Murdoc and Roger(oc) They hate each other but they're secretly besties. It takes them a while to come round to each other but they end up bonding over their similar taste in music. Roger's band has played with Gorillaz as a warm up act/opener, he hasn't played in Gorillaz. My current idea for the relationship between the bands is similar to the one between The Cure and The Banshees back in the early 80's. I haven't designed or worked on Roger's band yet all I know is that Roger isn't a lead member of the band, he likes to keep to himself so his public image in the band is muted.

MacGyver: Brothers AU

Hey here's just a little world-building for my AU where the original and reboot MacGyvers are brothers.

MacGyver:

They both go by their last name. 1985 hates his first name more because that's how it was in the shows.

2016 can have the first name Angus because he actually gets called that in the show. 1985's first name is Stacey because that's what it was in the pilot episode script.

1985 is the older brother, of course. They have an age gap of about 5-8 years.

Modern setting but OG MacGyver dresses like it's the 80s and also just has a bunch of 80s stuff.

Murdoc:

Pretty much everything that happened in the first reboot episode with Helman is canon in this AU, except Helman is named Murdoc, he's the age he was in the original, and it was his sister, Ashton, who was killed not his wife.

Dennis took Murdoc's favorite alter ego name and also goes by Murdoc now just to piss him off.

Jack Dalton:

Also brothers.

Their father didn't know 1985 Jack was born. Both of them were named after their father and unknowingly given the same name.

They didn't know each other existed until later in life.

Reboot Jack doesn't really like original Jack.

The other characters:

I'm not adding original Bozer or reboot Penny because they were both barely in the shows. I think reboot Bozer and original Penny would be friends though, because they are both interested in show business.

I'm not adding Patricia Thornton because I'm still mad that they rebooted Pete to be a villain while making Matt Webber into a hero.

Matty and Pete are friends and sometimes share tips on how to keep their respective MacGyvers from getting hurt or dying (they are both struggling).

Other stuff:

It is set in the modern setting. I'm definitely more of an OG MacGyver fan but I wasn't around in the 80s so modern setting is just easier for me.

Phoenix is both a think tank and also a secret government agency. Both the MacGyvers work in different buildings but sometimes are called in to help each other out.

I don't really know reboot MacGyver that well so if any of this seems way out of character feel free to let me know and I'll change it. Also, feel free to add any ideas! If anyone wants to use this AU feel free! You don't need to follow this list at all!

Johnny 13 & Kitty Redesign Discussion🏍️🍀

I LOVE their OG looks, I like how more grounded and human like they are, especially in fashion. Many people theorize they died in the 80-90’s so I went for fashion more akin to that time. I was def going for 80’s punk rock and grunge with Johnny and a cute 80’s party gal vibe mixed with a little punk/goth for Kitty. Johnny’s looking for trouble while Kitty just wants a nice time. Ngl I also wanted to give off zombie/ghoul like vibes as well, with how human they look.

Johnny🏍️

I ramped up the punk and grungecore for Johnny! Wanted to make him look more rough and tumble with a ghoulish charm.

Made his complexion more tannish.

With how Kitty’s name is Kitty, I wanted to give Johnny a wild dog vibe🐕 I def see Lady and The Tramp vibes with them.

Added a mini ponytail at the back for a little tail. Also made his hair messier.

Added more spikes in his accessories to make him look tougher.

Gave him a spiked choker, to give off a collar vibe for the dog theme.

Added black nail polish(Kitty does his nails).

Made his back teeth sharper, to feel like sharp dog teeth.

With how Kittys associated with green, I wanted to associate him more with red, to show them wearing each others colors❤️💚 Put an anarchy symbol on his shirt.

OG Color Scheme- Gray, orange, green, gold, black, white and gray.

My color scheme- grayish brown, spring green, darker green, greenish tint for his jacket, orange, brown gray, black, white, red and grayish red.

Made his black pants plaid green with red accents. Also added rips into them.

Added a lot more rips and tears in his design.

Added some stains on his jacket. Show it’s been through a lot.

Gave him more scars and marks. Many people headcanon they died in a motorcycle accident and I wanted to give off the idea of Johnny getting the most damage(probably tried to shield her from most of it but unfortunately failed to save her anyway). I also wanted to make his nose look broken and even has a missing tooth.

Gave him dark circles under his eyes like Kitty.

Gave his jacket a greenish gray tint.

Ngl I was going for Murdoc vibes from Gorillaz.

Added pins on his jacket. A skull and #13.

Made his stubble the same color as his hair.

Made his greens more yellowish, spring green. Clovers come out in the spring! Made his boots more detailed and added socks. Some exposed leg skin. Removed his pupils👁️

Changed Johnny’s ring to a simple silver ring with an engraved K. K for Kitty. It’s identical to Kitty’s who wears his first initial.

Made his shadow more dog/wolf shaped and made his eyes red. Also made his teeth less vampire like and added a smoke like aura. There’s bound to be smoke in a motorcycle accident…

Kitty🍀

A huge change was that I wanted to give Kitty a more good luck theme, in opposite to Johnnys bad luck. Because if her color scheme, I went for the traditional four leaf clover. I changed her necklace to be clover designed🍀🍀🍀

Changed her body type and made her more plus-sized. Ngl @letswonderspirit take on Kitty def left a mark on me, I really liked the body change! seriously their Johnny + Kitty content is AMAZING!!!!!.

a lot of people see Kitty as Black because of hair resembling dreadlocks so I went with that as well, hence why I made her nose broader and lips fuller👩🏾‍🦱

Made her skin a more vibrant green💚

Made her eyes bigger and changed her lashes to feel a bit more kitty like. Also added a little upside down heart bump on her top lip like a kitty mouth😺🐈‍⬛

Made her hair shorter.

Added more details unto her jacket

Replaced her black ripped top and red skirt for a black dress with a purple belt.

Made her leggins more gray and added some rips and tears. For the punk look…and being in an accident there’s bound to be some tears.

Added a red sheen on her boots, feel more leather like. Wanted to go for KITTEN heels.

Gave her shine to her purple eyeshadow.

added pins, a kitty and a heart. Cute pins to contrast with Johnny’s tough punk ones.

Switched her black wrap bracelet with a hoop and beaded bracelets.

Gave her fingerless gloves. CAUSE 80′s!!!!!!!!!!!!

Removed the scarf.

Made her purples darker to contrast from the reds more💜

Made her eyebrows the same color as her hair.

Changed her purple lipstick to black and red.

Changed her green pendant into clover shaped🍀 wanted to make it feel like a cute lil kitty collar.

Gave her red lipstick and nail polish. A Kitty showing off her claws.

Added purple hoop earrings, peaking from her hair.

Changed her gold bracelet with green gem to a silver ring with a J engraved into it, J for Johnny💖 I headcanon he made them himself from metalshop or something.

personally obsessed with dad murdoc. teaching noodle how to paint her nails. teaches her makeup tricks from his goth phase in the 80's. gives her tips about heels. shows her the best way to deal with creeps and catcallers. i doubt he'd know much about female puberty but noodle grows up knowing that if she needs help without judgement, uncle murdoc has been through worse and survived!

In an ideal world I like to imagine he does all of those things. But also I think it’d take a while for both of them to actually be comfortable doing that. I doubt it would come naturally to him, and might be hot/cold in terms of affection, and Noodle must also be put off by his treatment of 2D. Plus, he’d have to learn to drink his respect women juice :/ perhaps having to raise a daughter has done that but she’s probably had to bear the unfortunate consequences of trial and error. He definitely must have said the wrong things plenty of times 😬

They’d get there eventually, but he’d have to do something to earn that trust. Thank god I have a super-long fic in progress about them 😎

I definitely believe he’d be willing for her to come to him for problems because “anything you could have possibly done, I’ve done worse” but I think she’d still be too embarrassed. Like:

“It’s okay, love, I’ve done the same thing!”

“I know, that’s why it’s humiliating”

Regardless, he’d be there for her if she needed him— she goes to him when she’s in *deep* shit

She’s probably one of the only people he’d drop everything and bend over backwards for, and she knows it. She says that he’s been groveling ever since the El Mañana incident and hasn’t had to make her own cup of tea in seven years, so that’s definitely part of it, but I also she’s special to him and the only person he loves unconditionally even if he’s not always great at showing it, or doing what’s best for her. Idk I just really like exploring the dynamic of like, you can love someone or something so much but it doesn’t mean you’re good at caring for them

Ugh I’m so excited to finish this fic it’s so good, it runs the gauntlet of emotion baby (I do have a one-shot related to it too, perhaps I’ll finish that up and post it as a sample soon 👀)

Hoooooly crap, folks - Aries. was. AWESOME!!!

#Blooming where I'm planted #Seriously I think this has to be one of my all-time favorite Gorillaz songs! #It has quite a bit of an early 80's synth-rock vibe to it - which I dig a whole lot! #I also really adored the meaningful and touching lyrics that 2D sang as he and Murdoc rode down the highway... #Or rather LOOKED LIKE they rode down the highway - it was a green screen effect LMAO! #I guess none of us really needed to worry about Murdoc falling off the bike haha! #Noodle yelling after the boys was quite a moment of intrigue and excitement for me. What was she warning them about I wonder? #Then of course there was all the other small touches I loved - such as 2D being on a motorbike... #Russel just chilling as he drives his golf cart down the road smoking his cigar... #Noodle with her angry grimace and her fevered pursuit after 2D and Murdoc... #And of course Murdoc pulling an Evil Knievel with his helmet and cape! Not to mention he had Woody Woodpecker on his helmet! #I wonder if Murdoc is a Walter Lantz fan? This is an introductory to a gorillaz (2doc) au that is very close to me. It’s not much but genuine love and dedication through years of work, and it’s still not done!! But, I hope those here will like it, for it’s something new and refreshing that I don’t see much of in this fandom. I will be posting way more art and stories and little snippets of anything for those to enjoy!! (Warning!! This au has a lot of depictions of gore and violence! So if that’s not your kinda thing be weary!!)

Stuart (Harold) Pot : Grew up in the farmlands of England with his mom and dad, later moving to his own property Owned under his fathers name. Able to make a living on just selling products at the local farmers market since the rest of his home is covered under his family name. He’s a very upright, polite man. Isn’t scared to correct himself or others. Has a relatively good temperament tho once you’ve got him mad he’ll give you hell.

Hobbies: cooking is his best specialty, learned from his mother. Tho he does a few other things, but not his strongest craftsman’s ship is things like sewing or general building with wood (idk what you call it.)

Murdoc (Faust) Niccals (aka Stinky) : A demon born and raised in hell by a fellow mate after his father, Sebastian Niccals, ate his family in a cannibalistic rage after his mother gave birth to him and 2 other siblings. Murdoc being the soul survivor. Up until around his 20’s did he decide to escape hell and live the rest of his immortal life on earth, killing and causing havoc to whatever and whoever crossed his path…until he met Stu in quite a complicated way. Murdoc is stubborn and short tempered and always has an appetite. The only person who’s ever seen and sees his soft side is Stu.

Paula Cracker : She has a rather short live and tragic fate in this story. Before Stuart met Murdoc, Paula was Stuarts soon to be wife, despite not really having an intimate relationship with her. His family expected them to get married. But that was also shortlived, after Stu discovered she was mostly in the relationship to mooch off his family. So he kicked her out and in a fit of rage planed a murder. But in a fortunate string of events. Murdoc was there to save Stu. And she suffers a very bloody and brutal death. And Murdoc earned a delicious meal.

Now!! To the actual story.

(for some background context this all takes place in like..I wanna say mid 80’s?? Everyone is their pre-existing age with their cannon counterparts.)

It starts with Stuart driving home after a long day, it’s dark and he’s intoxicated, suddenly swerving to avoid what he thought at the time was a pig. He stumbles out his truck and examines the unconscious creature, fixes them up, and drives off. The next morning Murdoc awakes on the curbside, leg bandaged and the smell of human on him. He takes a trip to hunt down who had bandaged him. Tho once finding the human he finds the other not afraid of him, which in return frightens him. After a while and a quick meal offered to stinky Stu eventually offers him to come inside. And with hesitation Murdoc does. Still very on edge, the both of them. Stu tries his very best to make the other feel welcome, frightened yet drawn towards the demon. And Murdoc the same. Tho he feels more butterflies than anything. Stu takes a while to eventually return feelings. Then the whole Paula incident happens and Stu finally realizes how dangerous Murdoc is. But wants to continue growing a friendship with him. Which very soon will turn romantic. With a rain storm rolling in and Murdoc terrified of thunder and lightning, Stu does his best and eventually gets the other distracted in a dance number, and it ends with them smoochy kissing (sex) on the couch. Tho the next morning stu is conflicted with his feelings. He likes the other but can’t explain or express the feelings. He ends up giving Murdoc the cold shoulder which really upsets the other. Stu realized how much of a dick move that was so he musters up the courage to tell the other. The dumb thing is that Stu the entire time thought Murdoc didn’t feel the same way. Despite showing very obviously that he did.

When he's mad , he starts shouting in italian

Has a lot of tattoos

Is bisexual

Is a skater

Cheers 2d up ,when the singer is feeling down

He usually takes him to the skate park or for a car ride

Cries during movies and even documentaries, when a baby animal is being eaten by another animal

Loves taking naps

Is also a great cook and cooks with russel when he's at kong

Has dance offs with 2d

He plays a lot of video games

He was a big Gorillaz fan back in the days

Still owns his very first Gorillaz cassette

Loves the band like his very own Gang in America

But he still has a few issues with murdoc since he was a dick to 2d

But they usually are at piece with one another

Is a gift for the band :)

Sometimes feels down , because he never got to know his parents and he had to live on the streets

On such days , he usually hangs with 2d , because 2d has a calming effect on him and the singer cheers him up as well

Loves cuddles and hugs

But he can get very tough and mean if someone is threatening someone or something he loves

Is a groovy guy , likes 80's music a lot

His hair is very thin , so everytime he tries a man bun or a ponytail , he has to use many hair clips so it doesn't fall apart

Has really soft hair

Gets frustrated when his hairstyles fall apart >:(

the fact that gorillaz has 4 DISTINCT characters and their group photoshoots aren't a mashup of styles and complete chaos is mind boggling.

Murdoc with an 80's gothic background, Russel with his sensible love for formal wear + his hip-hop roots, Noodle with a clash of modern fashion and a riot girl (murdoc's influence) aesthetic, and 2d being..... a bloke. HOW is it not more interesting????

You are EXACTLY correct, anon. Murdoc should have had the eyeliner and lashes since yesterday, no, since 20 years ago. His other favorite genre is metal (well, at least per ROTO), so honestly, the fact that he hasn't has more dramatic styles choices is a sorely missed opportunity.

That being said, I love 2D's dad style, so that can stay. Noodle's style also seems fitting. Russel? Idk. They seems to alternate between casual wear and formal wear for him, but have been slacking on the formal wear for a little while (I think...I'm rusty on the latest photoshoots they've had, ngl).

To provide a possible in-universe explanation, I'd assume it's because the photographer might want them all to match or fit the theme of the magazine/paper/etc. for the particular issue.
