Record Store Day 2023 is fast approaching and I still haven't spun all my RSD Black Friday pickups! 😲 . I like what Ringo does. His catalog is a tad smaller than the other lads so he stocks his band with former members of other bands and turns it into a greatest hits collection of hits! See pic 3 for the songs performed on this tour. Men At Work, Toto, Average White Band, Santana, and of course Ringo's biggest songs! . I've been able to catch a couple iterations of Ringo's All Starr band, and hope to attend again. DNA - DNA ON DNA

2008 U.S. 2xLP Limited Edition Compilation on No More Records

DNA is a band with a fascinating and very weird history.

After forming in 1977, they became part of the “No-Wave” scene in New York in the late 70′s.

They were frequent performers at Max’s Kansas City, but only recorded one 7″ single (1978′s pretty hard to find and pricey You And You); which was produced by another one of my heroes, the late great Robert Quine. The band also had a handful of songs featured on the legendary No New York compilation.

This excellent compilation scrapes the DNA bowl completely clean.

37 tracks, all material transferred and mastered from the original source tapes, some of which were cassettes, and it is stated that those poor quality songs are included for historical relevance.

Along with the aforementioned 7″ single and compilation tracks, there are trifecta of songs that are only available on this vinyl collection: Pompeii, Shrinking Thing, and Drinking Water, as well as a pair of encores from DNA's final performance at CBGB's.

Just a fascinating oral history of one band’s existence during a very special time in New York City in the late 70′s.

A highly recommended collection.

“You can listen to music so easily in so many ways now. It’s become a sort of background to my daily activities. Regardless of what I’m doing, I’m somehow incorporating myself listening to music. When it comes to vinyl though, something about it makes me give the music more attention compared to any other way of listening to it. Something about it seems more important, more engaging. The album just makes me stop, listen and fully indulge in what I’m hearing. The visual marvel of the record itself spinning along with it’s album artwork is also hypnotizing at times.”

Just A Stone's Throw Away (Debut Solo Album) Valerie Carter Released 1977 This is my first time spinning this album. I've played it several times over the last few days and it is enjoyable. My first thought was that this is going to be an R&B album. However it is a blend of most genres. Valerie Carter has great vocal range as heard on her hit song "Ooh Child". Upon reading about her bio, Valerie is influenced by what I call the Southern California music scene. Her album was contributed by some of music's well known artists such as Jackson Browne, Deniece Williams, and Linda Ronstadt. I recommend giving this album a listen if you happen to find a copy.
