4/2 of April Poetry Month Prompt: Write a poem titled "Frozen"
Frozen
it's a time thing.
Like moments passing you
while you stand
still.
Frozen.
Not in the let it go sense
more like
put your coat on
You don't want
to be found
frozen.
I feel the thawing
like a preserved sense of
myself protected from
time - almost ready
to move.
Bend again.
Feeling air around my fingertips at a
pace where every
sensation
is the potential of rebirth.
❤️ Genesis

It’s been a year since I first stepped a foot upon this path, Didn’t know where I’d be going, or whereupon I would tread. Expectations were low right there at the start, Didn’t know if I’d finish, responsibility I dread, But here I’ve found things that I’d never guess, Found some things that I would’ve sworn I already had, Family and support so much more than before, Helping me transform my writing into something more, Now just little bits and bobs connected in my mind, But eventually I will release them all linked in kind.

1876.
three miles of warehouses of narrow back roads lined with parked cars in the unlovely part of town where the tourists seldom wander up nearly to the railroad tracks left before the feed store around the back of the inpatient rehab that the good folks up by the college tried so damn hard to keep out of their backyard past the staircase to the river which is blocked of course for winter back past the church again the party store the mechanic's shop the Marathon station with the last free air and then up and around and then home again but then it's safe to say in most real ways I never really left it

Going back
And re-reading
Old things

Past shelves.
The replay button
Inside my head
Is stuck -
Why would I want
To see any more
Of the messes
I've made
And the things
I've broken
Beyond repair?

a simple kind of love
summary - an account of how the little moments can turn out to be so much more
warnings: none i think?! just very differently written to normal
word count: -900
Some people live their lives counting their years. Some people count 365 days and some will count weeks. That has never been the case for you, however. You count your seconds, because you aren’t willing to miss a single one of the little moments that flourish between you and Harry every day.
It was the little touches and stolen kisses that you softly dreamt about every night as he hugged you to sleep. It was the intimately whispered words that made your heart skip a beat and fall that little bit more in love. It wasn’t a perishing fall though, it was the landing-on-a-cloud-of-pillows kind of fall.
Describing these little moments didn’t come close to how they actually felt in real time, but nonetheless it brought you flurries of butterflies to think over those moments and reflect on how precious the single seconds are.
A particular favourite of yours would be the silent stares from across the room. The room would be a void of quiet and yet it would be so loud. The looks on both of your faces as you admired one another practically screamed that you were in love with one another. You’d be standing in the kitchen, cutting tomatoes and peppers to add to a bolognese, and Harry would be sat on the kitchen bar stools reading a poetry book for musical inspiration and you’d gently catch each other’s gaze.
Harry’s lips would often turn up first, not being able to control his giddiness around you, only for you to follow and smile widely like the crazy in love person you were. You’d go all bashful and tease him to stop messing with you and he’d simply say, “I just like seeing you smile.”
Sometimes he would even come beside you, leaving his poetry book to close without a bookmark because he was more focused on being near you than remembering his page number. He’d gently kiss your cheek and make sure your hair is out of your face, before slipping his arms around your waist and pulling himself in to hug you close. He’d breathe you in for all the calm scents that you wore, calming himself from the stress of a busy day:
He’s sometimes offer to help chop food, but you knew he was only doing it to be polite and all he really wanted to do was hold you close. He’d look carefully at your face and admire it for every minute feature he could find. No pore on your face had gone unseen by his eyes.
He saw you.
A kiss to the forehead and a simple question would always make you weak at your knees, showing just how deeply his words affected you, “Do you know how beautiful you are?”
You’d smile again and shake your head softly, stopping the meal prep as you soaked in the words of Harry next to you. He brought the sunshine to the darkest of your days, simply through his words and touch. You never needed anything more than just him.
“You tell me.” You’d challenge softly, turning to meet his loving eyes that repeated the mantra ‘i love you’ over and over just with their warm glow.
“Too beautiful to put into known words.” He’d reply, kissing your lips with as much passion as he put into his choice of words. He kissed like he was promising you this feeling forever and you kissed back to accept his promise and be with him forever.
Forever sounded simple, together.
Forever wasn’t a fear, together.
He’d kiss you long enough to distract you from dinner and make sure you and your body were taught just how beautiful you were.
After bliss only came more.
The love you had for each other was too strong to only let it out in tiny bursts. You made sure to love each other long and hard, so by the end you’d be soaked in each other’s love as if until your fingers pruned after being in water for so long.
Your head in his lap, curled into a soft ball, would be your favourite position. He’d carefully position your head into the most comfortable position for you and made sure your face was free to breathe peacefully.
His hands combed over your head lightly, calming you in ways that only he and his hands could do. Once in a while he’d lean over your frame to check that you were still asleep and well, kissing your forehead. He’d often thought that kissing your forehead whilst you were sleeping would send his love through to your brain, only allowing you to dream of happy things. He knew it was silly, but he did it regardless.
When it was time to wake up, you’d catch him re-reading his poetry book since he’d forgotten where he originally was. He’d have made mental notes off lines he could adapt into songs. He’d tell you a few, silently asking for your judgment. “You. The greatest love poem to ever be written.”; was one of his favourites, which is how he ended up writing the Grammy award-winning song ‘You’. Simply kissing his knuckles was enough for him to know that he’d chosen a good line and that it would become something beautiful with time.
Just like your love for one another.

335: Areski and Fontaine // L'Incendie
Tumblr media
L'Incendie Areski and Fontaine 1973, BYG
The late ‘60s and early ‘70s were when the past half-century of avant-garde developments in theatre, literature, film, and art music began to break through into pop. The results of these early flirtations have a sense of discovery and possibility that has continued to captivate generations of new listeners to this day. Brigitte Fontaine and Areski Belkacem’s L’Incendie should absolutely be considered one of the towering classics of the era (and, among the Francophonie, it probably is), but I only came across it for the first time early last year. It reminds me of something from the Velvet Underground / John Cale / Nico universe, simultaneously emblematic of its time and so ahead of it as to sound anachronistic.
On “Les murailles,” tape of Fontaine’s exhalations and what sounds like a kalimba are snipped up and looped to create a tinkling, twitching soundscape that presages the Books or Boards of Canada; the track that follows, “L’engourdie,” layers howling wah-drenched electric guitar behind a pretty acoustic folk pop number that would fit right in on a Brigitte Bardot record; next, the stark “Nous avons tant parlé” could be a theatrical elegy set in a dilapidated seaside church. Every song feels stylistically distinct, but Areski and Fontaine’s creative vision remains consistent; I hear post-punk and Björk and Sonic Youth, and I hear French early music and Berber folk and the ‘50s sound poetry of Henri Chopin in the same measure.
youtube
It’s always a challenge reviewing non-English language records because you’re stuck speaking to its purely sonic characteristics, which increases the likelihood you’ll hilariously misread it—call a song a soothing folk idyll when it’s actually about smashing international Jewry or something. With political, lyric-forward stuff like L’Incendie, it also means failing to engage with its message, flattening it as an artwork. (Unfortunately, there is nothing I as a person of French ancestry living in a majority-French city could do or could have done in the past to better interpret this record.) I asked French-language correspondent and girlfriend of the podcast Mea for one of her classic vibe checks, but she told me the reams of notes she took while listening were too dotty to share, so I can only assume hearing and understanding Fontaine’s words in their original tongue unchains some celestial horror.
Few of the lyrics can be easily found online, which forces me to rely on Le Gendre’s analysis, but critic Kevin Le Gendre’s helpful liner notes paint a portrait of a wide-ranging album that engages with recent post-colonialist bloodshed (Jordan’s Black September civil war with PLO forces on “Le 6 septembre”); the medicalization of psychic distress (“Ragilia”); intimacy and coupledom; and much more besides. What I was able to find of Fontaine’s lyrics online have a spiky surrealist poetry to them. From “Après la guerre” (“After the War”):
“Happiness blows The eyelids lie gently The sexes glow The eyes, by moving, make you cum The men returned from the war And on their heads, the grass grows back.”

Update ~ Return & The Swan Song 365 Challenge
Tumblr media
365 Marks the number of days I will be challenging myself to and that voyage starts tomorrow. I will have this be my swan song. Yes it’s true no one hits harder than life, but what it’s really about is toughness, not power. Enduring is what makes us still stand, that's getting to the last round and that’s how you win. One hit and it’s just defense. And... that’s what I’m going to do! (I’m going raw in-depth beneath the cut.)
I’ve left pieces of my heart into the possession of many and I’ve watched them soon after throw and neglect it into the trash. Time and energy spent accosting my vitality. And it’s not on them strictly, it’s my own fault for being careless of the importance of where I devote myself too. I have left pieces of my body being torn and dissected to try fixing a disease and body that continues to decay and now is inoperable to fix from the holes carved into me. Hospital visits erased my opportunities and allowed me to stand side line oddly. I still recall being stuck there for a month, and I was bet against. Told I wasn’t strong enough. Watching my dreams shatter from Olympics, wrestling, everything gone, but one vital thing.
My mind is still intact. Although I deplete and have bitter limits. As long as I have that, I still have all I need. But expression is what I believe is the most important thing being’s bring; inside art you can prove that. In that atmosphere, you create worlds. And while you may get destroyed, you can convert that into something better. When things die like dreams, they can be recreated and transformed into a whole new positive landscape and impact.
I push myself to boundaries, challenge cause I need nothing ever wasted again. There is a way to do that. I can turn my entire life of years into memories good and bad, and bear it all on the table, in ONE full year... I can turn into stories, experiences, adventures. I can put it all into form and unleash it. Reveal my truth.
See although people have entrusted pieces of them to me. I have never lost it. And they are still important to me, to immortalize because every scar physically and mentally builds no matter how it’s constructed and molds you. I’ve always been second-rate in almost every regard, but I have never felt that way when sharing here and I continue to prosper and push because of the fondness and the out-pour of all the encouraging people who’ve tuned in, no matter the gaps in my appearances, or it almost seemingly like I’ve gone off to the seas and abandoned them on the shores.
I always return as one of the few constants.
Three months last year, I should just go for that alone as a benchmark, or go the normal idea and go for a consistent goal of Four, but I want more, more and more. In my heart of hearts.
One year. That’s where I want to go.
I will lay out every single emotion and I will turn it into some sort of screen set, writing, gif, comedic skits, poetry, lyrics, something to productively let out daily. Of course, I've had a handicap for one month and although that seems like a lot of distance to be ahead of me and easily achievable, I assure you all it takes is one bad day and that’s gone. A shifting wrong blow from life and it’s gone and I’m out.
Even if I don’t make the criteria of this challenge, I’ve set forth. I’ll still be happy with what I did and my opinion, alongside the love that I still can give myself daily, doesn’t change anything. 'Cause I did what makes me feel alive. Though I strongly believe, I can win this distance.
The reason is -- I’ve already succeeded in getting a month’s worth of work. Where my passion was perceived as a fire, thinking it dimmed, that the blaze couldn’t come back. I assure you, I’ve found it’s an explosive now.
It’s in my gratitude to all those who over the years have been on a life journey, being beside me, going through it all. Watching me adapt, evolve. I’m certain sometimes, there could’ve been questions if I was diminishing or regressing.
My duty is to hopefully aspire and inspire and I can take it that wasn’t easy. So that’s my apology if I’ve ever let your expectations down.
But now, if you stuck with me in this wild ride, I will deliver you the best that I’ve held in holding and couldn’t get too.
I owe it all to those who’ve come and slithered in whispers against me, targeted me with poison, aided in doubt. Thank you for allowing me to inject that into myself. It took a considerable amount of time to learn how to turn that poison into something useful, but I’ve found the antidote and gained beyond a tolerance to it, but immunity.
For those who’ve been my stars, who've been my guiding compass to return, who saw my spark, and encouraged me. Watching me leaping into turning my spark into a lightning strike here and there, I owe you a few worlds. Consider them created. I’ll go from lightning to thunder! And from there, I’ll become a whole thunderstorm of unbridled passion!
Even to those who often remain without even my presence, I have all my heart for you in this and it has given me my conviction to overcome. I’ll bring warmth into even the shadows themselves.
I’m out to develop a new writing style and form of art and trespass into it and ideally if it works, I’ll master it. If doable, I’ll be telling stories in this format. Not only easier to absorb but better for me too. But I haven’t given up, I attend to create all Captain’s stories, arcs, which I’ve hundreds remaining. Though this will allow me to ease it up and turn it into an alternative until I do so. I’m also going to be developing Captain’s final state and character arc, leading him up to being his pinnacle, prior to him going for his Last Voyage. This is a better idea instead, because it allows me to not only return to RP anywhere, but prevent partners from having to contend with any Story that is happening anymore. Now it’s strictly stories that are happening / stories that have happened. I'll be allowing them to be filled out / teased in my new style, and also one day, whenever not this challenge, I’m back to writing again, I can go at it.
Things haven’t changed though I’ll work on getting back to answering more stuff, being easier reachable for stuff. But most importantly, Build. Support. Hoist. Back to showcasing a lot of your inspiring tales, amazing works. You’ve kept all the engine running and that’s what matters. We’re all in this as a crew. Thank you for taking care of the helms and still never halting either in going through your tides. You’re what makes those seek fortune.
As always much love out to you hearties and glad to be on this vessel again, thanks for being embodiment's of treasure. But it’s land ho!

Hope Springs Eternal - Alexander Pope Tomorrow will be beautiful, For tomorrow comes out of the lake. - Emanuel Carnaveli As an Aquarian who's also interested in mindfulness, i have a complicated relationship with Hope. In many ways, i live in the Future (often to my detriment) - i see how beautiful things COULD be, SHOULD be. This endless optimism can become a narcotic, though, a soporific, a splint keeping me limping forward, even if its towards a cliff. Hope can also be a blinder, giving me tunnel vision and shutting me off from the present. And yet, still, Hope is a vision of what is possible. It gives us a goal to strive for, even if it's just a beautiful dream. It's an aspiration, a vision of Utopia, some shining City on the Hill. Dreams are important. Imagination is important. It's been a challenging couple of years. Many of us are bruised and battered - it can feel hard to find the strength to soldier on, to keep stumbling towards Nirvana. But here, on this last day of the year, let's dare to dream. Let's remember what we're fighting for, what we love. Let's remember our loves, our family & friends, our Human family. Let's live to fight another 365 days in 2023. Let's not let cold-blooded sociopaths buy and sell our dreams and our love. Let's remember what's important. Day 93 of Writing Something Everyday
(365 Day Challenge)
Tumblr media
You said you loved me and I said it back.
When I say I love you I mean it whole heartedly.
I don't know how I could've got the message across any clearer than I tried.
I tried in vain.
You still blocked me after all our conversations and all the personal things we told and sent each other.
Why?
You made plans, you told me I was beautiful, you wanted me, you made me laugh, got upset when others treated me badly.
I felt as if you'd jump out of the phone and beat them up yourself.
I felt safe, I felt protected, I felt listened to, I felt worthy.
You told me that you didn't want to corrupt me.
You didn't realize I already had been.
I have immense darkness and demons as well I'm just ashamed of them.
I didn't want you to see that.
But I would've dealt with my darkness to walk in yours with you.
There's nothing I can say or do now,
Now I've been left alone in my darkness.
I posted pictures of me happy so you could see the smile you put on my face,
Not because I was perfect and happy 24/7.
I wrote to you in poetry to express my deepest loves toward you.
You said you wished you could write something as beautiful back to me to show me as well.
What you didn't know is that you did, every word you wrote me was honey to my soul and music to my ears.
Your good mornings were violin concertos to me.
But there was always that cello deepening the conversation.
I wanted you, I wanted your darkness, I wanted your light, I wanted it all.
I'm nothing, I'm not perfect, I'm not anything worthy of anyone's time.
Yet you saw me.
When I wasn't looking...
You saw me.
I try to search myself for answers, clues as to where it went wrong but I come up with no evidence.
I come up with no evidence of you being wrong or I.
I'm hurt and I'm confused.
But I still love you.
You can't stop people from loving you and wanting you.
You could've killed me and I would've gladly accepted the knife in my chest.
It would've felt better than this pain I feel now.
Were you scared? You told me you were but I wanted to hold your hand.
We didn't have to be afraid of the dark, we could've done it together.
You're not protecting me by being a martyr, you're acting foolish.
I loved you..
I LOVE YOU...
And nothing that you can do to me would ever make me love you less, I would've done anything for you..ANYTHING you told me to - I was at your feet waiting for you to say what to do next.
The feelings I experienced were unlike anything I'd felt before, you caressed me without being near me. You made my heart pound without a word, everything about you was perfect to me.
You said you weren't perfect but neither am I, perfection isn't what you think of yourself it's what someone who truly loves you sees when they think about you or see you.
I fell so hard and you chickened out.
I'm not angry at you, I don't hate you.
I love you..
I don't understand it one bit what your logic is here but I still love you.
Are you thinking about me?
I sit here now on the couch and remember our conversations, the bathroom where I brought my phone so I never missed a message from you.
Every room in my apartment reminds me of you. How can someone I never met take up so much energy and space without being with you?
Because you were with me..
The hoodie I wear smells like the first time we spoke and I'm wearing it religiously, it feels like you're hugging me - I hope the scent lasts forever.
I loved you,
I LOVE YOU...
And the saddest part is, that I know you love me too. You showed me with actions you never had to be articulate in anything.
So why'd you do it?

#8 The now of things isn't bad.
The goal is not to look to the future, where the vision can also come with fear.
Or to the past lessons that keep us there.
How do we stay?
P.s. I'm behind, good thing time is an illusion and I'm the only one counting 💜

Did I re-watch the entire FC Barcelona documentary today? Nearly. I just watch all the good parts. And I read poetry. But I still have some problems connecting with poetry, in whatever language.

What is it about a
"Blank Slate"
That's so appealing when
We live in a world
That encourages all to brag
About where they came from
And who they used to be
(Even if
None of it
Is true)?
Why is there also
This strong undercurrent of longing
To wash it all away
And begin life
Anew?
