One of my favourite little "scenes" back in 100hours was that bit just before the raid at grians

The rapid switching of sides from everyone, from joel and grian making fun of scars lack of wings, to joel and scar threatening to start a raid at grians base, to scar and grian stealing all of joels precious things, and joel finally starting the raid himself

It's genuinely hilarious and so fun to rewatch

He was on his knees, hand clasped together. There was blood on his sweater and an axe wound in his back. The crystal heart, the symbol of his life, was split clean in two. It was laid it out in front of him, between him and them.

You ask us to change the rules. To send you, the defector back. You have died. That is how it is.

“I know, I know! I died it was a mistake, I didn’t mean to, but please! I have to go back.”

And who does mean to die.

It wasn’t a question; more of a challenge.

Does the canary in the mines mean to suffocate. Does the lone wolf, separated from the pack mean to starve. Does the flightless fool mean to fall.

He didn’t know how to answer that. He didn’t know if he wanted to. So instead he kept quiet, staring at the broken heart on the floor.

Little bird, why must you go back. Do you think yourself special. Do you think yourself more, for being able to trick us. Do you believe yourself to be above death, above us. 

“No, of course not!” He didn’t think any of that, truly he didn’t, “I don’t think that. I just... I have to-”

The fool.

He froze. They knew. Of course they knew.

You care for it. Care enough to make a pact with the wolf. You wish to return to it. To keep it alive.

“I...” He cannot lie to them. They know him too well, “ Yes. Yes I do.”

And what would you do for the fool.

“Anything”

Anything

He could feel their smile.

The bird would do anything for the fool. And would the bird be willing to start over. From the beginning.

Oh, how fitting.

“Yes, I would be willing”

Very well.

A clawed hand snuck into his view and snatched up the broken life. There was a flash of light and then the crystal was back around his neck, tied up in a leather thong. It was stitched back together with white thread.

“Thank you! Thank you so much, I can’t repay you enough! Thank you, if there is any thing you nee-”

“Yes?”
