For your street racing au, what cars do each racer have?
there are a couple repeats for various reasons, but lemme grab the list !!!
agency of repairs;
atsushi nakajima; 1991 Nissan 180SX  osamu dazai; 1991 Nissan 180SX doppo kunikida; 1992 Honda Accord SE (F20A), / 1989 Lancia Delta Integrale 16v junichirou tanizaki; 1993 Honda Integra RS (Type R Converted) yukichi fukuzawa; 1973 Nissan Fairlady Z/240Z  ranpo edogawa; 1995 Mazda MX5 NA akiko yosano; 1996 Toyota Chaser Tourer V JZX100
atsushi & dazai have the same car because dazai offered to let atsushi repair his old car to learn the tricks of the trade. dazai has had the same car multiple times, as he has a knack for wrecking them. the one atsushi has is the only one with an intact chassis, which is why he was able to repair it.
the portside;
ryuunosuke akutagawa; 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II  gin akutagawa; 1986 Toyota MR2 AW11 / Yahama YZF-1000R chuuya nakahara; 1991 Honda NSX NA1 michizou tachihara; 1991 Mazda RX7 FC3S ougai mori; 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo ryurou hirotsu; 1981 Porsche 911 930 Turbo kouyou ozaki; 1995 Lotus Carlton oda sakunosuke; 1986 Nissan Skyline HR31 GTS-R
when chuuya comes out of retirement, he drives a different car, as a sign of growth from his teenage years. to emphasis it, he also changes his moniker; he changes "arahabaki" to "TAINTED", and he is welcomed back like a legend. gin is the only racer to consistently enter touge races with a motorcycle, and possibly the one most deserving of her reputation.
misc;
lucy montgomery; 1992 Chevrolet Corvette C4 ZR1 edgar allan poe; 1996 Lotus Elise Gen 1 mark twain; 1994 Dodge Viper RT10 / BMW M3 E36 (Euro-spec) francis scott fitzgerald; 1969 Dodge Challenger Daytona saigiku jouno; 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo
jouno is the only one of the misc. category to have formerly raced, but will not return to the scene. this is due to jouno losing his sight during the golden era, so he retired in '92 when it became dangerous for him to drive. before that, he and dazai were rivals. mark twain has two cars because he races both touge and highway - as such, he also has two names; tom sawyer and huck finn.

Book Review: Daniel Cabot Puts Down Roots
Tumblr media
The Premise:
It’s 1973 in New York City, and slacker music critic Daniel Cabot is basically married to his extremely hot pediatrician BFF, Alex Savchenko. Alas, in tried and true idiot fashion, neither of them have any idea what to do about it. Alex is prickly and is of the (CORRECT) opinion that feelings are bad and they should feel bad and the best way to handle them is to jam ’em in a corner and tell them to think about what they’ve done until they either behave or go away. Daniel is sunny, open-hearted, and isn’t like, opposed to feelings, but also, like, what are feelings, whomst can say. They’re both turbo in love, everyone around them knows it, and they sooooooorta know it but also, in classic Cat Sebastian weapons-grade idiots style, have no idea what to do with it. Along the way, Daniel helps build a community garden next to his literally crumbling East Village apartment, Alex faces new challenges at his clinic, and they both navigate their way, slowly and at a slant, towards each other’s hearts.
Comes out November 15. You can find purchase links here.
Dramatis Personae:
Daniel Cabot: Some of you may recognize Daniel as Tommy Cabot’s son from Tommy Cabot Was Here. He’s a sweet-natured freewheeling dude, but also struggling to find meaning in his life. His Boston Brahmin-esque family (they’re not the Kennedys, but also are not-NOT the Kennedys) have some awesome members, mostly his immediate family, but the extended members are…shall we say…more of a mixed bag. He’s managed to dodge serving in Vietnam thanks to the machinations of his mother, and boy he has some real mixed feelings about that. He loves fucking his friends, and he really wants to fuck Alex, except, uh, Alex is…more than a friend? Or is he? Anyway, until Daniel sorts his shit out, he figures he can haul a bunch of heavy stuff around and rehabilitate the vacant lot next to apartment and into a garden.
Alex Savchenko: A Ukrainian whose family fled war and chaos for New York City when he was a child, Alex is prickly, autistic, and fiercely loyal. He’s particular, difficult, and is all-too conscious about this fact, which is why he finds Daniel’s acceptance, loyalty, and gung-ho willingness to accommodate a bit bewildering. He’s convinced he’s Bad At People, but he can’t afford to lose Daniel, who is Good At People, and also his feelings are no longer obeying orders, in fact his feelings are in open revolt, so what’s a guy to do?
Co-starring: Tommy Cabot (I would die for him); Patricia Cabot, Daniel’s mom (I would also die for her); Daniel’s absolutely terrible grandmother; assorted friends, lovers, and neighbors; the got-damn city of New York itself.
Commentary:
This book blew me the fuck out of a giant funk I’ve been in since about July, during which I didn’t manage to finish any new books and baaarely managed to scrape through a couple of beloved KJ Charles rereads (two of which I did as canon review for the KJ Charles exchange, ha). I cannot express how much I love it. As with all of the other books in the Cabot-verse, it features:
Sweater wearing (including a sweater vest, ah, Alex my beloved)
A plot that consists of “people are generally very sweet to each other and have a lot of feelings that they don’t know what to do with”
Crying (though less than Tommy Cabot)
And as with all of my favorite Cat Sebastian novels, this story is all about idiots coming to realize that they do in fact love each other and have for a while now, but now they need to work out the shape of what it looks like, and what their lives together look like. Like, it’s immediately obvious within five pages of the book that Daniel and Alex are basically an old married couple, they just haven’t gotten around to fucking yet, and also they are buried in denial.
And then, oh god. They do get around to fucking. And it is glorious. This is one of the highest heat books Sebastian has put out yet, either on par with or hotter than Peter Cabot, so if you liked that aspect of Peter Cabot, you are gonna have a Very Good Time with Daniel Cabot.
A note about the sense of place in this story: that mention of New York as a side character is not a joke. I’ve only been to NYC twice, so it’s not like I’m some kind of expert, but goddd the sense of place I got from this book was next-level. I could picture the diners, the restaurants, the buildings, the streets; I could smell Daniel’s apartment. Sebastian pulls off an act of wizardry with this; of all the books I’ve read of hers, this is the one most firmly anchored in a sense of place, and I love it, because it’s pretty clear she loves it. She even has a note in the acknowledgements about the apartment she lived in that’s the basis for Daniel’s apartment. Love it (though mildly concerned about her health after living with so much mold).
Anyway it might be too much to say that Daniel Cabot cleared my skin, watered my crops, etc. etc. but it for goddamn sure patched over some sore spots in my heart and fixed my reading brain. Since I’ve finished it in mid-October, I have gone on to finish three other novels, which is more than I’ve managed to do between June and October. Part of me wants to go back and reread it already. (The other part recognizes that I have over twenty library books checked out and I should probably get a move on those first.)
(But also. This book.)
TL;DR:
Daniel Cabot, more than any other romance novel I’ve read in a long time—or possibly ever—is about two people who love each other a whole lot, and then learn to negotiate what they want with and from each other; along the way, they figure out where their boundaries lie, and how those boundaries make their relationship stronger. It takes a lot of bravery to bring up what you need in order to feel safe and nurtured, and the fact that these two do it—allow themselves to be fully and truly vulnerable with each other—makes me absolutely goddamn feral. Just. Fuckin’ read this book already.

Inaugural Mopar Event Excites from Start to Finish
Tumblr media
With ambition and anticipation, Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio staged its Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance, Sept. 22-24, 2023 and by all accounts, it was an extraordinary event. Produced and presented by Summit Motorsports Park with Mopar enthusiasts in mind, it featured three days of racing, a Fun Field Car Show, swap meet, car corral, manufacturers’ midway, concert by Trainwreck Country Band and fireworks. “We couldn’t be happier with our Inaugural Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance,” said Bill Bader Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “Our team spent several months organizing this event, and we all wanted it to be successful, and we are all very grateful that it was. We had a tremendous turnout, and we look forward to an even bigger event next year. The planning starts now.” On Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Indy Cylinder Head No Box saw Ron Hicks of Leo, Indiana, rip off a .001 reaction time and race to a 12.45 to defeat Cory Blackford of Toledo, Ohio, who stopped the clocks at 9.89. In Box, Randy Chestnut recorded a .007 on the tree and took the win with a 6.13 over Keith Meador, who went through the traps at 6.16. On Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, the final round of eliminations in Koffel’s Place Super Pro put the spotlight on Gene Nagy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cliff Motes of Logan, West Virginia. They inched into the beams before blasting off, and Nagy came out on top with a 4.70 to Motes’ 6.59. In CRT Transmissions Pro, Marcus King of Republic, Ohio and Mike Walwood of Parma, Ohio motored up to the starting line, and King secured the win with a 9.60 elapsed time to Walwood’s 9.85. AA Transmission Hemi Super Stock saw Bob Marshall of Columbus, Ohio and Ron Gallagher of Whitby, Ontario, turn on their red lights, and Marshall won as his light was a bit less red than Gallagher’s. In Mancini Racing Nostalgia Super Stock, Doug Wright of Waterford, Michigan and Mike DeChicco of Ostrander, Ohio put dial-ins on their classic cars before Wright wrapped up the win with a 9.43 to DeChicco’s 11.46. Dan Trainer of Orient, Ohio and Dan Brewer of West Milton, Ohio took the stage for the TTI Exhaust Sportsman final round of eliminations, and Trainer wrapped up the win when Brewer illuminated the red light, with a mere -.005, at the hit. On Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, the final round of eliminations in FireCore 50 Top Gun Full-Bodied saw Jeff Goebel of Stratford, Ontario, flat-foot the pedal on his Duster to a 4.39 for the win over Chris Wheatcraft of Jamestown, Ohio, who clocked a 4.84 in his Demon. In FireCore 50 Top Gun Open-Bodied, Bryan Keller cruised to a 3.70 to earn his trip to the Summit Motorsports Park Winner’s Circle over Keith McLennan, who was .004 at the hit but had to get out of the throttle. Unfortunately, a continuous mist on Sunday evening caused the remaining rounds for other categories to be cancelled.  As an added element to the event, Manufacturers’ Choice Car Show Awards were given during a ceremony on the starting line. The winners were Jerry Imhoff’s 1970 Duster (chosen by Arrington Performance); Rick and Nicole Janosik’s 1973 Challenger (chosen by Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram); Mark Charlton’s 1963 Plymouth Wagon Max Wedge (chosen by Mancini Racing); Pam and Phil Helms’ 1972 Roadrunner Satellite (chosen by Koffel’s Place); Dave Taylor’s 1962 Fury (chosen by CRT Transmissions); Bill Watkins’ 1969 Barracuda (chosen by Moto Lenz Photos); Joe and Pam Mazzola’s 1970 Barracuda (chosen by Indy Cylinder Heads); Paul and Rose Prescott’s 1969 Charger Daytona (chosen by Harland Sharp); Francis McManamon’s 1966 Belvedere II Wagon (chose by FireCore 50) and Randy Slovikosky’s 1978 Trail Duster (chosen by Dornan’s Sales & Service)  As racers and race fans who were at the event over the weekend heard, Bader Jr. has happily announced that the 2nd Annual Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World of Mopar presented by Arrington Performance will be Sept. 19-22, 2024, and as a new addition, a Gen III Hemi category will be part of the lineup.  “This event has the ingredients to be enormous, and we are eager to see where we can go from here,” said Bader Jr.  Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio.
