thinking about how so many parents who give their children to the jedi order did so because they want their kids to be raised safely, to have the care that their first family can’t give them, to be loved and understood by their peers and teachers and guardians; how much devotion and pain goes into that decision; and how that means so many jedi become part of the order due to the ultimate expression of love without possessive attachment

Self aware, out of season comedic banner of himself with another actor: check
Incomprehensible meme-like gif of two people dancing modern ballet with Ryan Reynolds' face photoshopped on them: check
Mystery buzzword caption ("manifesting"): check
I would argue Ryan Reynolds is at least starting out on here with the correct vibes

I know a bunch of people have made this point already but it really is remarkable how when talking about a thing they like it's all it's so anti-capitalist/anti-imperialist/progressive etc. but the moment someone criticises it for idk the framework through which it views the world/articulates its critiques/etc. it's suddenly all it's not that deep mate why're you taking it so seriously

Another library day! I got a decent amount done - and then considered doing absolutely nothing at all in the afternoon. The library had some of its rare books and manuscripts on display, which was very fun to go see.

MDD is so funny because if this was a redesign it'd be terrible because it's been like 4 years and barely anything changed, but Benson has just been rebuilt like.. 27 times because he cannot speak English. and no one knows WHY
He can speak Spanish though

OC drawings / painting because I haven't painted in a while. Unnamed OCs for a side project I'm working on. Extra info below the read more
Very quickly scrambled idea summary: The story of an abused girl running away from home set in a dystopia/futuristic setting where automations and humans are commonplace but there’s a societal divide. Humans are constantly at war with each other, using sentient AI as sub-class citizens, and mistreated robots are on the verge of starting a war of their own. While on the run she trips over a corpse in the snow, but it's not really a corpse but rather a combat-machine robot that escaped from the facility it was being created/held in and really has no sympathy or understanding of humanity. They end up traveling together on the run as fugitives because it's easier to run away if you have the guise of a ‘guardian’ figure aka the robot for the child and for the robot everyone thinks he’s a funny-looking nanny bot so they become less suspicious.
AR-50N (The robot, name subject to change): Created as a war machine in an age of sentient AI, it escapes the facility where it was being held with a hatred of humanity and a mission to assassinate key figures in society in order to completely dismantle it. After a kill-switch is activated after it's escape, becomes immobilized in the forest and snowed over to be extracted. However, a young child finds him and removes the chip that tracks and paralyzes him, freeing him, and thus proves herself useful for the first time.
Unnamed Child, (9-11yrs) appearance and name subject to change: The 'trouble' child of a wealthy contractor, this girl decides to run away when the oil-slicken streets and cold forests start to look safer than home. Tripping over what she presumed to be deactivated automation in the snow, she attempts to scavenge it for parts to pawn off for some food money, only to take a chip out which disables said robot, waking it up. It's mean sometimes and scary, but she's faced worse, and since robo-nannies and bodyguards are common, no one would bat an eyelash if they traveled together for convenience.
Unnamed OC (The Hacker Code Named Kudzu, 26-27 yrs old) A brilliant hacker and climate activist, this character is deadset on using and promoting technology to help the planet and each other, even if this means dismantling damaging structures from within, and some other maybe not legal methods. Although she doesn't appear in the story for about a season's worth, she will eventually find a shut-down war bot and an inconsolable, distressed child in her apartment after they broke in for refuge, and decides to help them.

"We are not gods," Aphrodite says, sweet boyish smile turning into something untouchable. "We can't create something from nothing. When I create my garden, I look at what I have to work with, first."
Deathmask blinks, frowning despite himself. Aphrodite's grin turns impish again, like he's about to suggest some sort of prank for them to pull on the rest of the Sanctuary.
"I'm pretty," he says, almost teasing. "People think that's the same as meek and docile, like a flower they can pluck."
Cosmos burns between them, and from the ground a flower blooms, soft red and impossible to identify.
"But you're not meek," Deathmask says.
It is a rare day, when he compliments Aphrodite outright, and it shows in the way the boy smiles—wide and crinkly around the eyes, like a gift just landed on his lap. He tilts his head, looking at Deathmask with enough fondness to kill, and in the ground the rose grows thorns harder than diamond.
"I told you. I don't create from nothing. Now try it."
Deathmask doesn't know how to create. Not like Aphrodite was taught—the things he shows his victims aren't meant to stay in the waking world: they go up in smoke, lingering only as much as nightmares do. Aphrodite's roses, much like half of the vegetables of his gardens, stay and bloom and ripen when left alone to their devices.
It's a gift Anchise—naive, still, clinging foolishly to an illusion of the world—used to envy more than almost any other. But today Deathmask watches Aphrodite make something real out of something true, and knows with desperate certainty that he can never do the same.
It doesn't matter. Aphrodite's roses are his: they are memorable and as beautiful as they are terrible, and that's why he's known for them. Deathmask creates nightmares the world has seldom seen, and steals faces to put on his walls and make something fearsome out of something scared—but what is the point of using truth?
No one here would notice another grave.
(He does not ask Aphrodite for lessons again.)

French (teaching) resources
Hi everyone! I've taught beginning and intermediate french at the college level for the past two years and have accumulated a lot of PDFs that may be helpful + made some reading/listening activities that I wanted to share.
if you self-study, this may be helpful as well, especially when it comes to grammar practice.
Here is the link to the google drive folder
I am happy to answer questions as I am able.
Some notes:
grammar:
largely from: Grammaire progressive du français, (niveau avancé) | Contrastes : Grammaire du Français Courant | some (rather old) McGraw Hill French 2 and 3 texts | and various places online
SOME of these have answers. some do not. unfortunately, I don't have access to Contrastes right now to scan the answers. When I do, I'll try to upload them.
Sorted generally by what they are (adv/adj, articles, pronouns etc) however, the file names are NOT the clearest. i'll try to go through and fix those when I have time.
You'll notice that the two named texts are advanced grammar books - I adapted these when I used them in class if I needed to, or just used some of the activities on the page.
I also highly suggest UT Austin's resources here
activities:
WARNING: I created these myself so there may be the occasional error or weird phrasing in questions etc. Phrasing may also be strange due to the level it was created for.
The formatting may be a bit funky because I copied from word so my full name wouldn't be on them.
song activities are fill in the blank or comprehension question exercises. they have the lyrics and some vocabulary translations with them.
song activities - I often showed the music video but you could just play the music if that works better for you
song activities - these are typically excerpts and not the whole song. most do not have the time stamps, but the lyrics should help you figure that out.
video or reading activities are typically comprehension questions. some have my instructions for using them in class, others are just the text/video and questions.
Some of these are harder than others (songs go faster/grammar involved is more difficult) so check before you use.
