I am literally one of those high strung Respect Our Troops middle aged dads but about Frodo Baggins. If you hate on him I'm gonna pivot into a lecture about everything he's fought for and sacrificed and how you wouldn't last a day in his circumstances and

The thing about the dialog in the prequels is there's no way human disaster Anakin Skywalker would be able to properly articulate his feelings. So even if it was written with the intention of sounding profound and missed the mark, "I don't like sand" loops right back around to being good dialog because it is more in character and evocative of Anakin as a person than any genuinely poetic or sensible thing he could have said instead

"Weak" male characters I love you forever if you're a guy who who is afraid, who cries often, who can't keep it together under pressure, who tried to rise to the overwhelming amounts of strength and stoicism your actual or perceived circumstances demanded and it was not glorious and it did not help you "man up" and it broke you I am your number one fan and defender and you are unironically one of the most important types of characters in anything ever

Do you ever think about how the original script for Felina described Jesse's expression while escaping the compound as "grimly determined" and how the seemingly minor change of having him screaming and laughing and crying instead in the actual episode ends his story on a wholly different and ultimately much more hopeful note. He still has a soft core, still feels everything deeply, still carries his heart on his sleeve. They broke him but they did not change him.

Broke: Walter White became Heisenberg when [insert specific scene of choice]
Woke: Walter White was always Heisenberg deep down
Bespoke: Walter White never became Heisenberg because, while the alias symbolically stands for his moral decline within the story, to Walter himself Heisenberg was an unattainable personification of what he considered aspirational masculinity. Traditional patriarchal ideas about manhood are ludicrously divorced from how real people function: In the world of a "Heisenberg", women and children are reduced to near property, to an extension of the self and a source of ego growth, while other men are reduced to competitors in an imagined hierarchy. A "Heisenberg" is invincible. He is always right, always respected, and always comes out on top eventually. In order to believe in the illusion that a "Heisenberg" can exist in the real world, can be embodied by oneself, a man must let his compassion and vulnerability be eclipsed by the need to win against a perceived omnipotent threat of being emasculated - Effectively isolating himself from healthy connections and coping methods and leaving him with only that very struggle. Walter's downfall at the end of the series serves as a wake-up call that reveals to him, and reinforces to the audience, that he has been living in a male power fantasy which was bound from day one to shatter eventually.

Being a Chuck McGill enthusiast is tough because most people do not have a nuanced view of him at all. He's either flanderized into Big Lame Meanie or (by a significantly smaller group) upheld as this unacknowledged beacon of reason
No! No!!! I want to discuss everything that's wrong with this toxic bitter old man and why it's ultimately tragic

Maybe if Chuck and Jimmy had gone through a near death experience represented by a creepy magical forest wherein they're pursued by a mysterious antlered beast together they would have grown up to have a healthier relationship

This screenshot is like poetry to me. Every time I get to the last comment a kaleidoscope of better days, of things I've had to let go of, flashes before my inner eye and fills me with immeasurable melancholy. Yes it is also really funny but aren't we all John. Didn't we all used to run
