(Awwwe, I love that :D)  @itachi-uchiha-deserved-better
It had been rainign cats and dogs for the last 3 days, so Itachi and Kagami had been stuck with having to do something productive inside the house. Surely they could also train in the rain but Kagami would love to avoid getting the boy sick, even more so since Fugaku sent him to Kagami while he and Mikoto were gone. He promised the young Uchiha safety and comfort while he was with him, because he had noticed that Itachi’s behaviour often seemed a bit off for his age.
Behaviours that couldn’t just simply be explained with him geing a genius and too smart for his own good.. Those are things that don’t dampen down a child’s happiness like that. Itachi also had been rather confused by Kagami not being up at 4 in the morning to usher him outside for training... That was even more sign for him to just let him be... a child while he was here.
So when in the middle of the night Itachi came back into the living room because he felt uneasy, all Kagami did was offering him a smile and to sit down next to him. "Of course you can, Itachi. Is there something bothering you?" And before he could even answer, a lightning struck down close to the house, followed closely by an almost deafening thunder. He was surprised that Itachi had grabbed his hand so tightly, trembling lightly as he processed what had happened outside. He couldn't even tell how much that tugged at his heartstrings, so he freed his hand from the grip of Itachis fingers to wrap an arm around him, offering shelter to him by lightly pressing him against his side.
"Thunderstorms are pretty scary, hm? But don't worry, I am here and there won't be anything happening to you. If it makes you feel safer I can also get your Futon over here so you aren't alone while you sleep. How dows that sound?" Keeping his tone gentle, there was also something incredibly soothing to his voice. At least he hoped it would do so.
