2521 Rant#1
I still don’t get the ending for 2521 and yes, I’m still obessing over this beautiful show that, unfortunately, has a BS ending. It was just that kind of show. I’m at a loss when looking at the final episodes. Like 3+ re-runs later and this shitshow is still not adding up. I’m still confused - are these the same characters we’ve been seeing built up for the last 13 episodes? [Character regression might be a thing, but there is a galaxy-sized gap between ep 1-13 Baekdo and ep 14-16 Baekdo...]
These writers expect us to somehow believe that Heedo, the girl who;
-has never given up on anything in her goddam life (even the relatively less monumental stuff like Yeji, Full House, the sword Yijin gave her, training at nights, ....etc)
-has fought tooth and nail for basically every relationship in her life
-survived on a bunch of 4 year old cassettes of Yijin talking about school and life + 1 voicemail over the 6 months she and Yijin were apart
-was able to understand and forgive her mother for the same shit that she is scared Yijin will pull on her (my money is on ‘this boy would definitely get therapy and spend the rest of his life cogniscnent and careful of not putting Heedo through that because he’s seen Heedo cry enough times over that to know that’s line he will not cross)
THIS GIRL, you expect us to believe she just gives up? ..... on Yijin?
And Yijin. Aish. This guys ghosts everyone, he ghosted Yurim every few episodes, everyone except Heedo. When he went to his uncle’s place, the only person from Seoul he kept in touch with was Heedo. Even when he was knee deep in cigarettes and pain, he still picked up the phone to tell this girl he’d be there in time for Full House V15. The last thing he did before he high-tailed his ass out of town was leaving Heedo a sword at her home.  This guy who has done his fair share of fighting for the things he wants. This guy who understands Heedo’s fear of being left alone, of being left behind. This guy who has found Heedo again and again in the most coincedental of ways (so screw the realism arguement, if you were going for realism, make it consistent). This guy who was losing his shit after being ignored by Heedo for a day, so much that “hate” didn’t even begin to describe how he felt about it. The guy who looked at Heedo and said “I love you, in every way.” Bro, you’re telling me that he just let her walk away?
The Heedo I know would have barfed out all of her feelings over Yijin’s attractive coats in that pure, honest way of hers. The Yijin I know would have considered Heedo’s feelings in the decisions he made and he would have listened to Heedo when she said she wanted to share his pain. The pair I had watched blossom over 13 wonderful episodes would have done anything, literally anything other than the BS that was shoved down our throats for the sake of adhering to their desired ending.
Well, I’m just really confused here. There are a lot of gaps. Not just Minchae’s father. But in the characters themselves. Accepting the existence of the father of Heedo’s kid who is apparently not Yijin is like trying to accept that the Earth is flat.
If I wanted to watch this sad, wacky crap that is apparently ‘realistic’, I would have just looked out the window at the snow on top of the lush green grass in April after it was like 20 degrees less than 24 hours ago....

How will i heal from the pains of life that 2521 showed. I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to go through what the characters in 2521 went through

SPOILERS FOR EP 11 of Crash Course In Romance
it's not easy being nam haeng-seon. and nam hae-e has grown up to realise that. it took a lot of courage on her part to reveal that haeng-seon is her aunt. this sets haeng-seon free to open up one part of her life and let someone in, someone she can rely on. haeng-seon, initially mad at hae-e for letting their secret out in such a way comes to realise that this is a gift in kind from this kid she raised well.
oh i was HOPING so bad for a scene with yeongju and chiyeol. AND I GOT IT. and it is everything i wanted. the parallel with hae-e telling haeng-seon to hold on to chiyeol & yeongju saying the same thing to chiyeol about haeng-seon.
MY IDIOTS IN THE PARKING LOT. I LOVE THEM <3 HAENG-SEON IS SO TINYYYYYY. (i checked online and we're almost the same height :|)
chiyeol taking her to the place by the river where he first acknowleged that he has feelings for this woman. and we get to see haeng-seon's side and it is VERY I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun. i squealed.
ahhhh the scene back at the banchan store is so cute. all of them bothering her for details.
hui-jae needs to talk to his mom. or someone more adult than him. he obviously cannot handle this alone and should seek help before things get out of hand.
i am glad nam hae-e has good classmates. if we encountered a bully today i would've flipped.
this director at the pride is really such a weasel. how/why are you hiding the possible murder of an employee from other workers??
oh i'm a bit worried about our assistant looking at the coffee and water like that. you scare me, boy. ooh he makes me scared for haeng-seon.
nawww she's blushing & giggling over flowers. i want her to be happy forever.
LET JAEWOO CALL HIM BROTHER-IN-LAW
ayyy seo geon-hu so slick. i hope sunjae doesn't spiral back into being a prick.
ji dong-hui you better fkn behave nicely with haeng-seon or i will metal ball you in the head
ugh let sunjae have his crush and live his teenage life. this is too much stress for him.
ALWAYS TRUST A WOMAN'S HUNCH.

the people defending or uhm actually-ing (not a verb but i don’t care) the ending of 2521 are either so jaded by life it’s depressing and don’t know how to have hope anymore or are desperately trying to cling onto the idea their beloved show got what it deserved.

If I had someone like Baek Yi Jin in this world where true love is rare, I'd never ever let go of him.

oh i see you finished 2521... well you see the ironic thing we found that they wanted to do this whole "realistic" thing but the main couple who literally formed a deep connection and understanding and bond before they were even together, talked through things... just somehow couldn't make their distance work at the time?? but also how is it realistic for them not to end up together but the couple that got together based off vanity got married and endgame like?? lmfao. yeah i didn't like the ending. i enjoyed it until ep 14. the last 2, they can keep. you can't show me the whole series that they are capable of understanding each other on that level and end it like that. the scene of them crying holding on to each other, they legit did not want to let go. in the end, it was the writers who desperately wanted to fit this weird narrative and had to make them act out of character for it to work. i legit enjoyed the show and its lessons but that was not one of them. plus, if they actually wanted me to believe heedo moved on and accepted it, why is everything around her a reminder of yijin? the colored chairs, the naming of her daughters ballet shoes where she wrote on it like yijin did her sword, her face when she hears his name... like? the problem i had with this personally is, when two people like /them/ like that.. with respect and understand of another, i dont see this ending being realistic in any way /for them/ like ive been in a bad relationship where the communication wasnt there etc & the basic opposite of those two and he was my first love and its more realistic for us not to have worked out and we didnt. but THEM? no.. i won't accept it and i would never accept this ending *sigh* sorry saw ur post and something made me angry all over again. the show def has replay value though i watch it when i want to feel encouraged like heedo or find my way again like yijin. i'll never forget those lessons, but i will forget the ending.
dude, the fact that i never thought about this point of view, but i agree with everything you said... like, you opened a whole new door for me and i will gladly get in
you made a really good point right there, so im afraid i wont be able to add up more into the argument
but, i want to highlight what you said about them not being the kind of couple that would end up like that. exactly!!! their characters were designed in a way in which it doesn't make sense they didn't end up together. almost as if the screenwriters spent more time justifying why they're meant for each other, instead of making up good reasons of why they had to break up
portraying how couples, as much as they can love each other, may not be together forever is a worthy lesson, someone's gotta talk about it!! that's what's more common between real people! and it's okay!!! but they didn't do it right in this story. they could've shown a couple with more downs than with ups, a couple that maybe didn't try enough, etc. but these guys, heedo and yijin, prioritized communication, naturally understood each other, they tried so hard because they loved each other and they chose to love each other every single day
the main difference between yijin and heedo's mom's actions is that yijin did tried. for instance, if he ever couldn't arrive at time, he would go to her house anyway... and heedo was truly okay with that because she understood him and they appreciated each other's effort no matter what. that was until the screenwriters remembered they were supposed to break up.
that last hug showed how the characters didn't want to break up, that reason wasn't worth-breaking-up enough for them
so, yeah
sigh

Look I already know that Hee-do and Yi-jin are going to break up and all that, and tbh their romance isn’t why I loved them in the first place
But seeing Yu-rim and Hee-do crying on the couch because the world is forcing them apart when neither of them wants it to happen… I’m actually sobbing
