He cackled to himself, so deliciously happy to be able to test it on Robin. -- The most "Titans Tower AU" ever of all time. A must-read for anyone who hates or loves fanon.

There were people that cleaned and made him food. The whole house smelled like Talia, like rose and jasmine flowers. This is a soothing little vignette, like a calm before a storm. Talia shines in her competence and in her tenderness, while also struggling to make the right choices for Jason's post-resurrection recovery.

whether a beast or a human being by Goldmonger https://archiveofourown.org/series/3417622 - The Red Hood has been recaptured by the Batman and consigned to a private prison, one buried deep beneath Gotham City. The Dark Knight has encountered insane and deadly criminals before, and knows the havoc that can be wreaked from allowing them any kind of freedom. The Red Hood will spend the rest of his life under observation, and will be cared for according to the directives of the Batman. It is unlikely that he will rejoin society, but that is a sacrifice that must be made to protect the citizens of Gotham. Or: "The Wide Sargasso Sea: Jason Todd Edition." Now serendipitously even more relevant after Gotham War! This story contains extreme and unmitigated pain, and severe medical abuse. In the words of the writer: a story "of how even the closest relationship with the most love in the world can fall apart under the right conditions." This is an ongoing/incomplete story, but each installment feels like a satisfying pausing point.

In the words of one commenter, this is a sweet story that really appreciates Dick's "constant worrying & planning & trauma and huge sense of responsibility that he’s always got going there" with respect to the ups and downs of his history with Jason.

But there was something odd about that family, and no it wasn't just because Cassandra's mother outvoted him at the last PTA meeting, Jason. (That may have played a small part. Sue him, he's human.) PTA AU starring Cass and Shiva, with Jason as a supporting character. A feel-good story with comedy, friendship, family, and tiny pre-teen urban justice crusader Cass as our intrepid hero!

Jason just wants to make bets over who on their team will bite it first. In which Suicide Squad: Get Joker! is scrapped for parts and melted down. Harley's retrospective on having knowingly loved someone who tortured Barbara Gordon and killed Robin. [POV Harley Quinn.]

"Down to Dust" by Sparkypants https://archiveofourown.org/works/47407291 - It's not the warehouse that Jason has nightmares about. It's Bruce. Bruce deciding to cremate him instead of bury him. Because if he had, what would Jason be now? An infinite number of pieces, cast into the wind. Smoke hanging in the air and never whole or home again, part of him always missing. A spiral of psychological horror, then some hurt/comfort.

this one is exclusively for fics that have never made it off the badbadbathouse/livejournal (to my knowledge/memory). I have my big ass list of every single souyo fill, but this one is curated with summaries, so hopefully it'll be useful to new p4 fans or anyone who doesn't know where to start with p4 on lj!

(these are all from bbbh, so the main post text for all these will be somewhat suggestive, but I will separate sfw fics from nsfw)

SFW fics!

Sunday, 7:43: I've mentioned before but my absolute fav P4 fic <3 even the prompt is the sweetest: a ficcy about the precise moment Yousuke realizes he's in love

Domesticity: Yosuke gets a gray hair :^)

Name That Tune: after Yosuke gives him a mixtape, Souji surprises him with the song he likes the most-- it goes exactly where you think but the buildup is still so good :') this one I feel like I did see on AO3 but I can't find it again if it is

The Frog in the Well (or, Yosuke and the wind.): character study of Yosuke's connection to his element (okay not so souyo but it's got such fantastic use of language...)

Sick Day: good old fashioned sick fic :') actually more of a ensemble fic rather than purely souyo, and the peeks of characterization therein are choice [warnings for vomit]

Cook the Food, Not the Kitchen: teaching the IT to cook- another ensemble fic! but souji def has plans for Yosuke in this one ;) unfinished but very amusing nonetheless

Façade: in order to go out on a public date, Souji elects to disguise as a girl. i like fics where they work thru their issues... but it's still quite fluffy! this one miiiight be on AO3 or ffn

One Way to Start the Morning: Yukiko and Yosuke talk about being in love with their best friends... as much as Yosuke can admit it anyway. realistically awkward but genuine Yosuke and Yukiko friendship, hooray! [warnings for one use of slur]

Whisperwind: Yosuke gains telepathic powers and it's too much (a sorta Carrie au). very surreal but well done horror fic (there is souyo but as you can imagine, it doesn't end well) [no smut but it is very gory so think maybe R? instead of NC-17; major character death]

Contact: souyo's relationship through touch. wonderful sense of tension and space throughout this fic, and i love viewing their progression thru one specific lens

Breaking Up is Hard To Do: Yosuke confesses... the night before Souji leaves. once again the genre is souyo/working on their issues. excellent, naturalistic dialog and not too angsty...

[untitled]: souyo told purely from other character's perspectives. unfortunately unfinished; we really need more outside pov fics !

A Special Report: "I like my women like my coffee" ngl rec-ing purely for Souji's answer ;D (nothing explicit but as u can expect from the prompt, suggestive jokes abound) also sports club trio ftw!!

Play Time: Souji likes Yosuke's dick- even outside of sex! i am SUCH a big fan of casual, almost boring intimacy. adult in the best way, funny and so so domestic

The Last Breath We Take: sometime after Yosuke dies, Souji is sure he's being haunted. more bittersweet than outright sad :') (also the nsfw is very indirect and light) [warnings for major character death]

A Night Like This: Yosuke's dad finds out Yosuke's dating Souji and does not take it well. Yosuke isn't a complete pushover (but he is still a sad boy) so that's refreshing! [warnings for abuse]

Bruise My Head: Souji gets a bit fat and meets up with Yosuke years after. flashbacks (one is the short nsfw in this fic) are interspersed in this future fic, and it's an interesting examination how they might change and what stays the same (and how there's always something to work on) [warnings for eating disorders + brief self harm mention]

Technique: Yosuke totally knows what a blowjob is. totally. (smut that doesn't go perfectly >>>>>)

Its a Hard Life: Yosuke falls on hard times, becoming a prostitute and gets a regular who looks very familiar (it's Souji's dad). listen, I'm not gonna pretend that this one isn't carried by pure DRAMA and whump [warnings for dubcon + noncon]

Unfortunate Timing: souyo are having phone sex when Nanako has the WORST timing. Souji's dilemma is supremely entertaining, and we love bratty!Yosuke [warnings for Nanako? she's not a part of/aware of the sex per se but she's in the vicinity if that squicks you out]

Experience: Kanji learns a thing or two from established souyo. the Kanji pov is an interesting angle to view souyo and how well they work together [warnings for dp]

I HAVE NO DUNGEON, AND I MUST TROLL!: Yosuke has a personal blog- very personal- that starts getting hate from one anonymous Souji. this fic is unique for presenting the lj/comments true to life and there's a lovely floaty style to the offline sections; this fic is also an interesting look into Jerkji, who we don't see often in fan characterization anymore [warnings for manipulative!Souji; eating disorders (adjacent); dubcon; suicidal actions]

and finally Sympathy Crime even though pretty much everyone already knows about it AKA the fic where Adachi manipulates Yosuke into a relationship and it takes a tole on the investigation. heed the warnings of abuse, rape, torture, and suicidal thoughts/attempts seriously as the fic goes in depth to depict these, the horrifying effects, and then recovery. It does not pull any punches. The fic really understands how anyone can be susceptible to abuse and how important a support system/lack thereof is. It is incredibly well written- and that is in part because it has a message about horrendous acts of abuse. Additionally, it's a 200k+ (i think) word read so it is A Lot. Sympathy Crime is 100% not for everyone, but if you think you can tolerate reading the subject matter, there is a reason why this is a monolithic fic in P4 fandom history

It had to have meaning, yet Harry filled with nerves as each bar of music rolled on. After months of denying and pushing down his feelings while trying not to read into anything Draco did, it was a terrifying bridge to cross.

The curve of Draco’s neck caught his eye. His jugular was visibly pulsing with the same rapid, nervous beat drumming in Harry’s. It settled his swimming stomach to see evidence that he felt the lyrics as sharply as Harry.

Harry gathered his courage and pulled them closer, leaning forward and dropping his eyes to Draco’s lips. He stopped well before they would touch, looking to Draco’s shadowed eyes with a question.

A trail of magic followed Draco’s hand as it slid up Harry’s arm, landing behind his shoulder. Draco pulled Harry closer as he leaned the rest of the way in. The warm light from the fireplace below threw his face into soft shadows, and the air was charged with anticipation.

Draco’s warm breath ghosted over his lips, and his nose softly bumped Harry’s. Within a second that stretched on like an eternity, they breathed in that same electric excitement buzzing in the air between them. Then Draco’s warm lips pressed to Harry’s.

His body flashed hot and cold. His heart felt like it was gearing up to jump out of his chest, and perhaps his fluttering stomach would fly off with it. He shut his eyes tight against the physical and emotional whirlwind happening inside him.

The kiss was like none other. Harry didn’t know how to classify it. He thought he’d felt the heights of pleasure with Draco, but he was wrong. They’d done nearly everything else they wanted with each other, checking off kinks and curiosities like marking off points of interest on a map during a road trip.

A single press of Draco’s soft lips to his, a curl of his hair tickling Harry’s temple, and their feet tangled together had his heart swelling and breaking through all his carefully erected barriers. Affection burst out like a caged animal feeling the sun on its skin for the first time.

A quiet whine rose up his throat, unintentional and unstoppable as his body shivered with surges of magic and his head swam with hope.

“Harry,” Draco breathed against his lips, soft and trembling with need. In it Harry heard everything he’d been unwilling to hear.

Harry pulled him closer and pressed another kiss to his lips, then another and another. Draco rolled half on top of him, his hands moving like he couldn’t decide which part of Harry he wanted to hold onto—clinging to his shoulders, squeezing his waist, gripping his hair, then finally holding his face in both hands so he could keep him in place as he laid kiss upon kiss on him.

Harry slipped his arms around him and hugged around his waist, squeezing their bodies together. Fingers dug into hot flesh and magic flared under his skin, hot and cold and right.

Draco pushed his tongue into Harry’s mouth, and he couldn’t have held back his moan if he wanted to. Draco moaned back as their tongues twisted together and lips opened and closed against each other, sucking and biting and tasting each other in the one way they’d never permitted themselves before.

Harry rolled fully onto his back, pulling Draco the rest of the way on top of him, filling his senses entirely with Draco. He was everywhere—the weight on his body, the magic under his skin, the sweet scent in his nose, and the taste on his lips. Harry felt drunk on him.

They kissed, and they kissed, then they kissed some more.

i unfortunately don't know the fic you're looking for, BUT i love sleuthing stuff like this out, so i was wondering if you remember anything else about the website the fic was on. like, do you remember if there were other fics on it? I know you said it might have been a small hosting sight or a blog, but if you remember any recognizable features i'd love to look for you!

The more I think about it, the more I think it was a small hosting site rather than a personal blog. I remember it having other fics and an index for the series page. Layout was fairly simple, no graphics I can remember (maybe a site logo? Nothing that stands out in my memory), dark background at the time. I remember thinking how many more likes they could have gotten if they were posted on a site with more traffic, because the site felt small to me.

The Lady Is A Vamp by objectlesson

The genderqueer fic that absolutely wrecked me a few weeks ago when I ran across it for the first time. It’s got confused teenagers who don’t know how to sort out their feelings for each other, fashion descriptions that make me want to sell my soul to the writing gods, and a brilliant Jay POV that captures so much of what I like about teenage love stories. It’s a great fic that’s just long enough to get really invested in, and the eventual payoff of the get-together is great.

Redemancy by PorcelainAlice

Polyamory, Mal/Evie/Jay/Carlos/Ben and Jay/Doug, 11k, unfinished. (but I promise you it’s worth the read anyway)

This fic has been living in my head rent-free since I first started reading, and even though it’s not a pairing I would usually go for, it’s one of the most interesting Auradon worldbuilding fics that I’ve read for this fandom. I love the deep dive into Doug as a character, and the ways that this fic delves into dwarf culture and how being part of that magical world makes Doug an outsider at Auradon Prep is absolutely brilliant. There’s a few really lovely scenes with giving food as a way of giving affection, but the fic also goes into food as a means of expressing culture, and it’s so well done that I would love this fic even if it were only those scenes. (But seriously, the whole fic is lovely and the worldbuilding is top tier, please read this and scream about it with me)

Long Live, Havin’ Some Fun by WorkingChemistry

Mal & Evie & Jay & Carlos, 8k, unfinished.

I’m always a slut for omegaverse, and this fic is one of my absolute favorites. It has all of the casual violence and terrified affection that I love from this fandom, and it hits basically all of my personal omageverse trope buttons with the scent marking, pack dynamics, and non-sexual relationships. The relationship between the core 4 is left somewhat ambiguous, but I think it reads super well as queerplatonic. Reading this fic inspired me to write uhhh like 200k of my own omegaverse fic, which in turn is why I started this blog, so this is TRULY the most influential of my personal Descendants fic rec roundup.

Mostly-canon, this fic hits a lot of the awkward teenage crush feelings that I adore in descendants fics. I came for the Ben/Carlos, but stayed because it’s such a well-written look at the Auradon Prep dating landscape. Also, hot. Fair warning that this one is quite NSFW, so if that’s not your jam maybe give this one a pass.

Malvie, 5k.

Halloween fic! There’s knives and petty rivalry that’s maybe not so petty after all, because sometimes your teenage rivalry with the princess whose mother got your mother exiled forever IS the most important thing in your lives, and there’s some really lovely details about Mal’s art that make the world feel so much more whole, and Evie is a badass as she always should be, and it’s a joy and a delight to reread this fic every year.

Gen, 34k, unfinished.

The VKs take a different route to escape their parents. The barrier breaks anyway. Mal has more magic than she can handle, Jay has magic too, and there’s a lot of really nice moments where we get a glimpse into the inner workings of the Auradon adults and how they manage the politics of the situation while trying to help. It’s a really great worldbuilding fic that delves into the logistics of running a mashed-up fairy tale kingdom that’s actually more like twelve smaller kingdoms in a trenchcoat, and there’s also some AMAZING good-guy coach moments that made me adore him even more. I’m a sucker for fics that show the adults trying to help, and this is one of the best.

I’ve already talked about how much I adore fic where the Auradon adults are really genuinely doing their best, and this is one of the PEAK good-guy Coach fics for me. It’s got some really evocative moments that make my heart ache for Jay, and it’s just a lovely fic overall.

Adorable werewolf!Carlos fic. The first fic set in this verse is one of my all-time faves, and this sequel is equally delightful.

Short Skirt (Long Jacket) by Butyoucancallmemeg

multi, 13k.

This fic is one of the best Evie characterizations I’ve ever read, full stop. Grifter!Evie is canon in my heart now, and the relationship with her mother is exquisite. I also love the emphasis on Jay and Evie as friends in this fic. They both know how to perform, how to flirt and make a good show of things and charm their audience, and it’s such a great read. The whole series is fabulous.

Like Riding A Bike by Glitter_Lisp

Harry/Uma, 2k

Kidfic! I’m not always one for kids in fic, but this series consistently blows me away with how good the parent-child relationship between Harry and CJ is. The perfect level of precocious child and well-meaning protective parent. The series is focused more on the parent-child relationship than the Harry/Uma relationship, but it works so well. I love a hot pirate (or tattoo artist) parent who is so incredibly dedicated to keeping his kid as happy and healthy as possible even when other things are falling apart. Also, I would die for cool uncle Gil.

Mojo's comments: I just love it when Lan Wangji takes a look around his sect -- after they've beaten him nearly to death and are disrespecting wwx's memory AND little a-yuan -- and decides, "I'm done with this shit." So off he wanders, with his new son, to hook up with song lan and xiao xingchen and found a new sect. So it is this new lwj, with no forehead ribbon, who clocks wwx at dafan mtn after he's called back as mxy. Lan xichen, having made a few egregiously poor choices 13 years prior, is lurking around, trying to make amends; jiang cheng is an angry grape; and young lan jingyi is just happy to get to see his old friend once more.

Fanbinding: The Game Is Afoot

Another mini book! This one is a compilation of all the fic in @sapphosewrites' very amusing series The Game Is Afoot, which I had a lot of fun rereading for this project. (I may also have amused myself quite a bit with the cover design.)

For the front cover, I started with some clipart of a dude crossing his fingers behind his back (apparently a stock image for "lying corrupt politician"), changed the skin tone of the hand, and created a background based on Garak's red outfit (I have no drawing skills to speak of but I can manipulate shapes and images in Pixlr). On the back cover, the roulette wheel is from Wikimedia, and the bottle is just an MS Office icon.

The cover is a printable cotton backed with paper using an iron-on adhesive. As usual, most of the text is in 12 point Sabon, and the title fonts are DS9 Title and DS9 Credits from Star Trek Minutiae's font collection.

It’s a horrible day when Harry needs to visit Gringotts: the goblins there detest him, and it’s a frustrating bureaucratic battle to get anything done.

But that all changes when Malfoy starts working at Gringotts.

What was Malfoy doing before? What is Malfoy doing now? Harry has an endless list of questions, and there’s only one way to get them all answered (visiting Gringotts extremely frequently), and Malfoy won’t suspect a thing.

“Oh dear,” Harry says to himself. “I think I really love seeing your face.”

“...Pardon? If you love seeing my face, I’ll send you a head-shot portrait,” Malfoy snarks.

Harry looks back up, standing straighter. “Oh, come on, Malfoy. It’s not like the rest of your body is ugly—”

Malfoy’s eyes narrow.

“—Fuck, that’s not what I meant.”

Harry stiffens when Malfoy takes a step closer, a smirk growing on his face.

“...I’ve seen the inside of your house,” Malfoy drawls. “Are you going to now show me how good you are?”

“Not in the bloody corridor, I’m not,” Harry says. “And your flirting is horrible.”

Malfoy raises an eyebrow. “I’m just repeating your words from earlier, dear Harry.”

Despite Harry’s best intentions, when Malfoy reaches out for him, Harry grabs back, and they’re suddenly pressed together, and Malfoy’s mouth is on Harry’s and fuck Malfoy’s mouth is just as good at kissing as it is at being a prat.

Malfoy’s hand does something in Harry’s hair, and his tongue does something in Harry’s mouth and Harry melts into Malfoy.

“Bedroom, Potter,” Malfoy whispers into Harry’s ear. The lips against the shell of Harry’s ear, the vibrations of the sound make Harry shiver. “Unless you want to do it in the corridor.”
