The Order of Sand Sages:
No one knows the exact time the Order of the Sand Sages begun, but their time seems to have begun with the very start of Dorne itself. The Order of the Sand Sages, also known as the Sandhealers, stands as a beacon of compassion and healing in the arid lands of Dorne. Rooted in ancient traditions and guided by their unwavering commitment to non-violence, they have become revered across the region for their profound belief in the healing power of peace.
Spread far and wide across Dorne, the Order's presence is felt in bustling cities and remote villages alike. They hold firm to the belief that access to healing should be a right for all, not a privilege for the few. While they serve the common folk, it's not uncommon for certain noble houses to have dedicated healers, forging a unique bond between the healers and their patrons.
The Order of the Sand Sages is one of the few groups in Westeros that accepts both men and women as healers. This equality is fundamental to their belief that healing transcends gender. The wisest and eldest healers are both men and women
Upon joining the Order, each member solemnly swears an oath of non-violence, a sacred pledge to never harm another living being. Instead, they devote their lives to the relief of suffering, offering solace and care to those in need. New members of the Order must take the "Healer's Oath," which binds them to their duty of tending to the sick and wounded. This oath is recited under the light of the desert stars amongst the other healers, symbolizing the healer's connection to the land and commitment to one another.
Their mastery of herbcraft is unparalleled, possessing a deep understanding of the desert's flora and its medicinal properties. Their remedies are renowned for their efficacy, with some even surpassing the knowledge of maesters from distant lands.
Members of the sages travel across the desert, setting up temporary camps in various locations. They offer their services to some of the most remote settlements, building trust and mutual respect with the diverse communities of Dorne.
Through a peaceful trade network, they exchange their precious medicines for essential supplies and valuable information with intrepid desert traders. Crossing paths with a Sage is considered both an honor and a good omen, while harming one is viewed as the gravest of misfortunes, often met with severe consequences.
The healers have developed a form of silent communication through hand signals and coded gestures. This allows them to work efficiently in the field without the need for verbal communication, especially in situations where noise could attract danger.
The color within the pleats of the aprons worn by the members of the Order of the Sand Sages holds special significance, reflecting their hierarchy, roles, and accomplishments within the organization. As the sages grow in their ranking, they gain more and more colors within their aprons. Here are some of color ranking of aprons for the Sand Sages:
Sandstone Beige: This is the foundational color, worn by all members upon initiation into the Order. It symbolizes purity, humility, and the beginning of their journey towards healing. Sage Green: After completing a period of rigorous training and demonstrating exceptional proficiency in herbcraft, healers are awarded a sage green apron. This color represents growth, knowledge, and the mastery of the desert's flora. Royal Blue: Those who have shown exceptional leadership, wisdom, and have made significant contributions to the Order may be granted a royal blue apron. This signifies their elevated status within the organization and their dedication to guiding their fellow healers. Goldenrod Yellow: Reserved for healers who have excelled in creating rare and potent remedies, the goldenrod yellow apron is a mark of their expertise and innovation in herbcraft. It symbolizes the radiant impact they have on the healing community. Burgundy Red: Healers who have demonstrated extraordinary acts of compassion and selflessness, going above and beyond their duties, may receive a burgundy red apron. This color embodies the deep well of empathy and care they bring to their work. Iridescent Silver: The iridescent silver apron is a rare and prestigious honor, bestowed upon healers who have made groundbreaking discoveries in medicine, surpassing even the knowledge of renowned maesters. It represents their unparalleled contributions to the field of healing. Amethyst Purple: Reserved for the eldest and wisest members of the Order, the amethyst purple apron signifies a lifetime of dedication, learning, and leadership. These individuals are the guiding pillars of the Sand Sages, embodying the essence of their beliefs. Crimson and Gold: The highest honor that can be bestowed by the Order, the crimson and gold apron is reserved for The Sunlit Sages who are the Grand Masters or Grand Mistresses, the leaders of the Sand Sages. This regal combination of colors symbolizes their wisdom, authority, and the profound impact they have on the Order and the wider community.
These aprons serve as tangible symbols of the healers' achievements and contributions, creating a visual representation of their individual journeys within the Order of the Sand Sages.
During times of conflict, the Order maintains a steadfast policy of neutrality. Trusted by all factions, they offer aid without bias or judgment, ensuring their safety even in the midst of war. This unshakable commitment to healing and peace has made the Sand Sages an enduring force for good for all.
Ophelia within the Order of the Sages
When she was a young girl one of the Sages begun to live in Skyreach as a healer to her entire family. Being the guardians and protectors of the Prince's Pass it was important that all the family stayed healthy.
One day Ophelia ended up helping the Sage when he was bandaging the wound of a soldier. Something sparked within her and even as a little girl Ophelia knew being a healer was her calling in life. Her mentor has said he had never seen someone so young have such an understanding for the skills and compassion it takes to be a Sage. Surely in her previous life Ophelia must have been one of the Sunlit Sages
Barely a teenager she took the Healer's Vows with the complete support of her family behind her, all of them proud of the young girl's commitment to helping people across Dorne. While she completed a lot of her training within Skyreach, she was allowed the ability to travel with her mentor across Dorne to get hands-on experience
While she was still very young amongst the other Sages, she has always risen within the ranks. Already she has been given her Burgundy Red pleat in her apron, something very rare for a Sage her age.

headcannons for house uller and hellholt
Ullers Headcannons:
Lethal Inheritances:
The tradition of ruling through inheritance has traditionally been the accepted way of ruling within all of Westeros. But the Uller’s have had a more deady tradition than others. Traditionally the next ruiling lord could take over at any time if they manage to kill the previous ruiling lord. Sometimes it lead to deadly encounters within the family, or sometimes it involved children killing a sick or elerdy parent with their permission to help solidify their new spot as ruiling lord/lady. This tradition has seemed to have died down recently with the long rule of Lord Doran Uller. However he is aware that this tradition could come back at any moment.
Blood Oaths and Loyalty:
Swearing blood oaths to the Uller family is a common practice among the Hellholt inhabitants. Breaking such oaths is considered an unforgivable offense, punishable by death.
The Trial of the Scorching Sun:
As a rite of passage for young Uller family members who wish to rule one day. They must undergo the "Trial of the Scorching Sun." They are left alone in the desert for several days, armed only with a scimitar and a limited supply of water. The ones who return are considered worthy of carrying the family's legacy forward. Even those within Hellholt themselves practice this rite of passage to prove their prowess as a warrior.
Maester of Venom:
In the family's service is a reclusive maester known as the "Maester of Venom." His expertise lies in the study of poisons and their antidotes, which makes him very valued. However the most recent Maester of Venom has died and yet to be replaced.
The Veiled Dancers:
Among the Uller family's elite guard are the "Veiled Dancers," a group of highly skilled female warriors. They wear flowing veils that obscure their identities and strike fear into the hearts of their enemies. They are not only fierce combatants but also protectors of the Uller women.
Hellholt Headcannons:
The Festival of Fire:
Within the city of Hellholt, a unique festival called the "Festival of Fire" is held annually. During this event, the citizens showcase their combat skills, and the best fighters are invited to join the elite ranks of the some of the best soldiers within Hellholt. From there many of them grow to become personal guards of the Uller family.
The Brutal Military Training:
The soldiers recruited from Hellholt are subjected to grueling training in the harsh desert environment. They learn to use the natural elements to their advantage and are known for their ferocity in battle, earning them the nickname "Scorchblade Legion."
The Whispering Dunes:
There is a mystical location deep in the desert known as the "Whispering Dunes." It is said that those who venture there can hear haunting whispers in the wind, guiding them towards hidden truths or secrets, often leading to unexpected discoveries or dangers.
Sand Silk Trade:
Hellholt is renowned for producing a rare and exquisite fabric known as "Sand Silk." This fabric is woven from a special kind of desert plant that only grows in the harshest conditions. Sand Silk is not only beautiful but also highly durable, making it a sought-after commodity traded throughout the kingdom.
The Desert Guides:
Because Hellholt is located in the middle of the Dornish desert, the people that reside in the Uller’s regions have learned how to navigate the harsh desert. The Desert Guides have trained most of their lives to learn how to safely travel across the changing deserts. These people are highly sought after in Dorne for their skills in navigation. The highest trained Guide has mastered the practice of a unique form of travel known as "desert sailing." They employ specially crafted sand-skiffs that glide over the dunes, allowing them to traverse great distances quickly and efficiently.

T H E L A S T  R I T E;; westerling’s valyrian steel sword
Last Rite has been passed down for generations within the Westerling family. The Westerling lords have wielded the sword for the last 500 years as it is passed down from generation to generation.
The blade itself is engraved. Intricate decoration patterns have been carefully etched into the blade, along with small words in the old tongue; both are supposed to bring the user luck in battle. Like all the Valyrian blades it has a rippling pattern in the blade but the Last Rite is unique that has a faint shade of blue. It is unknown why this sword has that particular color to it but some believe it is because of the writings in the old tounge.
The blade has a wide, curved cross-guard, creating the ideal weight balance to allow for smooth and accurate swings with this blade. On each side of the blade is one of the many names of god in the old tongue are written. One side has the name "Al-Qawiyy", meaning the possessor of all strength, to remind the user of the power of the sword and the strength they must have to uphold their duty. On the other side is written is "Al-Muhaymin", meaning guardian. This is to remind the user that while they have the sword, they are the protector of their people and those who cannot defend themselves.
Theomore Westerling has been the owner of the blade since his father's unfortunate passing. It saw battle at the end of the Dance of Dragons and most recently in the battle of the Iron Islands. It is rare to see Lord Westerling without it at his hip. While not traditional Theo likes to keep the sword near him as he prays to help keep himself grounded and remind him of why he takes up the blade.

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

Don't get me wrong, I don't give two shits about the English Royal Family, but this PR crisis they're in right now is just wild. Every time you think they're done digging themselves deeper, they haul another bucket of shit up from the bottom of the well they're in.

Always very funny to go from tumblr culture (Harry Potter basically, like, anathemized) to coworkers or relatives just casually bringing it up with zero idea about why the franchise would even be controversial. Unironically one of the bigger bubbles I forget I'm in.

I say this with the utmost sincerity, but I hope you have the courage and space and freedom in the upcoming year to be the nasty little freak that you are. I hope you can find a place to realize that the things you think make you unlovable and disgusting are in fact very lovable and not disgusting in any way. I hope you find sincerity beyond your ability to even comprehend.

the thing is like. i get that it's scary and makes people who do desire to get pregnant uncomfortable when we talk about the brutality and violence of pregnancy and the damage that pregnancy can do to your body
but you deserve to give informed consent to that process.
the lies around pregnancy - that it's inherently safe, that it doesn't do you permanent damage, that it's only extremely rare for people to die of pregnancy complications, etc like
all of these are lies constructed so that more people will get pregnant w/o knowing all that
there needs to be more talk about the impact of miscarriages and how common they are, how different abortion processes are and how accessible they are
but also like. talking about how pregnancy fucks your body up should not be taboo
this is a process that permanently changes most people's bodies, and that's even if the pregnancy doesn't do them like. severe illness or injury
and i just think everybody should have a right to KNOW that
bc to live in a society that intentionally obscures and hides facts about a completely optional and dangerous process does so for a reason, and that reason is based in a very sinister ideology that does not value bodily autonomy or informed consent

ok i just got this thought out of nowhere but blog divers (people who scroll through a blog and reblog things that were posted YEARS AGO) are actually a super important part of the tumblr ecosystem
With people going inactive and deactivating, a lot of classic tumblr posts and also missed gems get lost because those connections get broken. Even on my own blog I forget about posts I made until I see someone in my activity reblog one of them- which then inspires me to reblog it myself because it was a good post and I want my new followers to see
do not feel bad about diving through someone's blog and reblogging shit from years ago, it keeps dashboards alive
(and if anyone has a problem with that, they can just block you or they can delete the root post ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, two things that have absolutely no effect on the grand scheme of our lives)
