plantdadcas destiel fic rec part 2: electric boogaloo
Hello everyone! I have continued to consume fic at an alarming rate since I made my last large fic rec post, so here is part 2! Again, all fics are canon verse, I don’t read much AU. 50+ below the cut:
GOD TIER FICS/MUST READS
These are all personal favorites that I swear by. Read them or die by my sword (jk... unless?) I listed a lot of these in my last fic rec post, but I thought it would be helpful to compile all my favs in once place! In no particular order:
All Things Shining by askance, 141k. literal masterpiece. canon verse, but has auish mythology. Road trip vibes. Very plotty. Great OC’s. I love this fic, it does NOT get enough credit! this is an all things shining stan account
So Says the Sword by komodobits, 85k. impeccable, masterpiece, prompted the “castiel did you fuck the michael sword?” jokes. alternate season 4. I quite literally have decided to treat this fic as canon in my head. just got to s4 in my rewatch and it TRULY makes s4 hit different. a must read!
Named by RC_McLachlan, 94k, alternate s5. I once saw someone describe this fic as, paraphrasing, blasphemous in a fun sexy way. Plotty, and brave enough to ask: what if we killed Jesus in the supernatural universe?
Dean (and Cas’) Top 13 Zepp Traxx by pantheon_of_discord, 82k. post-series (written in 2017) deancas roadtrip! one of the first fics I read when i got back into fandom and boy oh boy is it a masterpiece.
a turn of the earth by microcomets, 95k, time travel fic where cas on the run gets stuck in pre-series dean’s timeline. cannot say enough about how good this fic is! an instant classic for me. time travel fics imo are pretty hit or miss, but this one is flawlessly executed!
Tall Grass by aeli_kindara, 57k, post series written in 2017. LISTEN, if you follow my blog (or just read my URL) you KNOW how obsessed I am with the concept of plant dad cas. this fic is THEE plant dad cas Bible. everything about this fic is perfect. bonus: has a great OC!
Teaching Poetry to Fish by aeli_kindara, 52k, another aeli_kindara fic! this fic is destiel, but cas-centric and gives us the cas lore that we deserve! bonus is that it includes a lot of beautiful poetry :) excellent read for cas girls or dean girls who are therefore in love with cas or sam girls who are therefore bff’s with cas or jack girls who love cas or-
Aprés by imogenbynight, 24k, I am obsessed with this fic. I remember when it came out in 2013, it was THEE post-s8 fic. very, very cute. dean and cas in paris :)
FIC RECS
organized by shortest to longest (i gave my own short descriptions for some, and copy and pasted the descriptions from ao3 for others that i didn’t remember as well off the top of my head!) i tried to tag authors whose tumblrs I know off the top of my head for everyone to follow!!! If you read a fic and enjoy it, be sure to leave the author some love! <3
Abandoned by quiettewandering, 1k, short, sweet fic where Dean finds Cas’ journal from when he was human :)
in the dark by sicsempertyrannis, 1k, cas getting so happy that the lights burst :’) bonus points for Jack
Hope by @sinnabonka (ao3) 1.7k, 15x19 coda, empty rescue and reunion :)
To Change the Things We Can by cenotaphy, 1.9k, 15x18 confession scene fix-it
stay by aeli_kindara, 2.5k, tombstone coda yeehaw
Shelter by aeli_kindara, 3.1k, for all you sexy john winchester haters out there <3
r/supernatural by renrub, 3.5k, listen, i don’t normally read crack fics... but this one is straight up hilarious. dean posts on reddit
Bring Home by cenotaphy, 3.8k, post 15x19 fix it. cas comes back, but he doesn’t go to the bunker. has some great dialogue
La cucina by orange_crushed, 3.9k, dean’s love language as food, s9 human cas
at the end of the world by dothraki_shieldmaiden, 4.6k, 15x20 fix-it. the soft heaven epilogue that we deserved!
Down in the River by Ias, 4.7k. s8. you’ve heard of dean praying to cas in purgatory. how about cas praying to dean in purgatory?
The First Thing There Is by bendingsignpost, 5k, Dean temporarily loses his memory to get rid of Michael. but he does not lose his feelings (I am a shameless sucker for this trope)
Never or Forever by almaasi, 5.6k, soft dinner with the wayward sisters. everyone knows except dean. Jody pov
The Cry of Elisha after Elijah by intothesilentland, 5.8k canon-compliant with 15x20 fix-it. the reunion we deserved!
Without Further Ado by almaasi, 5.8k, set s14. dean has a list of reasons not to be with cas, and it seems like all the reasons have run out. super soft i love this
Fata Morgana by orange_crushed, 6.6k, post 9x23, Bela-centric fic (still destiel tho) Dean is the king of hell. I love Bela so I loved this fic!!! exactly what i needed after just finishing s3 in my rewatch
ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find by xylodemon, 6.8k, post 15x19 fix-it with a super creative and fun way to bring cas back!
To Know by imogenbynight, 6.9k. dean is away on a hunt and tells cas NOT to open a box in his dresser! loved this fic <3
The 36 Questions that Lead to Love by sicsempertyrannis, 7.5k another fic with THEE thirty six questions!!! cas comes back from the empty after 15x19 and everyone in the bunker is sick of dean and cas not confronting their feelings. if you ever just wanted dean and cas to talk it out (haven’t we all) this fic is for you
First Date by aeli_kindara, 8.9k. post 15x14, is a canon-divergent series followed by Second Date. Dean and Cas go on dates :) the s15 we deserved
The Thirty-Six Questions That Lead To Love by aeli_kindara, 12.9k. case fic with Claire where cas and dean go undercover as a couple and talk about their feelings :’) i mean, what more can you ask for? 11/10 love this fic got distracted because i had to go reread dean and cas getting together in this fic again :’) aeli_kindara stan account
Trials and Tribulations of Raising a Nephilim by sickandtiredofyou, 13k, post-12x23. Jack is a baby. Dean cares for him and deals with his grief. don’t worry there’s a happy ending
The Girlfriend Experience by rageprufrock, 15k. I have nothing to say about this fic other than the fact that it is a classic and required reading
i crippled your heart a hundred times by bravest, 19k, set after s8, cas confesses his love to dean and he takes some time to digest it. honestly love this fic bc i feel like this is exactly how dean would react to a love confession. it felt very in character to me
Tacoma by ellispark, 20k, canon divergent s15 after the deancas breakup, angst with a happy ending. dean reevaluates his life and goes after cas (as he should’ve!) who is trying to figure it out on his own
Hope and Clay by tabulaxrasa, 20k set after 12x12. great sam, dean, mary, cas case fic! dean and cas trying to figure it out. has literally one of my favorite dean lines from a fic ever: "Oh my god, stop talking. Right now. Forever. You're not supposed to cry when other people have sex. What is wrong with you? Christ. I am embarrassed for both of us."
profoundly bonded (by law) by sobsicles, 20k, post-canon written in 2020. dean and cas get married, and THEN dean figures his shit out. fellas is it gay to marry your best friend. soft domestic vibes
the taste of gravel in the mouth by deathbanjo, 22k, post s9. This is what Cas gave up Heaven for: greasy diner food, shitty motel rooms with even shittier cable, long car rides spent in complete silence except for the same six tapes playing over and over again, and a burnt-out husk of a man who can barely hold a conversation anymore.
Seek to Know You Better by ahurston, 27k. post-canon. another 36 questions that lead to love fic can you tell that i’m obsessed? this one is a roadtrip and has some cases in it too. so wholesome
what a terrible world, what a beautiful world by dullahans, 35k, post 15x03 the rupture. cas asks dean for his help finding jack. dean refuses to give leave without cas.
Love: A Retrospective by xylodemon, 40k, set post s12, angst with a happy ending. brave enough to ask what we’ve all been thinking: what if they’ve been hooking up this whole time? excellent fic
Heroes for Ghosts by panethon_of_discord, 42k, canon-divergent after 12.08 when sam and dean get arrested. Cas stops at nothing to rescue them. listen, I haven’t even SEEN s12 yet and i just know this is better than whatever the spn writers came up with
Someone Who’s Feeling For Me by ellispark, 45k. absolute PEAK deancas being idiots and miscommunicating. case fic that involves lisa! i love lisa in this fic she’s so cool. set in s12
IPAMIS OL OLPRIT by emmbrancsxx0, 56k. set in s14, john winchester comes back from the dead and (obviously) causes problems. cathartic in the sense that shit gets to be hashed out (as it should have been) also plotty! and established relationship
Emergence by ellispark, 58k, this fic was interesting! plotty. dean, sam, and eileen have their memories of cas erased. cue them running into the mysterious jimmy novak three years later. angsty at times
what stays (and what fades away) by dothraki_shieldmaiden, 64k. loved this fic. i don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s a djinn-esque fic where cas gets stuck between two worlds
*The Goldenrod Revisions by aethylas, 65k, script-style rewrite post 15x18. i loved this! i could not put it down. I thought the author did such an excellent job wrapping up the series in a very satisfying way and it all seemed like it could have happened in canon. This seriously gave me the closure that I needed and did not get. I HIGHLY recommend this one.
Memories Bring Back Memories (Bring Back You) by sobsicles, 66k, Dean and Cas wake up with no memory of who they are, but they’re pretty sure they’re serial killers. lots of pining, miscommunication, and relationship drama. I read this fic between the hours of 2am-6am like god intended i couldn’t put it down
Forgotten by NorthernSparrow, 161k, set mid season 9 and goes canon-divergent. OH BOY where to even start with this fic? first, it’s not technically destiel. HOWEVER there is a massive sequel that IS destiel so essentially this is just the slow burn to end all slow burns. technically a case fic, involves memory loss, plotty, interesting mythology, great mystery! excellent fic.
Flight by NorthernSparrow, 319k, sequel that follows the events of Forgotten. "glacially slow romance”, wing fic/angel lore, warning that there is a lot of angsty and hurt cas (as a cas girl this hurt me to read. but the fic is worth it) great oc’s from the last fic, excellent plot. NorthernSparrow outdid themselves, truly we are blessed. both these fics are worth the read imo!
16x01 Witchy Business by @katistry script-style. The TikTok witch Sam episode of Supernatural that we deserved. I didn’t know where to put this because it doesn’t have a word count listed but it is quite literally the funniest thing I’ve ever read. I had tears rolling down my face bc i was laughing so hard
ONGOING FICS these are some ongoing fics that I’m following and have loved so far!
ascend by quiettewandering @wanderingcas cannot say enough about how much i love this fic and how much i look forward to reading the update every sunday! fix-it fic set after 15x19 :)
A Glimpse Beyond by NorthernSparrow, oh boy when i found out that NorthernSparrow from Flight/Forgotten fame was doing a s15 fix-it fic i SPRINTED to ao3. can’t wait to read the rest! 4 chapters up so far
The Pull of Us by @shelikestv (ao3) set pre-series 11. a memory loss fic that i’ve been following. i am obsessed! the mystery of it all is killing me and i get so excited seeing an update!
AS ALWAYS if one of your favs was missing from this list PLEASE drop a link in my inbox. I’m always looking for new fic to read and rec :) ALSO I have a fic rec tag on my blog and a tag for tumblr ficlets

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Sophia Jirafe
Seven of Sophia Jirafe’s fics are at Gossamer, but more of her X-Files stories are at AO3 (as sophiahelix). I’ve recced some of my favorites of her stories here before, including Stones and Bones. She was active in the fandom during the show’s run and has never strayed far from fandom in general. She co-founded Glass Onion, a great multi-fandom mailing list that now has nearly 1,000 fics from 100 fandoms at AO3. Big thanks to Sophia Jirafe for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
It did initially, but so many old shows are on streaming now and getting discovered by new people, it makes sense.
I did get a comment from someone who said my first story under this name, posted in early 2000 when I was a college freshman, was older than her by a couple of months, and THAT took me aback.
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
It was my first fandom, discovered when I was 17 and searching for info about the show on the school library computer, and it really shaped my whole life! I met a lot of people I still know today (mostly in non-fannish venues like FB, though I do still have some connections in fandom), and learned a lot about writing and just life generally, since I was younger than most of fandom at the time.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
I started off on a tiny forum at a website called Squirrel’s Nest, but I kept seeing people thanking Scullyfic in fic headers and eventually I was able to join the mailing list (which was capped to 500 members). Scullyfic was everything to me — I made friends, betas, discussed the show, learned about all kinds of things on Off-Topic Fridays, etc. A lot of those friends, I would email with or more often chat on AIM (individual or these sprawling group chats that would go on all day), and then at the end of 2001 we started migrating to Livejournal. I was getting into Buffy more by then, but it was still mostly the same crowd of people I knew from Scullyfic.
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
I feel like it started me on a whole life path really — finding that my deep obsession with fiction could be channeled like that and shared with other people, as well as deepening my writing. Online fandom has been a major part of my social life for over 20 years now, and I love the mix of getting excited about things with friends and also the creative outlet.
My corner of X-Files fandom in particular was just very calm and enjoyable for the most part, full of older professional women who were happy to be friends and give me advice about all kinds of things, and it really set the bar for me with my online interactions. Now I’m almost 40 and trying to be that person for my younger friends, as well as having no patience for toxicity and in-fighting in my fandom spaces.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
A combination of the creepy conspiracy angle and just adoring Scully. I remember how mysterious and fascinating the show seemed when I discovered it right before S5, and there was no way to find out more except to keep watching and hoping they explained. Scully was so smart and tough and beautiful and interesting, and as a teen I was just captivated by her (and the UST, though I didn’t care about Mulder as much).
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
I ran across it a couple times early on but felt embarrassed by the concept, but then I read the first in Karen Rasch’s Words series and suddenly it clicked for me. After a while I started daydreaming my own conversations between them, very similar to what happens to me now when I’m getting into a new pairing, so after reading tons of recommended fic by big authors, I started writing my own (the 3-4 stories I posted in high school are all wiped from the internet now, though).
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
Good memories, though because it was my senior year of high school and college, I know a lot of it is just tied to that time in my life, and also being in my very first fandom. I will rewatch episodes from time to time, but I basically never revisit former fandoms because they’re kind of like exes, even if I finished on a good note. I also think my taste in fic has changed (and there isn’t the same novelty of “characters I like getting together omg!”)
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
So many! None of them had quite the same combination of excellent central architecture (especially pre-AO3) and a really high level of discussion and friendliness without being enormous, but I’ve loved them all in their own ways. I’ve done fandom on LJ/DW, Tumblr, Discord, and now on Twitter, and I think I miss the mailing list days the most. You didn’t have to repeat yourself so much in multiple conversations, you weren’t character limited, and the discussion was all in one place, with personal stuff more confined to your side conversations. Discord is a little like that, but it moves too fast and there’s too much noise for my taste.
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
Heh, after X-Files I went through a whole phase of faves in the Scully vein — Buffy, Aeryn Sun, Kara Thrace, etc. Like many people I’ve shifted primarily into m/m in the last decade (Sherlock, YOI, and recently The Untamed have been my major fictional fandoms, along with a lot of sports RPF), but for non-fannish shows I’m always looking for awesome new female characters, like Elizabeth on the Americans, Peggy on Mad Men, Nadja on What We Do in the Shadows, etc. And I do LOVE Killing Eve and have written a little f/f over there.
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I’ll rewatch favorite episodes occasionally, and I keep thinking about a full rewatch but it takes so much time! I never saw the second movie, and I didn’t finish the first of the new seasons because I was hating it, so it’s a little hard for me to think fannishly about them when I disliked basically everything after “Je Souhaite” so much (as far as I’m concerned the show ends there).
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
X-Files no, but yeah I’m still very active in fandoms.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
I lost all my saved fic several computers ago, but I recall loving “Blue Christmas” by Plausible Deniability and “Diamonds and Rust” by MustangSally (obviously everything she wrote was great).
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
Looking at my X-Files fic, I can’t believe how short it is and how comparatively little of it there is (I have lost track of a few ficlets). It felt like such a big deal to finish anything back then! I think my favorite remains Alphabetum, which involved a tricky structure and 5 elements given by people as part of the Scullyfic Improv challenge, where you had a week to write a story around those elements.
My favorite of my recent fic in fictional fandoms is probably the GoT/YOI crossover novel I wrote a couple years ago, for a completely opposite experience to this (and proof you can grow as a writer with a lot of effort!)
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
It’s honestly hard to imagine going back (like I said, I usually don’t), but I guess I could get inspired by something.
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I certainly still write, and I do have to give credit to XF fandom and Scullyfic in particular for giving me the start I got, where I really wanted to be writing good fiction. The few things I wrote in high school were just me jamming out romantic cliches, but the people I was lucky to know in XF fandom showed me that “just” fanfic can still aspire to be high quality. I am a much, much better and more disciplined writer than I was back then, but I might never have started on this path without fandom friends encouraging me.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
Usually just daydreaming about emotional dynamics between characters/people, but sometimes something specific in canon or real life (I write a lot of RPF) gets me going, or maybe something I read.
What's the story behind your pen name?
When I wrote for X-Files, I picked “Sophia Jirafe” combining my favorite first name with a fancy spelling for my favorite animal (I was 18! Don’t judge!) Over on Livejournal, my friend Jintian and I initially shared an account with the same name as our website, double_helix, and when she got her own account I changed to sophia_helix, which is now sophiahelix just about everywhere. A little clunky, but I like the continuity (and I do run across old friends who remember the name).
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
The friends I’ve known for a very long time know about it, but we have never talked about it in depth. My husband, who I met not long after getting into fandom, also knows about it, and he’s encouraging and also a writer so we talk all the time. I told my mom in college and she was pretty dismissive, so we haven’t talked about it since (but my younger sister knows and is cool about it).
When I was younger, it was something I shared readily (I bonded with a new friend in law school I saw looking at LJ), but now I don’t really bring it up with new acquaintances.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
I just made a Carrd the other day with all my various fannish addresses (Twitter, locked fannish Twitter, AO3, Tumblr)
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
Just that it really was a high quality fandom — so much excellent long casefic, so many cool down to earth people, just generally a great launching place for a young fan. The friendships I made with older people were really important to me, and it makes me sad to see a lot of younger people now getting upset about the idea of anyone over a certain age being in their fandom spaces. I hope someday fandom can get back to appreciating that people of all ages can be the fandom type, and that everyone brings something different to the community.

Full Disclosure
As you have probably noticed, I don't really post original content on my Tumblr nowadays, and the inbox' title remained "requests closed", even though the amount of time I promised you would have to wait for it to open again, had passed.
Thing is, I don't really find enjoyment in filling the requests anymore. Instead of getting a great kick of inspiration when I received an ask, I often sat with my phone in my hand with a blank face, churning my brain to come up with something clever, or even putting off requests for days because I couldn't think of anything. Often, those fills turned out very, very lackluster.
Life is a little busy right now- I'm sort of living with my girlfriend and my family at the same time, running back and forth between two cities constantly- I'm also on job hunting and uni is starting up again in about two weeks. So, time is also not really my friend, especially when I have a full inbox.
I do think, that when you don't enjoy something anymore, than you should take a break from it, or stop altogether- it's better for both you and the audience you're trying to reach. Quality writing is better than some nonsense I spat out because I wasn't in the mood/didn't have time to come up with something more compelling.
The lack of feedback is also one of the reasons I don't feel like continuing. Constantly worrying about my writing, being anxious if I didn't fill something quickly enough, only to have 2-3 likes on my ficlets is... Disheartening, to say the least. I have almost 300 followers, who, I guess, all followed me for my writing - yet, when it comes to feedback, it feels like only about 10 people care.
I want to clarify three things, though:
One: this doesn't necessarily mean I won't open the requests ever again. Only right now, I feel like this is the best for all of us- maybe I can get back to them in a few months, half a year, or who knows, really! We can consider this a giant writer's block (in the terms of request-filling), and maybe some day I will get over it.
Two: this is not punishment for not getting reblogs and more enthusiasm, even though I added it here as one of the reasons I'm stopping- that's not my intention. I just want to paint a detailed picture of what's going on in my mind right now, and I always try to be honest. So please, don't beat yourself up over this.
Three: I'm absolutely going to continue writing. I will keep updating both WT? and WITS (in fact, I might get a new chapter of the latter done tomorrow), and I have a shit ton of ideas for future fem!queen fics- so, this is not a break from writing, all together, only from the requests. I feel like I would rather concentrate on my ao3 fics in my free time, so you can absolutely count on those to keep going!
I know that I'm risking losing a huge bunch of followers, and I won't blame anyone. I did spend a lot of time in the past few weeks mulling this over and trying to figure out what to do. I do feel a certain sense of responsibility, considering that I'm probably the only solely genderbent Queen writer who also took requests; I felt horrible for taking that away. But at the same time, I knew that I had to do this for myself if I didn't want to go insane. As you can tell, it wasn't an easy decision.
I will continue to be active on this blog- you can always come and talk to me, share your fem!queen headcanons with me, ask about my fics, or just rant to me! I love every single one of you, and I don't wanna abandon anyone- I simply couldn't. This fandom gave so much to me, and writing has became my absolute favorite hobby, so I'm not letting go of any of those.
I hope we can still all continue to be great friends, and have an awesome time together!
Lots and lots of love ❤️❤️

Aria’s Long List of Lucifer & Deckerstar Fic Recs (Part 6)
Hello, all!  It seems like it’s about that time again to continue my fic rec series!  I haven’t had a ton of time to read since the S4 finale because I had a pretty hellacious summer, after which I’ve been so focused on writing.  Hence why this has taken so long.
DISCLAIMER: These recs are organized by author, and the order is not meant to imply an order of preference.  All recommendations are completed fics unless otherwise noted.  If anyone knows the @ tumblr names for any of the authors I missed tagging, or if I got anything wrong, please let me know.  Lastly, this is just a list of things I’ve read that I really enjoyed, and I want to spread the love.  That’s it.  Period.  It’s not politics, and I have no ulterior motives, okay?
NOTE: You can find my previous five rec posts here (part 1), here (part 2), here (part 3), here (part 4), and here (part 5).
And, so, without further ado!
The Devil Goes to Shul by @arlome.  Deckerstar.  7k words.  Post-S4.  In which Lucifer meets a Rabbi.  This is such an interesting commentary on the differences between the various Abramahamic religions’ perceptions of the Devil.  Rabbi Schulman is a well-drawn, fascinating, fantastic character.  A fic that’s great food for thought, with a dash of good humor, and a little smut thrown in for good measure.
Of Honey, Sulphur, & Bone by @aryanightshade.  Deckerstar.  35k words.  Post-S3.  In which the end of 3x24 goes a little differently.  Cain captures both Lucifer & Chloe and takes them prisoner, absconding with them to his bunker in the desert.  This fic has some graphic blood and gore scenes, so be wary if that’s a trigger for you, but the revelation; Chloe’s dueling panic, doubt, and empathy; the beautiful hurt/comfort; and the emotional pulse of this story makes for a riveting read.
The Ghosts of Picnic Table #29 by @elleflies.  Deckerstar.  Maze & Chloe.  ~50k words when completely posted.  Post-S4.  This story is technically a WIP because it’s still in the process of being posted, but it’s already completely written, and I know it’s good because I betaed it and got to see how it all ends up, so I feel confident recommending it, now.  A year after Lucifer departed, Chloe is still grieving his loss, when an unusual case at a haunted picnic table crops up, and she enlists Maze’s help to investigate.  Lots of female bonding and fun in this story.  And a ton of emotional intimacy and mutual pining for Deckerstar when Lucifer mysteriously starts showing up in Chloe’s dreams.
Boom by emynii & @obliobla.  Lucifer & Dan.  4k words.  In which Lucifer & Dan get trapped under an exploded building, and the only thing that’s stopping Dan from being crushed are Lucifer’s fanned out wings.  Cue revelation.  Cue platonic Douchifer stuff.  And have some hurt Lucifer and hurt Dan to top it off.  A lovely mix.
Trouble by Design by @hiromystory.  Deckerstar.  Lucifer & Dan.  76k words.  Originally recommended as a WIP, now it’s done!  A post-S3 Deckerstar scenario told in novel form. My favorite thing about this story is actually the author’s in-depth exploration of how Dan might react to a Devilish revelation.  Hint: not well.  Hiro deftly tackles Dan’s feelings about some of the questionable stuff he’s done through the lens of him now knowing the punishment that awaits him, and it’s both captivating and heart wrenching.
Guilt by liannabob.  Deckerstar.  22k words.  Post-S3.  In which Chloe doesn’t take the revelation of Lucifer’s devil-ness all that well, and dire consequences ensue.  This fic.  Was.  So.  Angsty.  The idea of Lucifer slumming in Hell loops for things he loves about Earth is just ugh.  So good.  And awful at the same time.  But in a good way.  And I promise the payoff for this angst is so touching and very worth it.
Patrick the Bartender Is Not Paid Enough for This Shit by liannabob.  Patrick.  15k words.  Canon-compliant S1 fic.  I know, I know.  Patrick, you’re saying.  Who the hell is Patrick?  Remember way back in the S1 pilot, when that bartender pops up from behind the bar, after having given Maze some head, and Maze is all cat-caught-the-canary, “You can go, Patrick.”  Yes.  That Patrick.  This fic basically takes that character who never got a single line and gives him a whole personality and backstory and POV.  The premise of this fic is that pretty much every employee at Lux low-key knows (and is fine with the fact) Lucifer is the actual Devil.  And it’s.  AMAZING.  HYSTERICAL.  And PERFECT.  If you never read another OC fic in your life, at least give this one a shot.  You won’t regret it.
Smoke & Mirrors by @theleafpile.  Deckerstar.  80k words.  An all-human mobster AU.  In which Lucifer is the Devil of Los Angeles, and Chloe is still a homicide detective for the LAPD, who gets involved with him against her better judgment.  This fic manages to maintain the integrity and essence of the characters we know and love, while simultaneously transporting them to an entirely new premise, and I loved it.  I love theleafpile’s lyrical writing style.  And I love the little bits of mythology she injects that suggest … this “all human” AU might not be what it seems on the surface.  It takes a special kind of writer to pull off this kind of transformative AU, and theleafpile does it aplomb.
The Free Parking Jackpot Rule by lilith_morgana.  Deckerstar.  3.8k words.  Interstitial, canon-compliant S3 fic.  Offers a little bit more context for the unicorn Trixie painted on Lucifer’s cheek in S3 on monopoly night.  A concentrated shot of angst, with some lovely characterization to boot.
The Delusional Devil by @maimat2.  Deckerstar.  25k words.  Late S2 era.  A casefic case-study on Chloe’s empathy.  Based on the premise that she naturally assumes Lucifer’s wholly human self has some kind of mental trauma or disorder.  When Lucifer starts acting more … more, she assumes he’s losing his grip on reality.  I loved the touching way this story delved into Chloe & Lucifer’s friendship, and of course I loved all the hints of Lucifer’s otherness, which were tempered by Chloe’s human perceptions.
I Will Fear No Evil by @miahclone.  Lucifer & Dan.  18k words.  An interstitial S4 piece, arguably canon-compliant until proven otherwise.  In which Lucifer & Dan are taken prisoner by some cultists, and Lucifer is subjected to an exorcism that goes horribly wrong.  WARNING: if you suffer from emetophobia, this fic will be extremely triggering.  I don’t have emetophobia, and I still got a bit queasy.  There is also some pretty graphic blood & gore.  This is quintessential whump.  But this is well worth a read if you’re a sucker for Dan & Lucifer platonic bonding, hurt Lucifer, hurt/comfort in general, endings that make you go, “Whoa! New head canon!” and humor in the face of shit circumstances.  Which I very much am.  So.  There you go :D
De Profundis by @mswyrr.  Amenadiel & Lucifer.  3k words.  Post-S4.  Amenadiel offers Lucifer a solution to the problem of Hell needing to be ruled by an angel.  A beautifully written brother-bonding fic, and, honestly, I think it’s the most straightforward way to fix how S4 ended.
Time Heals All Wounds by @notonelineff.  Deckerstar.  23k words.  Post-S3.  Fills in the blanks for how things could have gone after S3.  Lucifer is in dire need of medical aid, and Chloe tries to help.  Satisfying hurt/comfort, and a lovely resolution.
Ouroboros by @pandainthestars.  Deckerstar.  3k words.  Events happen slightly differently in 4x09.  Chloe & Lucifer chase after Kinley.  Lucifer goes full-Devil when they’re in pursuit, not when they’re at Lux, which prompts some very interesting/poignant discussion between Chloe & Lucifer.  I loved Chloe’s assertion of the ouroboros metaphor.  A quick, angsty read.
A question of faith by @pixelbypixelfanfic.  Ella & Lucifer.  2.1k words.  A post-reveal fic for Ella, in which Lucifer & Ella discuss her faith.  A poignant, thoughtful little piece that I really enjoyed.
Soup Kitchen by @tarysande.  Deckerstar.  1k words.  Speculative scene-replacement, S4.  A heart-wrenching little interstitial scene for 4x03 that looks at how things may have gone if Lucifer hadn’t already been pushed by Father Kinley into doubting Chloe’s intentions.
my definition of holy (changes with each loss) by @thewollfgang.  Deckerstar.  3k words.  Post-S4.  So … this fic doesn’t end happy.  At all.  Beware if that’s a problem for you.  But if you want some delicious, cutting, heart-wrenching angst to roll around in for a while, this fic is your jam.  The concept of Chloe praying to Lucifer intermittently, giving him updates, sending him her love, as she lives her life on Earth, and he’s stuck in Hell is just … oh, my god, my heart.
drunk in love by @thewollfgang.  Deckerstar.  4k words.  Post-S4.  This fic isn’t in alphabetical order with wollfy’s other fic on this list, but I’m doing that intentionally, because if you want a happy ending for the previous nuclear angst bomb, I recommend head-canoning this as your ultimate resolution, where Lucifer & Chloe are reunited, and everything is gooey and perfect and the world is puppies and kittens.  I live to see tipsy Lucifer & Chloe at Lux through the perspective of their friends/found-family.  I hope we get something like this in S4.
The Trouble with Brittanies by @theyahwehdance.  500 words.  A hysterical little ficlet in which Lucifer calls Chloe and asks for help with the Brittanies.  I saw this ficlet evolve from a live discussion that made me laugh so hard my belly hurt.  I mean, it’s an honest misunderstanding ….

fic writer meme (and vidder meme too, why not?)
I was tagged by @thetimemoves and @jacquez45, thank you both so much!
 Author Name: rachelindeed
Vidder Name: educatedinyellow
Fandoms You Write For: Lately, it's Sherlock Holmes (mostly ACD/Victorian era adaptations) and Supernatural. In the past I've written for BBC Sherlock, Battlestar Galactica (the reboot), and Harry Potter. Have dabbled in Buffy, Firefly, Batman, Classic Who, and Highlander.
Fandoms I Vid For: So far I've vidded for Buster Keaton, the Sherlock Holmes multiverse, Supernatural, and BBC Victoria
Where You Post Fic: AO3 these days. I have a ten-year-old Fanfiction.Net account that I stopped updating some years ago, but a bunch of my stories remain up over there and I occasionally get a comment still! Also I have a ton of ficlets and comment fics scattered around the comms of LJ like wistful monuments to a bygone age :) I will never find them all again. Godspeed, little stories!
Where You Post Vids: AO3 again, and My YouTube channel, and tumblr
Most Popular One-Shot:  Measuring by kudos, The Almost Empty House, by a significant margin. It's a BBC Potterlock fic, and I had so much fun writing it. It started out life as two effervescent LJ fics back in February of 2011, gosh! -- “The Almost Empty House” and “The Further Adventures of the Hogwarts Irregulars.” I just posted them together in one document when I moved them to AO3.  So structurally it's loose and kind of weird. But it makes me happy and I'm very honestly delighted that it's the most popular thing I've ever written. I'm especially tickled at how many people liked Mycroft's cameos, because I always have a soft spot for Mycroft.
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: I have almost no multi-chapter fics, but my most popular is my most recent (yay!), Aphrodite's A Great Conversation Starter. It's a Supernatural fic featuring the most popular pairing on that show, so that probably explains it :) I'm very happy that some people enjoyed it, though, because it was really difficult to write. It taught me how hard it is for me to have characters directly expressing their love for each other -- I usually brush lightly around it and come at it sideways, but this time I tried to tackle it head on and I felt very self-conscious. Usually I don't post things that I suspect are going to embarrass me later, but I felt like SPN deserved something as heartfelt as I could make. I just told myself: don't be reserved. Don't worry it's too fluffy or too unsubtle. Go for it. They deserve love declarations and luxuriant kisses, dammit! They’ve suffered enough!
Most Popular Vid: 500 miles (coming home with you), my multiverse Holmes/Watson vid from Holmestice. It got to circulating on tumblr and has about 230 notes. Given that my vids tend to average under 20 notes and/or kudos, this was an unexpected pleasure!
Favorite Story You Wrote: I like all of my stories, to be quite honest :) It's easiest to break it down by fandom. My favorite Snape fic is probably Severe Reasoning. My favorite Kara/Lee fic is probably Forever Taking Leave. I'm still too close to my Holmesian fics to pick a favorite yet.
Favorite Vid You Made: I genuinely do like them all and enjoy watching them. My current favorite is probably Miss Independent (an SPN Destiel vid). I was proud of the editing/movement on that one rhythmically, and it was one of those uncannily serendipitous matches between song and footage. I was actually able to construct a vid that covered almost every major shippy moment between those characters in nearly perfect chronological order across the whole series in a way that put every lyric of that song to good and specific use. It will probably never happen again. It felt like magic.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Eh, I'm not that nervous. *shrugs* I mean, with every story there is that excruciating window in between the time you post and the time you get the first comment where you worry that it's terrible and feel kind of morose. But honestly once any work of mine gets even one comment I'm like: "oh thank god it's okay" and from that point on I'm fine. Some of my personal favorite works haven't gotten much of a response and it doesn't make me love them any less. They're for me first :)
How Do You Choose Your Titles: I can't say I have a system, really. I went through a phase where I used poetry quite a bit, but these days it's more of a grab bag. I'm usually aiming for something thematic. There was only one fic where I was genuinely stumped for a title, and thesmallhobbit helped me out in the beta process by naming it for me. She plucked out a short phrase I'd used in the text: Two Shoes For a Hat. I knew, of course, that barter was the central motif of that story, and I'd written the summary for it already ("They have a barter system. It started early.") But there was something whimsical about the specific phrase she picked out that fit the story to a T, and it remains one of my favorite titles.
Do You Outline: I usually just start out writing down snippets of dialogue, memorable moments, any key ideas that I want to hang the story around. Then I try to write it out, but I usually get stuck for long spells. So I try to tell myself the story in paraphrase, just writing conversational paragraphs to get the gist of what I’m going for. For example, this was a bit from my rough draft of The Better Part of Valour: "Okay, so Kratides goes first to the hospital and, when he's released, moves into Melas's guest room. The Holmeses employ a nurse to assist his recovery. He's determined to continue the chase to recover his sister as soon as he's physically capable. Holmes tries to convince him to leave it to them and their international contacts in law enforcement and government, and his response is a hearty F you."
How many of your fanworks are…
Complete: 48 stories and 8 vids.
In-Progress: 2 (One is a Doctor Who-Sherlock fusion fic in which Sherlock is a Weeping Angel. The other is a Potterlock fic series; its two individual entries are completed stories, but they set up sequels I haven't written, so the series itself is unfinished.)
Coming Soon: More vids, probably. On the fic front, I just borrowed a bunch of library books about bird behavior because I want to write more of my ACD wing!lock fic. And I've been rereading some Discworld recently in the hope that I can get some traction on Vimes/Vetinari, because I love them a lot and they deserve more fic. It's just, there are certain characters that you worry you can't write well enough, and so I'm sitting here waiting for appropriately sharp Vetinari lines to write themselves. We'll see.
Do You Accept Prompts: One of the things I struggle with the most in writing is coming up with ideas, so I adore prompts. Many of my favorite fics would never have been written had I not signed up for exchanges and gotten an assignment with someone else's prompts to get me moving forward. However, I always feel awkward asking for prompts because my writing muse is very fickle and I can't promise to actually follow through on writing each thing that might be prompted to me. But if anyone out there wants to throw me suggestions or ideas and wouldn't be disappointed if I can't promise to deliver, never hesitate! Suggestions are welcome and appreciated at any time.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Less excitement, more forlorn hope, really. I've been vidding a lot lately because the writing doesn't come easily. It never did, but less so than usual these days. I'm letting that side of my creative life sit fallow for a while until something's ready to sprout.
Tag Five Fanfic Authors to Answer These Questions As Well: Sure, how about six? @viridiandecisions, @a-candle-for-sherlock, @sanspatronymic, @sanguinarysanguinity, @gailbsanders, and @plaidadder, if you like. And of course anyone else who wants to play!

Please welcome PurpleDog, y’all!
Tumblr media
I'd like everyone to welcome Deborah aka @purpledog47 to the wild and woolly world of the tumblr side of fandom!
For those who don't know her (possibly a lot of you), D has been a Trekkie and P/C shipper since the late 80s and a Voyager fan-J/C shipper since 2012.  She reads and writes in both ships and is on FFN and AO3 both - you can find her on FFN as bevfan here (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/449503/bevfan) and AO3 as purpledog (http://archiveofourown.org/users/purpledog/works). She's a great patient sounding board for your fic ideas – and I'm always grateful when she listens to my off the wall plot explanations LOL.
Also for the record!  She is the reason I wrote Four.  (So y'all can direct your feels outrage equally from now on ;)  kidding, kidding....)
Now I'm gonna take a page from @warp6's book and attempt to do some introductions/suggestions of people for her to follow and suggest that you might want to follow her back.  She might even be following you already – just give her time to learn her way around tumblr and she'll soon be binge-reblogging with the rest of us, I'm sure! ;)  I'll try not to forget anyone!  But add to this post if I do :)
Fellow writers you may know - @angelicsharonraydor (my favorite Kaitlin and future first woman on Mars ;) @joyful-voyager (everyone knows our Laura I think), @jhelenoftrek (aka Helen8462 – the one who wrote my Chak and Naomi adventure so awesomely), @mia-cooper (yes THE Mia Cooper who wrote The Bitter End. among other things...), @missmil (she of the Last Goodbyes trilogy), @rawkfemme (who gave us mini KJ in Thumbelina), @muldyfi (Muldy on AO3), @angrywarrior69 (she defies explanation lol – just get to know her), @carlynroth (with her Counselor series - a super interesting AU), @lodessa (alias Khaleesi and owned by Their Feline Majesties Renly and Tiberius, so you get fic AND the occasional cute creatures), @killermanatee (she's written angst and fluff and even some Mark fic), @ricepips (fascinating little ficlets found only on tumblr.  Say that five times fast lol) @caladeniablue (Red Queen Running – need I say more?), and @devoverest (do not pass go or collect $200 without reading her fabulous Sam Wildman series Traveling Woman – holy shit).
Other awesome people off the top of my head include @thesearchforbluejello @cleoselene, @klugtiger, @ariella884, @galinaredreznikov, @ailtara, @weary-hearted-queen, @oh-the-profanity, @eyetagonthebridge, @inwaitforsomethingbetter, @quirkette100, @danakathrynjaneway, @captainandhercorgi, @little-tayy, @breezybree, @zjofierose, @ato-the-bean and the ever fabulous @pixiedane.
In the P/T camp we have @rikerssexblouse (RSB for short), @captacorn, @mollybecameanengineer (aka Sareki) and @alphaflyer – all great writers if you want your P/T fix.
Fellow VAMBies you might recognize - @gates-hepburn, @katesfire82, @missyhissy3, @kjaneway115, @talsi74656, @capt-nyc (aka Little Obsessions), @cheyfwriting, @spiletta42, @emmikamikatze (aka khurst), @supernovacoffee.  The last two do a daily screencap series "how to (not) look at your captain/XO" – tons of caption/prompt/misinterpretation hilarity always ensues.
Of course the @voyager-book-club tumblr for all your relaunch needs and @ds9vgrconfessions for fun confessions to read, agree/disagree with and generally discuss.
Last but not least - our blessed fanartists of talented images @crisisenvyart, @writtenndust and @stasiclaire.

I have a "few" writer asks from the list if you don't mind answering them: 4, 12, 13, 17, 50, 41, 49, 52 & 53 (p.s. the first fic I read from you was 'The Full Monty' and that was just great, I think about Arthur the chick all the time, he is the sweetest)
Hi! I’m so thrilled you like The Full Monty and Arthur, he’s my favourite too and I love him to bits. Have a fic planned all for him, which I’ll get to once I finish my other half a billion WIPs!
4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?
I do! I developed them gradually and they change and evolve as time goes by, but one of the things that I’ve been doing for the past 6-7 months is to turn off phones (that helps so much– not because it give me peace, I rarely receive calls– but because it’s a signal to myself that this is a time for me) and also to wear a bracelet a friend gave me, which has the phrase “write your story” engraved on it.
But what really puts me in a writing mood is playing the Fic Song (how did I write before I developed this ritual, I don’t know) which, after several plays, creates the Pavlovian response I need to get my bum on the chair.
12. How do you deal with self-doubts?
By banging my head on the desk and pulling my hair out. Seriously though, (don’t get me wrong, the previous does happen) I struggled with a ton of doubts last year when I was writing my first Drarries (The Miseducation, and the Full Monty), but since then, the more I post completed fics, the more confident I am that I can–at the very least– finish what I’m writing. Every storyline presents its own problems of course and gives me a fresh set of doubts (I doubted if I could do the plot in Unquiet Grave and pretty much everything about dnab) but I tell myself “trust your brain” (sometimes even out loud). And it helps. If I’ve figured it out in the past, stuck halfway through a story, no idea where it was going and certain it was all a pile of crap, I can figure it out again.
Deadlines also help me a whole lot. I’m terrific under pressure and don’t want to disappoint people by dropping out of fests so doubts are shoved swiftly aside and I get on with it.
13. How do you deal with writer’s block?
Writer’s block is a symptom, not the problem. So I try to find what the problem is: am I too tired and burned-out maybe? Is it that I’m approaching the story in the wrong way? Am I afraid I’ll cock it up? Are my expectations too high? Am I going through a depressive episode?
Usually, the answer is fear. Fear is what stops me from writing, fear of failure, fear of being proved not good enough, fear of disappointing people who expect something wonderful from me. Fear is what’s stopping me from tackling my WIP again. I love it so much and have it all mapped out in my head, but I’m terrified I’ll cock it up. Which is how I’ve learned recently that writer’s block could apply to a particular project, not just writing in general.
Ways I deal with it: Journalling helps identify what the fear is. Crying. I’m not joking one bit. I keep my emotions under a tight lid normally, so putting on a sad film helps release the tension, and makes me feel lighter. And finally, time and patience. I’ve just spent two months blocked, mainly because I was burned-out. I needed time to read and recharge.
17. On average, how much writing do you get done in a day?
I’m one of the people who go through highs and lows, so averages are hard to estimate, but I’d say about 1k.
41. How many stories do you work on at one time?
I used to work on only one, but lately I’ve got several stories going at once. It depends, though, if it’s a “serious” fic or fun little ficlets. I’ve got about 13 AUs to write based on tumblr prompts (3 have been posted) and I’ve been skipping from one to the next, writing a bit of musicians Drarry, then Fae Drarry and so on. When I have a long(ish) fic that I’m very serious about, though, I focus exclusively on that.
49. What do you find the hardest to write in a story, the beginning, the middle or the end?
By and large, the middle. In some rare cases, it’s the beginning. But never the end. (so far anyway)
50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.
A story about a town where they decided to take everyone from the asylums and let them loose on a field to fend for themselves. I’ve no idea where I was going with that.
52. How did writing change you?
It’s made me more confident. It’s also allowed me to explore parts of myself I wasn’t consciously aware of before, something which I realised during therapy.
53. What does writing mean to you?
Everything.
Thank you for the ask! ❤❤

I'm so excited you reblogged mattex fic!! I love mattex so much omg. Do you have any favorite fics?? I want to read more!!
Ok first off, I’m sorry it took me a couple days to respond to this. I’ve had things going on and then I had to ruminate on my answer for a bit.
Trust me, no one is more excited than me that I got the chance to reblog mattex fic again. I’ve got tons of favorites, but unfortunately, lots of them(not all) have been taken down and thus aren’t ones I can rec. I don’t know if you’re new to the scene or if you’ve been around forever, but unless you haven’t read much of anything at all yet, I probably can’t rec you much you aren’t familiar with. But I’ll do my best to share some of my favorites that ARE still up. (I’d say about half of these require being logged onto Ao3, so if you don’t have an account yet, I’d highly suggest opening one so you can read all the things. I don’t think the wait period to be accepted is long at all these days.)
Get Ready To Play by tisziny is an AU where Matt is the host of a children’s tv show who Alex starts seeing. I don’t really wanna go into more detail for fear of spoiling anything, but it’s an old favorite and it even has a very enjoyable sequel.
Every Hour Thy Heart Runs Wild by space-and-thyme is a haunted house AU where Matt is basically a ghost haunting Alex’s newly-purchased abandoned manor home. The beginning especially is pretty creepy, and though that certainly lightens up as the fic goes on, I wouldn’t recommend reading late at night. I did beta read the later half or so of this as it was being published, just to lay my cards on the table.
The waves have come to take you away by Amie33 (no tumblr, as far as I know) is a little random in that it involves Alex receiving news that Matt has died and has lots of feels angst, particularly in the first half. But needless to say, it doesn’t stay awful and depressing and it’s another I’ve always been fond of.
I’m just realizing now that all three of these fics are rated M and I don’t know if that’s your thing or not, but I’m really not the best person to ask if you’re looking to avoid smut altogether. In any case, I’m switching now from individual fics to writers, because the next few people are ones who just write all-around great mattex and who I can’t possibly come up with just one favorite for. So check these people out if you haven’t already and just go through all the things. (I’m linking directly to the mattex tags their on Ao3 profiles, but they all have doctor/river fics on there that are just as wonderful too).
hihoplastic (amillionmillionvoices here on tumblr) is the one who wrote the ficlets I reblogged which inspired this message you sent. She also just finished up a very old fic with a final four very satisfying chapters and has a number of other great fics I’m gonna be revisiting soon myself.
spoilersweetie (she used to have the same name on here, but it looks like she’s deleted her account???) has plenty of fabulousness to distract yourself with for a while. A few different fics of hers come up as most popular in the tag on ao3 and they really are. I was just saying recently I need to go back and reread some.
riversdamsel (same on here) has several really fabulous AUs, including an angels and demons fic, one where Matt stars alongside Alex in Moll Flanders, and a medieval-esque royalty/blacksmith fic, along with several oneshots I really need to revisit sometime.
And then, loathe as I am to be THAT PERSON, especially if you’re not a newbie to the mattexfic scene, in which case this is extra ridiculous, I’ve written a fair amount of mattex that’s been reasonably popular and you can find that, if you’re interested, under my same name on Ao3: TheSpaceHairAndTheSpaceIdiot. I’ve got one long amnesia fic and a bunch of shorter fics, thought plenty aren’t actually all that short at all, just less chapters. I’m going to resist complaining about my own writing, because I know I’ll just get messages and texts yelling at me for it tomorrow, but with so many of the fandom greats having taken their works down, I figured I should at least mention my own ::shrug::

awkwardarin replied to your post “awkwardarin replied to your post “4, 7, 10 you bet your ass I’m...”
*chanting* DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT
You ask, I deliver. Here we gooooo~ (Also I’m going to shame you all I want SO)
As per request, I’ll answer all the asks (that I haven’t already) from the fanfic questions post, but it’s under a read more so I don’t literally kill everyone’s dashes. I’m so sorry in advance
1. What was the first fandom you got involved in? I mean, before I even knew what “fandom” meant, I was writing Twilight fanfiction, so I guess that counts. The first one I actively participated in was the Grump one haha
2. What is your latest fandom? Ouran High School Host Club, but again, if you want active participation, then I guess uhhh Night in the Woods?
3. What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in? Definitely the Grump fandom!! I’ve met all the best people and 99% of my friends through this blog right here!
4. Answered
5. Which fandoms have your written fanfiction for? Uhh Twilight, Big Time Rush, Total Drama, Game Grumps, technically AntiPoppy but it’s not even close to done and not published
6. Answered

9. What are the best things about your current fandom? I mean, for this fandom, like I said, it’s got all my friends in it. Everyone’s super supportive and there’s tons of opportunities to get involved and create stuff and support other creators! It’s probably one of the nicest communities I’ve been a part of.
10. Answered
11. Who is your current OTP? Currently I’m still heavily thinking about Hikaru and Haruhi from Ouran Host Club so that I guess haha
12. Who is your current OT3? The all time babes are Rubbercommanderbang. Also Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy is a ship that @cantolopejeevas made me think about and I love
13. Any NoTPs? Refer to this massive post
14. Go on, who are your BroTPs? Hikaru and Kaoru from Ouran, The entirety of the Teen Titans, the monks in Xiaolin Showdown, etc
15. Is there an obscure ship which you love? A n t i P o p p y
16. Are their any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike? I’m more or less indifferent toward Egobang if we’re gonna be real here. I just don’t feel like there’s anything I can add to it at this point.
17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite? I mean, before I knew what that meant, probably RaiKim from Xiaolin Showdown. And they’re still great, but now I’m a little gayer.
18. What ship have you written the most about? Ironically? Probably Egobang. I wasn’t so cynical about it when I first started haha
19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them? Refer to number 16
20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking? Hmm probably like Septibang? Or CommanderSeptiBang?? Those were two ships I just kinda stumbled upon and was like? Okay I guess we’re doing this now??
Also Mae and Selmers from Night in the Woods. Surprisingly wholesome.
21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote? I think I mentioned this before, but it was self-insert Twilight fanfic. Honestly I wish I was just as shameless as I was in middle school. Writing Mary Sue self-insert fic where you ship yourself with a main character is fun and satisfying as hell.
22. Is there anything you regret writing? Aforementioned Twilight fanfiction. Though part of me doesn’t because it was my origin story and also, like I said, shameless and for fun.
23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it. Ahh probably either “You Monster,” which is like my best stuff that I’ve put up so far??? or the massive Big Time Rush fanfic I talk so much about just for the sheer size of it :P
24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit? You Monster!!!! I’m gonna write a redux soon I promise.
25. What’s your most popular fanfic? ???? According to Archive, it’s You Monster! How nice~

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of? Literally anything??? I love all fanart of anything I make??? But I guess You Monster haha
29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not? Hahaha no I don’t write enough to warrant having one. And also I literally almost never edit anything I write rip

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you? Depends!! Sometimes music really confuses my brain and makes me unable to think of words, especially if it’s really word-heavy music (which is most of what I listen to). If I’m really struggling, it usually helps to do it in silence so I can focus. But otherwise, I used to make little playlists of instrumental music to listen to, or play premade playlists of like study music or something.
33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics? I really like writing huuuuge epics/multi-chapters but I’m really bad at finishing things ;--; so most of what gets published are requested one-shots/ficlets (one of which was requested the other day and I’M STILL T R Y I N G I SWEAR)
34. What’s the word count on your longest fic? Oh buddy. It’s over 100K.
35. Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about? Uh I guess? But I’m not particularly stuck to the “required word count” for the different vocab. I usually only write really short things when people request stuff haha. But it’s kinda fun~
36. What’s your favourite genre to write? Probably just straight angst. Angst that develops character, specifically, but angst nonetheless.
37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why? Third person. I used to write in first person and for some reason it always seems less?? effective/neat to me? Plus I write very colloquially and I find it easier to do when I can write in third person.
38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs? Usually canon characters, but if it’s something like Total Drama that depends on constantly changing casts of characters, I’ve definitely made some of my own characters.
39. What is you greatest strength as a writer? Uhhh???? Uhhhh????? Does not compute????
40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing? Effectively capturing characters, at least that fit my own standards. And then also the anxiety that comes along with thinking its good enough to waste people’s time with. :’)
41. List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading: I’m not...currently reading any...but I will link to five of my favs.
1. Before and After (Shaddic) --Total Drama (also tw for a lot of HEAVY mental illness/abuse/violence) 2. Wu Xing Shield (DragonNutt) -- Xiaolin Showdown (tw: death) 3. If Lost, Return to Phil (thatsmistertoyou) - Dan and Phil (I don’t remember, I just remember it being really fucking sad) 4. Two Roads Meet (pianodan) - Dan and Phil (tw: suicide) 5. The Vibe and The Vibe 2: 2Fuck2Vibrator (by our very own @cantolopejeevas) (tw: gratuitous smut ;) )
42. List and link to 5 fanfiction authors who are amazing: 1. @cantolopejeevas / @grumpygamersandvibrantcolors for obvious reasons. they’re just!!! so good!!! at all the types of writing. (hey go commission them) The Ultimate Senpai 2. @i-am-avacado oh boy they angst well! current holder of the angst crown (for nooooow~) honestly writing senpai 3. @devilgate-drive provides the Good Quality Rubbercommanderbang Content and also just generally talented 4. @sweetiefiend writes the cute shit!!! like damn!!!! 5. @autumn-feels so??? talented for her age??? and so deep wtf
43. Is there anyone in your fandom who really inspires you? I mean, all of my friends for one. And my lovely darling @cantolopejeevas who continues to push me forward and compliments my work all the time. But yeah, all my friends make me wanna get better because they’re all so good and I wanna do that tooooo!!
44.  What ship do you feel needs more attention? AntiPoppy. Please.
45. What is your all time favourite fanfic? Fuckin’!!!! Wu Xing Shield, listed above!!! It’s the first fanfic I cried reading!!! And it’s so beautifully written!!! If you like Xiaolin Showdown, I recommend it. Plus, it also took stuff from Xiaolin Chronicles and made it bearable. Bless.
46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why? Ahhh You Monster. It’s probably my best one. Even though it needs heavy editing haha.
47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why? I mean....Fanfiction.net is where it all began, but I never posted anything on it. I think AO3 is the best for posting fics and keeping track of them. But more people usually see it if I post it on my tumblr. So a mixture of those two?
48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not? For the longest time I didn’t because I had major anxiety!!! I was too nervous to leave a comment, no matter what. Plus, I didn’t really make accounts on either ffn or ao3 so I couldn’t have if I wanted to. But now I like leaving tags and stuff on people’s works on tumblr and (if I read more fic) I would leave comments, just because I want people to know they’re doing good work!!
49. Do you care if people comment/reblog your writing? Why/why not? Yeah, I mean, of course! I love seeing comments on all my work, art, writing, or otherwise! It’s just nice to know that someone liked something I made, especially if it’s something I’m self-conscious about like I am with writing. And reblogs help spread it around so it can get more attention, so that’s always helpful!
