Going back and looking at Jiu's lines pre 1.5
Tumblr media
I love the confidence they have. If you think about it, they held themself in high regard because of their title.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of Retuo/Azh's shtick has to do with Ley Lines. Whether it's taking powers from them to change elements, being 'The Bearer of the Weight and Memories of the Earth' or just reading memories in general. If Neuvi can mass bloodbend, it makes me wonder what Geo Sov could do at full power. From Jiu's lines, it seems like they had full dominion over the Ley Lines, which idk I guess would be a massive Self Buff.
Tumblr media
I've said it before in my previous combat overview hcs, but considering that Retuo was Eroded and missing their full power, Zhongli mentions having to fight tooth and nail to try and subdue them (I feel like there's no reason for Zhongli to embellish or lie here so we can assume this to be true). Even then, were it not for Retuo's will and ability to retake their sanity to allow themself to be sealed, it probably would have been nigh impossible. Morax/Rex Lapis at the time had both the Geo Sov's power and the gnosis but still struggled. So like, what kind of beast was Retuo at max power....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is to be noted that 'Jiu' is what remains of Retuo/Azhdaha's anger and resentment. As their benevolence and fond memories were fucked and blocked out by Erosion.
It's interesting (or just hyv lazy writing to find a different word) that both Jiu and Neuvi use the word 'usurper' to refer to the Archons.
Jiu🤝Neuvi
Though from where Jiu is now, they hold strong resentment for humans (unlike present Neuvi), forgetting the love they once held for them. Still, I love their pettiness at max energy of 'fuck y'all for moving on so easily'.
It makes me wonder what would have happened if Retuo accepted Morax's offer of his powers. I'm pretty sure Retuo talked him into only trying a little; but I wonder if he had full powers restored; would it have stopped Erosion. 'Erosion' has taken on different forms for different characters (Zhongli and Ei for example) and is said to be something that the Heavenly Principles cursed/inflicted them with. But Retuo is the first case that we know of that was 'documented' so to speak. Which then makes me wonder if they were the first first? If so, why? To make sure they don't fuck around and get their powers back?
Tumblr media
Also good to know that they all want/ed to destroy the Seven (Jiu and Apep the nations included but yk). Dragon solidarity fr fr.

Apostle of Flames
I want to discuss something super interesting. I might be a dumb dumb and delusional to see it, but here we are. But I have a trope that I love that's utterly delicious, which is why I am fascinated by the dynamic between Joshua and Jote. I can only write and describe it, but cults and things!!! Being raised by people who worship you!! Being raised alongside a disciple who has been with you since age 6??? Insanity!! I'm putting this under read more because it got long. Let me know what you think.
Joshua is the embodiment of what the Undying have been worshipping for eons. He has been dying for ages, and he still hasn't perished. They saw that in raising him from a coma instead of serving from the shadows. Imagine what that does to a cult? To see it up close.
He's godtouched. Eyes seeking beyond where land and sea meet the sky, so embraced for a yearning for holy salvation--to seek the answers for what has happened. His reality is different, more holy, more glorious despite being a dying man. He is untouchable until he isn't.
The Undying love him. On the subject of Jote--and on mine, whether it is one-sided or not, I like exploring this in the trope I can't remember the name for now. Essentially, Jote is an attendant and a disciple, yeah? But it is plain she loves him; it is something she was taught at the Undying's feet, but it grew into a beast in her heart. That love has teeth, savaging her. It is all she knows. He is more her than she is herself. He is him, nothing of her staining him. Identities blur upon her own temple.
Devotion, no matter how engulfing it is, it doesn't matter. Because Joshua is marching to his death. Even if he did love her back the same, even if he did love her with the same ardour and pain beyond affection of comradeship and friendship, I don't think it could ever compare to how much she adores and loves him.
It will never compare.
To the core, I'm trying to articulate: Jote will never be loved to the same depth that she loves him. And that alone is vicious and hideous. She will never compare to the promise of recovering the world from the brink of destruction. Joshua is divine transcendence, and he cannot be touched.
Jote is the divine sword, divine violence, in the eye of the capricious Undying. In their name--no, in the Phoenix, she is a revolution. Her revolution is in the liberation of her own heart. Yes, she was taught to love him, and her heart was devoured by cruelty in the abyss of nothingness. Why else would a child, Kihel, be a potential victim of her shielding of the Phoenix? In regards to my personal headcanons, it will be an exercise in valour to learn what is beyond holy murder and the lesson in how when you die, there is no coming back. Love is a revolt, and he will always damn her beyond his death. In the depths of her adoration, she will be haunted by his ghost.
I do think Jote is a weird canvas of lessons taught in sacrifice. Forsaking humanity, your own body, for who is dying. Flames are kind, flames are warm--and she is hollowed out by them. It is scripture upon her soul; she has long been desecrated by something beyond devotion. It is an exercise in having no heart to adore a messiah.

Have a super messy write-up of some of my more recent thoughts. @murroyilodel and I are always brainstorming to further flesh out and develop the nuances of our muses. Despite my publishing very little of it, things seem to grow and change every week. Be warned that ahead will include some things quite personal to mun. All of this is regarding my modern interpretation of Frollo.  A trigger warning for child abuse and substance abuse ahead.  I determined long ago that I wanted my modern interpretation of Frollo to experience rather severe child abuse. Initially, this was an uninformed choice, understanding little about how that can affect one’s behavior long term. But I began to do more and more research and came to the conclusion that this could contribute to his aggressive behavior and his more solitary lifestyle.  Years after that, I realized just how much I gleaned from my own personal struggles while writing for Claude. How much pain and distrust of others I was pulling from myself to write him. Unfortunately, I was one of those ignorant people who thought my punishment as a child never affected me. Only recently have I put together that my whole life began to change after my parents’ punishments became more severe. I remember distinctly that my dad told me they stopped using the belt on me when they figured out that humiliating me in front of family members or putting me in time out in a public space was far more effective. Over the course of these faded memories, I do remember how anxious and insecure I became. Projecting my own pain, insecurities, jealousy, anxiety and distrust through Frollo really helped me when I was younger to work on my emotional intelligence and try to be more confident. Even now, I still have these struggles, but at least I am not as much of an asshole anymore.  That being said, I’ve learned more about attachment styles. I believe that Frollo has a dismissive avoidant attachment style, especially when he was younger, but as he has aged, and with certain people he began to fall into fearful avoidant.  As the first one implies, they are more dismissive of others’ feelings. They were forced to become self-reliant. Have trust issues. A negative view of peoples’ intentions. They repress their needs and emotions. when they feel hurt or angry they withdraw entirely. Becoming too close with others makes them feel trapped. Being independent is the most important thing. <-- this is all disney Frollo btw and with Frollo’s very intimate relationships, he leans toward fearful with some anxious tendencies. He is often afraid if he gets too close, they will leave. If he makes too many mistakes or disappoints them, they will leave. disappointing his family at all brings him an overwhelming amount of shame, embarrassment, and self-loathing. He will withdraw when feeling rejected or overwhelmed. There will be a time with Esmeralda where he flees for months, then upon his return, potentially suggest they break up in a fit because he thinks she wants to break up anyway. He works very hard to avoid intimate conversations. The few times his loved ones have serious talks with him, he shuts down completely. Feels like it is the end of the world cuz he’s not perfect.  Besides Lucy and the Judges, Claude managed to screw up every close relationship he has had, and fully believes it is just a matter of time before people grow apart/abandon him. IF my Claude were not a virgin, my Claude would most likely be a compulsive sex-addict. The dysregulation of emotion, the lack of respect for others’ feelings, the impulsive tendencies when he’s feeling depressed, turning to alcohol abuse and pill abuse etc, all lead me to believe there would be no stopping him. The lack of real intimacy and the fear of real intimacy, yet the craving of intimacy would lead to the cycle of fucking anything he could. Which would also lead to more alienation, shame, and believing he is unlovable. Meanwhile his brother Jehan is dismissive avoidant as well, except for when it comes to Claude. Claude is the only person Jehan feels even more anxious avoidant than fearful avoidant because of Claude’s neglect. For the most part, Claude is confident in himself, his work, his worth. However, over time he is made aware of how different he is. As an INTJ, my modern Frollo tends to pride himself on his independence and logic. Although he can be charming and witty if he wishes, there is little, to no emotion in his day to day. Everyone is laughing and he can’t laugh with them. It’s not always about being stuck up or uncomfortable, he just can’t feel the same way as them. He cannot partake. These doubts also extend to his personal relationships. Claude knows he isn’t fun, or the life of the party and doesn’t think he could contribute or relate to these kinds of social gatherings. Claude dated a lot in his 30′s and was confident and uncouth, but no one was able to catch his interest.  His status as a confirmed bachelor, his brilliance, and his inability to relate to those around him have convinced him that he is an oddity that no one understands, particularly in his 40′s.  By the time Delice comes in, Claude wants to lose his virginity. He finds her charming, smart, engaging, and beautiful. He likes that she is a snob like him. She makes him laugh. She knows how to tease him and talk to him and repartee. Despite not wanting a woman to fuck him for status, Delice was the one girl who made him think it would be worth it. She wanted him and she wanted to marry him. She was the solution to his problems. Companionship, sex, and most importantly, no intimacy. That’s right. Frollo got stars in his eyes because he knew the nature of their relationship would not be intimate. There would be no love. It would be like an arrangement. It would be business. It would have mystery. No hard conversations, no way to get hurt. (except he doesn’t think at that time how she could hurt him. Which essentially is just her never wanting to sex him ever again, being passive aggressive, condescending, humiliating him, and cheating on him. but anyway) However, Lucy and the judges are very confused. Delice is a horrible person and Lucy eventually puts an end to their flirting period. Claude is super humiliated and upset that he didn’t make his own mistakes. He wanted that fuck up for himself and he resents Lucy for it for around 6 months.  This event made him snap at Lucy for wanting him to go on yet another date. Frollo’s tired of new beginnings, he’s tired of trying. After they don’t let him fool around with Delice, he is convinced he won’t like another girl. He’s upset and reluctantly accepts that he will never experience a partner.  No one in the family understands why Claude would even look at her. They’ve introduced him to plenty of great women, and he picks a snobby bitch who would divorce him for his money. Having no idea the reasons behind Frollo’s feelings, they often all still worry about Delice or tease him about Delice, which causes Frollo to become very upset, but he hides it well. They think it is a joke, but Frollo feels overwhelmed and humiliated every time.  By the time Esmeralda arrives, Frollo is more cynical, jaded, and sexually frustrated than he has ever been. Having a superiority complex over women already, he thinks very lowly of her, which bites him, since Esmeralda has managed to woo everyone in his close circle of friends. Yeh, so Frollo’s lust and anger are out of control for about 6 months until he realizes he’s in love with her. Completely in love. Which makes him even more depressed and spiral even more.  ~End

Lestat buys Louis very fancy leather bound books and gets upset that Louis doesn't read them, Louis puts them on display because "they're not for reading, Lestat, that will ruin the binding" and Lestat is like ITS A BOOK IS IT NOT?
LMFAO i can hear their voices so clearly, this is definitely one the many  quarrels that makes a recurring appearance at Rue Royale.
(also what an apt metaphor for how the two of them approach vampirism— Lestat sees it as something to be experienced, even if said experience ruins the beauty, whereas Louis sees it as something to be admired and so then he never experiences the joy that is the singular purpose of the book, to be read, because he is too precious about preserving the outwards aesthetic).

The motivation behind building Cyberfei
I've been writing For Ever, and Cyberfei is my most recent baby. It was conjured from a particularly vivid dream I had about the city of London as I know it, only it was overrun by nature and trains, which took me through quarantine, and out to a village populated entirely by goths. It was rudimentary and nonsensical but the idea bugged me ever since, so here I am!   I have a passion for big, sprawling worlds and worldbuilding, and I love the communities that grow around them, so my motivation for Cyberfei is just that -- to create a community of people just as passionate about worldbuilding and fantasy as I am!   -Overseer Khasta
The goal of the project
Eventually I hope this place is big and fleshed out enough that people can start using the world for their own stories, TTRPG sessions, novels, etc!
Cyberfei's Unique Selling point
The main thing that makes the Cyberfei world special is how expansive it is! There's potential for all kinds of writing styles and genres within the world, from Cyberpunk/sci-fi inclined to the fantasy end of things, to the more optimistic Solarpunk -- there's so much to do and build that anyone can find something to work on!
Genre
The primary genre of Cyberfei is Urban Fantasy, with Solarpunk and Cyberpunk elements. Due to the wide and diverse nature of the world, some areas lean more heavily into one aspect of the genres than others and thus the actual genre of the world is hard to pin down to an exact element.
Reader Experience
The primary feeling of the Cyberfei world is wonder with a sprinkle of hope. Readers, players, etc. will be in awe at the technology, the magic, the diversity -- and a little afraid of the unknown shadows that lie above and below; though always knowing there is light on the horizon.
Reader Tone
Cyberfei is always described as a Eutopia. The brightness of utopia, with hope and nature and beauty, offset by the darkness and conflict of dystopia -- a realistic, balanced world where nothing is perfect but everything is beautiful.

Mairwen: Pre-Canon [Fandom]
Mairwen’s next incarnation was as a Dragon Age Inquisition companion OC. She still did not have the name ‘Mairwen’, at the time having the name ‘Marie Pythia’. Her backstory is much the same as her Dragon Age verse originally is, except she had lost many of her memories. She had been in a circle tower and made tranquil before escaping with her friends from the tower who had known her before her change.
At some point they were able to reverse her tranquility, but it made her forget her time before that. And since her friends were killed shortly after this, she was once again alone with only her horse. She joined the Inquisition as an herbalist, hiding her magic and acting as a rogue before she discovered her past. [Her companion quest.] I still have many of the drabbles and short fan fics from this verse where she romanced either Cullen, Josephine and/or Krem.
It was this version of her that influenced her RP incarnation the most, though there were changes...

A big thanks to @emcads for her research post on Esme’s feather, it  actually solved a question that had been in the back of my mind so ty <3 we love research and details
So in the book Sharpe’s Battle (different from the film), we learn a very interesting tidbit of information on Teresa:
"She will be proud of you, Englishman," El Castrador said. "She will?" Sharpe asked. "Why?" "Because El Lobo has placed a price on your head," El Castrador said. "Did you not know?" "I didn't know." "One hundred dollars," the partisan said slowly, with relish, as though he was tempted by the price himself. "A pittance," Sharpe said disparagingly. Twenty-five pounds might be a small fortune to most people, a good year's pay indeed for most working folk, but still Sharpe reckoned his life was worth more than twenty-five pounds. "The reward on Teresa's head is two hundred dollars," he said resentfully.
Film Sharpe would NEVER be resentful about Teresa’s bounty he’d go “Yeah she deserves it she kicks ass” but anyways Sharpe helpfully tells us the conversion rate. 100 spanish real, or dollars, is 25 pounds, so that would make Teresa’s bounty worth 50 pounds. We know that Battle is set during May 1811. Using the currency converter, this is what you could buy with Teresa’s bounty in 1810 (the closest year I could convert to):
Tumblr media
That is quite a bit of money- almost an entire year’s wages. However converting for 2022 with the bank of england, her worth adjusted for inflation is this:
Tumblr media
Adjusting a bit more, that purchasing power would net her either: 6 horses, 13 cows, 76 stones of wool, 12 quarters of wheat, or 460 days of labor, and in USD in 2022 converts to $3935.19. This bitch is worth almost $4,000!!
In summer 1813, Wellington took a majority of the partisans who worked on his behalf and absorbed them into the 4th Army, “the last three of its eight divisions being led by the guerilla leaders..most of the leading chiefs of guerrilla bands were given field rank...” 1. I’ve personally headcanoned that when Teresa lives, she and her men would be taken into the fold and she would be given the rank of exploring officer, as a major. I think this would significantly increase the rank of her bounty, but I haven’t found any sources yet as to what such a bounty would be for an exploring officer in the british army that the french would pay so?? I’m sure I could make up a number (perhaps her bounty doubles in price...or triples depending on who she pisses off :) )
anyways thank you for coming to my TEDtalk, Teresa Moreno is an expensive ass bitch!!

SILENT HILL 2 ANALYSIS ; LOSS AND REDEMPTION
PART ( 1 / ? )
; GUILT.
James is core to Pyramid Head’s existence. He embodies all of his guilt for what he did to Mary, his internalized self loathing, the desires for intimacy that couldn’t be met. And for this Pyramid Head aimed to destroy the twisted apparitions of what he wanted: ( I.E. the Mannequins, Maria ) Through his aggression towards these creatures he was trying to get him to face his own guilt, face the truth that he was hiding from and thereby find redemption. However, when most think of redemption, it’s not usually the kind that was offered by the town, in fact it’s debatable that none of the individuals in Silent Hill 2 ever found redemption. James being the closest to it, and in a manner of speaking, he does in his own way.
; THE WRITING ON THE WALL ( LITERALLY ) FROM HIS SUBCONSCIOUS.
Tumblr media
If you really want to see Mary you should just DIE. But you might be heading to a different place than Mary, James.
; SUICIDE & RELIGON.
Throughout the course of Silent Hill 2 there are plenty of instances of religious themes and undertones alluding to the three focal characters ( James, Angela & Eddie ) in that they all want to die even if not all three of them have accepted that harsh reality right away. And the dark forces at Silent Hill seem to consider suicide something to be punished rather than those feelings as something that needs to be healed which ties into my point regarding religious implications being present. With this established, we now know what stance Silent Hill takes when it comes to ‘helping’ people.
; “ If you did something bad, then why don’t you just say sorry? “
It can be observed that one thing all three characters have in common is that they’re all running away from the truth. In fact, the game present a moral dilemma to the player when James finds and picks one of the notes in which a doctor confesses that they’re not sure if the best way to help his patients who have disconnected themselves from reality as a way of coping with their trauma is by forcing them back into it and this dilemma crosses over into the unfolding events.
James is running away from what he did to Mary. His mind has rewritten events in a way that’s easier to live with. But underneath all the layers of fabricated lies, his subconscious knows the truth. His subconscious creates Pyramid Head to punish him for the selfishness he knew he’d felt in his heart when he’d killed Mary. It can also be argued that both Maria and Laura are both illusions the town has manifested. Maria being a more tender and loving version of his wife until James rejects this version and the illusion distorts into something beyond recognition. Laura is a child, meant to represent innocence and perhaps James and Mary’s desire to have a family before Mary fell ill. It is only when James accepts the truth that Silent Hill lifts its veil and allows him to leave. It isn’t what you typically think of when you think of redemption arcs, but Silent Hill isn’t interested in redeeming its occupants.
Angela is running away from her abusive household and life of despair. After years of enduring sexual abuse from her father, she snaps and kills him before running away when the police begin searching. ( It’s also implied in a report James finds that her brother was also sexually deviant with her. ) The only thing that’s left for her to hold onto is finding her mother, whom she thinks she’ll find in Silent Hill for some reason. Except this not the truth, as the town forces her to remember that her mother was complicit in her torment, turning a blind eye to the pain she’d been put through for years. When this painful realization finally sets in, Angela decides that she can no longer live with the truth and succumbs to her suicidal urges despite James imploring her not to.
Eddie is quite literally running away from a crime. Bullied all his life for his unhealthy lifestyle, Eddie one day snaps and kills one of his bullies. Now this might’ve been easier to sympathize with as it is common knowledge that people can temporarily go insane when pushed to the edge, but he takes it a step further and murders the bully’s dog, even later claiming that he enjoyed it. After this, Eddie flees and winds up in Silent Hill. Each encounter James has with Eddie makes him seem more unhinged than the last. Ultimately, however, Eddie succumbs to his murderous rage and vows to kill anyone who so much as gives him the side-eye. Eventually he lashes out at James and James is forced to put Eddie down, akin to putting down a rabid dog.

Anonymous -  Hey Hecate, have you ever heard of the musical, “Hadestown?”
Tumblr media
“Heard of it? Sweetie, Underworld Corp. invested in it! Through one of our many mortal realm shell companies, of course. Lord Hades and Lady Persephone have always been patrons of the arts throughout the millennia and they were more than happy to give towards such a noble endeavor.”
Tumblr media
“And it’s always rather interesting and fun to see the new angles and spins mortals will give on our various stories and scandals. We’ve even begun investing in this new animated series based on some webcomic adaptation of their story by some New Zealand gal, Rachel something or other.”

“Heard it’s pretty good, might have to give it a read when I’ve got downtime. I heard she did wonders with my character~”

There are two quotes that effectively sum up the dynamic of Jote and Joshua regardless of the context, on her end.
Franz Kafka's "I love you enough to rid myself of anything that might trouble you. I will become another person" and Emily Bronte's “he’s more myself than i am."
It curls around her lack of identity. This is what happens when you take a girl, and tell her she must worship this one boy, who's dying. Everything in her is not made of her own wants but the desires that the Undying effectively impressed upon her. She's been told she must be his medic and weapon, all at the same time. There is no beginning to who she is. That was effectively destined to be the case. To be an Undying is to be consumed in fervent adoration for the cause, worship. He is her beginning and end. And that's fascinating because she probably doesn't even remember the time before him.
The depths of her feelings, the adoration, borderlines codependency and disdainful, utterly wicked sacrifice. She's been told she must die for him from the beginning.
It's 3 a.m., I can't articulate and I have thoughts. Do not come for me if this isn't well written. I will do something more concrete later. BUT YES--those quotes. But the real character development is when she gets her own name, which isn't just gifted to her within the Order or when she learns what she loves. It's just all so unintentionally delicious!

I was doing a little research on willow trees for my thread with L, and I find it very fitting that they grow along the banks of Lake Evendim. Annumínas was built along the southern banks of the lake, the City of the Kings, the jewel of the North; the High-kings used to rule from there, and the land was beautiful and prosperous.
And it makes sense that its willow trees that grow there. Not only naturally, but symbolically. Athelas is known to the Dúnedain as a healing plant, and even more so that ‘the hands of the king are that of a healer, and so the rightful king shall be known’ proven with athelas. And the bark of willow trees are known to have healing properties, often in the form of fever and pain relief. And some even have a minty or sweet, calming smell. So for it to grow beside the City of Kings...I just think that’s very fitting. And also they’re very pretty too of course :)

Mairwen: Dragon Age
While still being considered a main verse, I haven’t RPd in it as often, though I’d love to get back into it again. There are only minor changes to this verse.
Mairwen was born in a noble family in the Free Marches. When her magic started manifesting, it came out the she was the child of her mother’s affair with an elvhen servant. When the templars came to take her, she was able to escape due to some Antivan Crows that attacked the templars and killed them. They let her escape, revealing that they had been sent by her mother and she would not be able to go back home. Shortly after, she was found by a group of slavers who wanted to take her and her magic was first released in a violent way, lightning killing them in one large blast.
She has remained on the run since, starting as a child of 13 desperate to live and avoid being sent to the circle tower, terrified of becoming tranquil due to the violent nature of her escape. She learns to hide her magic, learning how to wield daggers instead, forcing herself to only channel her magic through her blades. She finds herself getting most comfortable in Rivian, where mages are more respected by the community and she is able to receive tattoos that help both suppress and channel her magic.. It is not until after the mage rebellion and the death of her lover and the destruction of the Dairsmuid circle that she begins to want to do something about the state of things.
When the Herald of Andraste appears and the Inquisition begins to be something more important in the world than just a conflict between mages and templars, she seeks to join the Inquisition and see what it holds for the future. She hides her nature as a mage behind her daggers, with only hints of the truth slipping through to those who know to look for it.
She is unique among those that are elf-blooded as she has looked more elvhen as she aged: with slightly larger eyes and lightly pointed ear tips.
Changes: Very few changes to the last time I updated her verse. Since she hasn’t been as active in this verse, it won’t affect any interactions, but unless there is a verse-specific, in depth relationship, these interactions will be restarted. [Again, mostly because I was not super active in it before my hiatus.]
