Ugh im so glad I have a reasonable reason to decline doing any holiday-ing this year. When I told my boyfriend that I was relieved I wouldnt have to go home this year as this always creates drama (the drama being created by me finally after many years insisting on sane boundaries and basic rules of politeness and everyone overreacting like I shot their cat), he told me that to solve the drama this year he had planned to invite them over.

Invite them. Into my home. For xmas.

Dear lord that is WORSE.

#no offense to my fam I can invite them all individually but I would never survive them all at once #and i dont even want to invite my parents 99% of the time they do not know how to be functionning members of society #reasons why my fam blew fuses at me these last years: #1) i asked to keep the sudden inexplicable changes of plan to a minimum #2) i asked to be informed of the day and time of events at least a week beforehand so i can make sure ill be there #3) i wanted to know peoples allergies before cooking the xmas dinner so i dont kill anyone #4) i got miffed to learn that after several weeks of meal planning one person planned to bring a whole entire different meal and dessert #Without warning me #because she was too shy to tell me her allergies #see 100% of my problems with holiday parties that involve my family is people who are so terrified of being inconvenient #that they circle all the way back into being the most rude inconvenient frustrating exhausting beings you have ever met #like my mother this summer who prefered to eat standing up rather than grab a chair in another room and bring it over #but god forbid I ask these people to show the slightest amount of self reflection #enforce a common sense rule #or inconvenience them in any way with my quote unquote rude requests
