Okay but what if the hostage thing puts Eddie even further on the edge only to be pushed over by the shot buried alive thing and that’s why they switched it.

warning this alleged information from a informal source on twitter:
apparently they had to reshoot several scenes from the halloween episode 5x06 which is why it is being pushed back a week.
(one of my twitter mutuals has a friend who works on set and this information came from them, but please keep in mind that this is to be taken with a grain of salt, this is not official information)

Bobby when he hired Eddie: He would be a perfect partner for Buck. He’s a veteran, an army medic. He’s serious, collected and wouldn’t let Buck jump into danger without thinking about the consequences.
Buck & Eddie on their first task together: *blow up the ambulance*
Bobby: I take all my words back. I think I made a mistake. Now I have two idiots to look after.

What if that bruise, Eddie tending to it, is the moment. THE moment.
Eddie is trying to tend to him and Buck is fussing because he’s fine, Eddie, seriously, but Eddie insists. Buck finally sits still long enough for Eddie to put an ice pack up to the already blossoming bruise. Buck sucks in a breath as the chill stings at first, and then begins to relieve the pain.
After a moment, Buck looks up, their eyes meet. They find they can’t look away. One of them tries to say something after a moment, but can’t find the words. Buck blushes and looks away after many long moments, and Eddie clears his throat slightly, yet still, silence reigns but for their slightly shaky breaths.
As Eddie moves the ice pack to check on the bruise, he can’t help his fingers lingering over Buck’s birth mark, his touch so gentle that it makes Buck shiver. They lock eyes again, and it’s then, that moment where it simply hits both of them.
The italicized oh.

i see your 'Buck and Eddie stuck in an elevator together during the blackout' and raise you a 'Eddie gets stuck in the elevator alone during a rescue and starts to freak out bc it reminds him of being trapped in the well and Buck is talking him down through the radio until he can reach the elevator and they're both sitting on opposite sides of the doors. bonus points if there's a shot of each of them leaning with their foreheads/palms against the doors while they talk each other through it' like

Okay but everyone looking startled and confused over Buck wanting to leave
Eddie, not an ounce of worry on his face, because he knows he babytrapped that man and he would follow him to the pits of Hell and stick to him like glue.

you know how after 5x05 we all questioned what Buck has been working on with Dr. Copeland?
Probably working through the trauma of watching his best friend get shot, getting splattered with his best friends blood, tasting eddie's blood on his lips, dragging said best friend to safety, keeping said best friend alive, in a doorless firetruck that was taking fire, until they got to the hospital, being targeted by a sniper, having his family being targeted by a sniper, his father figure shot too, thinking it would have been better if he was shot, taking actions that are considered suicidal.
anyway i think that's enough for a good few months of therapy.

i don't think we have talked enough about the fact that the 118 are going to be on a case where a guy is going to buried alive????? like despite the chaos that is going to be the 5x06/5x07 switch, we are like almost definitely getting a buried alive parallel to eddie begins 3x15. like between the emotions running high from the hostage scene (that might or might not be in the riot episode, idk im suspicious about that being part of the episode next week) or even just buddie having to relive that through the victims trauma. like the parallels are about to be strong and i am ecstatic.
don't get me wrong, i don't want to see the boys in pain but their story has been so much about them finding comfort in each other though their pain and being there for one another and i just can't help but think that this case is a little too perfect for a parallel considering that we are in a better place than ever for a buddie storyline to make sense.
andponce again, there is no coincidences in film and cinema, every case in 911 is picked out for a reason (whether it be entertainment or in this case, parallels) so the writers know that this will be compared to eddie begins no matter what they say it means.
