Dear Everyone,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and I thought, since this silly little blog hit over 1.1k followers yesterday, I want to give you something special.

First of all, though, I want to thank you. I’ve been on here since (and I checked with the archive) July 19, 2022. I can't believe that it has been almost two years. I started watching Daredevil after watching Spider-Man: No Way Home in December of 2021 and hearing Matt Murdock say, "I'm a really good lawyer," after catching a brick. So, I started watching the show, and that was during a time I was really miserable. Mentally and physically, I wasn't in a good place, but after watching Daredevil for the first time and falling in love with Charlie Cox as a genuine person and an actor, it felt like I found a reason to keep going.

I started writing fanfiction again, which I kind of neglected because I felt like this hobby of mine wasn't going anywhere. I wasn't inspired at all until I watched the show. If I hadn't, I probably would not have gotten back into writing and using it as an outlet for my feelings, and I probably wouldn't be where I am today. Thanks to Charlie's portrayal of Matt Murdock, and watching his interviews, I felt like I could do the things that I love again and follow my dreams. He's the reason I chose to major in English. And while I owe him that much, I owe you guys here on Tumblr and AO3 even more.

When I first posted here, I didn't think people would even be interested in what I had to say and write. But then more and more people started visiting my profile, you guys started following me, and it kept me motivated to keep writing, even when I'm miserable, and I sometimes only post once every blue moon.

I feel so honored that you guys chose to follow a silly little blog run by a silly little 20-something-year-old whose first language isn't even English (but made it her entire personality), and who chose to write about traumatized dark-haired characters portrayed by Charlie Cox. I'm overwhelmed by the love you continue to show me, and every time one of you chooses to reblog or comment on one of my works, saying that it resonated with you, I feel like I'm doing something right. I'm sharing my ideas, my own experiences, my wishes, and even my deepest, darkest dreams through my writing like it's a fucking diary, and you eat it up every single time.

I'm just so glad that this community exists, as chaotic as it sometimes is, and that you chose to stick around, even when I suck at keeping promises sometimes. You keep teaching me new things about who I am, my writing, and how important it is to put myself first. I don't know if you've heard it lately, but you guys are incredible and I appreciate the hell out of every single one of you.

Thanks to Tumblr, I made lifelong friends (especially looking at you, @blackshadowswriter) and found like-minded people that made me feel less alone. That alone was worth making this account and continuing to post on here.

You may think that I'm being dramatic, but for someone who has never really experienced the kind of validation this community gives me, I want to celebrate this milestone. It means more to me than I can even put into words. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I love you all so much! Please, don't ever forget how amazing you are.

That being said, I've got some exciting things planned.

The other day, I found a folder in my Docs titled "the vault". I completely forgot about it because I usually keep my WIPs in a different folder. As it turns out, I made that folder for fics that I originally never planned to post, or ones that I'd finished but wasn't happy with. It’s many, but it’s a few. Some are deeper than others. I also jotted down rough ideas and outlines last year that I stuffed in there, some of which I've actually shared with you but never started working on. Until now. And the contents of that vault are what I want to give to you now.

INTRODUCING: The Vault

6 stories from the vault. 1 bonus fic. 7 days.

I went through a myriad of emotions while I wrote these. For some, I actually bled my soul onto paper. For others, it was merely a brain fart that led to their existence. They're sad, horny, and at times angry, but some of those were originally written for me, and only me. Those that weren't started as a few sentences in a folder before I forgot they existed. Either way, I don't want them to catch dust. And I wouldn't want to share them with anyone else.

Starting February 14th, I will be posting one fic every day until February 20th. My “The Vault” works are Matt Murdock x Reader works, but I've made an exception for the bonus fic. I won't tell you what they are about, but I will give you a list of installments and what kind of fic they are so you know what to be excited about (and maybe which ones are not your cup of tea).

-> The number at the end tells you the date I will be posting it on, but I put it in chronological order as well.

How do you stay motivated to keep writing when you have no inspiration??

How I Stay Motivated

Staying motivated to write takes a lot of work. Motivation to write will come and go. For example:

The Kingdom of Misfortune (TKOM): It took me 6 years to write this book, mostly because I wasn't motivated. I was in high school, then college, suffering through an illness and losing an entire organ in my digestive tract. But I now know tips that would've saved me so much more time if I had just followed them.

The Whispers of Eternity (TWOE): It took me a year to fully finish this book.

The new secret series: The first book took me three months.

So, I have some tricks I've learned since 2021, when I released TKOM, which I will happily share.

Outlining.

When I wrote TKOM, I did it entirely off the dome. At the time, I didn't see a problem with that, but I experimented with some outlining with TWOE and learned that it really does wonders. It does more than I thought it would. Outlining sets an expectation. It allows me to know where this chapter will start, what it will contain, and where it will end. Of course, sometimes my characters throw me a curveball, and we go off the outline. That is okay because outlines can be adjusted. Another thing outlining really helps me with is if you go a few days without writing and need help remembering precisely what a character says, you don't have to go hunt for what chapter it's in. In my outline, I give a brief one-sentence description of a conversation. "They talked about his childhood," for example. That tells me if I need to remember what was said, that is the chapter I need to reread. It saves me so much time. You just need to be good at summarizing the entire chapter within one short paragraph.

Set Goals.

You can set goals that you want to meet and hold yourself to it. Could you start with small goals that you want to accomplish each day? This could be as simple as writing 3,000 words a day. Could you give yourself a time limit each day to achieve these goals? I set harsh deadlines for myself to follow with TWOE. I wanted the first rough draft completed within five months. I accomplished that even though I wasn't motivated each day because I stuck to my goals. Do not set yourself up for failure by setting unreasonable goals. You know yourself better than anyone else. What works for some people will not work for you, which is okay. Just because I wrote the first draft of a book in three months does not mean that's reasonable for you. This is my third one, after all.

Take Breaks.

Taking breaks is essential. It keeps you from getting burnt out on your ideas. Sometimes, you cannot force writing. It's okay to put a project down for a little bit. You must be confident in your ability to shelve something to work on something else. For example, I shelved book 3 of The Western World Chronicles for an entirely new series. I knew I wasn't in the right place to write it. Don't force it. Return when your mind is fresh and ready to continue. Breaks don't have to be long, either. Short breaks are just as helpful. Days, weeks, months. They're all valid.

Avoid Distractions.

Sometimes, you just need to lock yourself in a quiet room with no TV, music, or anything else. I can't write if my husband is in the room. He's my biggest distraction, and multiple times, I have had to lock him out of the room. Of course, this requires money, but some people work best if they travel to a remote place specifically to write. I would love to be able to afford to travel to the places where my new series takes place. It has multiple settings all over the US and even the rest of the world. I'd love to write these chapters in these places and experience what life is like there. Greece and Dubai are two areas directly mentioned in the new series. I've never been to either.

Reward Yourself.

Each time you meet one of your goals, reward yourself. Go get ice cream! Order a new book! Set up a gold star chart for yourself like they do kindergartens. Do whatever will make you feel accomplished.

Write Everyday.

I don't mean to write your story every day. Just write something every day. There are multiple places to go to get free writing prompts. Do one every day. Make it a habit and stick to it.

Enter Writing Contests.

Shockingly, I still do this. Reedsy, for example, has writing contests. You do have to pay to enter for a chance at a prize, but if you just want to enter a story for others to read but not to be judged or do the prompt, it is entirely free. You can enter hundreds of other contests; you just have to find them.

Find Inspiration.

Sometimes, inspiration doesn't flow. In the writing space, there is no such thing as a completely original idea. There are too many books and authors for that. If you've drawn inspiration from something for your current project, please feel free to soak it up. Each time you're feeling unmotivated, return to it. You can also look for similar titles in the same genre and check them out. Do not copy, though. Copying and taking inspiration from are two different things.

Take Care of Yourself.

My most important tip is that you should ALWAYS take care of yourself. Make sure you've eatenand drink water or another liquid while you write. Take care of your body. Take a shower. Go to the gym. These things help you not only physically but also mentally.

There are more tips. I am sure I could come up with another five, but these are the ones I use daily. I think they are the most important ones to follow.

Bernard had known a long time. He had known since High school who Tim was. It wasn't hard to figure out, and while Tim went great lengths to hide it, if you knew what to look for, it was easy to sniff out.

So, when Tim sat him down in their now shared apartment, Bernard was prepared. Be was going to let Tim tell him himself, when he was ready.

"Look, I should have told you sooner, I know I should have," Tim sighed, messing with the sleeves of the sweatshirt he had stolen from Bernard back when they first started dating. "I'm just... I never dated someone who didn't know before we dated."

"It's alright Tim," Bernard soothed.

"I know you're a vampire" "I'm Red Robin"

The two stared at each other. Neither spoke.

Y'all ever think Billy just casual hints he's a foster kid/homeless to the Leauge?

Like, they don't know Marvel's identity, but things just kinda Hint At It?

Like Superman and Marvel are evacuating civilians and like... Marvel not only remembers the homeless exist, reminds Supes they exists, and knows all the poteial Aves they are? And all be says is he gets it and doesn't blame Supes because "if I didn't have experiences like them I would have forgotten too" or aome line like that?

Or just how much get gets along with Jason? Like even post-ressurection Jadon. The two talk for hours about the best spots they've squatted or how Captain Marvel of all the Justice Leauge appreciates what Jason is doing. Like, he may not fully approve of the method, remember he's still an idealist and a kid, but he understands the motivation and reason for it and behind it.

Or he just casually mentions he's an orphan and "grew up in some rough spots before finding my family."

Stuff like that.

My one hope for AC mirage is that there is a somewhat detailed database again.

(I hated Valhalla's codex database because it was too short and it didn't really tell much about the characters, the environment, or the time period. It felt like they were more myths than actual fleshed out characters. The database helps immensely with things like character motivations and backstory.)

I've been listening to the song, Curico by Kiltro all day long. (Thanks Serpent Sol MAP) I looked up the lyrics on Genius and its about a man who dreams about the ghost of a woman named Julita.

And I came up with a tiny star wars Rebels AU in my head. This is very rough. I only have the bare beginning of a plot.

Caleb loses his mother, Depa, in an accident after a man named Maul and Death Watch kill her.

Several years later, two families move into the neighborhood near the docks; the Bridgers and the Wrens. The kids, Sabine, Ezra, and Tristan, don't believe the local ghost stories about the wailing woman near the docks. Then Ezra starts having dreams about a man in black, a running kid, and a woman yelling for him to run. He wakes with tears in his eyes.

At the local seaside restaurant known as the Ghost, Zeb, a friend of Sabine and Ezra's, asks Kanan and his wife Hera about the ghost stories surrounding the area.

I know this isn't canon, but I like to think Kanan sometimes uses a cane outside of combat.

He starts using it because he finds trying to use force sight all the time uncomfortable, like overextending a muscle and straining it. So he opts for a cane.

Kanan finds that using his cane to get around makes it easier to avoid bumping into people or things and figure out where stairs, ramps, and holes are.

Masquerade

Ok, so… I think I am done with these two dancing! I had FUN with drawing this artwork, though it was also a HUGE challenge. I feel I got better at rendering in digital! The power of simping, I guess. And yeah, I promised to deliver Jamil (And Ashenviper) content and, while it took almost 3 weeks, I hope you all will enjoy these two.

To be fair, Twisted Wonderland somehow kicked my creativity a lot, and I feel much more motivated to do art. Especially Jamil art. Thank you, @masterofrecords, it's all your fault.

The masquerade event was just a perfect combination of beautiful Jamil and Azul, Venetian Masquerade aesthetic (love it, LOVE it) and the gothic architecture (that I am obsessed with since childhood and that I am trying to learn to 3d model). And it also kicked my memories of historical dancing, so now I went back to it!

Hope to make more art! If you love Jamil Viper and have any ideas for future artworks - feel free to drop an ask!

Got it when learnt what these two did in Masquerade event. We love controller casters in this house.

In other news:

Looks like Ruggie was the only one that did not get the baroque heels. Yes, the heels on all the other costumes are the one you wear for Baroque dancing.

Rollo, ffs, man, why the only guy you put in typical 18-century breeches and stockings (that accentuate calfs BEAUTIFULLY) is JAMIL. Don't get me wrong, dancing makes your calfs look suuuuuper nice, but Rollo, your brain works in... interesting ways.

(I admire Azul's self-control, he did not combust on spot when he saw that)

soooo it’s been A YEAR (AGAIN) and i’m still not consistent but i think this year really comforted me in the fact that i’m back making content indeed (even if it’s still motivated by strong hyperfixations) and looking back i can see some progress so i’m glad and i want to keep that positive feeling with me so i’m making a top 15 of my edits made in 2021 (out of 77 posts including edits, gifs, videos and writing i made this year 😱).

As we’re getting closer and closer to the end of 2021 I wanted to make a thank you message! There is so many things I want to say and honestly I don’t even have the words to put them out! (Despite being someone that writes...Shh)

This year has been hard on me, and a lot of other people too. This year I had a lot of personal issues happening my life that I had to battle against. When I first started this account I never would have imagined growing this much and achieving what I have you with guys.

ꕥ Kpop had always been something that had been there for me through the years, in 2014 a friend of mine unfortunately was taken away from this world but before he left me he introduced me to Kpop. He showed me all of this incredible work from people and I hid that I liked it. 

ꕥ I hid it for so long that I finally found something that made me feel like I belonged somewhere, I didn’t want people to know and for them to judge me more than they already did.

ꕥ But as years went on I continued to fall more and more in love with it I decided that in 2019 I wanted to start creating fanfics.  At the end of 2019 when I first started this blog I was having a rough patch, I had just gone through a toxic friendship with someone that ended up shattering me into a billion and one pieces. It’s hard for me to describe what happened between me and this person as it was a three year long process of what they had done to me and conditioned me. But it broke me.

ꕥ I suffered with my depression a long time before this person but it seemed to have gotten worse when they had finally gone. I couldn’t get out of bed in a morning, I wouldn’t and couldn’t leave my house alone and to this day still struggle with things but time went on...

ꕥ I started writing mostly for myself as a way of comfort. I would write small fics down on my laptop and save them on a USB stick for myself to go back and read. I needed something in my life that was going to keep me getting up and out of bed every day, something that was going to kick my ass into gear and this was it. 

ꕥ I decided that I wanted to create content that made me happy and as it so happened it made other people happy and comforted them too so I began posting.

ꕥ It’s now getting into 2022 and I couldn’t be more thankful for every single one of you that follow me and have supported me during my time on tumblr. Without knowing it you all help me so much, even if its just by liking my posts or interacting with me you all help.

ꕥ Through tumblr I have managed to met so many beautiful and wonderful people who I now can call some of my best friends. People I speak to outside of this app and some I don’t but still I know I can count on them! So thank you! Thank you for helping me.

ꕥ You give me that reason to motivate me in the mornings, you give me that boost I need to say to myself “M, you need to get out of bed because your content brings joy to people online” it wasn’t just me I was creating for anymore.

It was you.

Words will never be able to describe how incredibly thankful I am for each of you, even if you’re just a silent supporter or someone that lurks without an account I love you and I cherish you so much.

I… feel sad.

So, I’m going to write about it. And drink. But also write.

I feel like I’ll never amount to much in my life. Despite people telling me otherwise, I feel like I… have little left to give or to contribute.

Yes, I know… factually, I know that that isn’t true. Doesn’t change the fact that that’s how I feel. I haven’t felt this sad in a while. I think I was in a bit of a shocked-state after the GRE. Now, reality has had time to sink in… and… reality doesn’t look pretty.

This might sound selfish. I assure you, it’s not a cry for help, nor am I saying that I’m going to end my life, so relax, dear reader. All I want to say is that… wish I had never existed in the first place. It does feel like everyone around me would have been somehow (inexplicably) better off had I never come into their lives.

Again, I know factually that that’s not necessarily correct. Out there, in the meta-verse, there exists a reality where I hadn’t existed. I wonder what my loved ones would have done in that reality.

I want to do something useful, something worthwhile, something… good with my life. But the lack of motivation is crushing. The only thing that’s actually helped me (if I’m being brutally honest) is my diagnosis and the fact that I refuse to stop going to therapy (twice a month).

Speaking of my ADHD diagnosis, I was… diagnosed THIS year. Yet, it feels like almost a 3 years have passed. Granted, 2020 and 2021 have both been rough years… for everyone. I just… I don’t know.

All I know is that I feel like I’ve let life pass me by. And that it’s too late for me somehow.

What's up everybody, I know I haven't posted anything in a while and I wanted to adress my abcense and some other stuff that I wanted to talk about but never knew how to bring it up.

So, to those who follow me and dont really know who am I as a content creator:

hi, the name is Christian, you can call me Chris, I'm somewhat of an artist and like to post my stuff here.

Now, even if you have been following me for a while you may have noticed that I really don't post very often and that I haven't been around for a while even if I claim that I'm trying to be more active, well I think it's about time to talk about the issue and make some big changes around here.

But first of all, why does it even matter?

Well, to be honest the past three to four years I haven't really seen my online connection as serious business since I am primarly a student, and school does suck all of my time, the problem with that is that I really feel like I havent been respectful to you, the audience, not that I owe you anything but since I am now trying to make a living from my art, it is necessary to take this connection between the audience seriously and with a bit more respect.

In those three years all I've ever did was too much talk and too little deliver, so I apologize to those people who were really invested into the stuff I do, I really appreciate you guys.

So with that aside...

I wanted to talk about mental health.

I know what you may be thinking, "what the heck Chris? What does this have to do with you being a lazy ass biss?"

Well, it's kinda simple as it is complicated so I will be putting here some bullets to make it easier to you to navigate through and to let you know how long it is going to be to those who really really just want to skip this post already

Well, was, not anymore (mostly), or at least not as serious as I was some monts ago. Listen, shit went down, it's 2020 and that was inevitable, but I really want to go trough some points to give you context.

This year has been specially rough to me because of some circumstances that a few may know, but for context I'll be telling you about it.

The danplan shit did a lotta damage my bros

Ah, yes, long story short, I was an animator in that channel before the figgin drama

But it wasnt really that bad, you see, I really think that it was inevitable that it was going to end like that because of how are those two, but at the time I had to shut a lot of stuff because I didn't wanted to make it worse as the other animators did... but in retrospective, If we had talked about how we felt about the issue in that moment maybe it could have been better, or maybe not, I don't know and maybe I'll post a rant about it some other time (or maybe I wont), the point. is.

It was emotionally taxing, and to be honest it screwed me very bad. You see, I know I am not that good of an artist in comparisson to the others, nor have the best management of my social media, or another project to keep me on the public eye for a while, and since I went back to school I couldnt possible be hired by another channel because of my lack of time; so loosing my job at danplan was a HUGE deal to me because I knew that none of the jobs available in my country could pay off as good nor be as flexible as being an animator was, so that whole ordeal was really, really frustrating.

Then school became a living hell

Since I escentially lost that job I did try desperately to find anything as good to fill the void (it sounds dramatic but believe me, it felt really bad fam.) So the opportunity presented itself and I took a bone in stephen's channel.

In all honesty it was a good job and it was quite fun, but I didn't really stayed as a full time animator, I believe it was due lack of time or maybe my style wasn't really what they were going for, and tbh fair game... but it was still bad news for me because I was that desperate to find a new job, and I was so inmersed on doing that so I wasn't taking good care of my grades.

So now I had two problems, no job, and I was doing terrible on school because of my obsession with the job hunting.

And at the time I was still part of the community...

I was very active in the dp community and in Pau's server, I found great people and did some art because I really felt happy about it...

But honestly, that didn't last long.

School started to be a real problem and I did fail two of my school subjects, at the end of the semester I was burned out, and sleep deprived, so there was that.

One of my finals was a video talking about the drama and stuff and I've never finished it because I ran out of time and eventually I didn't felt it right abaut it, because it was like opening a grave again, like it was something too disrespectful even if it was originally intended for the sake of the animators, to give them, us, some justice at the end of the day... but I couldn't do it. It wasn't fair to everyone else because they moved on.

And that was the beginning of this crappy thing I've been carrying around.

I just. Can't. Finish. Anything.

I just overthink everything and fail before I begin any of the pieces, or Im about to finish but change my mind because Its. Not. Good. Enough.

I have a TON of pieces that never saw the light of the day BECAUSE I'm not in the right state of mind, and it is painful, because I love doing art as much as I love engaging with you guys, even if you are a few to maybe 10 people, I enjoy it. And It sucks to not be able to do stuff because I feel crappy.

And I know for fact that feeling crappy it's a crappy excuse to not do anything

But I don't mean that to anyone else but myself, because I feel like I could be better and do better, but... it isn't working, the global situation did some damage too, and I've been manageing, still, I haven't been able to finish a lot of stuff and honestly, I just want to come back before I become a ghost account.

So what's up? What's poppin'?

The plan is to try to force myself to finish at least one piece per week to keep this alive until I find the will to work normally again.

Maybe it's not the best solution, but I think this will motivate me a little since I really want to materialize some projects that I have had on the back of my head for a long time now, and I really want to start em' and share it with you along the way... so yeah, that's basically it.

Okay I’m watching Hawkeye 1x6 and the part where Kate tells Clint about how she saw him fighting aliens and it made her realize she didn’t have to be scared and that anyone brave enough to do what’s right can be a superhero made me cry (predictably, it’s me, lmao), omfg, my two Hawkeyes <3333333

This little butthole got a clean bill of health from the vet! Both he and I are extremely relieved to be done with medications, lol. But little does he know, he’ll be getting his teeth cleaned in the next few months!

Just watched Tick Tick... Boom! (which I loved btw) and there’s a scene where Jonathan and his friend Michael have an argument and Michael says something like ‘yeah, that’s what the world needs, more art’ and I have to say, that really hit me.

Because you know what? Art is IMPORTANT. I cannot even begin to discuss all the ways art has affected me, and the emotional impact it has. I mean, just imagine if someone like Jonathan Larson had decided ‘fuck it, I give up’, and then there’s no Rent, and all the people who saw Rent and were inspired, they don’t have that, and then we don’t have it, the world doesn’t have it, and it’s just a slide of things we would miss out on.

The past few years have been rough, both in general and for me personally, and you know what happened in the summer of 2020? Hamilton got released in a filmed version, and it absolutely changed my life. Maybe that sounds silly! But that’s what art does. It speaks to you, and it grabs hold of you. I must have watched that movie 15 times by now, and it always cheers me up. I have listened to the OBC recording God only knows how many times, enough that I can sing the whole thing, and it drives me, it motivates me, and it makes me feel good. Even when I’m crying because the emotional bits speak to my soul, it just helps me. I used to listen to it at my shit job that I hated and then I would put it on during study breaks to get me through my return to school so I could leave my shit job I hated. I listen to it in the car, while I run, all the time, and it never fails to boost me. Hamilton even got me to write a little bit, when I’ve been in a creative low. And that’s just one single piece of art.

Yeah, maybe a guy sitting in his apartment writing songs isn’t saving the rainforests, but what he’s doing is a vital part of the human experience. Musicals have certainly saved me in a way I can't articulate. Remembering being a little kid seeing a live performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and having my mind absolutely blown. Learning On My Own to perform in a class that I thought was a chorus and was instead a solo class and realizing I could fucking do it, I could sing that beautiful song in front of a room full of people while I was totally terrified and crush it. Sobbing to Nina Rosario singing Breathe because that song understands me and how I feel. Belting out Defying Gravity in the car on the way to a job interview because it makes me feel strong and powerful and in charge of my own destiny. Dancing to Living It Up On Top because the joy is infectious. Laughing along to A Little Priest because somehow it’s impossible not to laugh with crazy weirdos having way too much fun making cannibalism puns.

tl;dr: Art fucking matters, and I don’t want to live in a world without it.
