Are you sick of the miscommunication and angst in Resisting the Current? Ready for the author to stop messing around and get to the big happy poly? If so, you’re in luck; I’m feeling some holiday-themed fluff and didn’t want to miss out on writing it, even if we’re not quite there in the main fic yet.

I'm planning on writing a series of connected oneshots each focusing on a different member of the harem doing holiday stuff with the reader and though we’re skipping ahead to an established relationship, there won't be any spoilers for the main fic. Except that we're getting an eventual happy ending, I guess. Each oneshot will be roughly 2k words (july keep it succinct challenge level: impossible) and it's gonna be cute and teeth-rottingly sweet.

I've worked out all the different activities I want each chapter to focus on but I have no idea what to name the fic! What do y'all think?

It’s funny because when I was a kid Eid was in December so it at least felt kind of like. Being involved with the other holidays/spirit this time of year but because it moves around this year it’s in like March-May ! i miss it being in the winter 😭

⸻ SEOJIN CLAUS HAS VISITED YOU 🎅

Scouting the building for yet another Crystallis member is a challenge, but one Seojin seems to accomplish well enough in his days of gift giving. It's another trek around in his Santa costume, bag of goodies trailing behind him. He approaches Ichika carefully, present wrapped in rose gold wrapping paper and a white chiffon ribbon. "Merry Christmas, Ichika!" He leaves her with the gift before he runs off. Inside the gift, she will find an assortment of different flavors of hot chocolate and a bunny rabbit keychain.

In the moments when she’s not actually attending a schedule, the worlds still seems too loud and yet too quiet. Her thoughts are too loud to be able to put in her headphones and focus on a podcast or an audiobook, let alone music; the world is too quiet even to start to drown them out. She should have never opened her mouth, never should have let the fears break up something she had held so dear at one point. And yet, she can't take it back. Every moment she considers it, it feels like she’s going to drown. Since when had she ever been so stupid and vulnerable? And it’s not like she can tell anyone without showing how stupid and selfish she’d been.

She’s supposed to be the smart one.

It’s only years of practice and the numbness that prevent her from crying as she makes her way down to the personal studios the company had assigned each member. She’s never been one to feel drawn to write down something for music, but maybe if she does something, it’ll help.

Maybe.

Ichika doesn’t even notice the person approaching her until their voice breaks through, and her view is taken over by a blur of red and white and the pretty reflectiveness of wrapping. Eyes wide, she can do little else but accept the gift and watch as her Santa rushes off.

It’s not until she’s in the safety of her studio does she even attempts to unwrap the gift. Slow and careful, almost savoring the moment by trying not to ruin the paper or the ribbon completely. It could be something weird underneath all the finery but all normal suspicion is gone, and when she sees the hot chocolate and the little keychain, Ichika can’t help but smile.

A real, happy smile.

And then the tears come, slow and quiet, and she makes no effort to whip them away.

“Thank you, Santa,” she finds herself whispering, the soft smile still remaining under the tears, while her fingers gently run her finger along the little rabbit's face.

She may be an idiot, but at least there is some good in the world.
