On the very edge of a town, there is a lake, clear and blue, like a drop that fell from the heavens. Low branches of old willow trees hide it from inattentive eyes. The lake is a safe home for the little yellow duck who lives there. She looks like a common duck, if you ignore an upright feather on her head and the unusual pattern on her feet. She is, however, anything but ordinary. You see, this duck was once a human. Right next to the lake, off to the side, there is a cottage. Not too large, not too small, just big enough for two people. Only one person lives there, however. He is a writer with an extraordinary power to turn his stories into reality, though it has been years since he used this talent last. Despite his unusual gift, he strives to have as normal of a life as one could have.
