Lookism Characters and Their Tastes in Music ♪ (Headcannons)
Daniel Park:
Daniel likes alternative/indie pop, Soul, and R&B. He likes any song that gives a chill vibe to it and songs with nice lyrics.
Khai Dreams, mxmtoon, Keshi, etc.
He enjoys listening to Lo-Fi too, while he just lays on the ground in his house, relaxing, contemplating about events in his life until he accidentally falls asleep.
Sometimes, he sends Jay a text message asking what songs he’d recommend and Jay would send him a three-page list of songs in an online document
Zack Lee:
Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B
Consists of hyped artists like Drake, 21 Savage, A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi, etc.
He used to be a big fan of Kanye West, but after Kanye’s multiple controversies, he stopped listening to his music because he now believes that he’s trash.
But on days when he feels down, he listens to artists like Joji. *insert Glimpse of Us here while Zack cries a river*
Vasco:
Vasco is into the older classic 60s-80s bands: Queen, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Journey, etc.
Prefers the oldies with meaningful lyricsm rather than the new songs on the radio
However, he enjoys listening to more of the earlier 2010s boy bands like One Direction, and Backstreet Boys from the 90s. (He even listens to that one song that Daniel and Duke made, on repeat since he asked Duke to send him a copy of that song.)
Doesn’t mind listening to some classic 70s songs from Air Supply, Bee Gees, Earth, Wind, and Fire, etc. in peaceful late night jogs
Jay Hong:
R&B and Soul (boujee tastes 💸)
Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, Steve Lacy, Khali Uchis, etc.
He has similar tastes to Daniel as well, and recommends Daniel tunes that provides relaxation and chill vibes.
The both of them would sometimes sit together during classroom break, and Jay would share one of his Airpods with Daniel. He’ll play songs that he thought that Daniel might like while he helps him do homework.
Jay even tried to ask Duke if he could get a copy of the song that he and Daniel performed at the festival. It took Duke a while to understand what Jay was trying to say, but he did manage to send it to him at some point. Once he got the song, he secretly played it on repeat for over a month.
Mira Kim:
Pop, Alternative/Indie (But a lot of people don’t know that she’s interested in this genre. Many assumed that she’s into K-pop like Zoe, since they’re both close.)
Clairo, Mitski, Marina and the Diamonds, Halsey (Especially her Badlands Album), Melanie Martinez, Lana Del Rey, etc.
Sometimes listens to R&B/Soul too (like NIKI, Justine Skye, Kiana Lede, etc.) whenever she chills on her bed
Whenever she studies in her room, she likes putting these songs on in the background to help her get in the zone
Zoe Park:
HUGE K-Pop fan
Other than BTS, she’s also a fan of other groups like NCT, ATEEZ, Stray Kids, ENHYPHEN, The Boyz, Blackpink, TWICE, Red Velvet, G-IDLE, LE SSERAFIM, STAYC, NewJeans, etc.
Also listens to older groups too and goes on a K-pop marathon late at night while doing homework with BIG BANG, Super Junior, INFINITE, VIXX, EXO, ToppDogg, iKON, etc.
She also loves listening to the older girl groups like 2NE1, Girl’s Generation, Wonder Girls, F(x), Girl’s Day, AOA, etc.
Eli Jang:
Eli likes to listen to bands such as Cigarettes After Sex, The Neighbourhood, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, etc.
Loves the cool vibes of these Alternative/Indie bands with a hint of low sensuality to them.
He’s also interested in listening to artists like Chase Atlantic.
But of course, he doesn’t listen to these songs around Yenna. He doesn’t want her to acquire such vulgar words, and he doesn’t want to ruin her innocence. (Listening to these types of songs was like a guilty pleasure for Eli.)
Vin Jin:
Vin Jin listens to rap artists that inspire him and his style in rapping and hip-hop
Listens to K-Rap by Flowsik, ZICO, DPR LIVE, Jay Park, Dok-2, Simon Dominic, Dumbfoundead, etc.
His celebrity crush is Jessi and he’s a major fanboy if he ever sees her in person
Wants to reach international levels of Asian rap, like Rich Brian’s level someday, who’s a part of 88rising
Mary Kim:
Mary mostly listens to female rap artists that give off BBE ✨
She LOVES Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Saweetie, Lizzo, Doja Cat, etc.
Also listens to badass female K-rappers like CL, Jessi, HyunA, Lisa from Blackpink, etc.
Sometimes, she even listens to other artists like Audrey Nuna, REI AMI, BIBI, etc.
Johan Seong:
Listens to edgy rock bands (post-hardcore, metalcore, and punk) 💀
Consists of Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, Bring me the Horizon, I Prevail, Of Mice & Men, Breaking Benjamin, etc.
On nights when he walks his dog Eden, he likes listening to bands such as Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, etc. (Edgy bands that give off low vibes.)
His fav song is Take me to Church by Hozier, even though it isn’t even close to punk.
Since Zack is a fan of hip-hop, he discovered darker hip-hop genres one day and he thought of Johan while listening to them. He then recommended Johan to listen to Hip-Hop Punk Rap and Horrorcore Trap Metal. Mostly artists like Suicide Boys, Freddie Dredd, and even CORPSE.
Johan digged the song reccs that Zack offered, and now he goes to him for more artists to listen to.
Jake Kim:
Jake is into love songs by Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, even Big Time Rush. (Similar to Vasco’s tastes)
He also enjoys listening to R&B and Soul music by Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Usher, Ne-Yo, etc.
Sometimes when he’s home alone, he’d sing in front of the mirror while pretending to serenade someone by smoothing out his hair seductively, blasting these songs all night.
I like to believe that this man got a good voice, so of course, he’ll nail these songs if you take him to karaoke.
Samuel Seo:
R&B and Trap Soul is his way to cope
Certain nights when he likes to feel sexy while standing naked in front of the window to his condo, he blasts music by Jeremih, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Tory Lanez, Bryson Tiller, Trey Songz, etc. (similar to Gun’s type of music but thank god he doesn’t know that they have similar tastes in music)
When he feels low in spirit, he drinks to songs that are relatable to him and has the same vibe as his mood like 6lack - PRBLMS, SZA, The Weeknd, Travis Scott - Power is Power, blackbear - do re mi, Russ - Overdue, etc.
Samuel listens to these types of songs on occasion though, and doesn’t have time to sit down and actually listen to them since he’s always been so busy with work.
Gun Park:
Similar to Jay Hong’s taste in music, he got “expensive” tastes in music as well ✨
Late at night while drinking alone, he likes listening to sensual R&B. (Some days, The Weeknd, Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, etc.)
During his workouts, he enjoys listening to rap and hip-hop from artists such as, 21 Savage, Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Denzel Curry, etc. (Songs that get his blood pumping, while working out.)
Sometimes, he also listens to K-Chill R&B artists, like DEAN, Sik-k, Crush, DPR LIVE, Jay Park, etc. whenever he goes out on late night drives in an expensive car.
Gun HATES the music that Goo puts on whenever he’s driving themselves to any destination. He gets annoyed whenever Goo takes the AUX chord and plays weird songs from “sus” artists such as DBangz, Lil Boom, and sometimes Yung Gravy.
Gun punched Goo one time when he started blasting “Thick ****** and Anime Tiddies”. Gun would yell at him saying, “What is this trash?!” and the fight would eventually escalate to another one of their side-of-the-road brawls
Goo Kim:
This man’s taste in music is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Just chaotic.
Although, he has some shared music tastes with Gun. (Mostly similar tastes in Hip-Hop songs.)
He enjoys listening to fun and bouncy music, that goes with his moods really well (Pop or hip-hop, it doesn’t matter to him. Just no country music. He, “can’t stand that shit.”)
On days when Gun is annoyed with Goo, he’ll intentionally play country music just to annoy Goo just to get back at him, while going on long drives anywhere. Goo would eventually punch Gun on the arm, almost causing the car to swerve, until Gun decides to pull the car to the side of the road and fight him then and there.
LOVES listening to very weird, unhinged music. Mostly by artists like Yung Gravy, Bbno$, Lil Boom, Dbangz, etc. (probably even Pink Guy)
Goo is a big fan of Tyler the Creator, since he’s also a big goofy guy who doesn’t care about anyone else but himself and making money (through his music). Not only does he like his unique style and music, but he finds him very admirable for not caring about people’s thoughts on him, no matter what type of outrageous or unusual things he says.
He definitely enjoys listening to popular anime OPs and OSTs from anime that he liked when he’s at home.
DG:
DG doesn’t have a preferred taste in music, but he enjoys music outside of his own demographic.
Since he always listens to K-pop 24/7 (because of his job), he doesn’t mind listening to other types of music as well, and seeks out for new music to listen to.
He is very open-minded. Some days, he’ll listen to American Hip-hop or Rock (Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, etc.) and other days he’ll listen to Latin Trap. (Farruko, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, etc.)
During his trips overseas, he’ll listen to traditional Japanese instrumentals to relax while riding in his private jet. The music would often lull him to sleep, as it is calm and perfect for someone who’s constantly busy.
Eugene:
🎼 Likes listening to classical music while reading a book, or doing paperwork. (Mostly dark academia classical music.)
Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Franz Liszt, etc. makes him focus and concentrate.
Also, he’s an enthusiast of the historical American “Jazz Age”, which was music from the 1920’s. (But his interest in jazz is not limited to just that era. He likes jazz all the way to the current jazz of today.) 🎷
Eugene has exquisite tastes in music. Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and Chet Baker, gives him comfort and puts him at ease.
He collects vinyl records of these famous artists, and likes listening to jazz music while sipping on a cup of tea or coffee, admiring the sweet tunes of the Roaring Twenties while looking out the window from his office.
Not only does he like classical, and jazz music, but he’s also interested in Traditional Pop. (The forefathers who started pop and got famous in Las Vegas shows.)
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Paul Anka, etc. puts him in a very festive mood, especially while sitting in his office while putting together a blueprint of his devious plans.

Happy 14th anniversary to the absolute legends that are 2NE1!
It's been fourteen years since CL, Dara, Minzy and Bom first stepped on stage together and proceeded to change the world forever.
They broke about every single stereotype of K-pop, experimented with their sound, fashion, had the most amazing stage presence, and did so much to expand girl group styles in the Korean music industry and became one of the leading figures of the Korean wave.
Their second single, I Don't Care, was named Song of the Year at the MAMAs, making 2NE1 the first idol group to receive a daesang (grand prize) in their debut year. Their New Evolution Global Tour is considered the first ever K-pop girl group world tour since it visited eleven cities in seven countries in Asia and North America in 2012, and their show at the Prudential Center in New Jersey was named the second best concert of the year by The New York Times.
Their second full album, Crush, released in 2014, was the first album by a Korean artist to break into the top 100 of the US Billboard 200 (debuting at number 61) and remained the highest charting Korean album for over two years.
In April 2022, 2NE1 performed for the first time since their disbandment at the Coachella festival as a surprise reunion, which was named by several publications as one of the year's best performances at the festival.
The group has sold 66 million records worldwide which makes them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time.
I've been with them for over a decade, through highs and lows, and I can safely say they will always be my number one. It has been a bit hard listening to their music after disbandment, but it's gotten easier over the years.
Happy anniversary you absolute legends 🎉🎈🎊

🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧      ANALISE was a soloist under FLOWERBANK Entertainment. She was once a member of ALLUME's THIRD GENERATION as their main vocalist and center. Once graduating the group in 2015, Analise would go on to have a prolific solo career and was on the rise to being the top-performing soloist under Flowerbank. Tragically, just three years after her solo debut in 2019, she passed away in hospital due to unknown reasons. In 2021, sasaengs of the late singer would go on to reveal she died of a drug overdose in an attempt to tarnish her name even after death.
TW // DEATH, CHILD EXPLOTATION, ONLINE HARASSMENT, AND DRUG OVERDOSE.
Tumblr media
🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧     CHAPTER   ONE.     ──     HUMBLE   BEGINNINGS.
Analise Yan was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 21st, 1997 to an Irish-American mother and a Chinese father. Her mother was a set designer and her father was a talent manager. Analise has no memories of her life without a camera in her face, her first memory being of her on the early 2000's sitcom "Our House" when she was just three years old. She had a very successful acting career, becoming a silver-screen darling before age ten. She scored multiple TV show roles, direct to VHS/DVD movie roles, and began a music career.
Her music career was primarily targeted towards children her own age, performing on the Disney channel and having her music videos showcased on Nickelodeon. In 2007 at just ten years old, she starred in the popular and now classic Nick TV show iCarly as the character "Melody" who acted as Carly and Spencer's youngest sister.
Her run on iCarly was shortlived as in the second season in 2008, she would leave the show due to unknown reasons and would disappear from the American entertainment industry for good.
🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧     CHAPTER   TWO.     ──     THRID  GENERATION.
After she vanished from the American limelight, Analise shocked many by appearing in the Korean Pop Scene. At just 13 years old, she debuted in the third generation of ALLUME. During their debut ceremony, Analise revealed she had begun training in 2008 after leaving iCarly. She also would say she was a big fan of f(x), 2NE1, and Wonder Girls and they inspired her to take up Flowerbank's offer to begin training for the third generation of Allume.
Though showing exceptional talent at just 13 in singing and dancing, she was heavily scrutinized by netizens for a multitude of reasons. From her mixed heritage to her "annoying" persona, she seemed to be the target of online harassment. The harassment continued off-screen as well, often being yelled at by fans of the other members to "get out of the way" or having marriage proposals shouted at her.
Despite having a hate train against her, she remained one of the most popular members during her run in Allume many comparing her to the likes of Jung Krystal or Bae Suzy in terms of icon status and notoriety. She's easily considered one of the most widely-known idols in South Korea in the 2010s.
🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧     CHAPTER   THREE.     ──     SOLOISMS  .
After her graduation from Allume in 2015, she instantly began her highly anticipated solo career. She debuted solo just a month after her graduation with the mini album "Graduation" with the promotional track "I'm Shy" which became an instant chart-topper and K-pop classic.
The success of her debut would be repeated with each comeback, growing in fame and popularity with every performance she gave. In every sense of the word, Analise was a star. You could not walk down the street without seeing her face or hearing her music.
She picked up acting again in 2016, acting in her first major movie role in "The Train to Busan" to major success. She also starred in "My Annoying Brother" and made her drama debut in "Love In Our Hands" as the lead actress. Her acting was highly praised, with many saying Analise is the perfect all-rounder and can do anything she sets her mind to.
Throughout her musical career, she had six mini-albums, seven singles, and three full albums. You can find her discography on the Flowerbank Website (WIP).
🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧     CHAPTER   FOUR.     ──     THE  CONCLUSION.
In the early morning of June 15th, just two weeks after announcing her third full album, news broke that an unnamed idol had been rushed to the hospital via ambulance under mysterious circumstances. This news sent social media into a frenzy as people attempted to uncover the identity of the idol and the nature of the incident.
For about three hours, netizens engaged in wild speculation, tossing around various names in an attempt to solve the mystery. Eventually, the Seoul police department stepped in, issuing a statement that identified the hospitalized idol as Analise Yan, who was in critical condition. However, the specific reason for Analise's hospitalization was never disclosed due to "personal reasons," a detail that sasaeng fans did not respect.
Sasaeng fans began making numerous harassing calls to various hospitals in an effort to uncover the truth behind Analise's condition. This prompted the police to issue another statement, warning of legal consequences for anyone who continued to pester hospitals for information.
Finally, after five hours of intense speculation and uncertainty, Flowerbank Entertainment released a statement on behalf of Analise.
"Hello, We are Flowerbank Entertainment, During the early hours of the morning, our beloved artist, Analise, required immediate medical attention and was transported to the hospital under urgent circumstances. To safeguard her privacy and well-being, we must emphasize that the specific reasons for her hospitalization will not be disclosed. We are committed to taking legal actions against any attempts to breach her privacy. At this moment, Analise's condition remains critical. Regrettably, we are unable to provide additional details. We kindly request your heartfelt thoughts and prayers for Analise as she faces this challenging period. Your unwavering love and support are deeply appreciated. With gratitude, The Flowerbank Entertainment Team"
Tragically, on June 18th Analise passed away in the hospital after three days in the hospital. There are still little to no details about her final days in the hospital. Flowerbank would release a statement around three hours after she passed
"Hello, This is Flowerbank Entertainment, It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we must share the devastating news. Our beloved artist, Analise, has passed away at the hospital. Analise fought valiantly during her time in the hospital, but despite the best efforts of the medical team, her condition became insurmountable. She departed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. We extend our deepest condolences to Analise's family, friends, and all those who cherished her and her artistry. This is an immense loss, not only to Flowerbank Entertainment but to the entire entertainment community. Analise's memory will forever live on through her music and the impact she made on the world. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. In memory of our dear Analise, The Flowerbank Entertainment Team"
Analise's funeral, against the wishes of her family and loved ones, was very publicized. The entire industry mourned the beloved child star turned superstar, all of her co-workers, co-stars, and labelmates attending her funeral as well as other notable celebrities. Hundreds of fans gathered to pay their respects at various balloon-releasing ceremonies and fans held memorial services.
Flowerbank would create a memorial site for Analise in their building for fans to mourn her, leave letters and flowers for her, and celebrate her as an artist. The memorial site is still up in their museum.
At her personal request, Analise was buried at Yeongnak Park in Busan, South Korea, and is where she currently rests.
🩰𓈒 ⋆ ⑅ ˚ ₊ ୨୧     CHAPTER   FIVE.     ──     LIFE  AFTER DEATH.
Even in her passing, Analise continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Flowerbank Entertainment and the broader K-pop community. Her posthumously released third album not only climbed to the top of the digital charts but also sold an impressive 1.5 million copies, solidifying its status as one of Flowerbank's best-selling soloist albums.
The title tracks from the albums "New" and "One Chance" enjoyed a remarkable ten-month reign atop the Goan charts before gradually descending from the top ten. Meanwhile, the B-side track "My Sky" maintained its chart-topping position for an impressive seven months. Furthermore, all the associated music videos garnered over ten million views within just one week, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Every year, Flowerbank Entertainment commemorates Analise's birthday on their social media platforms, as well as the day she departed this world, ensuring that her memory lives on and reminding the world of the star she was.
However, in 2021, despite her enduring popularity, there were those who sought to tarnish her legacy by leaking her hospital records, which revealed the tragic truth that she had succumbed to a drug overdose. This revelation answered the long-standing question surrounding her passing. Flowerbank Entertainment promptly took legal action against the individuals responsible for the leak, who have since refrained from posting online.
Nevertheless, despite these efforts to sully her image, Analise remains an artist who is adored and cherished by countless fans.

Have you ever got into any girl groups in kpop (new / old anything) ?
I do listen to kpop gg songs, but without any sort of commitment or a desire to get into it. Most of my playlist is a result of what I hear on music shows, end of the year shows, spotify playlists. My list has (G)I-DLE, Le Sserafim, NewJeans, IVE, Blackpink, Viviz, T-ARA, Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, 2NE1, etc.
But don't ask me basic details such as member names, albums, chronology and so on because I wouldn't be able to answer. Same with some other boy groups. I just listen to whatever sounds good for me based on mood and that's pretty much it.

Kpop Girl Group 101: Everything You Need to Know
Tumblr media
1. Back To The Beginning - It’s impossible to talk about girl groups without mentioning the history of girl groups in South Korea. In the 1990s, the boy group trend really started to take off in South Korea, just like it had in the West. As early as the late 1980s, boy groups had started appearing on the scene. However, the first true girl groups wouldn’t be formed until the late 1990s, when the girl groups S.E.S (”I’m Your Girl”, “Dreams Come True”), Baby V.O.X (”Coincidence”, “Get Up”), and Fin.K.L. (”To My Boyfriend”, “Forever Love”) would start competing against an almost all-male industry (save for soloists such as BoA and some sister duos). These groups, along with many other smaller girl groups, would make up what is now known as the first generation of Kpop, and would pave the way for the second generation to burst onto the scene and ride the Hallyu wave while making girl groups a staple of the Kpop world. You know the groups of the second generation even if you aren’t a fan: Girls Generation became the nation’s girl group with their groundbreaking sweet debut, “Into the New World” while 2NE1 challenged the music scene and girl group stereotypes with “Fire” and the Wonder Girls brought the sassy, classic American girl group style to South Korea with “Irony.” Did you know that Girls Generation was the first group to include photocards in their albums, or that Wonder Girls was the first girl group to appear on American TV? These iconic groups truly made Kpop what it is today as they smashed through barriers, changed the industry, and became the idols that future idols would look up to and aspire to become.
2. Generations - I’ve already talked about the first generation, but what does it all mean? Well, honestly the exact generations are hard to keep track of. Usually, a generation ends and another begins at a turning point in the industry. For example, the second generation began with the Hallyu wave and Kpop becoming more commercialized. More and more idols also became actors and started hosting/guesting on shows. This was the period that I believe saw the most change, as more and more girl groups began to debut and some English translations started to be available. Other iconic second generation groups include KARA, T-ara, SISTAR, f(x), After School, Miss A, 4Minute, Girls Day, and many, many more. As we began to get into the 2010s, subtitles started to become more and more common as more and more fans started finding Kpop through YouTube and other similar platforms, starting the third generation of Kpop girl groups. And man, this generation burst onto the scene. Girl groups from this generation include giants such as Twice, BlackPink, Red Velvet, AOA, GFRIEND, EXID, Dreamcatcher, CLC, Oh My Girl, Mamamoo, WJSN, and so, so many more. And finally, we have now arrived at the fourth generation, a generation where even small groups under small companies can gain a world-wide fanbase, world tours are becoming more common, and dances have become intricate and all-important. Groups in the current generation include ITZY, IVE, Billie, AESPA, StayC, Everglow, Weeekly, Kep1er, and the list once again goes on and on. Of course, there are some groups who fall in-between generations, like LOONA. Some of the members debuted during what many consider to be 3rd gen, while other members and the group as a whole debuted after the start of the 4th generation. I point this out to say that generations aren't super strict and mostly exist to show the progression of Kpop as a whole. The list of girl groups only grows by the day and it can get pretty overwhelming (even for a self-proclaimed girl group expert such as myself). But don’t worry, I have that covered too! If you want to get a better understanding of the different generations, I have playlists linked below that you can use.
              💕 1st Gen  💕  2nd Gen  💕  3rd Gen 💕 4th Gen  💕
3. “Where do I start?” - Every time I want to get someone into girl groups (or Kpop in general) they’re always daunted by the sheer amount of music and groups to chose from. But I say this is a good thing rather than a bad thing. The amount of choices means that everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. But where should you start? Well, I always recommend starting at the beginning with a group like Girls Generation. You can never go wrong with a little Gee or Oh! I would also recommend 4Minute’s “Watcha Doin’ Today”, 2NE1′s “Gotta Be You”, Twice’s “Fancy”, Red Velvet’s “Peek-A-Boo”, fromis_9′s “DKDK”, StayC’s “Run 2 You”, and GFRIEND’s “MAGO” to girl group newbies. There’s also no shame in watching compilation videos: that’s how I found new groups as a young fan myself. I would recommend videos like “kpop girl group songs that were a cultural reset” or “Kpop parts that hit the right spots (girl group edition)” or “women in kpop being iconic” to find new songs or groups and go from there. These videos are also nice because you can fall into a YouTube rabbit hole and find a lot of new songs and groups that way! I would also recommend watching these groups on reality shows like Knowing Brother, Weekly Idol, and other similar shows where they showcase their skills and talk more about their groups and their talents. This is a great way to learn more about groups once you decide you’re interested in them.
4. Genres, genres, genres - Occasionally, I will see people claim that they don't like girl groups because they all "act cute" or because they all sound the same, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, there are so many groups with so many different sounds and concepts that it's impossible not to find something you'll like. Do you like rock or horror? Then you should check out PIXY, Dreamcatcher, Pink Fantasy, and Rolling Quartz! Do you listen to a lot of boy groups? Then you’ll probably enjoy tracks by 3YE, Everglow, and LOONA. Are you looking for something unique? Check out Orange Caramel, Billie, WJSN Chocome, HYO, Crayon Pop, and Cocosori. No matter what mood you’re in, there’s a girl group song that will fit it. Plus, a little bubblegum pop will do wonders for a bad mood. Try to listen to WiFi by Saturday and not smile a bit! Most groups will have a variety of songs as well, so you won’t get bored. For example, just listening to Red Velvet and Twice’s discography is an adventure because they’ve done so much. If you really aren’t sure where you want to start or what you might like, you could always message this blog: I might be busy, but I’m never too busy to help people get into girl groups!
5. The Future - While there has been an unfortunate period of girl groups from smaller companies struggling or disbanding due to the pandemic, the future still looks VERY bright for girl groups. While older girl groups used to debut and disband quickly without anyone noticing because it wasn’t as easy to promote themselves online, now even small girl groups from tiny companies can build a following online and promote themselves to a wider audience. While I personally don’t love some of the music trends we’re seeing right now, I am super excited to see where this new generation takes Kpop. I believe we’ll see more and more groups with fun, bright, self-confident concepts and I love that. With the sheer amount of content now available on YouTube, TikTok, Viki, and even Netflix, it’s the perfect time to dive head-first into the world of girl groups and girl group music. I think you’ll find that you’ll really love it here, and I hope you found my little lesson helpful!

Two random questions!!
1. Feelings on 2ne1’s “I Love You”? I think it’s in the vein of love island pop you’ve been talking about!!
2. Favorite song from Somi’s new mini album? I’ve been so happy bc there are some awesome dance songs in the bsides too !!!
I am actually so uneducated on 2nd gen kpop its crazy - like i love snsd, shinee, and f(x) but in terms of literally everyone else i am so clueless, so i loveeee recs for 2nd gen!!
I have actually never heard 'I love you' by 2ne1 before today, but from first impressions, i think its a really cool song. it places a lot of emphasis in the prechoruses and the verses just as much as the chorus, which is very unexpected as a lot of modern kpop songs are quite top heavy in that the chorus is the only attention grabbing part. I really like that, and the melodies are super timeless too. the production is really cool too - ive been thinking a lot about how repetitive the retro trend was a couple years ago, and how everyone just used the weeknd's synth sample pack and called it a day, but this song is honestly more 80s than pretty much anything else ive heard in kpop.
for it being in my dumbass 'love island pop' genre, im not actually sure. I think a lot of the elements are there, like fun but not overcomplicated vocal melodies, repeated lyric motifs, synths with rising tension, but i think the crux of why i dont think its love island pop is because imo its more 80s synthpop than 00s/10s EDM/house. And its funny bc i can see exactly where ive been misleading lol. Somi's 'fast forward' does absolutely have retro influences, but what i think makes it love island pop is the chorus referencing the EDM songs that the USA had stopped doing half a decade ago. I'll deffo do a playlist post and define this genre properly lol
ANYWAY, for what my favourite song on somi's new mini album. I really dont like 'gold gold gold', i just KNOW teddy pulled this one out of the rejected lisa solos hard-drive. Its just so unredeemable? Obviously I love 'fast forward', which is apparently a hot take, but genuinely i cant get enough of this song, there is not a dull moment ITS SO GOOD. 'Fxxked' is honestly quite love island pop too, its a super fun song, it fits somi so well. 'pisces' is like 'sour grapes' 2.0, its enjoyable, but a little bit less exciting in comparison to the other tracks. 'The way' is a through-and-through kpop retro song with a somi edge, its very fun. I still think 'fast forward' is my favourite off of the album, but 'The way' is probably my fave b-side, with 'fxxked' being a close contender.

Kpop Recap 2023!
Thank you @myrockstaryuta for tagging me!
Groups I started stanning: believe it or not I started stanning Ateez at the start of this year??? Its insane to think about. All the other groups I post and talk about, I’ve been with for years.
New Ult Bias?: nope, still a Shua girlie through and through - shocking all things considered (thanks Ateez)
Idol(s) who got the most of your simping?: lol all of Ateez 😂 I went THROUGH it with them, and still am…Yuta from NCT also had me simping way more this year too but he also deserves it so I don’t really regret it
Most streamed soloist?: probably Sunmi or Hyuna (I listen to “Im Not Cool” on repeat A LOT), Vernon and Woozi too bc of “Black Eye” and “Ruby”
Top K-pop songs of this year (Opinion or streaming, you choose): oh god where do I even start…
1. “I Am the Best” by 2NE1 (as usual)
2. “Don Quixote” by Seventeen
3. “Shadow” by Seventeen
4. “Bouncy” by Ateez
5. “To You” by Seventeen
6. “Fact Check” by NCT 127
7. “I’m Not Cool” by Hyuna
8. “Wave” by Ateez
9. “The Real - Heung Version” by Ateez
10. “Icky” by Kard
There’s a TON more I swear but I had to narrow it down
Top debut this year?: idk I’m not as connected with new groups…maybe DoJaeJung?
Choreographies you learned?: I learned the chorus coreo for “Bouncy” by Ateez but thats it…I really should learn more, I used to dance when I was younger and I’m really interested in kpop dances
Albums/ merchandise you bought?: two versions of Ateez’s “Crazy Form” album, one of Seventeen’s “God of Music” album, and NCT 127’s “Fact Check” album…all within two days…poor financial choices were made but it was WORTH IT!
New k-pop mutuals you’ve made?: all my new mutuals since returning to this blog fully; all my other mutuals have left 🥲 so shoutout to all y’all who I’m about to tag below!
(I’m also on the lookout for more mutuals ao if we stan any of the same groups, feel free to reach out!)
I now tag all my current mutuals: @irlkpop @goblinvern and @chanswifey ! (If I missed anyone I am SO SORRY!!!)

can you tell us a little more about autumn moon?
Tumblr media
AUTUMN MOON is a soloist under Flowerbank Entertainment. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1995, Autumn was the second child to two inattentive and abusive parents. Her older brother, August, acted as her primary caregiver. He managed to relocate them to South Korea in 2004 where they began living with their aunt.
In 2005, Autumn was scouted by YG Entertainment and began training under the label. After 5 years of training, she debuted as the maknae and lead vocalist of girl group 2NE1 in 2009. She stayed with the group until 2013 where it was announced she was no longer a part of the group and her contract with YG had been terminated. To this day, despite returning for every reunion the girls have had, Autumn has never given an official reason why she left the group and the label.
Autumn quickly moved on, being signed by Flowerbank Entertainment, an at the time new and unknown label. Autumn's solo career was an instant success due to her previous success in 2NE1. Due to her success, Flowerbank was able to grow into the company it is today with many calling Autumn the "Mother" of Flowerbank Entertainment.
In 2023, Autumn revealed to the public she has a ten-year-old son to the shock of many. In a lengthy Instagram post on her son's tenth birthday, she went on to explain she no longer wishes to keep this part of her life a secret and wishes to share her journey through motherhood with her fans. The public was stunned at how long she managed to keep her child under the radar but supported her after a brief period of backlash. Though there has been many theories and speculations, Autumn has never publically named the father of her son but has said they are in a healthy co-parenting relationship.
Autumn is known for her loud and outgoing sound, often making statements with her music and expressing her thoughts and feelings throughout her songs. Below is her full discography minus her features.

[NEWS] Former 2NE1 member Sandara Park will be making her long-awaited solo debut this July.
On June 14, several South Korean news outlets reported that Sandara Park would soon be returning to the music industry as a soloist. Later that day, a representative from Park’s current agency, Abyss Company, confirmed to Star News that she would be making a comeback in July.
“Sandara Park will make a comeback in the music industry as a solo artist in July. We ask for your understanding that we cannot reveal the specific [release] timing or form of the album yet,” shared the agency in a brief statement.
The upcoming release will be Park’s first music in over four years, since being featured on former bandmate Park Bom’s ‘Spring’ in 2019. While the singer had previously released a self-titled EP in the Philippines in 2005, prior to her debut in 2NE1, this will be her debut as a soloist in the K-pop industry.
Park debuted as one of four members of 2NE1 under YG Entertainment in 2009 with the single ‘Fire’. The quartet went on to become one of the most successful girl groups, spawning hits like ‘I Am The Best’, ‘Ugly’, ‘I Don’t Care’ and more.
Following the girl group’s disbandment in 2016, Park furthered her career as an actress and television host, starring in films like One Step and Cheese in the Trap. She also went on to host reality and talk show programmes like Video Star, Idol League and Get It Beauty.
In 2021, Park left longtime agency YG Entertainment and signed with Abyss Company, which is currently home to artists like Sunmi, GOT7’s BamBam and Melomance.

remember when whygee said he will let epik high have artistic freedom and then forced a different title track on them. or would meddle with taeyang's album tracklist to the point he got flustrated. then he would time 2ne1's comeback to collide with śnsd. or mediaplay about their new song with 'my wife cried when she first heard it'. s word would make his albums in one week with seemingly 0 interferance from whygee. and he would make groups do tours without releasing any new material since tours are 🤑

I resisted most kpop and all kpop fandom for a very long time 😆
I got into visual kei in high school (2007 ish) and one of my online friends also listened to some. She got me into J dramas, from where I got into KAT-TUN in 2010. She also watched K dramas and listened to kpop and she sent me some, but not being able to sing along by ear or through romanized lyrics frustrated me since I'd been able to do that with Japanese since I first listened to anime openings and such in middle school. I did listen to some 2ne1 and Big Bang, but mainly Japanese releases since at that point I was studying Japanese and reaching conversational fluency.
After college she and I mostly fell out of touch, KAT-TUN had slowed down after losing a member in 2013 and then another later, LiveJournal got taken over by a Russian "news" company, so all my sources of music and drama torrents were gone, the two main VK bands I listened two took hiatuses or had record company issues (one came back, the other eventually broke up), and so I was back to mostly listening to top 40 radio.
At some point, I got suggested a "reacts to kpop" video on YouTube, and I was like, "I wonder if I'll even recognize and of these groups." The answer was no, I did not, but one if the songs was Blackpink's Whistle, and I was like, "damn, this song is fun," so I started listening to them. I still didnt keep up with anything beyond just their music (and still dont), but it got some kpop on my radar again.
Then I went to Holiday Matsuri in 2021 and went to the hottest men in anime show, which is a men's burlesque contest. The winning act performed to God's Menu and Lisa's Money, two bangers that I hadn't heard because I wasn't actively paying attention to new music. I went and looked them up and played a Spotify kpop playlist the whole 6 hours drive home to add new songs to my library, but I still didn't look up any groups. I continued like that for about a year, just liking individual songs. Then, around when Time Out came out, something made me look up the Stray Kids youtube. I had watched the God's Menu video that first night I heard the song, but I didn't watch anything else. I subscribed to the channel that time, but u still didn't dive into the music videos or add a bunch to my library. Its like part of my brain new I'd not crawl out of that hole and it wasn't the right time for it lol
Finally, late August of last year, I let myself watch the music videos and listen to full albums. Then I resisted any additional content outside of "making of" videos for another month (which is a while for a disabled person with nothing to do but consume content).
Now, here I am. Awash in the swamp. Watching Han and Chan and understanding nothing 🤣
Thankfully I had already planned to learn some Korean since its the third most common language where I live and I had started watching kdramas, but its hard! I still have some bias to Japanese releases for that reason 😆 but it does vary by song since some don't fit/match rhythmically to the Korean versions as nicely as others. Hopefully I'll get there with Korean. I have to remember I have decades of familiarity with the sounds and basics of Japanese compared to very little familiarity with Korean.
this is a wholeeee journey u did not take the easels to mordor lmao but omg i’m learning so much about how things were found in the 00’s and 10’s when i was content to go to warped tour and never be online lmao but this journey feels educational with all the stuff u were into! and ur bias for japanese releases is understandable especially jyp groups they just hit different so i can understand having spent all that time learning japanese and being into japanese culture would only add to the fondness for them! your will power to get into skz so slowly is amazing I don’t know if i’ve ever done such a good job of avoiding diving straight into something the second i found a part of it i liked, but alas we all end up in the skz swamp one way or another lmao

Hi 🪷,
This is not for you, but for the anon that talked about fans of BTS only (within K-pop I suppose). Hello😁, I currently have BTS as my peacemakers ad only band I am completely invested in.
The first ever k-pop bands I had heard were Girls Generation, 2NE1, Big Bang and ShinEE. They were catchy, good and to this day I listen to them, quite a lot. For example, The 7th Album, is one of my fav, I have it on repeat. Yet, my will to want to know more with any of the other bands, once I started, never stuck. For certain reasons (which I will touch on later) I didn’t feel the “need” to invest time in them. With ABSOLUTELY NO OFFENCE.
As you may or may not know, time IS MONEY. Time is the only quantity in life which we can’t control but is FUNDAMENTALLY important to our existence. So, years passed and I completely got into other things and when I say time, I mean at least a decade. Eventually, BTS got so loud, to a point where it got to my news feed without me even wanting it to and I thought “the fuck! Who cares about this Chinese boyband”.
Little did I know that a couple of years later THEY would have been the once worthy of my time. THEY, as they kept finding a way to sneak into my life, had the message I needed at the time. They literally were my fallen angels.
They gave me comfort. Hope. Struggle. Peace. War. Love. Hypocrisy. Problems. Solutions. Fake. REAL-REAL, etc., etc, etc….: they gave me HUMAN. They gave me: ME.
Because of them, I looked into TXT. They are a force.
Because of them, I looked into ENHYPHEN. They are something else.
Because of them, I looked into Mamamoo. I loooooove them.
Because of them, I looked into BlackPink. I respect the hell out of them.
Because of them I know about Stary Kids. I’m sooooo ready to dive into them.
Because of them I admire and respect Teamin. I knew ShinEE. But now I KNOW SHINEE, and TAEMIN IS JUST 👌🏾.
Thanks to them a whole world has opened and I am watching. Listening. Appreciating.
Still, FOR ME, what I needed, was for someone to reach out to me when I needed. I didn’t know this, but I did. And they did reach out.
Might have been their marketing. Might have been ARMY. Might have been SOMETHING ELSE. But WHATEVER IT WAS, held me and swam out WITH me while I was sinking. And THAT might have been just chance. But chance doesn’t move on it’s own. Something moved it. What? I have no clue but whatever it was, it was loud enough, that it reached me. Powerful enough that it helped me. And for that I will always be grateful.
So please don’t put every BTS fan in the same pile. For some, they ACTUALLY do provide us with what we need, and that is enough. We can appreciate other music. Like o tryst groups. Support anyone else, but still have BTS as a priority because they provide us with the right value and worth of our time. What is that value? I know what it is for me, so I can’t speak for others but be it deep or superficial, it is doing it for many. It is not a fault. It is what it is.
SO, for all the other bands, if what they TRULY WANT IS TO REACH OUT, if they got something to really prove, if all they got is what they got and want to go forth with it, they WILL FIND A WAY. Trust they will. More than money. More than love. More than Spite. More than power. HOPELESS HOPE, and effort, CAN and WILL find a way.
Sorry for the rant 🪷.
🫰💜💛
Opinions.
