Think of You Later in my Empty Room// Calum Hood
Tumblr media
Hello friends! It's been an absolute dream getting to co-write with Crystal again - it's been far too long! There's not much to intro here - as we mentioned, this series originated with us daydreaming about lighting up and getting down with our guys and for Cal, a lazy day at home seemed so natural, and its me so we made it a lil emo for ya.
I hope you checked out @kindahoping4forever's blog for Hit of Dopamine, Higher Than I've Ever Been, which is the Ash installment, and you'll want to go back and check out the verifiably unhinged Luke part tomorrow.
Warnings: Boyfriend!Cal, angsty!girlfriend worried about missing him when he leaves again. significant use of weed, high sex, oral sex, anal play, cum play, dirty talk containing strong language

It’s a lazy afternoon in bed, in the middle of a lazy day in the midst of a lazy week. Calum’s fingers tangle in your hair as you lay in his lap and you giggle softly as you look up at him, eyes warning him to be careful but also asking him not to stop touching you.
You hum contentedly to the softly playing playlist in the background, feeling your boyfriend’s eyes fixate on you as you stretch out in one of his favorite t-shirts. Your gaze happens upon his packed luggage by the door, a silent reminder of the topic you’ve both been trying to ignore, and you try not to let your face fall but judging by the sigh he lets out, he definitely noticed.
“We can talk about it if you want,” he offers.
“I don’t want,” you say stubbornly. “Anything outside of this room, outside of this bed doesn’t exist to me right now.”
He chuckles, smoothing his hand over the top of your head. “Baby… it’s only gonna be a couple of weeks. And then you’ll be on the road with me.”
You pout, “You just got home.”
“I know, love. And we’ve had a great week together, haven’t we?” You stay quiet, not ready to concede your point, so he continues. “We both knew the schedule when the tour got planned, a week to recharge between legs… knew it wasn’t gonna be easy.”
You sigh, “Cal, I can understand it and accept it and still be sad about it. I’ve just now gotten used to you being here again… I like having you here to talk to, to share things with… just to get a hug when I need one…”
“I miss those things when I’m away, too,” he reminds you, pulling your hands to his lips so he can kiss your wrists. He grins brightly, trying to cheer you up. “But it’s only a couple weeks until you get that time off and you can join me… I’m very glad your passport finally came.”
You can’t help but reach up to caress his raised cheeks. “Yeah… I’m looking forward to it. Really,” you admit, smiling back at him. “So much to do before then, though. Gotta get all my stuff together, all the stuff you’re definitely gonna forget to pack and want me to bring out with me.” You giggle at your own joke and giggle even louder at his pouty reaction to it.
“I know you’re teasing me but we should actually start seeing what all you wanna bring so we know whether or not we need to buy you a bigger suitcase,” he points out.
“So the rest of the week is gonna be busy is what you’re saying.”
“Yes, which is why we’re doing this today,” he says matter of factly, grabbing the bong off the bedside table, gesturing for you to pass him the lighter you’ve been fidgeting with. You toss it to him and sit up against the headboard next to him, watching lovingly as he repacks the bowl from your morning smoke session.
Ever the gentleman, Calum offers it to you first, paying close attention as you position yourself over the mouthpiece, waiting for your cue to light the bowl. You end up taking a pretty good hit and he grins at you as he clears the chamber for himself. You watch his nimble fingers wrap around the bong, gracefully lighting up and tucking the lighter into his palm as he removes the slide, inhaling a large hit and dramatically throwing his head back to blow it out.
You bite your lip, watching him reset for a second hit; his eyes are on you, watching you watch him, noticing your eye line is mostly on his fingers. He inhales and then pulls you in, first to shotgun the hit to you and then to slot your lips together for a kiss after you blow out the smoke. He offers you the bong and when you decline, he uses it once more himself before setting it back on the nightstand.
“C’mere,” he murmurs, patting his thigh. You climb up to straddle him, wrapping your arms around him, nuzzling your face into his neck. You let out a soft sigh as his hands rub up and down your bare thighs, eventually nudging your shirt up over your hips so he can give your ass a tight squeeze. He raises his eyebrows, surprised. “Forgot you’re not wearing panties,” he chuckles.
You smirk and kiss his neck. “What’s the point? You’re just gonna take ‘em off me anyway.”
“I like you naked… I like being naked with you too, is that so wrong?”
“Nah… you know I like our naked bods pressed together too.”
He shrugs. “They don’t even need to be pressed together… I just prefer ya naked.” He tugs the back of your shirt and you lean back, lifting your arms up so he can pull it off. His fingers trail over your skin as he removes your top and you shiver. “Love the way your body responds to my touch… spent weeks getting off to the thought of touching you again.” He drags his fingers across the tops of your breasts, along your collarbone, down your side and across your tummy as he whispers. Your body lets him know how much you love it by raising goosebumps over your skin and your nipples hardening.
You thread your fingers into Cal’s hair as he leans in to kiss on your neck, his stubble prickling your skin. He leans you back to allow himself more access to your body and he immediately takes advantage by wrapping his lips around one of your nipples. He rolls the other between his fingers and palms your breast, and switches, lavishing his tongue over the other side.
You gently scratch at his scalp and he looks up at you, sleepy, red eyes telling you how high he is. He grins before putting his attention back on your tits, sucking marks onto them before pressing a gentle kiss to each one and then kissing back up your neck. He engages you in a slow, sensual make out. His hands feel like they’re everywhere at once, all over your body while yours travel into his boxer to squeeze his ass. He eagerly shimmies them off, sitting up on his knees to toss them aside. “You’re so gorgeous, baby, never get tired of looking at you,” he coos, intertwining your fingers.
“Me? Look at you, bubba,” you sigh, looking him up and down, realizing how hard he is.
He takes your hand in his and moves them both toward his body, cupping his cock with his and your hand. “This is all you baby, you do this. Every damn time,” he explains. You bite your lip, keeping eye contact with him as he moves your hands, swiping his fingertips through your folds. “And I love that I do this to you,” he murmurs, holding up his wet fingers. He sticks them in his mouth and your chilled out brain is still processing that image when he starts moving much quicker than he has all day.
He grabs the super soft blanket from the foot of the bed and quickly shakes it out as he lays next to you again. You both watch, stoned minds fascinated, as the material balloons and flutters back down to cover your bodies, “Your favorite,” he mumbles sweetly, kissing your forehead before turning onto his side so he can drape his arm across your stomach and pull you in close against his chest.
The two of you snuggle together, alternating between whispering sweet nothings to each other and dozing off. Naturally, things eventually evolve into another sweet make out session and you can’t get enough of the slow, unrushed indulgence.
Cal enjoys touching you as much as you enjoy him touching you, which makes everything so much better. He softly moans, appreciating your body’s reactions to him, just like he mentioned. You lean in as he presses gentle kisses to your neck and sigh his name.
“Need you, sweet girl,” he rasps in your ear.
You rub your fingertips against his stubble and nod. “Yeah… need you too, handsome.”
He smooths his hand down your side, pushing his thigh between yours, moving his hand from your hip to your pussy to help him guide his cock in. Your breath hitches in your throat and your jaw falls slack. On a good day, he’s a tight fit, but when you’re high, you feel it extra. “Fuck,” you whimper as he sinks all the way in.
Concern colors his voice as he groans, “You alright, darlin’?” You nod, squeezing your eyes shut, breathing through the stretch. You turn your head towards him, looking for a kiss and his tongue is quickly in your mouth, trying to soothe you. He’s ready to reach for lube when you finally relax into him. “That’s good, baby,” he praises you.
Calum stays unmoving, buried in you, giving you more time to adjust and himself more time to strategize. If he thrusts into you, he knows it’ll feel too good and he’ll have trouble keeping things at a slow pace, which is not only the vibe of the day but something you clearly need. But if you move against him, he knows he’ll cum almost instantly and neither of you will get to enjoy the experience. You’ve been high with him enough times to recognize his dilemma and you offer a simple solution. “Just lay here with me, bubba,” you suggest. You add with a dreamy sigh, “Feel so good inside me.” Your eyelids are heavy as you turn to look at him, nipping at his nose before parting your lips for a kiss. He happily obliges and the two of you are soon caught up in an endless loop of soft open mouth kisses with curious tongues, while your fingers dance across each other’s skin, your bodies still intimately connected.
Your boyfriend is fully entranced with you and he wants more. One hand caresses your thigh while the other gently cups your tits, softly teasing your nipples. He groans softly into your mouth when his fingertips move over to your clit, gently at first. He feels how turned on you are and decides to add a little more pressure, and you moan quietly.
“You’re so wet, little darlin’.”
“How am I not supposed to be?”
He grins as you arch your back into him. “You know I love you this way… open, wet… love you high because everything feels so good to you and with you.”
“Caaaaal… oh… like that… please?”
“F’course darlin’.” He keeps sliding his fingers up and down your clit, varying it with circles every so often. You gasp at the sensations he’s given and your breath shift makes your pussy throb around him. “Ohhh…” Cal moans with you. “Mmm… baby, I think this is working for both of us.”
“It’s definitely working for me,” you pant, moving against him.
“You really like when I do this,” he mutters, sliding his fingers across your clit. “Your cunt squeezes so good…”
You moan at the action and his words, clawing at his arm with one hand, your other covering his at your tits. He lets you intertwine your fingers there and he holds you while he nibbles your neck and sucks your earlobe, all his cock still fills you, his hand working between your legs. He could not be more all over you than he is right now and you’re feeling completely overwhelmed by his attention.
His name spills from your lips over and over, he is the only thing you really know or care to know in this moment. You start pulling at his arm, trying to get him to stop rubbing your clit, even though you can’t put the words together. You turn your head toward him, softly whining, “Please, Cal… feels so good… don’t wanna cum yet.”
He slows his fingers down, speaking softly to you. “Ok, sweet girl, I can be patient if you can.” He holds his wet fingers to your mouth and you clean them, licking and sucking at them. “Sweet, sweet girl,” he murmurs, smiling at you. He wraps his arms around you possessively and the two of you lay cuddled.
You take a deep breath, closing your eyes to immerse yourself in all of your senses. Unsurprisingly, they’re being dominated by the love and comfort you find in Cal. You take in his scent, which is always calming to you. His even breathing in your ear, his little loving whispers, his soft lips against your neck. You run your fingertips over his arms, softly humming in response to his presence. Everything seems to be moving slowly in your hazy, lovestruck mind so you’re not sure how long the two of you have been laying here but you wish it could go on forever.
“Calum… bubba,” you sigh quietly. “I love you… I love you and I love being full of you…”
He gently thrusts his hips in response, whispering in your ear, “And I love filling you, darlin’… And I love you. My best girl.”
You reach one hand back and thread your fingers in his hair. “Think I’m ready to cum for you, handsome.”
Calum uses one hand to pull you into a kiss, the other finding its way back to your clit. You immediately arch against him and he takes the opportunity to cover your face, neck and shoulder with wet kisses, groaning into your skin as he goes. Overwhelming you again.
The orgasm shouldn’t be a surprise but it feels like it comes on suddenly and it’s incredibly intense. You whimper and whine as you tighten around him and he’s sensitive enough from the weed that it makes him cum too. “Oh my god, Cal,” you breathe as you feel his cum spilling into you. Your nails dig in anywhere you can reach and you bite his arm where it holds you across your shoulders.
“That’s my sweet girl,” he huffs. “Always so good to me, shoulda known you’d make me cum like that.” He gently nibbles along your jaw.
“So good, love,” you murmur, turning into him for a kiss.
You lay wrapped up in each other for a while but you both get a little restless as the high starts to wear off. “Should get you cleaned up darlin,” he remarks. You clench around him as he pulls out and you close your eyes, giggling at the loud groan he lets out at how good it feels. You expect to feel the bed shift from him getting up to head to the bathroom but it never does and you turn over to see what he’s up to.
You find him digging through the bedside table, finally pulling out a baggie of pre-rolled joints. He lights one and takes one, two puffs before passing it to you. He watches you finish a hit before he’s pushing your thighs apart and settling between them. He leans back up for a quick kiss and to grab the joint from you, taking another hit before placing it back between your lips.
“I love seeing you like this… open… messy, my cum dripping out of you,” he groans. His fingertips slide through your folds and he licks the mess of his release off of them. You moan and put one arm behind you to prop you up so you can enjoy the show. You love when he gets like this. His tongue slicks through your folds, immediately teasing your entrance. “I never get tired of the way we taste together.”
You use one hand to lift the joint to and from your lips, the other stays threaded into Cal’s hair as you watch him noisily eat his cum out of you. After a certain point it’s obvious he’s moved beyond the task of cleaning you and he’s now just enjoying your body. He moans into you, nips at your thighs, holding them tight to leave marks, sucking hickeys as he goes. He sucks a particularly large one onto your hip while his thumb rubs your clit and you hear the pop when he pulls off. You blow out a smoke ring as you feel the stirrings of another potential orgasm and you wonder what you ever did to get this lucky.
Calum uses his head to gesture toward you as one hand is occupied kneading your ass, and the other is still playing with your clit. “Can I get that last hit, baby?” You take the cigarette from your own lips and stick it between his. Looking down at Cal, plump lips glistening, red and swollen from eating you out, killing a joint while still between your legs - you’re confident it’s the most erotic thing you’ve ever seen. You offer him the ashtray from the bedside table and he coolly tosses the finished joint in it before blowing his smoke at your pussy. “You ready to cum for me again?”
“Jesus, Cal… make me cum for you.”
His lips quickly wrap back around your clit and your fingers make a mess of his hair as he holds onto you tightly. His tongue makes quick, precise work of your clit and your reinvigorated high has you feeling overwhelmed once again. All of your senses are screaming Cal and only Cal.
He pulls your thighs over his shoulders, intertwining your fingers as he decides to start working his tongue inside you, instead of just playing with your clit.
“Holy fuck… Cal… please please please.” You whimper, panting out his name over and over.
“That’s my girl,” he hums, grinning against you. He works his tongue back in, as deep as he can and you buck your hips against his face. He teases, “Needy, darlin’?”
You chant his name, hips meeting every flick of his tongue. He’s both amused and turned on based on the giggles and groans he’s filling you with. He starts humming and ultimately that’s what sets you off. You swear you’ve never moaned louder in your life as you crash over the edge, hips grinding wildly against his face. Cal withdraws his tongue but slowly licks over your clit, bringing you down in a slow way. He lets go of your hands and grabs your hip, rubbing his thumb there reassuringly. You reach out, searching for his other hand, but it quickly registers that he’s using it to slowly stroke his cock.
He notices you’ve gone uncharacteristically silent as he quickly licks and cleans your second orgasm and when he pulls back to look up at you, he finds you with your face buried in your hands.
“What’s goin’ on, sweet girl?” He asks softly, gently pulling your wrists so you’ll uncover your face.
You stare at him, pink chubby cheeks all pink and sweaty, plump lips all red and swollen, a sweet look of concern coloring his expression. “Just… overwhelmed, I think,” you admit.
He settles in next to you, leaning down to peck your lips. “Wanna talk about it?”
You tuck a hand in his curls, smiling at him wistfully. “I’m not sure there’s much to talk about, Cal… I just feel so much for you… all this love and the emotion…” You trail off, trying to gather your thoughts, figure out how to articulate the lump in your throat. “Having all of your attention these past couple days… it’s just been so wonderful. You’re so wonderful. Make me feel so safe and loved. Known. And I think… I need to try and figure out how to comprehend… like… that’s all going away in a couple of days. I don’t know if you know, Cal… but I had a really tough time these past couple months without you. And now we’re going right back into that. You weren’t home long enough.”
Calum takes a long, deep breath, holding your gaze. You can tell he feels bad that you’re hurting and that it makes him feel even worse that he’s the cause and there’s nothing he can do about it. Fighting the frown that threatens to cloud his features, he gives you a soft smile and starts pressing kisses to your face. “I agree with you, love… I wish I was able to be here longer too. Feel like we were just getting back in the swing of things and now I have to go away again,” he shrugs. He squeezes your hand reassuringly. “But I promise you, ‘all of this’ isn’t going away baby. We’re gonna be back together again before you know it. And you know I’m always just a phone call or a FaceTime away. Even when we’re apart, I’m always there for you and you’re always there for me. That part doesn’t change.”
You nod, chewing your lip. You almost feel embarrassed at your outburst. It’s not like you didn’t know things would be like this when you started dating him. “I know, bubba… I didn’t mean to make it seem like you’re abandoning me or anything. I know you’d do anything for me, no matter where you are. I’m sorry.”
He does a double take, looking at you incredulously. “Sorry? Sorry for what?”
“I don’t want to make you feel bad about leaving. I want you to go on tour, I want you and the band to be successful enough so that you have to leave like this. You’re just doing what you love and I want that for you.”
He sighs, lifting your hand to his lips. “Baby, I also love you. And you’re just feeling your feelings. And all the feelings you just shared with me are completely valid. This is a lot to process. It’s a hard transition from being together all the time to not getting to see each other, especially since this is new for us.”
You give him a sad smile. “Are you about to tell me it gets easier?”
Calum rubs over your arm, grinning. “Oh, definitely not, darlin’, this part’s always gonna be torture,” he chuckles. “We’ll get better about dealing with it, though, I think. ‘Specially if we keep talking about it like this.”
You squeeze his hand on your arm. “Yeah, that’s true.”
“Thank you for being honest. Know it’s hard with me sometimes. But I’m glad you told me how you felt.”
You run your hand through his curls and lean in, needing to feel his lips on yours. He pulls you closer and you feel his still semi hard cock brush your stomach. You stay engaged in the kiss but let your hand wander down his body, wrapping around his length. He hums in response to your touch but after a few strokes, he reaches down to stop you.
“I’m OK, sweet girl. Let’s get up and get some food, maybe some sunshine,” he insists, moving your hand away from his body and interlacing your fingers. Your face must display your confusion because he chuckles as he kisses your knuckles before pushing up off the bed and crossing the room to the dresser. He smiles warmly as he tosses you a clean t-shirt and pulls out a pair of shorts for himself. “You’ve given me so much this week, darlin’, think it’s OK if we say you owe me one.”
You follow Cal into the kitchen where he sets to work making a couple sandwiches and cutting up some fruit; you make yourself useful by pouring two tall glasses of ice water and grabbing the lighter, pipe and weed jar off the kitchen counter to take outside. The two of you set everything up on the table in the shade and just as you’re about to take your seat, you feel his hands around your waist, pulling you into his lap. You relax against him while the two of you eat and you can tell he’s doing his best to comfort you in light of the conversation you just had. His arm rests across your lap, he presses soft kisses to your jaw and cheek, his hands shower you in affection, never leaving your skin.
“Sweet girl?” He murmurs into your ear after the meal is over. You cock your head to indicate you’re paying attention and he brings the jar of weed around to your line of vision, shaking it. “You wanna smoke this with me? Should be a little bit more of a mellow vibe than what we had earlier.”
Mellow definitely sounds good to you right now, so you nod and turn to so you can watch his hands work, carefully packing the bowl. You bite your lip and squeeze your thighs together, enjoying the show. You still feel a bit overwhelmed from earlier but after witnessing how thoughtful and attentive he was in navigating your emotions, how willing he was to talk things out with you, you’ve felt the sadness dissipating and instead be replaced by a need to be close to him, to show him your appreciation.
Calum must be feeling similarly because midway through his task, he turns and quickly draws you into a hungry kiss before nuzzling his nose to yours. “What a perfect way to close out such a lovely day with my girl,” he murmurs, running his hand up your thigh.
You brush his hair back, letting your hand fall to his neck and then chest. You play innocent, though you know exactly what rubbing your thumb over his nipple will do. You watch as his eyes close and his lips part, letting out a soft moan. “You’re so good to me, Cal,” you coo, leaning in to kiss his neck, sucking a mark onto his collarbone. He would typically stop you but it feels too good and he loves you too much right now for him to care.
The pipe lays forgotten on the table as your kisses trail lower, allowing your tongue to poke out and tease his other nipple. His hand comes down to hold the back of your neck as you tease him and you groan against his skin when you feel his cock twitch in his shorts. His fingertips run up your thighs, bunching your t-shirt at your hips as his touch continues the journey up your stomach and ribs, then gently over your breasts and nipples and back again.
After a few more minutes of this, he gently nibbles your earlobe and tugs at the hem of your shirt. “Can I take this off?”
You lean into his ear to whisper, “Can I ask for something in return?”
“Anything.” He says earnestly, tongue sliding over your lips before kissing them.
You look into his eyes. “Fill me?” You ask, reaching down to squeeze the tent forming in his shorts.
He lifts his hips with you still on him, kicking his shorts off and giving himself a few pumps to get fully hard. His fingers run up your thighs, ready to pull off your underwear but he laughs heartily when he realizes there’s nothing there.
“Still no panties?”
“Still no point,” you smirk, turning back around in his lap and lowering yourself down on his cock.
Cal hastily discards your shirt, burying his face in your bare shoulders as you continue to sink down on him. You let out a breathy sigh, wiggling your hips to get him bottomed out and your efforts are met with a low growl from him.
You gently turn his head toward you, giving him a heated kiss, finishing off by sucking his bottom lip. As you turn and press your back into his chest, his hands come around to cup your tits and he plays with your nipples, “I love the way you feel in me,” you sigh.
“I love the way you feel around me, baby. Tight, warm, wet… absolute perfect fit.”
You use his thighs for leverage as you push yourself up until just his tip is at your entrance and then you sink down as slow as you can possibly manage, intending to feel every vein and ridge of his cock. He pulls you back into a sloppy kiss and he’s practically shaking from the sensations you’re giving him.
“You OK, handsome?” You ask, teasing lilt in your voice.
“Do that again.”
You repeat your actions and he chokes on his moan. He settles his hands on your hips and though you expect him to try to get you to move faster, his grip just squeezes your skin as he sits back and lets you control the pace, groaning as he watches you take him over and over again.
“That’s it, baby… just like that,” he praises, head lulling back, closing his eyes to appreciate your slow work.
Your brow furrows in concentration as you move over him, thighs burning from going so slow but it feels so fucking good and he sounds so fucking good, you know the memory will be worth the pain later. You feel him lean in to cup your tits, giving them a nice squeeze before he turns your face towards his again, slotting your lips together.
His hand starts to drift between your legs but you bat it away, groaning, “Cal… let me do this, baby, let me make us feel good.”
He curses under his breath but obliges, leaning back to let you move freely. He goes quiet and you smirk to yourself, knowing he’s probably become hypnotized watching your ass jiggle and bounce as you ride him. You speed up just a little, trying to give him a bit more of a show, and sure enough you hear his breathing get heavier and feel a hand stroke down your skin, making a home for itself on the small of your back, wanting to touch you but also not wanting to obscure his view.
“Goddamn, darlin’...” He breathes, voice raspy and ragged. “Look so fuckin’ good riding me… don’t know why we don’t do it like this more often.”
You toss him a teasing look over your shoulder. “Because you’re a sweet boy who loves to kiss and look into your lover’s eyes… also the combo of staring at my ass and watching your cock disappear usually makes you cum pretty quick.”
Cal laughs loudly, “If you were seeing what I’m seeing, you’d be a lot closer to losing control too, baby.”
He groans loudly as you slow down again, rolling your hips extra slow so he can get a good look at your body engulfing him. “Well, next time we’ll have to make arrangements for that,” you tease, biting your lip as the possibilities run through your mind.
“Lotta things we’ll have to get to next time,” he teases back, letting his hand slide from your back to between your cheeks, fingers grazing your rim. He chuckles darkly at the way your body instinctively responds, how you fall forward, your back arching, your ass making itself more accessible to him. He loves that your body is asking him to continue but he wants to hear you say it so he plays dumb and asks, “Oh?”
“Yeah… please” is all you can manage but it’s all the prompting he needs. He sucks his thumb into his mouth and the wet noises of him coating it in spit, the loud pop when he releases it causing you to shiver in anticipation. You raise your hips, stilling your movements, holding your breath as you feel his hands on your backside again. He squeezes and massages your cheeks before spreading them and pressing his thumb against your hole. “Yesssss… Caaaal,” you sigh, overcome by the contrast of the dull pressure of his finger pushing inside you while his other four offer feather light reassurance just above the intrusion.
He groans as he prods further, getting lost in your breathy reactions and the bliss of watching your body accept even more of him. “Come on, little darlin’,” he rasps, squeezing your hip with his free hand. “Gonna keep movin’ for me?"
You whimper as you resume riding him, doing your best to set a new and effective pace even though you’re feeling completely overwhelmed by the knowledge Calum is filling both of your holes. His noises blend with yours, the two of you moaning together, you reacting to the deliciously full feeling he’s giving you, Cal doing his best to keep in control despite the fact that your ass looks unreal taking everything he’s giving you, that he’s feeling friction from his thumb on his cock and it’s bringing him closer to the edge than he’s ready for.
“Fuck, darlin’... can’t tell you how this looks… feels… gonna be thinkin’ about this every fuckin’ night when I’m gone,” he pants, a sense of relief washing over him when he hears the tone of your whines and recognizes that you’re about to finish as well. “So good… so fucking good, baby.”
You speed up, grabbing your tits, grinding down, chasing your orgasm, undecided whether focusing on the stimulation in your ass or your pussy is going to get you there fastest. Your body makes that call for you, deciding that Cal’s soft groans of encouragement are more than enough reason for you to cum. Your legs shake and you cry his name as your walls pulse around him, your third orgasm of the afternoon hitting you harder than you expected.
Calum thrusts gently up into you, happy to give you recovery time if you need it but also more than ready to follow you over the edge. You feel his hips start to stutter and you know you only have a limited amount of time to direct him. You quickly jut your backside out as much as you can and look behind you to tell him, “Cum on my ass, Cal… give us both something to think about while you’re gone.”
Another strained “Fuck” and a groan of your name are all he has time to respond with because your request has him immediately pulling out and pressing his cock to your cheeks without a second to spare. He struggles to keep his eyes open to take in the sight of his cum spilling onto your ass but as you moan at the feeling of his warmth coating your skin, he has to screw his eyes shut and vocalize with you. He gives himself a squeeze, milking out the last few drops before letting out an exhausted sigh and falling back against the chair.
He reaches over to the table, blindly searching for the napkins from lunch, finally finding them and quickly cleaning your messy skin. He squeezes your ass, massaging it more as he leans forward and presses kisses along your spine before wrapping his arms around your ribs so he can pull you back against him. He presses his face against your neck, still trying to catch his breath.
“You OK, bubba?” You chuckle, squeezing your arms on his.
“You’re too good to me,” he murmurs against your neck, inhaling deeply and pressing a few soft kisses to the back of your neck and shoulders.
“I just give what I get, love.”
The two of you sit quietly, naked and relaxing against each other, basking in the sun and the bond you’re feeling. You can tell your boyfriend is starting to doze off and you know if he goes, you’ll end up nodding off as well. “Let’s go back to bed, bubba,” you suggest. “That soft blanket and mellow weed are calling our names.”
You whine as you stand and stretch, hurting in all the best ways. Calum watches your every move and if you couldn’t feel his eyes on you, when you turn to look at him, the loved up grin on his face gives him away. You grab the pipe while he swipes up the discarded clothes and you wrap your arms around his middle as you walk back inside.
Back in the bedroom, you settle in against the headboard once more. You lean your head on Cal’s shoulder as he lights the pipe, smoke billowing around you. His suitcase is still by the door, staring you down, but it doesn’t seem quite as confrontational as it did a few hours ago.
"I'm gonna miss you," you say plainly. You peck his shoulder as you take the pipe from him. "I think I can be OK with that, though."
"Oh yeah?" He squeezes your thigh, lighting the bowl for you. He jokes, "What changed your mind, all the sex or all the drugs?"
You giggle, elbowing him as you blow your smoke out. "I just think days like today will make all the ones we have to spend apart a little bit easier… gives us something to remember, something to look forward to."
"That's true, that's a good point," Calum agrees, setting the pipe on the table and pulling you into an embrace. "Wouldn't be special if these days happened all the time."
"Yeah…" You agree wistfully. "Still gonna have one of these days when I come visit you though, right?"
Cal nods emphatically. "Baby, you're flying in on a day off and I'll tell you something right now, very first thing, the panties are coming off and not going back on for at least that entire day," he declares with a naughty grin.
You relax against him, missing him already but taking comfort in making plans and sharing jokes. "See, bubba, you're learning," you tease. "What would be the point?"

I love that lonely heart was the first song written by only 5sos, and it has themes running though 5sos5*, the first album pretty much fully written by them
I love how youthful it is, the way when you're young you don't realise how many people out there who are your kind there are, how many people might be able to understand you and so when one comes you hold onto them like a lifeline
I love how it was written right in the middle of youngblood and calm and all the different songwriting collabs they did for those, big names and big hits, then there's your funny little ballad with a big chorus lonely heart
I love whatever genre it is, I'm not sure actually what it is. I love its funny little overlay of 6 and 4 beats in a bar and you could write it in just about any time signature and it makes sense
I love the term 'native of mine'
I love how it mentions the way insomnia and sleep deprivation make one anxious and needy and lonely and irritable. i love the imagery and i love the way the pre-choruses are different and i love the drums and stacked vocals on the bridge
i think we don't appreciate lonely heart enough
*(dancing/room on fire: bloodhound, we're burning: older mv, idk how to survive if you leave it'll hurt me forever: older/moodswings, loneliness: red line/ydgtp, everything in complete mess, only you/someone just like you: flatline, someone who understands you and you can be fully yourself around: caramel/haze (haze also a word in lonely heart itself), capturing the blur of age 17-23: take my hand (luke and maybe calum were only 22 when it was written, michael just 23, ashton 24), being unable to watch/recognise what the other person is going through: bad omens, the pure desperation we hear in mm&i)

With all this 5sos talk would you every consider writing for one of the guys in the band?
Funny enough when I first read Mine. I read Asher as Ashton and not Ashton Irwin is my face claim for him in my head
OOOO! Honestly, I’m afraid I don’t know enough about them to maybe be able to do a blurb justice?? I know @lukesaprince has been a legend in that fandom and maybe she could give me some pointers or collab with me HAHAH
But stop I love that!! Listen, I’m down, Asher can be anybody!! I can see him as all of them honestly, which would make me sad if he dies AKSKAS

7. work i’m least proud of (and why):  accidentally. it’s just not my favorite i guess. it feels very rushed even tho it wasnt and i was just forcing myself to write in the midst of having no desire to
8. share or describe a favorite review you received:  @seasonschange-butpeopledont getting excited about marcus made me so 🥺🥺🥺 u have no idea. even tho it didn’t do very well, i was so so happy it made someone else happy

15. anything from your real life show up in your writing this year?:  absolutely 0% lmao
16. any new wisdom you can share with other writers?:  you’re definitely gonna look back on stuff you wrote in the beginning and think it’s literally the worst thing you’ve ever read, but you’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come and how much you’ve improved!! (and just remember nothing you could write will ever be as bad as onision’s actual real life books)
17. any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year?:  my god i’m so excited for the rest of the in an instant series!! it’s so hard to write (more so than i originally thought), but i’m so excited to finally be able to show yall what i’ve been working on with it!!!

Headliner Of The Month
Tumblr media
Hello, Carnival Goers and Performers alike, please give a round of applause for our Headliner Of The Month:
Our Wonderful Performer: Val @kookdiaries
You are our Headliner of the Month!
During this month, we want to showcase your incredible talent and skill and share it with the Carnival! For this month, we want you to pick three fics of yours that you’d like us to showcase, and we also wanted to ask you some questions so we can understand how you write, why and what you want to get across with your fics.
Tumblr media
Questions For You:
Three Fics:
Ten Out Of Ten
Just Dance It Off
Bound By Law
Tumblr media
When did you start writing fics, and why?
I started writing fanfic in high school, my shared works began with tv shows & movies I was interested in like Teen Wolf, AHS, and HP before moving into bands/musicians like 1D, 5sos, PTV, BVB, etc. I took a break my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college and then one day while scrolling youtube I saw a music video trending of seven insanely talented dancers and singers and immediately picked writing back up again as I got to know BTS more. Writing for me has always been a way to relax after a busy day, it’s comforting and I hope to enjoy it for a long time!
Tumblr media
What was your first fic? (provide a link if you want?)
My first fic & blog no longer exist, but the first one I’ve posted here would be Risk It All, a racing fic with Jungkook and Yoongi!
What is your latest fic?
The most recent fic I’ve posted is Bound By Law! It was a piece I wrote for an amazing collab that I was honored to be a part of and I’m super happy with how it turned out!
Tumblr media
Why did you choose to write about the fics you have chosen?
Ten Out Of Ten - This fic is special to me, it got me out of a very long writing funk and pushed me through a lot. It started out as something totally different, and was even meant for a different fandom, but when the inspiration finally hit me it felt like a Taehyung fic. I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice by rewriting it, but I’m so glad I did because it turned out even better than I was expecting and I’ve appreciated and continue to appreciate all the love it gets
Just Dance It Off - I’ve always loved the art of dance, I grew up in a low income area and this was never a class or activity offered so I grew up making up my own dances and “performed” them with my cousins. I lived vicariously through YN here because I always thought the dance career could have been interesting life path.
Bound By Law - Lawyer Hobi was consuming my every thought and I knew I needed to write something filthy to satisfy my fantasy LOL. Plus the idea of a naughty little lunchtime rendezvous is delicious. Sounds like a great time to spend a break!
Tumblr media
What was the most memorable line for you in each of the fics?
Ten Out Of Ten - Oh my gosh, it has to be the aftermath of the fountain scene, it’s more than just one line but it’s so awkwardly funny and you definitely feel the secondhand embarrassment LOL:
❝ “I considered heading to my class but I just felt too bad,” he says to you before turning to your professor. “It’s my fault her paper is soaked, I mean look at me. I am too. After an unfortunate turn of events - events that neither of us anticipated - it fell in the fountain and so did I. But you can see that…because I’m wet. Wet like water wet, not like the other kind of wet. That would be weird, considering… But probably more awkward than anything though. If I’m being honest. You know, my mother taught me that honesty is the best policy. So that’s what I’m doing here. Being honest…about me…and her paper being, uh, you know, wet…” ❞
Just Dance It Off - This short snippet is from when they’re working on lifts and Jimin keeps dropping her and YN has an attitude about it:
❝ “Get up.” He held his hand out for you and pulled you to your feet. “We need to get this number down, you know how important it is.”
“I’m aware of that,” you hissed, “But it would be nice if you weren’t letting me fall every two seconds.” You rubbed your aching side and tried stretching to see if that eased the pain.
“Just dance it off, you’ll be fine.” Jimin walked over to his stuff along the wall and reached for his water bottle.
You scowled. “Quit being ridiculous and hold me properly. I don’t have teeth anywhere down there,” you said motioning the space between your legs. “You can put your hand where it belongs without worry, you know.” ❞
Bound By Law - I’m a sucker for puns so the ending is one of my favorite parts!
❝ You chuckle lightly as you catch your breath. “If you thought lunch was delicious, just wait until you see what I have planned for dinner,” you say with a teasing wink. “You’ll be stuffed.” ❞
Tumblr media
What was your writing process like for each fic?
If I’m being totally honest, all over the place. I wish I was the type of person who had a well-organized system or process in place but I am a wip hopper. I write a couple of lines on one doc and if I get stuck I either skip the scene and come back to it later, or I jump over to another tab and write where I left off with a different wip. I usually have three to four different docs open at a time, and whatever fic I finish first is what I end up editing to post. There’s not really a schedule or anything like that LOL.
Tumblr media
What do you hope readers will take away from the fics?
I just hope that readers enjoy the time they spent reading my fics. Time is valuable so knowing that I have so many people that choose to spend time out of their day reading what I’ve spent so much time on means a lot to me. No specific takeaways that I’m purposely hoping for, but if a certain scene sticks with them or a dialogue line makes them laugh then I’m delighted!
Tumblr media
Why do you keep writing? What drives you?
I keep writing because I have a lot to say haha, and why not share it? I’m driven by the ideas that wander through my brain and inspire me to write each and every AU that I can. Having my support system of good friends and amazing readers is so appreciated and does wonders for motivating me to write and post!
Tumblr media
Any writing goals you’ve recently hit? Any goals that you are planning to hit?
A future goal is a secret project that something that I’ve been working on for two years now, but it’s no where near complete so I’ll have to wait to share more! I’m also about to hit another fic milestone so I’m excited about that, and I can’t wait to celebrate when it happens~

05. DO YOU PREFER TO READ/WRITE LONG FICS OR SHORT FICS? :: while it definitely depens on my mood, i'd say i prefer long fics!! i love both reading and writing longer fics, because it truly gives you more time to get to know the characters and the story and see how the whole thing develops. slow burn all the way!!!😩 there's nothing better than a 20k fic that leaves you breathless when you finish it. writing longer fics is more satisfactionary for me too, because it gives me more space to express myself and show the backstory and everyones intentions!
06. WHEN DID YOU START READING AND WRITING FICS? :: both when i was 12! which was quite literally 7 years ago 😭 i started reading 5sos fanfics when i first got into them and my first fanfic experiment was a luke hemmings fic if i remember correctly. it was in slovak lol but then i found english fanfics and started basically learning english from them. i had a little break from writing (for like 2 years lol) and since then i also wrote for the dolan twins😭 aaand then i switched to kpop!
08. DO YOU LIKE TO JOIN EVENTS/EXCHANGES? :: i LOVE joining those!! I met a lot of my online friends through collabs, events and exchanges:) i always have a lot of fun writing for collabs and events as well, because they give me a lot of inspiration haha
15. WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART OF THE WRITING/EDITING/POSTING PROCESS? :: that part when you post and the tags dont work and it takes 37 years to fix it and find out whats wrong and then edit the post so it finally shows up in the tags<3 but i also hate coming up with the summary because for the love of god i can never come up with anything interesting or exciting 😭

i love that you routinely find new music! i was making my album bingo card for the swiftie night next week and had to resist the urge to put multiple albums by the same artist bc i just…don’t venture out that much 💀 also just found out that 5sos wanted about 5 collabs/feats on calm but nobody responded 💔
since you also like taylor, which of maisie’s covers of her songs are your favorites or which ones would you like to see her cover in the future?
No I get what you mean, I need to get on that but IDK how to put photos so I'm just going to write the name/artist on mine. I have my comfort artists for sure (taylor, marina, 5sos) but I try to find smaller artists because often, they write their own music and I love songwriters above all else. Their shit is personal and relatable. I found this woman named Hannah Brier who has some very cutesy folksy sounding songs out, like violet and despite of that I wouldn't have found if I didn't have my playlist routine.
I think I'm going to have to go with I'd lie or betty idk why but i'd lie has such a chokehold on my heart the amount of dopamine I get from hearing that song is amazing and maisie's voice goes well with the yearning needed to appropriately cover the song I think. And I'd love to see a better than revenge cover but that's because i'm a sucker for a better than revenge cover. i loved olivia's for example.

event masterlist || my masterlist
YouTube video: Ashton being in love with Y/N for ten minutes straight.
The Infamous Intro
Ashton wrapped his arms around you from behind as you spoke, “Hey guys! As you can tell, I’m in LA right now!”
“The place she should be living,” Ashton jumped in.
You rolled your eyes, “Do you ever shut up?”
“I haven’t seen you in six months, so no, I will not shut up.”
You tugged his arms from around you, and he quickly pouted. “I’m asking for thirty minutes. Then, you can tell me anything you want.”
Ashton huffed, “Okay.” He gave you a quick kiss on the cheek before he walked out of frame.
The Interview Question
“We have a bowl of questions here. Nothing too personal. It’s just some get to know you type of questions” the interviewer placed the bowl on the table, “All you have to do is read the question out loud and then answer it. Who wants to go first?”
Ashton leaned forward as he reached his hand into the bowl. “May as well,” he muttered.
He unraveled the paper, reading it to himself quickly. “Who is my celebrity crush?”
“Oh, this should be interesting,” Luke laughed.
“Well, it's not because it’s Y/N,” Ashton folded the paper and playfully tossed it back on the table.
“That’s cheating! She’s your best friend,” the boys complained.
“No, it’s not! She is a celebrity, and I love her. There’s nothing wrong with that. A crush doesn’t always mean you want to date them.”
Same Question: Two Years Later
“You guys have been on the scene for a little while now.” The interviewer pointed out, “Awards shows, parties, tours- meeting all kinds of celebrities.”
“Life’s a party,” Calum said.
“It sure seems like it. Now that you’ve mingled and met a lot more celebrities… Who are your celebrity crushes?”
“Easy. Y/N,” Ashton blurted with a clap.
The boys shook their heads in amusement as they leaned back. The interviewer tilted their head in confusion and asked, “Y/N? One of your best friends?”
“Yeah. She’s the sweetest person I know. No one has a more pure or genuine heart than her. She’s always picking me up when I’m down. She deserves some love, and I’m happy to give it to her.”
El Tejano Dance Video
“I don’t know why I decided that it’d be good to bring you along,” you confessed as you looked down at him.
He laughed, laying out on the floor as the song softly played in the background. “It’s because I have great suggestions.”
You tried to pull him up out of your way with no avail. “Great suggestions? When did stop being so sexy become a great suggestion?”
“When I decided that I don’t want guys getting any ideas about you. The belly dancing is...” Ashton began stuttering over his own words.
You raised an eyebrow with a laugh, “Cat got your tongue?”
Ashton fell silent, a red tint forming on his cheeks as he tried to play it off.
“Could you scoot over so I can try to work out the kinks? Don’t want to kick you in the face.”
Ashton slid over, resting his back against the wall while you started the song over.
*I met a girl at El Tejano, we danced. To Spanish covers of Nirvana, we danced*
You stumbled over your feet, almost falling to the ground. “Shit!” you exclaimed with a huff, “It’s that one fucking move.”
Ashton bursted out in laughter when you threw your hands up in frustration. “I told you it wasn’t working,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes, looking at him from the mirror. “Do you want to figure out this choreography? I’m sure the producers would love to see that.”
Ashton’s eyes widened as he brought a hand up to his chest, “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have no idea what I’m doing.”
“I thought you gave great suggestions?” you questioned, reiterating what he said a few minutes prior.
“No,” he shook his head, “I never do. Especially with this.”
You let out a triumphant huff. “Okay, then, be quiet for five minutes, and let me think.”
The silence only lasted for a few seconds before he spoke again, “You know it’s really hot when you try to boss me around.”
You gave him a pointed stare with no amusement apparent on your face. He pretended to zip his lips and throw away the key, mouthing, “Sorry.”
The Blooper
Your gaze averted to Ashton as he pulled up a chair and sat beside you. “What the hell are you doing?” you asked.
He gave you a childish grin. “I wanted to hangout with my best girl.”
You gestured to the camera. “Well, I’m kind of in the middle of something.”
He shrugged, “I don’t mind.”
“Ashton, can you please leave?” You tried to push him out of frame with no avail.
“No,” he laughed.
“What will it take for you to give me five minutes?”
He nudged you with a small smile. “Let me take you on to that new restaurant tonight. I know you’ve been dying to try it out.”
”Deal. Now, disappear,” you shooed him away.
He got up, grabbed the chair, and asked, “Are you going to cut that out?”
You laughed, “I don’t think so, Ash. Everyone needs to see how annoying you are.”
~~
You tweet out the video with the caption: It’s only fair that I get one, too, right? I love my boy!
Ashton smiles to himself as soon as he reads it.
You love him. Platonically, of course, but it still means everything to have you say those words.
“What are you smiling at?” Calum asks, walking behind Ashton as he throws on a shirt.
“Nothing in particular,” Ashton closes Twitter, but it isn’t fast enough.
Calum sighs, shaking his head, “I still don’t understand why you haven’t made a move on her.”
Ashton gets up to start stretching before they go on stage. “She’s my best friend. I’m not going to fuck that up over some stupid crush.”
“But it’s not a crush,” Michael chimes in, “You are so in love with Y/N that it’s physically hard to watch.”
Ashton rolls his eyes, “I’m not in love with her, okay?”
“You bought her a fucking personalized diamond pendant necklace, but you’re not in love with her,” Luke looks at Ashton in amusement.
“I’m pretty sure you bought the camera she uses for her videos, too,” Michael points out.
“You don’t even buy us that good of gifts,” Calum laughs.
Ashton pauses, trying to figure out the right way to explain those presents, but he comes up with nothing. “Maybe I like her. That doesn’t mean she likes me back,” he shrugs.
“Do we have to go through all the things she did for you? I’d be surprised if she wasn’t in love with you.”
Ashton huffs, letting the conversation die as they all do their own pre-show rituals.
As it gets closer to time, the boys make their way out of the room, leaving Ashton in there last.
“We go on in 15!” Ashton hears Luke yell as the door to the room opens.
“I only need 5!”
The door closes and Ashton’s eyes widen as he turns around. “Y/N?”
“Are you expecting anyone else?” you laugh, walking over to him.
He pulls you into a tight hug, breathing in your scent. “It’s been too long,” he mutters, “I missed you so much.”
“I missed you, too, Ash. You get all famous and don’t come to see me anymore,” you joke.
Ashton scoffs, pulling back from you, “Planes go both ways, you know.”
“It was your turn, jackass.”
He can’t wipe the grin off of his face as he looks at you. You look more beautiful than ever. He swears that every time he sees you, in pictures or real life- you get more beautiful.
“Ash? Are you with me?” you wave a hand in front of his face with a look of concern.
“Yeah!” he clears his throat, “yeah, I just- you just- you look amazing.” He gestures to your outfit that fits you in all of the right places.
“Ten minutes!” Michael pokes his head in to inform you both, leaving as quickly as he came.
You and Ashton start making your way offstage. “How long are you going to be on tour with us?” he asks, skipping beside you as he gets his last stretches in.
“Just the rest of the tour,” you say nonchalantly.
“Are you serious?”
You nod with a laugh, “Why would I need to lie? I hope you don’t mind sharing your bed, though.”
His heart skips a beat. “Yeah! That’s perfectly fine!”
You both fall silent. So much that both of you want to say, but unsure of how to say it.
“Ash! Let’s go!” Calum yells, looking back at the two of you.
“Go kill it out there,” you give him a soft smile, “We’ll catch up more later.”
Ashton grins at you before jogging to meet up with the boys.
“You should’ve kissed her.”
“Shut up,” he mutters.
As soon as the concert is over, Ashton rushes over to you immediately. “I should have kissed you,” he blurts, the adrenaline still coursing through his veins, “Before I went on stage, I should have kissed you. The boys told me that I’d regret it, and I really do.”
“You’re rambling,” you grin.
“What? What are you talking about?” he asks.
“You ramble when you’re extremely nervous. Do I make you nervous?” you tease, tugging him down to you.
Now that his lips hover inches aways from yours, his voice is barely above a whisper, “I mean- not normally, no. I just- I don’t want to fuck everything up.”
“Then kiss me.”
Ashton takes no time to close the space in between the both of you, wrapping his around around your waist to pull you closer than physically possible. You melt into the kiss, running your hands through his hair.
You pull apart at the sound of cheers and chants from the boys. Ashton lets out a laugh as you hide your face in his shirt.
“Could you guys kindly fuck off?” Ashton looks at them as he rubs your back.
They hold their hands up in defense, walking away. Each of them muttering about just being excited.
You look up at him with a childish grin as the footsteps get farther away. “I didn’t think our first kiss would have an audience,” you laugh.
“Me either,” He chuckles, stealing a quick kiss before letting you out of his embrace.
You both walked hand in hand to the changing room with smiles stuck on your face.
“How about we go out to a local diner tonight? Maybe take a stroll in the park? And I’ll ask you to be my girlfriend before the night is over,” Ashton suggested.
“Sounds amazing.”

one thing i love about lighter is even though it's a collab and they didn't write most of the lyrics, behind the happy vibe there is still the 5sos emotion and themes to it. references to colours being brighter (and i've said before about the use of 'black and white' and 'colourblind' in calm evolving into 'darkness turns to gold' and several other colours on 5sos5, then now there is this). like it's not just an airy pop song with lines like 'when the world is heavy as stone' 'when i'm hollow' and it's easy not to pick up on those if you're just looking for a bop to listen to even when you are listening to the lyrics--but when it's the happiest song they've put out in almost a decade (and possibly the only happy song luke has ever properly sung lead on) it's such a triumphant story that it exudes and I can't stop thinking about that

there’s a ghost in the back of this room

“Ashton, why does your fridge say ‘stop being an idiot’?” Ashton glanced over to where Luke was staring at the fridge door in mild amusement.
“Oh, that’s just Calum - ignore him. I usually do” Ashton rolled his eyes as a picture fell off the wall as he finished speaking, the thud causing Luke to spin around, eyes wide.
“What was that?”
“I just brushed past the picture and knocked it off, that’s all.”
Luke narrowed his eyes at Ashton, the older man chuckling as he hung the picture back up.
“Come on, let’s watch this damn movie you don’t shut up about.”
Why did you tell Luke to ignore me
The question was on Ashton’s fridge the next morning, the letters a mishmash of colours and cases. Ashton pinched the bridge of his nose as he read it - only he would get a self conscious ghost living in his house.
“Calum, are you here?”
A cupboard door opened and a mug floated down onto the counter a few feet away from him - Ashton took that as a yes and shoved a pod into his coffee machine before grabbing the mug and pushing the button.
“I was only messing with you, Cal. Besides, you’re my ghost, it has nothing to do with Luke.”
Ashton watched as the letters on the fridge rearranged themselves, sipping on his coffee and humming at the bitterness dancing on his tongue.
Do you not want your friends to know about me
Ashton groaned internally, how could he explain this to his house ghost without offending him?
“I think they’d be pretty freaked out if they knew I lived with a ghost. You saw Luke’s reaction to you knocking that picture off the wall. Besides, I like keeping you a secret, you’re mine.”
It’s pretty hard for me to be yours when you’ve never even seen me
Ashton had in fact seen Calum. Or at least a photo of Calum.
–
He hadn’t been in the house more than a month when he started to realise that things kept happening. A photo moved slightly, the couch not being quite as tidy as he’d left it. The day Ashton had realised he actually had a ghost, he’d come home to find a new photo of him and Luke floating in midair.
“Um, hello?”
The photograph was dropped hastily, as though Ashton had scared the ghost he evidently had living in his house. After that, Ashton started talking to the ghost, even though he never got a reply aside from the odd knock on a table or a wall. It was while he was at a store grabbing something for dinner that he saw the fridge magnets. He grabbed all of the packets they had and drove home with a grin on his face.
“So, I bought you these today,” Ashton held out the magnets towards where he hoped his ghost was, “I thought maybe you could try talking back to me?”
Ashton felt a small whoosh of air as the ghost moved around the kitchen and he tore open the first packet, dumping the contents into a drawer he never used. Almost immediately the letters started floating from the drawer towards his fridge and Ashton watched as the ghost arranged the letters into a sentence.
Hello Ashton
“Hello, ghost. Oh - what’s your name? It feels weird calling you ‘ghost’.”
The letters arranged themselves once again.
My name is Calum
“Nice to finally know your name, Calum. How was your day?”
I’m a ghost Ashton
The brunette snorted as he watched the letters form another sentence.
Boring thank u for asking
Ashton laughed before spending the next few hours conversing with his ghost - with Calum - via fridge magnets. Calum had told him his full name after Ashton insisted upon knowing it.
“If you ever piss me off, I need to know what to call you.”
Calum Hood
It lingered there for a few seconds before ‘Hood’ was moved over.
Calum Thomas Hood
Ashton turned it over in his mind. Why did that name sound so familiar to him? He thought nothing more of it until he was at work a few days later.
STILL NO SIGN OF MISSING MAN
Police are still searching for Calum Thomas Hood, 24, who disappeared from his home 6 months ago. They’re urging anyone who may know anything about his disappearance to come forward.
Attached to the article had been a photo of the missing man, and Ashton knew it was his Calum. (He’d later cut the photograph out of the newspaper and taped it to the bottom of his desk drawer where no one would find it.) When he’d got home from work that day, Ashton had asked Calum how he’d died.
Not sure don’t remember
Ashton had debated telling the police that he knew exactly where Calum Thomas Hood - or at least his soul - was. He’d told Calum this one evening and a single word had appeared on his fridge.
Crazy
–
Calum was bored.
Sure, being a ghost meant that he could walk through walls and move things with his mind, but being bound to one place had its drawbacks. There were only so many times you could move things around waiting to see how long it took Ashton to find them before you’d moved everything.
(He’d even tried to swap all the furniture in Ashton’s bedroom with all the furniture in his living room, but Ashton had come home earlier than Calum had anticipated and made him put it all back to normal without any help. Moving things with your mind was tiring.
“You’re a ghost, Cal, how can you get tired?”
Calum had used all of the ‘i’s and the ‘l’s to make a middle finger on Ashton’s fridge door.)
Calum thought that Ashton could sense how restless he was. Ashton seemed to find new reasons to work from home during the day so Calum wasn’t by himself. Not that they could really interact unless Ashton was in the kitchen. They’d tried using a pen and some paper once, but Calum’s ghostly abilities didn’t seem to extend to pens. He couldn’t seem to get the pressure right to actually leave ink on the paper. Ashton had laughed at him before being met with a cushion to the face.
Calum missed being alive. He missed being able to go outside. He missed coffee. He missed being able to pet dogs.
Most of all, he was frustrated that he couldn’t remember how he’d even become a ghost. At night while Ashton was asleep, Calum tried to remember what had happened. (There wasn’t much else to do while your best friend was sleeping.) He’d get so far into the memory and then something would tug him back into the present moment. It was disconcerting. Calum could sense that he was close to finding out the truth, but something was stopping him. He’d tried to explain it to Ashton but ran out of letters and gave up. He’d debated asking the other man to buy more, but had resigned himself to the fact that it just wasn’t worth it. Ashton wasn’t going to be able to help him figure out what had happened - it was something he needed to figure out for himself.
–
“Hey Cal, how do you feel about me throwing a Halloween party this year?”
Although Ashton couldn’t see him, he knew that Calum had raised an eyebrow at his question.
It’s your house Ashton
“Well excuse me for wanting to make sure my resident ghost wasn’t inconvenienced.” Ashton smirked at his fridge as Calum spelt out a new message.
Appreciate it
Sure, have a party
Ashton cheered aloud and began reeling off his ideas to Calum, barely giving the ghost time to form a sentence. Calum shook his head fondly at the man standing opposite him - if Calum had been alive and met Ashton, he was sure that they’d have been best friends. When Ashton had finished speaking, Calum had one thing to say.
You already have a haunted house Ash
–
The party had taken Ashton weeks of planning and he’d dragged Luke into the prep early on in the process.
Calum liked having Luke around - he was fun to mess with. He’d taken to moving Luke’s glass from wherever he’d put it down and putting it on the other side of the room. Watching Luke’s bewilderment was a new favourite activity of Calum’s - Ashton had to keep taking the fall for his antics.
As Halloween rolled around, Ashton’s house really did look haunted. Every room was shrouded in black and there were cobwebs all over the place. (Calum’s favourite thing was the skeleton hiding behind the downstairs closet door that jumped out whenever you walked past it.) According to Ashton, the outside looked just as scary as the inside, but Calum had to take his word for it.
As people started arriving, Calum retreated into Ashton’s room. He didn’t usually go anywhere near the other man’s room, but Ashton had told him that it was okay if he needed to get away from all the people. Calum was worried about being walked through. Ashton had done it a few times by accident, and Calum had felt sick every time it had happened. That was something they were both eager to avoid, especially once Calum had explained to Ashton how it felt.
A knock on Ashton’s bedroom door piqued Calum’s interest and Luke’s head appeared around the door frame.
“Ash, are you - oh. You’re not here.” Luke started to close the door but stopped suddenly, pushing it back open and slipping inside before closing it behind him. He glanced around a few times, gaze running over where Calum was sitting on the end of the bed.
“This is going to sound crazy, but is there someone else in here?”
Calum cocked his head at Luke’s words; he knew that Ashton wasn’t particularly forthcoming with Luke about his existence. He shifted off the end of the bed, moving across the room to stand about a foot away from Luke. The blonde let out a breath as he felt the temperature in the room drop slightly.
“Calum, right?” Luke’s voice was quiet as he spoke, Calum smiling at the fact that Luke remembered his name. He picked up a pillow from Ashton’s bed in response, tossing it gently towards Luke. The other man caught it easily, eyes growing wide at the pillow that was suddenly in his arms.
“Holy shit, you are actually real.”
Calum let out a laugh at Luke’s words, amazement etched into the blonde’s face.
“I’ll be right back, don’t go anywhere.”
The blonde left the room, returning a few minutes later with an armful of stuff. He dropped it all on Ashton’s bed before turning around and facing the room.
“So, um, I bought a small magnetic whiteboard and some of the letters from Ashton’s kitchen drawer and I was wondering if we could talk about something?”
Luke watched in shock as the letters began arranging themselves on the whiteboard.
Hi Luke
What’s up
Luke sucked in a breath before he started talking.
–
Calum knew this was crazy.
Luke was crazy.
Just because it was Halloween, it didn’t mean that Ashton would suddenly be able to see him. Calum had always thought the whole ‘veil being thinner on Halloween’ thing was bullshit. Luke was insistent that it wasn’t, telling him that if anyone would be able to see him it would be Ashton.
“He’s in love with you, I think.”
The way Luke had said it had been so casual, but it sent Calum’s mind reeling. Ashton couldn’t possibly love him. He barely even knew him. Luke had dismissed Calum’s concerns before he’d even completed a sentence on the board. The more Calum thought about it, the more he was sure that he was the one in love with Ashton. He paused rearranging the letters for a moment as he stared at Luke.
Think I love him too
Luke had lit up with a smile at Calum’s words before slipping out of the room to find Ashton.
Calum was sure if he had any contents in his stomach, that they would be on their way out by now. He was so nervous. Luke was so sure that this would work, that Calum found himself believing the blonde man wholeheartedly. It felt like an eternity before Luke finally returned dragging Ashton behind him, along with another man that Calum had never seen before.
“Calum, this is Michael. He’s my boyfriend and he’s also slightly psychic.”
Michael blushed a deep red at Luke’s words, scanning the room before he locked eyes with Calum.
“Hello, Calum.”
Calum waved gingerly at the green eyed man staring at him, Michael breaking out into a smile. He glanced at Luke and nodded slightly, the blonde smirking at Ashton. Ashton was standing behind Luke looking bewildered as he watched the exchange between his friends.
“Can someone please explain to me what’s going on? Luke, how did you find out about Calum?”
Luke glanced over his shoulder at the brunette man and rolled his eyes.
“Please, I don’t know why you thought no one would find the picture you’d taped to your desk drawer. Coupled with the fact that you kept blaming ‘Calum’ for things. You weren’t exactly subtle, Ash. I put two and two together and did a google search.”
Ashton’s jaw dropped open as Luke spoke, Calum snickering at his reaction. Michael smiled widely at Calum and turned to face Ashton.
“You already know what Calum looks like, right?”
Ashton nodded slowly, fearful of where this was going.
“As we all know, the veil is thinner on Halloween, therefore allowing spirits to pass between the realms. I’ve never tried to bring an actual ghost through the veil, but there’s a first time for everything, right?” Michael rolled his shoulders as he spoke, turning back to face Calum. “Provided this goes right, we should all be able to see you. I mean, I already can. But Luke and Ashton too. Worst case scenario is that only I can see you, and this doesn’t work. You only live once though, right?”
Calum rolled his eyes at Michael’s words, bracing himself for whatever the man was about to do.
“Oh, wait.” Michael glanced at Ashton before looking back towards Calum, “Say something to me, Calum. I need to know if I can hear you already or not.”
Calum raised an eyebrow at Michael.
“You’re such a know-it-all, Michael.”
Michael broke out into laughter, Luke and Ashton looking at him in confusion.
“This is gonna be fun, nice to meet you Calum.” Michael smirked at him before cracking his knuckles, “You’re gonna fit right in with us all, I’m sure of that.”
“Michael, what exactly are you going to do?” Ashton’s voice was nervous, he didn’t like the fact that Michael could see Calum when he couldn’t.
“We, my dear friends, are going to summon Calum firmly into the realm of the living.”
–
Calum felt the air around him grow fuzzy as he watched the three figures sat on the floor in front of him.
“Now Ashton, I need you to imagine Calum standing right in front of you. Really imagine it. See him in your mind’s eye. You got it? Good.” Michael looked away from Ashton and back towards Calum. “Cal, whenever you’re ready, I need you to come and stand in front of Ashton. I’m 80% sure that this is going to work. It depends how well Ashton is visualising.”
The brunette huffed in Michael’s direction and Calum smirked.
“Is he always like this when I’m not around?”
Michael grinned at Calum before nodding and gesturing to the spot on the floor in front of Ashton.
“Whenever you’re ready, Calum.”
–
Holy shit
“Cal?” Ashton’s voice was barely a whisper as he stared at the man suddenly standing before him.
“Hi, Ash.” Calum blushed under the other man’s gaze, casting a look towards Luke and Michael who were both sat on the floor smirking.
Ashton blinked a few times before slowly standing up and reaching towards Calum. The other man grabbed his arm as he stood, helping to pull him off the floor.
“How - how are you corporeal right now?” Ashton looked over at Michael who simply shrugged in return.
“You must be really good at visualising. It was only supposed to make Calum visible and hearable. Whether or not he was corporeal was out of my control.” Michael pulled Luke to his feet as he stood up, taking the blonde’s hand, “Now, if you don’t mind, I need to go and make out with my boyfriend in Ashton’s spare room. Nice to meet you, Cal. I daresay we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other in the near future.”
Michael dragged Luke from the room, the blonde waving absentmindedly at Ashton and Calum as they retreated, closing the door behind them.
“It’s really you.” Ashton ran his hand up Calum’s arm. The other man was wearing the same clothes as in the photo Ashton had seen, Calum’s leather jacket feeling smooth against his fingers.
“It’s really me, Ash.” Calum brought a hand up rest against the back of Ashton’ neck. “It’s so weird to be able to talk to you and for you to actually be able to hear me.”
Ashton laughed quietly at Calum’s words, leaning forwards to rest their foreheads together.
“I can’t believe you’re really standing here and I can see you. Remind me to get Michael a case of beer or something.”
“Noted.” Calum grabbed both of Ashton’s hands, lacing their fingers together. “I’ve thought about being able to touch you for so long.”
Ashton hummed quietly at the other man’s words, the realisation finally setting in.
Calum was here. He could see Calum. He could hear him. He could feel him.
“Ash, I need to tell you something.” Calum nudged Ashton’s head up so they were eye to eye. “I’m pretty sure I’m in love with you.”
Ashton smiled softly at the admission.
“Pretty sure I’m in love with you too, Cal. I mean, it’s kinda complicated because you’re a ghost and all, but I really do love you.”
Calum searched Ashton’s face for any sign of hesitancy before closing the distance between them.

Event Masterlist
"I'm so bored," Calum complained, leaning back against the counter.
"Me too, but I have to train you how to close so you're not leaving early," you told him but you were just as bored as him.
Your parents had recently expanded the family business by opening up a second Cali-Cone Dream location in the touristy "historic district" downtown. Your dad's grandparents started the ice cream shop after moving to California from Missouri after World War 2.  They'd invested their life savings in the shop and helped build the boardwalk. You’d grown up in this shop, and since it was early in the season and still slow, it was up to you to train the new hires. It was a pain in the ass, but at least your parents weren't breathing down your neck.
"If you keep complaining I'll make you clean the freezer. You'll have shrinkage for a week," you teased him.
"Like you wouldn't find a way to fix that," he shot back, wiggling his dark eyebrows at you.
Calum was the only new hire you liked. Jeremy was a kiss ass to your parents, Rico was boring, and Amanda was dumber than a bag of hammers. The smartest thing to come out of that girl's mouth was her boyfriend's dick. You'd already told your Mom it wasn't going to work out when you'd asked her to cut lemons for tea and she came back with oranges. Calum, however, was funny, a quick learner, and great with customers, not to mention drop-dead gorgeous.
"How is it only 3 o clock? Can we play cards or something? If I stand here much longer I'm gonna keep eating ice cream, and this is supposed to be my hot girl summer," he pouted before giving you a saucy wink. He was a total flirt and you weren't complaining. Three weeks ago he'd barely said a word, but you two had become fast friends and he'd really come out of his shell.
"I don't think you have to worry about that," you laughed.
The dark blue, slightly too tight, uniform t-shirt accentuated his bulging biceps, broad chest, and golden brown tan. The Cali-Cone slogan, "The Thrill of the Taste" scrawled across his back in bright red letters kept giving you dirty thoughts.
"We could close early, maybe show me another of your secret spots." Calum leaned towards you with a smirk and you rolled your eyes.
A week ago you'd gotten tired of him whining that there was nothing to do now that the college bars were dead since most students went home for the summer. You'd taken him out with you after you closed up shop. You'd avoided the popular rowdy country bar, and the dark thumping underground hip hop club, choosing instead to head for the beach. You took him to a spot under the boardwalk past the large boulders known as "The Breakers" where the local police patrols usually stopped.
You brought your beach bag and a popup tent you could both lounge in so bugs wouldn't eat you alive. He'd managed to sweet talk a bottle of wine out of his landlady, who knew he was only 20. It wasn't very strong, but it made you giggly and warm. Perhaps Calum lounging next to you on the blanket had something to do with that.  After a few rosé flavored kisses his hands began to wander, and you had to put an end to it.  Calum started to apologize, but you told him that the only reason you stopped was that your cycle hadn’t ended yet.
After that, Calum laid back on the blanket and began to talk.
He told you he was in his second year studying music composition and theory at the Strozzi Conservatory. He'd recently broken up with his high school sweetheart, and it had been painful. As a result Cal decided to not go home for the summer, deciding instead to take a workshop on-campus teaching local teens. He was a bit lonely but looking forward to the tourist season.
"This is the first time I've had time to myself where I don't have to worry about what anyone else thinks about me or what I do," he told you, taking a gulp before handing you the wine to finish off. You were sitting up and he was laying across your outstretched legs looking up at you.
"Ooh the wild college years," you laughed. You had seen many sheltered middle-class suburban kids get the first taste of freedom away from their helicopter parents and lose their minds. "If you're trying to get fucked up don't buy anything on the boardwalk. I've got a friend so at least you know it's clean."
"Nah not like that, but good to know." Calum took a deep breath, looked up at you, and then away. The shadows from the small camp lantern made him look mysterious and brooding. "Can I tell you something? I feel like I can trust you." His voice was soft and he rolled on his side concentrating on tracing lines along the skin on your legs.
"You can tell me anything," you assured him.
"I want to--uh I guess experiment with different sorts of types of experiences with something new. I mean, obviously new. What I mean is, not what you'd expect maybe. Shit!" Calum rubbed his eyes and you held back a smile. "What I'm trying to say is that," he paused again.
"Calum, are you into guys?" You ask, not wanting to rush, but you were running out of time. You only had about half an hour before the tide would start coming in and you had to leave.
"Is it obvious?" He asked, his eyes wide.
"Nope, I wouldn't have guessed at all, but I've had this conversation with a friend before. I'm glad you trusted me enough to tell me, but we have to leave here in a bit." You checked your phone.
“So that’s it?” he asked.
“Dude, it’s not that serious. Tell me who you’re scoping out and I’ll let you know what’s up. That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun as well,” you told him.
He looked so relieved, and you could only imagine what it took for him to tell you that.
Calum sat up and you started rolling up the blanket. You packed up your beach bag and Calum held the lantern as you twisted and folded the tent in three quick fluid motions before sliding it into its bag.
"How did you do that so quickly in the dark?" Calum looked impressed.
"Practice, now come on, follow me, watch your step. It's slippery," you cautioned him.
It had gotten chilly and you were both shivering as you ran back to your car.
"You won't tell anyone at work will you? I know it's not a big deal but I don't want everyone in my business." Calum bit his lip and you could tell he was questioning his decision.
"Dude you're fine, but what made you decide to tell me?" The question slipped out before you realized it.
He looked embarrassed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I was hoping maybe you could help me out. I don't know how to read people and I don't want to make an idiot out of myself."
"Of course," you replied, reaching over to squeeze his hand. “Did you have anyone in mind?”
“Well there’s this lifeguard. He’s blonde and has a bird tattoo on his arm,” Calum told you.
You cringed, knowing exactly who he was talking about. “Sorry sweetie,” you replied, “ that’s Cody and he’s not only straight, he’s a complete jackass.”
Calum slumped and looked defeated. “Don’t worry sweetie,” you reassured him. “The summer is just getting started
A clap of thunder pulled you from your daydream.  If it was going to rain there was no chance business would pick up. You glanced over at Calum perched on the stool behind the cash register playing on his phone. His dark curls were falling across his forehead and your fingers itched to play with his hair. Being bored and horny was never fun and you were willing to bet Calum could take care of both. As if he could read your mind Cal looked up and caught your eye. The smirk that spread across his face let you know you were being too obvious, but you didn't care.
"If you keep looking at me like that I might forget I'm on the clock,"  Calum licked his lips and looked you over. "You're lucky there are cameras."
"Oh yeah? What did you have in mind? It just so happens I know all the spots the cameras can't see," you raise your eyebrows at him, challenging him to take it further.
The loud jingle of the bells hanging from the door startled both of you. You look up to see a familiar figure ducking through the door just before the sky opened up and began pouring rain.
"What's up Luke? Since when are you afraid to get wet," you teased the tall blonde walking towards the counter. You'd known Luke Hemmings for years, his dad was on the city council with yours and his mom taught sixth grade. He'd been a year ahead of you in school, and you'd both played varsity basketball in high school. He'd dated several of your friends, and before that, your older sister had a tumultuous relationship with his brother Ben several years back.
"Maybe I'm sick of the pool and want my old job back," Luke shot back. He'd worked three summers scooping ice cream next to you until he turned 18 and could work as a lifeguard on the beach.
"Sorry, dollface, I've managed to replace you, I even found someone better looking," you replied.
The Hemmings brothers were gorgeous and always had girls falling at their feet, but you'd never been that impressed. Not that it stopped y'all from hooking up on occasion, including once in the walk-in cooler after closing the summer before your senior year. It was a small town and you'd dated, hated, or hooked up with most of the guys your age.  Luke's history was more extensive than yours. He'd not only hooked up with you and many of your female friends, but you'd kissed many of the same boys.
He looked from you to Calum who was standing to your right suddenly engrossed in the patterns on the tile floor. You could see the flush on his cheeks and his leg was jiggling nervously. Luke looked Calum up and down, his blue eyes lingering on the younger man before shooting you an approving grin.
"I see you found a college boy. Can't say I blame you, much better looking than that ginger from last year," Luke snickered.
"I'm gonna go check the cooler," Calum told you, barely audibly before ducking in the back.
You looked at Luke who was as confused as you were before excusing yourself to follow Calum.
You barely made it around the corner before Calum popped out at you nearly scaring you to death.
"What the hell," you squealed as he pulled you into the freezer.
"That's the guy I was telling you about," he hissed as the door shut behind you.
"What are you talking about?"
"Remember when you drove me home the other night? You asked if I had anyone in mind so you could find out which team they played for," his voice was a panicked whisper, and his dark eyes were wide as saucers.
Then it clicked. "You were talking about Luke?" I asked, my voice louder than I meant for it to be.
"Why are you yelling? Yes, obviously that's him, except you told me his name was Dylan."
"You said tall, curly hair, with a bird tattooed on his arm. Luke doesn't have any tattoos, his mom
hates them," I replied, but doubted myself now. I hadn't seen Luke in ages, he'd always been a spoiled Mama's boy and maybe Liz finally caved.
"That tall drink of water has a hummingbird tattooed on his arm, but that's not important right now. Have y'all hooked up?" You nodded and Calum scowled. "Figures he would be straight," he sighed.
Your brain finally caught up to the situation at hand, and you had an idea.
"Listen to me Calum, you're gonna wait on him. Offer him a strawberry waffle cone, it's his favorite," you pushed him out of the cooler and back towards the front.
You popped your head around the corner and whistled making Luke look up from his phone. "I'll be out in a second. I keep telling Dad this freezer needs replaced, have one on the house, but try not to scare off my new employee please," you shoot him a stern look as Calum came around the corner behind you.
"I'll try not to bite, but I make no promises," Luke laughed before turning his attention to Calum.
You moved just out of their sight, but still within earshot to see if your little plan worked.
"So uh, yeah, the boss said you could have a free waffle cone. She said you like strawberry ice cream," Calum started out a squeak but he cleared his throat and continued, in a deep rough tone that gave you the shivers.
"Did she now?" Luke's voice dripped honey and you could hear him smiling. "I'm surprised she remembered, but she's good like that."
"That's why she's the boss," Calum was cautious, and you stifled a laugh. "Have y'all known each other long? Are you close?"
"Oh we know each other very well, and we've been close, very close sometimes. She's easy to talk to, I'm sure you know how it is," Luke answered and you had to put your hand over your mouth to hold back a laugh. You'd recognize that syrupy flirtatious tone anywhere, it was obvious Luke was seducing your new employee. You peeked around the counter to see Calum handing Luke his ice cream cone. A double scoop, perfectly dipped, pink and creamy, just barely starting to drip around the edge you watched Luke begin to lap it up while keeping his eyes on Calum.
The power flickered as Luke leaned back against one of the tables in the dining area, half sitting half standing, his long legs crossed at the ankle. He was wearing the black swim trunks trimmed in bright red every lifeguard wore on duty and a thin white reflective windbreaker unzipped almost all the way to his waist revealing his broad bare chest. You could see Calum fidgeting nervously with the ice cream scoop while trying not to stare. Luke was not making that easy, his lips and tongue working obscenely in a way that was starting to make you horny, and you knew what he was doing and why. Poor Calum didn't stand a chance. It didn't help that he'd worn basketball shorts to work and the clingy fabric made his arousal obvious even where you were standing.
You stepped back trying to figure out your next step. Your intention had been to introduce Luke and Calum but watching them together made your thoughts wander places they shouldn't. The rain was really coming down, sheeting the windows and sounding like pebbles being hurled against the roof. Daylight had turned dark as the storm really kicked up. You could hear the guys talking as you checked the weather on your phone. You were stuck here at least another 30 minutes as a big blob of red on the radar moved through your area.
"She said I dare you to kiss the person on either side of you, and I didn't know if I wanted to kill her or kiss her." You heard Luke's voice and realized you'd zoned out and you headed back towards the front.
You stepped through the swinging doors just in time to hear Calum ask, "why was that?"
"Because the girl to his left was my friend who was absolutely gagging for Luke's cock," you answered as Calum jumped and Luke laughed.
"What was her name? Crystal? Kristen?" Luke bit the tip of the waffle cone off and sucked the remainder of the ice cream out of the bottom, glancing at you before his eyes returned to Calum.
"Kirsten, you did end up sleeping with her, " you reminded him. "Tell him who was on the other side."
Luke licked his lips and grinned. "Keeeerstin, that's right, and that 4th of July we all did crazy things if I remember correctly. To my right however was the hottest soccer player in school who I'd had a crush on for ages."
Calum nodded and Luke's gaze flickered your way once again, his blue eyes bright and mischievous, before he continued, "I was freaking out when we kissed but then he ended up taking me back to his house and we fooled around on his sister's swing set."
You laughed along with Luke as you watched Calum realize what Luke said. His head snapped up, blinking rapidly and his mouth opened and closed refusing to find words before you saw him look at you, then Luke, and then back to you as everything clicked into place.
"Is that what strawberry ice cream meant? Were you setting me up?" Calum asked.
"Not a setup, but wanted to see if Luke remembered the code. Turns out there's not as dumb as he looks," you walked up to Calum stopping just inches from his chest looking up at him. "And you did say you were bored."
"What did you have in mind?" He raised his eyebrows at you, still unable to look at Luke.
“I mean, Luke likes strawberry ice cream, and so do you. I doubt we’re going to have many customers with this rain,” you told him.
“They closed down the beach because of lightning so no one is coming out,” Luke chimed in.
“That’s what I was thinking, so it sounds to me like the three of us have some time on our hands,” you replied. You looked at Calum and he nodded but his eyes burned into you.
“Are you sure you’re up for that?” he asked apparently reading your thoughts.
“I can handle anything,” you puffed your chest out and heard Luke snicker, but you didn’t dare take your eyes off Calum.
“I’m down if y’all are,” he challenged, finally looking at Luke.
Am I really going to do this? Your thoughts were racing and your heart was pounding as hard as the rain. CAMERAS you thought before remembering you'd been the one who updated the security system and there was a workaround.
Thunder crashed so loudly you felt it shake your bones. No one would come around today, and it made no sense to stay open or send Luke home in this storm.
"Calum, go make sure the back door is locked, Luke if you could flip the bolt and get the blinds," you told them before you ran back into the office where money was counted. Behind the desk was the breaker box and you flipped the switch that shut off the security cameras and half the lights.
You poked your head out at Luke and motioned for him to follow you towards the back. You bumped into Calum as he came back towards the front.
"Where are you going?" He asked
"Break room, even with this storm I'm worried about someone peeking in," you reply.
"Really?" Calum was skeptical.
"Around here you never know," Luke told him.
You flipped the light switch, but only two bulbs lit up casting the room in soft blue light with long shadows.
"So I hear you got a tattoo, Hemmings," you said, trying to break the ice. Calum looked even more nervous than you felt, and you silently asked Luke to take charge.
He winked at you unzipping his jacket and shrugging it off his shoulders. You noticed he was still lean and lanky but he'd definitely filled out, added some muscle definition. Sure enough, there on his right bicep was a small hummingbird.
"I can't believe Liz finally caved," you teased.
"Honestly I just went and did it, and then dealt with the consequences. She's still mad, but nothing I can't handle," he replied. Luke looked over towards Calum. "You have way more than I ever will, can I see them?"
Calum nodded and came up beside you. He started off nervous, but as he explained his tattoos starting with his parents’ initials on his hands, working up past his wrists, to the lovely bird with his sister's name, he explained when and where he'd gotten them. Some, like the thistle on his left bicep, had special meaning relating to friends and family. While others, like the spade and the horseshoe, were aesthetic choices.
"Is that it?" Luke raised his eyebrows and bit his lip.
"Nope," Calum smirked, warming to the other's man's attention. He reached behind his neck and in one swift motion pulled his shirt off over his head. You felt your pulse quicken and heard Luke suck in his breath next to you. Calum was brawnier, broad-chested with black ink on brown skin. Without realizing it you reached out to touch him, trailing a fingertip along what looked like a feather etched underneath his collarbone.
"What's this?" You asked, feeling your insides quiver when he turned his brown eyes towards you.
"It's a silver fern, my mom's Maori from New Zealand," Calum's voice was a sultry whisper.
"And this?" Your fingers slide down to the "Choose Life" on his chest.
"It's from Trainspotting and- OH," Calum moaned as you absentmindedly tugged his nipple.
"Do that again," Luke told you, his hand sliding down over his dick now a bulge in his black and red lifeguard trunks.
You tugged, harder this time, and were rewarded with a sound somewhere between a moan and a hiss. Calum licked his lips before his mouth hung slightly open as your fingers traveled to the other one, repeating the motion. Both men moaned in response and Calum noticed Luke palming himself through his shorts.
"Enjoying the show?" He asked with a slight smirk.
"Oh my God yes," Luke responded, squeezing his cock slightly. "All I can think about is the two of you sucking me off."
"I'm down for that," you reply. "What do you say Cal."
Uncertainty crept into his expression and he paused, "I want to but I've never done that before."
"If you want I can show you," you offered, the idea had you excited like never before.
"Is that ok?" Calum asked.
Luke's blue eyes went wide. "Fuck yes, please," he whispered.
You untied the drawstring on Luke's shorts and tugged them down past his hips letting his long cock spring free. Rock hard and leaking as you wrapped your hand around the shaft, you could feel his body react to your touch. You stood on your tiptoes and playfully kissed his lips before you sank to your knees in front of him.
You looked up at Calum who was watching your intently, lips pursed in concentration.
"You know what you like so start there. Personally I like to tease a bit to start off," you tell him, flicking your tongue around the tip. "You wanna keep it wet and keep it moving. I think spitting is gross but if you gag a little it gets everything nice and sloppy." You took Luke's cock in your mouth getting it slick and shiny as you bobbed your head, taking him further down your throat each time until your nose was almost touching his belly.
"Oh shit," you heard Luke's growl above you as you came back up for air. You continued pumping him with your hand as you looked up at Calum.
"Come on, you try," you beckoned to him.
Calum was eager now, as he kneeled next to you, looked up at Luke, and wrapped his hand around your much smaller one as you stroked Luke's cock together.
"Oh God," Luke moaned, the sight almost sending him over the edge.
Calum leaned forward and brushed his lips against the taut skin before his tongue darted out to get his first taste. Luke's knees started to buckle and he leaned back against the break table which was inches behind his thighs. Calum hesitated, eyeing the table before glancing at you, but both you and Luke knew the table could easily hold his weight.
"It's fine, keep going," you pulled back and gave his arm a nudge.
"Are you sure? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have no idea what I’m doing. I almost never do,” he replied.
"You're sucking a dick not disarming a bomb, just don't bite and you'll be fine," you told him with a giggle.
Calum swirled his tongue around the tip and you saw Luke grip the table's edge, his knuckles white. Calum began sucking, softly, and slowly before gaining confidence he built up a rhythm. Luke grunted, his eyes screwed shut and his chest heaved.
"Stop," he pleaded, "you're gonna make me cum too fast."
Calum pulled back with a pop. "I thought that was the point,"  he smirked up at the older man.
"God what I wouldn't give to let you both take turns riding me," Luke moaned, grasping his cock tightly, fighting for control.
"What's wrong Luke?" You reached up and ran your thumb along Calum's plump bottom lip. "His pretty mouth got you all excited. Thinking about how you're the first guy he's ever sucked off? About how lucky you are?
"You keep talking like that and you're gonna make me cum in my pants," Calum warned you.
"Not yet, I wanna help with that," Luke growled.
"We gotta finish you first," Calum grinned and got back to work. Luke cursed loudly as his cock disappeared down the other man's throat. Calum stopped and almost pulled back but kept going.
You looked up at Luke, he was staring down at the two of you with half-open eyes. You reached up and cupped his balls, giving them a gentle tug. That sent him over the edge.
"Oh shit I'm gonna come," Luke yelled, bucking his hips. Calum tried to swallow but he started coughing so he leaned back, cum dripping from his chin and splattering on his chest. You watched Luke fight to keep his eyes on Calum before they rolled back in his head as his knees shook and his breath escaped him in ragged gasps.
He sank to the floor next to the two of you watching as you pulled Calum in for a kiss tasting Luke on his lips. When you broke away, Luke was there kissing you first and then Calum.
"That was so good, let us take care of you now. I bet you're ready to burst. Let's see what we're working with here," he said as he reached into Calum's shorts. You both smiled as Luke pulled out a cock that was a bit shorter but thicker than Luke's.
"Damn Cal, you've been holding out on me," you purred in his ear as you moved behind him.
"I would've fucked you that night on the beach if you'd let me," he admitted.
"I was indisposed, but we'll have to make up for that," you tell him before you kissed your way up his neck.
"Raise up a bit," Luke told him as he pulled his shorts up before laying on the carpet. He positioned his head just under Calum's balls blowing on them as you reached around and massaged Calum's cock. "This is gonna be all I think about tomorrow at work. I'm gonna be rock hard sitting up in that chair just thinking about what I wanna do to the two of you."
A huge thunderclap seems to shake the building and the lights flickered as your lips found Calum's neck as you nipped at his skin. You'd been fantasizing about marking up his throat and couldn't resist leaving a mark. He whined in response and pushed back into you before moaning as Luke's mouth went to work getting Calum's cock nice and wet before sucking and humming on his balls. You continued to suck tiny bruises on Calum's flesh as Luke's mouth stayed busy alternating between working over Calum and talking dirty.
"I'd love to watch you fuck her before I come up behind you and take that ass. Imagine being between us, having your cock buried in her pussy while you're stretched and full," Luke told him and the idea gave you the most delicious thrill. The idea of Luke fucking Calum into you had you aching for your own release, but right now you wanted to make Calum feel good. You twisted your hand slightly as you stroked his cock.  Calum's head rolled back resting on your shoulder, moaning over and over as you kept one hand on his dick and the other tugged his nipples. You couldn't see what Luke was doing but you heard sucking noises between Calum's moans.
"I'm getting close," Calum warned you. "Oh God keep doing that," he gasped and you could hear Luke humming as he sucked.
You jerked him faster, concentrating on the tip, tugging his nipples harder as your teeth grazed along his shoulder.
He erupted onto Luke's chest with an "Oh God" that was both a prayer and an exultation. Luke quickly moved so he was sucking the tip and the two of you worked together to drain every drop.
Calum slumped back against you and you peppered his skin with kisses as you felt him shudder as he came down from his high.
"That was incredible, I don't think I can feel my legs," Calum said as he shifted so he was no longer kneeling.
"I bet," Luke laughed as he got up. He walked over to the sink in the corner by the refrigerator and grabbed some paper towels. He got himself cleaned up before bringing some back for you and Calum.
"Are you ok?" Luke asked when he noticed you were breathing heavily. "Do you need your inhaler?"
You reached out your hand so he could help you up. "I'm fine, that was just intense and I got excited," you winked at him as you stood up. He pulled on your arm and caused you to stumble and fall into his chest. He wrapped you in a cuddle and bent his lips closer to your ear.
"I haven't forgotten about you princess," Luke's words made you shiver with the anticipation. You could tell your panties were soaked and your core throbbed as Luke gripped your hips and lifted you on to the break table. He stepped between your legs and put this hand under your chin and pulled you in for a kiss. Calum was still on his tongue as it tangled with yours and you tasted his essence which was sweeter than Luke's. His hands tugged at your shirt and you broke away to let him lift it over your head. He kissed you again as you fumbled with your bra, unhooking it before you tossed it across the room. Luke's mouth moved to your breasts and you saw Calum still seated on the floor as he watched you with Luke, his eyes glazed over with lust.
When your eyes met Calum jolted out of his gaze and scrambled to his feet. You almost laughed as he tripped over his own feet as he readjusted his shorts, but at that moment Luke's mouth closed over your stiff nipple and the laugh became a moan.
Luke's fingers were clawing at your waistband and you lifted your hips as he pulled your shorts and panties down at the same time.
The rain was beating against the roof in sheets now, but you could barely hear it over the sound of your own heartbeat.
Luke spread your legs and stepped back to show Calum. "She how pretty and wet she is for us. We gotta give her something special as a thank you. Want me to show you how to make her squirm," Luke teased, running a finger in between your soaked folds, and you pushed your hips up with a frustrated grunt.
"Nah," Calum looked you dead in the eye with the cockiest smirk you'd ever seen in your life.
"Trust me, I know what I'm doing. I've been fantasizing about this for weeks," he was talking to Luke but his eyes were on you. "Tell me princess, do you taste as good as you look. I bet you're as sweet and juicy as a pink Starburst."
You don't even recognize the sound that escaped your lips when Calum's mouth moved between your thighs. His tongue danced and moved in ways you'd never experienced, curling inside you before swooping up between your lips and lapping up your nectar. His pillowy lips sucked on your clit alternating with soft cool puffs of air over your fevered skin.
Luke buried you in a flurry of kisses and you didn't know where each one was going to land, your mouth, breasts, neck, belly, shoulders, along your hairline or on your fingertips.
Calum was relentless, barely coming up for air as he buried his face in your pleasure. You felt like a live wire as your nerves danced under your skin while Calum's tongue found every pleasure spot. Your heels beat the table in time with the storm raging outside as your orgasm started to build. You wanted to praise him or cry out but Luke covered your mouth with his.
You arched your back almost slamming your head back on the table as Calum furiously worked on achieving your high. He wasn't going to let up until you were screaming for him, and you gladly obliged. Your climax hit you hard enough to see stars and your whole body let go.
"Damn baby," Luke's voice was in your ear but sounded very far away.
You tried to close your legs but Calum wouldn't let you. He held them open still sucking your clit his fingers buried inside you as he coaxed another orgasm out of you.  He moaned into your skin as you drenched his face, your thighs, and the table as you came undone. He didn't stop until you were whimpering from being overstimulated, and only then did he finally pro back.
He stood up and grabbed Luke for a kiss leaving the tall blonde as breathless as you were. The storm was still raging but your heartbeat was returning to normal. You sat up, a bit embarrassed by the mess.
"Sorry about that, can one of y'all get some towels?" You ask even though you hated to interrupt them.
"Don't apologize," Luke stroked your thigh, and Calum did as you asked. "That was the hottest thing I've ever seen." He looked over at Calum, "will you teach me how to make her squirt like that."
"Hell yeah," Calum answered as he gently cleaned you up. He landed a tiny kiss on your nose. "Thank you," he whispered, almost too softly to be heard. You reached down and squeezed his hand as you shared a smile.
"How about I help y'all close up and we head back to my apartment?" Luke asked.
"Great idea, we'll order pizza and see where the night goes."  You slid off the table, wobbled a bit but Calum wouldn't let you fall.
"Sounds like a plan, boss," Calum grinned. "Can we get ice cream too?"
"Sure, what flavor?" You asked as you pulled your shorts up and Luke tossed your bra to you.
"Strawberry," they answered in unison before you all cracked up.
"Oh this is gonna be a great summer," you called over your shoulder as you walked out of the room.

It was only years of friendship with Luke that stopped you from walking back out of the room, a scowl set upon your features.
“You want me to... what?” The last word was hissed dangerously and you felt a slim tug of satisfaction as the baby blue eyes widened, fear prominent as he backtracked over his words, trying to appease the anger he’d clearly ignited.
“Just, let me get you out on a date!” The words were hasty and Luke froze before groaning, his fingers running through his blonde curls before he turned his pleading eyes to you.
“What, go out on a date with you? Luke, I’m confused.” Your words made him pause for a second before rolling his eyes with a huff.
“You know I don’t share. Neither does Sierra. No, what I meant to say was let me set you up on a date. Just one, and then I’ll let it go.” The plea gave you a moment to think, eyeing him carefully as you thought over his words.
“Why?”
“Because you’re shutting everyone out.” Luke snapped, taking in a steadying breath. “Wait—it’s not that you’re shutting everyone out, but you’re not giving yourself a chance. Every person you’ve gone on a date with has burned you ruthlessly and if you keep this up, you’ll give up entirely. I know you. I know that giving up on something like the chance to be loved would hurt you. Badly. I can’t see you break your own heart like that.” His words were quieter as his hand had reached out to take yours.
You couldn’t fault Luke for his worry. You’d pulled away, unwilling to go out on nights out to see everyone coupled up, leaving you the odd person out. It stung and Luke truly knew you far too well.
“You promise that you won’t hurt me?” A small part in your mind hated how small, unsure you sounded. But after being hurt so many times, you were wary. And Luke knew that.
“After the last disastrous attempt at a relationship, I know better now. I have an idea that might work but you need to keep an open mind for me.” His arms had pulled you in for a hug and you allowed your head to rest on his collarbone, taking in a slow deep breath before pulling away.
“Alright.”
The smile that Luke gave you in return made you sigh exasperatedly before leaning up to kiss his cheek, a fond smile on your lips.
Luke used his advantage of you being wrapped up by him to push you towards the conservatory where you knew that Sierra had been waiting for the games night the three of you shared. Sometimes with other people but more often than not it was the three of you.
“He managed to convince you, then?” At her question, you groaned once he let you go so that you could sit down, taking his own spot next to his girlfriend and kissing her cheek in greeting.
“I take it this is a plan concocted between the two of you?” Came your reply in way of answering.
Sierra just laughed and dealt out the cards. It seemed that it was going to be poker tonight.
After two games, Luke had brought out the wine to be shared between the three of you. Just before the fifth game, he paused Sierra in her shuffling of the cards. This earned curious looks from the two of you, both of you sharing a look before turning to Luke.
“Blind date. Let me set you up on a blind date.” You eyed him carefully at his words.
“Does this include the date you want to set me up on or is it separate?” Your words made him roll his eyes at you. You held back from outright grinning at his reaction.
“Fucking Slytherin.” He muttered. “It would be included in the date I want to set you up on. One date.”
It took you a few moments, weighing up his words before realising that there was hardly any harm in letting him do this.
“Fine.” You bit out and his grin turned almost predatory, a look you’d never associated with Luke before.
“How about we make a bet? It’ll be a literal blind date, blindfolds and everything. However, you can’t take the blindfold off at all. Neither can they.”
“How about we play a game of poker to decide if this bet goes ahead or not?” And the grin turned into a smirk, the dawning realisation that this had been his goal. You glared at him.
“If I win, then the bet is in play. If I lose, we don’t and I won’t try anything like this for six months.” You could feel yourself rising to his challenge, to his bait. But you were stubborn and proud. And with the victory of the last two games in your corner, you felt confident.
“Deal. Sierra is the dealer, so you don’t get any ideas to cheat a win.” That made Luke laugh as he stuck out his hand and you sighed before shaking it. “And you call me a Slytherin. Asshole.”
Luke only grinned at your words as he settled back smugly, allowing Sierra to deal the deck without getting in her way.
“Where would this date be? Public?” You asked after taking a sip of your drink and Luke hesitated for only a moment, but you saw it.
“No. It’ll be dinner here. The less publicity, the better.” This made you raise an eyebrow at him. He grinned back.
“So I take it that having sex on the dinner table would be off the cards?” You’d timed it deliberately as he took a sip of his drink, clearly not expecting that response from you as he spluttered wine over himself in an attempt to stop it from spraying further. He scowled at you as you smirked.
“Fucking menace. It’ll be here so that you’re all comfortable and a rumour mill won’t start.” He grumbled as he stood up to head back towards the kitchen. You glanced at Sierra who shrugged as she held the cards, waiting for Luke to return.
“Don’t look at me like that, he’s doing it to protect your reputation. You’re close enough to him without actually dating him and so people are gonna be interested in how to get close. You know what he’s like.” And this made you relax a little about it.
You’d known Luke since you were kids. When he made it big in the music industry with his solo career, you’d followed him to LA barely a year later. You’d never been seen away from him and people had immediately assumed.
The assumptions had long since died, although the rumours still existed, there wasn’t any truth to them. But he’d been almost ruthlessly protective of you and your reputation from then on, so you never argued when he told you about a decision for something like this. It made you more determined to beat him, so you wouldn’t have to subject yourself to the date.
When he returned with a napkin, blotting away the excess wine and cleaning up, he took his seat and Sierra dealt out the cards. He held your gaze for a moment before picking up his cards and you did the same.
“Ready to lose, Hemmings?” You took a steadying breath to stop the smirk from spreading.
He had no such trouble in hiding his smirk as he replied.
“Bring it on.”
“Okay are you really going this far?” You complained good naturedly as you stepped out of the car once you’d arrived at Luke’s, to find the man himself stood there, a smirk in place with a black satin tie in his hand.
“You agreed to it. You’re the last one to arrive.” You sighed before turning so that your back was facing Luke and he chuckled as the satin tie covered your eyes.
For a solid second you felt a sliver of fear run down your spine but you knew that was down to the Criminal Minds marathon you were currently in the middle of. The second that Luke’s hands were on your shoulders, turning you slowly, your body relaxed.
“Start putting one front in front of the other, I’ll keep you on course.” His voice was soft, gentle, reassuring. Your stomach was twisting knots now and you stopped for a second to quell the panic that was threatening to overcome you.
“Hey, hey, hey. Take it easy now. You trust me right?” It felt disorientating, knowing he was behind you but he was moving as well without lifting his hands from your shoulders.
“Yes. I’m just—nervous. And maybe a little bit scared.” You admitted to your friend. You heard Luke sigh before his arms came around you and pulled you into a strong hug, one that reminded you that he wouldn’t put you in any kind of danger and that he was there, for both reassurance and comfort.
“I made Mike force a promise out of them to be on best behaviour.” You felt your stomach do another turn, but you weren’t too sure if it was from excitement or nerves. Them. There were at least two of them.
“Okay.” You let out a deep breath before pulling away. This time, Luke took your hands and his footsteps were slow as he guided you the last bit into the house.
“Right. I’ve got my two step porch and then it’s flat till the front door. First step. Good, there we go. And now the second step. Nearly there.”
By the time you were in the house, your nerves had vanished, replaced with annoyance to Luke and his bet. But you kept quiet. You'd promised not to complain too much, which meant only complaining to your date. Or dates. You tried to hold back the noise of frustration as you were guided into the house.
Curiosity overrode your annoyance once you were seated. You could hear breathing to your left and right so you tried to steady the bundle of nerves that had settled.
“Right, have fun and both Michael and I promise that the food will be easy for you guys to eat, no need to for cutlery. Much.”
“Luke.” You snapped but he simply laughed, the laughter getting quieter before a door shut and it vanished. You held back a sigh.
“The fact that Luke blindfolded us before we even got to the door is frustrating. And I’m gonna get Mike back for this.” The person on your right muttered, his voice almost smooth like honey. There was a nagging feeling in your mind which was telling you that you’d heard the voice before.
“Well, they might know what’s going on but I have no idea what I’m doing or letting myself in for.” You murmured gently and there was a laugh to your left this time whilst the one on your right snorted.
“Feeling is absolutely mutual. How about you give us a name?” The smooth honeyed voice asked quietly and you felt your eyes roll back before remembering they couldn’t see the motion.
“You two give me yours and I’ll give you mine.” There was a choked laugh from the hallway and you sighed. “Names, nothing more... yet.”
The one to your left chuckled.
“Feisty. Nice to meet ya’. I’m Calum.” You had your head turned in his direction, his words slow and quiet.
You turned your head to the right, if only to tamper down your own embarrassment at the feeling of just talking to two strangers without looking—well, turning—in their direction.
“And you are?” You drew out the third word, making Calum snicker. You could hear muffled laughter in the hallway too.
“I’m Ashton. What about you? All is fair in love and war, and we deserve your name at least, don’t we?” You smirked.
“Ah, so you both know each other already?” At this, Calum groaned before Ashton snorted.
“Quick on that one were you?” You kept quiet at Ashton’s question before he sighed. “Yeah, we know each other.”
“That wasn’t so hard now, was it?” It was a playful taunt, but you couldn’t help yourself. Eventually you murmured your name, both men testing it on their lips. You were almost grateful for the blindfolds being able to hide the delight in your face from their eyes.
It fell into an awkward silence, and you could hear something crash in the kitchen, despite the muffled sound and finally you broke the silence with a giggle. It didn’t take Ashton or Calum long to chuckle.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have no idea what I’m doing, I almost never do.” You finally murmured. “So I’m just gonna ask the most basic question, how do you both know Luke?”
There was a pause and Ashton finally responded.
“We first met him when he released the single that shot him straight into the charts. He was very different back then, but we stayed in touch and as we got older, we became friends. Calum introduced him to Michael, the one who’s helping him apparently, and they’ve worked on a couple of tracks together.” The names were familiar and you kept trying to place them before it struck you.
“Wait, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood, right? Radio show hosts? So that means Mike is the DJ, Michael Clifford?” Calum laughed.
“I told you that they’d know who we are, Ash.” You tried not to let the grin overtake your lips as you relaxed into the chair. You’d heard enough about them that you weren’t so nervous about this.
“Yeah, yeah. And what about our mysterious blind date, huh? We don’t know much about you.” You shrugged before mentally smacking yourself as you remembered that they weren’t going to see a shrug.
“Luke is my best friend. We grew up together and he’s kind of stuck with me for life.” Despite knowing who these people were, it didn't lessen your suspicions.
Before either of them could reply, a noise broke the silence as the door into the dining room opened.
“And for the first food item of the night, we have a very huge pizza that we totally did not order from the local pizza place.” Luke’s voice seemed to hold his accent a bit more as he put on the airs. You could hear someone behind him laughing.
“For drinks, it’s water because since you all drove and Luke is a dumbass, there’s no other non alcoholic beverage apart from coffee and tea and that’s not something you’re supposed to drink on a first date.” You’d not heard this voice before, but you could only assume that it was Michael.
“The dish is in front of you and there are napkins to the left of your plate. Enjoy!” And just as quickly as they’d arrived they were gone again with the slam of the door. You laughed along with Calum and Ashton.
You carefully patted around the plate to find the napkin before gently tapping your fingers against the table top, moving further inwards until you hit the hot pizza crust. Just as you found the pizza crust, Ashton made a noise of disgust.
“Should’ve thought that the actual topping of the pizza would feel disgusting.” He muttered, making both you and Calum laugh as you tore your piece away, going back for a second once you’d put it on your plate.
Warm fingers brushed the back of your hand and you pulled it away sharply, wondering if this really was the best idea.
“Sorry.” Calum hummed and you could only make a noise of acknowledgement in return as you settled on just eating the one piece you had, ignoring the goosebumps that had risen at his touch.
It was quiet between the three of you for a few moments, your mind settling on the fact that going on this date with both of them wasn’t half bad. But you knew you were never going to admit that to Luke, otherwise you’d definitely never hear the end of it from him.
It pushed onto questions of your job, seemingly switching between the three of you.
“So have you two, like, dated together before or?” You felt bold asking that question. The last slice of pizza had gone and you were certainly feeling more comfortable with them both.
“I mean, we never really dated. It was just a fling I guess?” Calum answered, the question in his tone clearly for Ashton.
“It was more of something that kind of happened by accident. At a work Christmas party, there was a game of spin the bottle.” Ashton hesitated before continuing, “I knew it was going to happen, but we went with it when the bottle landed on Calum. Hour or so later, we’d fully reverted to teenage years and played seven minutes in heaven.”
This earned a breathless laugh from Calum.
“If I remember correctly, you muttered about finding out if the rumours about my mouth were true or not.” Another laugh followed his statement and Ashton cleared his throat.
“Yeah well, you truly put those rumours to shame. Ever since, we just existed I guess? We weren’t officially a thing, but I wouldn’t say no when Cal turned up with a couple of beers and a smirk on his lips. It’s only recently that we kinda branched out.” Ashton finished with his explanation and you could feel how flustered you felt at his words.
“And what have you found from branching out?” You quietly asked. Calum responded this time.
“That we might have something we really want to try.” And you hummed in appreciation at his honesty.
“Do you two share everything then?” Your words were playful, teasing. Ashton caught his breath as he took a sip if the sputtering was anything to go by.
The dynamic duo that the three of you had dubbed Luke and Michael broke the moment, before they could give you an answer.
“Desserts! That totally isn’t store bought at all. Not us. Never.” Michael cried out and you found yourself rolling your eyes behind the blindfold.
“At least you two are good for one thing.” You fired back cheekily, earning a few laughs from them. Luke one upped you.
“Getting the three of you together, we know. We’ll be back and don’t fuck on my dining room table!” He yelled once the dishes were set on the table and beat a hasty retreat.
“They’re gonna be smug insufferable bastards for the rest of the year.” Calum muttered as they heard the laughter die down once the door had shut once more.
“Just, don’t take your fuckin’ blindfolds off. I am not losing another bet to Luke.” You muttered sharply and Ashton chuckled.
“Oh we already told them that we’d be keeping the silk ties that they’ve used as blindfolds. However, it’s up to you if you’d let us use them.” And you could feel your heart thundering in your chest as you took in a sharp gasp at Ashton’s words.
“Depends on how you plan to use them, since we have three of them.” You fired back after only a moment of hesitation. Calum laughed.
“Oh baby, you got two hands don’t you?” The tease didn’t hide the implication in his voice and you felt your breath catch for a second time in as many minutes.
Part of you wondered if they were goading you to take the blindfold off, to lose the bet if only to get out of the house quicker with them. But your competitive nature held you in place.
“I like the sound of where this is going. So the question would be, who’s place would we go to, since I really doubt that Luke would want us to try anything in his home.”
“Too fucking right!” Was the muffled response behind the door and Ashton snickered before Calum answered.
“How about we book a hotel for the night? It’s neutral ground, and not to mention, no need to really clean up any mess we make. And believe me, there will be a lot of mess eventually.”
Calum’s plan seemed to be easy for you. And you could feel the blood rushing around your body as your mind wandered to thoughts of the night ahead.
“Are we allowed to leave yet Luke?” You called, loud enough to be heard over the muffled laughter. It took a few moments before he came in and groaned.
“Let us get these two knuckleheads out and then I’ll come back for you. Looks like you won that side of the bet.” You laughed at his petulant tone, listening patiently as the chairs scraped against the floor before their footsteps got quieter.
Another set of footsteps returned and you leaned into Luke for a moment once you were up, surprising him with a hug.
“Thanks Lu.” You murmured and he chuckled softly as he guided you back out of his house.
“If you need anything, just give me a call. Are you taking your car or-”
“They can ride with us.” Calum’s voice cut Luke’s question off. You smiled.
“It’s fine Lu. I’ll pick my car up tomorrow.”
The blindfold dropped and you had to take a few minutes to adjust from the sudden light before glancing around. Luke had already retreated indoors, the door slamming just seconds later. Your eyes studied the two men in front of you, and your mind finally connected the dots between them.
Calum stood there with a grin, holding the blindfolds in his hands, his skin glowing in the setting sun. You noticed that both of them had dressed up as you glanced at Ashton, his own attire being dress pants and a white button down, the top few buttons undone.
Pictures that you’d seen of them truly did not do them justice as Calum reached his free hand out to you as he spoke.
“Ready to find out if we really share everything?”

It would have been a real cliché had it been pouring with rain, the first time you saw him. If an unexpected thunderstorm in June had sent you into the little hipster bakery by necessity, a beacon of shelter in the form of a black & white sign that said ‘Dagger & Snake Bakehouse’. As it was, you were simply hungry in the rich sunshine, miles from home, and a sucker for bagels. That wasn’t very rom-com, really.
The cliché came in when you saw him for the first time; laugh bright on his face, flour in his pillar box red hair. You felt every love-at-first-sight trope possible in that moment; brass band playing, lightning striking, arrows piercing.
But it was raining now - slowly but with determination from the grey September sky - and you felt it, still.
***
The old fashioned bell above the heavy door rang out as you pushed your way into the bakery, immediately feeling enveloped in warmth. You shook off the excess water pooling on your umbrella out of the open door before you let it close as gently as possible behind you, spinning back around to assess the scene before you.
The shop was an assault on the senses every time you visited; the smell of 50 different baked goods intermingling and somehow achieving a harmony in your nose, the sound of the eclectic playlist they kept adding to filling the shop, and the assault on the eyes came in the form of bright hanging lights, extensive art on the walls, and the staff themselves.
“Hello, you! Get in here; it’s horrible out there!”
You smiled widely, genuinely, at the greeting. “Hey, Calum! How are you?” You replied, stepping up to the counter. Calum ran his hand over his very short blonde hair with a smile that you were sure accounted for at least 25% of their sales. Not that you’d know; only one of the co-owners kept you spending more than you could really afford on focaccia bread, and he was nowhere to be seen.
“Can’t complain, real-well, actually, I can,” Calum changed his mind mid-sentence, face growing indignant. “Ash went to drop the banking off at Natwest 30 minutes ago, and Luke was due 5 minutes before you walked in, and I’m dying for a piss, and I-” The bell above the door shook like a hurricane had just come through the door, and in the form of a 6’2” blonde streak of limbs, it kind of had. “Sorry, sorry, I’m he-woah!” Luke skidded across the shiny white floor on his damp black Converse, windmilling his long arms until he caught one of only three tables in the place, and brought himself to a jolting stop.
Calum rolled his eyes. “This fucken’ guy.” He muttered, but you could see the fondness painted all over his golden brown face. “Luke, I need to pee; look after our best customer for me!” Calum bolted out from behind the counter, showing off his black tank top and pinstriped trousers as he pulled his black branded apron off on his way to the door marked ‘STAFF ONLY’ across the shop. You could hear his Doc Martens squeaking on the tiles as he disappeared through the door and Luke took his place behind the counter, chucking his backpack through the archway that attached the shop to the bakery’s kitchen.  “Ooh, Ashton won’t like finding your backpack in his kitchen when he gets back!” You tease, leaning onto the ledge that separates you from Luke. The absent baker was very particular about his immaculate commercial kitchen and everything in it, and you knew something would definitely be said about the fact that Luke’s wet backpack was now lying on the floor by the ovens. Calum had once told you about a time he had simply moved Ashton’s sourdough starter across the kitchen, and the incident that had followed (and lasted for three days). “Ooh, won’t he!” Luke cooed, tying his own D&S Bakehouse apron with a messy bow on his stomach. “You’d know, being our resident Ashton expert and all.” You felt the flush begin to bloom on your cheeks before you saw it reflected in Luke’s stupid stainless steel coffee machine. You stuck your chin out as defiantly as possible. “I don’t know what that means, and I also don’t care. I’d like a Flat White, please, barista!”  Luke clutched his chest with a large hand, gasping dramatically. “So harsh! My own job title! You missed ‘Retail Assistant’ and ‘Shop Hunk’, but I’ll forgive you because I know you’re having Ashton withdrawals right now. Haven’t seen you since last week, kiddo!” Opting to ignore his needling about the Ashton situation, you set your own backpack on the floor as you let out a sigh. “Yeah, it’s been a bit chaotic this week. But I said I’d try and come by today, and I can’t live without Calum’s doughnuts much longer, so here I am.” “Yeah, that’s definitely what you can’t live without.” Luke snorted, filling the portafilter with coffee grounds. The staff door swung open before you could respond, Calum sailing back into the bakery. “Does he come with an off switch?” You groaned, shaking your head at the bottle blonde as he laughed and groaned with you. “God, if he did, I’d use it so often he’d never be ‘on’.” “You love me, they love me, everybody loves me!” Luke sang at volume as the coffee machine began to grind and whir. Calum rolled his eyes as he shut the door to the counter. “The girls from the high school down the street love you, I’ll give you that, but that’s about it.”   “The boys, too.” Luke wiggled his eyebrows at you ridiculously, tapping the used coffee grounds into the bin with a flourish. You couldn’t help but giggle; you’d grown so fond of Luke and Calum in the three months you’d been visiting the bakery that you considered them friends. And as you started examining the case in front of you, filled with the most delicious looking cakes, pastries and doughnuts you’d ever seen, you thought that surely friends with access to coffee and baked goods were the best friends to have. “What are you thinking, love?” Calum asked, watching your eyes flick between peanut butter brownies and cinnamon rolls.  “I don’t know; everything always looks so good!” You whined. “I think I’m definitely in the mood for something sweet, though.” “I’m right here, baby!” Luke trilled as he placed a steaming cup on the counter, looking very pleased with himself. “Do I need to tell Michael about this flirty behaviour, Luke?” Calum teased. Luke shrugged, completely nonplussed. “If you want. He’s so hot when he gets jealous.” Calum rolled his eyes again as he made his way into the kitchen. “Luke, move your backpack before Ash gets back unless you want to get bollocked!” He called over his shoulder. “Uh oh, too late.” Luke groaned, looking past you through the glass of the shop front, moments before the shop bell sounded out for a third time. You would definitely play it cool and not turn around if it was anyone but Ashton; you swear, this man is actually magnetic. The Hall & Oates’ song coming from the speakers seems to slow down as he comes into your line of sight, like in every movie you’ve ever seen with a leading man half as gorgeous as this one. Ashton was wearing his signature black boots and ripped jeans, with a white tank top and the leather jacket that you were sure would smell just like him; flour, grapefruit, sandalwood and whatever he used to put his hair into any of the styles that drove you so crazy. Today he had that one styled curl falling onto his face, and right now it was soaked and sending a trail of water down to drop from his chiseled jaw.  “You took your time, bread boy.” Calum called from the kitchen, doing Luke a solid of hiding his backpack underneath the furthermost kitchen counter as he did. Ashton huffed out half a laugh, running both hands through his wet hair and bending forward to shake it off as much as he could. “I don’t even only bake bread! Why do you insist on calling me that? Especially in front of my favourite customer.”  Despite knowing that you were currently the only customer in the bakery, your brain immediately began questioning whether or not he was referring to you. Then, he straightened up with his arms high, hands slicking his red hair back, and looked straight at you with unwavering eye contact. “Hey.”  That one word, combined with those eyes and him looking like he was in 2020’s answer to a Whitesnake video dragged your heart straight into your throat.  “Hey.” You echoed, hoping you were imagining the slightly breathless quality to your voice. Ashton’s serious-supermodel face broke into his brightest smile - seemingly just for you - before he began to stride past you to head behind the counter, shrugging his wet jacket off as he went. “I see you’re sorted with a drink; what have you chosen to eat? Or is this a flying visit?” “I was just doing my usual, actually.” You replied, dragging your eyes away from the tattoos on his arms to glance back down at the many glass cases of treats. “Struggling to decide?” Ashton teased lightly, tying his apron strings into a bow at his waist. You giggled, feeling inordinately pleased that he knew exactly what you meant. “Well, my lattices should be cool by now. Cal?” Ashton called into the kitchen, where the sound of stand mixers could now be heard. You hadn’t even noticed Calum leaving the shop to bake in the back. As you realised Luke was also nowhere to be seen, the assistants’ head appeared from the side of the archway. “Calum says he is a very busy man and he thought you had things under control out here.” You frowned slightly, not understanding the inflection the blonde had put on ‘under control’. Must be a private joke; one that made Ashton steadily flush down his neck. “Shut up, Luke! I just want the top tray on the cooling rack by the main pantry, please.” Luke tapped his head with two fingers in an ‘aye aye, Captain’ gesture and momentarily vanished from view. Ashton cleared his throat, directing his words back to you. “I thought you said you were going to try and come by today. I made Cherry & Custard Lattices earlier; you love cherry, right?” You didn’t know what to say, so opted to just stare back at Ashton in surprise until you saw doubt in his eyes. “Yes! I did, say that, and I do - love cherry. You remembered that?” The smile on your face felt like it was spread impossibly wide, over your cheeks and beyond.  “Of course! I’m glad you’re here, actually…” “Here you go!” Luke said, sounding almost gleeful as he put the tray of pastries on the worktop behind Ashton. Normally, you would expect Luke to arrange them in a space in one of the cabinets and carefully handwrite a little sign for them, but not today, apparently. He was already taking strides back to the kitchen to help Calum, throwing you both a look over his shoulder that was definitely cheeky. “Go get ‘em, tiger!” Ashton went so unbelievably red that it made his flush from before look like his natural skin tone. For lack of something to do with yourself in a confusing, slightly awkward situation that you didn’t fully understand, you picked up the coffee Luke had made for you and took a small sip. Ashton took a breath and seemed to steel himself for something. “I’ve got something to ask you.” He cocked his head slightly to one side before taking a slightly wistful tone. “Do you remember the day we met?” *** You looked up at the stark sign above the world’s most appetising window display. ‘Dagger & Snake Bakehouse’. It was a little after your usual lunchtime and you were starving. You’d never been to this place before, but you could see slices of puff pastry topped with everything you could imagine; asparagus, pesto, goats cheese, tomatoes, bacon, mushrooms - all topped with melted cheese, so that was that. You made your way through the glossy black door into the bakery, and were struck by how cool it looked inside. The main walls were exposed brick painted white, covered with a broad range of paintings, posters, sketches, photographs and signs. Black boards covered in white chalk writing detailing baked goods and hot drinks, opening hours and little doodles. Shelves with all manner of trinkets and decorations adorned any parts of the walls that there wasn’t something else. Sleek white tiles covered the floor, counters and the walls leading off to the restrooms and a door marked ‘STAFF ONLY’. There were ferns and succulents dotted around the place, and recycled glass bottles on a few black cafe tables with a single red rose in each. There were cases and displays of every kind of baked good you could imagine at the counter, running along the windows, and high above the worktops behind the counter. Stevie Wonder segued into Fleetwood Mac over the speakers in the corners, audible above the babble of noise of the customers already in the bakery.  A couple at the farthest table were tucking into big slices of two of the most incredible looking cakes you had ever seen in your life. At the till, a girl with a high ponytail and tiny denim shorts was taking a branded pastry box from a tall, skinny-but-somehow-broad guy. Another man with a black hat pulled low on his head brushed his fluffy blonde hair out of his eyes where he sat at one of the tables opposite the counter. He shot the staff member a beaming smile and a thumbs up, then returned his attention to the laptop open on his table. You eagerly made your way forward as the girl with the ponytail began to exit the shop. “Hi! I’m Luke, welcome to Dagger & Snake Bakehouse. What can I get for you?” The worker - Luke - greeted you enthusiastically with a toothy smile. His smile faltered slightly when you asked for an iced coffee to go with your lunch, but before you could think about it, he sprang into action as a second man appeared from an archway beside him, mid laugh. You divert your attention to the newcomer and your heart skips way more than a beat. He was, without question, the most beautiful human you had ever seen in your life. He was tall - though not as tall as Luke, but twice as broad. The muscles in his arms bulged through his t-shirt, and you could see tattoos on his arms and wrists. His hair was in a perfect quiff, and the brightest shade of red you could imagine. You noticed what appeared to be flour speckled across the top of it, and melted slightly more. His face was a set of perfect, sharp angles contrasting with the soft dimples in his cheeks as he laughed. You had never been so aware of every molecule of your own body. You felt tingly and numb and on high alert all at once. The urge to lick your lips was suddenly overwhelming. “How are you getting on, Luke? Did I hear an iced coffee order over Calum’s shenanigans back there?” His voice was like hearing a song on the radio that you haven’t heard in ages but always loved. Luke shook his head and played it cool, whilst the love of your life turned to you with a warm smile. “It’s Luke’s first day! Go easy on him. How is he doing?”  “Ashton! I know exactly what I am doing!” Luke sniffed, opening a cabinet door that turns out to be a freezer drawer and scooping ice with confidence. Ashton giggled again and held his hands up in surrender, shooting you another smile before heading around Luke and out onto the bakery floor. You unconsciously followed him with your eyes, across the room to the window cabinets where he began making adjustments to the display. He had to bend and lean to reach the very front, and after allowing yourself a few seconds to stare at his ass in tight, black jeans, you came to your senses and reluctantly diverted your eyes back to the counter. Luke leant conspiratorially towards the counter and you unconsciously mirrored his movement before he began to whisper to you. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have no idea what I’m doing.” He laughed as he straightened back up and steadied the coffee cup in his hand before continuing in an airy, cheerful voice. “I almost never do!” “I’m sure it’ll be great, don’t worry!” You reassured, casting an eye over the blender Luke was working with now. You were sure it would be. Probably. Your eyes traced the white printed branding that adorned the apron on Luke’s chest; a traditional tattoo style dagger and snake.  “Why Dagger & Snake?” “Oh, that’s a question for one of the bossmen! Ashton!” Luke called across the shop. “Yeah?” You jumped at the voice that came from right behind you, spinning around and coming face to face with Ashton wiping his hands on his apron. “Sorry!” Ashton apologised. “I didn’t mean to scare you!” A soft, genuine smile played on his lips as you took in just how hazel his eyes were. You felt like you’d just walked up a flight of 200 stairs. “The lady would like to know why you and Cal named this place Dagger & Snake Bakehouse. Oh, balls.” Something hit the floor behind you, but you paid it no mind as Ashton’s face lit up. “They go together, to mean a bunch of stuff, right? Kept seeing them at tattoo shops, together. They can symbolise healing, the Roman god of luck, good vs evil; loads of cool stuff. But always together; that’s me and Cal - Calum, my best friend, we own this place, 50/50. He got the dagger, I got the snake. Brothers, forever.” Ashton talked with such conviction, and pulled his t-shirt sleeve with enthusiasm as he held his arm out to you, showing you a stark black tattoo of a snake. “That’s so sweet.” You breathed out, without really thinking about it. He looked at you like he hadn’t expected that adjective, but like he was turning it over in his mind. “And cool!” you added, nodding slightly. “You think so?” Ashton smiled, pulling his sleeve back down, looking quietly pleased. You let a few seconds tick by in silence, looking into his eyes to see what you could see. It looked like the whole world. “Yeah, I do.”
***
“Um...I think so, yes.” You thought you were just about straddling the line between casual and so-nervous-you-could-honestly-throw-up-a-little. “I wanted to ask you this that day, but I thought I’d sound so creepy, and unprofessional, and I didn’t want you to think I was a freak, or that I did this all the time, but-” Unless you were projecting, Ashton looked as nervous as you felt. “Ashton, point! Get there!” Luke yelled gleefully from the kitchen, followed immediately by a sound that you were fairly certain was Calum smacking him upside the head. The yelp of ‘Ow!’ that followed it seemed to confirm your suspicions.  Ashton faltered slightly, looking embarrassed and mumbling something about ‘idiot’ and ‘fired’. “Ashton.” You reached out your hand and placed it on his where he was nervously drumming on the counter again before you even thought about it. You weren’t sure which of you was more surprised at your involuntary action.  Ashton raised his eyes back to you, peering at you with hope in his hazel eyes.“You think I could get your number? Take you out sometime?” You allowed yourself to smile, widely, genuinely, as you knew just how to answer. “Yeah, I do.” *** masterlist for the 5sos ficwriters collab  • my masterlist
