just watched bbc sherlock for the first time. are john and sherlock really supposed to be the gay ones? because mycroft and moriarty are fruitier than a fruitcake
@amypihcs sent me this picture of Jeremy Brett with his partner Gary Bond a while ago and I adore it, so I made a GIF! (Sorry Gary, you are now casted as a Watson, everyone next to Jeremy will become a Watson, I don't make the rules.)
"You are frightening my Pathologist, Woman. Perhaps you could take a few steps back?"
-- The Full House by @emceefrodis , Chapter 5
Sometime in 2012, I reached out to the author of my favorite Sherlolly fanfic, very shyly sharing a (frankly embarrassingly crude) drawing based on the last chapter I had read of her story. I was actually terrified of doing so, since I hadn’t really drawn anything in a REALLY long time, and while I had done some sketches here and there, this is the first time I ventured to share a scene from a fanfic. It’s not even faithful to the scene! *facepalm*
Thankfully, this author was gracious and kind and the rest, as we say, is history.
It’s been 10 years since then, and as we wrap up 2022, I wanted to reminisce for a moment and I re-drew my original drawing (which I actually cannot find a copy of since it was at least 2 blogs ago). Thank you @strawberrypatty for sharing your story and your friendship with me. It’s been so great!
Old Gay VS New Gay discourse is so interesting to me as a “new gay” (milennial) growing up around “old gays” (boomers)
Old gays refuse to adapt to new nuanced gender and sexuality labels, feeling they’re superfluous and not “real issues.” New gays refuse to understand the point of view of a community not that long ago that was ravaged by AIDS and was (and is) straight-up illegal in public to be in most parts of the world
It’s a microcosm of the boomer/milennial dichotomy and imo shouldn’t even exist. There’s always been gay men VS lesbian VS bisexual disagreements and schisms and even proto-trans discourse about drag and androgynous presentation, but I’d like to think with a larger, more vocal community than ever, we’d come to an understanding that we don’t need to be fighting! We’re on the same side even with very strong disagreements!
Tl;dr if Boomer gays and Milennial gays could just rest thinking the other was cringe instead of completely disregarding and getting hostile towards the other we’d be in a much better place inter-community wise. But, to be honest, mostly I just see milennial gays completely disregarding the feelings of the people who made it possible for us to go outside idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On this day 10 years ago, I started on this site and it has been an adventurous pleasure. I've discovered new things through it, or it has been a great tool to strengthen old things dear to me. From Sherlock to Fellow Travelers, this is me. Looking forward the next ten years to come!

looking at my old blog i had between the age of 13-15 and looking at all the sherlock posts i was reblogging in 2014 is really making me feel some kind of way considering the brainrot that returned instantaneously once i started listening to sherlock & co
I still think the funniest thing that could happen on tumblr is if Moftiss actually announce bbc Sherlock season 5. They just have to release that stupid Moriarty clip again and boom this website will be inhabitable with all the former cumberbabes and tjlc's comming out of the woods and dayjobs to hit post limit within 15 minutes
Listen I love my old people Sherlock group more than anything and they’re so cute I want to pinch their cheeks but I will never forgive nor forget that the vast majority prefer BBC Sherlock over Elementary
this is a cold ass take but not one I’ve seen around in my online circles, but the scooby-doo reboot has me thinking about how like. I feel like a big part of why it feels like fandom doesn’t last as long anymore is that we’re just constantly getting reboots and sequels of the same 3 things over and over.
and you’d think, wouldn’t that make the fandom last longer? and sure…. for those same 3 things. but like. it makes me think that a vast majority of people look at media and go “if it’s not actively putting out content, then it’s dead” when for so long, fandom around stuff would last for DECADES after a series had ended.
like, nobody lets anything sit and breathe anymore. and it’s exhausting.
and I get that the reason WHY we keep getting reboots and sequels is bc execs are scared to put money into anything new when this old title would immediately have a payoff bc it’s familiar to people. but that doesn’t make it any less depressing. in fact, it makes it MORE depressing, but nobody needs me to explain why.
I just wish people would stop beating dead horses. it’s not worth it, because it will so easily become forgettable when you just keep rehashing the same things, same settings, same characters over and over.
