I don't think we're talking enough about how the premise for the 1827 meetup in the cemetery was a date, pure and simple. There was no "uh oh, Aziraphale is in trouble again", no big point in history that both sides needed them to attend, no Arrangement at all... nope, it was an invitation and an accepted invitation. It was literally Crowley saying "hey angel, I saw a thing that you'll find funny (I was thinking about you), come and hang out with me about it" and Aziraphale does.
Tumblr media
And I wonder what would have happened next if they hadn't stumbled across grave-robbing Elspeth and her moral dilemma.

Unpopular (Popular?) Opinion?
I want to see Crowley do more weird drugs throughout history. Boy was having a WILD time in Edinburgh.

Note
Crowley's hat is so tall. What is he hiding under there.
do you mean this hat?
Tumblr media
if so, here are a few ideas off the top of my head:
a stack of coins in case aziraphale wants or needs to do a spontaneous magic trick (he loves it really)
a kid (as in a baby goat, not a small person)
a vial of laudanum
a few pears (aziraphale likes pears - though, thinking about this in terms of their onscreen dialogue timeline, crowley may not have known that until 1862)
a small plant that he can't leave at home to die while he's on his holibobs
a bottle of red wine in case of emergencies
a few extra pairs of glasses, also in case of emergencies
things that would definitely not be under this hat:
a book - after all, he doesn't read books
anything made in the time of or emulating the culture of the 14th century
anyone else got any ideas?
@procrastiel @raining-stars-somewhere-else @sad-chaos-goblin @bowtiepastabitch and everyone else, share your thoughts pls

Writer's Guild Cock Fight - Angel, it's cold outside (Fic)
Tumblr media
CW/TW: Explicit, canon-compliant pining (so kind of lightly angsty), but lots of smut and humour alongside it!
Includes: Top Aziraphale/Bottom Crowley, sharing a bed, spooning, muttonchops!, cuddling, Crowley is a tempting lil bastard, Aziraphale is very easily tempted
Summary:
“Is that? Crowley!” Aziraphale hissed again, with the unmistakable heat of Crowley’s Effort growing up against his backside.
The demon shrugged. “Natural. Being this close. Feeling you up against me. Mmm, you’re still quite cold, angel. Sure you don't need warming up?”
This is a precursor to their date in Edinburgh in 1827. Aziraphale is freezing, and a certain demon is here to warm him up. Semi-canon-compliant Victorian spooning in Aziraphale’s bed leads to more.
Thanks to my awesome betas: christina-joy, Lemon-Tart, adverbian, mellow_cello_charm, Paperclip_Ninja.
And to everyone in the Writers Guild. I am in awe of all your wondrous talent!
Excerpt
Crowley fluttered an arm over the angel. Aziraphale jerked up, “What are you doing?” he hissed.
“Angel, we are trying to stay warm. This is the way to do it. Relax, will you?” Crowley pulled his arm tighter around the angel.
The shivering had stopped, and for the first time in days, he felt a comforting heat pool in his stomach. “That’sss better.” Crowley murmured, and Aziraphale felt his slender hand press against him.
“Remember when we used to live near the desert? S’no snow then,” Crowley drawled into the back of Aziraphale's neck, and he felt a tiny flutter in his chest.
“I do remember the nights were quite cold.”
“Hm yes, we had to find ways to get warm back then as well,” he mused.
Aziraphale stiffened “That was a different time.”
“Wassss it?” Crowley whispered. Aziraphale imagined the demon's long tongue brushing up against the outside of his ear. He clenched his fists by his side.
“Crowley! What if they find out?”
“Nobody needs to know, angel.”

Map of Missouri as it appeared in 1827, just six years after statehood (1821). Settlements are confined to the Missouri and Mississippi River Valleys. Visible is the Boone's Lick Road, from St. Charles to Franklin, and the dense civilization of the Boonslick Country including Columbia and Boonville. At the drawing of this map the Platte Purchase of northwestern Missouri had not yet occurred and many counties had yet to be formed.

I was going to make a crack about needing to bring your spurs and teeny tiny cane to the opera, but I'm terribly distracted by the description of his "redingotte croisante" [sic].
An expanding redingote? A growing redingote?? Could this be a reference to padding the coat, which was common at the time? Going by the 1828 novel Pelham, I didn't think that men wanted to admit to being well-padded, even if their fashionable silhouettes said otherwise.
