Aaa it’s nothing, really, only a side project of the real Thiam sense8 au I’m trying to write. Basically it’s a Theo 2person pov about his first encounter with his uncle, the man who will raise him after his parents’ death. Only, he’s not a good person by a looong shot (he’s The Doctor, Dread Doctor for friends and enemies).

There’s a weird stranger at your parents’ funeral.

He wears a mask covering half of his face, but not a standard one, the one Scott’s mom wears sometimes. No, this mask it’s rigid, shaped, black. Four little holes up to the nose are maybe supposed to let the air in, and all in all you find him a bit… funny. But good kids don’t laugh at their parents’ funeral, so you look away before he can see you, and you go back to staring at the two identical coffins about to be buried. The knot of your tie is suffocating you.

The ceremony is done quickly, with the rush of a city who just want this to be over so they can forget about the tragedy of the Raeken family. Too bad you’re still alive to remind them.

The air is thick (shouldn’t it be raining?), full of pity (but not of grief), and you know very well who this useless compassion is for, so you’re careful to never make eye contact with anyone, not even when people start talking to you, telling you how sorry they are for your loss, how they’re here for you, you poor kid. They put a hand on your shoulder while they lie, and you hate it.

1983–2006: Childhood and early career

Mika was born in Beirut, the third of five children (three sisters Yasmine, Paloma and Zuleika and one brother Fortuné), to an American-born Lebanese mother and an Israeli-born American father, Mary Joan "Joannie" (née Mouakad, daughter of John Mouakad and Odette Farah) and Michael Holbrook Penniman (son of William Frederick Penniman III and Dorothy Dyar). His father was a banker[7][11] and was born in Jerusalem, where his own father – Mika's paternal grandfather William Frederick Penniman III – was a diplomat.[11][12] Mika's maternal grandfather John Mouakad was Syrian (from Damascus).[13][14]

When Mika was a year old, his family was forced to leave war-torn Lebanon and moved to Paris, France.[12][15] The first piano piece he learned to play was "Les Champs-Élysées", by Joe Dassin.[12] At the age of 7, he wrote his first song, a piano instrumental called "Angry", which he describes as "awful".[7] The family moved to London when he was 9 years old. There, he attended the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, where he experienced severe bullying. He also had problems with dyslexia. In response to these experiences Mika was home-schooled by his mother at the age of 12, for six to eight months.[7] He then attended St Philip's School in Kensington, where he was the head of the Schola Cantorum (the St. Philip's Choir). Later he attended Westminster School and the Royal College of Music, which he left to record his first album at Casablanca Records.[16] As a child Mika was trained by Alla Ardakov (Ablaberdyeva), a Russian opera professional.

Mika's first single was a limited 7"/download release called "Relax, Take It Easy" (2006). It was play-listed by UK's BBC Radio 1 and was made Record of the Week by DJ Scott Mills. The Dodgy Holiday EP also became available for download. The song "Billy Brown" was available for free download for a week from the iTunes Store. A song titled 'Over-rated', which was recorded in 2004, was "unofficially" released online. His debut radio appearance was on Dermot O'Leary's BBC Radio 2 show in September 2006.

idk i'm going camping for the first time since i left my parents' house (not counting the situation at the sleepaway camp i volunteered with for a few years), on my first road trip with multiple people who are not family (previously it was only 2person trips with non-family folks, or otherwise was with family somehow). i'm excited but my body has decided to collapse in on itself in a sudden fit of pique over the audacity i had in using it at all, so we're...gonna just figure it out.

i'm...there is an emotion inside of me i cannot name and it is not good but it's not bad? unless it is. i don't know, it's difficult to explain but i know i'm not feeling *amazing* and i hate that.

I haven't sent anything to my dad at all, and perhaps that's more what it is than anything - that having written my grievances at all, I have a fear that i've sent it to him already and i am waiting on his response. But i haven't sent anything yet, i'm not even close to ready to - i gotta...there's steps, you see. i gotta do things. and those things require work and effort and time and i am very tired right now.

I'm gonna go back to worrying that i have forgotten something important for the camping trip, lol. that's at least more fun and i can do something about it if i did forget anything.
