I am always so unfathomably overwhelmed by the look in Hua Cheng's eyes when he gazes at Xie Lian; always full of love, worship, affection and adoration.
The look only given to the one who saved his life,
the one who shielded him from pain,
the one who healed his wounds and protected him,
the one who believed in him when everyone resented him,
the one he died for and always would,
but also the one who became his entire meaning in life and for whom he continues to live, forever!

Explain to me like I'm a child:
Dried dirt easily becomes mud when even a little water is applied.
Why does clay not do the same after it has been baked into a pot, or brick?
You've taken water out, why can't you put it back in?

That’s right folks, we’re doing the impossible.
I’ve devised a survey to determine which MCYT (yes, MCYT, not specific to any particular server) is The Skrunkliest. And, which MCYTs are the skrunkliest per server.
Featuring a painstaking amount of names (over 400 unique MCYTs!), servers, and ample fill-in-the-blanks just in case.
Help determine the skrunkliest blockman: [here].

"Cave Johnson here. Just figured I'd update y'all on my newest personal project: Wirewolves! Werewolves, but electronic. Basically we took the DNA of our wolf-men and injected it into the wires in some wolf-like robotic bodies. Turns out? Bad idea. In a few hours a dozen bloodthirsty and vengeful wirewolves were swarming outside my office making a bigger fuss than those OSHA enforcers that like to pester us. In a 'shocking' turn of events *chuckles*, Caroline took care of 'em all. Took off those pretty high heels of hers and used 'em to impale those pesky wirewolves right through the head. I'm safe, my office isn't messed up, less than twenty people died, and cold water'll take care of the blood that got on Caroline's dress in no time. We're moving that test to a more highly-regulated area. We're on to something! Cave Johnson out!"

awl really is just chock-full of little details so i wanted to talk about one jumped out at me now that i've gotten to year 5. mild spoilers for a wonderful life below, ya'll know the drill.
a quick run down for anyone who hasn't played the game yet ; an important peice of furniture in your child's bedroom is their bookshelf, which you can interact with to see what books they have and read excerpts from them. typically, the first book will correspond with what their current highest liked interest is and you'll find a new one to check out with each passing year.
bea's current major interest is in academics so when i checked her bookshelf on day 1 of year 5, the first book really caught my eye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the wording of the title might be a little confusing at first, (when i looked up chaos training, it seemed to be a method of body building,) but it's definitely a book about chaos theory based off of the excerpt. i don't fully understand chaos theory myself, but in layman's terms, it's an interdisciplinary field of scientific study & mathematics that focuses on the underlying patterns that determine a seemingly random outcome. it sounds really complex and a lot of the jargon flies right over my head, (which goes to show how smart my kiddo is! 😤✨️)
an aspect of chaos theory that people might be more familiar with is the butterfly effect, which is an underlying principle of chaos. it's the idea that one small change to something can end up resulting in a large difference down the line. ya know. like how buying your kid the building blocks from van can potentially result in them pursuing academics as an adult. it's wild how stuff like how often you cuddled your kid as a baby or what items you gifted them as a teen goes on to affect them later on.
i just think it's such a clever detail to have this be a prominent book in bea's bookshelf in year 5, when all the different aspects of your kid's life truly start to come to a head and determine the trajectory of their future. it's really fitting.

BIONICLE Science: The Heights of the Mangai Volcano and Mt. Ihu
Tumblr media
So, when I was looking for reference images of the Island of Mata-Nui for my next Knowledge Tower video, I found this image, which I think is the only view we ever get of the full island from sea level, rather than a shot from above. It’s a really neat image, the only one I know of where you can clearly see the heights of Mt. Ihu and the Mangai volcano. And that gave me an idea - I could use this image alongside the canon length of the island of Mata-Nui to determine the heights of both!
So that’s what I did:
Tumblr media
The island is canonically 489.09 km long, making each pixel in this image roughly 2.26km.
Mt Ihu is 17 pixels above sea level here, with the Mangai volcano being slightly shorter at 15 pixels above sea level. This means that:
Mt. Ihu = 38.49km tall
Mangai volcano = 33.96km tall
For context, not only are both of these taller than the highest mountain on Earth, Mount Everest (4.35x taller and 3.84x taller respectively) these are even taller than the highest mountain in the whole solar system - Olympus Mons on Mars! (Which is 25km tall, making Ihu 1.54x taller and The Mangai 1.36x taller)
The scale of things in BIONICLE continues to amaze…

Looking at the new Nasa pictures through the Webb telescope and currently going through it. You know the fact that we are,, nothing, compared to the immensity of the universe, and yet we've always had our eyes turned to the sky and out hearts desperate for knowledge. The mere fact that we are alive to see these pictures is thanks to every person alive before us that has looked up to the sky at least once and wondered. The fact that the galaxies and stars have been occupying humanity from the ancient times until now. The fact that we found patterns in the stars and named them, and made myths and told stories and got them them tattooed and cried while looking at something that its mere immensity would burn us. The fact that we have always tried and will always try to know more about who we are and where we are and why we are even though we know, we know we may never find an answer. I love humans so much. I'm so glad to be alive to witness this.

"... Cinnamon, which is of course produced by the cinnam, a mammal native to the tropical regions of Asia. A distant relative to the pangolin, its skin and especially back are covered in bark-like scales which can be trimmed off without harming the animal, similar to sheep's wool, and are commonly used as a spice in either whole or powdered form. A rarer variant is produced by gathering exclusively the scales that the animal sheds naturally. This version, known as cinnamoff, allegedly surpasses cinnamon in fullness and complexity of flavour by several lengths, but is not commercially viable due to its production method. A now extinct subspecies, the Northern Cinnam, once lived in China and, thanks to the seasonality of its habitat, would shed all its scales within a few weeks at the end of winter. Locals would gather them and use this cinnamoff to season traditional spring festival dishes. The Northern Cinnam has been presumed extinct since the 15th century; alleged sightings were reported in 1983 and 2005, but no conclusive evidence, photographic or otherwise, has been found."

thinking about ericson au arvo and how in that verse he's really unlocked the gremlin instincts, y'know? he's def not as high-strung as he is in other verses where he was a honor roll teachers pet nerd kid to the end, more chaotic. like, 'wanna watch me chug these random chemicals and see what happens' type of stuff. he's already failed, he got disowned, why not have some fun, right?
