So I just finished Gilmore Girls for the first time and boy, do I have some thoughts:
First of all, I love this show so much. More than I ever thought I would. It’s just so comforting. I totally get it now.
Now, for specifics.
Lorelai:
I love Lorelai. She does make some dumb choices, but in the end, she’s just so loveable and fun, I can’t help but adore her.
Rory:
I do not get the hate I’ve seen for Rory! Yes, like her mom, she makes stupid decisions, but she’s so wonderful. Maybe it’s just because I relate to her so closely, but I love Rory so much.
Luke:
Ughhhh I love love love Luke. He’s so unexpectedly hilarious sometimes?? I did not foresee that when I started. Scott Patterson is also strangely one of the best actors on the show, which I also did not expect. Luke is a gem, we love him.
Luke & Lorelai:
How could you not love these two together? They’re absolutely perfect for each other and the pining, especially on Luke’s part, makes for incredible television. I do think their dynamic kind of lost the really special ‘will they, won’t they’ tension after season 1/2, but I still ship them. So glad they ended up together. When she was still with Christopher near the end of season 7, I got a little worried.
Paris:
PARIS IS GAY. I will accept nothing less. She is queer in some way, whether she’s a lesbian or bi. She had absolutely no chemistry with any of her love interests but so much with Rory. Also she’s just amazing all around. I fucking love Paris. Make her queer, cowards.
Lane:
How could you not love Lane? She’s the absolute shit. Cool, supportive, loyal, and a fucking rockstar. I didn’t mind her with Zach to begin with (even though I thought it was a bit strange how they all of a sudden liked each other), but when they got married and had kids, that was a big nope for me. Lane Kim deserved to be a famous rockstar.
Emily & Richard:
I went back and forth on these two. On one hand, they’re very entertaining characters and I do believe they’re trying to do what they think is best, but on the other, I think in the end they do more harm than good. The way they dismiss Lorelai’s trauma, and completely disregard everyone else’s opinion because they assume they automatically know what’s best, just rubs me the wrong way. Not to mention the manipulation and the going behind people’s backs. I think there should’ve been an arc at the end where they finally listened to Lorelai and acknowledged what they’d done and tried to change for the better.
Sookie:
Melissa McCarthy is great in everything, and this is no exception. She’s so sweet and lovable, and such a good friend to Lorelai. I love her. Plus her relationship with Jackson is just lovely.
Michel:
He’s such a sarcastic bitch and I love him. I think that’s all there is to say.
The Townies and Side Characters:
Kirk - Kirk is maybe the funniest part of the show and such a little sweetheart, I love him so much.
Babette - aka the best neighbour ever. We deserved even more of her and Morey than we got.
Miss Patty - same goes for Patty! We need more Patty!
Taylor - annoying and obnoxious but the show wouldn’t be the same without him. Irreplaceable.
Gypsy - again, we needed more!! Gypsy was so funny and I just wanted more!
April - I love April! She’s so sweet. I don’t, however, like what her arrival did to Luke and Lorelai’s relationship, and I fucking hate Anna.
Christopher - I don’t hate him, but he’s definitely not one of my favourites. I think it would’ve been a lot better if he and Lorelai had just been really close friends, or if he had just been fully out of the picture.
And finally, the boys:
Dean:
FUCK. DEAN. Do I need to say more? He’s a toxic, possessive, asshole and I hate him. He was okay in the beginning, but the ‘50s episode really clinched my hatred for him. Huge nope from me. What a dick.
Logan:
Man, do I hate Logan. Obviously not as bad as Dean, but he’s such a douchebag!! I genuinely cannot stand him or put up with any of his bullshit. I thought he would grow on me as the show went on but no, I only hated him more.
Jess:
Best for last. My love for this man knows no bounds. Obviously the best fit for Rory, I love them together, but also his relationship with Luke is so great. Also, justice for his and Rory’s relationship while they were dating!! Why did we only get to see it when shit hit the fan? They kept mentioning how they were going to hang out, that they were meeting up later on, so why didn’t we get to see any of it? Why did we only get to see them when Jess fucked up? I hate that. I also hate that they didn’t end up together, even when Jess grew and changed and bettered himself. Anyway, I just love him. I could talk about him forever.
A Year in the Life:
They tried to fit 22 episodes worth of Gilmore Girls into 4 episodes, and it didn’t work. The first episode did an okay job, and I did kind of love the last episode (the wedding!), but the middle two were. . . yikes. No theme song/opening titles? No transitions? NO SOOKIE EXCEPT FOR ONE SCENE AT THE END? Michel thinking about leaving the inn and Lorelai being abandoned by both of her friends? No Jackson? Rory being with an engaged Logan? Basically no Jess except for a few scenes, one of which broke my heart? I could go on forever.
That being said, they should make more after the cliffhanger they left us on. I’ll take whatever I can get, even if it’s subpar.
Anyway those are just a few of my many thoughts about this show. I can’t believe I waited until now to watch it. I need someone to talk about this show with so if you see this and want to talk, DM me.

Imagine if the live action HTTYD remakes reshaped the franchise in Dean's original vision prior to uhhh. The HTTYD 2 super-rewrite. And then made the ending of HTTYD THW actually work in the narrative.
HTTYD LA: Same movie as before except Toothless and Hiccup develop a relationship which is a lot more master/pet focused (a la the books) than the species-transcending platonic soulmates shit they've got going on in the animated franchise. Moments during the Forbidden Friendship, See You Tomorrow and Test Drive sequences especially could totally hammer this point home.
HTTYD 2 LA: Dragon-Viking culture on Berk now resembles Book!Book in that it's peaceful but unhealthy. Toothless is treated as a pet and is implied to not enjoy this. Valka is the villain and is batshit insane, Drago is foreshadowed, Valka kills Stoick, Hiccup defeats her and becomes chief (he pulls a Hiccup Is A Pacifist and tells her to leave with her dragons and never come back a la Furious in the books). Toothless defeats the Bewilderbeast on his own but instead of this being framed as a Protect My Soulmate thing, it's moreso framed as asserting Toothless as being his own dragon rather than just Hiccup's pet.
HTTYD 3 LA: Drago is a thing now. Optional stuff happens here. That conflict gets resolved. Hiccup loves the dragons and will go up against literal warlords to protect them, but dragons and vikings still separate in the end because Dragon-Viking culture is toxic as shit (a la the books). Toothless is the one to make this decision and Hiccup finally treats him like an individual instead of a pet, allowing him to make this decision.
OPTIONAL:
If you really want the Hidden World to be a thing, then sure. Let Drago attack the Hidden World and Hiccup and Toothless defend it. Personally, I don't like the Hidden World right down to the very concept, but if you really want it, then I can see it working. Hell, they could find Valka living down there with all her dragons which could alleviate some concerns about introducing foreign dragons, etc.
Toothless being the only Night Fury. We know Drago's arm was bitten off by a Night Fury, so he could have a personal vendetta against them and kill every single one he finds instead of using them for his dragon army. Would be a lot easier for Drago to hunt Night Furies with a fucking Bewilderbeast than it would be for Grimmel with six Deathgrippers and Magic Poison™.
The Light Fury and the Night Lights. Toothless would totally be willing to sit by and watch her shoot at Hiccup in this AU. Give her an actual personality, make her hate humans (trauma from being in Drago's army) with a fierce passion, make her violent and strong. She could totally have chemistry with Toothless in this AU, given Toothless's detestation of being treated as a pet and her trauma and hatred of humans. Instead of bait, she's a threat.
If I had the time, I'd write this myself (who am I kidding I might try to anyway). Like, I really hate Man vs Nature stories where Man Bad Nature Good for many reasons, but hey, if there's any reason to remake the franchise, this is it. Recreate HTTYD 2 in it's original vision and make THW work within the narrative in a way that everyone can get down with.

Part 2 and 3 of the dead weather live masterpost! 🖤🖤🖤
The Dead Weather video masterpost part 2 (the deep cuts and other fun stuff mostly in bad quality) 1. The Dead Weather - Hustle and Cuss / New Pony - Don Hills - 8/4/2010 The whole Don Hills show is insane, here's a playlist from it watch every video, this is one of their best shows even if it's unhinged af. You can expect some best of Alison moments. She gets me every time when she ends a song laying on the stage. Bonus: Jack gets pissed and starts yelling at the crowd. I love that LJ just casually keeps playing and Dean tries to not laugh.
2. The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother - Celebrate Brooklyn 08/03/2010 If I know it well it was their last show in the 2010 tour circle, one of their best next to the Don Hills one, search for every video from this show, this was the last song of the set. The energy is insane, "Stand up like a fuckin' man" is gold and the audience reacts properly. Also if you want to see Dean spit his guitar pick far while wilding on the keyboard this is your video. Bonus: he gives a hug to Alison in the end which is sweet.
3. The Dead Weather - Rolling In On A Burning Tire (live in Berlin) This is a rare treat, they've had this song as a soundtrack for Twilight, I don't think they played it live any other times. 4. The Dead Weather - Bone House (Live At First Ave) It’s rare again from 2010, Bone house just unexpectedly turned into Mile markers at 3:22. It's cool because 30 seconds of Mile markers was the hidden track on the Sea of Cowards album, later they finished the song and it landed on the Dodge and burn album. This is the only live version from it if we don't count the Dodge and burn promo video series.
5. Dead Weather, No Hassle Night/I just want to make love to you This is one of the hottest shit they've ever done on stage, Will there be enough water is one thing, but you know it hits differently when Jack straight up screams he just wants to make love to you. 6. The Dead Weather - Will there be enough water? - Brixton Academy, London - 29th October 2009 I don't think I have to explain the chemistry and Jack's mic drop + bonus from the end of the same show: Jack drags Alison off stage
7. This is an I can't hear you compilation: -Jack pushes Alison offstage -Dean forgets his part, and Jack gets a "guitar bj" lol -They are not kissing -Alison grabs Jack by the hair - I can't tell where her hand goes at some point, but Jack jumps down from the stage that's sure -One of the first live versions of this song -Early version again, Alison is climbing up to places 8. Will there be enough water compilation: -Jack is drunk -Jack tickles Alison lol -They are just cute in the end -The way she puts the mic in front of him -Best version on guitar with the slide ring -Let's sing into each other's mouth even if the mic is not in front of us -Not the usual video angle, if you ask me that's Jack's way to ask for a hug 9. You just can't win compilation - Jack is drunk again but it's funny -Jack is drunk and starts dancing -Jack is not drunk but "dances" with Alison 10. The Dead Weather - A Child of a Few Hours - Vic Theatre Chicago July 29 Just the usual Jack+Alison thing again This is not all, but I'm gonna stop here right now for the part 2, the list is endless, I hope you find some in these you haven't seen yet.

my rating of supernatural season 1
1 - pilot
this is a damn good pilot. i will be so real. it does a great job of drawing you immediately into the story, giving you a lay of the land of the characters and their dynamics, and sets up not only the greater premise of the show but the monster of the week formula. the chemistry between ackles and padalecki is pretty instantaneous and it's nice to see a show with two leads able to carry it on their charisma alone. fortunately, there's also a lot more left to offer. whoever the person was who wrote the first wincest fic like two hours after this aired, i get it. 7/10
2 - w*nd*g*
not saying the title because i belong to the school of i don't want to fuck around and find out. this episode was alright, as someone from colorado one of the most common demographics of people who come here are "dumbass hikers" so i appreciate the nod to our culture. other than that, it was pretty unremarkable. 4/10
3 - dead in the water
this one was pretty solid! it gave the boys a pretty good mystery to solve and it sets a dark tone for the rest of the series. the theme of self sacrifice is also set up well here. drowning is also just like. a pretty gnarly way to die. 5/10
4 - phantom traveler
i found the demon in this one to be pretty cool, but if i'm completely honest i don't necessarily care for the episodes that break the impala motel fucked up town setting dynamic. i also just don't care a lot for this kind of plane horror. you can see that plane hijjacking is a trope kripke enjoys, however, as he uses it again in the boys. 4/10
5 - bloody mary
this one genuinely fucked me up, and it sets up the fact that sam has been receiving visions really subtly and effectively, given how they tend to play out more in episodes more explicitly devoted to the demon the winchesters are hunting. also bloody mary always scared the shit of me out as a kid so i adamantly refused to say it. 8/10
6 - skin
this is the kind of body horror i personally really enjoy, and it was also crazy seeing some of the greater repercussions the boy's lifestyles has on their lives. at least it'll be a legal nightmare if dean gets caught doing credit card fraud because, thanks to this episode, he is legally dead. also the fact that the shapeshifter turns into people's romantic partners but for the brothers it tempts them with... each other? normal show about a normal brotherly relationship. 8/10
7 - hook man
any horror that involves faith i am immediately behind. this will be a theme throughout this summary. i found the idea that the monster was manifested by lori's own repressions to be especially compelling, and done really well. the idea that our own repressions can inadvertently cause harm to others around us if we don't sit and take time to work through them is fantastic. lori was also my favorite quasi-love interest for sam this season. sue me. i thought they were cute. 7/10
8 - bugs
we have our first instance of the "sam and dean trigger so many fag alarms it overrides the normal amount of homophobia any rural midwesterner feels at any given moment in time". sam and dean are better than me because i would have for real left the people building a housing development on old sacred american indian land and let them die. other than that development, the final battle with the bugs was a bit anticlimatic. points for dean slapping sam's ass. what. 4/10
9 - home
missouri mosely i am letting you know that i am free this wednesday and would be maybe willing to get a coffee or another delicacy this week on wednsday when i am free. for real though, i really liked missouri's character, and it's a pity she gets relegated to a magical negro stereotype, as this show doesn't tend to have a great track record with its female characters. however, she was probably one of my favorite side characters this season and i stand by her and would love to learn more about her. other than that, loved this episode. sammy's psychic abilities reappearing, dean reconfronting his childhood trauma, mary winchester sacrificing herself for her boys in a way that just sucked the soul out of my body, JOHN WINCHESTER????? definitely one of the seasonal highlights. 9/10
20 - asylum
i hate the haunted asylum trope and this didn't subvert it enough to make this worth it. it gets points for the john winchester phone call event and sam being forced to sit through a therapy session and talk about his relationship to his brother offscreen. 3/10 [edit: came back to this one and i think i'm gonna bump it up to a 5/10 because some truly unhinged samdean shit happens in this, and every time i see a gifset from it i'm immediately like oh right They Did That. insane.]
11 - scarecrow
Codependency Thee Episode. besides a genuinely good evil force (i love small town/suburban white people trying to deal with forces beyond their control it's so funny like what are the hoa and pta meetings like), it does a good job letting there be conflict between the brothers and show how they are really better together. also sets up meg as an antagonist, and she serves. 6/10
12 - faith
oh this episode had Everything. sam and dean being typically codependent with the fear that dean's gonna die? tent revival preacher whose abilities actually come from a dark force? critique of american evangelicalism? surprisingly nuanced discussion of how faith in and of itself is not evil and how we all make concessions in our personal beliefs to care for the others around us? the absolute batshit revelation that sam is just like. unfazed if people die if he can save the life for his brother? don't fear the reaper needle drop? it has it all. what can i say. 10/10
13 - route 666
overall not a bad episode, the handling of race felt a bit superficial and on the nose, but america's legacy does lead to the racist-ass ghost being a pretty fun thing to destroy. preyed on my fear of big trucks. dean is a romantic sap. 5/10
14 - nightmare
THIS EPISODE IS MY REASON FOR EVERYTHING. FUCK. THIS IS PEAK EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT THIS SHOW. max damn near broke my heart, and it was incredible seeing not only more of sam's abilities but also his empathy. you can really tell he doesn't know what would have happened to him if he hadn't had the family he does have. this episode completely ripped my heart out. 10/10
15 - the benders
everyone told me this was a great episode and i'm so grateful for my friends pals and mutuals who would never lie to me. i had the best time. i like the care this episode had, given that the show primarily focused on supernatural forces, to do a classic case of the "humans are oftentimes more evil than spirits and creatures from beyond our wildest imagination". it's one of my favorite tropes, and it was used so well here. the aesthetics of the show as well felt like the texas chainsaw massacre mixed with duck dynasty, which is an unexpectedly brilliant combo. 10/10
16 - shadow
getting to see the john/sam/dean dynamic is so fascinating but honestly this episode gives me hives just thinking about it. 5/10
17 - hell house
this episode didn't stick the landing for me as much as it could have, despite the concept of enough people believing in a haunting that they manifest it (and the internet exacerbating that) being really fucking good. i will give it some grace, i think it's good to have an episode that allows some levity in the show and in the brothers' relationship. 4/10
18 - something wicked
i'm sorry the boys as kids make me feel like really ontologically sick and miserable. it was really cool getting a deeper glimpse into dean and his intrinsic sense of responsibility for sam, as well as his clear empathy for kids that is often a lot less evident than sam's. dean winchester i love you, i just can't think about you as a baby or it will make me cry. 8/10
19 - provenance
i'm sorry, i really didn't care for this episode. most we got out of it was seeing why sam was hesitant to open himself up to new love after jess and dean's vested interest into getting his brother laid. which. uh. i will say the little ghost girl in her sweeney todd era served cunt. 3/10
20 - dead man's blood
can't believe true blood came out after this episode and not before. i like episodes that take place in colorado for personal reasons, but it was also so fun to see the boys take on some vampires, who have some pretty fun mechanics. this episode also introduces us to the series mcguffin, and i just have to say i think it's pretty funny how the boys get the colt and immediately like use all the magic bullets in one go. it's the opposite energy of when i get a cool item in a video game and hold onto it the whole time, even in occasions where i'm supposed to use it, because i'm scared i might need it later. 9/10
21 - salvation
feels unfair to rank this episode and devil's trap separately. all i will say is i got jumpscared by kansas because i wasn't expecting the wayward son to carry on until the next episode. 10/10
22 - devil's trap
eric kripke what the fuck. i can't even articulate my thoughts on this. i hate this show and everyone involved in it. 10/10

BL ~ Drama Asks
Thank you for tagging me @pose4photoml 🥰 I love these tag-games! They are always so much fun 😊
If you had to watch one drama forever what would it be?
Be loved in house: I do. Don’t know what it is exactly that I like that much about this series, but I love it, especially the main couple (I just ignore that there is a second couple). I could watch Jin Yu Zhen and Shi Lei fall in love with each other in an endless loop.
Old Fashion Cupcake is on a solid second place 😊
2. If you could change the ending of a drama which one would it be?
I could say The Miracle of Teddy Bear. I saw so many rant-posts about the ending and I am sitting here and thinking about the pure beauty of it. Everything is about context. But back to the question 😊
My answer: In your heart.
3. Name your favorite drama and tell who your favorite character was.
Hm. I have a few favourite dramas, it always depends on my mood and the genre, but for this I choose Old Fashion Cupcake and even though I can relate to Nozue very much, my favourite character is Togawa. He is pure sunshine and brave and just lovable.
4. Name a drama you dropped within the first few episodes ~ we all have at least one!
I haven’t dropped a drama, yet. I always try to watch them, even though I hate every minute. I just sit here and rant about it. I wish I could just drop shit, then I could say: Check Out, no thank you!
5. Name a popular drama you've never watched and why?
There are still so many I haven’t watched! How could I name just one? I choose: SOTUS S or Gameboys. Can’t say why I haven’t watched them yet. I wasn’t in the right mood for them I guess.
6. Name a drama you regret watching.
That’s my candy…watching this gave me a headache. I really disliked it. So much, but I watched it!
7. Name a drama you thought you’d never watch but did and did you end up liking it?
Light on me. I watched the first minutes, put it on hold, wasn’t feeling it at this time, came back and watched from the beginning. Loved it! One of my favourite series. Namgoong Shiwoon and Noh Shin Woo will always have a place in my heart.
8. Name a pairing you want to see?
Tankhun, Arm and Pol (KinnPorsche) in a polyamorous relationship. They deserved to be happy in love too!
9. Name a pairing you didn’t think had chemistry?
Pharm and Dean – Yes! It was unpleasant to watch -.- My personal answer: every pairing from Oxygen.
10. Name a pairing you have seen in another drama that you like?
Like Jin Yu Zhen and Shi Lei from Be loved in house: I do and as a cameo in Plus & Minus?
Or like OffGun or EarthMix? Well then EarthMix in A tale of thousand stars and Cupid’s Last Wish 😊
~~~~~~~
Today I feel like tagging some people 🙈 Just if you like and if not, just ignore me 😋
Superpowereds liveblog part 2.
So Nick grew up in what, a mob casino? Wild! Insane.
Party for finals, held by upperclassmen. Cool.
PRESENTATION GUEST SPEAKER EH? a powered. Interesting. I get what Dean Blaine is trying to do but holy fuck, Nick is so paranoid. Like I get it, literally raised tht way whatever, but goddamn. Get this kid some Sertraline.
Party time! Nice to see Hersch out and about. I love that he's tapping Roy's memories for all the partying. As soon as someone starts pursuing Herschel and not Roy, I have a feeling Hersch is going to take on that "nerd that gets a TON but nobody understands why he does" stereotype. I'm not going to complain if it happens.
Fuckin. Is whiskey one of Roy's triggers? That's hilarious. God, having a cowboy brother/headmate is hilarious.
Alex clocks Nick having fun, partyboys Herschel and Nick content WHEN.
This guy Chris just cheats at beer pong but he can't hold his liquor because it's too good. Metaphor for something here, I can feel it. He gives up because Angela says to. Nice. Wonder what her deal is.
Alright, finals weeeeek! Nick's a movie guy, I love that. Vince is literally me prepping for shit. I love ya, silver.
NICK CALLED THEM HIS FRIENDS. AWH.
"Just an easygoing guy I guess." Nick you have OCD levels of paranoia and anxiety. Girl.
"if you want enlightenment, I think there's guys that have some." "Huh?" Oh my god, Vince you're a nerd ass.
VIDEO STORE WHAT Y E A R IS IT.
Finals! Nice.
Last man standing. Got it. Into the Labyrinth.
Okay, last three standing, top three killstreak. Neat.
"Do. Nothing." King shit.
Roy is out! Against an Amber. Neat! I think Roy deserves a pal or two. He's a dick, but I think some solid friends might be able to coax him into at least not being a TOTAL ass.
Alex and Vince team up? Fun.
Mary has located Nick. "Lead on, O champion of the misfit Supers." Ugh. They're so good dynamic wise.
"I'M NOT! A FUCKING! TELEPATH!" ALEX!!!MY LIL JEDI!!!
Alice knocked out two! Nice.
Vince ate his taser! Nice. Down Thomas goes.
Nick is using Mary as his stand. God. I kith him.
"Emotional growth can wait for later."
A siren? Oooo! How evil. Nice. Alex and Vince down.
"/Playboy/ has issues. /I/ have personality." Nick is just explaining how he reads people to the girl who can read his mind, because she doesn't get the context. Goddamn. "Mister sad-sack. Get some bitches."
"Does Vince really think of me as his best friend? 🥺"
Chad? Why can't she read Chad's mind I wonder? He wants to 1v1 Mary? Fuckin Pog.
I like Chad. I again just hear my fucking ex boyfriend in his VA. It's hard to hear.
"Sometimes doing the right thing leaves you feeling like an asshole."
I need to know WHYYY she can't hear Chad. Whyyyyyyyy. Oh my god he's altered his brain chemistry and frequency? That's so cool. I like Chad. He seems a cool guy.
Alice got GOT!
It's an invisibility person? Nick is out. That's the melbrook kids gone!
Final exam, Melbrook style. Climbing a fucking mountain?????? Christ.
Nick eye reveal after almost fucking dying? Aw. They're brown. That was a gay ass sentence, Vince.
Oh my god it's our bonding trip!!! Childhood trauma talking. I love all of them.
"You make the call." Nice. They're bondingggg.
"Nick, I'm right here." "Oh I know."
Christmas at home. Nick, Mary and Herschel are what I expected. Alice is so... Oh, baby girl. The maid is fucking Colleen Delaney, and my brain went /RUBY JOURNEY?/ because the other graphic audio production I listened to had her in a main character role, Deathstalker!
Found day. Vince...
We're back together! Nick won a car. What a dweeb. Vince is showing signs of that paladin rigidity.
Sasha! Nice. (And Julia, and the Murray twins.)
Alice keeps punching Nick. I'm amused. (Ellie spraying Ike with water also made me laugh. It's the same dynamic.)
The foley for this production is immense. The movie in the background of Numbers and Transport is good. I wonder what the lesson was. It's early, I'll probably get it later.
Alright, so we've got combat/alternative placings! Vince, Mary, and Herschel into combat, Nick and Alice into alt iirc?
Tumblr media
Vince rn lmao
I had the system explained to me prior so I knew the whole "competing against past years" thing. That's wild, but it makes sense. They'd just try again anyway, might as well streamline the process. Ten spots for graduation, huh? I hope at least a couple of the Melbrook kids make it. I'm not expecting them to, but maybe I've just read too much Wildbow. He left his protagonists fate up to a dice roll. Nobody is safe over there.
Into combat and alt training. Holy shit, listening to Nick have a fucking seizure was delightful I mean, so crazy. Hell yes, alt training, that's where I'd want to go.
Herschel paRTYBOY ARC WE ARE GETTING ITTTTT
Alice and Mary dress up montage!!
WILL BUGGED JILL? LMAO!!!!
Jill sends dudes after Will. This is clearly like, a haha gay people funny joke, and yet, I'm amused. Is this homophobic of me or am I just like "Jill clocked her brother and is just going about it the wrong way and THAT is funny"
Camille... Shy? Camille- oh my god they've MET! That's ADORABLE! Oh shit she's the injury transferrer! In talking to my dad I've learned of her. Jeez. That's potent as hell. She's so baby. And Vince doesn't remember?? That's adorable.
Okay, cool, so Alice has a friend, that's neat. Let's expose Mary to some culture. I like it.
"Cute? /Him/? ///REALLY?///" Alice. Girl...
Hersch asked Mary! Good! Look at them bumble around like newborn fawns together. The fact that it specifically calls that she isn't using her power, too? Ughhhh!!! so cute
Combat training. Roy v Chad always, and then other combat partners. Nick keeps getting shut down for being mouthy, I think it's cute. Ugh. I could break him.
Roy getting continuously beat is so good. He's got that spirit though. Oh, Roy manifested to protect Herschel? That's adorable! I love all the little flashbacks. Ugh. Ugh!!! This is so emotionally investing!
Mary said "ya got daddy issues and you're taking it out on us" and Roy said "fuck off!" nice. Chad still wants to spar, what a... A Chad, I guess.
Parents weekend? Ooh. Tfw only two people in your dorm have parents that care. Sasha is so cute. I hope she doesn't die or something.
"Nick go hang out with Alice." "Fuck off." "Please?" "Fine." And he's having *fun* dammit. Even if he's getting shoes thrown at him.
Nick's got his... Bouncer? Mary has her parents, Hersch has his mom, and poor Alice is stuck hanging out with her dad who didn't actually come for her.
Nick wanted Vince to come along! Aw, baby BOY. Vince is just so nice.
"For a conman you sure have a strict moral code." Go comfort Alice, oh my goddd she's gonna cry dude! Look at her she's got anxiety!!!!!
Ohhhh my god he's putting on the fucking WILES. He's so!!! She's gonna collapse oh my god. No glasses too!!! Aaaaugh???
"We've only been together for a few minutes and you already know I'm into the kinky shit." "I am going to k i l l you." Fake dating ends me ends me ends me. I think I like them so much because I already write Essentially This Dynamic with mine and my friend's OCS. It's ridiculous.
Transport asking Vince to eat so he isn't alone. Hrghrhhrm.... adorable.
Ma Daniels, a competent woman after my own heart.
Date went solid, Alice is starting to /flutter/. Nick is solidly in denial that he likes his friends, or will call them his friends at all. Ugh.
Dean Blaine sounds like how I imagine Vice Principal Goldenhoard from d20. Big booming voice.
Chad isn't hangin out huh? Wild. Anyway Roy got slutshamed. Swag.
Part 2 officially complete.
Asking Mary out! There's some Otome game ass music in the background. I'm half expecting to hear a soft /Doki Doki!/
Everyone is just like "oh my fucking god FINALLY" lmao
Nick is playing into his avoidant streak, thinking he's going to make Alice hate him when really she's just going to get jealous. Wild play. It's Bubbles! She's cute. Poor thing is gonna get her heart broken.
Here's the point where I got into the car so imma speed summarize.
Alice getting a surprise birthday party was adorable! The Melbrooks really went all out and I'm glad, she deserves it. I was so wowed by Nick's gift that I audibly said "this is so cute I'm going to puke". What else... Vince has some sort of sexual trauma, inchresting. Ranged practice was before that and I? Am just so. Hmm, about Nick's upbringing. Three? You learned to shoot at three? I knew he was faking immediately, it reminded me of the scene in spiderverse where Miles gets every answer wrong on purpose. Vince cast chain lightning. Michaels got a drinking and ego problem.
Anyway, it's lake trip time. My impending sense of doom is building. Something is going to go wrong, I can feel it. There's no way finals will come THAT easy.
That will be all for today.
I just got blasted on a post on SM on the Retta story for pointing out the truth. This is all Jenna and Christina's fault and realized this is clearly a situation of fans who know and fans who don't know lol.
I am in fact a boring white minivan suburban house mom. have been here since the beginning so I think we all know what was happening if you were paying attention. My initial love of the show was the fact that they were 3 "basic bitches" who could get away with stuff. But then no they had to dumb down Rio. Make Beth a "bad ass". Force Dean down our throats.
I love every cast member from their past work (from Manny to Reno) and supported the show simply because of them even if I hate watched and walked away alot then came on here to anon my annoyance into the void.
But I can't be as annoyed at Rhetta because I can understand if she's annoyed at loosing the paycheck.
It's Chriatina (who I used to be a huge fan of) and Jenna that pissed me off. Their obsession with Dillard (still love him but hate Dean) is what ruined the shows writing. And it's clear none of the main cast embraced Manny. Why would Manny want to stay when he got like 5 lines an episode and was the major draw.
Anyways again I just laughed at how outraged everyone on that post was to me when I blamed Christina. There really are 2 types of fans out there. Watching this show after season 2 was a huge exercise in patience.
And one final thing I did watch Manny in all his prior work. He had and has chemistry with every male and female he's ever worked with. I mean I saw the man sell me chemistry in a prison visiting room with his boyfriend by simply touching hands under the table. If anyone credits Cristina with the chemistry between Beth and Rio, well that's a damn lie.
I feel like CH, because she was the “biggest star” on the show (Emmy nominated and all that for a show from a decade ago) and when she got that executive producer credit in the last 2 seasons, she had pull that no one else had. Matthew Lillard (Dean) being in the show for as long as he was was a big indicator IMO.
Retta while I understand her frustration in losing a check, was just plain wrong & petty (and still not getting booked so 🤷🏾‍♀️).
And Beth/CH fans are weirdly unhinged when it comes to her so I wouldn’t pay them any mind.
The executive production team (Jenna, Bill etc) is to blame for sure. I have theory that Manny’s issue with GG was not only the 3 leads, but the executive production team.
All in all, they (cast & some fans) needed someone to blame and decided to put the blame on a person who they didn’t already like and a person who didn’t take their shit. And that was Manny. It backfired though.
Fwiw, The Eclipse was what got me into gmmtv! I will say that it is a highschool setting, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless bc it's got a bit of those "boarding school" vibes even though it's not truly that. Not to mention if you enjoy FK, they're absolutely phenomenal in the show. The plot was great until the last couple eps where it suffered a bit, but the FK chemistry alone CARRIED that show soo well. One look between them had so much. Plus the side pairing was also easy to get invested in!
Pt 2 of The Eclipse rec (sorry for rambling haha) but wanted to add, I watched 2gether & just couldn't get into it bc I struggled with the main characters chemistry and some of the acting. But none of those issues there with Eclipse! F&K are incredible talents and have a lot of awesome range. Plus having seen First in Not Me, it's wild how different his character is in eclipse but he still does so well! Plus the show covers a lot of themes about mental health, grief, class diff, etc.
Babydoll never apologize for rambling my ask box is open for a reason
I'll admit, I'm not a huge~~ fan of GMMTV shows like they're getting better, they're doing more and taking more risks and I'm hella happy for them. I'm def checking out Midnight Museum b/c supernatural horror is my fucking shit that hits every hot point I have I've watched some other GMMTV shows and they just....didn't hit for me.
2Gether was booooooooring it was so boring, the actor who played Sarawat couldn't act lord have mercy I'm sorry to that man but he couldn't he was so stiff I was like somebody lube up his face and joints a bit also the plot broke my brain like Tine just fucking tell Green you don't like him or don't wanna date him and if he keeps pressuring you report his ass to your uni dean like my god you couldn't find ONE girl to pretend to be your girlfriend ugggh so dumb and his friends were so ANNOYING anyways
I did love First in Not Me, and you bring up a reason why I like First in general; he's had a lot of screen partners (romantic ones) and that's only helped his acting imo. To the surprise of no one who's been following my blog for a minute I do not like Acting Pairs (I refuse to call them ships they're coworkers). Don't get me wrong I like different APs like I'm ready to see Nouel and Boss in another series together I freaking loved them as Rain and Payu it'd be dope.
BUT I'd 1000% be down to see Nouel and Peat in a series together as romantic leads too. And Boss/Fort too because why not?? Why not??? They all have great chemistry together let's mix things up! I've said for a while now I'd love to see Apo and Bible in a series together b/c they have awesome chemistry and they're both strong actors so why not?? I find it limiting to both the actors and the audience to constantly restrain them under strict Acting Pairs.
I saw someone on twitter say they thought they could never ship Perth (of SaintPerth fame) with someone else again but now they could and that's just bonkers thinking to me idk idk ANYWAYS
I guess I gotta give The Eclipse a try if only for First and Khao b/c I do like them individually and I just gotta ignore the knee shorts as ridiculous as they look. The show sounds pretty good conceptually ugggh it's on the list but my god high school settings First can't even pass for a high school my god lmao
in character questions
Answer these in character, and feel free to add gifs into your answers.
1.) What did you want to do with your life when you were younger? What would the child version of yourself think about the path you paved for yourself?
I’ll tell you one thing, I never expected to find myself owning a bar!  But here I am.  As soon as I got into Dalton, I knew I had to do something with my life but even at the end of four years, I had no real idea as to what.  My mother told me at the end of my junior year, Nicky, if you don’t know what you want to do, find out what you want to learn more about. Go to school, learn a trade, do something. So I applied to several business schools, and thought maybe I’d become an accountant.  I always did well in math, you know?  And somehow, I ended up with an MBA from NYU.  With so many of my friends still in NYC, or who visit NYC a lot, we always seem to be missing a place to hang out.  A small inheritance from my grandfather turned into the down payment for The Commons. The rest they say, is history.
Tumblr media
2.) What is your proudest accomplishment? Don’t be afraid to  talk about what it took to achieve it and how you feel about it as well.
Am I allowed to say still managing to get into NYU after what happened my Senior year?  Let’s just say, it probably made for a better admission essay than anything else that had happened to me by then.   I am also really proud of this little piece of the city I’ve carved out for my friends and family, and the new ones I’m making through the club’s regulars.  Even if this might be part of why my engagement ended.  It just wasn’t meant to be.
Tumblr media
3.) If you could do anything you wanted for one whole day, what would it be and why?
Oh God!  I have the best answer for this.  The Warblers take over Broadway.  We sneak in, *cough*wedon’ttalkaboutWarblerprecompetitionrituals*cough*, take over a Broadway stage, perform our old faves, and some new contemporary, and basically just act like the huge dorks we were in high school.  Including red solo cups of alcohol we stole from our parents, or used fake ids to buy.  Oh no, I really am one of those peaked in High School, Glory Days kind of guy.  Shit!
Tumblr media
where are they now? {tw:death}
Even after the steroid scandal that rocked the Warblers in his senior year, Nick was able to turn that into a real learning and growing experience by making it the topic of his admission essays.  He ended up accepted to several schools, including NYU where he went, because one of his aunt and uncle’s plus his maternal grandparents living in the city.
Business school actually ended up suiting Nick, and he went on to complete an MBA at NYU in seven years.  Nick cut back his course work in his senior year, completing it in two years, to ensure he’d have the marks to get into the MBA program and because his grandfather was ill.    When his grandfather was ill, and he was at the hospital a lot, Nick met Emily, a nursing student on his grandfather’s floor.  They dated for several years before getting engaged when Nick finished his MBA.  Neither was in a rush to get married though, wanting to save up for a wedding, a honeymoon, and a bigger place.
When Nick’s grandfather passed, Nick had received a small inheritence.  After working a bit in the business world, Nick felt stale and almost on a whim, he decided to buy a bar, and renovate it, with the goal of turning it into a hang out for his friends.  He felt like it was an investment, but Emily thought they could better spend the money on their future.  It started to become a bone of contention between the couple.  Nick modelled it after the Dalton Academy Senior Commons where the Warblers practiced, naming it The Commons.
Since The Commons has opened just over a year ago, things got progressively worse between Nick and Emily, with their engagement ending in May of this year.  Since then, Nick has moved out of their shared apartment and is now living out of the guest room at his aunt and uncles, when he doesn’t crash at a friends, or on the couch in his tiny office at the bar.
Can I ask about Henrickson in/for/as hbo!spn?
yeah hbo henriksen is absolutely [shadowboxing in his empty apartment in the middle of the night after waking up from another dream about an ex-wife] [shitty cold coffee at 2 am in the morning in the office, poring through security cam footage] [obsessing over Sam and Dean because the chase is all he has] [photographic memory] [absolute stunner of a right hook] [survives Jus in Bello because he drops six salt rounds into the demon that was about to escape the exorcism] [takes every obsessive hungry heroic caring lonely cell of his brain and pours it into becoming a hunter] [gets hold of a pair of enochian brass knuckles and makes them his favored weapon] [flirts aggressively with Dean every time they cross paths after that] [partners with Nancy to trap and exorcise demons all over the American West] [hooks up with Dean once in season 4] [they share a cigarette on the balcony after and watch streetlights twinkle in the distance] [Dean tells him he remembers Hell and Victor touches his bare shoulder once, gently] [keeps getting inked with more anti-possession tattoos because he can’t scrub out the nausea of what it was like to hold a demon inside him] [by season 8 he has a rep as the hunter you call up when you can’t fucking find the monster] [when it evades you time and again and you’ve chased it across state lines and all you have are scattered clues and nothing to link them together] [victor henriksen is the guy you call] [victor henriksen is the guy with the sharp grin and steel-trap gaze and the brain that connects dots with the speed of a supercomputer] [victor henriksen, they say, has never lost his quarry—he caught the Winchesters once, they say—]
Supernatural Opinions That’ll Have Me Burned At The Stake Pt 1.
• John Winchester is more sympathetic than Dean.
• Literally every single angel in the series (except maybe Ishim) had 100% justifiable and understandable motives, and none of them were genuinely evil.
• The demons deserved 97% more sympathy than they got (yes, all of them) because they were literally tortured into being the way they are.
• The hunters on the show are the real villains. The supernatural creatures were just existing as they instinctually should have.
• There was absolutely no reason to bring Mary back at all, and they 100% only did it to provide Dean specifically with more personal Angst. Because everything’s about Dean.
• They did Bela so so dirty and there was no reason at all that 432 other boring ass characters got storyline after storyline and resurrection after resurrection when she didn’t even get mentioned post-death #1.
• Anything to do with Ben/Lisa/Dean was legit just the most boring thing I’ve ever seen, like I literally skipped past those parts cause I cared 0% about any of that.
• Claire was cool at first but they put everything into making her a mini-Dean and she ended up being a whiny annoying rude trying-too-hard-to-look-badass mess (surprise surprise).
• Alex was way more likeable and interesting than Claire, she should’ve gotten the lead storyline in that arc.
• The whole Claire/Kaia thing was nice from a representation standpoint I guess but there was zero chemistry and only like 2 scenes of lead-up and the entire time I was just thinking “what in the hell are they supposedly falling in love for, this feels so forced” lmao.
• Metatron was my fav even before his big redemptive scene, I stanned one petty weirdo full-stop all the way through his dicking around with Cas and everything, y’all simply do not have Taste.
• Same with Amara. Loved her even when she wanted to destroy the known universe. Stanned her. Supported her, even. And also she had an incredibly heartbreaking and sympathetic and dynamic storyline, but some of y’all couldn’t see the substance in her cause you were too busy being pissed that she flirted with your trash monster (Dean).
• I’m very sorry, but Charlie was annoying as all shit.
• Not only did Dean abuse Cas, but Dean abused Sam literally throughout the entire show, from the very first scene.
• Speaking of Sam, he’s probably the most caring, kind, empathetic, genuinely good person on the entire show. He’s an actual cinnamon roll, and every single person that holds him even 1% accountable for the leaving for college thing, or the demon blood thing, or the not looking for Dean in purgatory thing… y’all can eat my shorts.
• Cas was better friends with Sam than he ever was with Dean. They have more of a profound bond too. He was ordered to rescue Dean from Hell and had an army of other angels with him, but he chose to rescue Sam and went in completely alone. If that’s not more profound idk what is.
• I like Balthazar better than Gabriel, fight me on it.
• Hannah and Cas were actually hella cute together. And so were Cas and Meg.
• The Winchesters did not deserve Crowley. They also didn’t deserve Rowena.
• Sam and Dean aren’t actually heroes at all tbh because 75% of all the major apocalyptic problems that have happened on the show was literally their fault. And they almost never solved said problems themselves. They coerced supernatural beings into doing it for them.
• I liked the angels way better in season 4, when they were terrifying mythical beings of eldritch proportions that even the demons were scared of. Held more gravity, I think.
• After Bobby was killed off, the whole vibe of the show kinda fell apart. Like the team/family feeling was just never quite there after that, and it sorta killed it for me tbh.
• Chuck being a mega douche wasn’t the mind blowing plot twist they thought it was. Like that was predictable. It would’ve been more meta and more unsettling and more profound if, instead of being a raging narcissist, he had been portrayed as they described him in season 4/5- an actual father/creator that was jaded with his creation. He still could’ve been absent and all, just not a total heartless jerk.
• I didn’t even watch half of seasons 7-8 like wow that was not interesting in the slightest.
• Season 2 was also dull as hell, but it gets bonus points for the gritty midwestern horror aesthetic. 10/10 immaculate vibes.
• Anything past season 10 I just picked out the Cas episodes to watch and I didn’t even really love those :/.
• I don’t like how the storylines started getting too big for their britches around season 11 or so. Like purgatory and heaven and hell and the apocalypse, ok sure. But alternate dimensions? Heavenly extinction? God’s literal sister? Babe you’re just a cute lil country show from the CW go back to drunks killing vampires.
• This whole series actually started being trash less than halfway through, and the only reason it stayed on so long was because die-hard fans were invested enough to subject themselves to mental and emotional torture week after week just to stay loyal to their old favourite show.
The podcast thing premiered and while I have zero interest in it Jared and Jensen are in the first two episodes so I sat down and listened to them and now I’m gonna give y’all a speedrun of what was said so you don’t have to- unless you want to then do whatever the fuck you want.
This post contains both episodes the boys are in thus it got really long so I will be putting the contents of the second ep under a read more.
The first episode is about the Pilot- sort of the first half is more about the casting process the boys went through but we’ll get into that; I absolutely hate the music in this, you know how music can influence your emotions? There’s sounds that make you happy, sounds that make you sad, the music in this makes me angry. My brain no likey.
From here on Rob Benedict will appear as RB and Richard Speight Jr. as RS. This is just for convenience sake.
RB and RS do get some things right at the beginning: j2 are the leads of the show, the core of the show is the brother’s relationship, and without the two of them there would be no show.
They do a quick recap of the episode.
RB reveals that he has never seen the Pilot before, he watched it for the first time a couple days prior to recording this. *internally screams* 🙃
Moving on, Jared remembers the casting and the filming for the Pilot pretty clearly. He thinks it's because shooting the Pilot was like a movie. They had months to get used to the script and get to know their characters when they did the Pilot.
Jared compared their audition more to a meeting because he and Jensen already had a relationship with WB, they had both done work for them at the time. He also remembers how since there was no SM they would be swapped for radio press tours meaning if Jensen did a press tour then the next time it would be his turn and vice versa. So they’d have to wake up at like 2:45am in Van to be on the phone call at 3 to do an interview that would air at 6 in the east coast and they’d do like 4 hours worth of radio interviews before going to set to film.
They both remember meeting each other. They didn’t have a traditional chemistry read, the network studio test acted as their chemistry read.
They both knew David Nutter, and Kripke prior to the audition. Jared had met Nutter when he was a guest star on an episode of ER that Nutter directed and Kripke he met independently. Jensen knew Nutter from Smallville because he had directed the Pilot for that show.
Jensen tells how when he read for David and Kripke at Wonderland, he read for Sam originally and then asked if he could read for Dean. They looked at each other, shared a laugh and told him he didn’t have to, the first time Jensen read for Dean was at the ranch when he met Jared.
Jared had a holding deal with WB when he originally read for Sam, which meant he couldn’t audition for any other network. Kripke thought he was great but they were looking for a smart Duchovny type and he didn’t think Jared fit the bill so, Spilo, Jared’s manager, told him how smart Jared actually is and about his academic achievements.
When it comes to the chemistry with Jensen, Jared says he felt it kinda instantly. He remembers his and Jensen’s first convo in detail, and it’s actually kind of cute to hear him describe how it went because he describes how Jensen went slowly softening up as their conversation progressed.
Jensen used to be a little shit, he shares that back in the day when he would be in the audition waiting rooms he would start making small talk with the people that seemed the most nervous- those that were pacing, sitting in their chairs rocking a little bit, reading their lines over and over again. He’s not sure if he did it just to eliminate the tension in the room or if he was just messing with them doing it to knock them off their game but he liked popping that little bubble of focus 😂
And then RB asks if he thinks that’s what he was doing to Jared in that moment when he initiated conversation with him in the audition waiting room, Jensen he says no because they weren't going against each other. And then Jared mentions how even to this day once you’re about to test for a studio network you've signed a 6yr contract so if you go to the waiting room and they say they’ll take you that’s the next 6 years of your life, so you want to get to know the person you may be spending the next 6 years with; he also makes a comparison to marriage and how it’s like if you have 10 minutes before having to get married to this person you wanna ask the important stuff like where they’re from and the family history.
We have reached the around halfway mark into the podcast and you know it’s halfway because of the annoying loud music that slightly overlaps with the talking for no real reason. This is where we would usually hear sponsors but they don’t have any so it’s just this pointless addition.
Asked if they felt they had something at the time when they finished shooting the Pilot. Jared says that Peter Roth who was running WB studios at the time believed in the show and believed in him and Jensen, and Jared hadn’t realized how much he believed in them until after the fact. Because at the time they were hiring big names and really talented people, and spending a ton of money doing long days, their cinematographer had won an Oscar for a short film he had directed so they were surrounded by people that had either been working for years and/or were outrageously talented so he knew they had made a great product but the industry is intense you don’t really know what’s going to happen. He knows he has a job after getting a check in the mail after having filmed it; mentions how he had done a few Pilots prior to spn and how Jensen even did a show where he shot 7 eps only for FOX to shelve it after putting 15million dollars into it.
They start mentioning shows that came out in the 2004-2006 era and RB mentions a show he was in called Threshold, mistake on his part because they start ribbing him about it which was actually pretty funny especially since he actually sounded flustered.
RS says visually the Pilot is more lit like a horror movie, it's darker. Jared says that was the initial idea but that’s unsustainable; they would have 3 hour lighting set ups sometimes. In the time that it took to shoot the Pilot they could have shot 2 episodes.
When they shot the Pilot how much did they think about what their characters situation was in terms of like the scene where Dean says “Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days” and did they think about what their life was cause Dean essentially didn’t have a home? Jensen ties it in to the question of when they knew that they had something that could be a success, and says that he thinks it was the day they shot that particular scene of Dean saying “Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days” which is also when they shot the fight scene between the brothers in Sam’s apartment, and also matching that with when he saw the playback of him kicking the door in when Jess is on fire and Dean goes back for Sam, he remembers seeing the shot and thinking ‘that’s some heroic shit’ and thinking they could get 3 or 4 seasons out of the show. Also, the same day they shot that fight scene they went outside that night to shoot the final scene of the episode.
Jared shares how the end sequence of the Pilot was multi part, so they shot Dean kicking in the door, Sam getting cookies and laying on the bed, seeing Jess’s body on location at USC. Then in a studio they shot the wide angle Nutter wanted of Sam on the bed with the room on fire with live fire; they filmed that part, Sam on the bed with the fire all around him and Dean running in and grabbing him with actual fire, there was even a whole fire department on the sidelines. Safety people told him that as soon as he got warm to run, and Jensen remembers there was a take where Jared was really emotional and he was fighting so hard against him, and Jensen started to feel warm and instead of him going ‘we gotta go!’ he said ‘i’m getting hot we gotta go!’ 😂
Neither of them were around when they shot Jess and Mary on the ceiling so they don’t know how that was filmed. They met Sam Smith and JDM the day the scene where Mary burns up was filmed.
Everyday was a big day, and there were a lot of long days. Jared remembers Jensen telling him about Ray LaMontagne's debut album, and he got the CD (which is freaking adorable that he would go get a CD just because Jensen told him about it) and he thinks he managed to go through the entire album in the time it took him to drive from his house in North Hollywood to the set. And there was one day when they didn’t shoot anything after lunch; it’s when Sam pulls up and the woman in white appears and you see the inside of the house, after lunch they start setting something up, 6 hours later it still isn’t finished so the boys got sent home.
Kripke never gave them info about what was going to happen, the boys were along for the ride just like everyone else only finding things out as they got their scripts. And that model never really changed, there were a few episodes like French Mistake where they got called up and asked how they felt about it, but for the most part they would find things out as they got scripts; and Kripke didn’t share what he was planning with anybody.
To wrap it up, do they remember the moment they saw the Impala and thought it was a cool car? Jensen remembers reading it in the script, it was talking about a classic car and he thought it was going to be something like a Mustang or a Challenger so the Impala was kind of left field in the best way possible.
Jared recalls how in one of the first conversations he had with Kripke he asked him if he had read Joseph Cambell and Jared replied that he had because his mom taught Heroes, Myths and Legends in High School and was an English Major, and his family is big on reading so he was familiar with the archetypes and classic story tropes; and he’s also always been a 60’s Chevy or classic car fan. His first ever car was a '61 Camero which he’s almost done restoring he’s been working on it for the past 10yrs, and also had a ‘65 Mustang which he restored a bit and then sold so he’s always been into late ‘60’s muscle cars so seeing Baby for the first time was like ‘Yeah!’ he’s not sure he had ever seen one before in his life.
Like I said, that wraps up the….interview(?) portion of the podcast. Then they say there are upcoming messages but there are none so that’s pointless.
They are doing a bitch count to count how many times in the series ‘bitch’ or ‘son of a bitch’ were said *long suffering sigh*
They’re also highlighting things that make the show a little dated like the computer monitors. Doing a creepy kid count. They share some random trivia about the ep like how the note from Jessica on the cookies was written by Holly Ollis the long time publicist at the WB. Or how this is one of two eps fimed in the US, the other being the Bloodlines backdoor pilot.
The speak a little bit on the mythology of the ep, and RB does one of the- if not the worst pronunciation of La Llorona I've ever heard. They allegedly did re-search for this but they couldn't find the man a clip to help him learn how to say Llorona properly.
They go through the cast a la IMDB and if you stick around past the end music there’s some excerpts tucked away one being Jared sharing a story about how he used to get mistaken for Barry Watson - an actor on 7th Heaven - and one time his girlfriend at the time, Sandy, was flying to Van to see him and the guy sitting next to her had asked what she was headed to Van for, she told him it was to visit her boyfriend who's filming a show and when she tells him what show it is the guy went "no way, is he the short one or the one from 7th Heaven?".
Moving on to Wendigo.
RS for some reason says they talk about Kim Manners but I listened to this whole thing and unless I zoned out, which is admittedly a very real possibility, they don’t actually talk about him they just mention him. I don’t know if they did talk about him and then it just got cut out and they forgot to edit the script. I do know I didn’t like the way RS talked about Manners though the way he says “he [Kim Manners] didn’t survive the run of the show, he passed away somewhere in there” it just sounded kind of flippant to me….I don’t know I didn’t like it.
Anyways same as the last, they do a mini recap of the ep before starting the interview portion.
Jared mentions how they call Wendigo episode number one. This is because Pilots are not numbered.
Four months passed between this episode being filmed and the Pilot.
When they got picked up, they had to travel to New York for the upfront presentations and afterwards they went to Nobu with some of the execs from the studio network. And that’s when Jared found out they wouldn’t be filming in LA that they’d be filming in Vancouver.
Jared and Jensen mention how they spend their summer between the filming of the Pilot and the filming of Wendigo together hanging out and doing their assigned fight training. Jensen shares the story about how one time their trainer put them in the ring to spar, Jared hit him hard on the nose and when he went to do it again Jensen got him with a right hook that made Jared’s ear ring which is when their trainer told them that was enough, got them out of the ring and never made them spar like that again.
This episode marks the beginning of the “Dean voice” and Jensen talks about how that came to be; that came about after meeting Jeffrey and seeing parts of the Pilot and seeing what he was doing as dad. Jensen figured if this is a first born son who idolizes his father, he wants to be like his father and is going to imitate him. And John has such a rich voice, maybe that’s something Dean inherited from his father and also leans into it a little bit to be like dad. It didn’t happen in the Pilot because he hadn't met Jeffrey and seen what he was going to do to the character yet, it wasn’t till he got to Van and started work on Wendigo that he realized that’s something he could add to the character.
They tell the Stanley Park story about how Kripke sat them down and told them the show boils down to them and their relationship.
RS didn’t know this is where the iconic line of “Saving people, hunting things. The family business” had come from *screams into the distance*
Jared is a big fan of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, and Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid so he freaked out a bit when he met Donnelly Rhodes told him what a big fan he was and asked him questions about his scene in the movie.
Then we reach the halfway point but instead of just music they pass the clip about how messages are coming. But they don't have sponsors.
David Nutter was the Pilot King, if he directed the Pilot of a show odds were it would get picked up. Supernatural was the 11th Pilot he did and 11th to go to series.
They mention Dawn who sort of inherited them when the WB- UPN merger happened and how she didn’t like them.
Jensen says he remembers Nutter never sitting down, he was always close to set, had an endless supply of energy even though you never saw him eat or drink anything, gentle with the actors.
Jared says he imagines that what Nutter realized is when shooting a Pilot cast it correctly, cast it with people whose instincts go towards what their characters will be and don’t overdirect them; Jared doesn’t feel he truly knew Sam until at least towards the end of the first season, he was still learning as an actor and he didn’t want the Pilot to be the best Sam Winchester is he’s gonna have to evolve, and Nutter seemed to get that he wasn’t a micromanager he set the scene and stage for them to do the best they could.
On the experience of forging the SPN crew family. For Jared from episode 1 to the Benders which was episode 15 he was focused on Jensen and Sam was focused on Dean. It wasn’t until he felt he had hit his stride with Sam that he realized he could spend time getting to know the crew cause several of his first eps were spend trying to learn things about Sam. So by the time he got to know them the crew had spend months seeing him and Jensen working together in concert in a friendly but creative, efficient way so there was a mutual trust there, they knew him and Jensen were good dudes who cared about what they were doing.
Jensen feels they got to know their crew quickly because it was just him and Jared so the crew was the extension of who they were surrounding themselves with and they quickly became bonded; they also had a lot of crew members they were contemporary in age with which helped.
They filmed the Pilot, then Wendigo then they did Hook Man which got moved because it needed more work, followed by Dead in the Water, and Phantom Traveler which is when they met Bob Singer who until then had been in LA essentially baby-sitting Kripke who was only around 30-33 when the show got picked up. That’s young for a showrunner so Singer was kind of hired to be the veteran and keep Eric within the lines.
At the end of the interview the boys talk a little bit about their projects.
Jared says Walker s2 will have 20 episodes. And also mentions that the prequel that was announced Walker: Independence has actually been in the works since January before Walker even premiered.
Jensen says the network has script in hand for the Winchesters and he should have news by January. This was recorded in 2021 by the way so that January means now not in 2023.
There's another clip announcing a message break that doesn’t go to messages. An excerpt from I think a future episode with Bob Singer where he tells the story about how originally Kripke had written the episode subsequent to the Pilot as a ghost story but the head of the WB didn’t want them to do another ghost story right after the Pilot so Kripke came up with the Wendigo and it was expensive and took like 10 days to film, and the network was not happy at the cost.
And by this time any shred of attention I was paying to this thing was gone so....
It wasn't as bad as it could have been however it's badly edited, I wouldn't consider it a re-watch podcast because first of all it seems Rob and Richard have only seen some episodes of the first season so they're not re-watching it they're watching it for the first time, they do so individually they don't share their experience watching it, and they don't go through the ep with the guests it's just general talk about the episode. The company producing this is apparently interested in listening to feedback and going to be making changes and so called improvements. So I don't know if these are things that will change.
Sincerely, I don't care. I have no plans to listen to more of this podcast, and quite frankly if the boys appear again I'm not sure I would listen to it. There were some interesting parts and I love listening to the boys talk but...let me put it this way there was a point where I paused this to go do something and then forgot it existed for like 20mins, if it hadn't been because I had my notes for this post open I would have forgotten that I hadn't finished listening. And that happened on the first episode.
This podcast is currently only available in audio form, I don't know if there are plans to ever release it in video format. If you wish to listen to the eps yourself you can find both episodes on Apple podcasts as Supernatural Then and Now.
Debated about sending this, but I think I can shed some ancient fandom history light on why Misha gets a lot of hate. At least how it started if not why it's persisted.
So, anon credentials, take 'em as you will. I watched the pilot the night it aired, I created one of the first fic focused Supernatural communities on LiveJournal, hell I participated in the SN vs SPN debate.
The thing to remember is that SPN became popular fairly quickly. It hit at the right time and had the right elements to fill a gap in fandom at the time and it attracted a lot of brand new fans. (Supernatural was a lot of people's first fandom and they were feral.) So take one part migrating slash fandom looking for a home, one part baby's first fandom, and combine it with a show that only had 2 leads and they were related.
The results were somewhat predictable. Incest shipping and fans had been around for ages, but always pushed to the side and generally not allowed in regular fandom spaces. But suddenly Supernatural was on the scene and Wincest was the bees knees. For 3 years Wincest and J2 were king and everyone just sorta accepted that as a part of the fandom. Didn't have to like it, but what the hell else were we supposed to do?
(The mysoginistic shitstorm those asshole created when the Ruby and Bella casting sides were leaked pre-season 3? I've not seen it's like. What happened to Bella was because of these asshats deciding she had to go before she'd even been introduced.)
But, again, for 3 years we had the reigning champions. It was either genfic (waves), fic focused on the brother's relationship, obscure pairings very few people paid attention to, or wincest. Then something glorious happened. Lazarus Rising. Misha Collins walked onto the scene, had amazing chemistry with Jensen, and changed the fandom game completely.
They tried the same tactics they'd used against Bella and Jo, but migratory slash fandom came on strong. Because there were a lot of people who watched the show, but didn't participate in fandom because incest. Only now there was Castiel! And even better he actually had chemistry and a great actor. There was something to latch onto!
They lost their crown that night. Words can not express just how much and quickly the fandom shifted in season 4, even more so on season 5 when it was clear Cas was sticking around. They had to hate Misha, he took all of their imaginary power and prestige away. They could no longer dictate fandom policy. You might go into a fic challenge or exchange and be asked to writing something beside Sam and Dean. They had to share the stage.
Few things will cause a person to hate like losing power. Even imaginary fandom power.
Anon thank you very much for your history lesson. It's truly fascinating!
I'm loving SPN (currently watching season 10) but I really hate how dirty the did on female characters. I loved Ruby (not so much the one played by Gen...), Bella, Jo and Ellen Harvelle, Pamela, Meg... and they all are killed? And usually in he most nonsensical and unnecessary deaths (sort of they way the killed Dean in the finale). oh shit I even spoiled myself and found out Charlie Bradbury also dies 😭
I don't understand that level of misogyny and sexism coming from a mostly female-based fandom. I'm a destiel shipper and yet I loved the chemistry between Bella and Dean and I wanted them to fuck, just as I enjoyed the sexual chemistry between Cas and Meg, and I wanted them to stay alive and further develop their arcs.
It should have been amazing the first time you watched Lazarus Rising. The first time that episode aired and nobody had fucking idea of what's going on and then suddenly Castiel makes his entrance and just. everybody lose their shit. I watched that episode when I already knew about destiel and already saw gifs and pics and yet it was such a glorious and epic experience. It was amazing, it deserves to be in the history books of TV shows.
And the most popular ship ever was born, and the actors had wild chemistry on and off cameras, and their lives were changed forever. I'm sure the moment Jensen and Misha met each other for first time was a pivotal event in their own lives. Isn't amazing that the most popular ship ever was born and fueled by the intense love these actors have for each other? (Whether it's romantic or just platonic... but, personally, I believe it's romantic)
Saw your tags on a post and I've gotta know what your top books are because I want to read and I can't get into anything atm x...x
that's a hard thing to answer because.. it has been so long since i read things properly but i can say ive got two things that immediately spring to mind
1. the ruins by scott smith - survival horror, drawn out suffering, etc. I honestly read this in like, a week-ish, maybe a little less and at first i didnt think it impacted me a whole lot. i closed the book saying 'huh, that was neat' and then the book didnt leave my mind for two years straight. i am not joking. i am not exaggerating. every single fucking day for two years i would think 'wow the ruins fucking slapped holy shit'
so yes, if you like that kind of stuff then i totally recommend.
fun fact: this book rooted (hah) itself in my brain and i used it as a springboard to develop adri's personality. if you read it youll understand.
and 2. GONE (the whole saga) by michael grant. its uh. well. its kids with superpowers. except instead of playing hero they act like actual kids and there is a LOT of violence. and i mean a LOT. there are so many disasters and casualties the whole saga its insane and if you read it youll probably think 'wow yeah this totally changed windy's brain chemistry jesus christ'
DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO VIOLENCE. its not incredibly graphic but its very very harsh, even by YA standards
my favorite one was the fourth one, PLAGUE.
fun fact: there are SO many editions have diff covers and some even have fucking pictures of real people as the faces of the kids and i am so SICK of them they should go back to the covers i have which are JET BLACK save for the outline of the title, and the name of the author printed in transparent shiny film so u can only see it if you lean the book towards light
Tumblr media
theyre honestly so cool. why did they change them
seriously, what the fuck is this. these do NOT do the books justice this looks like a romance drama not books where teenagers are beating each other to death
Tumblr media
(sidenote AGAIN i have only read these six. apparently after light michael grant has been writing several other books in this same universe (w the same characters???) but the situation they were in is not there anymore so????????) but yeah i havent read them. idk if theyre good or not. frankly idk if i want to read them at all
and last but certainly not least
3. phantoms, by dean kooontz. its uh, its wack. first time i read this i plowed through it in 3 days cause i was so hooked
its ALSO a fucked up book, and it ALSO changed my brain chemistry a less than normal amount.
spoiler: its not about phantoms (its worse)
I've gotta say, I find the concept of Bedlund trying to Ben-Hur Jensen absolutely hysterical. I'm just imagining Jensen getting a script and being like "Ben?? What's this? Is this gay? This seems gay????" and Ben just soothing him like a frightened horse.
Hahaha - Look it wouldn't be the first time. What is this verb we're working with? Okay. Strap in everyone. The Multi-Oscar-winning 1959 movie 'Ben Hur' had a bunch of gay subtext. The writer, the director, and the second lead actor all knew that Charlton Heston's character, Ben Hur, was gay. However, one person didn't find out until the 1990s: Charlton Heston. The consensus on set was "Don’t tell Charlton, because he’ll freak out." and when Heston found out in the ninties, freak out was exactly what he did. (x) [the movie may have gotten a reference from Misha back in season 6 (x)]
Whether this happened with Jensen on SPN depends on two things.
Was the character of Dean intentionally written as Bi and, if so, at what point did that become true?
Did anyone tell Jensen? Did he figure it out? if so, when?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I personally DO believe at this point, I really do, that Bedlund - Ben Hur'd Jensen. I think it was part of the writers room but not all of it, until it was. (Which RN I believe finally happened under Dabb.) I think Jensen wasn't in on it, until he was. So for me? I think he really was in the dark at one point. But at what point that changed? Probably only he can answer that question. and RN? He ain't talking.
In the meantime we can only look at things Jensen has said on the subject - Like this unbearably ambiguous GIF set from @nikadd. Was this tongue in cheek? Legitimate ignorance? You're killing me, Jensen. That cheeky lil smile, Jensen. Nvm - I'm going to kill you instead. It's for my own survival. No hard feelings right? You understand.
UH OH HERE COMES A CUT TO HIDE A LONG DERANGED POST...
We can look at the text for number 1 - and I do that uh - a lot - see the blog name #Dean Was Always Bi
For number 2 we can look over some points when we got clues from what Jensen thought was going on [regardless of whether they make sense based on his jacting or directorial choices I guess] and get left wondering whether at any point he felt pressured to lie for his career, for self protection, or to protect the narrative from the network:
2010 - 'We're missing the gay angel' (x) (Season 5 gag reel) (x) “Sorry man, not what the show’s about.” Jared: One of the good and bads about playing the straight [non-comedic] character on the show… Jensen: What wait? I’ve been playing him so wrong
2012 / S8 - Trenchcoat - Jensen talking about how sometimes they change the lines because they're way too gay. Calls Cas a third brother
2012 - "What's Destiel?" Ben Edlund: That’s some weird shit. Jensen: Is this something that you created, Ben? Ben: You don’t want any part of that.
“Don’t ruin it for everyone now” “I still don’t know what the question was. I’m going to pretend I don’t know what the question was.”
2013 @ JIB, re Dean’s reaction to Aaron’s flirting in the season 8 episode Everybody Hates Hitler,  (x)
“And the scene wasn’t written to be that kind of - I mean - It was written to be awkward.  Ben Edlund wrote the - my favorite line in that scene was ‘carry on . citizen’ that was - I almost couldn’t say that with a straight face I was laughing so hard.  But it was - you know - it was comedy. It was a comedic moment in the show and fortunately Dean gets a lot of the comedic moments in the show and it was just, you know, Ben was poking fun at the fact that - you know, how can we make this very kind of manly, heterosexual guy uncomfortable - uh -you know, or  or have him back on his heels and throw him off his game a little bit.”
The thing is - Bedlund and Phil Sgriccia made very clear on the commentary track that THEY saw this scene as a 'romantic comedy kind of fluster' "This potential for love in all places."
Ben Edlund calling the writer’s room a boy’s club in 2013 (x)
Misha Collins telling Destiel fans they aren’t Crazy in 2013 after some executives said they were (x).
2014 Jensen says he was glad there wasn’t much Dean and Cas in season 9  - HA Hah HAH (x)
“I think the whole Cas and Dean thing has gotten out of hand”  “I don’t think there’s anything secret to their relationship even though a lot of people wish there was” REMINDER - that season we got the nightstands acknowledgement and “play him like a jilted lover” and the “he dumped me James” cut and -
I certainly know that Misha and I don’t play that. SIGH. they Ben Hur'd Jensen.
2014 - the fan fiction joke - 10.05
“I didn’t have a positive reaction, The first time in I think 200 scripts I went and sat down in the showrunners office and said, ‘What in god’s name are you doing?! Why? I need to understand why this is happening.’” “[Carver] gave very eloquent answers and did a great job of explaining why we were doing what we were doing, I guess I had been aware of this ‘fan fiction’ for a while and I felt like maybe if I ignored it, it would eventually go away. When I read it in the script that is what I do for a living and is my work—I’m very protective of these characters and the story and I think we have a right to be—I wasn’t angry. I just wanted to understand why and what was the message we were ultimately sending with this script and story. By the end of it, I felt good and it gave me all the confidence I needed. It was better than I could have ever hoped.”
But then there's Jensen in 2015 talking about all of Dean’s bromances. (x)  [gifs at the top] Could go either way - starting to figure it out? or No?
What had changed if anything? the entire Crowely season 10 story line?  This was July 2015 - the same day as the SDCC 2015 panel where Misha talked about Destiel   (x @ 13) Carver and Dabb were there -
By this time Jensen and Misha were nominated for a teen choice award for best chemistry against various tv couples (and one ensemble cast, but the award nomination did NOT include Jared) .... Misha and Jensen would go on to WIN this award one month after the panel.
At the Panel Rob and Rich ask the question: “You two have branded yourselves as TV’s greatest team since, ... idk who.... Ernie and Bert so.”  [Misha says to Jensen & Jared, half not on the microphone: “I really didn’t expect them to throw us under the bus.”] “are we going to see that continue? Is the Castiel Dean relationship still aflutter and still growing as we move into season 11?”  Jeremy Carver: “Ish.” [mocking from panel ensues] “Yes. Of course. I mean Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. There’s no doubt.”
Jensen Directs 11x03 and the choreo mimics Goodbye stranger (x)
2016 - Jensen: Dean could have a huntress, but you’d kill her.
Jan 2017 Con the infamous - no hedge - harsh - “Destiel doesn’t exist.” (x)
I would hope that if he knew he wouldn’t have been so harsh with it.  So by that point either he still didn’t know - OR - to him ‘Destiel’ was specifically about internet porn/sex and not like - the potential for feelings / a relationship.  It makes me think about something Misha had actually said, around 2013, “It’s called ‘Destiel’ and it’s about the romantic interludes between Dean and Castiel.” (x)
2017 - jib8 Jensen called Dean a lover of the ladies
May 2017 - After filming the end of season 12:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2018 - Misha confirms he and Jensen have talked about Destiel (x) - also 2018: The Bisexual Dean essay "? No." (Oh god was this really this recent?! I can't deal with this.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well. SOMETHING happened in 2019. cuz here it comes
Tumblr media
2019 - "Dean has no taste, clearly." 2019 - 'So, tell us just a little bit about what you're most excited to tackle with your character this final season.' "Cas. Just like a full football form tackle."
Look at this face he gave Dean when Cas told him he loved him and tell me he wasn't playing into it here. You can't. (x)
