my That Girl morning routine as a tired afternoon duck 🦆🌷
it doesn't have to be perfect to be perfect for you 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i woke up today knowing i didn't get enough sleep, but i did a guided morning meditation (thankful for my company account that i haven't been taking advantage of lately 🥺) while making my bed and doing my morning care routine 💁‍♀️ and then over a lovely light breakfast, i rewatched Jin at Maple Story (Korean listening practice, you know 👌). finally i felt better and got... half an hour of focus time in 🤡
*flashback to last night*
trying to set a bed time lately is freaking hard?? i had to run an errand late after my physiotherapy appointment and when i finally got back, i spent almost the whole 20 minutes of my guided sleep meditation daydreaming storylines i could write about since i've made a commitment to get back into my old creative writing hobby (i have a rough outline planned with no idea of when i'm going to find time to actually write it, and no, i did not sleep well, thank you very much 😅)
*end of flashback*
oh! i also did my physiotherapy exercises but the ones i did at my appointment yesterday left me with a pain in my side that's very difficult to work with 🥲 aaaaand then i did another block of focus time for ~1 hour! wooooo~ 😇
💌: pro-tip for anyone who needs to sit for hours at a time: kneel on your chair and don't be afraid to hunch over your desk a lil, your back will thank you 🙏 (i am not responsible for how silly you may look when doing this 😛)

[19.09.2023] ✧ first week back in class <3 ; Day 1/100 days of writing
It has been quite a while since I have written, but I am feeling really inspired for this upcoming semester. I have begun a regular routine, and I wanted to share some of my favorite study/self-care musts with some of you who may also be starting/have already started.
• stoic.
This app has a bunch of different features. It starts with a check-in, which can be followed by daily reflections, journaling (from daily journaling to dream journaling, book reviews, food review, monthly reflection, morning prep, therapy progress, so on and so many more!!), meditations or breathing exercises, and other activities. They curate a section based on your day, which is based on your daily priorities (which you choose during your check-in). Then they have a bunch of inspiring quotes and features to follow your progress. Really love love love this app.
• forest
I am sure you all know this app, it probably doesn’t need much explanation. XD the Forest app allows you to set a study timer by planting a tree, with the option of blocking phone use. That means, if you use your phone after you’ve planted a tree, you will kill the tree. It is a great way of staying focused on your work and avoiding distractions, especially coming from the phone (I know my phone has become a growing problem as I’ve gotten older and older. The best part is that you can actually plant a tree via this app depending on how many points you have earned studying!
• @emmastudies printables
I use them all - from the project planners to weekly planners to just calendar prints. I love them so much, I hang them on my wall and they help me stay organized so that my brain isn’t just a jumble of rogue Tupperware bins and lids!!
• flexcil
This is an app that I use on my iPad to annotate PDFs! It is great for digital readings and has allowed me to dramatically reduce how much I need to print (since I am a very visual person and need to highlight and write a bunch on things, this was the best alternative to hard copy). This is the best one I have tried!
• backpack essentials
For me, that is: a notebook that I love that I feel comfortable continuing class notes in, my iPad (I have started keeping my laptop at home for bigger works and work from home since it gets so heavy and sometimes can be distracting in class, so instead i take my iPad and i have a small bluetooth keyboard to go with it), my planner so that I can look back to it throughout the day, a folder for class documents or printed readings, a water bottle for hydration, lunch and a snack (+ a sweet one in case I get low blood sugar), and medication.
*If you’re someone who suffers from anxiety or panic disorder like I do, then I would definitely recommend having an inhaler and needed medication (+peptol or tums), a fan, something like a fidget or comfort item to hold in your hands, water, a comfy sweater or scarf, a hair scrunchy, and a snack with you at all times!
I hope this helps for all of you going back to school - Wishing you the best of luck!!! x

weekly writing prompts
—everybody knew that the portal to the other reality was through the fountain, but nobody knew how to cross it. There wasn’t any levier or button, and you didn’t have to bathe in it, or throw a coin either. The travel cost was a tear of happiness mixing up with the water of the fountain. A tear of sadness could lead you to a non reality.
—a marine train has been connecting the continents for thousands of years. For the first time ever, the train is heading south towards Antarctica.
—your evil twin has remained hidden away for your entire life. They finally choose to show up on the presidential inauguration. The only problem is, you’re the president.
—the wind was a living thing, strangling people on its way.
— the ice castle would only melt if the true heir crossed the gate and stepped inside. Now all five of us are placing bets as to whom is the lost princess.
Variant: the ice throne would only melt if the true heir sat on it.
And this is why we should never make out on it, because now it’s melting and you’re convinced you’re the lost prince.
–modern AU Icarus where Icarus is the pilot of a private jet and Apollo is the jerk that owns it. Apollo wants to see how high a plane can fly... spoiler alert: it doesn’t end well.
Let me know if you use any of these, I’d love to read your work!

“I’ve been on the other side of dying for a very long time.”
“You mean the wrong side?” Derina’s voice teases and then leans in closer to murmurs, “This one’s much more fun.”
Her voice drawls on the last word, and Laila retorts, “Is that your plan? Die, resurrect, seduce an innocent man to depths of the ocean?”
“Hardly. You’re not a man, Ms. Kivris, or innocent for that matter.”
By the spirits, she’s an incorrigible flirt and probably responsible for a dozen stereotypes about sirens. Laila leans back to look at Derina better, the blood in her face running hot and keeps her mouth shut. She doesn’t trust her tongue enough right now.
The corner of Derina's lip curls up knowingly, her eyes wild and tipsy as they focus on her. Laila wets her lips and whispers, “What are you playing at?”
“Just a dance. We’ve got plenty of time until Marty kicks us out.” Derina tugs her hand but makes no motion to get up, brushing her thumb across Laila's knuckles.

so I've apparently been writing every day for the last 100 days as of today.
some things that have changed:
writing process is more defined
I've managed to finish something (technically several things though they're smaller parts of bigger things, but I think breaking down my work and finishing those bits counts for something!)
become more confident about my works
become more comfortable sharing my works
some things that haven't really changed as much:
still googles definitions of basic things like 'proceed' vs 'precede' or 'where do I use a semi-colon'
nervous about asking for help (tho I have asked for help a few times in the last few weeks!)
nervous about replying to comments (because I turn to goo when im happy and lose all sense of the english language so ive only done so sometimes or if there's a question)
still devolve into a mess when I sit on a work for too long (what if it doesn't make sense, what if im dilly dallying too much, what if its not fun enough-)
anyway, all this to say that some days have been very rewarding and other days have been very, uh, internally arguing with myself on if it's worth it but after all of that, at the end of it all, it really has been some of the best time I've had writing in years. AND I made new friends, actually which might be the best part.
I want to say I've improved, maybe, or at least found things in my own style that I want to improve. I've decided on ways I'm going to focus on those things. while I don't know how successful I'll be, im hoping it'll still be fun!
Here's to maybe 100 more days and maybe more finished things!

ALSO since we’re staring shit today apparently, here’s my own little remix of 100 days of productivity:
100 Days of Writing💐
i will try to write at least one full sentence a day, doesn’t matter if it’s the actual fic or just planning, to try to force myself into having some sort of consistency :)

10/100
Just yesterday I saw The news of a girl Who died of hunger She did not make the headlines— For her story's too common— They gave her only a corner In the column of daily tragedies. We shared a surname And we shared our eyes— The dark brown of forgotten lands Too bright for this country Too dark to matter. I wondered if we were Long distant cousins Had our great-great-grandmothers Come in the same boat Escaped the same farm Drank by the same river? Perhaps they shared an orange Many summers ago, On a young trail across the semiarid At that time of the day When the sun sets on the copper-colored hills And the cicadas start to sing. Perhaps they spoke of us, Between one bud and another, Of the many summers ahead. Of a future that—
Would never be.
As your parents kiss your bony cheeks goodbye, (If you hadn't kissed theirs first) As someone buries you under the dry earth, Or the vultures find you by our trail, (Now turned into a beaten road) I hold an orange in my hands And stretch them out in the air. I wonder Why are we so far apart That I can't share it with you?

100 days of productivity
Tumblr media
9/100 | 15.11.2022.
Monday morning = start of the work week. I'm not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination so I really appreciate being able to work 100% remotely on the days I don't feel like getting out of my warm, comfortable, soft bed.
This is my work setup, nothing too fancy, but it works. I really enjoy keeping work stuff separate from my personal computer, which is why I only use my company-administered laptop for work. It helps me mentally separate my life - once I close the laptop, workday ends. I stop thinking about work. It's great!
Today's gonna be busy with meetings and some follow-up tasks I've got lined up.
Going to dance practice and gym later today. Looking forward to it:)

[20.09.2023] ✧ view from Rochers de Naye cliff restaurant ; 2/100 days of writing
Today was a slow day. I am practicing working a little bit every day and writing down my inspirations. I have also been taking care of a lot of errands this week, so I am hoping I will feel a big sense of relief by the time the weekend arrives.
This summer, my partner and I stayed a week in Tossa de Mar in Spain. While we were there, I started writing a short story - something I've dreamt of doing for a long time. It has become a surrealist/fantastic short story based also on my inspirations from Leonora Carrington (I am currently reading a book on her written by Giulia Ingarao, peek my last post.) I feel super comfortable writing every day with regard to this story. And it feels so relevant to my current studies.
Anyway, first week back to classes was a success and I am already feeling strange about the transition away from summer. Will send more updates tomorrow. Wishing you all a lovely Thursday evening. x

lost in the labyrinth of life
she, the prisoner to sleepless nights
can’t find herself
anymore
between the wants and the needs and the lacks
stalling on the spot, an eye looking back the path
an eye rushing up in time for a way out
in the sun she slows down, rejoicing in the second of every smile
in the rain
of her tears
coming times aren’t coming fast enough
grow up grow up, she whispers
longing for sleepful nights
for quiet
for an escape escape escape
before she forgets
herself
in the intricate minutes of passing hours
tangled bodies stuck in days
four arms four legs two heads
now it’s not just her it’s her and more
more and her

Sneak Peek
She knew how the protocol dictated and it only gave her three minutes at most. If she didn't remove all traces of her hacking into the victim's computer, they would label her a suspect. She was a cyber vigilante, not a murderer, thank you very much. Criminals are very sensitive about the crimes they commit, and the least you could do is to accuse her accurately.
She began severing each connection, leaving behind no trace, but before she could finish, Detective Alvarez zeroed his eyes on the hidden camera and pulled out a notepad from his jacket. Then, he strode across the Persian rug, and bent low until he was right in front of the camera. He unfolded the paper and held it up. On it was one message.
How long have you been watching, Oblivion?
The screen blacked out. All connections severed from the camera.
