follow up clowning related to gg’s weibo post from here. a reminder first that i don’t think everything has to mean something and most of the time what they post is just plain and simple. we are clowns, so we will speculate but that doesn’t mean we have to find some candy for every content they post before we can enjoy & appreciate it. for example, we also think that the reason GG is doing these solar terms right now, while he is filming LoZ is in the synopsis of the drama, his character is the son of the “director of the Imperial Observatory of the Great Yong Kingdom” , that’s the english translation. but the key here in the original text is this word: 钦天监 [qīn tiān jiàn].

calculating solar terms. so that could be the connection he is hinting at that is somehow significant to the character he is playing. makes sense right?

this is not me washing anyone’s candy. i’m only laying out alternative explanations cause that’s how i do things. lol. the addition i have seen going around is kadian related and i’m not a kadian girlie so i was blocking it out when i first saw it. 😅😅😅

the post he made is his 1085th on weibo. oh what a good number, like a mashup between their birthdays. and the kadian that was used 191919. which means still still still. or you can concentrate on the repeated use of the number 999 ( In Chinese, nine is pronounced jiu, which also means “long lasting.” As the highest single digit, it represents the maximum level of mortal happiness, longevity, and good luck. A perfect ten is reserved for the gods. Case in point: in respect to the Heavens, the Forbidden City in Beijing has 9999.5 rooms, just short of a flawless 10,000. )

who is saying still too? forever with who? wang yibo. based on my first post about it, his use of that word 谷雨 that also came up in LTS lyrics.

another coincidence is that in the song itself, the word comes up in the 0:19 mark. 👀

commemorating the anniversary of when he followed yibo on weibo, 4/20/2018 so he posted on the eve of that day. maybe he is celebrating something else that only the two of them know and it’s not necessarily something as mundane as following a person on weibo. who knows. however, it’s on the bxg calendar so we are marking that down as a possible reason. 📝

i love this explanation tho, that goes back to that actual day years ago and what happened. it was the 5th day of filming CQL and they did not have scenes together, so why did he pay attention and followed him? he was filming the scene in the burial mounds, WWX was drunk and reminiscing about when he first met LWJ. WWX misses LWJ cause he is not there. Was XZ also missing WYB that time? to the point that he went to his weibo account and followed him?

it’s not a secret that XZ prefers it when WYB is there, not only to act with, but just there for him. plus this level of attachment on the 5th day of filming is not surprising when it comes to them.

finally, the imagery of the rain when it comes to them is one that holds some meaning. much like how we fixate on the stars and moon. photos below to show some of those relations to the rain. ☔️

999 Week returns for 2023!

What is 999 Week? Well, for a “week” in September, the Zero Escape fandom comes together to celebrate the first game in the series, 999! Want to participate? Simply create and upload any kind of fanwork (fanfiction, fanmixes, fanart, cosplay pics, etc.) for a character from 999 on a specific date! You don’t have to do all the characters, of course; any that you can is appreciated.

Each character gets a specific day in September, corresponding to their bracelet numbers! So they’d be as follows: Ace (9/1), Snake (9/2), Santa (9/3), Clover (9/4), Junpei (9/5), June (9/6), Seven (9/7), Lotus (9/8), and 9th Man (9/9).

September 10th is reserved for any extra characters (“Zero,” Nijisaki, Musashidou, Nona, Funyarinpa, Science Boy, etc.). We can’t leave these guys out! Also, here are some guidelines:

If you are late on any day, feel free to upload it the day(s) after!

🌹 — BACKGROUND !

LEE JANG-MI was born on july 15th, 1997 in busan, south korea to DAVID OKOYE and LEE CHUN JA. the former was a former olympic swimmer and united nations diplomat who hailed from one of the wealthiest families in nigeria. the latter was one of asia’s most well known singers, as well as an actress and a former beauty queen, and she also happened to be a SAMSUNG heiress. shortly after jang-mi was born, she and her parents moved to seoul in order to be closer to her maternal grandparents. the family would spend most of their time there, although they would briefly reside in london, as well.

despite the family’s picture perfect life, tragedy would strike a mere nine months following jang-mi’s birth. in may 1998, they would travel to italy to celebrate chun ja’s 31st birthday, which fell on the 25th. just four days later, however, both of jang-mi’s parents found themselves in a devastating car accident. unfortunately, the accident took both of their lives. chun ja was pronounced dead at the scene, while david fell into a coma, and later succumbed to his injuries a day later. jang-mi and her grandparents were quick to return to korea, and she was left in their care as her parents’ sudden deaths made international news.

up until jang-mi’s first birthday, she was raised by her grandparents and occasionally by her aunt, lee chaewon. however, her grandparents were already retired, and the grief of losing their eldest daughter and son-in-law made it hard for them to properly raise their granddaughter. chun ja’s youngest sister, bae eun-ji, already had a family of her own, and she was unsure if she could split her time amongst three children who were all under the age of five. meanwhile, although chaewon was unmarried, she was almost always working, and she didn’t want to leave jang-mi in the care of a nanny most of the time. and on top of that, her paternal grandparents resided in nigeria. as a result, jang-mi was regrettably put up for adoption. after a few months in a foster home, she was eventually adopted by a couple from southern california. she was given an english name, cecilia, and her middle names were taken from what her parents wanted to name her (chiara), her mother’s own english name (cynthia), and the meaning of her birth name (rose). and although the world knew of jang-mi’s existence, no one would know what became of her for the next seventeen years.

from then on, jang-mi was raised in california along with her older sister, who was also adopted. she grew up with a particular passion for music, and frequently listened to artists such as WHITNEY HOUSTON, MARIAH CAREY, DESTINY’S CHILD, AALIYAH, ASHANTI, AMERIE, ERYKAH BADU, THE SUPREMES, S.E.S, WONDER GIRLS, SNSD, KARA, 2NE1, MISS A, and LEE HYORI. at the age of fifteen, jang-mi began posting song covers and the occasional original song onto youtube. she began working at a nanette lepore boutique a year later, but shortly after she started her job, she was cast off the street by a representative of IMG MODELS, and was encouraged to enter an open casting call. although jang-mi failed to get a job, she managed to work her way into advertisements and editorials.

in 2013, she was encouraged to participate in that year’s MISS TEEN CALIFORNIA pageant. although initially skeptical, jang-mi would end up participating, and surprisingly, she won. the resulting exposure gave her acting and modeling opportunities like never before, and instead of participating in MISS TEEN USA, jang-mi used the attention to get her music career off the ground. she began starring in off-broadway productions, performing on the streets of los angeles, giving out her demo CDs to the people that would stop to watch her, posting her street performances to youtube, and writing as many songs as possible in her free time. meanwhile, her youtube channel was garnering a significant amount of traction. during the summer of 2014, her covers of PARAMORE’s “still into you” and of LEE HI’s “rose” would go viral. the former got her invited to one of the band’s concerts, while the latter caught the attention of YG ENTERTAINMENT. the label invited her to audition, and wanting to get closer to her home country through music, jang-mi accepted.

jang-mi sang ALICIA KEYS’ “no one” at the final round, and to her surprise, she passed auditions. she signed a 2-year contract with YG, and as a result, she had to quit her job, place her modeling career on hold, and move to south korea. she didn’t stop posting to her youtube channel, however, using it to record her progress as a trainee. jang-mi trained alongside the future members of BLACKPINK, and was actually meant to be one of the group’s members, renowned for her powerful vocals. while training, she had background vocals on the songs of other YG artists, wrote songs for them and what would become BLACKPINK’s discography (including the “WHISTLE” demo and “PLAYING WITH FIRE”), and had small roles in a few dramas. jang-mi was particularly hard working during her time as a trainee, and would even spend her days off in dance studios or at karaoke. however, a year into her trainee, she began having doubts, particularly about how she would be received in a country such as south korea. those doubts turned into stress, and it forced jang-mi to leave the company. returning home, she felt as if she had accomplished nothing.

jang-mi’s brief depressive state after leaving YG only pushed her to work harder, however. after returning to california, she didn’t return to her job, and instead focused most of her time on music and getting into university. in september, she was contacted by record label FUELED BY RAMEN, but she declined their contract offer, as it made her feel better to have control over the earliest aspects of her career. jang-mi formed the band ROSES ‘N THORNS with some of her high school friends, began uploading her original work to SOUNDCLOUD, and immediately started working on what would be her debut album.

in mid-october, jang-mi’s debut single “REWIND” would be released, and her album of the same name would drop at the beginning of november. going by the name LIA WILLIAMS, she spent her time touring across california in small venues and performing at local music festivals. in january 2016, however, a representative from INTERSCOPE RECORDS would attend one of jang-mi’s concerts. she was told about a potential record deal with the label, and just days later, she was singing her music in front of executives in INTERSCOPE’s headquarters. and instead of taking a month like she expected, jang-mi was signing a deal within a couple of hours, with JIMMY IOVINE reportedly saying that no one could leave until she was signed. and immediately afterwards, jang-mi got to work on her major label debut album, FRUITS OF MY LABOR, which would go on to catapult her into mainstream success.

fast forward to 2019, and wanting to begin a career as an idol in korea, jang-mi began looking for agencies to sign to. initially, SM ENTERTAINMENT, SOURCE MUSIC, and RBW looked to sign her, but she declined all of their offers. eventually, in june, she signed with YG—the same company that she trained under five years prior. two months later, her debut album was released, and its lead single topped charts across asia. jang-mi is now one of YG’s most successful soloists, and not only is she one of the best selling artists in korea, but she’s one of the highest selling artists in the WORLD, renowned for her performance skills, lyricism, and impressive vocal ability, garnering the title of “PRINCESS OF POP.”

Hed Kandi: Disco Kandi 2000 House / Garage House / Nu-Disco

Good God, what a terrific pair of discs here from the ever-consistent dance comp label Hed Kandi. With this first ever installment in their Disco Kandi series, the UK outfit supplies a steady stream of ephemeral house bangers from the late 90s and 2000, with a lot of the selections sounding contemporary, but also managing to channel an invigorating old-school disco spirit too. And many of these glitz-glammy, high-quality productions also collectively continue to progress from the sonic tradition that first started in famed New York DJ Larry Levan's Paradise Garage nightclub in the late 70s, where he nurtured a more vocally soulful and R&B-rooted house sound into the late 80s that would come to be known simply as 'garage.' And after the Paradise Garage's closure, that garage sound would find popularity at a club in New Jersey called Zanzibar too, where Tony Humphries would continue to spin it.

Now, despite a few of these tracks having somewhat remarkably high YouTube play counts, all of them were and still are definitely underground; that is, except for one. And this particular tune that I'm referring to wasn't just mainstream, but it really managed to lace the hell out of a lot of US contemporary hit radio stations back in the late 90s, even though it only ended up peaking at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100, overall. Basically, if you tuned into your local pop or more dance-oriented station on anything close to a regular basis back then, there's almost no way that you could've avoided one-off supertrio Stars on 54's cover of Gordon Lightfoot's 1970 soft folk-rock classic, "If You Could Read My Mind," which saw Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Ultra Naté teaming up to record a song for the soundtrack to the disco period flick, 54. Really classic radio gold right there that a lot of people probably haven't thought about in a long while.

And then just as you're finished reminiscing on whatever fond memories you might hold that are associated with that particular song, quite possibly the most impressive track of all within this two-disc set ends up directly following it: the Matthew Roberts and Richard Fite remix of Eclipse's "Makes Me Love You." This one has a big, sun-shining pool party vibe to it, as it combines lustrous disco strings, funkily plucked guitar, a fuzzy-thick corrugated bassline, and piano keys, all while employing a lovely filter technique, which is that really popular thing that house musicians got to doing around this time period, in which certain elements sound distant and submerged, and as they continuously loop, keep sounding closer and clearer, until they satisfyingly breach the surface and hit their glorious peak. And that's maybe my favorite type of house music in the whole world 😊.

So, a really enjoyable way to spend over two and a half hours here, with a hefty dose of  super sleek house tunes, a lot of which are on a nu-disco and garage tip. And it was collected by the always seemingly on point Hed Kandi label too, which has never steered me wrong before!

On the 1st of January, eleven years ago, Girls' Generation released their fourth Korean Full-Length album, "I GOT A BOY".

Musically, the album is characterized as combining elements from a wide range of genres including R&B, new wave, and EDM. This is the last studio album and Korean studio album with their founding member Jessica before her dismissal from the group in 2014 and subsequent departure from SM Entertainment in 2015.

“And the two teams moving to the final round are…”

Everybody makes drum roll sounds on the tables awaiting the announcement.

“Jeno and Jaemin!”

The two boys instantly chest bump and proceed to hype up the crowd that cheers for them.

“Versus Haechan and Y/N!”

Your team mate widens his eyes not believing he actually heard your names as you shake his shoulders telling him it’s true.

“Alright everyone, we’ll do a fifteen minute break and then we’ll kick off with the last round of the quiz!”

When Haechan’s friends suggested to go out to a game night at a bar they hang out on sometimes you were a bit worried that they’ll see your competitive side. It hasn’t been that long since you and him started dating and you’re still getting to know his friends, what will they think when they see you go above and beyond to win?

Divided in teams of two, along with other contestants, as soon as the game started your worries were forgotten and luckily you and Haechan make a great pair.

The first two to go were Jisung and Mark, the oldest one wanted the other one to answer but he got shy and they ended up not being fast enough to keep up with the other teams. Then it was Chenle and Renjun, always sure they were right ended up falling for a tricky question and spent the rest of the round blaming each other instead of answering the questions.

Round by round all the other teams got eliminated until all there was left was you and Haechan against Jeno and Jaemin.

“Haechan, you didn’t tell us she was this smart!” Mark congratulates you.

“I didn’t have to, if I’m dating someone of course they’re going to be smart.” Haechan coyly replies making you elbow his side in embarrassment.

“But for real, good luck on the last round, Jeno and Jaemin are quite the team to beat, it’s their brains function as one.” Chenle warns but you’re not concerned.

“I love a good challenge.” You wink as Haechan nods his head proudly at your side.

“And a good challenge you shall get.” Jaemin arrives with a smirk. “Me and Jeno have been winning this game pretty much every time we come here.”

“Guess it’s about time we change things.” You defy and the whole group gasps.

“Oh yeah?” Jeno raises his brows and you simply shrug your shoulders, not fazed. “I like her, Haechan. But let's see if you’re not all bark and no bite.”

“Hope you don’t mind coming back home with a mark then.” You smirk.

“A mark?” Jaemin’s confused.

“From the bitting…” Jeno explains grabbing the other’s shoulder to push him back to their table before the game re-starts. “Lets see what you got.”

“Don’t worry, we won’t hold back.” You say before giving them a little bark as you all laugh.

“Alright everyone, gather around for the grand quiz finale!”

Getting back on your seat you look at Haechan and see his widen eyes and hanging jaw.

“What?” You chuckle pushing is chin up so he closes his mouth.

“You're a little scary sometimes, you know that? Brilliant... but scary.” He simply says regarding your interaction with his friends.

“Don’t worry, I won’t really bite.” You reply but then get closer to him. “Unless you want me to.”

“I-” He can barely reply, feeling his cheeks warm up.

“Just focus ok?” You squeeze his hand and he slowly nods.

The last round of the quiz starts and both teams are going neck on neck getting every question right. The crowd is tensing up, people don’t know which team to cheer on because you’re all doing so well.

“And we’ve reached the final question! Both teams are tied so this will decide everything. The first team to get this right will be declared the winner! Are you ready?”

The whole bar cheers and you exchange looks with Jaemin and Jeno, a final nod with a smirk and you’re ready to go.

“Ok, here we go! A cashier at a butchers is 5 foot 8 inches tall, wears size six shoes, and is 29 years old. What does she weigh?”

You furrow your brows I thought. Glancing over to the other team they look at each other like they’re solving the world’s biggest equation. Turning to Haechan, he scratches the back of his head like this math is too hard for him. But in your head you’re thinking this can’t be a calculation question, it has to be easier that that. And then it hits you.

“I know!” Getting up you raise your arm grabbing everybody’s attention.

“Are you sure?” Haechan asks from behind you but you ignore it trusting your instinct.

“We got an answer! Y/N and Haechan, what say you?”

“Meat!” You say out loud with confidence while every one looks around like you are crazy.

“Meat! Alright. And the answer is…”

Everybody holds their breaths.

“Correct! She’s a butcher so she weighs meat! Congratulations Y/N and Haechan you are the winners of tonight! Please come by the bar to collect your award!”

“We won…” Haechan says incredulous as all his friends gather around congratulating you both.

“Well, well… Seems like the girl can bite!” Jeno praises you for the win. “Don’t let this one go Haechan, otherwise I might steal her for next time.”

“Not in a million years.” Haechan pulls you next to him by the waist, making you giggle. “You’re amazing baby.”

“I know.” You wink and then lower your voice so only he can hear you. “Do you want to stick around and celebrate or would you rather go back home and I’ll show you how I really bite?”

“Guys, me and Y/N gotta go!” Your boyfriend announces already grabbing your things to go. “It was fun though, we should do it again sometime.”

“Already? What about your award?” Jaemin asks.

“You can have it man, consolation prize!”

If Eda Found Hunter Instead (Part One Hundred and Fifty-Two)

The game is played, Amity gets tackled and Luz activates the Thorn Vault, sending Willow flying through the air.

Hunter: Woah...

Willow scores the winning goal.

Luz: You did it, Willow!

She runs over to hug Willow and Hunter slowly follows over.

Hunter: Yeah. That was...awesome.

Luz: We did it! We Won!

But then, the score changes from 9-10 to 999-10.

Luz: Wait, what?

They all look over to see Boscha holding a golden insect.

Willow: Oh, thorns...

Hunter: DANG IT!

Luz: Wh-what happened?

Willow: She caught the Rusty Smidge.

Luz: The what?

Boscha: Yeah, while you were celebrating your “victory,” I caught this guy. It means we automatically win. All magic sports are like this.

Luz: That just invalidates all our efforts! If catching that thing is so important, why do anything else? There’s no reason to watch any of the other players! That’s such a stupid rule!

Hunter: ...You good?

Luz: Yeah.

Hunter: Because it sounded a little personal there.

Luz: I’m good!

Boscha: Well, we beat them and proved our social dominance. All is right in the hierarchy.

She turns to leave, but Skara, Cat, and Amelia crowd around Willow.

Boscha: Wha--Hey!

Skara: Good game, Willow!

Amelia: I had so much fun playing you guys.

Willow: Oh, really?

Cat: Willow, you’re really good. Would you want to be on our team?

Willow looks at Boscha, who seems genuinely worried.

Hunter: Take it. It’ll put salt in the wound

Willow: Mm, thanks for the offer, but I think I’m done with grudgby for a while.

Hunter: Dang it! Wait, hang on. Are we still stuck as target practice?

Skara: Depends: Did you take an everlasting oath?

Hunter: ...Luz, did you take an everlasting oath?

Luz: Uh, no?

Hunter: Oh, sweet. So we have no obligations to follow through on our agreement.

Luz: There is the honor system.

Hunter: Ok, but ask yourself this: Would Boscha honor her part of the agreement?

Amelia: I can already tell you that she won’t.

Hunter: See? The taller, skinnier version of Amity confirms that we’re good.

Willow: Hey, speaking of, where is--

They then notice Amity in the field, clutching her leg.

Luz and Willow: Amity!

They rush over while Hunter slowly follows them.

Hunter, sarcastically: Oh, no. Poor Amity.

Amity: If I wasn’t hurt right now, I would totally kick your butt!

Willow: So you are hurt.

Amity: I mean, I think I hurt my leg, but I should be ok.

Luz: Are you sure? Because I can carry you if you’re really hurt.

Amity blushes.

Amity: Hehe--I’m fine! Who’s Amity?

Luz: Aaaaaaand scoop!

She scoops Amity up into her arms.

Birthday Naps

Notes: not many ideas came to mind for his birthday so I decided to incorporate his love for sleeping and my genuine interest about his homeland. Also there’s an airport here cause idk what twisted wonderland has :)

Normally, his birthday would be spent at NRC. The dorm’s lounge area would be decorated and everybody would be partying till the late afternoon.

This year, however, Leona requested that they all took the day off as he didn’t want another party this year. While it was appreciated, it was also a hassle to put things up only to take them down a few hours later, so he made it clear that he wanted no party this year.

This year, he’d spend his birthday with you and you alone… or so he thought.

While lounging in his room, a few days before his birthday, you had asked him about Afterglow Savanna (Sunset Savanna).

He told you many things, from how the temperature was to the views and even to the traditional clothing that is worn there.

To say you were intrigued was putting it lightly. To hear him talk about his home made you curious but all the more excited on when he’d take you there.

“Hearing all about your home has me all excited for when I actually get to visit! Oh my gosh, do you think I’d be able to wear any of the traditional clothing?? Or maybe get to see your home??” You began rambling as you fantasized about your trip to Afterglow Savanna.

Hearing you talk so happily about his home, warmed his heart. Truth be told, he wanted to take you home, but he also didn’t want his family to bother you both or overwhelm you, but seeing you so enthusiastic about traveling, now’s a better time then never.

“Hm. Do you wanna go home with me then?” He asked.

Immediately, your eyes lit up. Was he serious? Surely he wouldn’t pull your leg like this.

“Really?? Of course I do!” You cheered.

“Alright. This’ll be my birthday celebration then. Taking you home.” He announced, before flopping down on his bed.

A few days later, you guys would be rolling suitcases towards the airport entrance.

Leona had suggested a quicker trip via magic mirrors, but ultimately decided it’d be nicer to spend time with you before getting to Afterglow Savanna, thus airplane tickets were bought.

Once everything was in order, you both sat down in the lounge provided by the airport. Leona seemingly wanting to doze off already as this had been too early of a start to the day.

“If anyone ever told me that I’d be spending my birthday, waking up at 5 am to go to the airport, I’d think they were joking. It’s way too early.” He complained.

“Well it’s definitely better to be safe then sorry.” You laughed, looking over at the clock.

“We still have about 45 minutes before boarding time so we can just hang out here until then.” You said, smiling.

Leona let out a low huff before leaning against you, ready to doze off. But for whatever reason, his eyes didn’t shut.

“What’s the first thing you wanna do when we get there?” He asked, looking out the big windows.

“First thing? I’d definitely want to get food and then maybe go sight seeing?” You answered, to lost into planning to notice Leona’s sudden movements.

Leona’s hand grabbed yours, before he looked at you, his face a mere inch or two away.

Because of the sudden proximity, you could feel your face warm up just a bit. This only caused Leona to smirk.

“Why so red, Herbivore?” He asked, visibly smug.

“Leona, you’re a little…” “A little what?” “A little too close!” You yelped, quickly pushing him back a few inches. Leona began laughing, only causing you to get even more flustered.

Just then, the announcements came on.

“Flight to Afterglow Savanna, Gate 13D, is now boarding. Group number 1, please begin lining up.”

Leona then stood up, stretched, and yawned.

“Looks like that’s us, huh?” You asked, to which he nodded as he grabbed his bag.

Quickly standing up, you both made your way to the desk and waited to have your tickets checked. Once everything had looked good, you entered the gate door and began walking towards the plane.

Once there, you gave the plane a quick tap before entering. Finding your seats had been easier then expected as you found yourself already sat almost as soon as you entered.

“Hey, what was that tap for?” Leona asked, an eyebrow raised in question.

“Oh! It’s just a thing I do.” You answered, quickly looking out the window.

While everyone else was still coming onto the plane, Leona and you got comfortable.

“This flight is a lengthy one, huh?” You asked, observing your ticket.

“Mhm. Taking the mirror would have gotten us there in an instant, but I’d rather not be bombarded on my birthday and flying is the only way to delay that, so here we are.” He answered, yawning.

“Leona, the flight is like 8 hours… that’s gonna bring us well into the late afternoon maybe even evening!” You sighed, only now noticing the smug look on his face.

“Exactly.” He answered, before leaning comfortably on you.

And soon enough the flight would start, safety instructions given, and the lights off.

“8 hour flight, sounds the same as an 8 hour nap.” He claimed, getting comfortable in his seat.

You let out an audible sigh before you laughed a little.

“Okay, birthday boy. If a nap is what you want for your birthday, then have at it!” You exclaimed, reaching to hold his hand.

“Birthday naps. Maybe one of the best presents I’ve ever gotten.” He laughed, before quickly closing his eyes and dozing off.

“Oh Leona, that skill of yours can be so handy sometimes.” You sighed, slightly starting to lean against Leona.

“Happy birthday, Leona. I hope this year will be a ton more fun then the last.” You cheered, before feeling the exhaustion seep in.

Fortunately for you, Leona heard every word you said and he couldn’t stop the small smile that adorned his face while he slept.

999 Week returns for 2022!

What is 999 Week? Well, for a “week” in September, the Zero Escape fandom comes together to celebrate the first game in the series, 999! Want to participate? Simply create and upload any kind of fanwork (fanfiction, fanmixes, fanart, cosplay pics, etc.) for a character from 999 on a specific date! You don’t have to do all the characters, of course; any that you can is appreciated.

Each character gets a specific day in September, corresponding to their bracelet numbers! So they’d be as follows: Ace (9/1), Snake (9/2), Santa (9/3), Clover (9/4), Junpei (9/5), June (9/6), Seven (9/7), Lotus (9/8), and 9th Man (9/9).

September 10th is reserved for any extra characters (“Zero,” Nijisaki, Musashidou, Nona, Funyarinpa, Science Boy, etc.). We can’t leave these guys out! Also, here are some guidelines:

📚 Fire Extinguisher

A terrifying creature of feather and claw attacks him his first night in the realm.

He tries to fight back, of course.  He tries to weaponize the naginata he fell through with.  But without powers, it’s just a useless naginata, and without powers, he’s just a useless person.

He spends the night cowering in a small gap between rocks, flinching each time the creature shrieks inches from his hiding spot.  The snow burns him as it seeps through his clothes.  It’s nothing in comparison to the emptiness eating away at his soul.

The next morning, the creature gone, finally tired of prey it can’t catch, he holds his trembling, frozen hands in the light.  He allows himself one second of pity, one second of feeling sorry for himself.  And then he clenches his fists tight and gets to work.

He’s survived without his powers before.  He can survive again.  

He sets off in a random direction with no clear reason why, following the feeling in his gut that guides him.  The terrain is tough.  The sun’s light itself is freezing. It’s dipping low in the sky and an even more bitter chill is setting in when he raises his eyes and nearly cries in relief at the plume of smoke that curls like a reverse beacon in the orange-red sky.  

The village welcomes him with open arms.  They bundle him in blankets and feed him dried meat and sit him next to the fire that crackles merrily in the pit.  

It’s there that he comes to a realization.  

His fire is gone.  His fire was stolen by the very staff he now holds in his hands.  

But even though his fire no longer burns within, the fire in the pit calls to him with that same warmth and urgency he’s always felt close to his heart.  

So his fire is gone.  

That doesn’t mean he can’t bring it back.

The Neverrealm has always been cold, the wise woman tells them, ushering them into a tunnel of thickly-packed snow hidden in the shadow of the mountain.  But within the past year, it’s as if warmth itself has fled the realm.  

The passage she guides them through is pitch-dark.  They dog her footsteps by sound first, then by elemental light once she gives the okay, shivering violently, leaning into each other for the slightest bit of warmth.  The tunnel seems to go on forever.  It burrows deep beneath the layers of snow above, far away from the surface and prying eyes.  

And yet- at the end of the tunnel is warm, bobbing light.  They chase that light, exiting the mouth of the tunnel into a large room with walls of ice and rock and snow, smaller huts formed from packed snow populating the area, and a small group of people huddled in the center of everything, that warm glow flickering on their faces.

A fire burns in the middle of the hidden village.  

Cries of shock and relief fill the room.  The newcomers rush forward, desperate for the fire’s heat.  Bodies jostle for the closest position, and limbs end up wrapped around people they don’t belong to.  Soaked coats are peeled off and frozen fingers are exposed to the dancing flames. 

The wise woman follows them at a more leisurely pace.  Welcome to our village, she says, smiling gently at the newcomers.  This fire is the last one in the realm.  You are fortunate indeed to feel its warmth.

The last in the realm? they wonder. 

They don’t have to wonder long.

As they sit by the fire, the history of the realm unfolds slowly around them.  There’s a bad man, a child whispers, a bad man who steals all the warmth for himself.  

He’s blessed with strong magic, says a man, worn beyond what his years should imply.   They say he can see a person even through walls.  He can sense a candle flame from far off.  He can find a fire even in the most well-hidden of places.

That’s why this fire is here, says the wise woman solemnly.  Buried deep behind feet of snow to keep its warmth from being perceived.

Fire taker, they name him.  Fire destroyer.  Fire extinguisher.

A stranger just like them, clad all in red and wielding a staff that steals the very flame from the hearth.  

The newcomers exchange terrified looks.  

Kai, whispers the only girl, and the boy next to her wraps his arm around her shoulders as the walls shake and shake and snow tumbles down in flurries over their heads.

The first time he takes the fire of a village, there is guilt.  The villagers’ wails send shivers down his spine.  The desperation on their faces causes him to turn his head away and squeeze his eyes shut tight.  

He’s never been a cruel man.  Not like the one of his brothers who slings barbed words around like second nature; not like his sister, who draws satisfaction from one-upping her enemies.  He’s never been a cruel man, and in a different time, different place, the villagers’ cries would have been enough to give them their fire back.

But the staff is warm in his hand, and for the first time since entering this realm, he doesn’t feel empty inside.  

He opens his hand.  Sparks crack and pop and fly from his fingers.  The villagers look upon him with fear, but also with new, wary respect.  None of them are warriors.  He knew that the moment they welcomed him, a complete stranger with a strange weapon, warmly into their village.  

He was wrong before, when he thought he could go without his powers.  Without them, he’s useless.  These people are defenseless.  They need his protection.  He has to be able to fight.  

He has to have their fire.  

The first time he takes the fire of a village, there is guilt.  But the time after that, and after that, and after that- 

In the times after that, there is only relief.
