Customers are the backbone of any business and of course businesses know that and are very concerned with customer support services. From electronic car toy company to Tesla, every business recognized the importance of customer support services and so AWS does and craft an exclusive cloud service precisely for customer support there comes AWS Connect.
What are AWS Connect?
AWS Connect is a complete customer service portal entirely built for businesses. Businesses can easily get access to AWS connect within a few steps and the pay scale is calculated based upon the usage metrics. In simple terms, AWS connect brings all kinds of customer-related calls and chats under cloud so that the customer support team can help customer anywhere at any time thus everything is stored in cloud.
AWS connect will act as an open source so that users can integrate their account with salesforce. Its fantastic integration features let users provide a highly personalized way of contact and communication. One can connect AWS connect with any other AWS service to bring out innovative features. Let's have a look at them.
AWS & AWS Connect: The Powerful Combo
When we integrate/connect AWS connect with AWS magic will happen. Let's know what are the services that can be integrated with Amazon connect.
AWS Lambda
Users can connect AWS connect with AWS lambda to know more insights outside the AWS connect. This means that you can easily spot out many details like customers' recent activity, their orders and many things even if it is salesforce based.
Amazon S3
Amazon S3, storage service is created in parallel with AWS connect. All the call recordings, conversations in chats are automatically stored in Amazon S3. One can also use Amazon S3 Glacier for prolonged storage.
AWS database
AWS database allows user to check out and have access to all kinds of data in database which is very important in customer support. One can check out former information of any clients via this.
Amazon Kinesis
Once the interaction happens everything is recorded in contact records which are used for real-time and past progress reports. Amazon Kinesis helps out in streamlining that data into AWS database for BI analysis.

What's the concept of AWS Connect?
There must be the intent behind the origin of any tech services. AWS connect holds the following concepts. Amazon itself represents AWS connect as an Omnichannel contact center which provides unified experience for multiple channels. Users can define the flow and can use the same profiles for all channels. The customer service team can handle everything from calls, chats, voice under one dashboard.
The Contact Flow in Amazon Connect.
The contact flow is an overall roadmap for a customer in reaching out the particular customer care. The admin can define the mode of contact with an engaging call to action. Many tools come this way. With Amazon Polly, users can customize pronunciation, pitch, and volume based upon the clients.
In addition, the Connect service offers close to 100 metrics for tracking contact center performance in both historical and real-time reports. These reports can be exported by an administrator and stored in encrypted Simple Storage Service buckets.
Tech Requirements
To get complete access to amazon connect, you need some tech requirements. WebRTC is needed to support various browsers like chrome and Mozilla.
Through an AMCS LLC-provided public switched telephone network, Amazon Connect makes voice communications possible. In addition to text-to-speech (TTS) conversion using Amazon Polly and natural language interactions using Amazon Lex, the service offers dual-tone multi-frequency signals. In order to communicate with customers, contact center agents either utilize a traditional phone or a web-based softphone. A Contact Control Panel is used to oversee these communications.
Amazon Connect interacts with third-party labor management, analytics, and customer relationship management (CRM) technologies in addition to Amazon cloud services.
Pricing details
Amazon connect provides services in all the primary global languages and one can get started with AWS Free tier that offers 30 minutes per month of inbound and outbound calls, 500 messages and 100 tasks. STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS
Tumblr media
Securities exchange
Securities exchange is where individuals purchase/sell portions of openly recorded organizations. It offers a stage to encourage consistent trade of offers. STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS In basic terms, if A needs to sell portions of Reliance Industries, the securities exchange will assist him with meeting the dealer who is happy to purchase Reliance Industries. In any case, note that an individual can exchange the financial exchange just through an enrolled delegate known as a stock intermediary. The purchasing and selling of offers occur through electronic medium. We will examine progressively about the stock intermediaries at a later point.
Significant Stock Exchanges in India
There are two fundamental stock trades in India where larger part of the exchanges happen - STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Aside from these two trades, there are some other provincial stock trades like Bangalore Stock Exchange, Madras Stock Exchange and so forth yet these trades don't assume a significant job any longer.
National Stock Exchange (NSE)
NSE is the main stock trade in India where one can purchase/sell portions of freely recorded organizations. STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS It was built up in the year 1992 and is situated in Mumbai. NSE has a leader record named as NIFTY50. The file contains the main 50 organizations dependent on its exchanging volume and market capitalisation. This list is broadly utilized by speculators in India just as all inclusive as the gauge of the Indian capital markets.
Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)
BSE is Asia's first just as the most established stock trade in India. It was set up in 1875 and is situated in Mumbai. It has an aggregate of ~5,295 organizations rattled off of which ~3,972 are accessible for exchanging as on August 21, 2017. BSE Sensex is the leader list of BSE. STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS It quantifies the presentation of the 30 biggest, generally fluid and monetarily stable organizations across key segments.
Diverse Market Participants
There are a great deal of people and corporate houses who exchange a financial exchange. Any individual who purchases/sells partakes in a securities exchange is named as a market member. A portion of the classes of market members are as per the following:
Local Retail Participants-These are people who execute in the business sectors.
NRI's and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)- These are individuals of Indian beginning who live outside India.
Local Institutions-These are huge corporate substances situated in India (for instance: LIC of India).
Local Asset Management Companies (AMC)- STOCK MARKET FOR BEGINNERS The market members right now be common reserve organizations like HDFC AMC, SBI Mutual Fund, DSP Black Rock and a lot progressively comparative elements.
Remote Institutional Investors-FIIs are Non-Indian corporate substances, for example, outside resource the executives organizations, mutual funds and different financial specialists.

Corporate houses ought not utilize showcases as an intend to unreasonably profit themselves
Little retail financial specialists' advantage is ensured.
Huge financial specialists with colossal money ought not control markets.
Sorts of Financial Intermediaries in the Stock Market
From the time a speculator puts in his request to purchase shares till the time it is moved to his Demat account, various corporate substances are included to guarantee smooth exchange. These substances are known as budgetary delegates and they work as per the guidelines and guidelines endorsed by SEBI. A portion of the money related middle people are talked about underneath:

A stock representative otherwise called a seller is an expert person who purchases/sells shares in the interest of its customers. A stock specialist is enlisted as an exchanging part with the stock trade and holds a stock broking permit. They work under the rules endorsed by SEBI. An individual needs to open exchanging/DEMAT record to execute in the monetary market.
Store and Depository Participants
A Depository is a monetary go-between that offers the administration of DEMAT account. A DEMAT record will have all the offers that a speculator possesses in electronic organization. In India, there are just two depositaries which offers DEMAT account administrations - National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL). A financial specialist can't straightforwardly go to the depositary to open the DEMAT account. He needs to designate a Depository Participant (DP). As per SEBI rules, banks, money related foundations and individuals from stock trades enlisted with SEBI can become DPs.
Banks
Banks help to move assets from a financial balance to an exchanging account. The customer needs to completely make reference to which financial balance must be connected to the exchanging record to the stock specialist at the hour of opening the exchanging account.
National Security Clearing Corporation Ltd (NSCCL) and Indian Clearing Corporation Ltd (ICCL)
NSCCL and ICCL are 100% auxiliaries of National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange separately. They guarantee ensured settlement of exchanges conveyed in stock trades. The clearing partnership guarantees there are no defaults either from purchasers or dealers side.

Hands-On: Accutron Spaceview DNA Electrostatic Watch
For about 10 years in the 1960s, Bulova’s Accutron tuning fork-based watch collection was a star of the timepiece industry. Its popularity and impact on the timepiece market then remains something that collectors and industry folks still talk about today. The “open-view” dial that allowed viewers to see the movement of the original Accutron Spaceview watches was never initially meant to go into production. The open-dial versions of the watch were sales samples intended to help dealers understand that these were not traditional mechanical watches. This marketing exercise turned into a consumer success, and Bulova ended up mostly producing the open-dial Accutron Spaceview watches that collectors think of today.
Bulova re-released a limited-edition Accutron Spaceview a few years ago, which sold out and was very cool given that they needed to both reverse-engineer a tuning fork movement and hand-wrap each copper coil. Nowadays, Accutron is back again but in a slightly different way. The Citizen Group, which owns Bulova, decided to make Accutron its own new brand, officially launching in August 2020. The new Accutron brand will produce a series of traditional and modern-looking watches with an emphasis on the $1,000-plus price point for the “Accutron Legacy” models. More high-end at Accutron are the new Spaceview watches that all have a retail price of over $3,000. What’s the story there?
The most important thing to say is that Accutron will not be focusing on tuning fork electronic watch movements. Rather, the contemporary Accutron Spaceview watches (such as the Spaceview 2020 and the Spaceview DNA models) will have a new movement that is visually reminiscent of the old tuning fork watches but is actually a novel “electrostatic” system that I’ll talk a bit more about below. The Spaceview 2020 watches are meant to look a bit more classic, while these Accutron Spaceview DNA watches have more of a futuristic vibe, the idea being that whereas the original Accutron Spaceview watch was very modern in 1960, the Spaceview 2020 and Spaceview DNA watches are intended to similarly capture the hearts of enthusiasts today.
Bulova’s Accutron Spaceview watch had an amazing run until the late 1960s when quartz-based electronic watches debuted. While both tuning fork and quartz movements use batteries, their regulation systems are distinctive. Tuning fork movements are best known for their sweeping seconds hands and slight buzzing hum that comes from the movements themselves. Quartz watches ended up offering both better battery life and timing performance.
According to Accutron, the new electrostatic motor movements in the Spaceview 2020 and Spaceview DNA movements required about a decade of research and development to make, probably via engineers in Japan (which is exactly who I want designing my electronics hardware, to be honest). So what is an electrostatic movement, anyway? This is gonna take a bit of explaining… OK, so let’s begin with the premise that the movements are quartz-based in terms of the regulation system and are powered by a battery. Only the battery doesn’t need to be replaced because it is recharged kinetic energy. In principle, this is similar to Seiko’s rotor-charged Kinetic quartz movements. This is something a bit different.
The Spaceview electrostatic movements have two small turbine-style rotors that move with the motion of your wrist to create energy. They do this not via a directly connected gear that turns a traditional generator. Rather, they create electrostatic energy which is then captured via dual electrodes and sent to an accumulator, which is where the electricity to power the timing system comes from. I’ve not worn the watch, so I really don’t understand how it performs in terms of battery life (Accutron isn’t really talking about that right now). Accutron does, however, promise accuracy of within five seconds per month — which is about two to three times more accurate than standard quartz movements, though it is not as accurate as the Citizen Caliber 0100 (more high-end) and the Bulova Precisionist (more affordable), which are both part of the same company.
So, why Accutron Spaceview Electrostatic versus other quartz watch movements? It looks cool… Citizen Group is going for an emotional play with the Accutron Spaceview DNA collection. The brand must agree with me that high-end quartz is about to have its heyday among timepiece enthusiasts. What collectors will seek in a high-end quartz movement is visual and intellectual splendor. Just look at the complex and animated dial of the Accutron Spaceview 2020 and DNA watches, and you’ll agree they are nifty. I just also wish the movements came with a more “and Accutron has now solved this problem” engineering story. I’m saying that I want to enjoy the Accutron Spaceview 2020 as a tool as much as a piece of art — just as consumers were able to do with the Accutron Spaceview 1960.
Accutron isn’t under any illusions — the new brand and its flagship movement are going to take a few years to really sink into the watch consumer market. These days, the watch industry is a mixture of products intended to make snappy sales with short-lived appeal and those with a more long-term approach where a new product requires a few years to truly gain momentum with enthusiasts. Accutron has no short-term play here outside of common watch collector novelty value. The Spaceview 2020 and DNA watches, while imminently cool, are also unfamiliar technically and don’t currently fill any particular market gaps.  That translates into a lot of effort needed to first reach and then educate consumers. None of that happens quickly under normal circumstances, and in a world where physical interaction with other watch lovers is on hold for a while, Accutron will be deprived of seeing these interesting watches in action.
Seeing the Accutron Spaceview DNA in person is important because the dial really comes to life when you see it in operation. Bulova wanted to maintain the emotion of tuning fork movements given the sweeping seconds hand. There is also one of the spinning dial turbines that spins as the seconds elapse. Seeing the dial in operation is probably the best part of the Spaceview for 2020 watches, in my opinion.
Detailing for the dials themselves is pretty good. Then again it should be for this price range. The green colors of the Spaceview 2020 watches are reminiscent of the popular originals, while the Spaceview DNA watches use a similar dial design but with a slightly expanded color palette. The rear of the watch is a bit less spectacular. It doesn’t lack design, but rather is a simple solid caseback with a couple of turbine-style ring motifs.
In the future, I’d like to see Accutron engineer a more symmetrical version of the Spaceview dial. I feel this request is acceptable to make at the outset since one of my favorite things about the original Accutron Spaceview watches was, indeed, their dial symmetry. Here, Accutron goes more modern and masculine-rebellious with the style — a look certainly right for some but one that will leave other timepiece traditionalists waiting to see something in the future from Accutron that is intended to match their particular sensibilities.
My primary concern with both the Accutron Spaceview 2020 and DNA watches is the relatively large size of the cases. It isn’t that they are too big, but the proportions are sort of funny on them. My understanding is that this has to do with the size of the movement itself (known as the caliber NS30-Y8A), which case and dial design need to work around. The Spaceview 2020 is going for a more oversized retro case look and is 43.5mm-wide. The Spaceview DNA is even larger at 45.1mm-wide and 15.41mm-thick. Normally, that would not be an issue — but the lugs with integrated strap assembly jut out quite a bit, making the Spaceview DNA watches wear visually quite larger on small- to medium-sized wrists. Those with larger watch tastes and a penchant for quirky and cool electronic toys will certainly get a big kick out of the Accutron Spaceview DNA.
The cases are all steel and offered with various coatings. The various-toned movement dials are topped with a unique domed sapphire crystal, which, despite being AR-coated still has some unavoidable-with-this-crystal-shape glare. At launch, Accutron offers the Spaceview DNA watches as the reference 2ES8A001 (natural steel case with green dial periphery), 2ES8A002 (rose gold-toned case with black dial), 2ES8A003 (mostly black case and dial), and the 2ES8A004 (natural steel case with blue dial).
Accutron is a promising concept that has a ripe market to enter when it comes to interesting watches like this within this price range. It will be up to Accutron to painstakingly explain to consumers why they should care about electrostatic-powered movements and that their design ethos and history is cool. Accutron of today loves showing off the segment from the AMC network television series Mad Men, for which the show’s writers created an actual ad concept for the Accutron of yesterday. A key phrase from the ad is “Accutron: It isn’t just a timepiece, it is a conversation piece,” and this seems to be what drove the creation of the new brand concept and how to position it. It will certainly require a lot of conversation to explain what the Citizen Group has done here, but it should be worth consumers’ time to stick around and give Accutron a chance to demonstrate what it is all about. Price for the Accutron Spaceview DNA watches is $3,300 USD each. Learn more at the Accutron website here.

Procedure for Opening an ETF Account
Concept Gold the evergreen asset is once again being sought as a safe haven by people and governments alike in the face of the recent global economic turbulence. Holding gold in its physical form has many drawbacks that are making alternatives like gold mutual funds, gold ETFs, etc popular. Gold Exchange Traded Funds are open-ended gold funds listed on stock exchanges. They try to track the price of physical gold. Each unit of the fund purchased corresponds to approximately 1 gram of gold. Like shares they can be bought and sold on the exchange. We shall give some insight on how gold ETF works. During the New Fund Offer (NFO) the fund house purchases physical gold from authorized participants for the money that has been collected from investors. The fund's custodian keeps stock of the physical gold. As the price of gold changes through the day the value of ETF units also changes. You can buy units in the demat form. There are 14 Gold ETFs listed on NSE and/or BSE. If all gold ETFs attempt to track the price of gold why do they differ in prices? The difference can be attributed to expense ratios of the funds. Expense ratio is the percentage of operating and management charges paid to the AMC. Bigger the expense ratio, lesser will be your returns. This will be more significant in long term investment due to the effect of compounding. Apart from this the portfolio of funds may also differ. The funds may invest a small portion in cash and money market instruments. What ETFs Are 1. Exchange Traded Funds are open ended mutual funds. They're different from others because they listed on stock exchanges. 2. They can be bought and sold like shares on the exchange and their NAVs change intra-day unlike mutual fund whose NAV applicable for selling or buying is the previous day's NAV. Open a Demat Account 1. If you do not have one already you need to open a demat account with a DP. A demat account holds your physical securities in the electronic form. 2. For Gold ETFs you will need a demat account and a trading account. Gold ETF is considered non-equity and a trading account is necessary for dealing in non-equity securities in the stock exchange. Most providers' offer both accounts but you can choose different providers for both. 3. There is annual maintenance charge (a few hundred rupees every year), transaction charge (0.02% - 0.06%), one time account opening charge and so on associated with the accounts. 4. Your demat account and trading account is linked to your bank account for transaction purpose and some banks may offer a 3-in-1 account of bank account, demat and trading account with a DP. Buying and Selling ETF units 1. Once your demat account and trading account are ready, you can log in to your online trading account and look up the ETFs listed in NSE or BSE. 2. Check price and buy units. Your demat account will show the units in 3-7 days after making payment. Similarly while selling if you get a higher price you can sell the units and the transaction will be effected in a few days time. 3. Gold ETF units represent approximately 1 gram of gold or ½ gram in case of Quantum Gold ETF. Since these ETFs all track the price of gold their prices will be close. Choose the one with the lowest expense ratio and highest trading volume. 4. Selling units before one year will make you liable to pay short term capital gains tax which is always higher than long term capital gains tax.

The whole history of the Ford Mustang, its models and evolutions
The Ford Mustang has been built by the Ford Motor Company since April 17, 1964. It is on this day that Ford presents its new jewelry at the New York World’s Fair. Its construction is initially based on the platform of the Ford Falcon. She is nicknamed the “1964.5 model” (1964 and a half) by her fans.
Since Model A , it’s the most successful launch in the history of the automobile. Also, the Ford Mustang has undergone many transformations to its current model, the fifth of its generation.
The Mustang has created the class “Pony car” (besides the sign on the car is not that of “Ford” but that of a horse, a galloping Mustang) American cars, sports cars like coupes with long, short rear-end covers and competing models such as the GM Chevrolet Camaro , AMC Javelin (javelin), Chrysler’s Plymouth Barracuda and the first generation of the Dodge Challenger . The Mustang is also credited with having inspired coupe designs such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri , which were later imported to the United States.

Executive stylist John Najjar, who was a fan of the World War II P-51 Mustang fighter , is officially credited by Ford for suggesting the name. John Najjar co-designs the first prototype of the Ford Mustang known as the Ford Mustang I in 1961, in collaboration with his compatriot Philip T. Clark. The Mustang I makes its official debut at the US Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, NY, on October 7, 1962, where Formula 1 driver Dan Gurney tries out the second “racing” prototype. . His lap times were only slightly below the pace of F1 cars.
Another opinion claims that it was Robert J. Eggert, then head of market research Ford, who first suggested the name Mustang. Eggert, a breeder of “Quarter Horses”, received for his birthday the book The Mustangs by J. Frank Dobie in 1960. Later, the title of the book gave him the idea to add the name of “Mustang” to the new concept car. The designer initially preferred the name “Cougar” or “Torino” (an advertising campaign using the name “Torino” was actually prepared), while Henry Ford II wanted the name of T-Bird II .
The name can not be used in Germany because it is owned by Krupp, who manufactured trucks between 1951 and 1964 with the name “Mustang”. Ford refused to buy the name for about $ 10,000 at the time. Thus, Mustang was sold in Germany under the name “T-5” until December 1978.
First generation (1964-1973)
As deputy general manager of Lee Iacocca and chief engineer, Donald N. Frey was chief engineer for the T-5 project, overseeing the overall development of the car in record time of 18 months, while Iacocca – even defended the project as general manager of the Ford division. The T-5 was a two-seater prototype, with a mid-mounted roadster engine. This vehicle used the V4 engine of the Ford Taunus (German model) and was very similar in appearance to the future Pontiac Fiero .
The Mustang I then became a four-seater model under the direction of project designer Joe Oros and his team of L. David Ash, Gale Halderman, and John Foster.
Favorable advertising articles appeared in 2,600 newspapers the next morning, the day the car was “officially” revealed. A Mustang also appeared in the James Bond ” Goldfinger ” in September 1964.
To reduce the cost of development and achieve a retail price of US $ 2,368, the Mustang was heavily based on familiar and simple components, many of which were already in production for other Ford models like the Falcon and the Fairlane . Sales forecasts projected less than 100,000 units for the first year, but this mark was exceeded within three months of deployment. Another 318,000 models were sold in the year of launch (a record), and in the first eighteen months, more than one million Mustangs were built.
The overall length of the Mustang and Falcon was equal, but the wheelbase was slightly lower on the Mustang. With a total width of 68.2 inches (1732 mm), it was 2.4 inches (61 mm) narrower. The approximate weight of 2,570 pounds (1,170 kg) with the V6 engine was also the same as the Falcon. The fully equipped V8 model weighed approximately 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg). Although the mechanical parts came from the Falcon, the body of the Mustang was completely different with a lower seating position and a lower total height.
In 1966, Ford designers began to produce larger versions than the original, while the latter was completing good sales. A little later, Iacocca complained about the growth of the Mustang, and had the overhaul supervised in 1967. From 1967 to 1973, the Mustang became longer, but not necessarily more powerful. The new Mustang retains the original structure, but the style is refreshed, giving the Mustang a more massive look. The front and rear are more pronounced, and the interior “twin cove” offers a thicker dashboard, and larger gears. The finishes are more refined for a more assertive style. For the 1968 models, the 1967 body style continues, but details are retouched as the side scoops, the steering wheel and the fuel cap. Side marker lamps were also added this year, and cars built after January 1, 1968 include shoulder straps for both front seats. The 1968 models also introduced a new V8 engine, the 302.
The year 1969 is also that of a new style, but may be more assertive than the previous ones. All this in order to please a larger audience. This model has a more aggressive style and more sport. Until 1973, many versions will make their appearances always in order to answer the expectations of the broad public fan of this automobile of legend. His style being timeless, only minor alterations in the cabin and a few details of the body will be made. Also, the engine will be more and more powerful. For the anecdote, in the movie The Great Casse of 1974, (in English  Gone in 60 Seconds ), the movie that inspired the remake ” 60 Seconds Chrono “, the star character “Eleanor” (1973 model of Mustang FastbackYellow) is the only Ford Mustang in history to receive a celebrity credit in one film, with the other main character Maindrian Pace , played by actor, director and producer Henry Blight Halicki.
Second generation (1974-1978)
Lee Iacocca, who had been one of the key pieces of the original Mustang, became president of the Ford Motor Company in 1970, and ordered a smaller and more fuel-efficient Mustang for 1974. The model was to be based on that of the Ford Maverick , but was ultimately based on that of the Ford Pinto .
The new model, called “Mustang II”, was launched two months before the first oil crisis in 1973, and its small size allows it to compete with imported sports coupes such as the Japanese Toyota Celica or Ford Capri,  European model. Sales for the first year reached 385,993 units (sales of the original Mustang were 418,812 units over twelve months).
Lee Iacocca wanted a model based on the “Mustang I” with higher quality. He wanted to make a little gem. However, to meet the new US rules on CO2 emissions and safety, the new model wants to be smaller but above all heavier than the previous one. Thus the performance of the vehicle is weakened and “the Mustang seems less muscular than is the galloping horse on the emblem”.
The car was available in the coupe and cabriolet versions, plus a Ghia “luxury” model designed by Ghia Ford  recently acquired from Italy. The coupe has been marketed under the name ” Hardtop “. The “Ghia” had a vinyl roof with thick cushions and small rear quarter windows, which gave a more formal look. The amendments made in 1975 included the reinstatement of option V8 302 CID (after having no option V8 in the year 1974) and the availability of an economic option called “MPG Stallion”. Other changes in appearance and performance came with the ” Cobra II ” version in 1976 and 1977, and the ” King Cobra ” version in 1978.
Third generation (1979-1993)
The 1979 Mustang was based on the longest “Fox” platform (originally developed for the 1978 Ford Fairmont and the Mercury Zephyr ). The interior has been redesigned to accommodate the comfort of four people. Available finishes were: L, GL, GLX, LX, GT, GT Turbo (1983-84), SVO (1984-86), Cobra (1979-81, 1989-1993), Cobra R (1993), and Ghia.
The third generation of the Mustang had two different body styles. From 1979 to 1986, the car had a triangle shape at the front with four lighthouses, known by fans as “4 eyes”. Then, the models of the years 1987-1993, with the front more rounded and known under the style “aero”. Also in 1986, the engines held the EFI (electronic injection) instead of carburetors. The 1986 models included an improved 8.8-inch rear, and four dampers.
In response to soaring fuel prices and declining sales during the 1980s, a new Mustang was in development. It was supposed to be a variant of the Mazda MX-6 assembled at the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. Fans have written to Ford to oppose the Japan Mustang project designed without a V8 option. The result was a major rejuvenation of the 1987 Mustang, while the MX-6 variant became the Ford Probe model in 1989 .
Fourth generation (1994-2004)
In autumn 1993, the Mustang underwent its first major overhaul for fifteen years. Named ” SN-95 ” by the automaker, this model is based on an upgraded version of the Fox rear-wheel drive platform called ” Fox-4 “. The new style of Patrick Schiavone incorporates several stylistic elements of previous Mustang models. For the first time since 1974, a hatchback model is not available.
The basic model arrived with a 3.8 OHV V6 engine (232 cid) at 145 hp (108 kW) in 1994 and 1995, or 150 hp (110 kW) (1996-1998), and supplied with a 5-speed manual lever or 4 speed automatic option. Although initially used in the 1994 and 1995 Mustang and Cobra GT, Ford removed the 302 cid V8, after nearly 30 years of use, and replaced it with the new Modular 4.6 L (281 cid) SOHC V8 Mustang GT The 4.6 L V8 was initially rated at 215 hp (160 kW), 1996-1997, but was later increased to 225 hp (168 kW) in 1998.
For 1999, the Mustang receives Ford’s “New Edge” style with sharper outlines, wider rims, new body finishes, but in its basic proportions, a new interior design, and a chassis remaining the same as the previous model. The engines of the Mustang have been postponed to the year 1999, but have benefited from further improvements. The standard V6 3.8L model has a new induction system and has been built to 190 hp (140 kW) (1999 and 2004). In 2001, the horsepower was increased to 193, while the V8 engine of the Mustang GT 4.6L was 260 hp (190 kW) (1999-2004). There were also three other models proposed for this generation: the Bullitt  in 2001, the Mach 1 2003 and 2004, and the 320 hp Cobra for 1999 and 2001, and 390 hp for 2003 and 2004.
Fifth generation (2005-)
For the 2005 model, Ford introduces a revamped version of the Mustang at the  2004 North American International Auto Show , coded “S-197”, based on the new D2C platform. Developed under the direction of Chief Engineer Hau Thai-Tang and exterior stylist Sid Ramnarace, the fifth-generation Mustang echoes the Mustang Fastback models   of the late 1960s. The Vice President of Design, J. Mays, called this “retro-futurism”. The fifth-generation Mustang is manufactured at  AutoAlliance International in Flat Rock, Michigan.
For production years from 2005 to 2010, the base model was powered by a 210hp, 4.0L, V6, cast iron engine, while the GT used a modular 3.6L 3-valve V8 aluminum block. 300 ch.
The 2010 Mustangs were produced in spring 2009 with a redesigned exterior and aerodynamic drag coefficient reduced by 4% on base models and 7% on GT models. The base engine of the Mustang remained unchanged, while that of the GT V8 4.6 L was revised to get 315 hp at 6000 rpm and 325 hp at 4255 rpm. Other mechanical features include new shock absorbers, a new stability control system, new colors, and wheel sizes on all models.
With a more powerful six-cylinder engine, the 2011 Mustang is positioned much more as a performance vehicle than the previous V6 Mustangs. To maximize this potential, the 2011 Mustang will offer the all-new “V6 Performance Pack”, which will be available by the end of summer 2010. It can be compared to the “Mustang GT 2010 Racing Pack”. pack will feature a standard 3.31: 1 rear axle, a stiffer suspension, 19 “wheels with” performance “tires, a strut bar and electronic stability control will be calibrated for performance. In addition, the modifications made (other than on the engine) to the 2011 Mustang include an electric power steering (APES), aerodynamic improvements, but also on noise, vibration and damping,
For 2012, a new version of the Mustang Boss 302 has been launched. The engine has 444 hp. A Laguna Seca  edition is also available.
In the spring of 2012, Ford wanted a refresh of the Mustang line for the future model in early 2013. The Shelby GT500 features a new supercharged 5.8L V8 engine producing 662 hp. Shelby and Boss engines come with a six-speed manual transmission. The GT and V6 models have a revisited style with an added air intake on the 2010-2011 GT500. The 5.0L V8 GT has gained 8 horsepower and now peaks between 412 hp and 420 hp, while the V6 has remained at 305 hp.

Keio University Research: Innovative touch sensitive avatar-robotic arm based on real time haptics
Source: Keio University
(Tokyo, 7 November 2017) Researchers at Keio University’s Haptics Research Center have developed a ‘real-time-avatar-robotic arm’ that transmits sound, vision, and highly sensitive feelings of touch to remotely located users. This innovative touch sensitive robotic technology was reported in the October 2017 issue of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and demonstrated at CEATEC (October 2017, Tokyo). The technology is expected to find applications in areas such as industrial manufacturing, harvesting farm produce, and nursing care.
Keio Research Highlights

Video showing the movement of the avatar robotic arm.
There is demand for robotic technology to overcome the daunting challenges of the 21st century such as providing care for the elderly in rapidly aging industrialized nations, supporting labor intensive agriculture, and responding to extreme emergencies where humans cannot intervene directly, such as nuclear power station disasters.
With this background, a growing number of researchers are focussing on the potential of ‘haptics’— man-machine communication based on touch—to solve these and related problems. In its simplest form, haptics enables users to feel the sense of touch via vibrations of forced motion. Such technology employs touch sensors that can be difficult to calibrate and often malfunction in extreme environments such as heat and radiation. Furthermore, conventional haptics technology is based on vibrations and is pseudo-tactile. So, although it can be used for games and entertainment, its range of industrial applications is very limited.
Takahiro Nozaki and colleagues of the Faculty of Science and Technology and Haptics Research Center at Keio University developed a haptic-based avatar-robot with a General Purpose Arm (GPA) that transmits sound, vision, movement, and importantly, highly sensitive sense of touch (force tactile transmission), to a remotely located user in real time. “This ‘real-haptics’ is an integral part of the Internet of Actions (IoA) technology, having applications in manufacturing, agriculture, medicine, and nursing care,” says Nozaki.
This is the world’s first high precision tactile force transmission technology that remembers human movements, edits them, and reproduces them. Also, this arm does not employ conventional touch sensors, thereby making it cheaper, more compact, and robust with respect to malfunction and noise.
The core technology behind this avatar-robot is based on high precision motors integrated in the avatar arm and algorithms to drive them. High precision control of force and position is critical for transmitting a sense of touch without using touch sensors.
Nozaki and colleagues have launched ‘Motion Lib’ to commercialize their ‘real-haptics technology’. The main product is an integrated chip called the ‘ABC-CORE’ IC force/tactile controller. This IC chip controls the force adjustment of DC/AC servomotors and forces tactile transmission with two motors synchronized in motion. Importantly, since the load force applied to the motor is calculated by an algorithm in the chip, it is not necessary to install force or torque sensors.
Background
High precision robotic arms are widely used in industry, for repetitive actions in automobile assembly lines, for example. However, such robotic arms only repeat a preprogramed series of commands, grabbing well-defined, solid components used for constructing cars.
The challenge is to be able to recognize the shape, material composition—soft or hard— and position of an object, and manipulate it according to real-time instructions from a user located at a distance from the arm, where the arm acts as a real-time avatar.
The critical technical breakthroughs in motor control and robotics for the robotic-avatar developed by Nozaki and co-workers were first reported by Keio University’s Kouhei Ohnishi, in 1983 in a paper titled, “Torque –speed regulation of DC motor based on load torque estimation method” (lPEC― Tokyo'83, page 1209).
Ohnishi continued to develop his ideas in his 1993 paper on ‘sensorless torque control’ (IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 40, 259, (1993)).
This report was followed by his proposals for ‘motion control in mechatronics’ (IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, 1, 56, (1996)).
Then, in 2004, Ohnishi addressed the issue of ‘good sense of remote objects’ in AMC 2004– Kawasaki, Japan.

This Grand National ‘Coulda Had a V8…And Got One
“I can’t believe you chopped it up!” That’s a common cry overheard when standing near, oh say a 1953 Corvette, Tri-Power GTO, or matching-numbers Mustang Cobra Jet that’s been radically modified by its owner. Though these cars are a significant part of American automotive history, the fact is; car owners are free to restore or modify as they see fit.
When it comes to the Buick Regal Grand National, Turbo T, T-Type, WE4 Turbo Regal and GNX, anybody over the age of 30 certainly remembers them as the most potent Detroit muscle offerings of the ‘80s. And while Buick’s Flint, Michigan assembly plant cranked out over 50,000 of these growling, bent-six powered stormers between 1982 and 1987, today they’re much more than fun used cars. In fact, low mile 1987 GNX’s (the epitome of Buick’s shenanigans with these last-gasp rear wheel drive machines) now command over $100K on the collector car auction scene.
So when we heard that the guys at NextGen Performance, a leading go-to LS conversion shop in Spencer, Massachusetts (774/745-0405) were putting a clean, low-mile 1982 Regal Grand National under the knife, we had to document the process. After all, the 1982 Grand National was the very first of the breed and is by far, the most rare. But does rarity equate to desirability and value? For some perspective, lets review annual Regal muscle car output, working backwards from 1987 to 1982.
In 1987, the turbo 3.8 Regal’s final year, 20,194 GN’s, 8,547 T-Types, and 547 ultra-potent GNX’s were built. Working back a year, in 1986 the totals were 5,512 GN’s and 2,384 T-Types. Going further back, in 1985, the GN and T-Type lacked the intercooler and SEFI (sequential electronic fuel injection) of the ’86 and ’87 but 5,512 GN’s and 2,100 T-Types still found homes. Before that, 1984 saw production of 2,000 GN’s and 3,401 T-Types, which added some color and flair to the GN’s blackout attire.
Going back to 1983, while Ford’s Mustang GT grew a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and Chevrolet whipped up the aero-enhanced Z65 Monte Carlo SS, exactly zero Regal Grand Nationals were built. Instead, Buick unveiled the Regal T-Type. With its AiResearch turbo blowing through a 4-barrel carb, new 4-speed overdrive automatic and 3.42 axle ratio, 15 second quarter mile times were possible for the first time since the last GS455 of the previous decade. Eager customers bought 3,732 of them.
Which brings us all the way back to 1982. Buick was kicking butt on the NASCAR race circuit as Richard Petty (1981) and Cale Yarborough (1982) cinched Manufacturers’ Cups for Buick. Prior to this, the only Buicks associated with NASCAR were found on the sleepy side of the grand stands- in the parking lot.
To celebrate the massive performance turn around, Buick whipped up the 1982 Grand National, a special version of the two door Regal named in honor of the superspeedway race series. Unlike the NASCAR-themed Chevy Monte Carlo SS (of 1983) and Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 (of 1986), which relied exclusively on Chevy 305 V8 power, Buick went with V6’s all the way through the GN’s production run. About that V6- it first appeared in 1961 aboard Buick’s senior compact, the Special and Skylark. At 198 and 225 cubes, it saw duty as Buick’s base engine offering through 1967. An odd-fire unit, the buzzy nature of the beast bucked Buick’s upscale vibe, so in 1967 GM sold the V6 engine program – including the assembly and machine lines – to Kaiser-Jeep. After shipping the V6 factory by rail from Buick’s Flint, MI home to Kaiser’s digs in Toledo, Ohio, the ex-Buick V6 became optional in the CJ and Jeepster for many years. In 1969, American Motors (AMC) bought Kaiser-Jeep, and with its line of 199-, 232- and 258-inch inline six cylinder engines, Jeep had no further need for the raspy, odd-fire V6. After 1972, AMC retired the V6 and put its’ manufacturing line in mothballs. Meanwhile, back at Buick, the mid-seventies OPEC gas crisis found its 350 and 455 V8’s too thirsty and too big for the downsized models being planned, so in a bizarre twist, GM President Ed Cole authorized the re-purchase of the slumbering V6 engine program from AMC in 1974.
By 1975, the V6 production lines had been transferred back to Flint, MI and Buick’s second V6 era began. At first, the obsolete, odd-fire crankshaft was employed, but by 1978, a smoother even-fire unit took its place. 1978 also brought the first turbocharged V6, laying the groundwork for the Grand National / T-Type / Turbo T dynasty to follow. Utilizing a single AiResearch turbo and blow-through plumbing, two distinct turbo engines were offered for 1978. The first utilized a Rochester 2-barrel carburetor and single exhaust with 6.9 to 7.9-psi boost that delivered 150 hp. Only available in 1978, Regals with this engine carry engine code G in fifth spot of VIN. The second turbo V6 offering employed a Rochester Quadrajet and had dual tailpipes (yet with a single catalytic converter). With 7.9 to 8.8-psi boost, it delivered 165 hp and carried engine code 3 in the fifth spot of VIN. To spread the V6 gospel, Buick even offered the turbo-boosted V6 in full size rear wheel drive offerings like the LeSabre but, unfortunately, never aboard the small Monza-based Skyhawk hatchback where it would have been a performance sensation.
Getting back to our feature car, the very first Regal Grand National was unveiled on February 10, 1982 as the official pace car for the Daytona 500. As usual, a limited run of street-going Pace Car commemorative editions were built. At first, 100 cars were planned, but strong demand stretched that number to 215 units. To handle this limited run of non-standard cars, Buick contracted with Cars & Concepts in Auburn Hills, MI where the special two-tone Silver Mist-on-Charcoal Gray paint scheme was applied along with unique leather covered Lear Siegler seats and special interior markings.
Under the hoods of those 215 Grand Nationals, one might expect to see turbocharged V6’s, right? Not so fast. For reasons yet unknown, the vast majority of these cars were naturally aspirated. According to turbobuicks.com, which keeps a registry of all things related to these mighty Buicks, only 35 debut-year GN’s were powered by the LC8 turbocharged 231 V6. Oddly, the rest were naturally aspirated. Quick identifiers were domed hoods on turbos and flat skins for naturally aspirated cars. Also, the eighth character of the VIN read 4 for non-turbos and 3 for boosted heroes. But all was not lost. Instead of the ho-hum 3.8 liter (231 cube) V6, Buick gave the naturally aspirated GN the “big” 4.1 liter (252 cube) V6 from its full size passenger cars. Okay, so it wasn’t quite like putting a 455 in the place of a 350, but the idea was there. The extra cubes delivered 125 horsepower and 205-lb/ft of torque. Interestingly, this bigger V6 was never offered with a turbo, and it never got an external fender emblem denoting its 4.1 liters in Regal applications. And get this: the 252’s Rochester Q-Jet rode atop a cast aluminum intake manifold. This makes the 1982 GN a special car in our book, even without the turbo. The 1982 GN is also the only member of the Grand National family without overdrive. Its old school TH350 automatic was strictly 1:1 in top gear, though 1982 did bring a fuel saving lock-up torque converter to all Regals. Out back, the 1982 GN carried the standard, light-duty 10-bolt rear axle with its puny 7.50-inch ring gear. At least 3.08 gears replaced the mid-two series cogs usually installed. The stronger 8.5-inch 10-bolt and 3.42 limited slip rear end that came in later GN’s and T’s was still a year away.
Okay, so what would you do with a well-preserved, debut-year Grand National? Since this is Car Craft magazine and not Muscle Car Review, you know what’s coming. When car owner Buck Anderson approached NextGen Performance, he told NextGen’s Josh and Eric Buzzell he was tired of getting pushed around by soccer moms in mini vans, and despite the decent stock 11-inch front disc brakes, the 9.5-inch rear drum brakes just didn’t inspire confidence under extreme conditions. Action was necessary.
So the fix was in. After an intense eight week transformation, the super scarce GN emerged with a full mechanical makeover. An all-aluminum, 400 horsepower LS2 replaced the 125 horsepower 4.1 “big block” six popper, a 4L65E 4-speed automatic – with overdrive – replaced the Turbo 350 and out back, a beefy Ford 9-inch puts the torque to the tarmac. Sure, the purists may say the world has lost another rarity, but since NextGen made sure to retain the GN’s unique exterior graphics and interior, the car’s true identity hasn’t been lost. Heck, the guys even retained the specific GN wheels and fourteen-inch tires. Visually, the car retains its spirit and character. But thanks to the Gen III heart transplant, there will be no more embarrassment at stoplights. Better still, with the 4L65E’s overdrive top gear, 20-plus m.p.g. is possible…as long as car owner Buck Anderson can keep his right foot off the carpet.
Tech Notes
Who: Buck Anderson What: 1982 Buick Regal Grand National Where: Rutland, MA
Engine: A stock 6.0 liter LS2 was pulled from a lightly wrecked 2008 Pontic G8 GT and refreshed with an LS3 cam and LS6 valve springs. The stock variable valve timing and active fuel management functions have been eliminated. Hooker cast iron exhaust manifolds (PN 8501) feed a Hooker Black Heart G-body dual exhaust system (PN 70501363) with an X-merge. Holley also supplied the cast aluminum LS-to-G-body retrofit oil pan (PN 302-2). The LS-to-1978-1988 G-body engine mount brackets are from Hooker (PN 12643).
Transmission: Though Tasca Ford is known for its legendary Ford SS, FX, Funny Car and modern day Factory Stock Cobra Jet Mustang exploits, Rhode Island’s Tasca family also owns a Chevrolet franchise in Woonsocket. Who knew? That’s where the Chevrolet Performance 4L65E automatic transmission and Supermatic 2,000 rpm stall converter came from. A Hooker 4L60 transmission cross member (PN 12644) nails it down.
Rearend: A complete G-body Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance houses a clutch-type Traction Lock differential and 3.70 gears. Ford-sourced disc brakes replace the puny 9.5 inch rear drums. The Driveshaft Shop built the custom 3 inch diameter steel linking the 9 inch and 4L65E transmission.
Suspension: Thanks to the LS2’s mostly aluminum construction, nose weight is unchanged and there was no need to bolster the coil springs. Stock replacement Dorman front control arms, QA1 coil springs and KYB gas shocks deliver a stock ride height. Out back, the stock control arms were boxed using weld-in web braces from Bear Metal. A QA1 rear sway bar, SPC Performance Pro Coil springs and KYB gas shocks yield improved handling without compromising ride height.
Wheels/Tires: Though tempted to deviate, the final choice was made to retain the 14×6 cast aluminum wheels that were one of the first GN’s key identifiers. They mount to 215/70R-14 Radial T/A skins from BF Goodrich.
Paint/Body: A New England car, minor floor pan rust was fixed with Sherman and Associates patch panels. Goodmark Industries reproduction chrome bumpers and bumper gap fill plugs from Highway Stars help hide the federally mandated 5-mph bumpers. A Glasstek fiberglass power dome hood shaved 20 pounds off the nose. Randy Beaudroin at Drag Graphix (N. Brookfield, MA 508/867-0490) applied the GN’s 1982-only two-tone paint scheme and shadowed Buick quarter panel logo.
Interior: The refreshed stock interior retains the GN-specific leather seats, plus dove gray carpeting from ACC. A used 1985GN console shift lever and quadrant indicator window suit the overdrive transmission. As a reminder of how very far we’ve come, the original government-mandated 85 mph speedometer is retained.
Performance: Car owner Buck Anderson hasn’t been to the strip yet, but on the SMG Motoring DynoJet chassis dyno the mildly modified 6.0 made 369 hp @ 5500 rpm and 376.4-lb/ft of torque at 4600 rpm. On slicks, mid-thirteens are expected. Despite the tires’ smallish contact patch braking is much improved over stock.
Though non-turbo GN’s were built with the standard flat-skin Regal hood, NextGen couldn’t resist the temptation to add a Glasstech fiberglass replica.
The 3-piece trunk spoiler arrived in 1982 and became a familiar sight to drivers of stock Mustang 5.0’s and Tuned Port F-Bodies – especially after the 1986 arrival of intercoolers.
Emulating the Plymouth, Dodge, and Ford quarter panel graphics pioneered by NASCAR racers in the sixties, the GN appearance package included huge Buick logos. They were expertly applied in paint by Randy Beaudroin of Drag Graphix. Buick abandoned them when the GN went mainstream in 1984.
A response to the exotic Recaro seats used in certain Ford sporty cars, the GN’s Lear Siegler bucket seats have adjustable bolsters, which are controlled by the black twist knobs. In 1984, Buick added Lear Siegler buckets to the Regal option sheet for $600. By contrast, the basic GM front bucket seats cost $195.
All 1982 GN’s were supposed to feature a unique Grand National decoration in the right hand instrument pod. But a small number – including our feature – received an analog clock instead. These GN’s are unique for having two clocks facing the driver. The second one is located in the digital cassette stereo at the head of the center console.
Part of Cars and Concepts GN rework included extra plush leather and velour rear seats – even in the back.
Though surprisingly solid for a New England car, chronic wet carpets triggered floor pan rust that was cured with patch panels.
The last Buick drop-out style (Hotchkis) rear axles vanished with the 1965 Riviera. But thanks to its weld-on upper control arm mounting ears, a Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance works with the Regal’s four link rear suspension. The 3.70 ratio is tamed by the 4L65E’s 0.70:1 overdrive ratio, which behaves like a 2.59:1 cog in fourth.
New replacement rear control arms are bolstered by laser-cut insert braces from Bear Metal and welded in place by Eric Buzzell.
Inside the 4L65E transmission, a Chevrolet Performance converter combines a 2,800 rpm stall speed and lock-up feature for hard launches and efficient highway cruising.
The 6.0 liter LS2’s variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation features were eliminated. A stock LS3 cam and LS6 valve springs work with Hooker cast iron headers to deliver about 430 horsepower (369 at the tires). To read how NextGen eliminated the cylinder deactivation system, see the story in the July 2017 issue of Car Craft (Full Displacement Demand, pps. 16-22).
A high capacity aluminum / plastic radiator and Derale electric fan cools the LS2. GM pioneered the cross flow radiator on U.S. cars in the mid-sixties. Chrysler and Ford retained taller, less efficient top-tank radiators for several years after.
After toying with modern mega hoops and rubber band tire sidewalls, the guys eventually opted to keep the stock 14-inch rims and modern-retro Radial T/A’s. They’re excellent for the intended purpose of fun street cruising and even clear the disc brake upgrades.
New in 1981, the Regal’s aerodynamic waterfall grille helped Buick emerge as a major NASCAR player. Its dominance triggered the 1983 Monte Carlo SS to help Chevrolet racers keep up.
Josh and Eric Buzzel (L / R) started NextGen Performance in 2012 to specialize in Gen III engine swaps and other late model performance vehicle upgrades. Though they also welcome old school points-and-carburetor customer projects, on the day of the shoot a Porsche 911 arrived for an LS7 engine swap. These guys can handle it all.
Look close at the upper left hand corner of the factory emissions certification sticker for the nifty 4.1-liter marking. Usually reserved for full size models, it gave the naturally aspirated GN a little extra go. The 4.1 (252 cubic inch) V6 shared its 3.4 inch stroke with the more common 3.8 (231 cubic inch) unit, but its 3.965-inch bore was a full 0.165-inch larger than the 3.8’s 3.80 inch diameter.
Fully aware of this launch-edition GN’s rarity, NextGen carefully stored the stock 4.1 V6 and related parts. Dig the aluminum intake manifold. Rated 125 hp at 4,000 rpm and 205 lb-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm, 0-60 came in 11 seconds, the quarter mile in 17.8. For contrast, a fresh Turbo Regal tested in the Feb. 1982 issue of Motor Trend got to 60 mph in 9.6 seconds and ran the quarter in 17.3 seconds.
The stock 7.5-inch rear axle was also packed away for a mechanical restoration that will probably never happen. Though Buick offered 3.23 cogs at no extra charge, this cruiser packed the standard GN 3.08 ratio and open differential. The G80 limited slip unit cost an extra $80.
A year before the 1982 Grand National’s arrival, Buick paced the 1981 Indy 500 with this one-off creation. Surprisingly it’s 4.1 liter V6 wasn’t turbocharged. Instead, Buick teamed with Baker Engineering (Grand Rapids, MI) on its carbureted 281 horsepower V6. Oddly, Buick didn’t follow up with the usual limited production run of street-spec replicas.
