Tumblr was my first place I posted my art and although things looked grim a couple of years back, right now tumblr is the only platform I use that has been consistently adding features that improve the user experience. I’m really happy to hit 50k on here first.
Thanks for following!

STATUS UPDATES: GOING INTO 2024
2023 has been rough for me in all manner of ways but I will say it has been very fruitful with regards to my writing. I managed surpass my goal of 100k words, reaching an unfathomable 150k at present, and I’ve even managed to hit a big milestone when it comes to my following! I’m extremely grateful to all my readers, both those that have stuck with me and those who are new, and I wish I had adequate words to really express that. but going into 2024 I will likely be writing less frequently than I did this year. this is due to my own health, and a multitude of other problems that I can no longer keep on the back burner.
plenty of you have seen mentions of hospital visits and procedures on my blog, and while I’m not very comfortable oversharing about medical stuff I do want to be transparent about the fact that I will be posting fics less because of it. I’ve been in and out of semi hiatus for the better part of 4 months but I was always awful at sticking to it. next year I want to actually give myself grace, and take care of my body.
please do not fear!!! this resolution actually aligns perfectly with my writing goals for 2024. I want to focus on lengthening my word counts. I’d love to post fewer fics, but to have said fics be 25 to 50k respectively, rather than to post a lot of 1 to 15k fics. mostly I want to work on my own impatience when it comes to writing, and berate myself less for what I think I should be doing writing-wise. I will still be around on here, and I always want to talk with you guys (and read whenever the mood strikes!!), the biggest difference is I’ll have longer projects, and you’ll have to wait for them (though if I’m honest I will likely still post a shorter fic here and there lol).
I appreciate the patience a lot of you have already shown me this year, what with my random breaks and gaps between posting. you have all been so so kind and generous with your praise and I wouldn’t be here, writing and sharing, without that support. I love you all and wish you well going into the new year!!!!!

UPDATE 9/2/23
Wow, it's almost fall and I'm still kickin', so here's a proper update about what's been going on with me. I do feel great most days, and with Halloween in season around the US, it makes me very happy. As far as stroke recovery goes, my leg has a newly made brace and my walking in general has greatly improved the past few months. I really don't roll my left foot anymore, in other words, my foot can go flat instead of landing on the ankle and possibly causing injury.
My arm is still mostly nothing but a couple weeks back I was able to move my shoulder again so there's hope. I also got a home electrical stimulation device so I give my arm and hand a jolt for an hour everyday. With time, I feel confident i'll recover.
A great help with my recovery has been the amazing @dagdasgoddess , a fellow young stroke survivor who has been watching out for me and offering encouragement every day for a couple months now, exactly when I needed it. Mentally, stroke recovery is pretty damn tough but most days I feel positive about it, with great thanks to her.
And now on to some business. Shortly before my stroke I was planning on celebrating the 10th anniversary of my blog (which would have been in December of last year, but I was still in the hospital, obviously...) And one of the things I was going to do was photograph and review all the smt demon figures I have, using my special diorama table. I got around to starting the project a couple weeks before the stroke, naturally starting with the Leonard figure. Here's one of the pics:
Tumblr media
I also made something of an anniversary banner, just because, I guess:
Tumblr media
I also want to talk about some milestones reached, starting with some follower counts. By December last year I finally surpassed 2k followers, so thank you so very much. This is after Kanekos Crib Notes quickly dwarfed my own blog followers shortly after its establishment in like 2014. But now my own blog is even ahead of kcn, as undoubtedly its current annual schedule limits its growth and reach. (But hey, it's almost October, aka KCN MONTH)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last milestone is above: my Stealing Knowledge blogger has reached half a million views! Unbelievable, thanks for reading and sharing over the years! Identity crisis part 3 remains the most viewed, with over 50k on its own.
Finally, I want to talk about the future. Another 10th anniversary plan was to try and monetize the blog somehow, probably via a Patreon for new articles and such and many other ideas, maybe even doing YouTube videos to answer asks instead of them being all text. I have lots of other ideas too, but they'll have to wait until my arm works again. So instead of monetizing the future, for now I'm just going to ask y'all kindly to chip in for the blog's past. I'm amazed at how much activity the blog still generates from--let's call it "legacy content".
Tumblr media
To that end, I have set myself up a kofi account where you can show your appreciation for that "legacy", kuwabara, kuwabara, if you'd like. All money earned will go towards paying down bills accrued during my recovery, like my hyperbaric treatments. In perfect honesty, it's been around 3000 US dollars so far. Don't feel obligated to contribute and thank you all for still sticking around with me despite my relative inactivity. And if course, continue keeping @sorenblr busy if you wish.
I would also not expect my own recovery before next year, that's just stroke for you. Thank you all!!!!!
p.s. I was featured as a stroke survivor again on another therapy facebook post:

A Court of Scars and Shadows has hit 50k!
Tumblr media
(No reposts on any platform please)
I was going to wait until Gwynriel week to post this but I just couldn't resist celebrating this incredible milestone by posting some art I commissioned from the wonderful Ene - inspired by their mission at the Summer Court.
Thank you to everyone for following along, commenting and leaving kudos on the fic. It's been so much fun and I can't believe there are only a couple of chapters left. Big thank you to @captain-of-the-gwynriel-ship the best beta reader and editor to ever exist.

dev outlines + 1500 follower milestone!
i'm so overwhelmed and i'm overjoyed. honestly, shocked tbh. i cannot believe 1500+ of y'all follow me and enjoy in my silly lil stories! but unsure of how to celebrate, so a lil poll to gauge possibilities:
it's looking like:
by the grit of sandpaper will be 7-10 chapters and i just broke my own heart outlining the rest of the fic. miscommunication is my angst jam and boy did i counteract all the softness i'm sprinkling in the fic. excited to see how y'all react, i've been lovin' the reactions so far. it WILL have a happy, sappy, fluffy ending
the melting point is still giving me trouble, idk why i can't focus on it when i do have it all sorted out and just have to flesh out the scenes. hoping to conclude this fic by the end of this month. i have other frankie ideas but i think i like reading about him more than writing, because there are so many amazing frankie fics out there
return the favor should be seeing it's end relatively soon as well. with only a handful of chapters to deal with each the david episode, the hosptial episode, and the return to jackson; we're looking at about 40-45 chapters total. i have a lot planned for it and will move on a little past the show and games first timeline. idk if i will do a second part for the events in season and game two. i kind of want to ignore the big bad things and have them all live happily ever after
garnish is still in my head all hours of the day. chef joel is beside me every time i step into a kitchen. want to revisit them with some snapshots
of beskar and kyber is my official baby now. my toddler learning how to walk and i can't keep track of all the things i want to do with it. but as it sits, it looks like it will be my only wip soon enough. i have so many scene ideas in a nearly 50k document for our dear tin can and san

when comes the dawn monthly update {12.31.2023}
HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL!! And here's to the final update post of 2023 :D
THIS MONTH'S UPDATE
DRAFT → 10,308 words! I made it past the 10k milestone guys! It's not a lot, but considering how flaky I am with writing that's more than I expected. I've also convinced myself to try writing more scenes out of order so I don't get so bogged down with all of the transitions/connecting scenes. It's helped keep my motivation up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OUTLINE → Made some big deviations from my outline when I was drafting...mainly that I wasn't following it.
NEW POV WHO THIS? → Major character NIKEPHOROS (aka NIKE) has just been upgraded to POV CHARACTER STATUS! I realized that there were some aspects of the plot that, realistically, Fenice would not have the opportunity to experience unless I create some really contrived circumstances. So to fix that, I'm recruiting Nike as the POV character to get really deep into the whole Hesperian rebellion mess. It does make me worried that readers may start perceiving the two leads being married as the start of a romance when...it honestly isn't.
BLOG STUFF → I posted a simplified family tree of the vi Aetiers! Simplified since it only goes back a few generations, and also because I omitted like 90% of the consorts that married into the family and their children
UPCOMING
I'll be cleaning up my taglist in January! I'll also be consolidating my general taglist and my WCTD taglist, since WCTD will be my main focus for 2024.
I'll be posting both Fenice's updated character introduction post and Nike's introduction post
GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR
Reach 50k words on the draft!
Create and stick to a manageable writing schedule. My stretch goal is to have a 30 minute-1hr writing session every day, but realistically I want to try having a writing session for at least 4 days of the week. I might even log them here to keep myself accountable
To give myself permission to just write, even if it's mediocre.
Well, that's it from me. We'll see where all of these goals end up at the end of next year.
How about you guys? What are your writing resolutions for 2024?
TAGLIST UNDER THE CUT (ask to be +/-)
GENERAL → @charlesjosephwrites @bearunicorn154 @seasteading @writting-in-blood @trapped-inadystopianovel @inky-duchess @thats-my-type-writer @serpentarii @myhusbandsasemni @aphaimaniis @writinglyra @belialwrites @amoranza @pseudepigraphic @mel-writes-with-her-dragons @uppoffringar @fantasydisease @sourrcandy
WCTD → @zmlorenz @andiwriteunderthemoon @ryns-ramblings @marchdove @cielnocturnes @wren-is-writing @lord-fallen @tragicbackstoryenjoyer @bloomingwrites @marrowwife @prosayst

saw a post about omgcp taking place during peak vine years so:
ransom and holster have multiple vines that go absolutely viral, and they hold it over everyone else’s heads for weeks. when they actually surpass the 50k follower milestone, they end up getting so overcome with attention that they hold a meet and greet in downtown boston. when they get there, there’s a crowd of mostly 13-16yos with some parents mingling along the edges, and that’s when they find out their vines went viral mainly with teens.
shitty has one (1) vine that goes sorta viral, and it’s a vine making fun of the toxic masculinity in locker rooms. it actually makes it’s rounds on twitter where a few users make…interesting comments about the ‘stache.
lardo only posts vines every once in a while, and a few do decent numbers. but really, most of her internet following comes from her art instagram page, where she met her first girlfriend her freshman year at samwell. the girl dm-ed her and they met up and they actually even made a vine together. lardo never took that vine down.
bitty loves vine. it’s no twitter or youtube, but he loves it all the same, and he’d never admit it but when holster and ransom gloated their virality, he was jealous. not, like, jealous jealous, but jealous enough that he made four extra pies that night. and maybe a few passive tweets get posted between pies. he never does end up having a vine go viral, but he eventually reaches a point (the day vine died) where he doesn’t care anymore.
jack doesn’t get vine. the rest of smh chirps him to hell and back when he doesn’t understand vine references.

JoeInCT passed a milestone, with more than 40,000 followers. The blog’s archive, going back to May 2014, includes over 50K images (yes, some are duplicates, but they deserved the replay) and fresh content gets posted almost daily. Thanks to everyone who actively shares this experience with me. I truly appreciate your likes and shares, messages, and comments. Cheers to you! - Joe

So rather than work on the pictures I still need to do for my own last milestone, I opted to participate in @sator-the-wanderer‘s 50k follower dtiys over on twitter, the terms of which were basically ‘lineless, up to three colors+black and white, and some kind of celestial theming or imagery’.  Vox’s crazy eye is pretty swell for the storm on Jupiter, don’t you think?

Thanks for following! It's crazy seeing the tumblr resurgence lately, since my last milestone was hitting 50k in March. I have a fun tumblr-only art series I really want to do but haven't had a chance yet. I will be posting a bunch of new phone wallpapers sometime soon though.

Fanfic ask meme: 🎯 🔮
🎯 Do you have a writing milestone you’re working towards?
I kinda wish I had an answer to this one. I don't do a ton of stat tracking. Tinderbox is over 50k words as of the last chapter, and the next one I post will be chapter 10... that's neat! It's the longest fic I've written, so every chapter is a milestone for me, sort of.
🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?
I'm currently suffering from a bit of both, plus some post-COVID brain fog I can't seem to shake, so I wish I had a better method.
The best writing advice I've ever gotten was to write every day, even if it's bad, because you can't get to the good stuff until you've gotten all the bad stuff out first. This really does work, but I'm not very disciplined, and the annoying thing is that you actually have to do it. What a drag!
The method that has been almost bulletproof for me is this: I write all my drafts in a document that I call "TITLE (Dumbest Version)" and I write it all in lowercase with careless punctuation in a Comic Sans-equivalent font. The scenes don't have to be in order. You can just write AND THEN SOMETHING COOL HAPPENS or AND THEN HE SAYS SOMETHING PROFOUND AND THEY SMOOCH ABOUT IT and move on. I also keep a scratch document with snippets of dialogue that I liked but won't fit in a particular scene. You never know where you might be able to repurpose an idea!
The other thing I'll say, though -- and I'm saying this to myself as well -- is that it's okay to take breaks! Fandom should be a hobby, not a responsibility or a source of stress. More than ever we're being bombarded by the idea that we should be maximizing our productivity and even monetizing our hobbies, and that kind of mindset can make a person feel so, so guilty for wasting time on one thing when they could be doing another. It's an easy trap to fall into, but it's important to remember that it isn't something you owe to anyone.
I'm very fortunate in that I have readers who are still following Tinderbox even though I've been drip feeding chapters for years. But I don't think that's a rarity at all. The story will be finished when it's ready to be finished, and your readers will find it. You'll be a better writer if you've taken care of yourself first.

It's been a while since I have done one of these and with all the new followers across my social media channels I thought it'd be a great idea to reintroduce myself. I've now just hit over 50K followers across my channels which is a huge milestone for me. I want to say a massive THANK YOU to all my friends, followers and author friends who have been supporting me over the last two years, it's been challenging at times when I haven't wanted to post out due to tiredness or illness and publishing deadlines, but the community and the spirit of everyone here has literally kept me going. None of this would be possible without the support of YOU. #indieauthor #bookstagram #booktok #contentwriter #wattpadcreator #inkittcreator #goodnovelauthor #kerrykennedyauthor

FutureCommPR Talks with Three Female Entrepreneurs
These Women Excel in their Leadership Roles
[November 27, 2023, San Francisco, CA] A gamer, a chocolatier, and a business consultant stand as extraordinary examples of innovation, resilience, and leadership.  At the forefront of their respective industries, these women have not only carved out distinctive niches but have also become living testaments to the transformative influence of women in business.  Each of these leaders has forged a distinctive path, showcasing the potency of determination and strategic vision in accomplishing remarkable milestones.  FutureCommPR sat down with these three leaders to find out more about their individual paths to success.
Brandii Grace, CEO of Games by Brandii (G.B.B.), boasts an impressive two-decade tenure in the gaming industry.  Her background features roles as a designer on AAA, console, and mobile games for companies like Disney, Activision, and Warner Bros.  She was also a programmer at Microsoft Games, helping to launch their most successful console system.  As a game design instructor for programs at DigiPen and the New York Film Academy, Grace earned the International Game Developers Association’s MVP award for her industry leadership.  She was also a founder of Versus Systems currently traded on NASDAQ.  “The success of the Barbie movie has shown us that if we want our stories told, we’re going to have to do it ourselves” Grace said. Leveraging her extensive experience, she embarked on her new venture – establishing a studio focused on creating games tailored for women (ThreeDaysGame.com).
There is a noticeable absence in the gaming landscape when it comes to addressing social topics that women can connect with.  “I started making games because I’m a storyteller at heart.  Games can serve as an unparalleled medium for conveying meaningful narratives about systemic issues, providing a safe space to explore diverse experiences” she said.  Rooted in real-life stories and dedicated to addressing significant social issues, there are two games currently in development “Redlined,” and “Three Days.”  “Redlined” is a narrative city builder that plays through a century of historic, real-world housing policies.  “Three Days” is a visual novel that will launch first.  It’s an edgy drama about love, loss, and pregnancy.  The inaugural game is slated for release in 2024, and Grace is actively working to secure a modest marketing budget of $50k.
Transitioning from the tech sector to healthcare, we spoke with Bridget Ludy, President, and Founder of Pivotal Health.  With heightened awareness on the importance of maintaining personal health via dietary habits, Ludy is preparing to launch a line of chocolate products that are sugar-free, kosher, keto-friendly, non-GMO, vegetarian, and suitable for diabetics.  Ludy has over forty years of experience in chocolate making and drawing from her own personal journey with a diabetes diagnosis, she identified a market need for gourmet-level chocolate products.  This realization fueled the establishment of her company (PivotalHealth.biz).  “We have developed a solution that provides a premium quality chocolate experience that delivers both a delicious taste and the health benefits of being sugar-free” Ludy said.  The diabetic population, currently at 37.3 million in the U.S., is projected to exceed 54.9 million by 2030.  Her product line has emerged as an ideal solution for individuals that are health conscious but still crave that chocolate treat.  The official launch is January 2024, and they are currently working to secure funding to scale production and bring their product to market.
Moving from healthcare to business consultancy, we spoke with Elizabeth Italiano, Managing Partner, at GTM Advisors (GTMAdvisors.com).  Italiano’s entrepreneurial journey commenced with her first startup Radian6, which was later acquired by Salesforce.  Following experiences with various early-stage startups, she found herself interested in working for herself and launched WNTD Partners, eventually paving the way for the establishment of GTM Advisors alongside her co-founders.  Specializing in diagnosing go-to-market (GTM) issues, the company is dedicated to guiding companies through problem resolution.  “We wanted to truly partner with our clients every step of the way from diagnosing problems to identifying opportunities through implementation of recommendations,” said Italiano.
The company offers bespoke solutions rather than cookie-cutter frameworks.  “Throughout my career I’ve had the opportunity to work in marketing, sales, customer success, and even accounting and I wanted to share those experiences and knowledge” she said.  The company’s original mission is still in place today, continued Italiano, “make a difference for our clients.”  The company launched in early 2023 in challenging economic conditions but has found themselves with a robust number of clients via their network and marketing efforts.  The keys to success for GMT Advisors have been to “test, learn, and iterate” she continued.  She encourages other entrepreneurs to ask trusted friends or mentors for advice.  She says that “tenacity is critical, and you need to have the ability to persevere through failures.”
The successes of these three founders highlight their creativity and resourcefulness but also underscore their unwavering commitment to a mindset of perpetual learning and adaptability.  This dynamic approach, responsive to the ever-evolving landscape of their respective industries, has played the main role in steering their ventures toward notable achievements.  As we look forward to 2024, the anticipated growth and expansion of these companies promises to be intriguing narratives.
