13x11 - detailed analysis
In this episode we have a lot of moments, but just one is a true garvez scene.
Scene (moment) 1-
At the BAU we have Tara, Penelope and Luke, working together, while the others are on the field.
Here just the frames with them. It's a bit significant, because they are almost always framed together.
But they don't interact.
-
Scene (moment) 2-
We find again Tara, Luke and Pen at BAU. JJ calls them. Penelope says: “I don't want to judge, but they're classic excuses for domestic abuse.”
And Luke replies “Ok. But the chief has a solid alibi. He was camping.”
-
Scene (moment) 3 -
Same as the previous moments. The magic trio at BAU.
They just share an opinion about the possibility that the husband was the aggressor.
-
Scene 4 -
They split. Penelope reaches JJ at the hospital, Luke goes on the field. Tara and Luke are talking about the case. They need some info, and then... Garcia calls them.
Luke asks “Garcia, are your ears burning?”. His tone is so flirty. You can notice a little grimace on his face.
We see Penelope while Luke is still talking. Her eyes are flirting too. Before her mouth. And she makes a moves, she leans back, she shakes a little her shoulders, in a seductive way.
She replays “My ears are the same temperature as the rest of my body" and she pauses.
Then she concludes "hot." her tone is also flirty. Like when she was talking with Morgan.
But then, Garcia realizes what she did. And she steps back (same as in 13x3, the just rub my lamp joke).
We have a change of perspective and frame, that emphasizes her realization.
She says "Oh, that sounds like flirting. I don't flirt with you." it's a declaration, a mission, as she is about to add: "It's in my mission statement. What do you need?”
Then we are back on Luke. He smirks a little, but is good to stay serious and focused on the case. But he needs to close his eyes for a moment.
He says “Ok, look, we need to know who runs the drug help lines in Hitchens.”
She replies with a so-forced-professional voice: “That will be next on my to-do list. I called you (...)”
Luke asks “By chance, anybody in his life named Shelly?”
“Uh… His wife's name's Michelle. Shelly could be short for Michelle, right?”
It's like Tara wasn't there, because the conversation is just between them. Then JJ arrives, with the news that the victim is awake and the scene ends.
-
Scene (shade) 5 -
Just Luke that listens carefully to what Pen is saying.
-
Scene 6 -
The team is celebrating together. Spencer asks if she did it all by herself, and she replies "with a little help". But we have no clue to understand what she means.
Penelope then says: “Happy New Year to all my favorite people”
Here we see that between them there is Reid.
And here the most interesting frame. Luke is looking at her, not at Spencer. You can guess it by the angulation of his gaze, and by the fact this is the same look he made after she tanked him for giving her the antistress kitten (12x17). Plus, the hand that we see in the right side of the frame, with nail polish, it's Penelope's.

Can we talk about how Garcia is always compared to a phone sex operator, but no one ever talks about this? His VOICE in this scene. Excuse me?
"Are your ears burning?"
His voice drops, he is practically purring. And it's not in response to anything, it's how he starts off the conversation.

Ok Sam strapped to this table while people bid on his body parts is kinda 🥴

sam: when has knowing us ever worked out for anyone?
dean: i mean, we save people, sam.
sam: yeah, we also get people killed, dean. ... you keep saying i’m in a dark place, but i’m not, dean. everything i’m saying is the truth. it’s our lives. and i tried to pretend it didn’t have to be. i tried to pretend we could have mom back and cas, and help jack. but we can’t. this ends one way for us, dean. it ends bloody. it ends bad.

okay, well... i do not like the vibes of this ending.

The 13x11 Reader's Corner 10 (November 21, 23)
Because the world will always need 13x11 love… And let’s say it: they’re gorgeous together ;)
Stellar Drift by Flayrie
Summary: Canon divergence. Through Lady Une's machinations, Treize Khushrenada survives the war. Despite saving him, Une appears intent on pushing him away, evading him at every opportunity. Desperate for answers, Treize confronts her, igniting old feelings long buried for the sake of duty. [Illustrated by yawniverse]
Why 13x11 shipper may like it:
For once, he met Une with a compromise rather than a demand. For once, he considered reciprocity.
Why non-13X11 shipper may like it:
A sharp sensation scratches his cheek, borne from the tip of a stray feather poking through the pillowcase. Probably vengeance from one of many waterfowl he once shot for sport.
Bonus: great artwork and soundtrack
