Hazbin Hotel Episode 3 & 4 Opinions and Story logic (mostly)

(ignore any typos, it's 3 min til midnight and I have a con in the morning and was at one all day, i'm not reading through this)

(Episode 3: Scrambled Eggs)

It’s weird to me that Vaggie wants to get rid of the egg bois cuz like??? Are they not also sinners that need redemption? Don’t they need to be saved too? The problem was that they kept building weapons that Sir Pen told them to make. They just needed something else to do, like idk, act as staff for the hotel. They can build, so maybe they can fix the hotel up a bit more.

I get it was just so one of them could spy for Alastor, but like, just have one follow him randomly. That isn’t out of character considering the eggs don’t have one.

It doesn’t make sense to me that Vaggie is so broken up by not getting the hotel guess to bond with each other. I get that she feel like she’s failing Charlie, but like, Charlie has accomplished literally nothing up at this point.

Yeah, so far there’s only 4 episodes, and the most Charlies done in all of them is get the exterminations moved up to every six mouths and fuck over Angel majorly ( I'm soft-balling that right now).

Like she signs a random paper without reading it, which, like girl, you are the daughter of the devil, there is now way she doesn’t know about the importance of contracts. Not only that it absolute FUCKS OVER everyone in hell. And it’s just brushed off??? Like no?

The exterminations is a big deal to all sinners, no matter the rank. Even if no one else knows what she did, Charlie should be more effected by this. The contract thing should have happened mid season or at the end, with her becoming more frantic to prove that her idea work so she can save sinners. But instead its treated like an oopies and she does trust falls and bond activities as if that’s going to make anyone a better person. Them liking each other doesn’t redeem them of anything.

*episode 3…im talking about that…*

Its my favorite so far. I like Zestail, Carmillia, Velvette and that dino lady are my favorite characters. Genuinely surprised I haven’t heard more about Respectless because it is my favorite song. (But it did come out next of ep 4, so it make sense.)

I hope Carmillia’s daughters are adopted or where her kids in life cuz the idea that the sinners can have kids are stuck in hell like the imps is messed up.

I’m glad Velvette gets development in this episode. I was worried that she’d just be the woman (tm) character of the Vees and be pushed to the side, so I was happy to see her upfront so soon. She’s now my favorite of the three, sorry Vox. I also like that her hair style keeps changing, that’s a nice touch for the fashion oriented one of the Vees.

The hotel gang going to the bondage…idk what to call it..Club felt like a waste of time. It was there for a joke and that’s it. Then Vaggie takes them to a city war zone and throws Pen and Angel off the building while Husk sneaks away.

Admittedly Husk sneaking off was funny to me, but like why would Vaggie think this would make them trust each other. Angel has a mafia background and family. Best bet he’s had to get into a few fights with them, and if I’m remembering lore correctly, he hates most to all of his family but okay.

At this point I’m genuinely curious how this show is going to develop Charlie’s redemption plan, because everything we’ve shown them try has failed and been show to clearly leading to fail. I have a feeling that he show isn’t going to have an ending, its just going to end. Like, nothing regarding the redemption plot line had made a single step forward. There’s just one more of them not, that’s it.

The second song doesn’t feel earned from Vaggie’s side.

Conclusion: This one is the best so far. It being mostly away from the main cast is not a good sign but it’s only number 3.

(Episode 4: Masquerade)

*gestures to that hot fucking mess* I’m not touching most of it. If you’re reading this them you’ve probably seen better points than I can provide. So I’m just going working on the logic within the story.

Personally, I think the visuals are a little too much, and I can understand where it goes way to far for a lot of people. I’d like to note that while Helluva Boss has a working screen on every single episode this has jack shit which was a huge fuck up in my opinion. I don’t care what the shows rating is, adult content and sensitive content are two different things and need to be treated as such.

Any media that handles SA, SH or abuse needs a huge label like those FBI no pirating screens from back in the day. I am not joking.

*shit I toughed it moving back a bit*

Okay, so why did Charlie goes to Angel’s job KNOWING he was in the middle of working. Like she knows he makes porn. The episode starts with the hotel gang watching one and her being visible uncomfortable. Why would she go there? And not like, wait outside or something? (she was uncomfortable at the bondage place why wouldn’t that be any different here?)

Charlie not picking up how upset Angel was that she showed up to his job THE FIRST time is child levels of ignorance. Even without the seriousness of what was really happening, that was infuriating to watch. I get that she’s supposed to have rose tinted glasses but those things are opaque. By this point all of her ‘accomplishments’ have been fucking people over majorly. She is a hindrance to those around her and it is hard to watch.

*skirting around the trash fire a little bit more.*

( I’m not trying to make a joke about this but like, I don’t know how to express how fucking yikes this episode is. Like it’s such an uncomfortable topic and it’s fumbled so hard. And then for Viz to turn around and argue about it on twitter and shit, like come on.)

Husk and Angel arguing doesn’t make sense to me. Husk says doesn’t like Angel cuz he’s fake, ignoring that it’ coping, shouldn’t Husk’s reasoning that Angel makes him uncomfortable. He is clearly shown being bothered by Angel’s aggressive flirty and sex talk. Him being ‘fake’ comes out of nowhere. As does them fighting.

Three minutes in, Angel gets pissed at Husk dismissing his porno. Flirts with him when Husk reveals he knows about the other hotel gangs’ insecurities and secrets. Then gets pissy again when Husk does the same to him. If Angel is short with Husk this episode because of Val, then let that be that, but the back and forth is jarring.

Charlie being the one to go after Angel an comfort him would have been the one good thing she could have done in the show cuz to be honest she as done nothing but ruin things for everyone at this point.

The loser song happening IMMEDIATELY after Angel’s emotional moment is a gut punch. Like WTF. I could not imagine being on the production team, seeing this shit and not saying something. Like there’s not scene cut to Charlie writing those (pointless) letters, her talking to Vaggie about how she messed up, nothing.

Angel has his break down and Husk seconds later is singing about how shit sucks and he’s a loser. Without the context, that’s bad. With the context, it’s horrific.

Husk had/has a gambling addiction. Not to downplay that or invalidate anyone who has/is going through that but it is not the same as SA. Especially as Husk isn’t going through his problems right now while Angel had to go through it…what an hour before, two maybe. For a prolong period of time and has to go back to that.

Husk is talking about his problem in the past tense. Besides the Alastor thing, it’s behind him. Angel’s problem is in the present and future. And that’s not taking into account the guy at the bar who was going to drug him. Who Angel was going to let drug him.

I could not imagine being on the production team, seeing the script for this and not immediately being like, no. This show is making miss Helluva Boss I am not joking.

Positives: The song Poison is good. Just listen to the audio and nothing else and its great. Val’s coat being moth wings was neat to see (especially if you ignore everything that happiness before and after that one still shot). I like Valentino’s design. I’ve no people have a problem with his voice, but personally I don’t mind it.

Conclusion: I have mixed feeling on the aftermath of the episode. Acting like the problem is solved and not addressing it won’t treat the SA plot-line with the seriousness it deserves. On the other hand, I do not want to the show to touch anything like this again. If it just leaves it here, then at least its only the one episode instead of more.

Ignoring Viz’s response to criticism over this, the executives and people with money have likely seen this shit blow up, and if anything, might not be willing to let the show go near something like this again. Which, in my opinion, is the best option. I do not trust this show to do it well, so it might as well not do it at all.

I am going to keep watching, cuz, like Helluva Boss, I want to see how this turns out. I don’t have hope for the show, but I am curious.

Overall, I hope ep 4 will be a good example of what not to do for any media hoping to cover SA in one way or another.

So... I started playing palworld.

Bad start I know.

I've sunk an good amount of time into it,collected an good amount of pals, not far enough into it for the firearms or mass production stuff but whatever. But I've played enough of it that I think I can say my stance on it.

This game is thriving,because pokemon refuse to inovate or improve.

It designs (wether they are plagerized,inspiered, or other) are not important to me,the more mature "parody" elements are not important to me, the graphic's are not important to me. What IS important to me is the fact that this early access, open world survival game is infinitely more fun then any other attempt to "inovate" on the creature collector genra of video game.

Because it's actually trying to be something different.

Temtem, cassette beasts, nexomon, hell even shin migame tense(Wich was the literal protigener of it) have tried and failed to gain a foothold in the monster collector genra due to the absolute monopoly Pokemon has had on it sense the 1990's, mostly because the earlyer games mentioned have all stuck to the slow, repetitive turnbaised combat that pokemon has dominated and continues to dominate. Palworld is just ARK with pokeballs slapped in,and it is infinitely better then what others have tried to be, because they are so afraid to actually change anything major about it.

You know Legends Arceus? One of the most popular modern pokemon games? How people were super exited for the trailers cause it showed the player ducking & weaving around pokemon's attacking,but then they showed that it was just the normal pokemon combat system of them just standing in place & waiting for each other to attack? Palworld feels like what Legends Arceus should have been.

That would definitely explain why it is the 2nd highest played game on steam & outsold legends Arceus within the first week.

I may love pokemon,but I can't fucking STAND how stale it's become,they refuse to make good games anymore because they both don't have the time to. and know that everyting they release will earn them millions, cause regardless of quality,we will all buy them anyway.

I'm so fucking tired, and Palworld gave me a breath of fresh air that I desperately needed.

So tldr: the pokemon company sucks and these are my favorite designs in palworld

i like how, for the most part, people think the kiss was not too soon because the build up in that scene alone was enough to sort of validate it. and i agree.

but i don't think it's love. people don't only kiss when they're in love. i think kinn is lonely and drunk, and porsche is there and touching him freely and he's cute and sharing his emotions with him and thanking him for acting the evil mafia boss.

- Angelica and the toxic man had children.

- Nadia and her 'great love and loss for Aureliano' that wanted to die at 20 years(?)

They said a possible sequel could be on the female characters.... Yeah, great (all the fights at beginning, recreating Spadino/Aureliano moments for nothing)

Hazbin Hotel Episode 8 blind blogging.

spoilers and whatnot. Doing one of these at midnight again even though most of my morning is free

The training to fight the angels being showned through montage…i don’t know how to describe it. It would have been a good change to show how trust and depenence on each other for the hotel gang would have developed. As well as how they get along with the cannibals while also having a few of them convert to the hotel’s ideal.

Whatever but at least vox is on screen.

24hrs and they still don’t know if they’re prepared? Ugh. Cherri’s here, okay. She fells more like a cameo than a character but alright. The emotional speech fells unearned.

What good is she seeing them? The hotel gang just started to get along. The cannbals have had not change only battle training. In ep 6 it was implyed that angel was getting better, but he was just tired from working with Val for 16hrs. If cherri would have showed up on any other day and the interaction with Val wouldn’t have happened, he would have gone along with her.

The cherri / pen ship is painful to watch please stop

Song #1 already. Short, kinda boring, but romance i guess. Idk, not my genre.

Heaven time. Really, Lute is the one that’s too much. Not adam, mr move the extermination date to every 6 months and miss pronouncing Vaggie’s name? Lute better not be Vaggie’s ex i swear.

Why does heaven have money!?!?

All the exorcists are women? With adam being what he is, that’s gross.

Wait they can shield themselves form the angels? Why bother recruiting fighters then? If alastor can shield the hotel and use the spears to kill the angels then the entire prev episode was pointless.

Neither adam or Lute knew that angel weopons can hurt angels, despite being the ones to sever Vaggie’s wings. Were the writers even trying. That’s something that should be caught in the first draft let alone the second and overall production wft.

My confidence in my own writing has skyrocketed.

Why are cherri’s bombs effecting the angels? How have they been altered to hurt them. This is not explained or shown by the bombs look any different than the previous ones.

How are Husker’s card hurting the angel’s? Have they been altered? This is the first time we’ve seen them so who knows.

Angels are dying. In the last episode charlie was shown to be bother by this, but all of a sudden she’s fine with it.

Liked the alastor v adam fight, no notes

Why did charlie even show up to the fight? She isn’t doing anything but shielding.

I’m ignoring the cherri/pen kiss cuz that was unearned, but why wouldn’t they give pen the war blimp beforehand? And really? The blimp and pen are gone just like that?

Razzle and dazzle are dragons, cool. Charlie cold have pulled this power out at any time and just didn’t. Why? They are at war. They should have started with that.

And one of them is dead now!?! What was the point of them at all? The second one just disappears. Also, charlie can fight, how? She knows nothing of hell, had rose colored glasses so opaque that she’s blind, but you’re telling me she can fight a guy how goes around killing hundreds once a year. Where did she learn? I doubt lucifer taught her considering their relationship is nearly nonexistent.

Anyway, the fight scenes are pretty good, but there is literally no reason Vaggie should’ve let Lute live. The other angels were less of an threat and they died so why where.

Why did lucifer show up now? They had a month of preparation, why is he here now.

That shitty joke absolute kills the tension and momentum of the scene.

Lucifer v adam fight scene has the same seriousness the one in the first mlp movie. I mean that, watching it and see for yourself. Also, why are they an even match? adam is just a guy, the first one but still just a guy, he should be getting stomped by lucifer. Is he just that weak or is adam that strong, if so why?

Why didn’t adam used the death laser at the start?

WHy did lucifer not transform to start!?!

Why are they showing mercy to these genocidal maniacs? The fuck is that going to do but give them another shot down the road. Heaven isn’t watching, they have nothing to prove. Next time adam could just start with the lazer thing and carve up half of hell.

Adam’s dead, cool. But like, lucifer beating the shit out of him isn’t okay, but niffty stabbing him a thousand times is fine. And again, there are angel dead everywhere, who cares if two more are added to the list.

Okay, so i didn’t do one of these on ep 1 and 2, but killjoy’s voice is bad. It’s just brandon talking. There’s not inflection or anything.

Anyway, fight over I guess.

Cute pet moments, but we’ve gotten little to no interactions with them. Sad song for pen

No, the bloodshed could’ve been avoided if you 1) didn’t sign a paper you didn’t read. 2) went to heaven with a real plan instead of index cards with definitions. 3) Vaggie helped make a plan and 4) use the hell princess powers and dragons at the start of the fight instead of playing with that fucking shield that vanished anyway.

She did not change the town, she started a fight. Her hotel for redemption plan as not taken a single step forward.

Her story is just beginning? It’s the end of the season with only one more to come. Why are they talking up rebuilding the hotel, she has a bunch of money, just pay people to do it. Alastor magic-ed up most of it in the pilot, why can’t he do that again.

As much as I live the Vees, why are they here? Nothing concerning them has happened. They happy because the other overlords are thrown off by what happen, but did anything happen outside of the hotel? If it did, we weren't shown it.

Velvette didn't speak once, damn

Alastor’s missing again? Nevermind, there he is. Thanks for the four second suspense on that. Can’t wait to see what deal he made was about and to who. But like, he was winning the fight. adam almost killing comes out of nowhere. Is he physically weak, so if someone lands a hit on him he goes down easy?

So one of the dragons did die, but which one? Who knows cuz the other one doesn’t show back up.

I did not need to see vox and val making out. Isn’t val just licking a screen?

Sera’s back. And emily, who I called sara 2 cuz names don’t stick in my brain. I guess the problems they were having are solved. Emily what happened to helping charlie- BITCH WHAT

PEN!?!?

Sera looks horrified.

How is charlie threatening the foundation of heaven. idk if lute even knows about pen yet, but like charlie hasn't really done anything yet

Ending thoughts.

Pen being in heaven hopefully means we get to see more of it, but like we didn’t get enough of him as a character. Or anyone for that matter. He died so suddenly that it felt more like a joke than a tragedy.

Ending thoughts for the entire season might come later, but like everything in this was rushed. The songs were lackluster. nothing felt earned, while the answers were handed to the the cast.

I don't have high hopes for season two or the story as a whole

thoughts on creators not tagging their work correctly. example the work is about lewis x reader and every other driver is also tagged. i’ve seen it more in this fandom that others; but when someone asks the creator to tag correctly they respond with everyone does this and they receive more views because of it so if we don’t like it we can just scroll. it’s frustrating as a reader and seems like false advertising, especially when it’s not clear what the pair is until over haft way through a fic.

For transparency - I have sent this message to others that I would like their thoughts/opinions on this topic.

I’m the worst person to ask because I’m so afraid of offending/upsetting anyone ever 🫣

Personally, when I started my tumblr journey many moons ago I was one of those people trying to get my work seen by the most traffic after having every story flop with barely any followers. Some people may still be on that same learning curve I had to go through and it’s just a matter of educating nicely and making some friendly suggestions - unlike the rude messages I received just a few days after joining the platform. It really wasn’t a nice start but we grow and move on and I’m still here. I would hate to lose new creators because they felt attacked when they didn’t know any better.

Also, if someone came from say ao3, the tagging system is quite different in which tagging everyone remotely involved in the story, and not just main love interests/characters, is normal elsewhere but there are subtleties that differentiate romantic from platonic relationships. Generally, the culture on this hellsite (affectionate) will iron out these differences with time when the creator is submersed in its atmosphere for long enough.

As a reader it must be frustrating to think you have found the pairing you were searching for and invest your time and emotion into reading only to get however far into the fic and find it goes in a completely different direction. It would totally be a bummer so I can understand the want for tags to be precise. It’s hard to draw the line with being precise and accidentally giving away the climax or whole story and that’s another reason I guess I could see more tags being used, or misleading tags to save a spoiler etc? Just speculating and playing devils advocate at this stage.

Whilst the tags are useful for searching, I find having a summary at the start of my fics better to give an overall picture of my story - maybe that could be a suggestion to the creators you notice?

TLDR: we should try our best to use the tags appropriately but be kind when/if giving feedback to a creator.
