Swamp Rabbits breed during the warmer, wetter months (typically between February and August, although in parts of their range that remain warm and humid in all seasons they may mate year round) and often produce multiple litters (each consisting of 1-6 young, known as kittens) in a single year. Swamp Rabbit kittens are blind and unable to walk at birth, and are raised by their mother in a small burrow lined with fur and grass as they rapidly develop: within just 15 days they are developed enough to live on their own, and at just 7-10 months old they will be fully grown and mature enough to raise kittens of their own. In addition to natural predators such as Bobcats, Coyotes, Grey Foxes, American Alligators and a variety of snakes and birds-of-prey, the Swamp Rabbit is frequently hunted for sport, meat and fur by humans, and it is feared that unsustainable hunting (combined with other factors such as increasingly unpredictable weather patterns in their swampy habitats due to climate change) is causing the population of this species to decline. When threatened and unable to evade or hide from predators on land, Swamp Rabbits will dive into nearby water and attempt to conceal themselves by floating motionless among dense vegetation.

also because of all this attention, he’s one of those players that barely show up to practice. he’ll really only show up a couple times a month, and it’s an even rarer sight if you see him at morning practices, the ones that occur when the sun is just peaking over the trees and tall buildings on campus and the sky is rich, navy blue hue. it’s not even because he’s busy with other things like school or a job, he just doesn’t show up because he ‘doesn’t feel like it’. coach erwin smith verbally scolds him for his lack of team spirit and collaboration, but coach levi ackerman simply just makes him run and do suicides until he nearly passes out from exhaustion.

eren still does what he pleases though, and somehow maintains his position of the team’s quarterback. as many absences as he has, he can still keep up and is knowledgeable of team plays and strategies.

definitely the one to play jokes and pranks on the rest of the team alongside connie. more on that soon

back to what i was saying about him being the local manwhore though (as cliche as it is, it fits this version of him), a lot of women and even some men want a piece of mr. yeager and he thoughtlessly entertains any flirtatious encounters he may come across. lowkey he’s kinda superficial, and a liittle shallow, but always get what he wants. if he does end up getting with someone for the long term, the lucky girl wouldn’t fall for his beguiling smiles so easy; they’d humble him, making him a better person and that would make him fall deeply in love with them.

in the pic jean looks like he was attending a conference of some sort. therefore, i like to believe he never liked going to those things, and his cute lil thick girlfriend me as well as his manager forces him to attend and participate. i hc that he doesn’t really like being in front of flashing cameras and reporters all that much (camera shy <3) . he’d rather have scouts come to his games and hunt him down for questions afterwards.

jean gives me wide receiver vibes idkk. i think he probably wanted to be quarterback but he had to compete with eren for that spot, and eren beat him to it. over time though he’s grown to love playing the position 

definitely has his own little harem of girls that would drop their panties for him, but he’s so incredibly loyal to that pretty girl he has laying in his bed back at his dorm or his apartment, so he politely declines or weave around their advances. 

he lives for the massages his gf gives when he goes home after a long day of practice & work and/or school. the way her hands work into the tense and stiff muscles on his back or shoulders either leave him incredibly aroused or incredibly sleepy

i feel like he’s one of the more... serious ones, like he follows plays strictly by the book, shows up to every practice on time (maybe even stays late if he has extra energy), the whole 9 yards.

wants to go pro, and he does eventually

if one of those programs should happen where high school football teams, or a group of kids from a rec center shadow his team for a whole day, i feel like he’d be very involved with the younger kids. he’s really eager to teach them all the skills he’s picked up over the years, run a couple plays and give them tips to succeed if they wanna get into the sport or get drafted in the nfl.

i hc that he would do like... commercials for things  and get brand deals n’ stuff because he just seems approachable, despite not liking being in front of a camera in that way

unfortunately, the pranks that eren and connie play are on him 75% of the time :( my poor boy. def gets a grey hair or two dealin with them

expanding on what i said before, there was a little teeny bit of resentment he held towards eren because he got to be quarterback instead of him, and he gives ‘ren shit for it sometimes ( ‘ren is offended and acts like he doesn’t know why but deep down he has an idea, and taunts jean about it). but when it’s crunch time and they’re in the zone, they work so well together;  they are definitely a dynamic duo and no one can stop them

anyway, yes. armin is definitely very beefy here as a football player and we love that

naturally, eren is his best friend on the team. matter fact, he’s the one that convinced armin to join in the first place. he did really well at tryouts and practice, so they also made him apart of the starting lineup as a (full back) running back

building off this, i feel like him (and connie) are the most agile on the team. sure everyone is fast and has to have a certain level of agility and speed to even be on the team, let alone be a starter, but armin...he’s just slightly better than everyone else in that department

i headcanon that he’s the rookie of the team, meaning he joined a tad later than everyone else, which was strange because usually coaches levi and erwin don’t accept no late comers; if you miss tryouts then that’s it. but that just made everyone believe that he had real potential if they accepted him anyway

armin initially saw football as a hobby, an extracurricular if you will. but the longer he played for the team, the closer he gets to his best friend eren whilst making new ones, the more he started to realize that football was more than a hobby. it was a de-stressor, he really enjoyed being out on the field everyday. it made him forget about all his troubles for a while

speaking of troubles, he’s in college (as i previously alluded to), majoring in environmental science and ecology. he usually has a lot of stuff on his academic plate but he manages it really well and maintains a good academic standing

after his first game, a month after he joined, all the girls flocked to him and sweet ‘min isn’t used to getting attention like that, so it left him a bit frazzled, trying to listen to everyone at once and give them a thoughtful answer, while flashing them a sheepish smile (which only made his new harem swoon even more)

he’d never admit it to anyone, but all this attention definitely boosted his self esteem and his ego. it’s something he now anticipated after a game or practice, and he only got more suave and sly, taking everyone off guard

def the type to invite the boys to train or hit the gym outside practice and then hangout or something afterwards

also the type to get brand deals and be special guests on kids television or award ceremonies to present awards or whatever

okay UH when i first saw the fan art for reiner my immediate thought was he is a line backer. like immediately. to me it suits him well because he’s so bigggg n’ muscular and beefy like YUMMMM he’d be tackling mfs

another one of those kinds of players that would take the game a little more seriously than others; like jean he does things by the playbook and does it very very well

part of this is because reiner is that team member that has been playing football for most of his life: as a fun little thing in middle school, played all four years in high school, and intends to play all through college. his dream since he was younger is to be scouted by one of his favorite teams, get drafted, and go pro

spoiler alert: he does. (when they announced his name, number and what team he was gonna play, he was so shocked and almost teared up as he walked up the stage to accept his jersey. he’s so cute. )

reiner just.... looks the most natural in football attire let’s be real with ourselves. like it suits him. he loves the game so much

i headcanon that he becomes the nfl’s “it boy”, like he’s the talk of the organization for a while, people won’t stop talking about him, companies are reaching out to him for endorsements and brand deals bc why not. sports magazines reach out to him as well and he also looks natural posing for a camera as he does on the field

in his future, i can see him being inducted into the nfl hall of fame. that, he will cry at, because it’ll make him feel like he accomplished something in his life, and that people acknowledge him.

it’s a given reiner will kiiinda be a meathead, always the first to take up offers to go to the gym or stay longer after practice.

but this ain’t about levi. he’ll come next

connie def runs the most suicides bc of his aforementioned behavior

unrelated but connie is one of the most agile/fast people on the team, right next to armin. so what’s a few laps? the coaches think. the way the coaches see it, all that talk he was chatting about the latest kickback, they’ll wear him down so much he’ll be too sore to attend

connie’s position... he gives me tight end, maybe even a cornerback . i’d like to think he really enjoys playing offense more than defense.

to be frank, everyone on this list has their own little group of fangirls, and constance eats up the attention he gets. before he started playing football, it was never like this, and he wasn’t all that well known, he just blended into the crowd. but playing for his college...despite it actually being kinda fun, was the best decision he ever made

probably knew jean and was friends with him in high school and just when jean boy thought he’d escape connie (he’d never tell him or anyone how much he’d missed him at their high school graduation) there he goes at the information sessions....then at tryouts...and the locker rooms and practice... and on the field. all the while connie is just smirking at his friend’s annoyed expression

back to what i was saying before, connie is probably the prankster on the team, well, more like comic relief to liven things up. he is definitely the type to do that thing when you wring a towel up tight, all that pressure packed up in a stiff coil, before releasing all that pressure in the form of a loud smack! on someone’s unsuspecting bare ass

jean is the victim of this most of the time

everyone is howling in laughter, even armin let’s out a hearty chuckle

and that thing i said about eren being included in these schemes? yeah if the pranks are on jean, then he’ll gladly oblige because they have this unspoken rivalry between each other. but connie always gets in trouble, eren almost always slipping away at the last minute with a snicker

in this case, i think it’s a given he’s one of the coaches for this team. if this was like good cop bad cop, levi would be.. the ‘bad’ cop

LOL he’s more strict and kind of demands more from his players. the way he carries himself, he’s intimidating and just exudes authority. but the boys got used to it overtime

very punctual. he takes that seriously so the boys try their hardest to be early or arrive on time. levi don’t got time for all that shit, he just wants to do his job and get today’s session over with

in terms of coaching, i hc that levi handles practicing whatever plays are in the playbook, taking the time to make sure everyone knows what they’re doing and that they’re doing it right. that doesn’t mean his patience is extensive though, he will get irritated if someone is doing something wrong too many times. he whips them into shape by threatening to bench them or ‘sarcastically’ joke that he’ll give one of the boys a broken bone, “so now you really will be on the bench because and won’t be able to play.”

i headcanon that he’s also the one that schedule most meetings and press conferences, as well as handle everything when the boys have an away game

now if we’re talking about levi in his glory days...whew baby was dat shit fr

back when he was in college he was one of the star players on his team. he used to be the kicker, the muscles in his legs taut and strong; he never missed btw. but for the majority of his professional career, i’d like to say that he played wide receiver, like jean. he seems like he’d enjoy weaving past the opposing team (his more slender stature coming in handy) and running damn near the entire field to catch passes

the competition couldn’t keep up with him

he was that guy that had never touched a football in his life, but as soon as he started,  he was damn good. eventually got inducted into the hall of fame. one of the few times he genuinely smiled at something

out of everyone on this list, him and erwin have suffered the most injuries. one time when he was younger, levi was tackled down and he fell wrong, dislocating his entire shoulder

he loves the boys so much, outside of football, he cares about their well being and what’s going on in their lives, he’s just awful at expressing it

first thing that came to mind for erwin smith was ‘head coach’. i think it makes sense considering his ranking in the aot canonverse

referring back to my good cop/bad cop comparison from before erwin is the ‘good’ cop. and good is laying it on kinda thick. bc erwin can still be strict, he’s just slightly more lenient then levi is

if the boys had to choose, eight times outta ten, they’d pick coach smith

in terms of his role on the team, most of the time he’s the one in charge of days where the boys condition their bodies, so like endurance training, increasing their stamina, flexibility exercises etc. truthfully speaking though, him and levi’s roles are interchangeable ; they’re perfectly capable of doing each other’s jobs

but i can see erwin yelling out counts and commands during practice a little too well. sometimes he’d even do conditioning exercises with them bc “what’s the harm in that ?”

side note: he’s tall and muscular and strong it’s crazy fr

also, coach erwin is a milf chaser . kiindaaaa unrelated but it’s definitely true. esp a milf who happens to be a black woman. just imagine he’s goin to a high school game to scout out and new players who show great potential, and then he notices this gorgeous, dark skinned woman a few seats away and he just has to go talk to her . turns out her son is on the field he’s been the one that he’s been eyeing the whole time . he puts his silver tongue to use and flatters her almost immediately. by the end of the night erwin just might have scored a new member of his team and a new stepson

but besides that, he finds that a lot of single moms often offer him a lingering glance wherever he may go. i mean who can blame them ?

i feel like back when he was younger and he used to play he was a lot like reiner. which kinda explains why reiner admires erwin so much , bc he sees the resemblance too. erwin was the “golden boy” in his days.

in high school, he played quarterback and in college he was positioned as center . bc again, him leading offense and yelling out commands to the quarterback is very on brand for him

levi and erwin first met at a college kickback (yes levi occasionally went to those bc he was on the football team, but he hated every minute of it) . they met at a bar , talked about stuff, discovered they both played ball and their friendship went from there. things got interesting when they say each other on opposite sides on the field the following saturday, their schools playing against each other . they continued to hang out and meet for drinks after that .

erwin is in love with the game it would take something really serious to force him to stop playing . that serious thing, was when he tore his ACL. the way he and the opposing team member charged at each other, you’d think they were in a brawl to the death. one wrong movement and a tackle to the ground and that was it. although his knee was burning with excruciating pain, erwin gritted his teeth and stood up on his own , stumbling to the bench with the help of other coaches and teammates. he didn’t think it was that serious so he didn’t get it checked out right away

it was this mistake that cost him . now he has a long lasting knee pain which prevented him from seriously playing. he can still do physical activity, it just took him a while to get back to it

naturally, he got inducted into the hall of fame early on in his nfl career— well, at least earlier than levi did

and like levi, he cared deeply for his players and their futures, on and off the field <3 he’s such a sweetie

I figured this is a little overdue. I just wanted to introduce myself a little:

The personal real life things:

My name is Elizabeth, and I'm 27. (Old for the fanfiction writing world to some, the perfect age to others.) My friends call me Liz. I've been reading fanfiction since the dark day of Quizilla, and I've been writing it since high school, so over 10 years.

It started with me writing it for my friends and adding them into stories to allow them to live out their fantasies with characters they loved and adored. After a pretty serious car accident that left me bedridden for over a month last year, I started writing it for me for escapism. The number of stories hidden in my Google Drive is insane, lovelies.

I recently started posting due to my pregnancy, which, according to my partner, only happened because I wouldn't stop reading fairyporn, on here and in books. Fairyporn he now also reads (blows on nails before cleaning them on my shirt.) Due to pregnancy, I've been home more after making the choice to switch my hours at work to allow us to adapt and prep for the arrival of our little.

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. Later, Gary became part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and was one of its first presenters. 1) Are you named after anyone?

I have my paternal grandmother's name as my middle name, but I won't say what it is.

2) When was the last time you cried?

The older I get, the more easily I get teary eyed, especially when watching performances or pondering big concepts. I think the last actually shed tear was during the orchestral prelude of The Beauty and the Beast musical a couple weeks ago.

3) Do you have kids?

No. I have never wanted children, which surprises people who have witnessed how excited I get about births among my friends and family. I very much like when my loved ones prosper, I still don't want a baby of my own.

4) What sports do you play/have you played?

Trolley Walk, a sport which doesn't exist but engages me to my core. It is Me vs. Abandoned Trolleys in my Community And Also All Uneven Pavement and Hills, and those trolleys are going back to the shops from whence they came. The intensity ranges from Casual to Ahab and the Whale.

5) Do you use sarcasm?

I try not to, because I'm autistic and I remember the pain of not understanding sarcasm properly. I much prefer the games that we do among my squad who plays video games together on Discord, where we say very stupid things ("my hands are cold" - "get bigger hands"). It's more fun and more obvious.

6. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Probably their hair, but that's probably because it's larger than other features. I am more visually interested in people's eyes and the diversity of their bone structure.

7. What’s your eye color?

Green. It's a genetic mutation!

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

I like to be scared for fun.

9. Any talents?

Most people I am close with are impressed at how good I am at self care and housekeeping tasks, or 'adulting'. Even when I am very ill, I still manage to feed and bathe myself and maintain a reasonably ordered living space. This is a very useful trait that I would not trade for anything.

Subiaco, Western Australia.

11. What are your hobbies?

Video games, cooking, writing, going to local theatre shows, listening to video essays.

Nope!

I already have it, but it's not related to any of my creative pursuits. It involves technical copywriting and document maintenance. I am compensated reasonably, the work environment is supportive and considerate of my needs, and I have a junior team member to mentor. Learning interpersonal and leadership skills are challenging, but not draining. I don't aspire to much more under capitalism. While I do have a diploma of Graphic Design, that coursework made me realise that I would LOATHE to be creative for other people for money.

In terms of my deadname yes- I was named after my mother, and it was (as often is for spanish families) in combination with my middle name, which is after my grandmother.

My current name isn't after a family member, but has a symbolic relation to my deadname.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Maybe a month ago because I was worried I hurt my girlfriend's feelings :'D

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. I like kids, but no desire to have my own.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I think I used to be more so. These days it tends to come out only in two ways: if I am currently with someone I know very well and who knows I am not being mean-spirited, or if I am with a stranger and they are being an ass lol.

5. What sports do you play/have played?

I was a very active kid and would do all the sports! Though my favorites were soccer, and martial arts, tae kwon do and shinkendo. I have been meaning to get back into martial arts when I have more time.

I think its a tie between the persons overall face shape/facial features and their voice.

7. What's your eye colour?

Brown lol deep brown but still light enough that its not hard to see my pupils. Unless under a black light apparently lmao

Art things mostly. I'm especially skilled at drawing figures and some animals. I'm a decent singer although that is completely untrained lol

Creativity

For my creativity project i decided to start farming little sea creature [to be exact Artemias and Triops Australiensis separately] I have a great passion for everything ocean related, especially whales (i couldn't farm them tho :c) My brine shrimps are doing very well and currently going on their 3rd generation. Triops on the other hand seem very weak and there is unfortunately only 3 of them. You ca see pictures of me adding oxygen to brine shrimps

Reflection: Well, it is a joy to take care of these little guys and it gives me a lot of satisfaction, so it was definitely worth doing. I learned quite a lot anout how to feed crustacens so they will grow healthy. I also learned to not trust my sister to ever feed my animals when im not home for the weekend.

Activity

For activity i was planning to try aerial hoop gymnastics, but after going to my first class i realised that it might be not the best idea as few months ago i had an elbow joint injury and this sport has a lot of contact with hard metal hoops. Instead I decided to come back to sport i used to practice in elementary school (i sometimes went for training in high school but i was not persistent) - aerial silks(gymnastics with use of long sashes)

Reflection: I honestly am surprised about how much i missed aerial arts overall and how wasy it is to forget how hard things are ;) Although I exercise and stretch at home regularly, I still feel that I am far from the level of my classmates. I am a person who likes to do everything perfectly, so such activities are a challenge not only physically but also mentally. I go to training for 1.5 hours once a week, and I am surprised by how much enthusiasm I have when going there. I owe a large part of the fact that I did not get discouraged to the girls who went there with me, all of them, including the instructor, are very nice and create a pleasant atmosphere for exercising, I will definitely continue gymnastics.

Service

For service i participate in Uniwerystet dzieci as a volunteer. I help organise the room for, I prepare materials, help the teachers conduct classes, check attendance lists and take care of children (there are one or two volunteers with me during classes and we have a group of about 20 children aged about 10 under my care, so it's quite a challenge) This week I helped with music classes at the sociology department of the University of Warsaw. I spend there around 6 hours as there are 4 to 5 blocks that last 1 hour

Reflection: It definitely was an interesting experience, very tiring and surprising. I did work with kinds that age before (i have two younger siblings and a lot of their friends ;)) but ever in that many of them. It was kind of touching to see them having fun, made me reflect on hwo much i wuld like to be a 9/10yo kid again and have fun like this. It was also interesting to take care of those children who for some reason did not like the classes and talk to them. Halfway through the class, one boy said he hated music, another started dancing and singing, which disturbed the others a bit, and yet another girl said she was dead because she couldn't hear her heart beating. Honestly, taking care and talking to children is very demanding. I am also very happy that there was another volunteer with me, it made it easier for me to cope with all the tasks and I had someone to talk to when nothing was happening. A very interesting way to meet new friends. When I left after finishing all my duties, I was exhausted and almost immediately went to sleep, but it was definitely worth it and I'm already registered for the next lectures :)

Supposedly, yes. My parents went on a trip to India and met a happy, energetic young girl that had a very particular name they then decided on for me.

2. - When was the last time you cried?

One of my friends told me that they have gastrointestinal problems, that it was incurable and they'll probably need a feeding tube someday. I was playing a game at the time and lost because I could not stop crying. That was on January 11th.

3. - Do you have kids?

Nope, and the only way I'd ever have kids would be through someone else.

4. - Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I want to say yes, however I have some friends who don't understand sarcasm very well so it also depends who I'm around.

5. - What's the first thing you notice about people?

I'm alright at remembering faces, especially their expressions, names not so much. I also take note of how people dress, since it can sometimes reveal things about you.

Some kind of warm brown.

I'm a big horror movie enthusiast so of course the former. I don't mind the occasional happy ending though, especially when it's written in a satisfying way. We need to hope a litte.

18. What do you like th most about your favourite sport?

I could never decide between football and tennis so I have to answer for both. I love the sports for different reasons.🙈 Mention to ski jumping which was my favourite sport for a long time before but rn I don't enjoy it sm sadly.😕

Tennis the sport that I play myself. I also watch tennis and I like that as well but I enjoy playing it much more. :) So what do I like about playing tennis.

Tennis is a sport where the game is never over, you can always come back from a back match. If you watch tennis you know what I mean, there were those incredible matches where a player lost two sets and then still won the match. Maybe you remember when Dominik Thiem won the US open in 5 sets after being down 0:2 in sets. That was crazy.🤯 In tennis you can come back from anything and because it's an individual sport it's all down to you. (Unless you play doubles) So I'd say the mental aspect of tennis, the mental strenght you need to pull off a comeback like that. :) Tennis really teaches you that never give up attitude. I love that about tennis. 💪 In my competitive matches I also came back from 4:0 down and won the set 4:6 last summer(and also the match). And another time won the match after loosing 2:6 first set. 😄 There's no better feeling than winning those matches >>> That unpredictability also makes tennis a great sport to watch in my opinion. 🙈

Other things I love about playing tennis: the athletics... the speed, the sprinting, quick reactions with the volleys at the net... the feeling when you hit a winner, the feeling of getting to a really short ball after a sprint, tennis doubles with a partner you get along with well or if you play a double with your best friend and the "plop" sound it makes when you hit a ball clean 🥵 (that sounds weird but i think tennis player relate 😂😉)

Football: It's just so entertaining, for me it's the most entertaining sports to watch. What some footballers can do with the ball on their feet, the dribblings, the skill it requires to do that and with them it looks so effortless.🤯 But it requires so much coordination, it impresses me so much. If you have a favourite club it just makes football 10× better because your team winning >> and going to a match live in a stadium: experiencing the atmosphere for the first time is amazing. And you just start to love your team and all the players. One underrated aspect of football is goalkeeping I think. Some goalkeepers really do it so well you think how was that even physically possible to make that save.😂 Diving head first in full speed onto the ball in front of a strikers feed in a 1 vs 1 seems also pretty scary to me. Another major thing is of course the team spirit and togetherness a good football team has. You love to see it, your favourite players not just getting alone one the pitch but also off the pitch and many being friends.🥰 Football tactics are another area which is so interesting

I also play football (at uni, not seriously) what I love most about that is the team spirit. Playing together in a team is just one of the best things about football.🥰 Especially when you score a team goal >> But I'm not a great football player, maybe fairly talented but I play with others who all played in a club for years and I never did.😅 So I'm just happy if I can make a nice pass 😄 or even an assist. Any successful move I can show I'm happy with that. :) Scoring a goal is also a great feeling 🤩 not that I did that often yet. The goals are too tiny. 😂 (we play with hockey goals and goalkeeper🥲)

28. Sports moment that made you cry?

There are a few not just one.😅 Sports make me cry a lot when my favourites are involved.

One was when Gregor got that bronce medal in Lahti 2017, just after his crash in Oberstdorf coming back just about two weeks later. He was all emotional in the interview afterwards and so happy. 🥹❤️ This medal meant so much to him you could tell, after all he went through before he didn't even believe he'd make it to the world championships. And he was crying, so was i. I was so proud and happy for Gregor. <3

Another one was when Borussia Dortmund (my favourite club) one the Dfb Pokal (cup) in 2020. That was such a beautiful moment 😍 and it brought me so much happiness. I also went through a really difficult time back then. And seing your favourite player all happy and celebrating together. 🥰It brought me so much joy when nothing else really did that that time. Also Bvb winning something is not such a regular occasion hahah 😅🥲 so I was so proud of them it was a great accomplishment.😁

When the austria nt got into the play off's at the Euro 2021. They never got that far since I was born and they played so well. I am also a big fan of our Nationalteam and I do love these players a lot so that made me so happy.😍

Unfortunately I then also cried when they went out against italy after a strong performance.💔😅 It felt like daylight robbery with austria's 'leading goal' ruled out by the VAR.🥲 I really believed in that moment they'd win but to be fair it was an offside goal as much as I hate to admit that. It was the right decision but as a fan ofc you don't want this to happen. They fought until the last minute though and now I'm more proud of them than sad :)

A hockey romance was dangled in front of me like candy, and then my heart was sucker punched! I was instantly obsessed with Will and Quinn. Just like they were instantly obsessed with each other. Will is Molly’s brother and Finn’s BFF, from Two for Roughing. So we’re going into this already…hesitant. Knowing the way he has acted with them, I was definitely worried with the way he’d act with Quinn. After one teeny set back, I was no longer worried about that. But I was instantly worried about him. I quickly became a protective mama bear. While also collecting a new book boyfriend. My heart knows no peace! With the issues going on with Finn and Molly, Will knows a simple ‘I’m sorry’ isn’t enough. He’s willing to take action to show Quinn he’s not a terrible guy. He goes above and beyond every time. They laid their emotions out there on the table early, so I knew whatever heartbreak was coming at the 75% mark, was going to hurt like a mothertrucker! And honestly, a lot of this book hurt like a mothertrucker! Every time I read a book by this author I feel heard, seen, appreciated, included. I feel 100% comfortable. I think that’s a special, and rare, feeling when you’re reading a book. Especially if you don’t completely relate to the issues at hand. As always, this was deeply moving and meaningful in so many ways.

Shaq can't stop endorsing (seemingly) random things

So what's the pattern?

Like many people, I saw this picture on my social media feed a few years back. The haunting image has stuck with me ever since.

The first time I saw the viral X (formerly known as Twitter) image, I thought it was fake. I assumed it to be the product of Photoshop and nothing more. After all, why would Shaq, a retired professional basketball player, be endorsing a pregnancy test? It has been a long time since I speculated on Shaq's bizarre endorsement but with the birth of this blog, I've been eager to talk about this subject. Shaq's bizarre endorsements range from, yes, pregnancy tests, to executive office seating. None of them seem to make any more sense than the others. So what exactly has Shaq endorsed (it's a lot) and why does it make sense to endorse these brands?

The majority of the time, if a celebrity is going to endorse something, there is a good chance it will have to do with clothing, beauty, or wellness. As celebrities are seen as rare, exclusive, and special, very rarely do you see celebrities endorsing everyday items for the common parts of our lives. If a celebrity endorses an alcohol brand we may buy it for our parties, or wear their makeup when we go out, but the gap between the lives of celebrities and our own is vast. We both may wear shoes and work out, but that's where a lot of the similarities end. Celebrities make for excellent brand endorsers because they have spent their lives specializing in a certain career many people never have the chance to access. This allows them to be perceived to hold a very certain skill set (like how Kim Kardashian, an influencer and reality TV star known for her curvy figure, owns a shape wear brand now valued at over $4 billion). Brands can use the image of celebrities to ad a layer of credibility to their product or service. Shaq first earned his fame on the court, and is no stranger to endorsements for sneakers or basketballs. Yet since his retirement, he has branched out to other unrelated topics.

To start off, Shaq owns more than 150 car washes, 17 Auntie Annie franchises, nine Papa John's franchises (also appearing in their advertising), and has bought and sold enough Five Guy locations to amount to 10% of the entire company.

And those are just some of the franchises he has owned. When it comes to what Shaq has endorsed, the brands are even more plentiful.

Shaq also owns the celebrity likeness of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Muhammad Ali, David Beckham, and Julius Erving.

So how did Shaq become the celebrity that can seemingly endorse anything?

To understand that, you must first understand Shaq's personal brand. He appeals to men who are sports fans (specifically basketball). His audience is 75% male, and nearly half of these are aged 25-34. Shaq is brand-safe, and has faced little to no controversy throughout his career. He is incredibly recognizable. Standing at 7'1, it makes his likeness hard to miss (like in the above photo). His energy positions him as lively, youthful, and relatable. Despite his impressive investment portfolio valued at over $100 million, he still appears down-to-earth, and some of his band endorsements fuels this image (more on this later). These all appeal to his main demographic. Some things that stand out to male consumers are a good value proposition, logic, simplicity, and humor.

Imagine this: you are a male, 26 years old, and regularly keep up with sports. You're just beginning your corporate career in accounting and have big plans for your future. Your girlfriend just called you concerned that she missed her latest period. You work through your anxiety and head to the nearest corner store. Standing amongst pads, tampons, and pregnancy tests, you have no idea what to look for. You feel out of place, out of your element, and you can't stop spiraling about how your whole life could change. That's when you see the kind, familiar face of Shaquille O'Neal staring up at you from the box of a pregnancy test. You rejoyce in the presence of something known! Suddenly, the overwhelming array of products with their overwhelming array of promises doesn't seem innavigable anymore. The surprising and out-of-place endorsement is humorous and allows you, finally, to laugh. All of a sudden your serious situation turns silly and ironic. You quickly choose the Shaq pregnancy test, comforted by the knowledge that you get the gift of two free Shaq stickers with purchase.

The strange endorsements Shaq takes on allows the more mundane or scary parts of our lives to be turned into something of a comedy. We recognize the surprise of seeing Shaq, the 7'1 basketball star, endorsing an office chair, but when you're an office executive and your days are filled with excel files, something a bit unusual may be exactly what you need. Especially if your colleagues are sports fans, it would make an excellent conversation starter: I have Shaq's chair. A sleep apnea mask can become Shaq's sleep apnea mask. Your ice pack can become Shaq's ice pack. This means that these products are now seen as truthworthy, strong, long-lasting, valuable, and, most importantly, a bit funny.

Self-fulfilling Prophecies

I follow basketball news, most specifically the NBA - but I don't watch. The matches are 6 to 9 hours away, and my sleep is too important to be sacrified to see a couple of dozen athletes running around to score an orange ball in a tiny basket.

It's nonetheless fascinating to follow in depth a sport you love - as you become more fluent, you understand more subtleties, the importance of a trade, the role the ego plays at all levels, from us mortals to athletes paid millions to "play".

We're reaching the last two weeks of the regular season in NBA, and rankings are tight, as teams are either trying to secure the top seed of their conference (granting them more home games, statistically higher chances to win) avoid the play-in tournament (a knockout stage for seeds #6 to #10), or reach the play-in and avoid being the first loser.

In parallel, the NCAA (college basketball) season reached an end to culminate with the March Madness, a 68-team knockout tournament where any loss is fatal. Like every year, an underdog reached new heights, and the mind games start. As a top seed of a local conference, why wouldn't you underestimate a team, middling at best, that lost 4 to 5 times more matches than you during the regular season? But they have nothing to lose, and the top dog has. It's also partially because they were underestimated that the story is so beautiful, that people jump on the bandwagon of ephemeral, unannounced stars. The audience isn't composed of top dogs, they're people like you and I, that are underdogs, that are underestimated daily, whether it's at their school, job, by others or even by themselves.

But it's also the power of the crowd that gives them this strength - how can a lack of skill be compensated by the strength of the crowd, of countless supporters, even across oceans, to fight the odds? It's the whole tale of David vs. Goliath all over again - we love to see the young shepherd with equal chances with the armored giant. We want to relate to them, defying the odds and become exceptional - even temporarily. This push, this love we show underdogs eventually feeds them - they're not used to the big lights, and want to make their unexpected, new fans proud. And sometimes, they deliver - the small domino toppled a bigger one, only to snowball and topple even bigger ones, those you'd never imagine they would.

But where's our crowd? Who's cheering for us?

Ideally, that's our partner, our friends, sometimes even our family or our colleagues. But following this motion I keep observing, they need a reason to believe in you in the first place. Rare are those that will anyways believe in you without proving your worth first - talking is always easy, people know it and want a reason to believe, to dream. People want to relate, want to jump on the bandwagon.

The current state of social media ethics: what trends are happening in the industry? What are two current cases related to social media ethics?

I will use an organization that I analyzed earlier as an example. I will not use its name here for the same ethical reasons.

The two main ethical issues I noticed in the social media of this non-profit organization are:

Abandonment. From my analysis of all the social media they present on their website, it is clear that this was created "just to be there." After all, everyone has one. I understand that each social network has its own audience and businesses try to cover everything, but in my opinion, it is better to do business in such a way that users register in your perhaps only social network than to try to cover everything and do nothing.

Monotony. Most likely, this problem was a consequence of the first one. The organization's social networks are still alive, but they are "barely breathing" because of the monotonous and identical posts all over the place. You won't wonder "oh, what's on their Instagram?" because it's the same as LinkedIn, even though the audiences and their interests are completely different.

Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes: what brands are utilizing proper social media ethical practices? Are there any professionals that you feel practice strong ethical behavior on social media? Support your choice with evidence. What are some takeaways you can bring forth in your own practices?

I follow Apple on Instagram. I realize that it may be trite to analyze the ethics of one of the most expensive brands, where some of the world's best marketers are working. This is minimalism, which does not require a lot of words and thus does not raise any ethical issues.

The biggest thing I would personally worry about when running my business account on social media is consistency and creativity. There are many more things to highlight, but consistency is always reminding yourself in the news feed, it's never stopping, it's like a sport - the more consistency, the better the quality. People are impressed when the social networks of people or brands they followed 5-10 years ago are still relevant. They are still relevant, still interesting.

What to do and what not to do: what main concepts do you feel strongly against and want to make sure you avoid on social media?

I strongly oppose the concept of hype in the news. I really dislike political hype and clickbait news. More than once I've seen YouTube videos that have grandiose titles, but in fact are just a piece of news that doesn't solve anything and doesn't affect anything. Unfortunately, I often see this on YouTube news channels from my country, Ukraine. There is a war going on there, and unfortunately, some news channels like to give loud headlines, but in fact just say some ordinary news, but with a lot of views. It's the same with social media channels.

I also don't like it when social media of popular people are used to tune people into a particular manipulated opinion. For example, I have a lot of respect for Elon Musk for his contribution to the development of engineering and all innovations, I dream of seeing him in person, but he often uses it for many purposes: whether it's pumping the cryptocurrency Dodgecoin or posting an interview with Putin with an appeal to everyone to watch (this can also be included in my first point).
