Even though there's narration over the music, this song brought forth cathartic tears.

There's such a languid, sardonic tone to the music. It reminds me of high-school cynicism and angst, that many teens feel, having to face an identity crisis after graduation, maybe during college. You have all that pain and hurt and mistrust, and it has worn you down to a nub of your former self. It hurts to think too hard, so you have to just chill and rest. You're trying to make your lungs relearn how to bring in oxygen when you breathe. Not just any bits of air; you need to seek what will bring life back into your body.

Obviously, my analysis often reflects myself and my own feelings. Which is why I like discussing my read of the vibes like this. Just wish they had the song posted separately, without narration.

Edited to add: The band's name is Lockruf, with one member based in Germany and the other in NY. (The site is in German.) Haven't figured out which of their songs is in this video, but I'll keep looking.

Sleep Token - "Rain"

I've been listening to all of Sleep Token's latest album, "Take Me Back to Eden", via youtube lately. The non-single tracks were mostly what I expected, though I wish they'd been a bit harder (or consistent? The styles jump around a lot). First listen-through was the most jarring, but I've gotten used to the songs now.

"Rain" is def my fav of the non-single tracks. ("The Summoning" and "Take Me Back to Eden" are my 2 favs, overall.) I love the starting piano, the heavier guitar that comes in later, and the subtle rain sound effects that can be heard here and there.

Yeah, I def cried at this one. The vibes remind me of "Alkaline", which I think of as being a great intro song to the band. (It was the 2nd or 3rd song I heard by them, but it's what got me hooked.)
