i do think that even at its height in 2020/2021, the spnblr renaissance was still a really good size like big enough that insane days like the valentine’s day wedding were possible and events that made destiel trend with the funniest possible timing could still occur and tons of content was made and absorbed but not too big that like. it ended up feeling incredibly lonely.

Thinking about a series of fics set in an au where each of the pairings is somehow connected as part of various environment-based research. 

A Pierre/Charles one where Pierre and Charles studied to be meteorologists together. Charles end up going on to work for a severe storms research centre as one of their crisis intervention and innovation leads, Pierre works as a freelance storm chaser, and their paths cross again when a rogue major hurricane hits Europe for the first time in years. 

A Sewis lighthouse AU, Seb as a lighthouse attendant whose family’s lighthouse sees investors and engineers come and go in plans to revive an old offshore oil rig that has sat stagnant for decades. Meets a man who he thinks will be more of the same, but ends up being a marine researcher hoping to do some exploratory work on sonar levels in the inlet.

A Maxiel fic where Max is a way-too-young-to-be-a-researcher PHD student doing a research intensive summer in the geothermal parks in New Zealand working 12 hour days collecting samples when he meets one of the park guides who has come over from Australia ‘just to get out and do something different’. Max does not understand the appeal of having to trek a bunch of hot sweaty tourists who don’t even know what precipitated silica is through the sun all summer. He does however turn beet red and laughing when Daniel greets him with a  grin an a “good to know you scientist can clean up well outside the work suits. Was beginning to worry the whole sulfur was just an excuse for you lot” when he sees him at a bar in the city.
