synopsis: in which jinyoung keeps his distance from his girlfriend because he doesn’t want to hurt her. spoiler alert: he hurts her.
characters: Jinyoung, Jaebeom, Youngjae, Mark, Jackson, Bambam, Yugyeom, Main Character
pairing: universitystudent!Jinyoung x classmate!maincharacter
genre: fluff, angst
word count: 3k
warnings: none
author’s note: I wrote this around march 2020 and posted it on wattpad. It’s not my best work but it’s one of the few I actually like, so I hope you will enjoy reading 😊
When Jinyoung asked y/n out she was the happiest, to say the least. She had went home and screamed like a high school girl going on a first date.
That was the effect Park Jinyoung had on people, he was the epitome of kindness, handsomeness and chivalry. It was shocking to know this kind of gentlemen still existed, and he just happened to ask y/n out.
Their first date was cute and just right. He picked her up from her house and they went to a little caffee shop that just opened, had some dessert and went on a walk along Han river. They talked and talked, sure a couple of awkward silences happened here and there but both of them tried to always make conversation and learn about each other as much as possible.
Y/n was grateful when, after dropping her home, Jinyoung was considered enough not to lean in to kiss her lips or cheeks. She wanted to take things slow.
Sure, she liked Jinyoung but she wasn't comfortable enough with him yet to start skinship right away. I mean, the two barely talked before the day he asked her out, having exchanged words with each other only when asking for notes or when they had projects.
They had been dating for quiet some time when Y/n noticed something. Something that would catch her eye every time they would meet afterwards.
Jinyoung never showed physical affection.
See at first she thought he just was taking his sweet time, so she waited, after all, she needed her own time too. She wasn't in a hurry, anyway.
As time went on and she started hanging out with him and his friends more, she suddenly noticed how, although Jinyoung was always as sweet as honey when he talked to her and looked at her, he never made an attempt in anyway. She thought he didn't want her to be uncomfortable with unwanted touches, after all, he was always attentive with his surroundings.
They had been dating for a little over a year when she noticed.
It was days after the new year had started, they all had been invited to Jaebeom's birthday gathering. Jinyoung picked her up from her house that evening, and drove to the older's house, soft music playing in the background of his car.
His eyes shifted to his girlfriend in the passenger's seat for less than a second. She was scrolling through her Instagram, her hair fallen over her face, the black coat around her shoulders covering her knee length, evening dress. Jinyoung smiled.
"Hey," he called the girl, turning the steering wheel, his eyes back on the road. He waited for her to lock her phone and hum at him.
"You're beautiful, as usual," he muttered, concentrating on the road, unaware of the effect his words had on his girl. Y/n's cheeks were dusted a deep pink. Jinyoung always used to compliment her when she was doing the most random things. He said he didn't do it on purpose, she didn't believe him.
"Thank you," she said after clearing her throat. Her eyes shifted to his neatly styled hair and formal but casual outfit.
"You're very pretty, too," she complimented. Jinyoung looked at her for a second, a playful grin on his lips.
"Pretty?" He asked chuckling deeply, Y/n nodded laughing quietly.
"Yes, I think so. Very pretty," she confirmed, Jinyoung nodded his head murmuring a "okay, fair enough". He parked the car in Jaebeom's garage, before getting out and rounding the car, opening the door for Y/n. She flashed him a thankful smile and he nodded, leading her inside his friend's house.
Jaebeom's place looked just like always, cozy and familiar. Y/n walked in and took off her heels, slipping on a pair of slippers and hanging her coat in the small closet just by the entrance. Having done so many times before.
They heard footsteps before they saw Bambam peek over the corner that led into the living room. He smiled at the couple.
"Guys y/n noona is here! Oh and Jinyoung-hyung," he called out before he came out of the corner and opened his arms engulfing the laughing girl in a big hug. Jinyoung scoffed loudly, before loudly slapping Bambam's arm and walking in the living room, greeting his other friends and the birthday boy.
Y/n made her way in arm in arm with Bambam, the two engrossed in a conversation about Bambam's new video he sent her right after filming and editing it.
She went around the room saying hello to the other boys before giving a side hug to Jaebeom and wishing a happy birthday.
Jaebeom insisted they had dinner right away because he was starving and the food was really good, when Yugyeom whined that it was still too early, Jaebeom snapped back that it was his birthday and so whatever he said would be the end of discussion.
They had just finished dinner and each grabbed a small glass of chocolate mousse before moving back in the living room. Y/n and Youngjae being the last ones to leave the dining area.
She walked to Jinyoung's side seeing as the seat beside him, was empty, the other side occupied by Mark. She mocked Youngjae when he teased her and in response the guy pushed her lightly, laughing out loud. Y/n lost her balance right when she was lowering herself to the seat, resulting in having her arm pushed slightly against Jinyoung's. She didn't think too much of it and just laughed at Youngjae when she saw his worried expression.
She did however take into notice how Jinyoung turned to her with an irritated expression, pausing his conversation with Mark, only to widen his eyes when he realized it was Y/n. She smiled at him, apologizing and going to pull back, when Jinyoung quickly shifted away from her, as if he got burnt. She took his awkward smile into notice and she had to admit, it did hurt just a little bit. She smiled like she didn't notice and turned back to Youngjae, reassuring him that she was okay.
That was the first time she noticed his reluctance when she was too close. She didn't know why he felt that way and she didn't know how to bring it up to him. So she didn't. She thought it would be okay.
She noticed after that whenever they met and hung out, she noticed how every time she would unintentionally brush her elbow against his arm he would shift away, or pull his arm back. She would notice how when they had to walk in a place too crowded he would awkwardly tuck his hands inside his pockets and make sure he was at least a couple of feet apart from her.
One day she had been hanging out with him at his apartment when she got a notification that her mid term results were up. While she waited for Jinyoung to finish cooking she decided to check her marks. She had been super worried about not doing well and if you asked Jinyoung he would say she totally didn't whine his ear off.
She squealed when she saw that she didn't do well but way too well, she got up from the couch and ran to the kitchen, excited to tell Jinyoung.
"Jinyoung! Jinyoung!"she called as soon as she reached the kitchen, the boy hummed while turning towards her, she shoved her phone in his face grinning like a mad woman. The boy smiled seeing her this excited and checked what she was showing, a wide grin made its wat to his face and he looked over at her.
Y/n on the other hand tossed her phone on the counter and squealing jumped on Jinyoung, wrapping her arms around his neck. With eyes wide and a shocked expression, his hands automatically rested on her sides. The girl pulled back, grabbing his shoulders and started jumping.
"I freaking did it! I was so worried and for nothing! I'm sorry, for talking your ear of! Ahhh I'm so happy," she rambled on, not noticing the panicked expression on Jinyoung's face. She went to wrap her arms around him again when he scrambled back hitting his hip against the counter.
Y/n stopped abruptly. Her smile slowly leaving her lips when she finally saw the look in her boyfriend's face and she realized what she had done. An embarrassed expression replaced her previous proud smile. A blush tinting her cheeks. The air was awkward to say the least. Y/n looked at Jinyoung again, their eyes meeting. She gave him a tight lipped smile before grabbing her phone and walking out of the kitchen and to the living room. Jinyoung opened his mouth to say something, anything, to stop the girl but nothing came out. He just stood in the kitchen, and regretted it as soon as he heard the front door opening and closing.
-
"You're so stupid, hyung," Bambam scoffed, leaning on the kitchen counter, looking at the older pacing in front of him.
Said older stopped his walking and turned sharply towards the younger.
"I called you to help me out not to point out the obvious, you dipshit," he retorted watching the younger mock him.
"At least you know," he murmured before screaming as he barely dodged a slipper aimed at his face.
"Don't forget you asked me to come here, I can leave right now, without giving you any advice," the twig pointed a finger at the older. Jinyoung shook his head quickly and raised his hands apologizing.
"Won't happen again, just help me," the older pleaded. Bambam chuckled. This is so fun. He thought.
"Wait, why would you even dodge her every time she tries to touch you?" He asked furrowing his eyebrows. He watched as Jinyoung slightly coughed. He scratched the back of his neck.
"She said something about her ex-boyfriend making her uncomfortable with touching her all the time," the older cleared out, a displeased expression on his face. Bambam nodded, before tilting his head to the side and thinking.
"So...she didn't like being touched by her ex-boyfriend? Like at all? Not even to hold hands?" He inquired genuinely interested. Jinyoung shook his head.
"No, more like inappropriate touches. He was always inappropriately touching her, and if he was not he would make sure it would turn inappropriate. She got really uncomfortable with that after a while," the older explained, Bambam nodded listening carefully.
"Well, have you touched her that way? Did she say that before or after you touched her anyway?" He asked taking an apple from the fruit basket, washing it and taking a bite from it. When he didn't get any answer he turned back to look at his hyung only to see him blushing madly.
"What's up with your face?" The younger gaped at him, never having seen him like this. He was scared.
"What's up with yours, shitface?" And he was back. Bambam let out an obvious breath, relieved.
"We-I-I never touched her in anyway, she told me I think after I asked her about her past relationships on our third date," the older blushed again. Bambam started coughing badly at the words he was hearing. Jinyoung frowned looking displeased at the younger. Bambam gestured for him to give him something to drink while coughing.
"You're so annoying," the older muttered passing him a glass of water that the younger gulped down quickly.
"Well, sorry for choking at your stupidity," Bambam sassed back. Jinyoungs eye shifted to the knives placed blade down in the wooden container. Bambam noticed.
"I'm only joking, no need to go behind bars," he quickly added. Jinyoung smiled tightly before switching back to a serious face.
"But like, with no touching, do you mean not even like holding hands? No hugs? No....kisses?" Bambam whispered the last part, hoping, wishing, he was wrong and his hyung wasn't as much of a loser. But all his wishes came crashing down when the older cleared his throat shrugging and avoiding eye contact.
And obviously, because its Bambam, he could not miss the opportunity of being a bit dramatic. So he deeply gasped and pretended that his knees gave out. Jinyoung quickly chucked an apple at the younger, hitting him in the shoulder.
"Stop judging me!" He exclaimed at the laughing boy in front of him.
"I need to know something else," Bambam chuckled taking a bite of the apple again, making sure he chewed slowly. Jinyoung nodded resting his head in his hands, totally feeling down that his little brother was laughing at him.
"If you never touched her, and she just shared that bit of information because you asked her. Why the hell have you been avoiding her advances? I would understand it if you just avoided touching her inappropriately but, hyung, you avoid any touches. Like its been more than a year you two have been dating and not even a kiss? Why is she dating you?" Bambam went on a rant, his last statement seeming more like a reflection than an actual question. That didn't stop Jinyoung from feeling offended.
"I-I-" the older opened and closed his mouth.
"Well, isn't that what's right?" He wondered out loud. Bambam scoffed.
"Why is she dating you?" This time he asked to the elder.
"She just shared what made her uncomfortable with her ex, not you, the least you should've done was make sure you weren't being inappropriate or making her uncomfortable. It's only normal for you to be attracted to her, hyung, she's your girlfriend after all. But at this point you've been depriving one of the essentials to a good relationship. I honestly don't know why she's still in it," Bambam spoke honestly, all traces of sarcasm gone. Jinyoung opened his mouth and closed it like a fish, not knowing what to say.
"What do I do?" Jinyoung whined and banged his head on the counter. Bambam looked at him with a disgusted expression.
"For starters, don't whine ever again, it's unsettling. And second, go get your girl before she actually realizes she shouldn't date you, and stop overthinking. Just make sure you don't make her feel uncomfortable. That's all you can do," Bambam spoke solemnly. Jinyoung nodded with a newfound confidence and smiled at his friend. "Thanks, Bam. Who knew you can actually give advice? The more you know, right?" Jinyoung grinned at Bambam's offended face, before dashing out of the kitchen and quickly grabbing his keys and jacket, he slipped his shoes on.
"You can stay as long as you want!" He screamed before slamming the door on his way out.
-
Jinyoung was in front of Y/n's house, panting heavily as he noticed her room's lights were on. He had ran all the way to her place after coming to the conclusion that taking his car was just going to be a hassle and a danger to his clouded mind.
He fished out his phone out of his pants pocket and quickly tapped to Y/n's contact before pressing the phone to his ear, hearing his phone ring.
"Pick up, pick up, pick up," he chanted softly before sucking in a breath when she picked up. The line was silent for a while.
"Jinyoung?" He exhaled deeply when Y/n's voice came through the speakers. Her voice strained, he cursed himself mentally thinking that she cried because of him.
"Hello?" She spoke again. Jinyoung cleared his throat.
"C-can you come out for a bit? I need to talk to you," Jinyoung asked hopefully. Y/n was silent for a bit.
"What are you doing outside?" She asked, he heard fumbling in the background before he heard a door open and close.
"I needed to talk to you," he muttered looking towards the house.
"I'm walking out now," and before he could say anything she had already hung up. Jinyoung shoved the phone in his pants when he saw the door opening and Y/n walk out.
She was wearing her pastel yellow cotton trousers and sweater set. He smiled fondly at the girl as she walked down the stairs of the house, her dark, wavy hair bouncing around her.
She quietly opened the main metal door and gestured for Jinyoung to enter, which he gladly did.
She closed the gate and turned making her way to the steps again, sitting on the step below the first one, Jinyoung followed her sitting on the top one not saying anything. She finally turned to him and his eyes softened when she offered a smile, though her eyes were puffy and nose was pink.
"I'm sorry, so so much," he blurted out. Y/n pulled her knees closer to her and rested her chin on them. A soft smile on her lips.
"It's okay, Jinyoung," she whispered, but he heard the small quiver her voice held.
"I-I thought you would be uncomfortable if I touched you, just like you were with your ex," Jinyoung fumbled with his fingers, now understanding why Bambam thought he was so stupid. He sounded like it. He felt Y/n's eyes on him but he did not dare look at her.
"Jinyoung," she called for his attention, the boy's head snapped towards his girlfriend.
"I don't think I would ever be uncomfortable with you, you're always so attentive and considerate," she said sincerely. Jinyoung smiled and scooted closer to her.
"Good, I never want to feel how I did today and most of all. I never want you to feel how you did today. I'm sorry I wasn't as considerate as you think I am. I'm sorry it took me this long to understand how stupid I was being," he honestly said, Y/n shook her head, smiling adoringly.
"Better late than never, right?" She muttered, Jinyoung looked at her face, feeling so much love for the girl in front of him. He nodded smiling.
"Right." He agreed. They stayed like that for a moment.
"Now let me hug you, I think I need it after my desperation, today," Jinyoung sighed lifting himself up and sitting on the step behind her. He wrapped his arms across her collarbones from behind and rested his cheek against her head. Y/n smiled lovingly and leaned back against his chest.
"What did you do?" She asked letting him sway her from side to side.
"Something terrible...I took advice from Bambam," he muttered kissing his girlfriend's hair and closing his eyes. She gasped jokingly before laughing.
"Jinyoung," she called for his attention. He hummed soflty.
"I love you," she muttered closing her eyes and leaning her head to his. Jinyoung smiled against her hair, he turned away his face from hers and pushed the back of his head towards the crook of her neck.
"I love you too, princess," he mumbled feeling at ease.

Max & Rafe with Babysitters Headcanons
Tumblr media
Magnus and Alec don’t like to leave the kids with sitters. They try to be there as much as possible - at least one of them. But since they both have demanding jobs, sometimes they have no choice but to get a babysitter.
They mostly leave Max and Rafe with their friends and family.
Izzy’s favorite activity to do with the kids is makeovers. Every time Izzy babysits her nephews, some of Magnus’ makeup coincidentally disappears. (I don’t know where they went, Magnus! On a totally unrelated note, how do you open your purple makeup set??)
Clary and the kids spend the time face painting. Once they all painted their faces blue. According to Max, his aunt Clary looked ‘riddycutelous’.
Simon uses his time to introduce Max and Rafe to Hollywood’s greatest. Max and Rafe are already obsessed with Star Wars. Rafe is going through a Han Solo phase and Max is utterly obsessed with R2-D2.
Jace tried to take them demon hunting. He is temporarily banned from babysitting the kids. (Oh, come on! Demon hunting is not that dangerous! Watching those boring movies with Simon is more lethal!!)
Magnus and Alec do hire professional babysitters every once in a while since sometimes the whole gang is needed for a mission. Magnus is very careful about who he hires to look after his children. Alec is the same. (Alexander, I have a 16 step recruitment process. Now I know it seems too much but these are our kids and we need to...Actually, make it 19. I have a few ideas too.)
Max and Rafe had some interesting suggestions. (Rafe, Ronaldo is a world famous football player! Not a babysitter! And Max for the hundredth time, I am not hiring Elyaas to look after you! He is a demon! Literally!!!)
Alec likes the babysitter to be prepared for any situation. He might have given them a crossbow “for emergencies”.
Magnus is very uneasy when a stranger is watching their kids. So he calls ‘once in a while’ to check up on them. (No, sir, nothing happened since the last time you called...which was four minutes ago)
When they don’t like the babysitter, Max and Rafe prank them until they quit. (No, Max! Uncle Jace is the one who is afraid of ducks! We need something different...What if we fill their shoes with demon goo???)
But when they like the babysitters, they are very protective of them. One of their favorite activities to do with the babysitter is baking. They love making brownies or cupcakes for their dads with cute messages (Oh, this one says ‘I kiss you’. Rafe, I think you made a spelling mis-AHHH, Magnus help me!! I am being attacked by a smooch monster!!!)
They also love putting on fashion shows for the babysitter. It is the only time they get to raid their papa’s wardrobe. Rafe wraps himself in all the silk and satin while Max’s go-to are his daddy’s sweaters.
They also like to watch Disney movies. They once binged all the How to Train a Dragon movies when Magnus and Alec were away for a whole day. They absolutely loved it. Simon still hasn’t stopped complaining about the ‘betrayal and treachery’.
Some babysitters are so liked by the kids because they are so cool and awesome. So much so that at one point some sitters received vague threats in the mail. (I don’t know, Mr. Lightwood-Bane. It just said, ‘step back, bish. They already have a favorite aunt’)
Despite how awesome and cool the babysitters are, Max and Rafe’s favorites are always ‘Daddy and Papa’ because no one else can keep them safer or make them happier.
In honor of a beautiful Annie’s birthday. Many happy returns, you sweet thing. I hope you liked it <3

Aahdfl your posts are super cute!!! Can I request the RFA+Saeran/V/Vanderwood (if you can) meeting MC's very big and equally overwhelmingly loving family because I need family fluff in my life and some of these people need in-laws to adopt them
asdfksdjflsd when I saw this ask I literally had to get out of bed and go get my lap top to answer it. I’ve been coming back to this ask all day, so it’s really long but I love it. Thank you so, so much for this idea!
RFA+Saeran+V+Vanderwood x MC with Large Loving Family
Jumin
Okay so Jumin Han is already such a family man
He’s the dad of the RFA
So when he discovers that MC has such a large family is pleasantly surprised.
Now that MC is in is life, he considers MC’s family his family.
He’s excited at the prospect of having so many people that matter to MC
He first meets MC’s parents and is expects them to like him (who wouldn’t want their child to marry someone like Jumin Han?) but he didn’t expect them to love him so much.
Immediately they’re so loving. “Jumin we’ve heard so much about you! We’re so excited to finally meet you!” and they’re inviting him to family outings.
Which he wants nothing more. Even if it’s MC’s second cousin’s soccer game DANG IT HE WILL TAKE OFF WORK TO GO SEE THAT!
The first time he meets everyone is probably at one of MC’s family reunions
He’s never felt like he comes into a place and is immediately accepted.
People are genuinely interested on what he has to say
Let me just say that Jumin loves his father and no one could ever replace Chairman Han
They understand each other on a different level and Chairman Han has provided him nothing but unconditional love
But damn it’s nice to have some normal family love.He will get to know every person in MC’s family.
He has a calendar for their birthdays, special events and anything else he plans to attend
Yoosung
Okay so at first Yoosung is nervous
Meeting his girlfriend’s parents is another thing but she has a lot of siblings???
Deep concern
MC’s father invites Yoosung to dinner so they can meet.
NERVOUSNESS INTENSIFIES
But when he walks in the door he hears “IT’S YOOSUNG!”
A bunch of little kids of various ages come running in and look at him.He blinks as he’s getting all the attention and is pulled into the house by them.
MC is the oldest sibling so her bringing over a boyfriend who wants to be a vet and likes playing video games is so cool
This really boosts up his confidence
Plus he’s not the shortest person! Yay!
He meets MC’s father who has a toddler on his hip but smiles kindly to Yoosung
It becomes very obvious that a mother is not in the picture. While MC and Yoosung are alone doing the dishes (Yoosung insisted! Despite the fact that he rarely does his own dishes but shhhhh)
He wants to ask and MC can tell
“My mom passed away a few years ago.”
Yoosung nearly dropped his plate he was cleaning “MC I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, Yoosung. It hurts but I still have everyone. And you.”Yoosung keeps it together and kisses MC’s forehead
But when he gets back to his apartment HE CALLS HIS MOM AND TELLS HER HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER DANG IT
Zen
“Zenny, how many tickets could you get me for your next show?”
Zen lazily puts his arm around MC “Probably 3 or 4. Why?”
“My parents really want to come to your next show and I think it would be a good way to meet you.”
Zen raises an eyebrow, “Oh really? I’ll see what I can do.”
Zen is pretending to be super calm and chill but oh god this makes him nervous as all hell.
He’s going to have to perform knowing that MC’s parents are in the audience.
No pressure...
The night comes out and he tries to peek around the curtain to see if he can see MC or her parents but with no luck.
He calms himself down but looking at picture of MC on his phone. He is going to be as amazing as he always is.
He of course performs wonderfully
When he goes for the curtain call he hears a lot more applause. Which isn’t too strange because he has many fans that love his performances but this seems more eager.
When he finishes and goes to the lobby to find MC he find her parents with flowers.
They then go on about how amazing he was in the performance. They’re so excited he can barely get a word in. There’s so much praise he starts blushing. What on earth was nervous about???
They go out to dinner and after MC’s parents calmed down (”Mom, dad! Please let Zen say something”) he realizes how great they are.
Also MC has a bunch of siblings? He’s going to have invite them all to his next performance.
After the night dies down and MC and Zen are cuddled up in the bed he thinks about the events of the night.
“Hyun, why are you crying?”
Zen blinks and wipes at his face. He gives a shrug and smiles. “I’m just happy.”
Jaehee
K so I actually have an OC that I’ve been wanting to match with Jaehee specifically because she has a giant family and let’s be real that’s what Jaehee needs.
So this response is based a bit off what I imagine Jaehee and my OC’s relationship.
The first time she is introduced to MC’s family she is pretty stiff and very formal
MC’s parents try to get her out of her shell and be the woman that MC has told them so much about but Jaehee just isn’t having any of it.MC knows what happened to Jaehee’s family and all the hurt she’s suffered.
“How about I invite my parents to the cafe?”
“The cafe??”
“Yeah, it’ll be fun. Especially if my brothers and sisters come. They’re kids, they love sweets.”
It takes some convincing but Jaehee finally decides that it would be a good idea.
They pick a day that’s slow so Jaehee and MC can have time socialize without ignoring any regular costumers.
Jaehee is still working on the sweets when MC’s family comes in. She knew that MC had a lot of siblings but it was starting to get a little overwhelming.
MC gently puts a hand on Jaehee’s shoulder and introduces her to her siblings.
They all excitedly watch her finish up the sweets which puts pressure on her.But once she gets into the groove of making her sweets, she starts to relax a little.
Her anxiety spikes when she actually has to give them
But once she sees that they love them, it makes her relax so much more.
She may tear up a little when MC’s parents say how proud they are of her for following her dreams and creating such a successful business
But the true turning point where Jaehee finally lets herself be herself with MC’s family is around Christmas time.
Each year MC’s family get dressed in horrible Christmas sweaters and take a family photo. Jaehee goes over to Christmas but is fully prepare to watch on the sidelines until she receives an ugly sweater and is in the picture.
Ahhh my heart
Seven
Tries to avoid meeting MC’s family
He knew because of his research that she had a large family
And he already didn’t want to bring MC into this life of danger
So now bringing so many people into his life was really hard for him
MC finally explains to him the part he didn’t know about her life. Her parents are actually her foster parents
She talks about how she bounced around from foster home to foster home. Always getting in trouble and being so angry at the world for the cards she was delt
But then she landed with her foster family. They worked with her and gave her the love that she needed
That gets him to agree to at least meet her parents.
Once meeting them he can understand how they could have done what they did for MC
They’re so kind and patient.
At first Seven is trying to be his old jokey self as a defense mechanism
They’re not annoyed or anything they’re just patient with him
In the end he’s so happy that MC had this life
And maybe he could have that life too
Saeran
Nervous wreck
Does everything he can to avoid meeting MC’s family.
He really worries that he’s not good enough for MC
So MC starts out with baby steps...or in the case toddler steps!
She first introduces Saeran to one of her younger siblings
At first he’s still nervous but he handles being around children a little bit easier
They walk around Saeran’s garden to make him even more comfortable.
At some point MC’s sibling toddles up to him and offers him a flower they plucked out of the earth.
It still has roots and is dirty but it’s one of the best gifts he’s ever received.
Bends down and thanks them and then explains to the toddler what the flower means.
The toddler doesn’t understand but that’s okay.
Slowly Saeran works up the courage to finally meet MC’s parents.
MC asks if he wants to them in the garden but he says no he’s going to meet them for dinner. He works very hard to prepare dinner with MC (she helped him learned some cooking skills and he’s gotten pretty good!)
He’s still a nervous wreck and nearly has panic attacks on multiple occasions but knows that this will make MC happy so he’s going to do it.
MC had told her parents a little bit about Saeran and they know to be very patient with him
Not they aren’t already but they just know a little bit as to what to expect.
He’s quiet at first but eventually he starts to open them up.After a really long time of healing Saeran is so grateful to have MC’s parents and siblings in general.
V
V agrees to meet MC’s parents but like Jaehee he is very formal and almost stiff
He’s not rude or anything but it’s clear he’s keeping his distance
This is due to a variety of reasons
First, MC’s parents’s opinion of him is very important. He does not want to mess that up and he honestly wouldn’t know what to do if they had a negative opinion of him. So there’s that.
Plus, he still struggles with opening up to people. He is getting better at that and not keeping all his secrets to himself but MC’s family is not someone he wants to make a bad impression on.This goes on for a while of V being pleasant but keeping a distance
That is until the idea of MC’s parents going to one of his photo galleries
He agrees but is unsure internally
When MC’s parents see his photos they are absolutely blown away. Their positive reaction makes V open up just a bit more.It is clear to MC’s family that V has a lot of his own baggage.
At one point, when MC’s mother is able to have a moment alone with her she asks. “Do you worry about hurting people?”
V is taken aback by the question. He thinks about it for a moment and then nods. “Yes.”
“Jihyun, do you know what I think hurts people more than sharing burdens?”
V shook his head.
“Knowing that someone you love has a burden but they feel like they can’t share it with you.”
K.O.
He may not ever tell his secrets to MC’s family (and that’s okay with them) but he does let his own personality shine through and eventually creates a great relationship with MC and her family.
Vanderwood
At first is completely against meeting MC’s parents.
He is still use to the agency rules of not having a family
He barely wanted to bring MC into all of it, let alone her family
Too many risks
“Vanderwood, you aren’t in the agency anymore. You can have a new life.”
But after a long time he finally decides to go to their house for dinnerIs shook when he sees how many siblings MC has
How does MC keep track of them all???
But amazingly the house is so clean.
How the heck is Seven so dirty but there’s a dozen people in this house and it’s spotless???
Immediately the kiddos want to play with Vanderwood’s cape/jacket/thing
“Whoa that’s such a cool pattern!” “I want one!” “Can I try it on???”
“Um...okay?” He puts it on one and it’s so big.
When MC’s parents come out they burst out laughing see the young child wander around in the oversize article of clothing
After an evening at MC’s place he realizes how much he missed these types of connections.
He really enjoys himself.
On the way back, Vanderwood quietly takes MC’s hand. “Maybe...maybe I could get Seven to find my family.”
MC squeezes his hand back. “I think that’s a great idea.
If you’re feeling generous then go over to my ko-fi!

Forever with you - Jumin’s version
@roxinhonani said: Okay i got one, it’s only for seven or jumin though (or both if you end up liking it). Mc dies while giving birth. When their kid is four or five years old, they are drawing alone in their room, when jumin/seven go to check up on them they see a drawing that looks a lot like mc, when they never showed any picture of her to them. When they ask who is it they simply say that it’s their ghost friend that they talk and play a lot. (Summing it up: their kid is a medium) Very angst with happy ending
Ahhh I love these kind of requests! Mhh, I‘ve decided to do both, I hope you like it! Although, once again they are on a different post XD
Tumblr media
Everyone knew that the two of you were the most powerful couple in Seoul.  There was nothing the two of you couldn’t accomplish.  You with your beauty, who seemed more like a goddess than a woman and he with his strength, a CEO-in-line.  But there was something that both of you couldn’t do, not with beauty, kindness or money.  Reviving people, avoid death.  This was something none of you could do, unfortunately.  Jumin Han didn’t plan things like that, neither did you.  He didn’t plan that you, his wife would die while giving birth.  He still could hear your begging screams, to please help you, to let your survive.  It wasn’t a selfish beg but one of a mother who wanted to see her child, her daughter.  But Jumin Han was unable to do anything.  All he could do was looking at your crying face and getting pushed out of the room.
,,Is the baby there?“ the RFA jumped up, a big smile was on their faces.  The black haired man turned around, his face was pale, his eyes were red and he had eye bags.  ,,She’s losing too much blood and the umbilical cord is around the babies’ neck....“ he mumbled.  The smile of the RFA disappeared, none dared to speak up for a while.  Time went by, it seemed like a long long long time but finally the doctor stepped out.  Jumin never lost his hope, he knew that you were strong.  You had to be strong.  ,,I‘m sorry to tell you Mr Han that your wife died. We could however save your daughter. I‘m sorry for your loss.“ the doctor whispered.  That day the world went down for Jumin Han.
Jumin ordered Jaehee to put away every picture of you in the house.  His reason was that if he would see you, he wouldn’t be able to keep going.  The RFA accepted his way to handle his lover‘s death and so you died even in the RFA‘s mind.  None ever said a word about you.  Especially not in front of Jumin or the little girl.  He also commanded to change her birthday.  There was no way he could handle to throw a party for his daughter knowing that his wife died that day, he stated.  And Jumin never remarried.  Every year at the same day Jumin sent his daughter away, her real birthday, to stay alone.  On this day the young CEO would cry, pray and talk to you.  ,,I‘m thankful that you saved our daughter. I‘m so grateful. She‘s so special. I wish you would have....known her....but without you it isn’t the same....can’t you give me at least a sign?“ he begged that night and fell asleep after his second bottle wine.  ,,Daddy hello!!“ the young girl laughed when she returned home the next day.  Jumin smiled brightly at her and hugged her.  ,,Was it funny at Jaehee‘s place?“ he asked her.  For him it was important that his little girl had a female figure next to her and since Jaehee was your best friend, choosing her was the right decision.  And she had nothing against it.  ,,Yes! I could color the whole day! Look at that masterpiece of mine!“ she laughed.  As always she was cheerful and Jumin loved that, just like you used to be....  But the picture his beloved daughter drew shocked him.  It showed a beautiful woman in front of a cherry tree.  Jumin remembered the scene. You told him like that that you were carrying his child.  The picture resembled you so much.  So accurate, filled with details....this couldn’t have been by a child, right?  Jumin glanced to Jaehee.  She also shook her head as a sign that it wasn’t her.  ,,Did someone help you with it, dear?“ he asked his daughter softly, stroking her arm.  She strongly nodded.  ,,My friend! We talk a lot and play together so much! But she says that I can only tell you and your friends because she‘s a ghost! But daddy she‘s so beautiful! You would surely love her!“ she blabbered out and kept looking at the picture.  At that moment a lot of thoughts haunted his mind, was this your sign? Was this real? Should his daughter see a specialist? Could she see also other ghosts?  That night Jumin couldn’t sleep instead he laid next to his daughter and observed her calm sleep.  ,,Mr Han, I really believe that she‘s a medium....“ a specialist which was called by him told him.  Jumin nodded. He decided to support her and talk through her with you, his wife.  ,,But perhaps it will go away while she grows, this often happens to children.“ the man said.  Jumin didn‘t know what to wish for but for now he wanted to talk with you through his daughter.... And thanks to that a lot of things changed.  Pictures of you were finally again in the house and your daughter finally knew more about her mother....

(LONG POST AHEAD; UPDATING AS TIME ALLOWS ME) Can yall tell i had such a great time at Comic Con Honolulu?!
It was amazing, it really was. I blew money on the 3-day pass because i wanted to meet the cast of the Dragon Prince so badly.
And they are really #thebestcasttbh. They were all so cool, y’all have no idea. I first went to Jason because he’s the most seasoned of the actors there and I wanted to chat with him about voiceover stuff.  He was amazed by my Aaravos-inspired belly dancer costume (”Oh my God, would you look at this?  This is fantastic!  That is amazing!  What an awesome take on the character”), and we talked a lot about voiceover, acting, Viren, how Hawaii was treating him (deliciously, apparently) and The Dragon Prince project as a whole.  He is super chill, eeeeeeee Then, to Jesse, because I always want to meet fellow Pinoy in the industry to learn from and just connect with. And omg, did we connect.  He’s actually half Pinoy, it turns out, and Inocalla is a last name made up by his grandfather to protect his family in the aftermath of WWII (his real last name is De Luna-but Inocalla caught on, go figure.) We talked a lot about being Filipino in an industry that doesn’t want to represent us, voiceover and acting, how Hawaii was treating him, Soren and everything in TDP (he was just shocked when he read That Part in the Season 2 script), and while we were talking he ‘called out’ Paula, declaring her ‘canceled’ (”YOU’RE CANCELED”, she retorts to him while taking a picture with some fans). And then the ladies of TDP noticed my costume, as well as their companions and handlers. One of the handlers (fabulous, colorful short hair) excitedly asked if my costume was inspired by Aaravos, which I confirmed it was.  Paula and Racquel loved it, as did their handlers/companions/friends. “I love the face jewels!” “It’s so beautiful!” “I love it!” Sasha, sweet wonderful girl that she is, REALLY loved my costume.  She noticed my costume and her whole face lit up.  It was the best thing ever and basically made my day.  She seemed almost giddy when I asked to hug all the cast members and pretty much threw her arms around me when I got to her.   We chatted a bit excitedly and I asked her, Paula, and Racquel how Hawaii was treating them. Paula’s mum was exploring the bars in Waikiki, Racquel was loving the sun and beach, Sasha and her folks were having a blast especially with food (”Most of our trip has been us eating and I love everything!”).  Sasha then proceeds to run over to Jason and throw her arms around him.  “Handler!  Han-DLER!”, he jokingly calls out to Sasha’s ‘team’ when she hugs him. Adrian who’s watching everything from his table next to Jason’s proceeds to chuckle while Jason and Sasha jest about the jokes they share in the recording booths.  (Apparently, “I farted” is a line Sasha likes to whisper to Jason on the regular.) When mentioning Aaravos and joking about how short I am compared to Erik Todd Dellums, his voice actor, and there’s some questioning about how tall he actually is, Jason goes, “Oh yeah, Erik’s super tall.” “What is he, 7 feet?” “No, 6 and a half feet. So 6.5.  Dude, 7 feet is freaking tall.″ “He’s 7 ft tall when you’re not looking, lol” While they’re talking about something or other (I believe amongst them and their handlers), I take out my veil and proceed to fiddle and dance with it a little, and most everyone, especially the cast, was enthralled.   “Do you wanna record me?  You can take pics and video”, I tell them, and Paula excitedly pulls out her phone to record me, asking for my permission to record and to add me to a vlog she's making about her trip here.  Of course I’ll let her.  I forgot if Sasha or one of her folks was recording too, but it was all good.   I proceed to do some moves with my veil, but upon me trying to do an overhead trick one of my elf ears comes off (Paula, delete that footage please lmaooo).  “Welp, they’re coming off”, I say, yanking off the other ear and tossing it to my bag amid dismayed ‘noooo’s from the same girl that recognized Aaravos in my costume. “Aaravos is donning a human disguise now.”  I continue with a few more moves then take a bow.  Sasha has come back to her table and does a happy little clap when i finish.   “That is so pretty’, Raquel says about my veil.   I hold it out to her.  “Would you like to play with it a little? Since you’re Claudia, and purple’s basically her color...” Raquel is as giddy as Sasha when I hand her my iridescent purple veil.   Paula: “So, Raquel, can you show US your bellydance moves?” I hope it appears online, and soon, because Raquel’s little dance with my veil is as funny and silly as you’d imagine.  Of course she’s not a belly dancer, but she still very much gets into it and thoroughly enjoys my veil. We all have a good laugh as she finishes, and thanks me before handing me back my veil.   Soon, too soon, the upcoming panel with all seven of them is approaching.  I get to talk to Jack De Sena, the voice of Callum, as he comes back with Jason’s wife.  I saw Adrien and we said Hi to each other because I didn’t know what I’d ask him or talk to him about. I found out from his handler he was enjoying his time as well, having had malasadas for breakfast and having had a coco puff from Liliha bakery (a local favorite) during the autographs session.  He was dismayed at the lack of food since he had been a handler for Comic Con guests in the past, and in the past it was very common for con attendees to get food as gifts for guests, to the point where the guests wouldn’t even have to buy lunch/dinner/snacks/whatever because if there’s one way we all show love in this state, its with our diverse food.   I then told him that it was mentioned online during pre-registering that food and drinks were not allowed to be given to the guests, most likely due to cons in other parts of the world where people brought food that was tampered or poisoned to artists and performers they didn’t like under the guise of gifting as a fan.  I mentioned the infamous incident fairly recently where a comic artist from China, I believe, was gifted cookies that had needles in them that injured her mouth and basically hospitalized her, and they had come from a misogynistic fan that hated her work and wanted to harm artists and actors like her. He was so disappointed but sadly understood, assuring me that some found a loophole by giving boxes of wrapped and sealed stuff like locally made cookies (incidentally enough). A note: From the fans of Hawaii, fuck you, you dangerous, petty fuckers in particular.  Thanks to you, you’ve saddened and disheartened many con-goers and con-guests worldwide and here over some molehill you decided had to be a mountain. No food or drinks, which was sometimes the most affordable option for a fan to show love to an artist or actor they love since collateral like autographs and photo ops do cost quite a bit more than many of us could afford.  Even more than soap and deodorant.
But I digress.  Jack and I chatted a little, and i thought he'd been here for a con before but was mistaken.  This con was his first con here, as well as his first time as an adult since the last time he was here was at 16 with family.  He’s around 30 now.  He’s enjoying his second round here, moreso as an adult. Fantastic. There was more I wanted to say to him, but couldn’t drum it up as everyone was gearing up to head over to the panel room two floors up. The ladies beckon me back, especially Sasha who wants to take a picture with me before they all head to the bathroom before the panel. I take my veil and prettily drape it over both of us and Paula takes our picture.  Please put it up soon so there’s proof I met yalls, lol. I got to hug the ladies and gentlemen one more time before they had to take a bathroom break in preparation for the panel.  I had managed at least to tell the cast that I had blew money on the 3-day pass mainly for them.  They were so humbled. On my way to the panel, I ran into Princess Allura and Hunk cosplayers, and I was able to get a nice picture with them.  A girl had recognized them and I took her picture with them on her phone first.  Ahhh, what pretty people. I couldn’t stay for the whole panel due to a prior commitment to a friend for her birthday, but I was able to stay for the first few minutes of the panel, coming across an amazing Amaya cosplayer as I did. With armor and everything.  She was so fab.  We cheered for them as they came up.  I was still in a happy daze over having met these basically-celebrities just minutes before.  When introducing themselves, Jack was first and the applause seemed fairly quiet.  They all joked that the audience had to build momentum in applause, Jason then pointing out that Adrian would get the loudest applause.   Raquel was next, and when Jesse introduced himself after his applause was louder.  Lots of hooting for Jason and Sasha and Paula. And then... Adrian: “I am the warm cinnamon-frosted strawberry that is Commander Gren.” Audience: *roaring applause* Rest of the cast: *groans* Adrian: YES! THANK YOU! Jesse ‘warms us up’ with asking about everyone’s response upon finding out they got called back for The Dragon Prince.  Please keep in mind that I’m pulling from my very scrambled memory and paraphrasing everything here. Jesse: Basically that he approached  A kid in the audience then asks about everyone’s favorite line. Rest of cast: Ooooh.... Jason: Good question.... Paula: *Rayla voice* “Are ye talking to tha painting?” Jesse: “You gotta butter it up. Butter it up. BUTTER IT UP.” I dunno, I just thought it was hilarious, the way it was written. Claudia: “It wasn’t the hoooorse.” Adrian: “Hey, that’s me!  I’M Commander Gren!” Jack: “Destiny is a book you write yourself.” Sasha: “Jelly tart?” Jason: *recalling that time Viren decided to splash very suspicious, unknown things into his eyes, complete with a full, deep breath from the inner core of his being and throwing his head back* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! All the laughter.  It was great. Unfortunately, around that time I had to leave.

Hoshi Imagine
For my cute friend who is not on Tumblr XD  Happy late late birthday for her.. I really wanted to gift this to her as it was her birthday but here I am late af
Pairing: Hoshi x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Summary: You knew Hoshi for years, but today something was different, you look different today.
(Light drinking mention)
[Inspired by Love Air - AB6IX]
___________________
You sat at the table with your friends, being treated out for your birthday. You hung with your best friend Jihye and your other two best friends Hoshi and Jeonghan. You four had been best friends since you could remember. Jihye and you bonded as kids. Hoshi was your neighbor who you would play with every day. Jeonghan came in later but that didn’t mean that you weren’t close. You all got along well and even made the promise to stay friends no matter what.
“What do you want?” Hoshi asked you as you stared at the menu.
“Hmm… I think I might go for (your favorite food).” You said as soon as you saw it.
“Always..” Jihye laughed. You glared at Jihye as you handed your menu to the waiter. Jeonghan chuckled as he softly yawned.
“Are we that boring Jeonghan?” You glared and he puts his hands up like he didn’t do anything.
“What did I do?” Jeonghan was confused before you all laughed.
“Why are you yawning?” Hoshi asked and Jeonghan scratches the back of his head.
“I sort of did an all-nighter,” Jeonghan admitted and Jihye softly slaps his arm.
“Yah, you knew we were doing this and you pull an all-nighter again?!” Jihye said, getting mad in your place.
“I was working on something, jeez..” Jeonghan defended himself. You chuckled at their interactions. You let them argue as your attention focused on Hoshi. You would be lying if you told yourself that you didn’t like Hoshi. That childhood crush that never vanished. Today, he looks as beautiful as always and you always wish for more but could never act upon your own feelings.
“Yah, (y/n).. You need to tell Jeonghan that he can’t keep pulling all-nighters..” Jihye said, bringing your attention to them again.
“Jeonghannie… You can’t keep pulling all-nighters… Especially not for games.” You said, and Jeonghan pouts.
“I was grinding my character to max level,” Jeonghan said, pouting. You chuckled at his childish behavior.
“Jeonghan, are you sure you’re okay to function today?” Hoshi asked and Jeonghan nodded.
“Perfectly fine.. I don’t want whatever we planned today to go to waste. It’s (y/n)’s birthday, we can’t waste the day!” Jeonghan proclaimed and you just smiled. That is why you love this small group of friends of yours. You all mean so much to each other, which is why you were afraid that your crush on Hoshi would Jeonghange this.
Once, your food came, you all just talked about everything that has happened recently. You all decided that some alcohol refreshments would be nice to celebrate.
As soon as you all finished and left the restaurant, Jeonghan was drunk and Jihye was trying her best to keep him standing.
“Jeonghan, it’s (y/n)’s birthday yet here you are drunk off your butt,” Jihye complained. You laughed as you were feeling a bit tipsy yourself.
“It’s okay Jihye.” You confirmed as Jihye walked towards the taxi she ordered.
“I’m sorry (y/n)… I wanted to continue with you today but I have to take Jeonghan back since he’s not in the condition to continue.” She frowns and you shook your head.
“No… Thank you for spending time with me, but you need to go get your man..” You said, causing Jihye blush.
“Stop.. I don’t know what you’re talking about..” Jihye denies as the taxi approaches. You chuckled as you watch Jihye get into the car with Jeonghan.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Jihye said before the taxi took off. You waved them off. You turned to see Hoshi standing next to you. This whole day he’s been quiet, so you weren’t sure what was going on with his mind.
“Hoshi.. You okay?” You asked as he turned to you and smiled.
“Yeah… Are you going to go home?” He asked and you shrugged.
“I think I’m going to walk for a bit..” You said, wanting to enjoy the night time and the weather.
“I’ll walk with you.” He said, making your heart skip a beat.
“It’s fine.. You don’t have to.” You said and he smiled at you.
“I don’t mind. Besides, it’s your birthday..” He said.
______________
You both walked by the Han river, seeing the lights light up. You smiled, your tipsiness almost lifting, but you still felt wobbly. When you stumbled, Hoshi caught you, turning your face into a tomato. “Ahhh.. I’m sorry..” You said, quickly pushing yourself away from Hoshi. Your heart racing.
“That’s okay.. Just don’t hurt yourself.” He said, and you nodded. You both find a spot and sit down looking out into the river view. You could literally feel your heart pumping out of your chest.
“It’s a nice night..” You said, breaking the silence. Hoshi hummed and you turned to look at him. He was truly beautiful.
“You know.. you could take a photo.. It lasts longer.” Hoshi said, catching you off guard. Your face flushed bright red as you quickly look away. He laughs and leans in closer to you, his hands forcing your face to look at him.
“Hoshi..” You said softly as he gives you the smile that you always love.
“It’s crazy… This whole day… I see you every day, so beautiful.. but today… You look even more beautiful..” Hoshi said, causing you to cover your face with your hands and pulling away from him.
“Don’t say things like that.” You said and he just softly chuckles at your reaction. He takes your hands and holds them down with his.
“(Y/n)..” He says, causing you to open your eyes and look at him. He smiled, making your heart jump again.
“Hoshi..” You said.
“You always make my heart jump. I can’t escape the plan my heart makes. You pushed me over the edge, how am I supposed to feel? You were beautiful and yet today you made my heart go crazy, it’s making me feel dizzy.” Hoshi confessed, making you feel like you were dreaming.
“Hoshi..” You began but his quick peck upon your lips made you lose track of every word in the language.

February Words #2: Folk
Ahhh.... it's technically the 4th my time and I still haven't made up for starting a day late, but this is the most words per day I've done in awhile!
Today's prompt was "Folk." Luke/Han/Leia, but this one's Luke/Leia centric. Leia's POV, no trigger warnings, set on Hoth a few months before ESB.
Read on AO#3 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/13560702) or here: ~2 ABY~
Leia had exactly one thing to say about Hoth: It was cold.
She wasn’t honestly sure how Luke and Han were coping. Sure, Han complained, because he was Han and that was what he did, but she never caught his hands shaking or his teeth chattering like hers did, when she was fairly sure no one was watching. When she though it might be safe to drop the facade.
Luke, on the other hand, seemed utterly unfazed, which frustrated Leia a little. He was from a desert planet, wasn’t he? But he seemed so cheerful, so happy with nothing more than the Alliance-provided snowsuit, sometimes topped with this ratty old poncho he had brought with him from Tatooine.
“That looks warm,” Leia whispered, white-breathed, over one of the monitoring consoles.
“What, this?” Luke smiled, suddenly shy, running his fingers down the seam of the poncho. “My Aunt Beru made it for me.”
The sadness in his voice made Leia’s heart... vibrate, almost, like something striking an instrument at exactly the right place to make it sound. She had never known his Aunt Beru. But he’d lost her on the same day Leia had lost her parents, and that—together with their shared age and birthday, their escape from the Death Star, and a hundred other moments since then—made it feel like they belonged like this, together.
She met Luke’s eyes, then looked away, and the ensign who’d been monitoring the console sidestepped to the end of the station. Ever since Yavin the rest of the Alliance had been giving her and Luke as wide a berth as was possible in close quarters. The hero and the princess. She smiled to herself. Everyone seemed to want—to expect—the two of them to become more.
“You can have it if you want.”
Luke’s voice broke her reverie, and before she really had time to think, to answer, he was wrapping the poncho around her shoulders. It was warm and just a little rough, and smelled like Luke—like he had smelled when she met him, and she guessed that mean it smelled like Tatooine.
“It’s warm.” She inwardly cringed at how childlike she sounded. Luke made her feel safe; that was dangerous, sometimes. They were still at war, and she was still a leader here. “I mean... I appreciate it. Thank you."
Luke looked away, the smile on his face about as awkward as Leia felt. “It actually does get cold on Tatooine. I mean, we don’t go out much at night, because of the sand people. But when the suns go down—“
“Hey, Luke!”
Reflexively, Leia took a step back, away from Luke and toward the ensign. Leave it Han Solo to ruin... whatever this had been about to be.
“Captain Solo.” And just like that, her voice was cold and distant.
Han had told her last night that he was leaving. Again. And even though he hadn’t followed through on that promise yet, Leia didn’t want to let herself get too attached.
Luke, however, was a different story. “Han!” He cried, and the smile that lit his face was like the sun.
This was the real reason that Leia and Luke weren’t together. Han Solo’s presence... complicated things.
“Greetings, your worship.” Han turned to Leia, taking in the poncho and the expression on her face with a look that seemed to see into her soul. “That’s a new look,” he said. “I like it.”
“I was cold.” She made a show of rolling her eyes. “Luke loaned it to me, because he’s a gentleman. Unlike some people I know.”
Han spread his arms wide, with a self-confident smirk that somehow made Leia want to kiss and slap him at the same time. “Hey, I’m a gentleman. General Rieekan was looking for Luke here, and I offered to go find him. That’s all. If I’d known I’d be in your royal presense...” He gave the poncho a pointed look. “I might have dressed for the occasion.”
“There will be no need for that, Captain Solo.” She shrugged the poncho off her shoulders, but before she could hold it out to Luke, he shook his head. “You keep it. It’s warmer in the speeders than it is here.”
“Thank you.” And she wrapped it back around her, and the world smelled like him again.
***
She knocked on the door to Luke’s quarters later that night, and heard Threepio answer from the other side.
“I’m afraid Master Luke is... indisposed at the moment.”
“I’m fine, Threepio,” Luke’s voice rang out. “Who is it?”
“It’s Leia.”
The doors swung open, revealing an obviously flustered C-3PO, and a tired-looking Luke wearing fluffy socks, pajama bottoms—and absolutely nothing above them.
“Come in,” he said, and waved her into his quarters. As if he wasn’t half-naked. Or didn’t care.
“I really just came to return this.” She held out the poncho, folded carefully into a square, and Threepio stepped forward to take it.
“Wait, Threepio,” Luke said, and then looked back at Leia. “You keep it.”
“I couldn’t.” Not when it was maybe the last he had of his Aunt Beru, or of the life he’d had before.
“Really,” he said. “I... I want you to have it.”
Leia hugged it to her chest. “Okay.”
***
She rarely wore the poncho in public. But she wore it in her chambers every day.
***
“Mistress Leia! Mistress Leia! Captain Solo said you were looking for me. I hope I haven’t kept you waiting. The floors around here are treacherous. I—“
Leia smiled. “Thank you, Threepio. I haven’t been waiting very long.”
“Oh.” This seemed to placate Threepio; he inclined his golden head toward her. “Captain Solo indicated that you had a job which only I would be able to perform.”
Not for the first time, Leia marveled at the amount of emotion Threepio’s programmers had managed to give him. She wasn’t exactly sure that only Threepio could help her with this one, but his pride would be more of an asset than the stubborn adhesion to the rules that most of the droids she knew had. What she had in mind wasn’t exactly a vital Alliance mission, but she knew Threepio would give it his full attention.
“That’s right.” And from beneath her duvet, she drew out Luke’s old poncho. “I need you to look into how to make something like this. And, Threepio? Don’t tell Luke. Please.”
“But Master Luke is surely the Alliance’s most reliable source of information about his own home planet of Tatooine! Without his help, it could take—“
“Threepio!”
“Yes, Mistress Leia?”
“You can’t tell Luke. Okay? It has to be a surprise.”
For a minute, she thought Threepio might object, but he simply cocked his head and said, “I see.”
***
Leia had never been especially grateful that her mother had taught her to sew. She’d been more interested in politics and literature, in shooting and riding, and the more domestic-seeming of her lessons at the palace had seemed like futile hobbies she’d never need.
Breha Organa could have never imagined her feisty, impatient daughter taking an interest in traditional Tatooinian needlework. But Leia sent her a silent thanks, for making sure her education had been well-rounded.
The cloth came from a cargo run, a special request whispered to a captain who owed Leia’s father a long-ago favor that he’d never been able to repay. The needle and thread came from stock at the base, used to keep the Alliance’s sparse uniforms in service for as long as they could. The color and thickness weren’t quite right, and Leia’s barely-trained stitches weren’t quite even. But when it was done, at least from a distance, the poncho looked a lot like like Aunt Beru’s.
The buttonhole took her more hours than she would ever admit, and more than a few rejected offers by Threepio to find a mender droid who could help her. It ended up a little crooked, but fine. Until she tried to add the button.
It was too big.
“Threepio?”
“Yes, Mistress Leia?”
“I think we need to find another button.”
Luke and Leia’s shared birthday was tomorrow. She’d barely been able to finish the poncho on time. And even though Luke hadn’t said anything about celepating, even though they all forgot the standard date half the time, as worried as they all had to be about the cycle of days and freezing nights on Hoth, Leia wanted to have it ready on time. She wanted to repay Luke somehow—for the poncho. But also for being the closest thing to family she’d had for the past two and a half standard years.
“That buttonhole is approximately 1.783 centimeters wide. This is not a galactic standard size,” Threepio added. “It may take time to find a perfect fit.”
“Please, Threepio?” Leia looked up through the tears she’d been fighting to keep back throughout most of the buttonhole ordeal. “It would mean a lot to Luke. And to me."
“Well, yes.” Threepio nodded. “I understand, Mistress Leia. Artoo and I will see what we can do.”
***
Leia’s chamber door was open when she came back later that evening, from a meeting of the Alliance High Command that had gone an hour later than it should have.
“Threepio? Artoo?” she called. Both of the droids had her door code. But the voice that answered her, from her bedroom—her bedroom!—was just about the last she wanted to hear.
“Back here, your Worshipfulness.”
“Captain Solo?”
“I hope you don’t mind.” He was sitting on her bed. “Threepio said you were looking for something.”
“Please.” Leia hated how drained her voice sounded. How tired and unconfident and young. “Please get out of my room, Captain Solo.”
“Okay.” He shrugged, and stood.
It would have been better if he’d argued with her, really. At least when they argued, Leia could hold her own. “What do you want, Captain?”
He took a button from his pocket. “Like I said, Goldenrod thought you might need something. If I’m wrong...”
“Let me see that.” She probably should have said “thank you,” but she couldn’t quite believe it wasn’t a joke.
It was a button, though, and when she held it up to the unfinished poncho, it was just the right size for the hole.
“Where did you get this?” It was cast in offblack metal, with intricate designs that didn’t quite seem to be meaningless—but that also meant absolutely nothing to Leia.
Han shrugged. “Off an old jacket. Piece of junk. Doesn’t fit anymore, anyway. It’s the least I can do. For Luke. You know.”
“Thank you. Han.” Leia surprised herself with the way her own voice softened as she said his first name for what she told herself couldn’t possibly have been the first time.
***
She was woken up by a knock on her door on the morning of her twenty-second birthday.
“Who is it?” She blinked sleep from her eyes. Had she really been up so late sewing on that button?
“It’s Luke.” A pause. “I know it’s early. I’ve got a patrol at oh-seven-hundred and... it’s our birthday. So...”
An unexpected warmth welled up in Leia’s heart. She didn’t think he’d really remember, not with everything else going on.
“Just a second.” She twisted her hair into a bun. It wasn’t quite an Alderaanian updo. But then again, it wasn’t quite down.
Luke was standing there, framed by the door in his flightsuit, grinning shyly at her face, but not quite her eyes. “I got you something,” he said. “It’s not much, but...”
Leia laughed. “I got you something too.”
She ran to her bedroom and pulled the first poncho—Luke’s poncho—over her shoulders. The one she’d made was folded and wrapped; she took it from under her bed.
“You first,” Luke said.
“No, you first.”
“Let’s open them at the same time.”
Leia nodded—“Okay.”—and slid her fingernail under the lid of the tiny cargo box that Luke had used for wrapping.
When she saw what was in it, she thought her heart had stopped. She almost surprised herself by breathing.
“This is...” It was Alderaanian blown glass. A pendant, with a leather cord threaded through it. A blue that could have only been made by traditional Alderaanian craftsmen. And even though she hadn’t though of that blue, or these pendants—which were mostly sold as souvenirs at spaceport gift shops—for years, it brought sharp but somehow soothing tears to her eyes. “It’s beautiful.”
“I got it from Hobbie,” Luke half-mumbled. “He went there... to Alderaan, once, on some kind of tour. It’s not... it’s not fine art or anything, but.”
Leia wrapped her arms around him. “It’s perfect.”
Luke didn’t hug her back, though. He couldn’t; he was still holding his package.
“We were supposed to open them together,” Leia said, and made a show of not-quite pouting.
So she watched, then, as he undid the ribbon she’d made from scraps of worn-out old uniforms and folded the wrapping—an old scarf suited to climates much warmer than Hoth’s—aside.
“It’s...” Luke stared at the poncho. “Where did you get this?”
Leia felt herself blush. “I made it.”
Luke looked at it, for a very long time, with a face that was unusually unreadable.
“I...” he started. “I don’t know what to say, Leia. Your Highness!” he corrected himself.
“Leia.”
Luke nodded. “Leia.”
For a breathless moment, Leia was sure she had done something wrong—by reminding him of the aunt he had loved, or the planet he’d been glad to leave behind.
But then he smiled, a beautiful Luke smile, that was as bright as both the suns of Tatooine, and he wrapped the poncho up around his shoulders. “You’re right. It is warm,” he said.
Leia pulled her necklace over her head—a warm bit of Alderaan, up against her heart, only the leather cord an anomaly.
She fingered it. “Where did you get this?” she asked. “It can’t be original. These were always...”
Luke flushed, as if he were embarrassed at having replaced the original chain. “It was broken,” he said. “I know it’s not perfect, but Han had this cord lying around on the Falcon.”
Han. Leia looked at the button. “Han,” she whispered. “I should have known.”
“Commander Skywalker?” Luke’s comlink buzzed to life, and he ran a sheepish hand through his mop of hair.
“I have to go.”
“Of course.” Leia kissed him on the cheek—wishing she had done more, glad she hadn’t. “Thank you. And may the Force be with you.”
“You too.”
And again, he was gone.
***
“Threepio?”
“Yes, Master Luke?”
“I’ve got a job for you.”
“Of course, sir. How may I be of service?”
“Do you know what this says?”
Luke held up the button, the one on the poncho that Leia had given him that definitely wasn’t from Tatooine.
“I’m afraid it doesn’t say anything sir. It is not a language as recognized by my programming.”
“But does it mean anything?”
Threepio paused, looking from Luke to the button as if... surprised, maybe, to be asked such a question. Or maybe just surprised Luke didn’t know.
“Why of course, sir! That is a Corellian medallion, typically worn by young men on the occasion of their coming of age. I could be mistaken...” And here he hesitated. “But I do believe that this particular one was once worn by Captain Solo.”
Luke rolled the button over in his fingers, let his fingers trail up, over Leia’s seams.
And then he let himself sink into the poncho. It did make the Hoth nights bearable, after all.
