#28portraitchallenge day 12: dreamy. This is my first self portrait in years, and I decided to go with a surreal and whimsical touch, though it wasn’t originally meant to be as representational as it now is. Peonies are my favorite flower, but the wings are from Imperial Pied Doves, my animal persona; the strawberry flowers show my favorite fruit(by appearance) and Baguio, the international capital of strawberries, where my mother is from; and then at my heart I put my favorite pencil to show my art, a linglingo to show my heritage, and an ace pin to show my sexuality(also biromantic, but I might actually be lesbian). #28portraitchallenge day 25: Lavini, Whispers of Wanderers. I didn’t mean to make them so cheeky, but here we are. Lavini is part of a people said to be descended from “the one-eyed watcher,” a great beasts with moons for eyes, until one was stabbed out. There is debate over the one-eyed watcher is a protector of the night or a demon who lurks in darkness, and that debate leads to mixed feelings about this race. #28portraitchallenge day 28: Dream, Conversion(see details at bottom of post). That’s a wrap! I did this challenge to practice making finished, even if imperfect, pieces, and work on a cohesive subject for an extended amount of time. I am happy to say that it definitely helped with both. Thank you to @djamilaknopf for the challenge! Dream is the main character of Conversion. Here is her appearance in Sylvatrix’s dimension. Dream has her fair share of emotional corruption, but she isn’t very good at recognizing that, so it manifests on her back, where she can’t see it. #28portraitchallenge day 27: Sylvatrix. Sylvatrix is from one of the first stories I wrote down: Conversion. She started as a magical dimension traveler, became a human, and now is an energy being whose emotions affect her physical state. Those red and blue patches on her skin are actually signs of emotional decay. The blue is sorrow and apathy, and the red is anger, the defense mechanism she uses to hide her pain. #28portraitchallenge day 24: Fende, Whispers of Wanderers. Fende was caught in an ice storm as a child and lost her arm and leg from frostbite. She was immobile for many years until she was able to get enchanted elven prosthetics, which are actually controllable and have nerves. She wears a doll-like prosthetic over then to protect and conceal them, since Elben prosthetics are very rare. In this dimension, Defender is a demigod who was gifted all powerful magic. She has been fighting in a war since she was 15, leading the charge against Toxin, a blood sorceress from a distant land who rules using fear. This Ailene is also albino, but does not have access to melanin pills or hair dye, thus her lighter appearance. After the last war, when the Dark Force ravaged the kingdom of Etolia and killed the Celestials, purveyors of magic, and Empren Faylen and her heir, a stranger was named Empren, assumed to be a relative of Faylen hidden for her own safety.
