It was times like this that Buck wondered why he did what he did. Everyone was silent as they sat at the dinner table. No one bothered to try and say anything, and no one looked up either. They all focused on their polished black shoes, not having the stomach to look up and see her empty chair.
He hears people say, "it all happened so fast," but when the shot rang out and he watched the blood spread on her shirt, everything was in slow motion. The shot echoed in his ears. He was too shocked to scream as her body fell slowly to the ground. Realization hit when he felt her blood on his face, and everyone rushed to her aid. It was like someone shocked him, like he jolted awake from a nightmare. Only, when he woke up, she wasn't better.
"No..." He said. "No, no, no!" He screamed, rushing to her.
Bobby and Eddie held him back as he fought to get to her, Hen and Chim working with shaky hands.
"This can't be happening..." He whimpered.
She looked at him, a weak smile on her bloody face, blood pouring from her wound."It's okay. It'll be okay." She muttered fraily.
She nodded, as if trying to convince herself as well.
"Please- let me go!" He yelled desperately, "please! I need to go to her!" His eyes watered as he begged Bobby and Eddie to let him go.
They, too, were on the verge of tears, trying to hold them back for his sake. It wouldn't have made much of a difference, though. All his focus was on her.
Once they got her loaded into the ambulance, they let him go. He ran to her side and sat down. He took her hand, brushing the stray hairs that fell from her braid away from her eyes. She looked up at him with watery eyes, swallowing thickly because she knew it wasn't good. A bullet wound is supposed to hurt. It isn't good when it doesn't.
"Try not to move, okay?" He said shakily.
She nodded, squeezing his hand to assure him. She felt somewhat guilty that she was even trying when she knew she probably wouldn't make it to the hospital. She couldn't bring herself to lie to him. She couldn't find the words to tell him how much she loved him either.
"You're gonna be okay. You have to be." He said firmly, denial dripping from his tongue.
She shook her head. "No." She whimpered. "I'm not."
He shook his head defiantly. "Don't say that. Say anything but that." He said, his voice cracking.
Hen and Chim had to choke back the words 'she's right' because they themselves didn't want to believe she wasn't going to be okay. They wanted to believe she'd be okay like Buck did.
"Okay." She said. "Then I need to tell you something. Before I don't get the chance. I-" She started.
But he cut her off with a shake of his head. "No, you can tell me when you're better." He said.
They all knew what she was going to say, but no one said anything. Everyone, including each other, knew about their feelings for each other. Y/n was afraid of it all going sour, however, and she didn't have the courage to take the plunge and risk losing her best friend. Evan, he wanted to save them both the heartache in case it didn't last. Mostly himself, if he was honest. He knew they'd come back from it, but it'd never be the same. They didn't want to take that chance, and everyone thought it was stupid. Anyone with eyes could see they were crazy for each other. Absolutely head over heels.
"You can't leave me. Please don't leave me." He said desperately, tears streaming down his blood stained cheeks.
She reached up and wiped away his tears, her hand lingering when he leaned into her. "You'll be okay." She said sadly.
"No." He croaked. "I won't." He shook his head, placing his hand on hers.
"You'll have Maddie, Bobby, Chimney, Hen, Eddie, and Christopher. You'll be okay." She tried to convince him.
"But I won't have you." He whispered. "You can't give up yet. You have to fight." He said defeated.
"I'm so tired." She said weakly. "I'm sorry." She said, struggling to get the words out.
"I know it hurts-" He said, but she cut him off.
"It doesn't. It doesn't hurt." She whispered.
"Please, it's not supposed to end this way, I still need you. We still need you." He said.
She smiled weakly, wiping his tears once more. She gasped, her chest heaving, before she stilled, her eyes going blank. For a moment, her hand remained against his cheek, but he knew she was gone. Her smile faded, her mouth agape as blood spilled from the corners. Her hand fell, and Buck never knew silence could be so loud. The constant beep, the solid line, seemed to taunt them. Hen angrily shut it off. Chimney slowly took his hands from her wound where he attempted to stop the bleeding.
"No." Buck said, getting up and starting cpr.
He wasn't ready to give up on her. Henrietta shut her eyes tightly, fighting back tears of her own. Chimney shook his head, determined to see her smile again. To see them finally happy together. To see her in a white gown as he watched his best friends say their vows. To see little baby Buckleys running around with Jee-yun. He reached into her wound, closing off the source of the bleed. Hen sniffled as she turned the machine back on, the consistent beep sounding again. What was a taunt became motivation to them, and Buck continued to try recesutate her.
"C'mon..." He said. "C'mon!" He yelled desperately.
Tears mixed with the dried blood on his face, but he hardly noticed either. Hen tried not to look because seeing one of her best friends lay lifeless on the gurney, while another desperately tried to bring her back, would be too much. She knew that would break her. Break her faith in the job. She needed to try to remember why she did it instead of seeing a reason not to.
As Chimney ran beside the gurney, Hen filled in the doctors and nurses, but Buck didn't hear. He just heard a ringing in his ears, the gun shot echoing in his head. Her lifeless eyes stared back at him, the blood still spilling from her mouth. It gave him a little hope, though, because if she was totally gone she wouldn't be bleeding... right?
"Sir, we can take it from here." A nurse said, easing Buck from his position above her as he tried to get her heart beating again.
Chim was eased into paper blue covers as they rolled them into surgery.
They hadn't been ushered away yet. They could see nurses starting chest compressions and giving her O2. They could see the doctors gently ease Chim's hand from her wound. They could see the blood pour from the wound as a result. As the minutes droned on and her heart didn't start, he felt his own shatter.
It wasn't quick. It was slow. Painful.
Hen could see her blood spilling onto the floor. Her hope quickly diminished seeing the amount.
Finally, Buck could see her heart re-start and her chest rise, and he released a breath he wasn't aware he was holding.
Then, Buck finally broke down. He fell to his knees, sobbing. Hen knelt down with him, pulling him into her embrace, but it offered neither of them comfort. Bobby, Eddie, and Athena rushed to them.
Athena's face fell. "She flat lined. Didn't she?" She said sadly, defeated.
Hen nodded weakly. Eddie dropped to his knees, hugging Buck as well.
"I'm gonna get this son of a bitch." Athena growled, storming out of the trauma bay. "Call me when she's out of surgery." She said as she determinedly walked away.
Bobby hung his head, unwillingly letting the tears fall. None of them could bring themselves to leave. None of them wanted to.
It wasn't until Chim finally returned, covered in blood, and said they wouldn't know anything for several more hours.
It took some convincing, but they finally got Buck to leave to finish his shift. But none of them truly left the ER.
Buck had an empty plate in front of him, but he couldn't bring himself to eat. Not when he saw her blank expression every time he closed his eyes.
Their families all came out to support them, the community coming together to put out candles and figures of good luck and healing, hoping and praying for the firefighter and her family and team. Praying for good news. The sight was bittersweet.
Buck couldn't stand the silence. He stood abruptly and left, heading to the locker rooms.
He had to choke back a sob. He didn't want to live without her. He didn't want to love anyone else but her. He didn't want to do this job if she wasn't beside him.
"Evan, you were made to save a life."
His mother's voice rang out in his head.
He wanted to scream. He wanted to sob. He wanted her back.
He missed her smile, he missed her laugh, he missed the stupid jokes she'd tell to cheer everyone up on a hard day. He missed her warm hugs and how she smelled like roses and lillies: her favorite perfume. Her hair always smelled fruity, and her skin was always so soft. He missed her giggles and the way she'd gently caress his face. He wanted her back.
He wanted to hear from the damn hospital. Wanted to hear them say she made it through. It was nearing six hours after the shooting, and it felt like the longest six hours of his life.
He stood in the locker room, leaning against the metal doors of the lockers, his head down. He squeezed his eyes shut, desperately trying to think of her in any way that wasn't the lifeless look in her eyes. Even if she made it, that sight would haunt his nightmares. He mentally kicked himself for not telling her he loved her sooner. He knew she knew. Hell, everyone else did too. But he needed to know she heard it. And right now, he was praying for any miracle. He was praying that he'd get the chance to tell her, kiss her, hold her, anything.
He screamed and stood, hitting the lockers to try to ease the pain in any way. He punched and punched, angry and distraught and so many other things. He wanted order. He needed something to ground him. Right now, that was the stinging pain in his knuckles. He punched the doors again and again until his fist was as numb as he was inside. He fell to his knees, crying weakly.
Maddie came in, silently sitting next to him on the floor. She didn't try reassuring him that she'd be okay because truth be told, she was terrified too. She also knew nothing she said would help ease his pain. So she simply laid a gentle hand on his cheek, turning his face to her. She smiled softly, pulling his head forward and placing a gentle kiss to his forehead. He leaned on her, laying his head on her shoulder as he sobbed tiredly.
"I just need to know that she's okay." He croaked weakly. "I just need her to be okay." He sobbed.
"Shh," she cooed softly, "I know." She whispered. She held his shoulders, letting her own tears fall.
"I'm not going to lie to you and say it'll be okay. I don't know if she's going to make it, and I won't try to pretend that I do. But I know one thing: she is incredibly strong." She said, pulling him away just enough to look him in the eye.
"She's got a lot of fire left in her, still got a lot of fight left. She doesn't give up easily, and I refuse to believe that this time is going to be any different. She's too stubborn and bull headed to let someone else decide when it's her time to leave. And I have that to hold onto." She said.
He smiled faintly. "Thank you." He whispered. "That helps." He said, nodding as he closed his eyes.
"You need to go home and rest." She said concerned.
He shook his head. "I can't sleep without knowing she's okay." He said defiantly.
Just then, Chimney ran in, Jee on his hip. "It's the hospital." He panted. "They've got news on Y/n." He said.
Maddie and Buck shot up from the floor, running out to the main floor where Bobby was on the phone with the doctor.
"Here they are, I'm putting you on speaker." He said when Maddie and Buck approached.
"I'm relieved to call with good news. Ms Y/l/n made it." He said relieved.
A collection of cheers sounded throughout the firehouse. And for the first time since she was shot, Buck felt all the tension leave his body. "Thank god." He muttered to himself.
"She suffered slight head trauma when she fell, and with the pain medication she's on, she'll probably be out for a while." He said.
"When can we see her?" Hen asked antsy.
"You can come down now if you'd like. Visiting hours are over, but I'll make an exception this time." He said.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." Bobby said.
Before he even ended the call, Buck was running to his jeep. He sped to the hospital, probably breaking several traffic laws on the way, but at the moment, he could care less. All he could think was, 'She's alive. She's really alive. She's okay.' In that moment, nothing else mattered to him. She was alive. That's all that he cared about.
He ran up to the receptionist, and as soon as he had her room number, he was running up the stairs.
The elevator might've been quicker, but the burn in his legs and the sharp jab in his gut as he took the stairs two at a time reminded him that he was awake, that it was real. She was really okay.
He saw her through the large window in the wall, the door slightly ajar. All the air left his lungs. He couldn't describe the immense relief any other way.
He rushed to her side, dropping into the chair beside her bed. The back of her gown was open, the bandages peeking through. Before he even registered it, he was tucking the blanket over her exposed skin. He took her hand in his, feeling her warm skin against his. He sighed, leaning his forehead against their intertwined hands. Up until now, he hadn't realized just how tired he was. His face was probably all red and puffy from crying, but he didn't care all that much anymore. He'd hang the moon if it meant she would be okay. He'd hold the sky up for her if it meant he would see her smile again. He didn't care. All that mattered to him was that she was safe.
She groaned, squeezing his hand in hers. "Hey, Buckley." She croaked out with a dry throat.
He smiled, remembering when she would call him that when they first got to know each other. At first, it was because she was bad at remembering names and relied on the name tags. Then, it became a way for her to tease him because she knew he didn't like it. He would always respond with her last name, too, but it was only her and a few other people who were allowed to call him that. The few other people being Hen, Chim, Bobby, and Eddie. And of course, his sister, but she only really did when he was about to be reprimanded for something. Other than that, no one else was allowed to use his full name. She was even allowed to call him Evan, but she only used it when it was just them.
"Hey, Y/l/n." He responded softly. He gently handed her the cup of ice water from the table beside her bed, helping her sit up slightly so she could take a drink. She nodded when she was finished and he set it down.
She smiled at him fondly. "You were right." She said. "Maybe I was being a little dramatic." She joked lightheartedly.
Maybe he wasn't in the mood, but that struck a cord with him. "You weren't being dramatic, Y/n, you flatlined. You almost died." He said seriously.
Her eyes widened and she sat forward slightly. "I- what?" She asked shocked.
His eyes began to water, and his had shook slightly. "You were dead. I thought you were gone. I was so scared." He whispered meekly.
She frowned, pulling his face to hers. She rested her forehead against his, gently wiping his tears away. "Hey, I'm right here, okay? I'm not going anywhere anytime soon." She whispered.
"You almost died. I didn't know what I was going to do if you didn't make it. I wasn't sure I could live with myself." He said softly. "I need you here. I've never loved anyone the way I love you." He admitted. He wasn't too particularly happy with the time and place, but he couldn't wait any longer. He needed to know he told her. He needed to know he said it.
She kissed him deeply, putting everything she was trying to tell him in it. That she was real, and she was alive. She wasn't going anywhere. That she loved him too.
"I love you. God, I've wanted to tell you for so long but I was too scared." He said.
"What made you not be scared anymore?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm still scared. I'm scared if we go all in and it ends badly, that I'll lose my best friend and the best thing that's ever happened to me. But seeing you lay lifeless on the gurney scared me way more. I'm still scared, but not as scared as I was when I thought you died." He said.
Her face fell. "Oh, God, you saw me flatline?" She said, a mix of emotions crossing her face. He just nodded sadly.
"I saw through the window. There was so much blood. It's something that's going to haunt my nightmares for the foreseeable future." He said.
She stroked his cheek gently. "You said I could say it when I was better. Can I say it now?" She asked.
He closed his eyes and nodded. "Please."
"I love you, Evan Buckley." She said smiling.
He smiled relieved. She leaned her forehead against his again. "I love you so much." She whispered. "I love you, I love you, I love you." She said, peppering his face with kisses until he finally smiled. "There it is." She said softly.
"I'm never letting you go again." He said, gently pulling her into his chest to hug her, just wanted to hold her for a little while.
"Well, that's good, 'cus I'm never leaving your side." She said, sinking into his embrace.
Eventually, after a grueling 30 minutes of being stuck in traffic due to a pileup, the team finally made it to the hospital, only to find Y/n and Buck asleep.
Y/n lay back, the bed sitting up slightly, but not much. Buck lay right next to her chest, her arm over his shoulders, and their fingers entwined. It looked like they fell asleep talking and watching 'Gone With The Wind' on some channel. They all smiled at the sight, happy to see the two finally relaxed.
Each one took a seat somewhere and eventually fell asleep themselves. They weren't about to leave without giving Y/n a hug and reminding her how much they love her. Besides, they were all exhausted. Physically, emotionally, and mentally. The hospital wasn't the best place to sleep, but they weren't about to leave their youngest member alone in a hospital room, let alone let Buck be there by himself. And maybe it was to make themselves feel better because they were all worried sick about her. Or maybe it was for her and Buck. All they knew: they weren't leaving her alone again.

Labyrinth | Evan Buckley
reader x evan buckley (911)
a/n: new show, new post. i don’t make the rules.
masterlist
Tumblr media
You hated the way your heart felt in your chest whenever Evan Buckley would look at you with those stupid, annoying Evan Buckley eyes— like it was weightless, floating around your body between where it was supposed to be, your chest, to the pit of your stomach and then all the way down to your toes.
You hated the smile that was tattooed to your face when you chatted with the man, he could make the weather report interesting you swore it.
And the fact that he looked at you the same way that you looked at him? Well you hated that more than anything.
It was easy to pretend you felt nothing when you knew there truly was nothing. But then you started to look into the man’s eyes and see your future in their soft edges and endless pools of blue— in his even softer smile that was reserved only for you. The smile that would grow against his will at the sight of your own.
You ran into burning buildings as a living. You’ve jumped off of roofs and kicked down doors and nearly died more times than you could count— and the unknown, what could happen between you and the man that you had just come to terms with being in love with, well that was the scariest thing you had ever faced.
And the fact that you knew in your soul that he loved you back— that made it scarier. Because if Evan Buckley broke your heart, you weren’t sure you would ever recover.
Your head was thrown back in laugher at whatever stupid story Buck was telling, something about him swearing that his apartment was, without a doubt, haunted. And how the ghost was moving things to taunt him. (Little did the man know that it was most definitely Eddie and everyone in the 118 had been feeding the man ideas on what to do next for the past two months.)
His hands were moving around in that animated way that made the corners of your lips quirk upwards unnaturally, that big smile that was reserved only for him. “It’s not funny.” He insisted, fighting the grin but unable to not smile back.
“It’s a little bit funny.” You shrugged, pinching your fingers together with little space in between. “Do you need me to come scare the ghosts away for you.”
“Yes, actually.” He huffed, arms now crossed over his chest, pout painted on his pretty pink lips. “But if you end up possessed, don’t come crying to me.”
“Wow,” you floundered in mock offense, “so you wouldn’t save me? That’s unbelievably fake of you I can’t lie.”
Buck was silent for a moment, eyes finding yours with a misplaced seriousness considering the conversation you were nearly an hour into,
“I’d do literally anything for you.”
You felt the words tattoo themselves to your heart. You knew he meant it.
It clicked in that moment— what it was you weren’t entirely sure, but all at once you felt nothing. Nothing aside from the hand of yours that found his across the table, not remembering reaching over in the first place, and the warmth that found its place in your chest.
Again you watched your future in those blue eyes before speaking. “You scare me.” You admit finally after a moment of just watching— understanding each other.
He nodded knowingly.
“But I’m tired of being scared, Buck. I just wanna be happy.”
He turned his hand over to grab yours, fingers interlocking as he brought them up to those impossibly distracting lips of his. “You make me so happy.” He practically whispered against the back of your hand, pressing a kiss so soft into the skin, you weren’t sure if you had imagined it.
“Let me love you. Please let me love you, I’m so tired of pretending like I don’t.” You felt the passion in his voice down to your toes. That feather light feeling in your chest returned, and for once your brain wasn’t telling you to run.
“You’re really bad at pretending.” You whisper with a soft smile. “I don’t wanna be scared anymore.” You admit in a more serious tone. “I want to be loved by you, Buck.” You affirmed with a nod, hoping you wouldn’t regret it— knowing you wouldn’t.
His hand dropped yours, moving to cradle your face instead. He was so gentle, his eyes were so soft— you brought your fingers up to lightly pinch his chin, eyes fluttering closed as you moved in close enough for his nose to brush yours.
“I love you.” You finally admitted, the words that once held heavy in your tongue being set free.
He was quick to pull you in closer, lips meeting yours in the slowest, softest kiss of your life. One you weren’t sure you’d ever admit to having dreamt about.
It was still so so scary— loving Buck, letting him love you.
But even more worth it

Hello can you make Maddie and Buck's little sister who is a teenager has an accident or is injured and she calls 911 to find her sister who sends the firefighter and her brother and in a panic with Maddie on the phone who is panicking too
Tumblr media
ᕚ---ᕘ
With a choked gasp, you startled and looked around in a halting darkness that human eyes could never adjust to. Cold, rough chunks of concrete that painfully buried you underneath did not let in any light. Not the slightest ray could stray through it.
Orientation in the blackness was almost impossible and the disorientation made you seem even more helpless than you already were. "Hello? Can someone hear me?" Struggling to lend strength to your dusty voice, you tried to straighten your torso, but a searing pain tore through the upper left quadrant of your abdomen prevented you.
The air was damp, musty and cold. Fine particles of the collapsed concrete still trickled onto your tear-streaked face, while your lungs filled with a teaspoon of dust with every breath you took.
You did not know if you were alone when the parking deck collapsed on itself, but the thought that someone else might be trapped in her, or possibly even dead, frightened you. "Please, is someone here?"
The vibrating of your phone pulled you back from your thoughts. Totally forgetting you had it with you and surprised to find it had still a transmission to the outside world, you were grateful.
Silently and cautiously, you pulled out your phone with shaky, wet hands and clung to the piece of plastic, trying to shed some light on your situation. It was only through the brightness of the screen that you had realized, you were in more trouble than you thought you were.
The liquid on your hands was nothing more than dark red blood stretching across your fingers and was trickling down your wrist. Your leg was buried below the knee under a steel beam, which is why you had long lost feeling in it while a small iron rod protruded from your torso and penetrated your lower ribs.
"Crap," you moaned disconcertingly and laid your head back down on the concrete slab that allowed and supported to keep your upper body upright. The chunks of gray stone that had embedded your body, shifted cruelly under your movements, some small pieces trickling down on you from above.
Covering your eyes protectively, you could not feel if new small wounds adorned your skin and you did not dare to move any further to check which put your heart in a more obvious state of panic, but you hardly felt the beating in your chest. It slowed down.
With the last ounce of your strength steadily oozing out with the blood from your wounds, you dialed 911 hoping the network would hold up this conversation. After all, you were buried under debris that could interfere with the signal. "911, what is your emergency?"
"Maddie," you groaned wearily, instantly recognizing your eldest sibling through the cracking line. Her voice was dulled and partially interrupted, yet you felt a deep sense of relief to hear it. You were not alone anymore. "I-I need help"
The brunettes breath caught in her throat as your faint and barely audible voice entered her ears. It had come as quite a shock to Maddie, when she unsuspectingly had you on the helpline and found a chilling story about your well-being. "Y/n, where are you? Are you okay? What happened?"
"T-the parking garage at Cherokee Avenue collapsed," like a second hand, sweat formed on your forehead, although the warmth had long left. Dizziness caught up with you, but with a lot of luck and willpower, you managed to escape it and searched for a spot to focus on in the slightly lit environment. "I am buried under the rubble"
"Oh my god, a-are you hurt?"
"My leg is crushed. A metal rod is sticking out of my stomach, it hurts terribly. I am losing an awful lot of blood," Maddie had to listen helplessly to the spectacle that was taking place in disbelief and bewilderment. Absentmindedly, she fiddled with the keyboard and at the same time played with her private phone to call and inform your brother.
Meanwhile, the air was becoming increasingly scarce. Under no circumstances should you breathe in too deeply, using the precious oxygen sparingly. "I can not breathe," it came hoarsely from your lips as tears streamed unabashedly down your face.
A fit of coughing shook you and an iron taste kindled in your mouth. You could hardly breathe, the oxygen supply was running out and your lungs were heavier by the minutes. Just as quickly, the fear of endless, terrifying darkness and the cold that towered over you.
"I do not want to die, Maddie," you sobbed into the phone, the optimism of getting out of her alive dwindling. Walled under concrete and buried under dust, you knew no way out and fear filled you more with every passing minute. "You will not, sweetheart. Buck is on the way, you just have to hold on. Hold on and listen to me while we wait together for your brother, okay?"
The familiarity of Maddie´s voice allowed you to remain calm, at least on the surface, while your soul rampaged around the stable like a panicked horse. And so you had begun to wait for the approaching help with the fear of death and the agony that awaited you.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The sun was already beginning to set and the clouds hung gray in the sky as the team around Bobby Nash drove up to the scene. Upon arrival, the remains of various building material and destroyed vehicles were scattered on the crumbling ground.
Cold, dusty air blew in the faces of the team and the feeling that was churning in them as they saw the collapsed building, knowing you were under there, stretched bitterly through their chest. With heavy strides, Evan Buckley ran up to the top of the rubble, his phone clutched tightly to his ear, frantically calling your name while following his sisters panicked statements.
With his right leg, he swept away the small chunks and bits of metal. "Y/n!" his voice sounded rough and scratchy, he could no longer think clearly when uncertainty and sadness overcame him. "Where are you?"
Huffing and distraught, tears welled up in his eyes as he watched his teammates pull some stones from the pile. Evan rushed and jumped down, desperate to get through to you with all of his accumulated power. "Maddie, I can not hear her, is she still there?" with a jerk, he thoughtfully scratched the back of his head while biting his bottom lip hard and tasting the stale taste of blood.
He felt like complete destruction.
"Call is ongoing, but she is not responding to me anymore!" Maddie answered. Hard, he pounded his fist against the stones until his knuckles were severely sore and bleeding, only to repeat the procedure in frustration. Evan Buckley possessed a mental strength that was admired by everyone. But when it came to his little sister, he lost all of the stability and raged through life like a tornado. "Come on, move. We have to get her out of here"
As they spent hours trying to dig their way out to you, you vacillated between consciousness and unconsciousness. The phone meanwhile had slipped out of your hand and was inaccessible, nevertheless your sister was still panicking on the receiver, calling your name several times unsuccessfully.
You had no strength, empty air escaped your mouth instead of simple words.
From afar, you heard murmuring voices gathering around you. They talked frantically and at once a while some of them screamed and interrupted the conversations. Everyone seemed so far away, that you hardly could understood their words. "Y/n, where are you?"
"I am here, please" you whispered in a low voice that was probably barely audible. A violent chill went through you as the voices slowly approached and called out to you. The ground beneath you vibrated, bits and pieces of thick stone clamped above you, whose pillar was preventing it from coming down and crushing you, rained down dust before moments later a faint, dirty light flooded your place through a small crack.
"We found her!"

A/N: If you like my work please comment like and reblog it means a lot to see interactions on my work !
Y/N”S POV
Being a firefighter had a lot of perks. Not only did you get to save lives but you also got to gain a family along the way. You originally weren’t from LA so you always felt a little alone. But then all that changed when you joined the 118.
Everyone welcomed you with open arms. You were the last one to join the group so you were a little intimated.
But they made you feel like you belonged from the moment you walked through the doors.
You became really close with Eddie and his son Chris. You spent all your time off with them and would always take Chris out to do fun things. You guys really bonded and you felt like you meant something to someone.
Buck was always there too and it was hard not to get feelings for the blonde. He was a second dad to Chris.
You would sometimes catch yourself daydreaming about having your own family with him.
The two of you also had a lot in common. You loved the same music, the same tv shows. He always made you laugh even when he wasn’t meaning to.
You could relate also to the family situation that he had. Being away from home and having a complicated relationship with your parents.
It’s also the reason why you left home to. To be able to start a new life for yourself.
You thought about asking him out so many times but it just never seemed like the right moment. Either the bells went off or Chris would come in. You took this as a sign that it just wasn’t supposed to happen between the two of you.
If you needed another sign that maybe it wasn’t supposed to be when he started dating Taylor
. You never really liked her and not just because Buck was head over heels in love with her. She always gave you the worst vibes. She always seemed like she had some kind of hidden agenda.
Eddie agreed with you but you thought he was just agreeing with you because he was your friend.
He kept trying to convince you that the two of you belonged together but you didn’t believe it.
You guys were wrapping up your shift. It was long and all you wanted to do was go home and kick back and eat pizza. Chris had coming up running to you breaking you out of your thoughts.
“Y/N hey I missed you” Chris said grabbing you in a big hug.
“Hey bud I missed you to what are you doing here” You asked
“Carla dropped me off she had somewhere to go so she dropped me off to have dad take me home are you coming over tonight” Chris asked.
“Yeah Y/N come on over Chris really misses you ” Eddie said
“I don’t guys i’m tired maybe i should just go home besides I took all my clothes home to wash already so I don’t even have anything” You said smiling up at them.
“Listen we all know why your being a little sad it’s pretty obvious” Eddie said looking over at Buck and Taylor who were laughing with each other.
“It’s not about them besides I’m happy for them. They both seem really happy together” You said glancing over at them.
““oh come on you just need to tell Buck how you feel, you would be better together then him and Taylor I didn’t tell him but there’s just something about that relationship that’s just off, also I have a extra shirt downtown would you mind spending the night with Christopher?“ Eddie said.
He slapped me in the arm hard and I looked up and pouted at him
““oh just shut up,he’s in love with her and they are happy what kinda person would that make me ruining that,an you know I would always watch Christopher that was stupid I love him maybe even just as much as you to the point you ain’t getting him back” Y/N said
The two of you ran off to your car after leaving Eddie behind in the dust. Maybe you did need this. Eddie was right that you were just upset over Buck. But you weren’t going to admit that to him.
Buck’s POV
Taylor texted me she was coming over to the firehouse. I mean was I happy to see her of course but also I didn’t want her coming around here.
I mean I just didn’t want Y/N to see her. Not that Y/N was mean or anything I know I’m rambling but the whole thing is really complicated.
I was maybe In love with Y/N which I know is wrong to say because I’m in a relationship and were just friends.
But i never thought she would see me the same way. I always also though she had something going on with Eddie.
The two of them always seemed close. She was going over his house all the time. I mean I couldn’t compete with all that.
When I meant Taylor it was just fun and casual. Then things started to become more serious between the two of us. I really did like her but it just wasn’t the same kind of love I had for Y/N.
I could always tell that no one else in the firehouse really liked her. I mean part of it hurt because it was the person I was dating but then on the other hand. I knew why they had those kinds of feelings for her.
Taylor did always take advantage of situations sometimes when she saw a good story. It was a constant reason why we were always fighting.
Eddie and Y/n were sitting by the fire truck laughing and talking to each other and I wanted to go and join but I didn’t think it was a good idea. I just decided to wait off to the sides. I didn’t want to interrupt whatever was going over there anyways.
I pulled out my phone and started going through social media hoping to just kill some time.
“Hey you what are you doing” Taylor asked coming up and tapping me on my elbow.
“Nothing just waiting on you are you ready to go” I asked putting my phone in my pocket.
We started walking towards my car and I passed Eddie and Y/N Talking to each other.
“oh come on you just need to tell Buck how you feel, you would be better together then him and Taylor I didn’t tell him but there’s just something about that relationship that’s just off, also I have a extra shirt downtown would you mind spending the night with Christopher?“ Eddie said
“oh just shut up,he’s in love with her and they are happy what kinda person would that make me ruining that,an you know I would always watch Christopher that was stupid I love him maybe even just as much as you to the point you ain’t getting him back” Y/N said.
When i heard her say that it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest it was beating so fast.
I cracked a smile also thinking that Y/N was also in love with me. That her and Eddie weren’t together like I thought.
I wanted to go and confront her before she took off but that didn’t seem like the best move.
Also I didn’t want to say anything just incase she changed her mind. But I also felt like I needed to go and say something.
It just felt like my head was spinning and I didn’t know what to say or think. That I didn’t want to screw up and besides it seemed like an invasion of their privacy listening in on their conversation.
I snapped out of my thoughts before I ended up thinking to hard about this and bursting a blood vessel or something.
Me and Taylor got into my truck and then i took off into the direction of my apartment.
“Your being quiet” Taylor said.
“Yeah sorry just a long day at work” I said
“I get that I’m here if you wanna talk about it” Taylor said
“Thanks” I said letting the conversation fall.
LA Traffic was awful so we reached my apartment about 45 minutes later. We both got out and made our way upstairs.
When we got in I just dropped my stuff down and went and flopped on the couch.
Taylor came and sat next to me and looked up and smiled.
“So what’s the plans for tonight because I don’t feel like just sitting in the apartment I wanna go and do something” She said.
“I know I get that and honestly I’m really tired and would rather just do some take out and watch some movies” I told her.
“That’s what we did the last time we hung out” Taylor said pouting.
“I know and I’m sorry but work was a lot and I’m just tired” I said sitting up to look at her.
“Look is there something else going on” Taylor said
“No what makes you thinks that It’s just we had a lot of calls and I’m not in the mood to go out and get drunk or party” I said being honest with her.
“Fine but I’m going out I’ll text you okay” Taylor said
“Yeah okay” I said not in the mood to fight.
This whole thing even before the conversation I heard earlier this whole relationship just felt like it was running on it’s last leg.
I got a buzz on my phone and groaned but then picked it up to see who it was.
It was from Y/N and I smiled and picked it up my mood shifting to see it was her.
It was a pic and I opened it up to see her and chris smiling into the camera. She sent another text saying.
“Eddie’s out on a date and Chris wants to see his uncle buck want to come over for Pizza and Movies” She asked
I quickly texted her back
“Hell Yeah I’m on my way” I sent her back.
“We can’t wait to see you !” Y/N said back
I grabbed my stuff and ran out there. Eddie’s house wasn’t that far. I was smiling ear to ear heading over to them.
When I got there I ran out the Jeep and went up to his front door knocking on it. Chris was the one who answered it. He looked up and smiled at me.
“Uncle Buck is here” He shouted.
Y/N walked to the door in Eddie’s T-Shirt and sweatpants. She smiled real big when she saw me.
“Thanks for coming you got here quick” She said
“Yeah I was in the area and came right over” I said
“Come on Pizza is on the way were picking out a movie” Chris said.
“Awesome because I am starving” I said.
We walked in and made our way to the couch. I kicked off my shoe and took of my jacket and headed over to the couch.
“So what’s on the list” I asked
“Were stuck between Toy story and a marvel movie” Y/N said.
“Well me personally Toy story is a classic we can’t beat that” I said
Chris laughed and i looked at him confused
“That’s what Y/N said” Chris said.
“Because it is a classic a true timeless original” Y/N said.
“And 2 out 3 wins so I’ll just go ahead and put it on” Y/n said.
She took the remote and put it on. Chris groaned a little but we both just laughed him off. A little bit into the movie the pizza came.
“Pizza’s here Yay” Chris yelled
“I got it” Y/N said getting up
“I’m glad you came and it was Y/N”s idea to invite you over she was thinking about you” Chris said laughing
“Well I’m glad because I didn’t want to be alone tonight” I said smiling.
I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks from the mention that Y/N wanted to see me.
A few minutes later she came back and put down pizza’s and sodas and a bunch of other stuff to.
“Were having a feast tonight” Y/N said
“ I can see that look at all this” I said
“It’s friday night we need to party” She said.
I laughed and we all dug into the food. It was really good. She had gotten pizza ,wings ,fries and mozzarella sticks. We all ate good until we thought we were going to burst. We finished the movie too.
Chris fell asleep not to long after eating so it was just me and Y/N finishing the movie. It was really nice just to sit back and enjoy each other presence.
When the movie ended she looked over at me and smiled.
“Hey will you help me take him to his bed” She said
“Of course” I said getting up and picking up Chris and carrying him to his room. Y/N followed behind me and I laid Chris down on his bed and tucked him in.
“Good night buddy” I said to him
“Good night love see you in the morning sweet dreams” She said to him.
We turned out the lights and quietly headed out.
We made our way back into the living room and I helped her clean up the dinner mess.
“Thanks for coming by It really means a lot I hope I didn’t mess anything up for you” Y/N said
“Oh absolutely not I wasn’t doing anything I’m glad you invited me over” I said
I decided to speak up and shoot my shot. It seemed like a good time now and I didn’t want to not say anything and just loose the chance.
“ I heard your uh conversation earlier with Eddie” I said
“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t want to mess anything up with you guys im sorry” Y/N said her face turning bright red.
“No it’s okay I’m not bringing this up because I’m mad in anyway i’m saying it because I want you to know I love you I have for a while now and I didn’t think i stood a chance” I said playing with my hands nervously.
Y?N walked over and grabbed my hands and looked up at me and smiled
“You always stood a chance with me. I love you to I have been in love with you for a while but you were with Taylor and I didn’t think i had a chance you know” She said.
“Maybe we both should have just talked to each other” I said laughing
“When did you grow up” Y/N said smiling.
“Well as a I get older I do get a little wiser” I said
“Oh yeah well in your case that might not be true at all” She said poking me
“Ouch that kinda hurt my feelings” I said pouting
“Oh just shut up and kiss me already” Y/N said.
“Yes Mam’am” I said
I leaned down and kissed her and she kissed me back.It was short and sweet. But it really meant a lot.
We broke the kiss and we just looked into each others eyes and smiled before pulling away.
“What about taylor” Y/N asked
“That relationship is over I’ll talk to her in the morning I promise” I said
“Good because I wanna start this off right the last thing we need is that bad karma out there in the world” She said
“ I agree” I told her leaning down and kissing her again.
Suddenly the door opened up and I heard someone loudly clearing their throat.
“I’m gone out one night and I come home to this in my own home” Eddie said a little loud
“First off all stop being dramatic it could be a lot worse second off shh man Chris is sleeping” Y/N said
“Yeah yeah what ever I’m going to bed good night little love birds” Eddie said stumbling into his room.
“That man is clearly drunk but also i’m glad he had fun” she said laughing
“He’s gonna regret that in the morning” I said laughing.
“You want to watch Toy Story 2 and eat more cold pizza” Y/N said.
“I would love that let me go grab the spare blankets and pillows” I said
“I am going to get us some drinks” Y/n said
I went off and grabbed some stuff from the closet and Eddie was passed out on the bed in his clothes. I just laughed and took a pic of him.
I went back to the living room and Y/n was setting up the movie for us. I sat down and passed out the blanket and pillows.
We got comfortable and we started on the second movie. She leaned her head on me. I smiled down at her.
I was so glad I came over and glad I opened up. We ended up both falling asleep after that movie. I was glad I decided to come over here tonight and be with my family.

"I can't believe you actually talked us into this." Eddie said with a sigh and shake of his head.
"Come on it'll be fun." Buck said cheerfully as he pulled flashlights out of his backpack and began passing them out.
"I don't know if I would classify walking around an old abandoned hospital as fun." Hen said as she leaned against the car.
"You all said you weren't really feeling the holiday spirit right? This'll help."
"Yeah, it'll help me have nightmares." You mumbled from beside Eddie, who smiled down at you in amusement.
You looked around the area, eyeing the tall trees scattered around. You had driven nearly thirty minutes out of the city to get here, and the sun was setting quicker than you liked.
"And you're certain we're not trespassing Buck?" Athena said with a pointed look at him.
You were surprised she even showed up, but you had an underlying feeling it was because she was worried something bad might happen.
He nodded his head "A friend owns the property, trust me, he said it was fine we were here tonight."
"Maybe Buck's right, we all need a little holiday spirit." Bobby spoke.
He was the obvious skeptic, but man, did that man love a team bonding exercise.
"Don't people usually say that about Christmas?" Chimney asked
Buck handed him a flashlight "You need Halloween spirit too. Okay, come on."
Turning on the flashlight Buck gave you as you all headed into the large building, you looped your arm through Eddie's.
Looking around the lobby of the building, it gave off an eerie feeling. Old chairs littered the room, some toppled over, some broken. It was cold, and dark, and every footstep echoed down the nearby hall.
"Creepy." You muttered as a chill ran down your spine.
As you walked past the lobby and into the old emergency room, you eyed an old hospital bed, sheet's still present, but covered in a dark rusty stain.
"Why did this place shut down again?" You asked softly, feeling goosebumps cover your arms.
"And when? This place looks ancient." Hen added on.
"It was shut down in the 50's due to a bunch of patients dying in odd circumstances. Also a lot of patients went missing."
"Excuse me?" Athena asked with raised interest "There better me more to that story."
"Oh yeah. Three doctors ended up confessing to murdering a bunch of patients. They did experiments on them and everything."
"What the-"
Hen's sentence was cut off as a loud bang sounded from the floor above you. You flinched, gripping your flashlight tightly in one hand, and Eddie's arm in the other.
"Okay guys, be careful, there could be squatters here." Bobby said, voice filled with concern.
"Or ghosts." Buck added.
"Don't worry, I've got my taser on me." Athena said
"How would that help with ghosts?" Buck looked over at her.
She rose her brow at him, and he shrugged "Seriously?"
"What?"
"It may not help with ghosts, but it'll sure as hell, help with some real madman who might attack us." She said with a tone that already said she was done with Buck.
"Oh, yeah. Right."
You scoffed in amusement, as you looked around. As your eyes cast over a nearby room, you jumped as you thought you saw something dart away from the door.
"What?" Eddie asked, causing the others to look over.
"I thought I saw something in there." You pointed your flashlight into the door, while speaking softly.
Athena walked over, quickly pushing open and the door and peaking in.
She looked at you and shook her head "Nothing."
"Or something." Evan said.
Yours and Athena's head snapped towards him as she shrugged "What? Could be!"
"You okay?" Eddie whispered to you.
You nodded as you tore our eyes away from the empty room, your heart pounding. "Yeah, it was probably just my shadow."
Eddie could hear the doubt in your tone, he squeezed your arm lightly as you continued to walk through the hospital.
Your whole group came to a sudden halt when you heard the clear sound of conversation coming from down the hall. As you stopped and listened the voices ceased.
"Those were definitely voices."
"Are you sure there aren't homeless people here?" Chimney asked as he and Hen clung to one another.
"My friend said they never get people in here anymore. It's too scary for even homeless people to stay in."
"That's comforting" You muttered.
Creeping closer, you approached the cafeteria, the room the voices came from.
As Buck peaked in, he looked back at you, clearly shaken. Pushing open the door, he spoke "There's no one in here."
As you all entered into the room, you looked around. A few tables and chairs remained, some papers and trash scattered on the floor.
"This is definitley where the voices were coming from." Bobby said, and you noted the uneasiness of his tone.
"Is anyone here with us?" Buck asked aloud.
"What are you doing?!" Hen asked with bewilderment.
Buck looked over at her and raised his arms "What? I'm communicating."
"Could you not?" Chimney said in a monotone voice.
"It's why we're here dude."
"You said we were gonna check out a creepy hospital, not go ghost hunting Buck." Eddie said.
Hearing shuffling footsteps coming from the hall, you all turned with surprise. Your breath hitched in your throat as you and Eddie stepped back, further away from the doors.
Athena stepped forward, shining her light through the window.
The footsteps got louder and louder before they stopped just outside the cafeteria doors. As Bobby and Athena pushed the doors open and looked down the hall they stared with clearly shocked faces.
"There's no one, right?" Buck asked, a small amount of smugness in his tone.
Athena and Bobby looked in at you all and you could tell from their faces, that Buck was right.
"I hate this." You said sotly.
Eddie nodded "Me too." He leaned down a bit "But I got you, okay?"
You nodded softly as he pressed a soft kiss to your temple.
"Okay, let's go." Buck said as he headed towards the hall.
"Where are you going now?" Eddie asked with obvious exasperation.
"Upstairs?"
You all sang out a chorus of no's, and no way's, and Buck pouted. "Come on guys! We came all the way out here."
Chimney sighed and shook his head "Fine, I'll go, but just because I know if no one does, you'll go by yourself."
"Yeah, okay, you two go have fun, we'll stay down here." Hen said with a determined voice.
"I'll go too, who knows what trouble you two might get into up there." Bobby said as he followed Chimney and Buck towards the staircase.
"Yeah, I'm staying right here." Hen said as she sat down at one of the tables.
You let out a along breath as you looked around the dark and creepy cafeteria.
"Come on." Eddie said as he lead you to sit down as well.
"What could lead doctors to do such horrible things to their patients?" You asked after a few moments of eerie silence.
Hen shook her head "Evil people who think they can become Gods."
Hearing a thud from the furthest side of the cafeteria, you all flinched, shining your lights around. Seeing nothing, you all let out breaths. You weren't sure if it was better to see something, or nothing, neither option was great.
You held onto Eddie's arm a little bit tighter as your eyes darted around the room.
After nearly twenty minutes, and too many unexplained noises, you all began to grow antsy.
"Alright, I'm gong to go get them, it's been too damn long." Athena said as she stood.
You all stood as well, knowing it was best you all went together. As you walked out into the hallway, you stopped and listening, hearing nothing.
"Its way too quiet in here." Hen mumbled.
As you all walked towards the staircase, your hand was tight in Eddie's. You felt your chest clenched tightly as your heart refused to slow down.
"AHHH"
You all yelled out in fear and surprise as Buck and Chimney jumped down from the staircase yelling.
After a chorus of insults and yelling, Buck and Chimney chuckled and rose up their hands "Sorry, sorry, couldn't help it."
Bobby came down from behind them, shaking his head, but clearly repressing a laugh. Athena have him a pointed look and he raised his hands up and shrugged.
"You guys wont believe what happened up there." Buck began.
"Oh my God, honestly it was so creepy."
"And I got it all on camera! Voices, banging, a door opened by itself. Even Bobby couldn't explain any of it."
You all looked at Bobby who shrugged "I honestly can't."
"That's great, I'm so happy for you, you had an experience. Can we leave now?" Hen said, with clear frustration.
"Aw come on, just a little longer" Buck asked.
As you all opened your mouths to protest, you all froze, hearing a loud squeaking coming from further down the hall. As all your heads turned, you looked down the darkened hallway, as the squeaking got louder.
From an open doorway, you all watched with bated breaths as an empty wheelchair rolled out into the hallway, turning to face you all, before stopping. All your mouths were agape, as your hearts were beating heavy and fast.
"Aw, hell no." Athena muttered. "What the fu-" Chimney began. "Nope." You said as you tugged Eddies arm.
Getting exactly what you wanted, he began backing away. Patting Buck on the arm, he nodded "Sorry Buck, you can stay if you want, but we're leaving."
"I second that."
"Yeah, screw this."
Buck watched as all of you began quickly rushing to leave before he glanced at the wheelchair one more time, before turning to follow all of you, yelling out "That was awesome!"

Masterlist
Tumblr media
It started with a phone call.
It had been a typical day for the 118. The sun was shining, the calls were coming in... normal. Eddie had dropped Christopher off with you in the morning since he wasn't in school, and then went to pick Buck up for work.
You'd been in LA for the past year, moving out to join your brother and when a transfer came up at work. It was your day off, so you'd been more than happy to take Chris when Eddie asked.
Hen and Chim had been called away during overhaul as they'd finished up another call. Some kind of shooting, they'd heard, and 118's ambulance was the closest. Bobby let them go as the others packed up to return to the station. That's when the call came in.
"Hey," Bobby answered his phone to his wife, pausing as he loaded the truck back up. Buck and Eddie continued with their tasks until they saw Bobby's face fall, Buck tapping Eddie's shoulder to where their Captain was standing, face stricken with concern as he glanced in their direction.
"Everything okay Cap?" Eddie asked, abandoning his job as they approached.
"You seem worried," Buck added, worry in his own voice.
"That was Athena," Bobby started, "you know that call Hen and Chim were called to a little bit ago?"
Both men nodded, wondering what this had to do with them.
"Well, it turns out that the car that was caught in the crossfire of the shootout... was Y/N's," Bobby said, looking to Eddie as his face fell, his breath catching in his throat.
"Is-" Buck tried to ask, Eddie too shocked by the news to form words.
"Chris is fine," Bobby said quickly, "Hen is with him at the hospital, but Y/N... she was hit twice, one in the chest, one in the shoulder- shielding Christopher. She's in surgery now, but it's critical."
Eddie had gone white, shaking. His baby sister, not his baby sister...
"Cap-" He began, kicking himself into gear. He had to get to the hospital, now.
"Go, both of you, I'll find cover for you hear," he ordered, Buck and Eddie nodding to each other before taking off as fast as they could.
It wasn't a long drive, but if felt like it.
On the way, Buck drove in silence, Eddie next to him trying to hold it together.
"It'll be okay," Buck said, but he didn't know whether he was trying to reassure Eddie or himself.
The truth was, since you'd moved to LA, he found himself falling more and more in love with you. You'd been there for him through his break up with Taylor, helped him process his feelings for Abby... and somewhere along the way, you'd entered his heart. He hadn't realised how much until he realised he may never get to tell you.
He thought back to when Abby had first returned, with someone else without a word. Afterwards, you'd stayed up all night with him eating ice cream and watching bad movies. You hadn't even known her, but you knew him, and you'd been there for him.
When he'd had a bad call and Taylor was working late, you'd been who he called to talk to without even thinking about it; you'd stayed on the phone with him for hours until one of you had fallen asleep, though you both disagreed as to who had fallen asleep first... He probably had, but he'd never admit it.
Or the day after he'd split with Taylor. It might have been his decision, but he'd still been feeling down about it. You'd noticed, and you and Chris had taken him out for the day to take his mind off of her. A server had told you both you made a good couple, and you had a lucky son, and while he'd smiled and you'd laughed, he'd never told you exactly how that had made him feel, or what it had made him realise.
Would he ever get the chance?
They got to the hospital, spotting Chim and Hen almost instantly as they signalled them over. Athena was there too, an arm around a shaken Christopher's shoulders.
"Dad!" He yelled, jumping up from his seat and rushing into Eddie's arms as he met him half way.
Chris had clearly been crying, he was shaking and there was blood on his clothes. Your blood.
"He wouldn't change or clean up until you were here," Athena said, wandering over to where Eddie was making sure Chris was okay, "in case something happened to Y/N while he was gone."
"We need to get you cleaned up buddy," Eddie told him, clearly conflicted about also leaving in case something happened to you.
"She's stable for now and in good hands," Hen informed him, trying to give him some reassurance.
"I'll wait for any news," Buck promised, and Eddie eventually nodded, leading Christopher somewhere else to get changed as Buck took a seat in the waiting area.
Athena sat next to him when he slumped down, a knowing look on her face. "You good?"
Buck didn't really know how to reply. "I just... feel like everyone leaves, you know?"
"Buck," Athena put a hand on his shoulder, causing him to look up from where he had rested his chin on his clasped hands. "I'm not an idiot."
"Is it that obvious?" He asked, sounding a little defeated but also relieved that someone else knew.
"That you have feelings for Y/N? I sussed it out," she replied with a small smile and a wink.
Buck ran a hand over his head and sighed, "I wish I'd said something, but I didn't want to overstep with Eddie, you know? Now she might not make it and-"
"Got a thing for my sister, huh?" Said a voice from behind them, causing Buck's head to snap back to see Eddie and Chris.
"Oooh la la," Chris grinned, cleaned up and clearly feeling more himself.
"Eddie-" Buck went to try and defend himself, but Eddie had more to say.
"Is it serious?" He asked, big brother mode activated.
"My feelings?" Buck checked, and Eddie nodded seriously.
"Very," Buck said sincerely, all his best friend needed before he smiled.
"If she- when she gets through this, she's going to need support," Eddie explained, knowing it would be a long road to recovery.
"I'm always going to be there for her, you know that, I-" Buck stopped himself before the words slipped out, but Eddie heard them.
"Love her?" Somehow, that didn't surprise him.
"You knew?" Buck looked confused, thinking he'd been so careful.
"I suspected," Eddie shrugged, taking a seat next to Chris.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Buck had been worried about how Eddie might react, but it hadn't occurred to him that he might have already figured it out.
"I wasn't 100% sure," Eddie told him honestly, "I needed to hear it from you."
"She feels the same way," Chris added, grinning.
"Chris," Eddie warned, ruffling his son's hair with a laugh, "but he isn't wrong though, she does. She'd kill me for telling you that but..."
Buck sighed with relief, glad you felt the same but annoyed at himself for not saying something sooner.
The doctor came out then, and everyone stood, waiting with baited breath.
"You can say what you need to in front of everyone," Eddie told the doctor, who nodded and addressed the group.
"She's going to be okay," sighs of relief all around, Buck clasped Eddie's shoulder as he nearly fell back into his seat.
Buck helped him sit and sat down himself, not hearing much else of what the doctor was telling Eddie. You were going to be okay.
He made a promise, then and there, to tell you when you'd recovered.
He didn't want to waste another moment.

heavy as ever (light as a feather) || buddie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author’s note: me?? Writing for something other than outer banks? It’s more likely than you’d think. Anyway, Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat wrote a gay anthem and it is my favorite All Time Low song and it is a Buddie song. So here’s almost 1500 words. Working title was “four times buck hears glitter & crimson by all time low + one time Eddie hears it with him.” You’re welcome.
Reminder: I am in the process of moving all my writing to this blog from my main blog. I mainly write for OBX and the actors there but there are a fair few of other fandoms mixed in. This is posted on ao3 under Vixfeetunder.
The first time Evan Buckley hears the song is through a wall.
It’s barely April, only three days in. Normally, Evan “Buck” Buckley didn’t pay attention to the various noises he heard through the walls of his apartment building. If he did, he’d be exposed to a lot more sexual noises than he’s willing to admit he’s comfortable with. While the loft is nice with his view and space, the walls are thin, and he makes a point to spend most of his alone time with headphones on.
However, that morning he’s faced with dead AirPods and running late for his shift, but he freezes as he hears the song through the wall. It sounds almost acoustic, but then the beat picks up and he can’t stop listening.
“I don’t want to wait until the sunshine fades and bury our love in a shallow grave.”
It’s a cute love song, he assumes, but he makes a mental note to google the lyrics later to find the song and listen to it properly.
Unfortunately for Buck, he doesn’t get the chance to look it up. The 118 are on non stop calls until the end of his shift, and he collapses into bed exhausted as soon as he’s home.
The second time he hears the song is as he’s leaving the grocery store.
If it were up to Buck, he’d survive off take out and spite but unfortunately for him, Eddie had seen the lack of food in his fridge and threatened to call his sister if he didn’t get groceries and something edible because mustard and bread that was on the verge of molding wouldn’t cut it. So he begrudgingly made his way to the grocery store, taking his time picking out fruit and veggies that he would try not to let go bad in his fridge, as well as some ready made things he could pop in the microwave after a long shift. Oh, and beer. Plenty of beer.
He’s just finishing up paying for the items when he hears the almost familiar tune of the song start playing. Part of him wants to take his time as he bags his own groceries to hear the whole song, but he decides against it, only hearing the first line as he walks out of the building.
“It’s a typical story, three in the morning.”
The third time he hears the song, he’s cleaning his apartment.
He doesn’t know how the song came about playing from his speaker as he washed the dishes, but it comes on the random Spotify station he’s listening to. This time, he catches the name of the song Glitter & Crimson and the band, All Time Low. The band sounds familiar, he thinks. Maybe it was a band he listened to in high school, or that’s popular on social media. (It’s both, he learns later. Their album Nothing Personal came out his senior year of high school, and their song Dear Maria, Count Me In is trending on TikTok). Either way, it is the first time he hears the song in full, and he can’t help but quickly add it to his liked songs. Hearing it once is one thing. Twice, that’s a coincidence. But three times? It’s like the universe is telling him to listen to the song,
He hums along like he’s always known the song, listening closely to the lyrics. It’s been months since he heard it the first time, but he does have to admit that he was right with his initial impression of it. It is a cute love song, but there’s something else. In his gut he feels like maybe this is a love song for people like him, the people whose love is still frowned upon in the year 2021.
Of course, it wasn’t like he was in the closet or something. No, he was out, at least to the people that mattered. The 118, Athena, Maddie, they all knew he was bisexual. His parents, however, he couldn’t care less if they ever found out about it, or their reaction over it. He was finally happy with who he was, and other people’s opinions didn’t matter to him, not anymore.
Unfortunately for Buck, he was cut short on finishing the song as he received a call from his sister, but he did catch a line that seemed to stick in his head.
“Hard to sit still when your head’s on fire.”
The fourth time Buck hears the song is live, but not by choice.
He didn’t willingly buy tickets for the concert, but he’d volunteered to help with first aid. Sad Summer Fest was set to be the next warped tour when it came to pop punk music, and it took him back to his high school days. It helped that he had heard of all the bands on the line up this year, sans a couple. He had seen the name of one of the headliners as he scanned the time sheet of sets, knowing that a couple bands were more likely to be sending mosh pit and crowd surfing injuries to the tent.
The show went off without a hitch, really. Buck and the other volunteers treated more dehydration than anything. There was a couple of alcohol poisonings, as well as a sprained ankle from the pit, but the show was enjoyable. He’s beginning to pack his part of the tent up when he hears the voice of All Time Low’s lead singer say that the next song is for the people about love and that love always wins.
He watches as amongst the crowd and darkening skies, hundreds of cell phone flashlights go up in the air, waving and bobbing as the song starts. There are teenagers and young adults clinging onto each other as they scream along to the song, and he’s sure some of them are crying.
And Buck? Well, he can’t help but watch in wonder as tears fill his eyes. Before he can realize what he’s doing, he’s pulling his cellphone out to capture the moment. He’s been to plenty of concerts in his lifetime but there’s something about this moment, all of these people feeling their true selves that make him emotional, and hearing the lyrics to the song just makes it so much more raw.
“How long can we be happy if happy ain’t meant for us?”
The first time Eddie Diaz hears the song is after a rough shift.
Firefighters and paramedics are supposed to save people. That’s literally in the job description but it hasn’t been like that all day. They’d responded to a multiple casualty event, and only three of the six victims made it to the hospital. Of the three victims who were DOA, two of them were children. One was a toddler and one was just a year older than Christopher — brother and sister.
He’s standing in Buck’s kitchen, a beer in hand. Chris is at Abuela’s, spending the night like he does when Eddie’s shift ends later in the evening. Buck had decided that neither one of them needed to be alone tonight, so they’d picked up Chinese food on the way home, and now he’s scrolling through his friend’s Spotify while Buck cleans up.
The one thing Eddie knows about Evan “Buck” Buckley is that he doesn’t change what he listens to very often. His Spotify favorites haven’t changed in the years that Eddie’s known him, so the fact there’s a new song at the top of the playlist makes him furrow his brow and question it.
Buck freezes as the music starts, low on the speaker. Eddie has to admit, the melody is nice but he can’t get over the title of Glitter & Crimson. Buck is humming along by then, moving to pull Eddie close to him and sway with him. It’s something they’ve done a million times in the seclusion of their homes, a little intimate moment together that would have anyone who saw them questioning if they were really just friends.
But the truth is, they both need this tonight. The weight of their rough shift seemingly falls off their shoulders as they sway to the music. The song is a little fast for them to be slow dancing to, but Buck always says you can slow dance to any song if you try hard enough, and right in that moment, Eddie is glad. He can hear Buck murmuring the words as they dance, making him sigh in content. This is their moment. Just them, together.
“No compromise and no second best. There’s no stopping now, this weight on my chest. I won’t settle down, I won’t settle for less.”
And if six months after that moment, Eddie tells a patient in the back of the ambulance on Chim’s day off that he first kissed his boyfriend while they slow danced to their song in his kitchen, then that is no one’s business but his.

Authors note: Unfortunately, I didn't know if you wanted Athena and the reader to possibly be together because you didn't describe it further, so I just went with the idea of the two being together. I hope it's okay ♥
ᕚ---ᕘ
You stood nervously in the middle of a secluded examination room, your expression focused as you quickly put on the disposable gloves and prepared yourself for the task at hand. You were assigned an aggressive patient, tormented by pain and under the possible influence of drugs. His gaze is wide open between the gathering of nurses who are trying to hold him down on the stretcher, his pupils dilated and his movements uncontrolled while gesticulating wildly. The man seemed out of control and full of anger, sending a shiver of fear down your spine.
Various utensils were scattered on the floor, and the medical ultrasound machine lay overturned on the floor and yet you approached the patient with calm determination but caution, trying not to be intimidated by his aggression. A tense atmosphere filled the room as you struggled to take the necessary medical measures.
Drawing up a syringe with your shaky hands and keeping it ready to calm the patient down, you knew you had to proceed with caution to avoid escalating the situation as the man uttered unintelligible profanities and tries to break away. In a state of delirious rage, he vehemently resisted the touch and in a sudden rush of aggression, he reached for you and hit you with a powerful punch in the stomach. "Go away! Leave me alone!"
You stumbled back, feeling the sharp pain in your side, but despite the shock and injury, you remained calm and focused. With practiced hands you continued to try to treat the patient, still holding the syringe in your fist, while at the same time he tried to protect himself. "Please calm down, Mr. Johnson. We just want to help you." Another push from him made you fall violently into one of the standing cabinets, the needle of the syringe piercing your thigh.
“Damn,” you groaned, looking down. Luckily the sedative had not come loose due to the impact and was still completely in the syringe, so you had nothing to worry about. However, the relentless beeping of the machines near you worried you.  With a short scream, you quickly pulled the needle from your leg and threw the used syringe into the sink before standing up and looking at your colleagues. "Get the police in here. They should put the guy in chains, it is too dangerous for us.“
One of the male nurses nodded at you and let go of the guy on the lounger. He quickly ran out of the room and let the other sisters fight the man with all their might. Without further ado, he came back with two officers and surprisingly, you looked into the face of your girlfriend and her long-time partner, Officer Rodriquez. „Doctor, how can we support you?“ she asked professionally with a smile on her lips, and you breathed a sigh of relief as you pointed at the young man. A small grin appeared on your face too at the sight of her. She was wearing her uniform, the taser holster already open just in case while gloves were up to her wrists to intervene safely whenever you needed her. "He is very aggressive. We have to give him an injection, but he fights back with all his might."
It was only when you pushed yourself up from your leaning position and hobbled along to the syringes to put on a new one that she noticed that a blood stain had formed on your thigh; showing through your blue pants. "You are hurt, are you okay?" There was concern in her voice that you could clearly hear. Both Athena and her partner cautiously approached Mr. Johnson, trying to calm him down while you prepared the injection of a sedative. However, Athena's gaze was focused on you, demanding an answer. "I am okay, nothing happened."
The police officer was not really convinced by your answer, but would deal with you later and care for you. Officer Rodriguez spoke soothingly to the man, diverting his attention as he helped the nurses hold him on the gurney while you cautiously approached him behind Athena. With the help of the two police officers, you finally managed to calm him down and give the injection. Slowly, Mr. Johnson relaxed, twitching briefly before his anger subsided and his thrashing became weaker until he finally fell into a more peaceful sleep.
Your people exhale in relief as you continue to keep an eye on the patient, watching his heartbeat slow down. "One of you must remain here with the nurses to provide them with protection should he wake up again," you stated as you freed yourself from the utensils you had been using and successfully threw your gloves into the trash can. Before you left the room, you addressed your employees. "He needs to be monitored around the clock. Call me as soon as anything changes in his condition. Give him fluids, a liter of saline to start with."
The door closed behind you and you walked towards a free room to treat your wound. However, before you had even reached your destination, an arm sneaked around your waist as a kiss was planted on your temple. "Hey, 'thena." You whispered, giggling and leaning against her side. Supportively, she helped you into another room where she ordered you to sit down while you told her what you needed to patch yourself up. "How many times have I told you that once you get an aggressive patient, you do not do anything until you call the cops into the room?"
“Often enough,” you admitted, placing a hand over your furrowed brow before standing up and gently brushing your pants down your thigh. "But the work must be done, even under these extremely difficult circumstances." Her head shook several times as she walked towards you and placed the things you needed on the cupboard. Athena took a seat in the chair in front of you and began cleaning the wound with disinfectant.
You clenched your teeth, let out a painful hiss, and squeezed your eyes shut as the cotton pad dipped in alcohol glided over your skin. "'thena, you know that I am actually the doctor, right?" you muttered under you breath and clawed into the foam with all your strength. "Babe, but you know I do not care, right?"

It’s About Damn Time
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley X Reader
It’ About damn time
A/N I hope you all like this and if you enjoy my work please comment like and reblog it means alot !!
Working at the 118 was a dream come true. You struggled a lot before on what you wanted to do with your life. You always had so many different jobs you didn’t have time to plant roots.
But when you became a paramedic you knew that all those roads led you to be here. That maybe the universe was guiding you to come here.
You loved everyone you worked with and they truly became your family. But there was one special person you loved more than the rest.
Evan Buck Buckley. The way his big smile and blue eyes always drew you in. You always felt so weak everytime he looked over at you. It wasn’t like you were hiding it either.
You think everyone but Buck knew how you felt about him. They all would make subtle jokes but it always flew over his head.
Everyone always encouraged you to talk to him. And tell him because he wasn’t going to come to the conclusion any time soon.
But you were always to scared to. There was always a part of you that wondered if he really knew how you felt but never said anything.
What if he was trying to find a way in order to protect your feelings. Your anxiety was all overt the place.
It was taking a toll on you with all the thoughts and feelings you had going on. What if the best thing was just to move on and start fresh you couldn’t help but wonder.
Right now the day was coming to a close and you were thankful because it was a long day and you were ready to go home.
You were gathering your stuff out of the locker room when suddenly the door swung open loudly.
“Hey Y/N how are you” Buck asked in a tone of voice you knew all too well.
“What do you want “ You asked not even looking at him
“Come on don’t be like that “ He said.
You looked up at him and he was giving you a puppy dog look. It was a look that kept pulling you in.
“What do you want Evan” You said
“There is a bar down the street it’s new their having so many cool specials and I wanted to know if you would go with me” He asked
“I don’t know it was a long day I was just gonna go home” You said
“Come on please i wanna spend some time with you” He said
Damn why did he always have to be so sweet he knew how to pull you in.
“Fine I will go for a little bit” You said
“Hell yeah let’s go” Buck said
He grabbed your bag and ran out of the firehouse. You meant him at his Jeep and the two of you climbed in.
The car ride down Buck talked about everything and anything. As soon as you tried to contribute to the conversation he would just skip topics.
In just a couple of minutes you made it down and it was pretty packed.
“You sure about this look how busy it is” You said
Even Buck looked like he was agreeing with you
“Hey there is this super cool restaurant down the road we can go to” You said
“Yeah come on” He said
He pulled away and the two of you headed else where. It was a tiny little burger and hotdog mom and pop place.
You absolutely loved it there. They knew you so much they even memorized your order.
Buck pulled up to the place and he looked hella confused at you.
“Foreal this place” He asked
“You haven’ even tried it and it’s amazing” You said literally running out of the car.
Buck followed behind you and you ran inside straight to the counter.
“Hey how you been the same” John the owner asked you
“Hell yeah Buck what do you want” You asked
“You know what give him the same as me he’ll love it” You said
“And what exactly is that” He asked
“A surprise” You said smiling
“Hey I’m sorry that bar didn’t work out “ You said
“Nah it’s okay i really wanted to just spend time with you” He said
“Forreal not Eddie or anything” You asked him
“Why do you seem so surprised and yeah I missed you, it seems like you been avoiding me” He asked
“No I haven’t” You said
“Yeah you have I don’t get why” Buck asked
“Really I” You started but was cut off by John bringing the food over
“2 hotdogs with everything on them and chilli and cheese sauce each” John said
“Thank you” You both said in unison
“Enjoy” he said
“Wait you really eat all this” Buck asked shocked
“Hell yeah it’s soo good” You said already shoving your face
Buck looked at you and laughed and he started eating to.
“You were right this food is soo good” Buck said in between bites
“Hell yeah” You said
The two of you then cheered Hotdogs together which made you both laugh.
You both just focused on eating after that.
After a little bit you both finished up and you felt like you were going to explode.
“That was insane” Buck said
“See i know a good time” You said
Buck laughed but then he looked at you with a more serious look
“What’s going on” Buck asked
“Nothing what do you mean” You asked
“Come on you know what I mean” Buck said
“Listen you been hanging out with Eddie and I’ve just been going home myself no big deal” You said
“Y/n come on i can tell it’s something more” He said
You kind of just clammed up and didn’t know really what to say. Buck grabbed your hand and gave it a squeeze.
“Hey come on now it’s me” Buck said
“It’s nothing really” You said
“Don’t do that” Buck said
“Listen okay just forget about please” You said.
“Come now will you stop playing these games and tell the boy already” John yelled.
Buck looked over at him with a confused look on his face.
“Fine what ever” You yelled
You sat up straight and gave him a serious look. He looked over at he also sat up straight like he was bracing for the news.
“I love you Evan like I’m in love with you I have been for a while but I didn’t wanna say anything because I was afraid you not might feel the same way” You said bracing yourself for you answer.
Buck was quiet for a moment and he didn’t say anything which got you worried. You heart was racing and your palms were sweaty and you thought for sure you were gonna die from embarrassment.
“I uh” He started off
Great here comes the rejection. The were friends I’m sorry that’s it.
“I love you to” Buck said
“Like I’m in love with you to” Buck said.
“Really are you sure” You asked
“Yeah I’m sure” Buck said smiling
He leaned in and kissed you and you kissed him back. Feeling an overwhelming sense of love and happiness.
The kiss broke and you both looked at each other and laughed a little bit.
“It’s about damn time” John yelled
“I’ve been feeding her damn hotdogs and hearing her sorrows for months” John yelled.
“There good hotdogs and it’s better than paying for therapy” You said
“I need a therapist because of it” John yelled.
“Wanna uh get out of here” Buck said.
“I would like that” You said.
“Hey before you guys go just think about me for the reception and the engagement party for the business i could use it” John said.
“Of course what else would you do” You said high fiving him
You both paid for you food. And walked out hand in hand.
You were relieved it was off your chest and you were happy you came out tonight Best damn night ever.

Safe and Sound
Prompts: “Is that my shirt?” “You mean our shirt?” + 'A hears that B got hurt and rushes over in a panic to see if they are okay' Requested by: Anon & @spuffyfan394
Pairing: Evan Buckley x GN!Reader
Warnings: Mention of violence, mild injury description, bruises, assault with a bat - nothing graphic
Words: 884 - short and sweet
Tumblr media
-
When Buck saw Athena walk into the fire station by herself, he immediately knew something was wrong. You two were planning to come in together, to have dinner with the crew.
Walking up to Athena and Bobby, Buck felt a nervous knot in his stomach. "Hey Athena, where's Y/n?"
Facing him full on, Athena took a breath. "Now don't go worrying your big head into a panic. But-"
"But?" His heart started pounding. Too late, the panic started.
"On a call today, Y/n got hurt. I dropped them off at the hospital, it didn't look too bad, but they might keep Y/n over night."
Buck's eyes flicked between Athena and Bobby as his heart started pounding. "What happened?"
She let out a sigh. "Some drunk bastard with a baseball bat."
"Baseball bat?!"
"Buck, calm down. Just relax." Bobby began as he put his hands on Buck's shoulders. "We have plenty of crew in the house today to cover if a call comes in, go ahead and head to the hospital okay?"
Buck nodded, unable to speak as he ran out of the station. The whole drive was spent in nervous silence as his fingers impatiently tapped the steering wheel.
Rushing into the hospital and up to the desk, he inquired after you with rushed words.
"Oh they checked out."
"Checked out?"
"Yes, about twenty minutes ago. There was no need for them to stay over night."
"Oh, good, okay. Uh, thank you." Hastening out of the hospital, he began to drive to your apartment.
Slipping in through the door, he looked around, seeing your discarded shoes and bag, but you no where in sight, he called out. "Y/n? You here?!"
Only a second of silence passed before a response came. "Bedroom!" He felt the knot in his stomach recede at the sound of your voice.
Slowly opening the door, he peaked in, seeing you lying in the bed. You smiled at him, but it faltered when you saw the worried and shocked look on his face.
"Don't worry, it looks worse than it is."
Buck quickened to the bed as he looked over your face. You had a small cut on your lip, and a large bruise on your cheek bone. "Athena said some guy attacked you with a bat?"
"Yeah, he only got one hit in with the bat, bruised some ribs, but it's alright."
Sitting on the edge of the bed, he pulled off the covers, and you allowed him to lift your shirt. You saw him wince as he looked over the developing bruise along your side. You set your hand on his arm. "It's alright, it doesn't hurt too much."
He gave you a look that told you he didn't believe you, seeing right through the lie. "Yeah well it will hurt more later on, and I don't care how tough you are. Maybe I should take the day off tomorrow"
You smiled but shook your head. "There's no need Buck, I'm alright, I promise."
He let out a sigh as he pulled your shirt back own, his fingers playing with the hem. Even if you said h didn't need too, he already decided to ask Bobby or the day off.
His brow furrowed before a small smile played on his lips. "Is this my shirt?" He asked tugging lightly on it.
You look down at the shirt and smiled. "You mean our shirt?"
He let out a soft chuckle. "Oh, it's ours now is it?"
"Anything you leave at my place automatically becomes a shared possession. Same as the stuff I left at yours. Feel free to wear my clothes any time."
He laughed. "I don't think I could look nearly as good in them, as you look in mine." Leaning forward he pressed a gentle kiss to your lips.
You smiled at him, bringing your hand to his face. "You left the firehouse as soon as Athena showed up alone didn't you?"
He smiled and nodded. You sighed dramatically, laying your head back. "And I was so hoping you'd bring me some food back."
Buck's eyes widened a bit as he began to stand. "Do you want some? I can go back and get some if you want."
You let out a laugh as you grabbed his arm, pulling him back down, wincing a bit from the motion. "No, I'm kidding. Just stay. That's what I want." He smiled at you, taking your hand in his. "And maybe some order out." You added on with a grin.
He chuckled. "Anything you want."
"In a while though. Come here." You pulled him towards you, pressing a kiss to his lips, before you moved over in the bed.
As he lied down next to you, you laid your head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around you and pressed a kiss to your head.
"Are you sure you are okay?" He asked softly.
You nodded your head. "Yes. I'm more than alright now that you are here." You nestled your head into his neck and closed your eyes.
Leaning his head on top of yours, he pulled you a little closer, careful to not hurt you. Closing his eyes, he breathed in your familiar scent, settling his nerves, reining himself that you were safe and sound in his arms.
xx End xx
Short and sweet, hope you liked it!

- staying with mom ✰ e. diaz
Tumblr media
Summary: the first time Christoper calls you mom
Genre: mostly fluff but smidge of angst/tension
warnings: none
Pairing: eddie diaz x fem!reader
word count: 1.3k
Notes: hi hi i tried to use american terms like mall and mom, but i am not american and i say mum, so if you notice any slip ups pls let me know and i will change it. I feel like it would be weird to picture chris saying mum in an american accent so i tried to only used mom   Also i have started watched the walking dead and am obsessed so pls feel free to request some fics for the walking dead (i’m halfway through s7)
When you and Eddie started dating, you waited quite a while before meeting Chris as you wanted to be sure in your relationship so as not to unsettle Chris. After about 8 months, you were pretty sure Eddie was it for you, and you eventually met Chris. Within 6 months of meeting Christopher you had pretty much moved in with the boys, and when the lease on your apartment was up for renewal Chris was the one who suggested you move in. That was over a year ago and since then the three of you had been living life as a happy little family.
Today, you had a day off from work but Eddie did not, so you had decided to take Chris out for the day. For weeks, Chris had been saying his shoes were starting to get tight so you had decided you would take him to buy some new shoes and buy him a couple extra treats. It wasn’t often you and Eddie weren’t both at work at the same time, even if you didn’t have the same shift, you often overlapped so Chris would spend time with Carla.
Eddie was at work before you even woke up, so you and Chris had a slow morning before heading to the mall. The car journey was filled with music and laughs, you loved spending time with Chris and you guys always had an amazing time.
Once you got to the mall you found yourself chasing Christoper, the shoe shop was all the way on the other side of the mall so you had decided to do fun shopping first. The first stop was at the ice cream parlor, and then the two of you made your way quickly over to the lego shop. You both bought a lego set, as you planned to watch a movie and build lego together in the afternoon. Once the pair of you had gone to all the shops you wanted to, you slowly walked back to the car, trying to agree on a movie to watch while you were building your legos.
You were nearly at the car, when the ground started to rumble. Small tremors weren;t uncommon living in LA, but this was not that. The slight rumble turned to full blown shaking and the lights in the parking garage started to come loose and smash to the floor. You quickly dropped your bags and grabbed Christopher and headed for the car, it might not have been the smartest idea but in your panic it seemed like the safest option if the garage was to crumble.
Somehow, you managed to get to the car in record time as you were opening the door, you noticed a piece of debris falling and you quickly pushed Chris into the car. Within seconds of you getting Chris safely into the car, the debris had come down, knocking you down in the process. You hit your head on the concrete and briefly lost consciousness, but you quickly came around to the sounds of Chris’s cries.
“I’m here Chris, I’m okay,” you mumbled as you tried to wriggle free. Although, your right leg was trapped under the piece of the parking garage that had knocked you to the floor.
Not long after you regained consciousness, sirens were all you could hear and it became nearly impossible to keep your eyes open, and you were soon consumed by the darkness.
“Cap, get Eddie over here!” You heard being yelled from close by. Squinting at the bright light you started to blink your eyes back open and were met with Buck’s face looking down at you.
“Chris, is Chris okay?” you forced out, your throat was hoarse and felt as though you had woken from a deep sleep. You could feel yourself being rolled onto a stretcher, presumably to move you to an ambulance, or at least a safer area.
“Chris was with you?” Buck panicked.
“I think I got him in the car,” you coughed, Check him first.”
A couple minutes later you heard a car door be forced open, and then Buck’s shouts.
“Chris!” Eddie’s shouts were so loud. He had arrived onto the scene and saw Buck carrying Chris over some rubble away from the car. You turned your head slowly and saw Eddie embrace his son tightly.
“Where’s Y/N?” Eddie suddenly asked. The panic in his voice was palpable.
“Over here,” You heard Buck’s voice get louder as he led Eddie to you. Eddie placed Chris down next to your stretcher and cradled your face.
“Baby, are you okay?” he questioned, whilst scanning your body for any obvious injuries.
“My leg got crushed but I’m fine. How is Chris? Is Chris okay?” you spoke so fast.
“I’m fine,” you heard Chris speak. You could have cried with relief upon hearing his voice. You had seen Eddie carry him, but hearing him speak and confirming he was okay made you so happy.
“Now, let get you taken to hospital, Buck can you take Chris to Athena and get her to call Carla please,” Eddie said as he began to wheel you out of the area. You saw Buck begin to usher Chris towards Athena who you could see a while away directing people.
“No.”
You and Eddie both stopped and looked at Chris who was avoiding Buck and walking towards the two of you.
“Chris, bud, y/n is okay. Your dad is just making sure she gets her leg checked out,” Buck tried to convince Chris.
“No,” Chris shook off Buck’s arms and carried on walking in your direction. Eddie sighed, letting go of your stretcher and turning to Chris before squatting down to his level while holding onto him.
“Chris, I need to take y/n to get checked out. Can you please go with Buck?” Eddie begged.
“No.” Chris was being stubborn.
“Chris please,” Eddie was starting to get desperate.
“I want to stay with mom.” Chris yelled.
You, Buck and Eddie all went still. Suddenly, the atmosphere had changed. Chris had never called you mom before. The three of you all looked at each other in shock unsure what to say or do next.
“Come here Chris,” you beckoned the boy, before helping him to sit on one side of the stretcher after you had collapsed the arms, “You can stay with me.”
Eddie was still looking at you in shock, starting to feel love swell in his chest. The idea that Chris saw you as a mother figure made him so happy.
“Chris, it looks like your dad is frozen,” you laughed whilst looping one of your arms around the boy. You had managed to get him in a place where he wasn’t near your leg which was causing excruciating pain.
This brought Eddie out of his shock and he walked over to the two of you.
“I love you both so much,” he breathed as he leant to kiss both of your foreheads, “Let’s go get mom all checked out.”
