Every day of the month has an assigned prompt. The real challenge is to try and create something new for each day and each prompt.

But, of course, that is an ambitious goal! There are easier options.

create only one thing, or two, or three

only create something for two or three of these prompts

create something for a prompt but post it a few days later

don’t follow the prompts at all

...you’re still participating —as long as your creation is about Louis de Pointe du Lac, as portrayed by Jacob Anderson.

And Louis's character exists in relation with others, of course! So your contribution could be a portrait of the entire du Lac family, a playlist about one of his romantic relationships, a comic about his relationship with Claudia from her point of view, etc.

If Louis is at the heart of your creation, then your piece is in the spirit of this event.

This challenge isn’t limited to fanfiction or fanart!

Your contributions as a fan don’t have to be restricted to the most usual mediums. Beyond fanfic and fanart, some things that you may decide to create include: fanmixes, moodboards, gifsets, photomanips and graphics; fanedits and AMVs; meta and analysis in written, audio or video form; poetry, music, a blog post about your headcanons, your meta, or your favorite fanworks; and anything else you can think of.

Your creations can be related to your own or others’ existing work as well —if, for example, you want to use one of the prompts to add to an existing fanfiction series, or as inspiration for fanart of your favorite fic, that’s totally within the scope of this challenge!

You can start working on your creations for this challenge with as much (or as little) anticipation as you like, but remember to hold off from sharing them until the event starts. And, if you are taking inspiration from a prompt, we encourage you to share your work on that day.

HAPPY FIRST OF OCTOBER!

The spooky month is upon us! We have a few exciting events coming up this month, for those who love fall and Halloween. And we have some fun tasks to help get you in the spirit. But mostly, we wanted to touch base on some rules and updates and get everything to where it needs to be for the month ahead. Let's go!

HAPPENING IN OCTOBER!

SHELTER APPECIATION WEEKEND (October 6 - 9): join us at the Animal Sanctuary to donate goods and food for pets, or to adopt your very own best friend!

HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE (October 28; ooc 24-30): the Benefactor has lent us a mansion for the night. Come dressed in formal wear (and a mask!), and feel free to add touches of Halloween. Adults only!

HALLOWEEN NIGHT (October 31): head to the Community Center to chaperone the party for the kids, or gather up a group of kids and take them trick-or-treating! (This is also the night to post your costume.)

OCTOBER'S MINI-EVENTS!

October 1 -- Coffee Day: start a coffee chain at Cobblestone and keep paying for the person behind you.

October 4 -- Cinnamon Roll Day: a fun day to send a cinnamon roll to, well, your favorite cinnamon roll!

EXTRA BIT OF FUN!

We are running our "four photos of fall" task for the month of October! This should be a fun one, as it's sort of moodboard ish, but easy to do, the only challenge is that you may not use any photos of your face claim (stock photos of people are okay). Can be done all October, but does not count for activity -- please do not rush, save it for some downtime. If you have not already had a chance to do our previous Halloween-related task, you can find it here, and we will also allow that to be done during the month of October!

IMPORTANT NOTES!

please take a moment to refamiliarize yourself with our rules, as we have made a few changes to reflect activity now that we are back on schedule with checks, as well as cleaned up & tweaked things.

another gentle reminder, as we know this isn't a rule everywhere, but please do not 'mass post' finished replies -- if you must work ahead, stagger them in a queue a few minutes apart, but otherwise dash can become super hard to navigate, and overwhelming. especially now when activity notifications are unreliable, and people are drafting replies off of dash as they come in. it becomes easy to lose things in a large batch posted all within a few seconds!

speaking of: notifs are still a little messy. do what you need to do to track your activity! but please remember what we mentioned in the ooc: trackers are for your personal use, sharing where you are at with OOC contact, plotting, etc. is unnecessary and can put pressure on others. just keep 'em for you!

if you list a wanted connection or if you fill a wanted connection, please be communicative with one another and be sure that you are fulfilling your end of the bargain, so to speak! don't just pick up a WC to join, and then not write with that person, and on the other side, don't ignore someone who picks up your WC. we want to be sure everyone gets what they want from connections.

BEHIND THE SCENES!

we've decided to stick to our 20 cap, with 5 extra bonus spots once 20 is reached. those 5 spots must be filled by wanted connections only, although you're always encouraged to pick one up (especially as an existing writer).

moving forward, we will only allow writers to pause characters for one month, and they can only pause two at a time (unless there are extenuating circumstances). if you need longer than a month, you must contact us to ask for the extension.

oh! and November. we have candy day, world kindness day, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday for little things around town, with Kindness Weekend, the Railway 5K, and Thanksgiving happening, as well!

FAQ

When does the event begin?

The first day to post is October 1st, and it will run through the entire month, until Halloween (the 31st).

Where are all the prompts?

We’re releasing them a little at a time, so they don’t overwhelm you all at once and to give you a little something to anticipate ;) There should be a new batch of prompts posted every 5 days—so the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, and 23rd of September. The masterpost is here, to see the most recent update!

What can I make?

Anything that could be considered a fanwork. Fanfiction, artwork, gifsets, edits, moodboards, playlists… canon ships, reader inserts—so long as your creation features Eddie Munson, have at it!

How do I make sure you see my work?

Put @eddiemonth in the caption!

Is NSFW allowed?

Yes, so long as all characters involved are over 18. Just be sure to tag it with #eddiemonthafterdark, and put any explicit content under a read more. You may also consider using Tumblr’s community labels, and artists might prefer to host their art elsewhere. That’s perfectly fine!

What should I tag?

Use #eddiemonth, and if it’s NSFW, #eddiemonthafterdark. Do please make sure to properly tag individual ships as well, or x reader fic as #xreader, for people’s blocklists. We will also be tagging diligently, so anything that slips through the cracks should still be filtered out on this blog. We’re here to celebrate Eddie, not get into ship wars!

Do I have to do every single day?

Boy, what an undertaking that would be! No, you do not have to do all 31 prompts this October, unless you enjoy the sort of challenge that provides. You can pick and choose which prompts you are most inspired by, do every other day, one per week—it’s up to you!

Can I use a prompt, song, or trait on its own, or do I have to use all 3 at once?

You can pick and choose which you take inspiration from! We tried to coordinate the tone of each so they can be used in tandem, but if you don’t like the feel of one or another you’re welcome to omit any part and just use whatever you are most inclined to.

Are late works accepted?

Yes, no need to worry about lateness, we’ll keep checking back a couple weeks after the event is over!

Is there an AO3 collection?

Yes, here it is! If you need help posting your work to it, we have a tutorial here. You’re welcome to post your works to it, but it is in no way required.

Is there a playlist of every song?

We’ve got one we’ll be adding to as the prompts come out, here!

PoliZ’s WIP Update - 11 Oct 2023

A less-than average week as Real Life took center stage. I touched 3 fics (2 WIPs & 1 new works) for a total of 1954 words.

I have 18 semi-active WIPs 😬 with my current deadlines being the Sam Wilson Bingo that wraps on Oct 15, the Halloween Horror Bingo and the the Fictober/ Flufftober/ Whumptober prompt challenges that all wrap at the end of the month.

See below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc. As always, feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects or any other WIPs I’ve got out there. Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing Morguna and the Green Queen, I got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked Faustie into collab’ing with me! We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve contributed about 900 words towards the 2500-ish we have so far. Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

Sam Wilson Bingo [SWB_R3] (Ends 15 Oct 2023)

I have eight fills and zero WIPs - targeting a Column G bingo and perhaps one more fill before the bingo wraps up.

* B4 - Natasha Romanoff - Maybe add on to my Card Sharks drabble, where SamNat & Steve conspire to create a polycule with Bucky? This idea crosses over nicely with my BBB KINK: Seduction mission square and maybe I can squish a Fictober or Flufftober prompt in here.

* G2 - Teacher/Teacher AU - Posted Lessons Learned on Monday - a No Powers AU FalconHawk meet (mostly) cute ficlet that crossed over with Flufftober Day 9 “: "I wouldn't do that if I were you.” and came in at 414 words.

* G4 - Adopting a Pet - posted a moodboard for this where Joaquin brings a stray cat home and Sam and Bucky (pretend to) disapprove. Shout out to @hannahshattuck3121 for the assist on the Joaquin pics!

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.

* B1 - Dealing with Extreme Cold - seems like a good match with my BBB Cold and or SVB Last Resort square along with Whumptober: Thermometer & Fictober "It's not too late, let's go."

* ALT1 - There’s something under the bed - Finished up A Hairy Situation - WinterHawk Werewolf AU that’s coming in at a nice, round 2200 words and crosses over with my BBB "This might as well happen" square. Targeting to post on Friday the 13th. 😁

Fictober/Flufftober/Whumptober - [FFWtober_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

I’m lumping these three prompt challenges together as I plan on mixing and matching with a goal of using at least four prompts from each list by the end of the month for a total of 12 prompts. I’m a little behind at only three used so far, but we’ll see what the rest of the month brings!

* Whumptober Day 2: Thermometer see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* Fictober Day 3: "Okay, show me." see SWB Joaquin Torres above.

* Flufftober Day 6. Corn Maze - posted An A-maze-ing Afternoon Together (fluffy IronStrange established relationship ficlet) on Friday. It crossed over with my TSB Tony/Stephen square and came in at 451 words.

* Fictober Day 9: "I wouldn't do that if I were you." See SWB Teacher/Teacher AU.

* Fictober Day 12: "I'm not saying I didn't like it." Wrote up a short Chapter 2 to Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning as a crossover with my TSB Pairing: Tony/Thor square. It came in at 567 words and will post on Thursday.

* Fictober Day 24: [melting emoji] - combine with TSB "Get back in bed!" Tony has a fever and won’t listen to his partner. Maybe throw in a little Whumptober too?

* Fictober Day 27: "I don't know if they will accept this." - This could be a fun combo with TSB T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots.

WinterIron Bingo - [WIB_R1] (Ends 16 Dec 2023)

I have sixteen fills completed and two WIPs for this brand-new bingo event that I’m helping mod! Along with crossfilling against my other bingos, I’m going to try to combine my B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes, Alpine loves Tony and Blind date. (Tony POV remix of A Sugar Coated Pill?)

* N1 - Bucharest – I think I can fold this into a future chapter of My Love is Vengeance - where a young!Tony and a recovering!Bucky have been kidnapped by Hydra, who still thinks Bucky is the Soldier.

* G2 - Eye contact during sex - This will come into play in Chapter 6 of A Sugar-Coated Pill, where Bucky figures out what making love really means, with Tony’s help. It’s crossing over with BBB KINK: Gentle Sex and is up to 830 words.

* G4 - AU: College Students – looking to expand Beaten to the Punch with some backstory on Bucky and Tony as science camp counselors to fit with this square - will also cross over with my WFB Volunteering Together square.

* O5 - Gentle – use this poem as inspiration?

Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1] (Ends 22 Dec)

Eleven fills, two WIPs and a couple of ideas.

* A1 - Harem - crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship - Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines - they love each other more than their lord. I poked at this a little for 71 words.

* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁 Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas.

* C3 - FREE - Need to find a good match for Chapter 2 of Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at 52 words. I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.

* C5 - Last Resort - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

I’ve got eleven fills, four WIPs, and a couple more Vague ideas.

* B2 - KINK: Seduction Mission - might add a new chapter to Card Sharks - where Sam/Natasha and Steve finish what they started to get Bucky onboard for a poly partnership.

* B5 - Cold - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* U1 - Never the fall that kills you - I’ve got a WinterIron hanahaki fic idea for this that I might play with or check against Whumptober prompts

* U3 - Fireplace - Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else. Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.

* C2 - Yelena Belova– The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

* K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

* Y1 - Gentle Sex – In-progress Chapter 6 of Sugar-Coated Pill- see WIB Eye Contact During Sex.

* Y3 - Alpine - see WIB Iron Soldier combo.

* Y4 - Forgotten Things - using this for Chapter 4 of You Can’t Stop It With a Gun - it’s sitting at 116 words at the moment.

* Y5 - "This might as well happen" - see HHB Alt1

* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.

* August Adopted: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved? Whumptober/Fictober possibilities as well.

I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.

JILYTOBER FEST

I proudly present to you, the JILYTOBER FEST!

There’d be LOTS of events, LOTS of themes, LOTS of challenges for this year’s jilytober.

I feel that it’s safe to say that this year, we have more people in the jily community than EVER! And naturally, it calls for a HUGE celebration for our favourite idiots in love’s month!

The form to apply for the challenges will be open till the 20th of September, so that I have ample time to give out the prompts and the writers and artists also have ample time to finish their prompts!

There’ll be 31 prompts for 31 days! I’ll be posting all the prompts by mid September. You don’t have to finish ALL the prompts. You don’t even need to post the work of the prompt on the day of the prompt. These prompts will just be helping you to get your creative wheels turning!

#Bookoween is back!

Given that a certain pandemic is making it really difficult to do traditional Halloween things like parties or trick-or-treating or, well, anything else, I thought this might be a good time to bring back my Halloween-themed booklr challenge from a couple years back. Think of it like trick-or-treating but with 100% more digital content!

I’m switching up a few things about it though, to keep things fresh for anyone who participated the last time. Re-vamp-ing the challenge, if you will. 🧛‍♀️

Essentially, this is going to run like every other monthly challenge—I post prompts, you post content—but I’m going to be scoring you, and then you’re going to “win” stuff based on what score you get. This year, I’m also adding a reading challenge because why not.

I’d like to think that the last Bookoween participants had a lot of fun. (I know I did.) Hopefully this will be at least as fun, if not better!

Rules and the Points System

1. Post something bookish for every prompt that inspires you (between October 1 and 31). This can be a photo, rant, book review, gifset, fancast, video, dramatic reading, etc. Get creative, have fun, and maybe challenge yourself a little. Every five posts, you’ll level up one Spook Factor.

1-4: bat 

5-9: ghost 

10-14: fairy 

15-19: ghoul 

20-24: vampire

 25-30: swamp monster 

31-34: demon

35+: sorcerer

2. You can earn more points by filling the extra challenges below! All points will be counted and then given back to you as candy—so yes, you will be Trick-or-Treating after all! Some challenges are general (like how many books you end up reading), some relate to types of posts, and some are odder. Bolded items can be counted multiple times, so one pet photo is good but three pets are better. Any post with the #bookoween hashtag will be checked against these challenges whether you try for them or not, and you do not have to work them into the prompt posts. Extra posts are allowed and even encouraged!

3. On the evening of October 31, spilling into November 1 as needed, everyone who’s posted for the challenge will receive an ask stating their Spook Factor and the results of their Trick-or-Treating. For every Trick you do, you’ll get either amusingly tragic backstory or trash-tier Halloween loot like toothbrushes. For every Treat, you get an unspecified amount of candy. Example: You are a swamp monster whose only friends were a troupe of singing frogs that made it big on the Muppet Show and never came home. You have one Mars bar, a bag of cotton candy, three bags of M&Ms, five Easter eggs, and two Bounty bars. 4. Post everything using the #bookoween hashtag or it’s not getting counted!

FAQs

Do I have to post on the day the prompt is for? Absolutely not! Have everything up by Halloween and you’re golden. 

Do I have to fill the Trick and Treat prompts? What happens if I avoid them? You don’t have to do them! You can absolutely craft your #bookoween without them! But then you won’t get candy and where’s the fun in that? The Tricks sound more fun than the Treats! Why are you trying to discourage me from doing them? Who said I was? You get a longer ask! And character depth! What if I Trick-or-Treat without the #bookoween hashtag? Then I will not see it and it will not be counted towards the ask. What if I manage to do all the prompts, all the Tricks, and all the Treats? Then you are amazing and should maybe spend less time online though we’re lucky to have you. Do you get something special? Undecided. Maybe.
