my personal good things of 2023 list
woooohooo let’s go!!
POKEMON SCARLET POKEMON SCARLET!!!!! I clocked so many hours into this game, it was such a delight to play at the beginning of the year
I had my blog’s 10th anniversary!! Thank you to everyone who’s been with me on this journey! It’s been awesome getting to hang out with a bunch of people like me
survived catching covid 😫 it was so painful and miserable but I got through it y’all
I binged RWBY after putting it off for so many years and it was incredible!! I love it so much, and the songs pretty much took over my brain and playlists for the rest of the year
In April, I went on a trip to the Philippines to visit family. I also took a side trip to South Korea! I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of new things. I even flew home by myself for the first time ever
I cut my hair short while I was away and it was probably the best and most Gender haircut I’ve ever gotten
After that, I binged The Good Place with my dad and it’s now one of my fav shows ever…it’s such a fun concept that they really did a good job of playing with
I also caught up on the One Piece manga finally??? Who am I
Speaking of One Piece, the live action was actually really cool!! I love how heartfelt it was, as a love letter to the original
July 18th was khx’s 10th anniversary holy shiiiiit…the game that started it all. The one I hold near and dear to my heart forever and ever
I’m so proud of the improvement I’ve made with my art. I left my comfort zone and tried new things, and I could really see the results. I had a good time making a lot of pieces and I can’t wait to make more stuff next year :)
Speaking of stuff, I finished so many creative projects this year!! I wrote my Ephemera essay, returned to a handful of old ideas and sketches to complete them, finished 2 fics and currently in the process of writing another, made an insane amount of OCs in the Ephemera bloodline project, made KHUXDR told in disney songs, and even made my first ever animatic. I even made memes that ended up being hits and sold some stuff from my ko-fi shop. I’m proud of it all ❤️
Missing Link news at last YIPPEEE!!!! No joke, the trailer and beta inspired me so much. My heart goes crazy thinking about how amazing this game is gonna be and I can’t wait for it to come out (hopefully in April or May maybe?)
I read the most amount of books I’ve ever read in one year. I’ve been watching Jack Edwards’ youtube videos and they’ve motivated me to pick up lots of really great books, but also just read more in general. I used to read a lot as a kid, and for my undergrad. Now it just feels good to read for my own enjoyment, at my own pace
I think I cooked and baked more in general too. I like having the time to make my own elaborate meals, it’s pretty therapeutic
My friend who works at a shoe museum invited me to a Halloween party and it was so fun, the vibes were immaculate
I got a new phone hooray!!!! Now my battery doesn’t die a quarter through the day and I’m ready for ML
Made some great progress on my Christmas village. I got my hands on several new additions that are so cute! I’ll be giving them makeovers for next year
As mentioned earlier, I’ve been working on my new fic Overmorrow…I think it’s my fav fic now ☺️
Plus a whole lot more I inevitably forgot to mention…✨
Overall, this year was full of trying new things and leaving my comfort zone. I wanna do more next year and keep growing and thriving with the people I love!! Cheers to a happy 2024! 🥂

*great British bakeoff voice* It’s album week!
(17/08/2021) (Solar Institute Bulletin No. 5) (From New York City)
Tumblr media
Tapestry by Jean Lurçat
Hello my sweets. I can’t quite believe it — the 20th is almost upon us. Three days from now, Solar Power will be yours. I’m not gonna get mushy, I’ll be saving that for the inevitable MUSHY ALBUM DAY BULLETIN, but I will say that at the moment I’m feeling the classic pre-album cocktail of fragile and psyched and shy at all times. This album took thousands of hours and a zillion units of personal growth to make and it’s starting to hit me. Moving on... It is my cosmic pleasure to share MOOD RING with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
I realised I had to write this song late last year — I kept waking up in the night and writing lines of lyric into my phone, which is how I usually know something’s gonna become a song. It was really interesting distilling some thoughts on wellness culture and the search for spiritual meaning in our modern world into a 3-minute pop song. The kind of challenge she likes best! Part of why this album was so FUN to make was that I got to explore these tropes of people seeking wellness, enlightenment or even utopia. The person who welcomes you to the island in Solar Power video is one, the dude in Dominoes is another, and now we can add this little lady to the mix. I didn’t name her, but you should go hard. I’ll say it once and then never again: this is satire. She is not me. :-) It goes without saying I feel tons of empathy for this character. It was never my intention to fully flame her, although I don’t let her off the hook. We’re living through wild times, and it’s tough to begrudge anyone the methods they employ to feel sane, questionable though they may be. Something like a mood ring represented a sort of magical thinking, the same kind I dip into when I get my aura photographed, or try and bend my horoscope to my will — when I just need to believe something in a moment to feel good or clear. And deep down, I DO feel cozy and connected when someone asks me to ======set an intention for my practise===== at that start of a Pilates class, you know? Maybe you recognise elements of this character in yourself — I certainly sprinkled some things in that came straight from my life. Literally sprinkled… see chia seeds. Anyway I hope you love this song and video— I’m really proud of them both. PS This video was soooo relaxing to shoot, I can’t even tell you… I felt like I had had a spa day by the end. Eerie soothing case in point!!!
Tumblr media
I’m deeply indebted to many sources of inspo here — this great piece  by Jia on optimisation, this also great piece by my friend Tess on crystal provenance, the general realisation that many wellness practises adopted by white women have rough consequences for indigenous peoples, every drink that looks like this, every little dropper bottle full of expensive black liquid that claims to “detoxify”, the Daily Mail, Erewhon, and of course the ultimate mood ring, my iP***e. Other fun stuff that has happened that you’ve probably seen by now— this NYT diary of a song on SP, along with these beautiful photos by Justin J Wee (who had a Team lyric tattoo and didn’t tell me, way to bury the lede Justin!!!) I wanted to show you the music box - obviously don’t look at this if you don’t want to see any of the art - but i figured it might help to have it explained. It’s sooo cool. (We’ve put together a few limited run merch pieces made by NZ makers I love, and you’ll only be able to access these if you’ve purchased the music box. I’m working on these with different makers all the time— expect these to pop up sporadically in the next year. There’ll also be a few exclusive merch designs in there. Regular merch (including some hot hot hot new designs) will all available thru my site.) Also I finally got my hands on a deluxe vinyl — holyyyyy shiiiiit, you are gonna freak. By far the best vinyl I’ve ever ever made. Massive thanks to my designer Hassan and his team who murdered this. Ophelia’s reaction was very cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My goodness, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these emails you send touch me VERY DEEPLY! Don’t know what I did to deserve such sweet, sensitive thoughtful people in my life. I’m replying to a few emails direct when I can. Firstly, we need to give SCWWTS Kyra props for this INCREDIBLE crocheted SP bag! Like what Kyra!! I’m so impressed.
Tumblr media
SCWWTS Matthew sent a lovely thoughtful email pointing out some of the linguistic connections between songs — lines like ‘half of my wardrobe is on your bedroom floor’ and ‘got a memory of waiting in your bed wearing only my earrings’ — he asked “Are these bonds/connections/evolutions between your songs — now spanning three albums/eras and almost a decade — intentionally crafted, or is it more of a spiritual, subconscious thing?” Great question Matthew, they’re almost always intentional. I really love building in those little links and connections between past eras, and I try to be really careful and intentional with how I use language in songs. For example, there’s a moment on Solar Power I rework the ‘every perfect summer’ line from Liability — which invokes the original source while giving it new meaning for a new life stage. And those two lines you mentioned were actually set in the same bedroom. You clever thing. SCWWTS Declan and SP share a birthday, which is delicious to me!! Happy Birthday, Declan! I’ll be thinking of you and sweet Hamish on the day. SCsWWTS Felix and Nuria both asked what my favourite nail polish colour is. For a very long time I’ve gotten a shade called Oxblood on my toes. I’m also preferential to a deep, rich brown. I went to a nail salon the other day and realised, ‘Oh, I’ve totally fucked this for myself, I’m gonna be getting these weird looks from people when I’m getting pedicures for the rest of my life.’ It’s lit! SCWWTS Chris wants to know if I have any interest in learning a language. It’s funny you ask that, Chris, because that’s since crept in as a bit of an upcoming goal. I’m keen to improve my te reo Māori, and I’d also love to learn Spanish one day! I still don’t have my license tho, so…. Maybe that first, Ella? SCWWTS Sofía wrote, “The tall buildings and nice people of Mexico City are all I have ever know and leaving them behind, even if it could be just for a while, is frightening to me. Do you have any advice to jump head first into new adventures? I would love to hear your thoughts”. Sofía, I struggle with this myself. I find new places and people very stimulating and if I’m not in the right headspace, they can overwhelm me. My therapist gave me a really great way to frame this once, though — she said something along the lines of “This discomfort is a feeling you exchange for getting to live a bright, full life. In going out past your depth, metaphorically speaking, you are making a commitment to being as alive as you possibly can.” I hope that helps. I guess that’s all? Here’s a photo of me typing this mailer.

A Black Wind Howls Chapter 3: The Fight
A/N: I hate finals and am glad that I'm done with them. Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone!
By the way, if you haven't noticed by now I decided to give all the chapters titles. A chapter that follows the events of an original ATLA name will share its title, but original chapters will have original names.
Also, in case anyone was curious, my mental image of Lhamo is that she looks and sounds like Scorpia from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, except not a scorpion and with black hair. Meanwhile, I may or may not have thought of Old Toph from TLoK a little when writing Tsering. To be honest, though, I don't really have any one character to point to for Dorji, aside from the in-universe comparison between her and Aang (though it might be more accurate to say she looks like a mix between Toph and Aang, just nobody's seen Toph yet and therefore cannot make that comparison). As for personality, according to TVTropes she might be described as a Rei Ayanami Expy, though I haven't seen Neon Genesis Evangelion so I can't say for sure if that's the best comparison. And just a little fun fact, despite being currently the shortest member of the Gaang (roughly 3'11, and I found a thing that says that Aang is 4'6, Katara is 4'9, and Sokka is 4'11, though it wasn't exactly official so it might be slightly off) she is the second oldest, being a few months older than Katara. Assuming you count Aang as 12 and not 112.
oOoOo
Previously on Avatar...
The firebender that the girl had hit shakily got back up and punched at the airbender's back. Only a puff of smoke came from his fist.
"My name is Dorji. I'm an airbender."
"The power of airbending may have survived through my family line, but unfortunately the spirit of the Air Nomads lives on only through you." Aang winced at that comment.
"Should you really be stealing moon peaches?" Aang asked her in a slightly accusatory tone.
Dorji shrugged. "Not stealing."
Lhamo gasped and hugged the three. "Dorji has friends her age!"
"Is that you, Tsering?" Aang asked.
Tsering grimaced. "I survived."
At some point Katara had shifted in her sleep, ending up with her arm hooked around Dorji's waist. Judging from the red glow dusting her cheeks and ears Dorji had some very conflicting feelings about this. "Shiiiiit..." she muttered softly.
Aang simply couldn't sleep.
oOoOo
Aang and Dorji, both very tired, grunted at each other sleepily when they met in the hall, both rubbing their eyes. "Couldn't sleep?" Aang asked.
"Couldn't sleep..." Dorji nodded after a few moments, like she hadn't heard Aang at first. While Aang had fully opened his eyes, Dorji's were still half-closed drowsily.
"I kinda stayed up all night thinking. You?"
Dorji's cheeks turned a nice shade of pink. "...Also thinking." After a silence that could have been either her insomnia-addled brain trying to think or just her having dozed off for a bit she said, "Actually could you please put your hand on my stomach?"
"What? Why?" Aang asked.
Dorji's blush returned. "I'm... curious about something."
"Oookay..." Aang looked at her weird, but carefully placed his hand on her stomach. "Why?"
Dorji grabbed Aang's arm and twirled around so that his arm ended up hooked around her waist. "Hmm... Nothing..." she muttered as she leaned on Aang's shoulder.
"What are you doing?" Aang asked.
Dorji released his arm and started walking away. "Checking something." She sniffed the air. "Smells like Lhamo made breakfast. Let's go." She walked away before Aang could ask her more questions. Aang sighed and followed her down the hall.
"Hey, Lhamo," Dorji muttered when she walked into the dining room, turning her head slightly to face her cousin who was currently placing food on the table. Katara and Sokka were seated at the table, eating.
"Hey, what'sh up!" Sokka said in between chewing. "You two are up late!"
"Sokka, please don't talk with food in your mouth," Katara scolded.
"Itsh sho good, though!"
Lhamo smiled. "Thank you! I made it myself!"
Dorji stared at Sokka, seemingly deep in thought. Sokka swallowed. "Something wrong?" he asked.
Dorji jumped, sailing through the air to land gently on Sokka's lap, causing him to squawk in alarm. She forced his free arm around her waist. "Ew. Weird," she muttered.
"One of us is weird here and it isn't me," Sokka objected. He put down his food and picked Dorji up, placing her in the seat next to him. Dorji started snoring despite sitting up. "She is weirdly light. Is that an airbender thing?"
Lhamo rushed over to Dorji. She placed one hand on her shoulder and the other over her forehead. "Dorji are you okay? Have you been eating well?"
Dorji grunted lazily and touched the thumb of her open hand to her chest and then her chin, then started snoring again.
Lhamo put some food in front of her. "Still, you need to eat."
Dorji made a small noise, but started eating. She made another sign after a few bites of food, then stopped eating.
"Ya gotta eat more, kid," Tsering said as she entered the room. "You're worried about your dad, right?"
Dorji sniffed and nodded after a few moments.
Tsering sighed and sat down next to her, facing her despite the fact that her eyes were closed. "I am too, kid. You have to eat, though. I remember, back when I'd just escaped the massacre, I couldn't bring myself to eat at all. It... wasn't good for my health. Felt like I was floating all the time, nearly passed out a lot. Think I did pass out a few times. Remember dreaming about everything being upside-down or something... Where was I?" Dorji touched her thumb to her forehead. "Right, your father. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he busted out of prison and assassinated the Fire Lord or some of his generals, or simply razed their capitol to the ground. He can take care of himself. Now eat."
Dorji nodded and started eating again, ignoring Aang, Katara's bewildered stares from what Tsering had said about her son.
oOoOo
"Goodbye, everyone!" Lhamo said with a wave as Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Dorji boarded Appa. "It was nice meeting you all! Take care of Dorji!"
"Goodbye, Lhamo," Dorji said.
"Thanks for the pie!" Sokka shouted.
"Speaking of pie," Tsering said as she walked into the clearing, followed by a few workers bearing a box, a few sacks, and a few tubes. "I have a few gifts for you all." Despite not moving her hands from where they were clasped behind her back, the packages started floating in bubbles of air and were loaded onto Appa. "One of those is the rest of the pie from last night. Eat it before it goes bad. Those bags contain some of our produce, freshly picked." She smiled and stroked Appa's fur. "I'm sure between the sky bison and the three growing teenagers, you'll need them."
"Thanks!" Aang said. "We'll be sure to use them."
Tsering chuckled. "That's not even the thing I figured you'd like the most. The scroll tubes contain, among other things, copies of genuine Air Nomad scrolls."
Aang's eyes widened. He grabbed one of the tubes, one with the Air Nomad sigil on it, and with shaking hands carefully opened it. He reverentially pulled out a pristine scroll that also had the Air Nomad sigil on it. He unfurled it, revealing instructions for advanced airbending techniques. His eyes welled with tears and he quickly rolled the scroll up and put it back before wiping his eyes. "Y-you..."
The old woman smirked at him. "Figured you'd like that. I may not have been too cut out for the whole monk life, but I'm still an Air Nomad. I decided a while back to preserve as much of Air Nomad culture as I could, hopefully for future generations but at the very least to preserve records of my people." She chuckled. "Made a bit of name for myself in the field of anthropology as a result."
"And you're just giving these to me?" Aang asked.
She shrugged. "As I said, they're copies. I made sure to put the originals in safe hands, so don't worry too much if you lose them."
"What are the other scrolls?" Katara asked.
"I also wrote down some techniques Wangchuck and I made that Dorji might want to refresh herself on. And you might want to learn some of those, Aang." Aang looked a little uncomfortable when she said that. "Just a suggestion, kid. There's also some stuff on Air Nomad culture in there that I thought you might like, plus some recipes in case you want something from home. Aside from that, there are a few scrolls on bending the other elements that I've managed to obtain. Figured that as the Avatar you might have more use for those than me. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get much more than theory for fire and water, especially because Wangchuck never fucking told me where he put his scrolls, but it's better than nothing, huh?" She smiled at Katara. "Plus I figure you might appreciate it too, Katara. You are a waterbender, are you not?"
Katara nodded. "Thank you."
"I also managed to find a scroll on healing with waterbending. It's not anything you can use in a fight but, well..." Tsering rolled up her sleeve, revealing a faded but still slightly visible burn scar. "Let's just say I speak from experience when I say that healers are the kind of thing that are always great to have around. I'll try to find practical waterbending scrolls to get to you."
Katara bowed. "You've already given us a lot. I'll try to work with what you've given me already."
Tsering shrugged. "Don't worry about it, I've got enough connections that I should be able to get you a few scrolls eventually."
"That stuff's cool and all, I guess, but I don't suppose you have anything I can use?" Sokka asked.
She nodded. "Fair enough. It might not be quite your fighting style, but there are also a few scrolls on chi blocking in there. The art was originally developed by nonbenders to give them an edge against benders. Dorji can teach the basics to you, if you want. And finally, I added in a few scrolls on Earth Kingdom Sign Language."
"Is that that weird hand thing Dorji was doing earlier?" Sokka asked.
Dorji winced and Katara glared at Sokka.
Tsering stared at him flatly. "Little rude to phrase it like that, but yeah. It's good for sneaking around because you have to be pretty fucking bad at it to make noise while doing it. And while it's not my place to tell you why, Dorji sometimes prefers talking in it so it'd be for the best if at least one of you learned enough of it to hold a conversation."
"Thank you, Grandmother," Dorji muttered shyly.
"Right, you all should leave now. Goodbye, Dorji and Aang." She waved them off with a smile.
"What about us?" Sokka asked as Appa started to rise.
She shrugged. "Yeah, I suppose you too." Despite being far away from them at this point and not speaking up at all, her voice traveled perfectly to them.
oOoOo
Aang touched Appa down in a large forest clearing so they could rest for the night. He patted Appa on the head before jumping back onto the saddle. "All right, buddy. Let's see what Tsering got you." He was a little woozy from lack of sleep, but hopefully they'd be sleeping soon so he didn't say anything about it.
Dorji jumped off of Appa and pointed at the ground by his side, making a small circle with her pointing finger. A small cloud of dust kicked up where she pointed. "I'll cushion your fall," she offered.
"Thanks!" Sokka said, then jumped down. When he hit the dust cloud his fall slowed and he fell on his ass with a yelp.
"Sorry," Dorji muttered. She moved her hand to the right slightly, and the dust cloud moved to where she was pointing. She widened her circles, causing the dust cloud to grow larger and wider. "This one should be better, hopefully."
Katara jumped. She also lost her balance when she hit the cloud, but Dorji quickly stepped forward and caught her.
"Thank you," Katara said.
"Y-you're welcome," Dorji said, blushing slightly. She immediately let go of her and stepped back a bit.
"Thanks for catching me, too," Sokka deadpanned as he got up.
"You're welcome," Dorji said.
He looked at her flatly.
Dorji tilted her head and blinked. "Was that sarcasm?" she asked.
Sokka sighed. "Yes, that was sarcasm," he said exasperatedly.
"Ah," she said. She looked a little nervous for some reason. "I'm sorry, I... have trouble with detecting tone, sometimes."
Katara glared at Sokka yet again. "How was I supposed to know that!?" Sokka snapped at Katara.
Katara sighed. "Sorry, you do have a point there. Is there anything else we should be aware of, Dorji?"
Dorji eyes widened. She blushed and gave Katara a very appreciative smile. "I... Sometimes I have... problems processing sounds. It's not too bad anymore, I hope anyway, but please be patient if I need you to repeat things," she muttered.
Katara nodded. "Okay. Is that why your grandmother said you sometimes prefer to use sign language?"
She bit her lip. "It's... part of it. I would also prefer if you faced me while speaking to me, for similar reasons. I can read lips, in case I'm having trouble with hearing."
"How do you read lips?" Sokka asked.
"Lots of practice. Start by looking at lips."
Sokka shrugged. "Fair enough."
Aang jumped off of Appa's saddle after putting the bag of apples he was feeding Appa back. "What're you guys talking about?" he asked.
Katara gave Dorji a look, as if asking her if it was okay to tell him. Dorji nodded to her. "Dorji was telling us about how she has a few... issues with hearing."
"Oh, is that what the sign language was for?" he asked.
Dorji nodded. "I can hear, but I have trouble processing sounds sometimes, if that makes sense," she clarified.
Aang nodded. "I remember one of the boys I grew up with, Dema, had an issue like that too." His face fell. "Dema..."
"I apologize," Dorji said.
"For what?"
Dorji fidgeted. "I... brought up a memory. One that must be painful for you."
Aang shook his head. "No, you didn't even know that'd remind me of Dema."
"Would... would you like something to take your mind off of it?" she offered.
"Thanks!" He smiled at her. "What do you have in mind?"
"If you're going to be fighting the Fire Nation, you need combat skills. Traditional airbending may have had martial arts, but they were mostly restricted to evasion, disengaging, and defense," she explained. She unsheathed one of her daggers and swiped it at a tree off to her side, not even breaking her gaze with Aang. A blade of wind rushed from her blade, slicing a deep gash in the ground as it kicked up a large cloud of dust and slicing the tree almost in half vertically when it hit it. "All of that is good, but you might be a bit lacking in your offensive capabilities, decisively ending a fight." She spun her dagger, then sheathed it. "Shall we begin?"
"I don't feel comfortable with that," Aang said nervously.
"Why not?"
Aang clenched his hands, a sour expression on his face. "That's... That's not airbending."
"Um... Aang?" Sokka put his hand on his shoulder. "Maybe..."
Aang forced his hand off. "No. That's not airbending."
"It is, though," Dorji rebutted. "Well, some of the moves I intend to teach you don't need airbending, but for the one I just showed you? Doing it requires you to stream air along a thin surface, like my daggers or your staff. It might be a little hard at first if you haven't done anything like that, but-"
"That's not what I mean!" Aang shouted. "You're doing it all wrong!"
Dorji sighed. "It's not wrong. Just... different. I understand that it might be upsetting to see such a different style from what you're used to, but... it's not wrong."
"It goes against all of airbending culture!" Aang shouted.
"Aang..." Katara said.
Dorji frowned slightly. "I see. You know, I had always been fascinated with grandmother's scrolls and books about the Air Nomads. Part of it was just that reading was... nice... for me, I will admit, but..." She turned away from Aang and walked a few steps away from him. She stood there for a few seconds, then sniffled and wiped her face. When she turned back around her eyes were a little red. "For a while, I wanted to be like them. They were my people, my ancestors. But at the same time, I was always worried a true Air Nomad would despise me, as I am still my father's daughter, and my father was not a traditional Air Nomad. Thank you for confirming it for me. I told you before, the pacifistic monks of the past died out a century ago. I'm not an Air Nomad. I was never an Air Nomad." She touched one of the green highlights of her clothing. "I was born of the Earth Kingdom. I was raised by the Earth Kingdom. Why should I call myself an Air Nomad?"
Aang's face contorted in anger, then softened slightly. "Fine." He turned around and walked away.
"Fine," Dorji echoed. She pulled the two halves of her father's staff from her belt and started walking towards a large rock.
Sokka and Katara sighed at the same time. "I'll talk to Aang, do you want to talk to Dorji?" Sokka asked.
"That sounds good," Katara agreed.
"Cool." Sokka started climbing back onto Appa, struggling a bit. "Let me just... get something... real quick."
While Sokka was doing that, Katara walked over to Dorji. Wielding the two halves of her father's staff like dual swords due to how long they were compared to her, Dorji swung at the rock with one segment. A wide gash appeared in it despite the fact that the staff never made contact with it. She swung with the other segment, creating a second gash. Next she slashed both, deepening and widening both of the gouges she'd made. She quickly put the two halves of the staff together and started twirling it with insane speed. The wind in the area picked up, and dust clouds flowed towards her staff. She jumped back and threw the staff at the boulder. The spinning staff cut cleanly through the boulder, grinding it in half with little resistance. After it was on the other side Dorji held her hand out to it. The staff shot back, pulverizing the upper half to smaller rocks with pure windy force. Dorji caught the staff and swung it, blowing all the rocks and dust away. She used the momentum of the swing to turn around, jabbing the end of the staff a few inches away from Katara's throat. Tears streamed down the shorter girl's face, and her hands were trembling. The air stilled again.
Katara slowly put her hand on Dorji's shoulder. The airbender stiffened a little, but didn't resist. Katara smiled at her and slowly lowered Dorji's staff with her other hand before pulling her in for a hug. Dorji dropped the staff and started sobbing. "W-why?" she asked. Katara let her go, and she rubbed her eyes. "Why can't I go a day without crying?"
Katara sat down on the remaining part of the boulder, which had conveniently been cut and smoothed into a serviceable, if a little tall, bench by Dorji's practice. She patted a spot next to her and smiled at Dorji, inviting her to sit next to her. Dorji hesitated, but slowly sat down. She tilted her head slightly to Katara, staring at her.
"When my mother died... It was hard on all of us. And the first few days were the hardest. But... it does get easier. And I'm sure I speak for Sokka as well as myself when I say that we will both be here for you when you need a shoulder to cry on." She sighed. "And I'd have hoped that I could say the same of Aang, but now I'm not sure..."
Dorji whimpered.
Katara scowled. "To be honest, I didn't think Aang would blow up like that. I mean, he was a little touchy when he saw what happened to his old temple, but I thought that that was just from seeing the remains of someone he knew..."
Dorji winced. "Did I... some of the things I told Aang must have hurt him. I should apologize." She tried to get up, but Katara put her hand on her shoulder.
"Don't. I think he should apologize first. He's hurting, yes, but he has no right to take that out on you."
Dorji leaned on Katara. She didn't say anything else, but Katara hugged her.
oOoOo
Aang sighed. He sat at the edge of a small lake near where they had landed, prodding at the water with some attempts at waterbending. "Maybe I shouldn't have..."
Sokka slapped him on the back of his head, then sat down next to him. "Yeah, you really shouldn't have." His tone was annoyed.
"I'm so-"
Sokka slung his arm around Aang's back, clamping his hand on his shoulder. "No. You're gonna listen. You lost your people and found out the world crumbled after you left. I can't even imagine how horrible that feels. But." He tightened his grip. "If you even begin to think that gives you a right to dump all that out on a girl you just met, who recently lost her father, that's unforgiveable. Imagine if some old friend of that one monk guy you were fond of... Gyatso, I think, came out of nowhere and told you that you weren't fit to be the Avatar, or even an Air Nomad. That's what you just did to Dorji."
Aang sighed. "You're right. I should never have said that. I... I'm sorry."
Sokka patted his shoulder. "I'm not the one you should be apologizing to, buddy. And first... maybe we should talk a bit. You've got a few issues to work out, clearly."
Aang looked down. "I... I miss them."
"Yeah, that's pretty natural. But what made you lash out at Dorji like that?"
He sighed. "I guess... I'm sure she's not trying to, but she always seems to... remind me they're gone. That I was gone for a hundred years, and my people are long gone." He sniffed and rubbed his eyes. "But... I should never have taken it out on her."
Sokka patted his back. "You know, I know I always complained about the lack of meat and everything, but... If you want to make a traditional Air Nomad dish or something, I'd totally be willing to help." He grinned. "And I'm sure Dorji would, too. But first you gotta apologize to her." He pulled out a scroll. "And I have an idea of something you can do for that."
oOoOo
Dorji had fallen asleep, resting with her head on Katara's shoulder. Katara smiled and stroked her hair gently, as not to wake her. Sokka walked up to her, Aang trailing sheepishly behind.
"I hope you're here to apologize," Katara glared at Aang.
Aang shrank back slightly. "Yeah, I... Shouldn't have taken my feelings out on Dorji." He got out from behind Sokka and faced Dorji. "Dorji, I want to apologize to you," he said, raising his voice to try to wake her up. "My suffering was no excuse for what I said to you. And I was wrong, you may be other things, but you are an Air Nomad, too!"
Dorji, perhaps due to her hearing impairment that she had yet to fully explain to the others, did not react at all to this.
"Maybe you should wait until she wakes up, Aang?" Sokka said.
He nodded. "Right, sorry. Should... should we wake her up or..."
Dorji stirred, then sat up and started rubbing her eyes. "Sorry, did someone try to wake me? You'll need to shake me awake, shouting won't work..." She noticed Aang and stiffened slightly. "R-right. Y-you..." She bit her lip.
Aang placed his hand, a loose fist, on his chest and made a small circular motion with it. The sign, as best he understood the EKSL scroll, for 'sorry.' "I'm sorry," he said, as sincere and contrite as possible. "You reminded me of what I've lost, and I couldn't take that and lashed out at you. But that's not an excuse for how I acted towards you. I understand if you don't forgive me. For what it's worth, you are a real airbender." He smiled. "You are airbending culture, as much as I am. And you have every right to call yourself an Air Nomad."
Dorji sniffed. She rubbed her face, but a few tears fell onto her shirt still. "Th-thank you. And... f-for what it's worth... I'm sorry for hurting you, even if it was unintentional. I'll... I'll try to be more mindful of what I say in the future."
Aang smiled at her. "Thanks. If you want, you could show me that one airbending move. I don't think I'll ever use it on a person, but if I need to cut down a lot of trees really fast I could use it for that?"
She smiled slightly. "Actually... I think I know another move that my grandmother made that might... suit your tastes slightly better. When used on a trained warrior, especially a firebender due to how firebenders train their lungs, it will never cause any lasting damage. And at the same time, it will temporarily disable the person you use it on, especially if they are a firebender."
Aang hugged her. "That sounds great! And later, I can show you some airbending moves of my own!"
Dorji backed up nodded when Aang released her. "I'd like that. But first..." She got into a fighting stance and took a deep breath. "The best way to explain this is with a demonstration. And the best way for you to learn how to do it is to experience it yourself. But I will not do it without your permission, as it can feel... unpleasant."
"Um, is this a good idea?" Sokka asked.
Aang nodded. "Do it. Is there anything I should be paying attention to?"
"Your breath." In a blur, Dorji was suddenly standing inches away from Aang. She paused for just long enough for Aang to focus on her, a rush of wind punctuating her stop, then jabbed him in the solar plexus with two fingers. The amount of force she put into the physical movement was negligible, but Aang still toppled backwards as he felt his lungs empty against his will. He struggled on the ground for a few seconds, finding it hard to regain his stolen breath. Eventually he coughed and shakily took the hand that Dorji had offered him at some point.
"Are you okay, Aang?" Katara asked.
"Gimme... a minute..." he said between pants, a pained grimace on his face as his breathing slowly returned to normal.
"Sorry, I should've mentioned it can be... unpleasant." Dorji said, taking a few steps away from Aang and the others. She looked nervous again.
"No, it's fine," Aang assured her. He chuckled. "I probably should've guessed it wouldn't feel too good, anyway. Still, I can see what you were getting at. And you're sure it doesn't hurt people you use it on?"
She nodded. "Unless you use it on the same person multiple times in a row without letting them breathe, or use it on someone with weak lungs. But a trained soldier should be fine, and the technique will let you take them out of a fight for a few seconds at least, as well as open them up to a finishing move. And most notably, it temporarily disables firebending."
"It disables firebending!?" Sokka parroted, incredulous.
Dorji nodded. "Grandmother made the technique with some principals involved in chi blocking, after performing some... research on firebending." She breathed deeply, in and out, and when she exhaled her breath was very warm. "In fact, she learned that the breathing techniques the Air Nomads used to keep themselves warm in even the coldest of weather were originally based on knowledge given to them by firebenders. Firebending does not come from muscles, but rather the breath. So a technique that disrupts a firebender's ability to breathe..."
"Also disrupts firebending," Sokka finished. "That's... that's amazing!"
"It only lasts a minute or so at best, but it will still throw a firebender off," Dorji continued explaining. "And a master of it can do it from a distance, or even without moving at all, or at least my father and grandmother can. If you need more guidance to learn it, Aang, ask me. But..." Dorji turned to Sokka. "Perhaps you would like to learn chi blocking? You seemed pleased with the concept of disrupting firebending. And it can do more than just disable bending for a few seconds."
He grinned. "That sounds awesome!"
She nodded. "Then let us begin." She collapsed, but still somehow managed to hit the ground lightly. "Tomorrow. I'm tired." She closed her eyes, already asleep.

holy shiiiiit i just watched Joker and i can’t stop thinking about it. i also just watched AHS Cult but one thing at a time. also i’m very attracted to joaquin phoenix and evan peters now. well i was already attracted to evan peters, and might i add, i liked him when he was spongebob in sleepover!!! lmao tbt to 2004  *spoilers alert*  i went into Joker expecting interesting commentary on mental health, which i know is very vague in retrospect, but this movie touches on so many things. it shows you the crumbling of a broken man — it’s cringey, but intentionally so, and hard to watch at times. it made me uncomfortable, but i think it was supposed to. pheonix’s performance was amazing, of course. i just watched Her last week so i could compare his performances and he’s just so good.  i see why there has been some criticism on the portrayal of mental illness. i think it was portrayed properly, his character clearly has a medical condition, but it’s easy to associate that with his lashing out violently. but that was inspired by his being fired from his job and everyone being so rude and mean to him and his mother dying, etc. there were many factors that went into his decision to lash out violently. the world kept beating him up, kicking him when he was down. literally and figuratively. the movie at one point even says how can you not go crazy in a world like this? the way things are now and that’s straight up relatable.  i think one of the overarching and recurring themes is toxic masculinity. although it’s not verbalized or directly addressed, you see all these horrible men attacking him in different ways, whether making fun of him for his condition, picking on him and ganging up on him on the subway, the group of boys stealing his sign and contributing to the loss of his job, etc. and after he was jumped, his coworker gives him a gun to protect himself, which may have been with good intentions, but he handed a loaded weapon to a man who was suffering from mental issues and was extremely unstable and volatile... they show you how he was going to state or federally funded therapy sessions and how it gets defunded (powerful and realistic!!!) and then he has nowhere to go and he stops taking his seven medications... it was a recipe for disaster. then when he’s being attacked on the subway he ends up defending himself and killing the three men going after him. then you see the media paint a narrative that’s totally different from reality and you see Joker/Arthur slowly becoming what society is painting him as... which happens a lot but no one talks about it. so the media and the public interpret the attacks as the poor going after “the rich” bc the three men were wall street guys. you see newspaper headlines saying “eat the rich” and stuff and it turns into a whole revolution type of situation where people are rallying in the streets and that’s not what Joker intended at all. but that whole concept of poor vs. rich people is interesting and relevant right now. so the way Joker was modernized was great imo.  then there’s the whole storyline with Bruce Wayne and his parents and how Joker was indirectly responsible for Bruce Wayne’s parents dying bc they were shot by one of the people at the rallies. and you hear about his mother’s former relationship with Bruce Wayne’s father... it’s so interesting!!! i’m not even too familiar with the original storylines and stuff but still. and you see how Joker faces rejection after rejection after rejection. no one shows him any kindness or compassion, not even his biological father, or so he thought. (side note: this makes me think about that security cam footage that came out recently where a school teacher/coach confiscates a shotgun from a volatile student and hugs him and completely quashes a potentially dangerous situation.) so you see Thomas Wayne tell Joker that his mother is “crazy” and he freaks out and i thought about how overused that word has become these days. not sure if that’s what they were going for or not but yeah. and then Joker learns that she actually was delusional and diagnosed as such according to medical documents and that he was actually adopted and all this other stuff which also contributes to his crumbling mental state and eventual violent lash-out. you see how he becomes a man who has nothing left to lose, and no one is more powerful than someone who has nothing left to live for.  so then the scene comes where he shoots and kills robert deniro’s character. personally i wonder if the original plan was a mass shooting but then the filmmakers thought it wouldn’t be in good taste or show-able to the public bc of the state of our country rn, especially bc there was that other movie that was produced fully and ready to screen but canceled bc of public backlash over a mass shooting scene. bc on one hand, yes it might be in bad taste, but we have freedom of speech here and this is art they’re creating. movies have always been commentary on society. bc it would’ve made sense, it was a perfect recipe for someone who would perpetrate a mass shooting. Joker was angry with deniro’s character but also with the public... i think? well he was angry with deniro bc deniro made fun of him by showing a clip of Joker embarrassing himself while trying to pursue a standup comedy career. after seeing all that, i immediately googled interviews with joaquin phoenix to learn more about him and hear about his preparations for the role etc. and he was on Fallon and Kimmel and holy shiiiit it was WEIRD. it was ironic, meta, creepy bc it was so similar to the scene in the movie lol. Kimmel (fuck him) shows a clip of phoenix breaking character and angrily telling off some production ppl on set bc they were distracting him and phoenix is clearly embarrassed and uncomfortable and said it was supposed to be private. and i thought he was gonna shoot Kimmel hahah it was weirdly close to the movie.

I draw a manga/write a light novel series based on that manga, which is essentially an amalgamation of my favorite series and giving some of my favorite characters, who I feel were shafted in their source material, a better ending. That series is called C’est la Vie 5, because it originally featured five fandoms that I LOVED enough to have created an original character for.
Tumblr media
Now, like many people, I’ve created a fuckton of OCs for a fuckton of series. However, unlike, say, Dragonball Z and Pokemon (RIP to Son Mei and Cissy the Eevee breeder), I still use these characters. I am still active in these fandoms. Some of these characters are nearly as old as I am. Some have gone through so many iterations that they’re nearly unrecognizable from their original forms (looking at you, Haruhi, Suzuka, and Kinoko). But they have ALWAYS been there.
C5 the way it is now started as a fun little project in college to help me memorize my Japanese vocabularly. It was a series of one shot or 4koma doodles in the margins of my notebooks, featuring PGSM+Hina. Then the doodles got mutated. I replaced Makoto with an original character named Sun Hwa, who then was replaced with Ayumi Yamada from Honey and Clover. I added in Hagumi Hanamoto from H&C too. Ami was renamed Moeco, and her appearance changed. I ended up splitting Ami in two, because I loved her Dark Mercury arc so much, and ended up with Moeco and Akumi. I added Mio Kuroki but called her Arisa Kuroki, because my Usagi at the time was called Mio. I added Mikasa from Attack on Titan. Misa Amane (named Erika after her actress in the live action). And it spiraled from there. C5 went through a TON of iterations as well over the past ten years. There was a character called Haruhi, but she was from the Haruhi Suzumiya series.
Now it’s pretty ironed out. The cast is so big I’ve split the series into a set of volumes into one big volume, so it doesn’t become Naruto. Each volume has a set of plots, two of which are contained within that volume. It’s pretty easy and I like it.
HINA is a mishmash of three fandoms (two if you count PGSM and Sailor Moon as one fandom). I fell in love with Boys Over Flowers (the Korean version) after discovering the live action Sailor Moon, and had a complete fit the entire time that Jandi chose Junpyo. (WHY, Jandi. WHY. Jihoo was BETTER for you. BETTER!) I had a Korean friend in my Japanese class, and it was at this period that my Makoto doodle was replaced with Sun Hwa (another Korean) and that Hina Kusaka (who is exclusive to PGSM, and whose name I stole for my OC) became Hina Ku (after the actress who played Jandi, not Goo Junpyo). Hina and Sun Hwa had small side conversations in Korean that my friend taught me, while the group as a whole reinforced my Japanese lessons. C5 has plenty of Boys Over Flowers characters (a mix of the Korean, 2019 Chinese, and Japanese versions), but I never made an OC for the series. Hina filled both roles. In PGSM and Sailor Moon I kept her name as Kusaka, but in C5 it’s Ku, and she is a zainichi - Korean-descended. Hina also plays a different role depending on which series I’m using her in. In PGSM, I used her as Sailor Sun. Sailor Sun has been a character I’ve had since I was five years old. She’s changed style and looks considerably over the years, but she’s always been there. In every other iteration of Sailor Moon, I prefer the theory that Naru and Unazuki are Sailors Earth and Sun, and Hina is one of Usagi’s many friends. In the pre-C5 era, she, Usagi, and Erika were part of the 3 Bakas, for their bad grades.
AKIHO is my newest OC and holy shiiiiit I have cleaved to the Persona series hardcore. Rather than create a new OC for each entry in the series (though I may change my mind when Person 6 comes out), Akiho’s look, style, and role in the story changes (I reconcile this to be something akin to Clara Oswald in Doctor Who). In P5, which she was created for, she’s a Phantom Thief. The idea came to me when I learned there has never been a playable character of the Temperance arcana, Hifumi was supposed to be a PT, and the general consensus that Mishima and Shiho should have been PTs. Akiho has been through several iterations herself but her general look is based on Tae Takemi from @scruffyturtles ‘s Adult Confidant AU. Her personality seems very calm and serene, but she is a secret metal head and a huge fan of Eikichi Mishina’s band Gas Chamber. Her PT mask is based off a butterfly. Her role in C5 is a shrine maiden, where she gets along with Rei (Sailor Moon), is the sister of Akira Kurusu (who is a separate person from Ren Amamiya), and the daughter of a pair of mobsters.
KINOKO is my second oldest OC, having been around since I was twelve. Her original name was Cherry (like every other Tokyo Mew Mew OC) and her original animal is lost to the sands of time. Luckily, my favorite animal is a red data animal, so she can be fused with that now! Kinoko has been through so many iterations it isn’t funny. In the TMM world, her hair is an auburn, a dark brown with red undertones, mimicking how some mushrooms (where her name comes from) appear. (It’s a callback to her original name). Her Mew outfit has also changed considerably and I still haven’t settled on it completely. The Mew Mews are not a unit in C5. Zakuro is a model with Ann and dating Minto, Ringo (LOVE Ringo) is a middle schooler who hangs out at an arcade and is best friends with Bu-Ling, Ichigo is a waitress with Berii, Retasu works with Ryou. And Kinoko works at a karaoke bar, chasing troublemakers like Bu-Ling out. She also interacts with the new Au Lait boys.
SUZUKA is also an old OC, her name having originally been Meiling. She’s from Fushigi Yuugi, which I was obsessed with as a child. She’s nearly as old as Kinoko - I was introduced to the series at around the same time. Suzuka’s original role as Meiling was Miaka’s attendant and general Mary Sue, and she was one of my first attempts at exploring fanfiction (along with Kagami the cat demon and Teiten the Thunder Sister from Inuyashs, RIP), because I couldn’t decide which of the original Suzaku warriors I loved most. Everyone had such a wonderfully tragic, lovely backstory, and I needed to give them all blankets and hugs, and Miaka was just a dumbass, okay? (I think I settled on Tasuki. Love me some Tasuki.) Anyway. Suzuka eventually morphed into the Priestess of Kouryuu once I learned that Fushigi Yuugi was based on real Chinese legends, and one legend sometimes included Koryuu, the Yellow Dragon of the Center. (Fun fact: There’s a video game that explores this option, but in it, Kouryuu, is treated as a false god.) In my OC world, Kouryuu is the Great Unifier, only able to be summoned once the first four priestesses have summoned Suzaku, Seiryuu, Byakko, and Genbu, and it is he that will stop the war that threatens the four countries of the Book of the Universe of the Four Gods. In C5, Suzuka works at a bookstore owned by Hifumi Togo that specializes in rare books.
HARUHI is the last old OC, but she’s also new? Haruhi was, for the longest time, existant in a stage of limbo. Fruits Basket was introduced to me as a teenager, when I was about thirteen or fourteen, and I didn’t quiiiite embrace the message, behind it. I couldn’t get past the art style (I was very picky about what I visually consumed back then), I couldn’t get into the anime for the same reason, and I couldn’t quite get past the whole “it’s called Fruits Basket wtf and also they turn into animals? And it’s not a magical girl anime? What in the actual fuck?” But like many things I of course loved the characters, I adored my baby Kyo, and I of course made an OC specifically for him, because I back then did not ship Kyoru (sacriligious, I know). I don’t even remember what Haruhi’s original name was. I just decided that she was a Sohma and the rooster, because the curse of the original rooster was broken, and broke a long time ago, so it was entirely possible for Kyo to have a love interest who was a Sohma and the rooster who was around his age (in my teenage mind). That old Sohma OC, is of course, RIP. I can’t even. And recently, I discovered Fruits Basket Another, and I somewhat resurrected that OC in the form of Haruhi, but as the child of the OG cast. Sawa needs more friends, more protectors, and there’s no tsundere besides Hajime. It always bothered me that Kagura never got any canon love interest or story wrap up after she let go of Kyo, and then in Another she doesn’t have children. :( I love Kagura, so Haruhi is hers! I’m also sad that no one in Another dresses in kimonos when so many in Furuba did (Ritsu, Akito, Shigure, Kazuma, Kunimitsu), so Haruhi dresses in them when she isn’t in school.
KEIKO is special. Not only is she the newest, but she is also the only character exclusive to C5. While the other characters in C5 are based on characters from other fandoms and have their personalities and such shaped by the new series, Keiko is entirely unique. Her name is a combination of the two things that birthed the series: Sailor Moon and Persona 5. Keiko is for Keiko Kitagawa, the actress who played Sailor Mars in PGSM; and Makigami is for Kazuya Makigami, a major character in Persona 5 the Daybreakers. Kazuya is also Keiko’s brother in C5 and he is... not a great person lol. Neither is Keiko. Her appearance is based on how I wear my hair irl and the clothing of Jim Hawking from Outlaw Star, my favorite anime of all time. (I sadly never made an OC for that series. I tried but I am not good at space opera.)
None of the OCs ever cross paths in C5. It would create a temporal paradox and probably result in one of them fainting or dying lol. Since they’re all essentially the same person. Fun fact: I, Ffamran (known in-universe as Bideru the author) also occasionally make cameos, and I also cannot cross paths with the OCs. Luckily Tokyo, where C5 is set, is a very big place.
If you stuck with me through this very long post about OCs, thank you! I just really wanted to go off about them since I’ve been in a writing mood and I’m on volume 2 of C’est la Vie 5 now.

Tumblr media
Y’all I have no idea how to do this, so bear with me on this cause imma just ramble. Also, long post is long, so here’s a readmore (and a gentle reminder I need to CHANGE THE THEME ON BOTH OF MY BLOGS CAUSE OF WHAT IT DOES TO PICTURES UGGHHHHH)(I’ll do that after this)
First off, can I just say Spongebob’s house is so adorable? Especially the curtains, since when did he get those?! It’s odd seeing him so tiny however...
Tumblr media
... and then normal:
Tumblr media
Yes folks, I’m that one binch who nitpicks at tiny animation crap.                       Prepare yourselves.
Tumblr media
I find it interesting that Squidward, of all people, the fucking drama queen that he is, is whining about Spongebob being a crybaby. Like, really dude? Really? Also look at how fabulous he is with his CRoiSsanT. God I love him. But realy quick tho... This episode has a LOT of fucking... tweening. My girlfriend @zeldamaysanartist told me that’s an issue in this season overall, and I’m not really surprised. They’re new to digital still, and won’t be used to it nor have the big fat budget they use and, well, abuse to an extent til like Season 9b I believe? I might be wrong. Yell at me if I’m wrong. But tl;dr: The tweening is so bad. Squid is just being pushed across screen, while being bopped up and down. Like, what gives man? We also see some awful tweening later in the episode, where you can TELL they’re animated in place... and then moved along screen. GROSS!!!
Tumblr media
Anyway, next scene is probably the worst in the episode to me??? I don’t know, I don’t like how Squidward yells at Spongebob like that. I mean, I get it, he’s a dick. Usually I’m the guy to convince some folks that he’s an asshole and all sorts of other negative traits that tend to get tossed away conveniently, but nah this made me fucking uncomfortable and I write this guy. Sorry not sorry, but I’m not a fan of this scene. Thankfully, like ripping off a strong band-aid, it’s over quick and the rest of the episode moves right along.
Tumblr media
Coulda made a 42 joke here, but ya didn’t binch.
ALSO I wanna know why/how Squid got a hold of that montage. Like, what the fuck dude, are you stalking him? Ok ok I’m joking. But. Yeah. Also surprised Spongebob didn’t cry during the montage. He could have. He would have. You know he had the potential to.
Tumblr media
WHIP CRACK DETECTED Y’ALL. OH MAN.
Tumblr media
Also this has to be the cutest interaction in the episode. I just... love when these two display how damn close they are. They didn’t want to get off the phone, aw!!! I live for positive interacts between Spongebob and Patrick, and I can’t stand it when they make an antagonist outta Patrick, ESPECIALLY an antagonist outta Patrick for Spongebob. Bring back the wholesomeness that was season 1 Spongebob and Patrick, cause that was hands down the best version of Patrick in the series so far. I miss that positive relationship. I miss Patrick always looking out for Spongebob and actually meaningfully supporting him despite his shortcomings. I miss when the comedy centered around Patrick was due to his goof ups from his low intelligence, not from him being an outright douchenozzle. See, that was actually funny because you know he didn’t mean it, you know he meant well and, unfortunately, he gets both himself and Spongebob (and sometimes others) into a big fat mess that they have to overcome.
That was funny, genuine, interesting and free of cringe and resentment from the audience. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
Tumblr media
Also everytime Squid smiles like this I. Die. Gonna happen a lot in this episode though. God damn it Spongebob, that sleepover sounds fun! Too bad Squid’s a freakin’ wet blanket.
Tumblr media
NOT EVEN TWO SECONDS. WOULD YOU RELAX? YOU FUCKIN WEAPON.
Tumblr media
LITERALLY TRYING TO TALK ABOUT THE EPISODE OVER HERE. WOULD YOU RE-LAX?
Tumblr media
I’m not even gonna comment on this anymore. I’m literally just going to dump screenshots of this without commentary. The end.
Tumblr media
ANYWAY, moving right along. Now we’re at the part where. Squidward’s just. Casually in Spongebob’s house. I love this. My girlfriend loves this. We both agreed we need more of this.
Tumblr media
It is literally cuter than this, which is pretty damn cute as is.
Tumblr media
Nitpick: Yo why is your tent not wrapped around his shoulder? Bad Squidward.
Tumblr media
Nitpick: JUST RE-WINDED THIS LIKE 5 TIMES. Squidward walks, and basically clips into his standing position. Like. WHAT. No I’m so serious, I swear, it just... skips to his standing pose when he gets from point A to point B. I... wowie. Digital animation has so much potential, but man the hiccups are real.
Tumblr media
     Nitpick: AND AGAIN LMAO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
     This is adorable.
Tumblr media
     Also, was that Bill?
Tumblr media
     I KNEW IT.
This fish is actually him tho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t handle them...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sponge has got such a CUTE lil tea set, and dude Squid. C’mon. You pride yourself as a musician, but you forgot to BREATHE!? Sure he’s probably under pressure and comedy, but c’mon bud. Surprised he didn’t snap poor Clarey again, which explains why it sounds so damn bad.
Tumblr media
I live for times when he holds his tentacles like this. Live.
Tumblr media
I ain’t gonna say shit. I ain’t gonna say shit. I ain’t gonna say shit. I ain’t gonna say shit.
Tumblr media
Squidward’s such a bad liar guys. Damn wow. Damn.
Tumblr media
     I AIN’T GONNA SAY SHIT.
Tumblr media
     LET IT ALL OU-
I AIN’T. GONNA. SAY. SHIIIIIT.
I dunno if I wanna joke about how defeated he looks or say...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
     Art imitates art.
Tumblr media
     My heart, but also
What a drama queen cry baby.
Yeah ok this episode was great in my opinion compared to the rest of Season 7. Lots of good Squidbob TBH, Squid’s in Sponge’s home just casually and I love that. Spongebob’s such a cutie, Spongebob and Patrick have great chemistry on the phone. It’s great. Nothing’s too outrageously cruel except for that one tiny scene, and the only real downside is the delicious early digital animation errors and blatant tweening. Otherwise, this is one of the better episodes for sure out of this season and it gets a nice 8.5/10 would watch again.
