SUBLIME CINEMA #507 - TRUST
I remember Adrienne Shelly’s death really vividly, I lived a block from where she was killed, and the swarm of police cars there. Nobody knew the details at the time, but things came out; suicide, question mark, then, sadly it became clear that she was murdered.
Shelly was a gem of an actress, and a gem of a director - with Waitress, a warm film that became a Broadway show. She cut her teeth in front of the camera in Hal Hartley movies, this one Trust being maybe her most memorable role. The HBO doc that just came out about is really good, hard to watch, but cathartic. She’s well worth remembering.
