Fenrik looked in the direction the stranger had pointed, towards the pier, or rather underneath it, where the waves met sand. He’d stopped someone on the beach asking for directions and nodded, thanking them in his usual grunt before he began to move across the beach.
The sand didn’t really mesh well with his boots. Every step he took, his feet sank into the sand, before he was having to pull them out. Only that motion would proceed to kick up the sand, his boots filling up little by little with hundreds of grains. It was annoying and he knew why he didn’t come out to this part of the island, well, ever. However, he was on a mission today, and would just have to deal with the sand until he could at least get off the beach.
“Hey,” he barked as he approached his final destination in an effort to get the attention of the woman he was trying to find. He took out a small knife, banging the edge against the metal pieces of the pier that held it together in certain places to make a noise and announce himself. “Ah, fuck,” he said as he felt a mild stabbing in his boot, figuring a broken shell must have gotten in. This solidified it. He hated the beach.
He was taking off his boot now so he could shake it loose, at least get rid of the shell before it cut his foot. Pain and cuts might have been minor annoyances for him, but that didn’t mean they still couldn’t cause infection.
