SPOILERS!!! TO THE NEW OWL HOUSE EPISODE, IGNORE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET. So, here’s my brief thoughts on the new episode.

First off, Flapjack’s passing and sacrifice to save Hunter’s life heavily reminds me of this Godzilla scene.

Second, as a bit of an update announcement to the Ice Age AU of mine, and again: SPOILERS (sort of) TO THE NEW OWL HOUSE EPISODE, IGNORE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET.

Okay so, for context as a majority of you know last year (going from then up to now) I started the Ice Age AU (can be looked at here on Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/owl%20house%2Fice%20age%20AU?sort=recent, or DeviantArt: https://www.deviantart.com/artmakerproductions/gallery?q=Owl+House+Ice+Age+AU) and it was inspired by the episode “Eclipse Lake” and how it heavily reminded me of the first Ice Age film. I got pretty close to how it played out in the show about how Hunter’s arc would go and even right down to the self sacrifice against Belos and loosely Flapjack’s involvement with it, but have yet to be officially uploaded, but drawn, several weeks back in the tail end of summer/early fall.

I might be able to upload a chunk of the AU by tomorrow.

I encourage you anons to read the law. Section 2256 of Title 18, United States Code, defined child pornography as any VISUAL depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor. I have linked the US department of justice website where it states these laws if you’re curious. Fan fiction does not fall under this at all. Written media does not fall under this at all. Let’s just say that this does fall under child porn laws. Possession is illegal as well. I hope you know that and if you don’t it is clearly stated in the US department of justice website that is linked. Viewing can fall under possession with the knowledge that it is child pornography, the reasoning is that it is stored in your cache and it is in technical possession. View the second link to a law firm that states this. Continuing on, this piece of media was labeled with the appropriate labels depicting that this was regarding an under age character. This would not fall under accidental viewing of child pornography, rather it will fall under intentional viewing. Intentional viewing of child pornography is very very very illegal. There is no way in court that you are able to say you accidentally read this fan fiction. The proper warnings were on the website and if you went in without reading them that is unfortunate, but it’s you saying “I didn’t know” versus the government saying you viewed child pornography. You will never win in a court of law. There is not one federal law that says viewing is illegal but there are laws in every state that says it’s illegal. View Florida Statute 827.071(5)(a) or Pennsylvania criminal Code chapter 18 Section 6312(d) for examples. If you want to go the legal route, May I suggest deleting every single comment you made about ever even reading what you claim to be child pornography whether or not it was intentional.

Kind of how the lore with Maleficent, where “King Stefan, simply known as Stefan” was the love interest for Maleficent. Based on the live-action movie Maleficent states that King Stefan, “was an ambitious man who was Maleficent's best friend and love interest when they were younger. Unlike his animated version of the character (who is portrayed as a kind, gentle and just ruler of his kingdom), this version of Stefan is cruel, tyrannical, and manipulative, and his cruelty is heavily implied to be what caused Maleficent to become evil in the first place.”

SPOILER AHEAD: 

So you are there in Raven College being the love interest of the boys, but then instead of staying with them, the prince from Royal Sword Academy comes in and falls in love with you. Then a love triangle conflict until you just fall in love with the prince and marry him.

BECAUSE OF THIS, the boys in Raven college officially becomes a villain and tries to k1ll the prince. This leads to entering the typical fairy tale story.

So basically an example of this is Vil x Yu/Main character x Neige

Although it is already stated why Vil dislikes Neige: “ Vil knew to an extent that no matter how hard he trained and tried, he would never be able to defeat Neige, which made Vil resort to cheating (poisoning Neige). Neige is also one of the prime reasons why Vil overblotted.”

Online Harassment

Harassment in online places is a growing source of public debate and concern. Pervasive issues such as cyberbullying, hate speech, and the promotion of self-harm have exposed the extent and intensity of harassment occurring online (Pater et al., 2016). 

According to a survey conducted by the Cyberbullying Research Centre, 73% of students who have been cyberbullied did so via social media. Facebook is the most commonly used site for cyberbullying, followed by Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. However, cyberbullying may occur on any social media platform, including texting and messaging applications, online forums, chat rooms, and message boards, and online gaming environments (Bergman, 2023). 

What has to be done to avoid internet harassment? 

Governments and society as a whole must closely monitor this abuse, and social media businesses must utilise their technological and financial resources to prioritise freedom online for girls and young women. Also create effective and accessible reporting procedures to address gender-based violence (Plan International, 2020).

Facebook has released its new policy in order to avoid harassment, which includes the following (Davis, 2021):

In order to update policies, engagement with a wide variety of global stakeholders and communities is required.

strengthened measures on a worldwide scale to protect members of the community who are at risk of being abused online.

There are specific actions that can be taken to combat combined mass harassment.

continued engagement with subject matter specialists to guarantee the safety of the base.

Extremely stringent content removal for those who repeatedly break the rules and violate the policies.

Review of the policy on a regular basis, with feedback from safety professionals.

WEEK 8: How Instagram Filters Crash Beauty?

Instagram is a social networking site that places an emphasis on the arts and aesthetics. In order to add a favorable vibe to their photos, users frequently use Instagram's filter while taking pictures or selfies. However, in order to give audiences a "real" sense, users of this site choose natural filters over "cute" and "fun" filters like those on Snapchat (Lavrence & Cambre, 2020).

More precisely, as stated by Lavrence & Cambre (2020), the novelty of the applications originally fueled the obvious, fun forms of editing that filters generated (such as the dog face filter). However, in today's social media ecologies, "a shift to subtler, ambient forms of editing, where it is not always obvious, has become normalized and entrenched." This tendency has normalized the use of filters by creating an underlying aesthetic standard for users' digital presence and images.

This is a result of the face filters' ability to increase user satisfaction when interacting with social media. A person's physical appearance can be enhanced by these filters in accordance with their ideals of beauty (Arrouf, 2018), or they can be used to conceal their identity through the use of stylized filters. According to Herrington (2019), one way to characterize the distinct features of the filters is that they let users explore an extensive array of physical possibilities that are not feasible in everyday life.

On the other side, "The pervasiveness of these filtered images can affect self-esteem, make you feel bad that you are not in the real world, and even lead to body dysmorphic disorder," as Faouda Soussi puts it in her 2021 blog post, addresses these kinds of difficulties (Soussi,2021). As I mentioned in my piece last week, BDD is a major problem in today's world and will continue to have a negative impact on a number of individuals. Seeing those who exhibit an idealized figure or a flawless face might make others feel inadequate, which in turn can cause an increase in the number of persons experiencing anxiety and sadness. The social conundrum Education systems must address BDD in order to increase people's understanding of this societal disorder.

Week 4: Digital Community and Fandom: Reality TV Case Study

With the advent of the internet, reality television has gone digital, spawning thriving fandoms and communities online. We are redefining our relationship with reality TV on platforms like Tumblr, where viewers analyse, debate, and share their favourite episodes.

By focusing on how social media has made reality TV more participatory, Ruth A. Deller's 2019 piece in "Reality Television: The TV Phenomenon That Changed the World" analyses this phenomena. The mutually beneficial connection between these shows and their online viewers is illuminated by Deller's observations.

Research on reality TV subreddits conducted by Chen and McCabe in 2022 sheds new light on the ways in which these sites encourage political discussion, demonstrating the breadth and depth of ideas brought up by programmes like "The Bachelor"​​.

One way that real-time social media interactions can foster a feeling of national community is through Mark Stewart's investigation of live tweeting during reality shows. The ability of reality TV to bring people together, as described in his 2020 study, is seen in this occurrence.

In her essay from 2022, Helen Wood talks about how reality TV shows nowadays need to be more empathetic and on how "Big Brother" is coming back. This is a reflection of the rising expectation for sensitive and genuine reality television.

"Reality TV and Queer Identities" is Michael Lovelock's 2019 book that explores the portrayal of LGBTQ+ people on reality TV and how the genre influences how people view sexuality and authenticity.

Studying "RuPaul's Drag Race" from 2017 by Brennan and Gudelunas highlights the impact of reality TV on cultural narrative formation and how the show has contributed to the globalisation of drag culture.

L'Hoiry's 2019 study on "Love Island" provides a new angle on viewer participation by highlighting how sousveillance and social media have questioned long-held assumptions about the authenticity of reality television.

Finally, "a tumblr book: platform and cultures" has a roundtable discussion about 2020 that sheds light on the fan cultures on Tumblr and how digital platforms are now fundamental to reality TV.

Overall, these resources show how online communities and fandoms have changed the way we watch reality TV. The way these shows and their internet viewers engage with political discourse and cultural representation reflects how media consumption is changing.

[MM-010] Mind mapping | Building up of the story | Gathering Information 04 | Summary of the story

After having a few changes done to the plot of the story with the feedback and help of Poornima, I reworded it.

Summary of the story 01:

The story takes place in an alternative Earth, during the stone age era. Humans have been damaging nature. Nature takes revenge from humans in forms of natural disasters to take the lives of humans and reduce the population.

Story build up 02:

Nature takes revenge from humans by creating its own creatures to take the lives of people. Some scientists have captured some of these creatures for study, as what they usually do, while studying them, they will be attacked by some of the other creatures.

Story build up 03:

Instead of scientists studying them, they fight the creatures and take over the world. But they will eventually be defeated by the creators.
