Short Answer: Maybe?
Slightly longer answer: Really great concepts but I struggled with the execution
I really wanted to love this book. It follows Arlo Rook, a hedge witch with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and Thatch Phantom, a yearning immortal with severely limited free will, as they spend a week in the vibrant modern-fantasy city of Levena. Cosy vibes, colourful magic, tragic backstories and buckets of yearning - sign me up! And true to promise, the book is full of amazing ideas, exciting locations and inventive characters...
Too many, in fact. The book reads like the author is just so excited to tell you about their awesome ideas that they just trip over themself. New characters show up every other page, all some kind of magical creature, associated with a new location. The narration is chaotic and it often feels like the author just... forgets to tell you how things connect, or leaves out a crucial detail.
It honestly felt like reading fanfiction for a fandom I'm not in. Characters show up as if we should know them already; items and events are treated as though they have great significance when they've only just shown up. Honestly, it's a great fanfic, I just wish I could read the source and get some context!
Final verdict: Phantom and Rook is Readable. Great vibes, really needs a thorough edit

hey :) Any recommendations for WIPs?
Hey :) Some WIPs we're enjoying now:
Africa - AU. When Ian lands himself an internship with famous wildlife photographer Mickey Milkovich he can’t believe his luck. Spending one month traveling through South Africa with his big hero is a dream come true.
second chapters - When Mickey’s PO assigns him a job at the local library, he’s pleasantly surprised—not that he’d ever admit it. Practically lived in the prison library, and what better way to start his new life than with a career he might actually enjoy.
Ristretto - Ian works the late shift at a coffeeshop. When he gains a new colleague with a wicked sense of humor and a sinfully hot boyfriend, he starts to think maybe he should be trying to do more with his life than perfecting his latte art.
The Menagerie - Ian finds himself splurging on a membership to an exclusive BDSM club and meeting the notoriously hard-to-please club veteran, Mikhailo Milkovich.
Tender Hearts and Other Maladies - The magickal tattooed Mickey + plant mage Ian + small town fantasy elements + Ukrainian folklore fic.
Intro to Quantum Dating - College AU. This is a falling in love story.
Out of Nowhere - Enemies to lovers AU with gangs and hidden money. The Gallagher gold. Mickey wants it. Ian will do anything to protect it. Who will cave first?
Sweetpea -Sweetpea, the stray that eats his neighbors flowers, is a little asshole of a cat. But Ian still hopes to win her over with treats from his lunch [...]. Just as he thinks he's starting to get her to like him, everything flips on its head. You see, Sweetpea is not a normal cat. And Sweetpea is not a she.
Your question has been received - A tumblr AU with a bit of a twist.
Don't forget to leave comments!

What are some of your fave long fics like over 100k?
Hi anon! Here are my favourites, they’re not very recent as I barely read anything over 20k these days 🥲 I have shortened the summaries so this wouldn’t get too long:
A Thousand Beautiful Things by geoviki (M, 104k)
Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend.
Changing Tides by carpemermaid (E, 109k)
Draco has spent half of his life spouting the things his father has taught him without much thought about how he feels about what he says. When he unexpectedly comes face to face with the Dark Lord, he grapples with the harsh realities of the world and struggles with his changing views on life.
Far From The Tree by aideomai (E, 112k)
The arrival of Harry Potter’s children—snapped back in time, the children themselves guessed, twenty or so years—was the most interesting thing to happen at Hogwarts for years.
Written on the Heart by who_la_hoop (E, 113k)
Unnerved by the attention he’s attracting from everyone – the Slytherins are the least of it, to be fair – and struggling with a raft of changes to Hogwarts itself, Harry wishes he could be happy that one constant remains: Draco Malfoy really fucking hates him.
Grounds for Divorce by Tepre (E, 122k)
Malfoy finds a coin. Harry finds a letter. A story about histories, a story about families. A story about a lemon tree somewhere in Upper Egypt.
A Sword Laid Aside by korlaena (E, 128k)
When Draco’s cover is blown during a deep undercover operation and the Ministry is compromised, Ron takes Draco to the only safe place he can think of—Potter.
What We Pretend We Can't See by gyzym (M, 131k)
Seven years out from the war, Harry learns the hard truth of old history: it’s never quite as far behind you as you thought.
By the Grace by lettered (T, 140k)
Harry is an Auror instructor. Malfoy wants to be an Auror.
Things Worth Knowing by Femme and noeon (E, 164k)
After the Battle, Harry thinks he's left Hogwarts for good, but Minerva insists that all students return for an Eighth Year if they wish to sit for NEWTs in the spring, and Harry needs those NEWTs to go into the Aurors.
There Is Always the Moon by firethesound (T, 159k)
Draco's life after the war is everything he wanted it to be: it's simple, and quiet, and predictable, and safe. But when a mysterious curse shatters the peace he'd worked so hard to build, there's only one person he can trust to help him.
The Secret Keeper by fools_errand (M, 225k)
On Halloween 1981, Albus Dumbledore made a decision that would change the course of history, concealing Harry Potter’s survival at the hands of Lord Voldemort underneath a Fidelius Charm.
Turn by Saras_Girl (E, 306k)
One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.
Twist of Fate by Oakstone730 (T, 312k)
Draco asks Harry to help him beat the Imperius curse during 4th year. The lessons turn into more than either expected. A story of redemption and forgiveness.

Close Behind by @oflights
Words: 134,215
To rescue Draco from the Underworld, Harry has to look forward.
Unfortunately, Draco has to look back.
This is one of those fics that completely altered my brain chemistry. The pacing, the writing, the characterization, the mourning, the hurting, the grand finale where Draco descends from the heavens with Bayard and Salazar like a godsent angel it's just too much. Such an amazing story. This fic tore my heart out, stomped on it, chewed on it, spat it out and stitched it back together in the end. Lovely.

Run, boy, run by UnifiedCreations
Word count: 105,187 (complete) / 25/25 Rating: T Trigger and content warnings: PTSD
Summary: Eddie had done a lot of running recently. He’d run when Chrissy died, when Jason and his gang was hunting him, when the cops gave his name to the town and started a witch hunt for the freak. He’d run from all of it, and more.
He’d run from the lab. He’d run from Papa.
He couldn’t run any longer.

heart like a house by pocketpepper [122k] 🔒
Mature | Adam/Gerard
Adam paused, then frowned for a second. “And you better not go and fall in love with me ‘cause of it, alright?”
Gerard scoffed, like the idea of falling in love with Adam was ridiculous. “I won’t.”
When Adam left town a couple of years ago, he didn't plan on moving back, but when he needs a soft place to land after a relationship gone wrong, he finds himself at his dad's, dealing with the fact that things have changed and his dad is obviously keeping secrets from him, which may or may not have to do with the family business's finances, so when they get a call about a notoriously rundown house in town, Adam leaps at the opportunity to put a big job on their calendar.
Gerard has a huge mess of a house—a looming reminder of everything that went wrong in his last relationship and a dream he can't have—but things start looking up when he finds a contracting company willing to take on such a huge project so he can sell the house quickly and move on.
”Just fucking kiss already nerds”—ao3 user crystallized
SOOOO fucking cute and funny and heartwarming, like. This is legitimately a god tier rom com fic. That word count may look intimidating, but it's paced so well and the slow burn drives the plot enough that I never felt like the story was being dragged along in any way... in other news, it's a dual perspective, so you get a pretty even mix of both tbs and mcr, which I liked a lot. Also, there's so much extra stuff to this fic, like art, a companion fic, even a PINTEREST BOARD that showcases all the visual inspiration for the house and renovations, like it's soooo cool. Ugh, I just can't recommend this fic enough!!!!

Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Well, still no, but I did actually enjoy it more than I expected to.
The story follows Oliver, a vampire aristocrat reluctantly engaged to a vampire prince, Alexander, who falls instead for the suave designer hired to make their suits. The prose is clunky and the situation faintly ludicrous, with worldbuilding that seemed to just have been thrown against the wall. Oliver's father is abusive, but written in a way so over the top that it just becomes ridiculous, and while Oliver's reaction to it would be entirely sympathetic in a real human, his lack of self-awareness became grating as the book went on.
Still, I did find myself wanting to read more. While haphazard, the worldbuilding contained a lot of juicy, trope-y bits that were fun, and I actually found myself invested - not so much in the main characters' development, but, surprisingly, Alexander's, in learning not to be quite such a twat.
There's apparently a planned sequel that will follow Alexander and, honestly, I will probably give it a read.
Final verdict: Vampires of Eden is readable, and worth picking up if you're particularly craving a trashy m/m, vampire situation that doesn't require you to think.

Hii👋 Do you have any fics where Ian and Mickey are roommates or share a dorm? The longer the fic the better 😁
“and they were roommates”
I tried to organize it from longest to shortest so hope that helps!
Intro to Quantum Dating College AU
you'll never see us again Ian navigates life inside the confines of Marceline, a beautiful boarding school in rural America where he had been fed, clothed, and raised since as long as he could remember.
Wanderers Above The Sea Of Fog In the late summer of 1990, Mickey Milkovich begins his carreer as a History of Art undergraduate in an elite college in Vermont.
Don't Stand So Close Both end up in one place they never would have expected: Bernardo Francisco Academy.
Empire State of Mind Ian Gallagher, son of the President of the United States Clayton Gallagher, wants to go off to university with reduced security. He wins the argument -- or so he thinks.
The Halfway House After his mum took off, Ian sort of expected he'd wind up in foster care. What he didn't expect was to meet a sort of dirty boy called Mickey Milkovich there.
Classified Ian can't afford his apartment so he advertises for a roommate and Mickey applies
Frat-a-licious Ian is left stranded without a ride home for winter break. And while he can't ask his frat bros for help, he could ask his nerdy, perma-cranky roommate Mickey for a ride. As a total last resort-thing, of course. It's not like he
Sheep in Wolf's Clothing Mickey's taken into care and shares a room with Ian, whose scent drives him mad.
And past recs for roomies can be found HERE.

Threshold by @kbrick
Words: 126,402
Unspeakable Draco Malfoy finally gets his chance to consult with the Auror Department when a series of mysterious doors covered in runic symbols appear all across the country, only to fade away minutes later. Draco’s eager to help solve the mystery of the doors until he’s partnered with Harry Potter, who still treats him like an enemy.
Things go from bad to worse when the reluctant duo find themselves on the wrong side of a door, trapped in a world where one wrong move might prove fatal. Between the menacing forest creatures and the bloodthirsty ruling class, no place seems safe.
To get home in one piece, Draco and Harry must put aside their differences and learn to rely on one another. Easier said than done.
My jaw is on the floor. I am shooketh to the core. This is some epic fantasy shit and I'm left speechless. I finished this in one sitting and jfc I don't know how to continue my life. The world building was out of this world (lol), and the oc's!!! Like I was rooting for Draco and William and was ready to throw Harry under the bus at some point, and I think that speaks volumes of the way these characters found their way into my heart. Lia!!! Frankie!!! I'm in tears. An absolute joy. 🫶

Memories of Siji Manor and much of his past washed away by Meng Po soup, Zhou Zishu cheerfully carves out a new place for himself and draws the attention of the vicious Valley Master while he does it.
S’s Notes:
This fic. THIS FIC. Not going to lie, I don’t read noncon and I probably would have skipped over this fic if it had been a main tag and not a chapter note, but I’m so glad that I read it. Heed the warnings as this fic had some VERY dark themes, but it’s an incredibly engaging plot that I could not put down.
I’m pretty sure I read all 100k of it over the course of a single day. It’s that good. The plot is built so beautifully, and the creativity in making such a vibrant and real world for Ghost Valley was just icing on the cake. I am currently reading through the sequels as well. All in all, incredibly engaging and well-written story that enraptures and delights the reader. Well worth the CW’s if they aren’t actual triggers to you.
