"After the First World War, the map of Europe was re-drawn and several new countries were formed. As a result of this, three million Germans found themselves now living in part of Czechoslovakia.

When Adolf Hitler came to power, he wanted to unite all Germans into one nation.

In September 1938 he turned his attention to the three million Germans living in part of Czechoslovakia called the Sudetenland. Sudeten Germans began protests and provoked violence from the Czech police. Hitler claimed that 300 Sudeten Germans had been killed. This was not actually the case, but Hitler used it as an excuse to place German troops along the Czech border.

Things that happened in September 1938:

Sept 7. On instructions from Hitler, Konrad Henlein broke off negotiations with the Czech government. Allegations of Czech police brutality at Moravská Ostrava were used as an excuse

Sept 7. A famously controversial editorial appeared in The Times which recommended giving Hitler what he wanted because "the advantages to Czechoslovakia of becoming a homogenous State might conceivably outweigh the obvious disadvantages of losing the Sudeten German districts of the borderland."

Sept 13. French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier asked Neville Chamberlain (leader of Czechoslovakia) to make the best deal he could with Hitler.

Sept 20. The Czechoslovak government rejected the Anglo-French proposal in a note explaining that acceptance would mean that Czechoslovakia would be put "sooner or later under the complete domination of Germany."

Sept 20. Hitler met with the Polish ambassador Józef Lipski and told him that Germany would support Poland in a conflict with Czechoslovakia over Teschen. Hitler also said he was considering shipping Europe's Jews to a colony (Israel, a colony for Europe's displaced Jewish population would be established in 1948) and expressed hope that Poland would cooperate with such a plan. Lipski replied that if Hitler could solve the Jewish question, the Poles would build a monument to him in Warsaw

September 26. In the Berlin Sportpalast, Hitler made a speech threatening Czechoslovakia with war. "My patience is exhausted", Hitler declared. "If Beneš does not want peace we will have to take matters into our own hands.

Sept 27th. The French government announced that France would not enter a war purely over Czechoslovakia. Neville Chamberlain gave a radio address saying, "However much we may sympathize with a small nation confronted by a big and powerful neighbor, we cannot in all circumstances undertake to involve the whole British Empire in a war simply on her account. If we have to fight it must be on larger issues than that

Sept 27. President Franklin Roosevelt writes to German Chancellor Adolf Hitler regarding the threat of war in Europe. The German chancellor had been threatening to invade the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia and, in the letter, his second to Hitler in as many days, Roosevelt reiterated the need to find a peaceful resolution to the issue.

Sept 29. German Führer Adolf Hitler, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier and Italian Duce Benito Mussolini met in Munich to settle the Sudetenland crisis. Czechoslovakia was not invited, neither was the Soviet Union.

Sept 30. Munich Agreement: At 1 a.m., the four powers at Munich agreed that Czechoslovakia would cede the Sudetenland to Germany by October 10. The territorial integrity of the rest of Czechoslovakia was guaranteed by all signatories. Neville Chamberlain flew back to Britain and declared "peace for our time"

I think we all deeply need to reconsider what we were taught about WW2. The allies who "saved" everyone from Hitler's camps are also the Same People who allowed him to get so much power in the first place.

Closer looks at these histories show they had their own motives for allowing it just like Biden does today. FDR & Biden are actually mirroring each other really well considering they're separated by time and death. FDR was pleading and asking Hitler to please stop doing war until Pearl Harbor cuz they had a good relationship like that :) Yeah, so all he really did up to that point was play arms dealer for France and Britain because he didn't wanna jeopardize his relationship with Germany by Directly getting involved.

Maybe a hot take but I think Rytlock gets way too much shit from some people. Like, sure he's had his fuckups IS a bit of a fuckup but he's also been one of our most steadfast allies ever since Heart of Thorns. The only times he's been away (since he officially joined the group) have been EoD and Season 3, both of which are understandable given in the former he's still recovering from his cub dying and in the latter he is literally dragged off by the citadel. All other times he's been very much ready to follow us to the ends of Tyria, moreso than anyone else except Taimi. And doing so obviously came with great personal sacrifice, like when he said "I gave up everything to fight beside you!" he wasn't lying, he would have had much greater standing with the charr if he hadn't spent years away fighting with us. Personally, I think that should be appreciated a bit more.

It’s been six months since the start of this war, and I want to talk about the gaslighting tactics used by the pro-Palestinians against Jews.

There are three types of gaslighting I have seen employed by this cult like group, I call them. “Changing history” “changing definitions,” and “changing emotions.”

First changing history.

Pro-Palestinians have a constant need to erase the history of the Jewish people, and they don’t want to seem to learn.

One thing they love to erase, is the history of the Jewish people in Israel. They claim Palestine is the indigenous name, but don’t acknowledge how it came because the Greeks wanted to mock the Jews after their second revolt.

Even if they know that, they change it to fit their narrative, “well it’s been called Palestine longer,” or “It was called Palestine long enough and Palestinians have lived there long enough.” Sayings like that erase the history, and gaslights Jews and other people into falling for the propaganda and erasure.

They also love to gaslight people and Jews into changing Jewish history into their own. The 12 tribes of Israel are a well documented thing, something that dates back millennia, but many are now claiming it was the ten tribes of Palestine, or how somehow arabs were their first.

When you question it, you are now a “white supremacist,” “genocide apologist,” and “zionazi.” The erasure of history and the gaslighting to continue erasing that history is something prevalent in the free Palestine movement.

Changing definitions.

They have a special love for the changing of definitions with important historical context and meaning.

Three prominent changings are “Zionist,” “Holocaust,” and “Nazi.”

First, Zionist. Zionism is something that has deep and historical significance and implications, both in religious and non-religious Jewish communities. Two basic definitions of it are “A Jewish right of return to their ancestral homeland, and a right to live there,” the second one, which is what most pro-Palestinians sorta think of when they hear the word, “a political movement to establish and preserve the state of Israel.”

These are two very broad terms, and the word and meaning can vary from Jew to Jew. But somehow pro-Palestinians don’t want to hear out Jews, they just want to be fed black and white propaganda. So in their minds they associate Zionists with Palestinian baby murderers who drink blood, and they gaslight and manipulate Hews and other people into thinking that.

Second, Holocaust. The Holocaust is word to describe the Nazi backed genocide that killed 11 million people of varying groups. That is it. That is the definition. But pro-Palestinians don’t want it to be that way, they want it to be a catch all term for genocide.

They gaslight people and other Jews into believing that. So instead of a devastating event, that destroyed mostly Jewish lives, it is now a term that should be used to describe the word in Gaza and a catch all term for a Genocide.

(But oddly enough they won’t use it to describe the Ugyar genocide in China, only one committed by Jews.)

Last but definitely not least, Nazi. Nazi like Zionist and Holocaust has a deep historical and political history, and the pro-Palestinians change that and gaslight you into believing that too. Nazi is a certain type of fascism created by Adolf Hitler and other members of the Third Reich, deeply intwined with a dangerous level of antisemitism,

That is it, that is the definition. But so many pro-Palestinians use it as a catch all term for fasicst, specifically a Jew they considered a “fascist.”

Changing emotions

This cult like group loves to manipulate and gaslight people emotions.

Two examples I have seen employed commonly are “yeah, October 7th was bad, but have you heard what the IDF was doing in Gaza,” or “History will not look down kindly on you.”

The first one is one of the cruelest, it shows the lack of care and ability to gaslight the Jewish community. They don’t want to focus on the tragedy of October 7th because they don’t see the Israelis as human. They gaslight Jews and Israelis into thinking October 7th wasn’t bad by trying to show how bad the situation in Gaza is. A pathetic method.

The second one is another particularly cruel one. It tries to make Jews fear for their future more. It tells us that history will once again want to kill us, and want us destroyed. It tries to make us look like the nasty genocidal maniacs in this situation instead of them.

Why are Girondins so annoying?

Seriously, tho... Not sure why (if?) others find them annoying so I can't comment on that (I have some ideas, but I can't speak for others). Personally, I am not an expert on Girondins so I don't focus on them so much. I don't think they were "the best option" (not with the whole "protect propertyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!1111" shit that they had going on), and I disagree with a lot of stuff, though I do think some of them had some based takes.

But honestly? I am mostly annoyed at today's (mis)understanding of Girondins and flop takes that come with it. They are somehow remembered as these level-headed, "good" revolutionaries who want change but through democratic TM and not violent means... When they are the group who advocated for the fucking war that claimed hundreds of thousands of people (and also messy bitches who attacked their opponents - they were not somehow above that stuff).

Look. I love learning and researching frev. I like it even when the content is difficult or when I disagree with historical people. It's just so interesting to me. But I have a short patience for flop takes about frev that are just factually incorrect but try to sound profound (or, worse, like activism). Bad "feminist" takes are there, but also a lot of bullshit and misinformation about other things. Liking Girondins is often not about Girondins at all - it is about criticizing Montagnards, which is often based on incorrect info (biased Anglo takes, Thermidorian takes, horribly inaccurate online takes, etc.) If one wants to hate frev/Montagnards/Robespierre/whoever, be my guest, but at least be correct about it. Unfortunately, Girondins attract a lot of bad/incorrect takes precisely because of their reputation as "good" revolutionaries, which means people interpret them through today's lens, which in turn makes it very, very annoying to read.

I just got reminded about one of the funniest bits of lore from the Assassin's Creed games. Canonically, they confirm the real world conspiracy theory that the dead guy in Hitler's bunker at the end of WWII isn't Hitler, but actually his body double to be true in the game world. However, after killing his double, Hitler walks out of the bunker to escape and is immediately killed by an Assassin. Like he gets about 200 feet into his plan to fake his death and escape capture before getting stabbed in the neck and dying.

The early games loved conspiracy theories so much that you expect them to play this straight and have Hitler get away, but no. He tries. He dies.
