I’m working on Sch next cause I love the glow it has and I’m warming to Shb Sch (still miss the fairy being able to be free to do what ever but it works) and then probably Smn (cause those were two she did for a time per her lore especially during Heavensward) and War cause I like how it glows.

My progress with the new 5.35 content so far!  Southern Front is... OK, but I’m glad it’s not the only way to upgrade the relic weapons.

Vex’s Brief Guide to Save the Queen :: Chapter 1 - On the Edge of Memory
Tumblr media
With a new patch of relic content released into XIV, I must yet return to existence, as once again, there’s weapons to grind for!  Welcome to a new batch of guides that will cover the Resistance Weapon quest series for Shadowbringers! And whilst we don’t yet have a field instance much like Eureka (Though this is coming in 5.35), for now we may as well kick this off with an actually brief guide, for once. I intend to create a guide series the same as Eureka for both of the relics for Shadowbringers, which does include the Disciple of Land/Hand weapons, too.
As always - my thoughts. I like the mixed approach they seem to be taking with this relic series. The developers definitely have taken on feedback that was gained during Eureka, and this will come into play throughout this series much the same as the initial feedback for Anemos/Pagos influenced Pyros (by far my favourite of the Eureka Quartet). Gaining the weapon this time is pretty simple, and it seems to me that the Eureka-esque field instance this time around is focused on empowering the weapon with stats, though that does remain to be seen. I’m really excited to see what’s in store for us in an expansion that I already adore.
Tumblr media
Chapter 1 of the Resistance Weapons Series is called On The Edge of Memory and is mostly focused around a solo quest chain and trial series. This does have a lot of interesting lore concerning the IVth Legion, Bozja Citadel, Cid, and the state of affairs over in Othard as of Shadowbringers, so that’s definitely another reason entirely to pick up the quest chain.
So what will this guide cover?
Obtaining your first stage Resistance Weapon
Obtaining further Resistance Weapons
Memoria Misera EX & Rewards (Not an actual guide to the fight)
I’m looking forward to another interesting and fun experience of gaining a relic with all of you!
1. Obtaining your first stage Resistance Weapon
To do this, you’ll need to go to Kugane and pick up the quest Hail to the Queen which is given to you by Keiten, a Roe NPC within the Kogane Dori Markets. Follow this chain of quests - taking you into the Resistance HQ of Gangos somewhere on the mainland, and re-introducing you to the usual dysfunctional once-couple Gerolt & Rowena. Archon Mikoto from the Return to Ivalice quest chain is also here - which brings me to another important point - You must have completed the Return to Ivalice Alliance Raid Series from Stormblood in order to begin the Resistance Weapons Series - as these are part of the Alliance Raid Roulette, you shouldn’t have too much difficulty getting these completed, and our good friend Count Cidolfus Orlandeau, the vote abandon man himself, has now been nerfed within Orbonne Monastery.  You will obtain a first stage Resistance Weapon for free from this chain after progressing through the quests Hail to the Queen -> Path to the Past -> The Bozja Incident -> Fire in the Forge. There will be a solo duty in here, if you fall to one of the bosses you can make use of the checkpoint system on duty restart to ensure you don’t have to run through this all over again.
Be sure that you obtain the weapon for and with your chosen class at the end of Fire in the Forge.
2. Obtaining Further Resistance Weapons
I’m sure after Eureka or previous relic weapons, you were wondering where the grind comes in, weren’t you? Well there is a catch to obtaining new Resistance Weapons in this first stage - Thavnairian Scalepowder, available from Auriana in Revenant’s Toll. In order to gain a new Resistance Weapon, you must trade 4 Thavnairian Scalepowder to Zlatan in Gangos. Each Thavnairian Scalepowder comes at the generous price of 250 Tomestones of Poetics. This is done through the repeatable quest Resistance is (Not) Futile. All in all? Not really a huge grind will be needed in order to obtain new weapons here.
3. Memoria Misera EX
Now, you’ll do Memoria Misera with a trust raid group toward the end of the solo duty, so you don’t have to worry about getting players together to obtain anything for the relic, nor does the EX have any bearing on the Relic questline at all, other than being unlocked at the end of it through the Wandering Dramaturge in Gangos.  What Memoria Misera EX does give you, are coffers that give you one dyable piece of Artifact gear for whatever class you open the coffer using. So if you were wondering when and how you’d be able to dye your AF gear from SHB, this is it. The fight also gives you two idols on completion, which can be traded to C’intana at Revenant’s Toll. She’s by the usual Tomestone NPCs.  The rates for different coffers is as follows: Idealized Head Gear Coffer - 3 Idols Idealized Chest Gear Coffer - 5 Idols Idealized Hand Gear Coffer - 3 Idols Idealized Leg Gear Coffer - 5 Idols Idealized Foot Gear Coffer - 3 Idols This equates to 19 High Legatus Idols per set, which is ten clears of Memoria Misera EX per set.
Tumblr media
Best of luck to all you Warriors of Darkness & Light undertaking the Resistance Weapon series! Once again, I look forward to completing the weapon and freeing Bozja with you all as time goes by.  May you ever walk in the light of the Crystal.

I think I’m actually going to get an AC gunblade next instead of a rapier, and have red mage get the first WoLex and improved relic weapon come 5.35. I like having GNB vs other tanks, like SCH vs other healers, pushing their DPS to the max, so having their weapons at 500 and RDM at 495, making my other DPS classes feel less obsolete (not to mention giving a break to any SAM/BLM nearby who wants to be doing more damage than me as an identity thing), appeals
Still want red mage to get my first Edenchoir weapon though >:3

The most ignorant argument I hear from pro-gun people is that people in the UK fall victim to knife violence because guns are illegal.
I mean, of course we're going to have a more frequent weapon of attack without guns? Duh?
I'm from the UK, and I actually had someond come up to me with a knife once. Do you know what I did? I ran, and I escaped the situation. Do you know why I wasn't able to do that? Because they have to get close to stab me, they don't have to get close to shoot me. For that reason, I still stand by stance that I'd rather someone come for me with a knife than a gun.
The homocide rate in the US is 5.35 per 100,000 people, while in the UK it's 1.20 per 100,000 people. Meanwhile, 60% of homocides in the US are committed with guns. This argument, honestly, just doesn't have legs and I'm sick of hearing it.
I understand the culture in the US is different, so getting rid of ALL guns isn't realistic. But to say knife violence is worse than gun violence is ignorant.

What makes NFT investing so addictive?
I spent the better part of my day on Opensea yesterday. Around noon, my original CloneX open skull helmet NFT unexpectedly got purchased after I set the purchase price over 1 Eth above floor. I saw that floor prices were rising, and I scrambled to buy a new one using my fresh Eth.
I had been eyeing another CloneX with assault glasses (see below) the other day. I made a quick check - it was still available at the same 5.9 Eth price as it was last December 30! I was short of 0.09 Eth, so I quickly converted some tokens in my wallet to Eth, and clicked Buy. 5.9 Eth was almost $25,000. Probably the biggest single transaction in my life, but at that moment I did not even give it a second thought. I just pressed 'Buy' like I was paying for a pizza delivery, and it landed on my wallet minutes later.
The mind-blowing part was, dozens of other people at that moment were buying too. Shelling out $25,000 to $100,000 like it was nothing, like it was all magic internet money (come to think of it, maybe it is). The floor price began to rise, from 5.15, to 5.35, to 5.8. I felt gratified with my decision to speed up my purchase. Ah, it felt good to see the price rising right after buying one. There is a certain thrill to floor prices going up, like you are riding high on the waves and the universe is buoying you up. You feel at one with the hive mind.
I kept checking the Opensea platform over and over throughout the day to see whether the price increase was a flash in the pan, a continued steady rise, or a 'floor is lava' crazy shoot up. Going to Opensea to check NFT prices is mad addictive. Every price refresh has variable reward dynamics as it is. Since starting my NFT journey, I probably refresh Opensea more than my Facebook and Instagram feeds combined.
I also checked the old NFT I had at least a dozen times to see if it got bought again at a higher price (which would have meant that I lost out on further upside). I tried to convince myself that it was okay since I now got a rarer and cooler-looking one. Behold.
Tumblr media
There's something whimsical about a robot in matching-color shades and earrings, sucking on a lollipop.
What makes NFTs so addictive? The way I see it, it's like playing a great multiplayer online game but with high stakes.
The fun starts when you browse for an NFT. Which collections should you ape into? Once you find a collection, you then check which ones are worth buying. Which ones resonate? Which ones would likely appeal to collectors and hence make it easier to sell? There is a game theoretic element to it. Should you scoop up the floor, go up to find a rarer piece, or bide your time and throw bids in first to see which land? These are just some of the questions to ask on top of the due diligence work to check the team background, the project roadmap, the influencer conversations, and the strength of the community.
Once you hold a piece, the usual custom is to change your profile picture to that NFT across your social platforms. It is now your virtual avatar. You engage with the community members on Twitter, follow folks with the same NFT PFP, and go to Discord to check out the latest roadmap announcements and community conversations. If your NFT is the current hot trend, you get email notifications every few hours that someone is bidding on your NFT.
The entire NFT journey is dopamine hit after dopamine hit, an insane roller coaster ride. It can even often feel like buying a lottery ticket. Yes it could go to zero, but what if... what if I strike the jackpot? This lottery ticket analogy most directly applies to 'unrevealed' NFT projects. Everyone has a chance to get the ultra-rare piece in the collection that can sell for many multiples the original price.
Checking rarity attributes is one of the most fun parts of NFT collecting. You browse a piece and check the % rarity of each 'trait'. For a typical PFP or profile picture collection, traits could be the skin, the outfits, the eyewear, the weapons, and even the background. The number of traits itself can be an indicator of rarity as well.
Platforms like Opensea have rarity filters as well, giving rise to specific collector markets like 'zombie' punks, 'gold' apes, 'TV head' cats, or 'trippy fur' dogs. There are also rarity tool websites these days that show you the rarity ranking of your NFTs. An entire cottage industry is mushrooming up around this new and strange hobby.
Of course, the converse also happens when it doesn't go your way. When you buy and the floor price goes down, it hurts. When you sell and the floor price shoots up, it hurts even more. The only thing you had to do was to hodl, and you fumbled the bag with paper hands. Losing makes you want to recover your losses, ape in even more, or pivot to other projects.
This is where it becomes a bit like gambling. The variable reward dynamic is so powerful here. And we know that the variable reward is the secret ingredient to getting hooked on products. It is tough to resist the allures of NFTs once you've taken the red pill and jumped into the rabbit hole. Okay, I've done enough writing for the day. Time to head back to the 'Opensea' to ride the waves.

What do you think about how America deals with guns versus how Great Britain handles it? Is either one better?
That’s an awfully controversial question, anon. Luckily for both of us, the hate mail should be limited, since no one follows this blog.
Let’s go over what we know. We know that Great Britain practices very strict gun control. We also know that he homicide rate in the UK is 1.20 per 100,000 people. In the US, it’s 5.35. Going by the UNODC numbers, that’s more than 4x what Britain has. Neither geographic area nor population density accounts for that.
We also know something else. The CDC and the FBI’s Uniform Crimes Reporting program both say that in the average US homicide, the weapon of choice is most likely to be a handgun. Roughly 13,000 people are killed in the US every year, 60% by firearm and 50% by handgun. In the United Kingdom, however, the Office of National Statistics reports that shooting only makes up about 5% of homicides.
The facts, as I understand them, point to the conclusion that gun control saves lives. I support the right to own a small personal firearm to defend yourself; however, the idea that “the solution to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” is a fantasy. Pure and simple The best way to handle gun violence is preventative, not reactive; it is focused on preventing the “bad guy” from becoming armed, and it is not focused on arming the “good guy.”
And as someone who grew up in the south, I think most gun owners agree with me. There’s always the cowboy who insists he’ll protect his family with a Galil, and there’s always corporate mouthpieces like the NRA who love to tell you that the police can’t save you and that your only hope of fighting off the criminal hordes is a firearm - but those people don’t represent most of the gun owners I know.
Most gun owners I know favor mandatory training and waiting periods, background checks and universal registries, and enforcement of the laws that already exist (especially where trade shows and the like are concerned). Because most gun owners are responsible, and would rather a bad guy not be able to get his hands on a gun than be in a situation where it was their firearm against his.
TL;DR, I think we could learn something from the UK.
