Evolution of White Knight in RWBY (Volume 1)
To begin our tale of their relationship evolution, we must begin from Volume 1. Episode 1.03 “The Shining Beacon, Pt. 2” had the two “meetings.” Weiss, sarcastically, pointed to Jaune while talking about “cute boys,” something Jaune perks up at. He attempts to flirt with her, but she is not in the mood. Not a good start for this relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 1.04 “The First Step” Jaune interrupts a discussion between Pyrrha and Weiss, flirting with the latter girl. Weiss shows annoyance at being flirted with, and it’s in this episode that Jaune drops his nickname for the girl “Snow Angel.” Although he flirts with Pyrrha a bit, Jaune’s main focus is Weiss, especially trying to get on the same team as her. Their discussion ends with Pyrrha throwing a spear at him that lodges him to the wall. A discussion with Yang seconds later reveals that he was following his father’s footsteps about “all women look for is confidence.” This indicates his good intentions, if only a bit wayward.
Tumblr media
Episode 1.05 “The First Step, Pt. 2” has a brief moment between the two. While Weiss is walking away from Ruby, annoyed to be her partner under Ozpin’s rule of the first person you make eye contact with is your partner for the duration of your time at Beacon Academy, she comes across Jaune who is stuck to a tree thanks to Pyrrha. He waves at her weakly, but she turns on her heel and returns to Ruby, accepting the girl as the lesser of two evils.
Tumblr media
Episode 1.08 “Players and Pieces” is when the two get another moment together. As Weiss falls from the sky after jumping off a Nevermore, Jaune sees his opportunity and leaps from his place in the tree, catching her mid-air. He attempts for a suave, “Just dropping in?”, but, in Looney Tunes style, the two fall from the sky, Weiss landing on Jaune with a mocking, “My hero.”
Tumblr media
Episode 1.10 “The Badge and the Burden, Pt. 2” has another very brief moment between the two. After Weiss defeats the Boarbatusk in class and stalks away angrily, Jaune makes a comment about what is up with her. This could just be Miles trying to get Jaune in every episode (he joked about this in Volume 1’s director commentary), or it can be seen as Jaune interested in Weiss’ state of mind.
Tumblr media
Episode 1.14 “Forever Fall, Pt. 2” has Weiss preparing to intervene in a fight between Jaune and an Ursa Major until Pyrrha stops her. Whether Weiss was worried for Jaune’s safety or just wanted to kill the Grimm is up for debate, but I like to think she was worried about Jaune dying (especially because she doesn’t hold a high opinion on his fighting capabilities).

Arctic Sea Ice Below Average in Winter 2023 After growing through the fall and winter, Arctic sea ice appeared to reach its annual maximum extent on March 6, 2023. This year’s end-of-winter extent was the fifth lowest in the satellite record maintained by the National Snow and Ice Data Center. Arctic sea ice extent peaked at 14.62 million square kilometers (5.64 million square miles), a total area that is roughly 1.03 million square kilometers (398,000 square miles) below the 1981–2010 average maximum. Compared to the average maximum, the Arctic Ocean in winter 2023 was missing an area of ice equivalent to the states of Texas and Arizona combined. The map above shows the ice extent on the day of its annual maximum. To determine extent, scientists project satellite observations of sea ice onto a grid and then add up the total area of each cell that is at least 15 percent ice-covered. The yellow outline shows the median sea ice extent for February from 1981–2010. A median is the middle value; that is, half of the extents were larger than the yellow line and half were smaller.

RNM Season 1 Timeline
Hey folx, after going through and diving into the timeline of the first three episodes, there’s been some question about how the rest of the season paces out, so (by request) I’m putting it all together in one place. Feel free to use this for fic writing reference purposes or so you know what parts and pacings to ignore as you build your own headcanons ;)
Warning: Some of this, particularly in the middle of the season, gets into some hand-wavey territory. I personally have a high threshold for hand-waved details in television shows so long as they don’t impact the characters or plot too much, so I’m unbothered, but just FYI, there is absolutely some ambiguity and inconsistency in the canon timeline.
1.01: Late-May/Very early-June. We know this because the anniversary of Rosa’s death is June 7th (8th? there is conflicting canon on this) and Liz arrived in town ~roughly~ a week before this. (x)
1.02: June 7th/8th. This takes place the day of and the morning after the anniversary of Rosa’s death. (x)
1.03: June 22nd (ish). The drive-in veteran fundraiser takes place roughly two weeks after the anniversary of Rosa’s death (x).
1.04: The Next Day (aka roughly June 23rd). Max blacks out the town after the fundraiser, everything in the episode takes place the next day.
1.05: Day After That (aka roughly June 24th). Most likely.  This one is a bit more ambiguous. Isobel goes missing and Michael says he’d dropped her off at home the night before - which would make sense, since he’d taken her to Max’s after she collapsed at the bar. However, Liz shows up for an interview for a position she’d only decided she might pursue the evening before, and Kyle has a box of stuff from his mom that he stayed up all night looking at, so he presumably got it after leaving Liz’s.
What seals it for me being the day after the blackout day is that Max starts out at the junkyard trying to convince Michael not to turn himself in, and Isobel makes the comment that she thought he’d be long gone. I don’t imagine a whole day (or more) could have passed where (a) Michael didn’t move forward with turning himself in and/or (b) Max and Isobel hadn’t tried yet to convince him not to. *hand waves*
1.06: Same day (aka roughly June 24th). The present day parts of this episode all take place the evening/night of the Isobel blackout/Liz shootout day.
1.07: One week later (aka roughly July 1st). Cam says it’s been a week when she wakes up at Max’s, and Isobel says it’s been a week when she confronts Liz.
1.08: A few weeks later (aka early-August? mid-August? idk). This one is ambiguous but we know at least a ~few~ weeks pass. It’s never directly stated how long Isobel is in the psych ward at Kyle’s hospital, and there are conflicting indications. Kyle’s conversation with Liz and Isobel’s conversation with Noah give vague impressions that it’s maybe been a week, maybe a little more. However, Alex’s conversation with his father suggests more time. Remember - he only found the spaceship piece in 1.05, which was a week before 1.07. Alex says he’s “learned a lot, these last few weeks.” Given how much he accomplished in that time - digging around the dark web, following countless threads of fake and real information, connecting the dots to his father, following his father to the bunker “a few times,” replicating the burner phone, and then planning his attack - I have to imagine it’s been somewhere between 3-5 weeks since 1.07 (and I personally would lean more on the longer end of that). *hand waves*
1.09: Six weeks later. (aka.... I’ll get to that in a moment). So, the show explicitly states a six-week time jump between episodes 1.08 & 1.09. Which, if we’ve followed the timeline correctly, would put us at ~somewhere~ around late-September/early-October. However, in the next episode, Max tells Isobel, who comes out of the pod at the end of 1.09, that “Mom is gonna smother you at Thanksgiving. Just let her.” Which suggests that Thanksgiving (Nov 22, 2018) is close enough that their mother will not be seeing Isobel before then. Given their mother’s apparent concern and the fact that she lives in Roswell, the only logical reasoning for this is that Thanksgiving is within like, less than a week. So, that puts us in mid-November (an additional six-ish weeks to where we should be). Which also tracks considering we get snowfall in 1.10, which doesn’t usually fall for the first time in New Mexico until late November.
So, we’ve ~somehow~ gotten into mid-November. The episode starts one day, the next day Max, Michael, Liz, & Maria go to Texas, and then they come back the next morning. *hand waves*
1.10: Same day (aka.... mid-November?) takes place the same day that 1.09 ends - with Isobel coming out of the pod, and Alex still at Michael’s. Everything else that happens is still the same day - the shooting, Alex/Kyle decoding the letters, Michael & Isobel’s conversation, etc. The storm Alex talks about in the morning rolls through and drops snow sometime before Isobel and Noah go to the hospital in the afternoon.
1.11: Maybe a week? later (aka late-November). This is the day of the Gala and the only indication we have of ~when~ that is in the timeline is that Noah says “there’s no way [Isobel]’d miss it” at the beginning of 1.09, which is two days before Isobel comes out of the pod. Which makes us think that it’s close enough that he’s concerned she’ll miss it, but it’s still at least a few days, maybe a week, away. *hand waves*
1.12: Three days later (aka late-November/early-December). Max explicitly states it’s been three days since the Gala and for once nothing contradicts this.
1.13: Same day. (aka late-November/early-December). The finale picks up right where 1.12 leaves off and progresses throughout that night and into the next morning.
---
And that’s it! That’s our first season. We start near late-May/early-June and end near late-November/early-December.
