i hope i REALLY hope we get to see kristens brothers again this season... i worry about them........................ that very brief moment in sophomore year where kristen gives her brothers a cut of the dragon hoard that was EVERYTHING 2 me. she CARES SO BAD. imagine having to leave your home because it was unsafe but then having to grapple with the guilt of leaving your siblings behind the angst could go crazy. it could go insane

Okay new theory in the vein of "The Ratgrinders are Jace's pawns" - I wonder if Kipperlilly might be trying to protect all of the Ratgrinders, the same way she's trying to protect Oisin while she acquires spell components.
I'll buy that the at minimum Kipperlilly was involved with Jace's plan to restore a corrupted Ankarna from at least Sophomore year, perhaps swayed by the idea of bringing back a goddess of Justice (she's talked about wanting things to be fair at the school). Rueben's potential to musically harness lots of people's rage would also make him a natural recruit. Lucy would be necessary as a cleric, but probably a hard sell since Yolanda Badgood was convinced that she'd never change her deity. I'm imagining the following scenario:
Kipperlilly acquires the Devil's Honey for Jace, not for herself; Jace was using her to do the dirty work the way Kipperlilly is now using Aelwyn.
Jace convinces Lucy Frostblade to change her deity, perhaps using the Devil's Honey himself, or maybe magically. Maybe he was planning to give Lucy the honey to have her lie to Ankarna and say she believes in her, maybe it was a way around Oblivati Mori, or maybe Jace wants it for himself. Idk.
Jace is the one to sign the Ankarna glyph on Lucy's paperwork (the one that the Bad Kids initially couldn't read). Yolanda says that such paperwork would have needed her signature, but maybe not if the Vice Principle of the school signs off.
Lucy changes her mind/breaks free of control and withdraws her paperwork.
Jace kills Lucy, and Porter helps (sorry but it's sus that he was talking to Arianwen and Kalina after Kalvaxus died). They either blackmail or magically coerce some of the Ratgrinders into helping - at least Kipperlilly, probably Rueben as well. Maybe all of them? He could have blackmailed Kipperlilly with the sketchy stuff she'd been doing for him.
Jace, a powerful sorcerer, is the one to brand poor Lucy with Ankarna's symbol, the same symbol he put on Lucy's paperwork.
Reuben uses the devil's honey to convince himself (and maybe the other Ratgrinders except Kipperlilly) that they had nothing to do with Lucy's death (hence the devil's honey that Fig saw bleeding out of his mouth during his Dream). Kipperlilly could have been the one to do it, and maybe the Dream indicated that Rueben had been affected by the Devil's Honey?
Reuben now doesn't know about Lucy's death, and Jace either by magic, force of personality, or blackmail gains enough power over Reuben's life to start convincing him to do things like demand that Frosty Fair be held at the Thistlespring tree. Idk how aware Reuben is of the weird magic rage symbols.
Kipperlilly decides to run for Class President to get enough power to protect her friends from Jace and Porter. It would explain why she's absolutely furious that Kristen, who doesn't care, is upstaging her.
Kipperlilly is either still forced to collect stuff for Jace OR she's collecting stuff for her own ends, but now she's using Aelwyn the way Jace used her. Maybe all of the money she has is either money Jace gives her to purchase stuff OR he tried to buy her off or something?
Jace uses a powerful spell to kill Yolanda Badgood when she finds Lucy's body and brands Yolanda's body with the same symbol of Ankarna.
It would make Kipperlilly such an amazing foil to Riz - taking on more and more stress to try to protect her friends, trying to work her way through an impossible situation. And the idea of the Ratgrinders all murdering Lucy never felt right to me - I think that even if some were involved, it's more complicated, and the big bads are Jace and, unfortunately, Porter.

Fabian and Gilear are sooooo. Still occasionally think about Gilear getting threatened(?) and Fabian saying why didn’t you tell me, I’d kick his ass. Something something I probably wouldn’t have done it then, but I will now
the gilear & fabian relationship is so important to me, personally!!
fun fact my aunt helped take care of me every weekend when i was growing up, and when she first got a gf (when i was like 3) i was soooo mad bc she was taking away my time with my aunt (she wasn't) and she thought that was v sweet and funny to have this toddler glaring at her, and dubbed herself my evil step auntie and like. i love that woman. my evil step auntie is so important to me, and is the type of person i want to be, she's unfailingly kind and generous and witty, and i love my evil step auntie!!!
i have wanted the fabian & gilear relationship to go evil step auntie this whole time and i am so genuinely thrilled and delighted that it's happening!!!! no one can be mean to gilear except fabian actually and like it's fine gilear you don't have to say you love me / of course i love you what are you talking about and i miss fabian why isn't he touring universities with us

reading my friends posts and remembering everything I love about how flawed and complex Misa is and has the potential to be if Ohba wasn't a COWARD/hj
like... she searches for basically a replacement for the authority figures in her life after losing hers..
she “loves” Light because he's Kira and the reason for that “love” is because he enacted that revenge that she couldn't. she admires Kira and is grateful to him and because of that she wants to serve him and make him happy like he made her- but she doesn't necessarily love him.
I think people forget that she was orphaned at an age that is 1) quite old enough to understand what's happening 2) not old enough to live without any guidance 3) not old enough to understand the world (the brain doesn't develop until 25 iirc) and a few more things I forgot HAHAJAJHAJAHA. But Misa's at such a fragile stage in her life when she's preparing to cross that threshold from child to adulthood, and she doesn't have the support she needs to do it. Even attaching herself to Light/Kira, who she subconsciously understands as a suitable protector, doesn't provide her that assistance she - everyone - needs at such a pivotal point in their life.
also, another person could easily take Light's place as a - I'm going to say parental but in the sense she needs comfort, protection, guidance - figure. Light doesn't show Misa very much affection at all, so if someone were to provide her with that love, she'd probably attach herself to them too - though I suppose I think Misa is very loyal, so I don't think she'd abandon Light completely, as we see pre timeskip (spent enough time together to form a genuine bond) but after memory loss (doesn't remember he's Kira).
I'm realising I didn't really make all my points for the opening statement. but oh well. Misa's character has so much potential to be interesting and have that internal conflict and it's mostly wasted :(

Does anyone else think it’s fascinating how nicknames develop? Like sometimes a nickname is a logical shortening of a name, sometimes it’s a different part of their name, like a last name or a middle name, and sometimes it’s completely random, manifesting out of a series of twisting inside jokes and memories that is impossible to explain and you’re just like, “Oh yeah, that’s our friend, The Ball, don’t mind him.”

Maybe Kipperlilly just needs more enrichment in her enclosure. Let her team up with Bud Cuddy to destroy the government. Anarchy would fix her, I think.

It doesn't actually make sense that Fig is doing her school work for Riz though. I believe that Emily made the choice not o pursue the dropout storyline she wanted because of Riz. And honestly, that sucks for her. I'm sorry she's in that position. But there's nothing about Fig's choices or behavior that read as for Riz (her waffling between majors, her refusal to attend classes in the beginning, the lack of conversation between them that would indicate that she knows enough about Riz's feelings/circumstances to be making those choices for his sake (and the history of Riz as a character indicates that those conversations aren't happening off screen)). I appreciate why Emily is defensive. But it bums me out that she's conflating her experience as a player with Fig as a character. And I think it makes the story worse
I think emily as a person loves her husband, yes, but they are currently setting up fig as a paladin of friendship, and like riz is actively and clearly helping everyone to study this year, and made everyone little packets etc, so i genuinely don’t think it’s a conflation to say that fig has seen that her friend is deeply invested in their studies this year and has gotten invested as a result, similarly to kristen not asking fig to become a paladin, but fig wanting to do that because she wants to support her friends and she thinks that would be helpful. Also more generally i don’t think she was ever actually going to drop out because this is a campaign based around going to a specific school, so she would have to just not be there for a lot of pivotal scenes? Like this is a school-centric mystery set during term time, so from the perspective of making a show for an audience, let alone playing with a dnd party, i would be very surprised if they had decided to separate fig from the rest of the party so dramatically

I'm so glad to see more people talking about just how disturbing Yuno's situation actually is and how maybe it did fuck up her 18 year old psyche to have middle aged men sleep with her
