Nanami Kento lays motionless on the ground, his breathing shallow and erratic. A flurry of thoughts race through his mind in fits and bursts. He should get up. It’s time to tap out. Others need him. He has done enough.

“Nanami, can you hear me?” A voice, gentle yet urgent, cuts through the haze in his mind. Is that… Shoko? Kento’s eyelids flutter open, a faint groan escaping his lips as he slowly regains awareness. His vision blurs; the pulsing pain coursing through his body making it hard to focus. Yet, he feels the warmth of Shoko’s touch, firm and reassuring against his face.

“Ieiri…san,” he murmurs, voice barely audible over the blood rushing to his head. When he tries to lift his hand to reach hers, his strength falters.

“Stay till. You’ll open up your wounds.” Kento manages a weak nod, letting his arm drop in compliance. Despite the pounding ache at the back of his skull, a sense of calm washes over him. Everything will be fine. The thought is cemented with he feels the thrum of her technique come to life under the pads of her fingers.

“The others?” he rasps, and the withering look Shoko gives him in return makes him flinch.

“Don’t worry about the others. Focus on yourself.” Her voice remains steady despite the underlying concern. After a pause, she continues with a muttered, “Everyone’s alright. Except you.”

A faint smile tugs at his lips, thankful for the update. As he closes his eyes, drifting between consciousness and a whirl of nothing, he finds comfort in Shoko’s presence and the assurance that everyone else is okay.
