Last week Oliver took over the ABC Insta to watch the premiere with Ryan and Kenny and this week he's lying on the couch with a cool washcloth on his forehead and popping a Xanax because he had to spend all afternoon yanking on Ryan's invisible leash and wishing the ABC press team understood that corralling a human being with a Chaos Agenda is much harder than corralling three dogs that just want to Enjoy the Walkies.

holy shit seeing everyone go batshit crazy over Chris in the new chapter is HYSTERICAL
I can already see people jumping on the Chris Sucks train because (before the edit was made) Chris doing a favor for felix definitely feels like a slap in the face for Isaac (and for Isaac it probably will be! Even if he doesn't remember mentioning Felix by name, he's probably gonna be pissed (or at least roll his eyes really hard) but people I am begging you to remember that 1) Isaac was not a great friend either. Hell, he's not even doing a great job at being a good friend to Drew right now. There's plenty of reasons for why he acts like this, his past friends, for example; he does seem to have a classic case of attachment issues, and those are sympathizable reasons! But he's still acting kind of like a dick, and he was also kind of a dick while hanging out with Chris. 2) Yes, Chris is flighty and also was not a great friend to Isaac, he's got his own list of problems for sure; BUT if he was not happy in the relationship he had with Isaac, he has every right to leave that relationship! It doesn't matter if it'll hurt Isaacs feelings because of his past. He's not obligated to be friends with anyone he doesn't want to be friends with. Was slowly ignoring him more and more as time went on a shitty way of going about breaking off their friendship? Definitely, 100%. Is Isaac also allowed to be hurt by this? Absolutely, I don't see why he wouldn't be; but they're BOTH in the wrong to some degree.
TL;DR - Both Chris and Isaac fucked up their friendship, Chris is not wholly a shitty person for it and Isaac is not wholly a victim just because this isn't the first time this has happened to him. Teenagers are Assholes, shocking!
extra note: this is not a drama post, nor am i targeting anyone specifically! i obviously can't change how you view or portray a character, do whatever you want forever, etc etc.

With the fact starbreeze keeps showing Houston's mask they have an opportunity to do something really funny
Early in the game lifespan they give us "Houston", who is INTENTIONALLY voiced by someone new, maybe give them a more southern accent (get the pd2 beta dallas va or smth) and have it actually be a THIRD steele sibling. Something something rule of three
Plus some sort of heist in a prison to try to get gold in the warden's office or something and also breaking out the actual Houston in the process would be pretty sick I think
Insert joke about that mask being fucking cursed here

something something some yakuza antagonists ideals are completely valid and if they just went about them a different way the whole situation wouldnt have been life or death something something. something something i will agree with an antag (nishiki WHO SAID THAT) more if their reasoning behind what theyre doing is solid enough (yeah girl be mentally ill i support you i'll get you help too) something something
this goes for outside of yakuza too idk why im adding it but like. personally i love antags more than the protags because 1 more interesting 2 bro 99% of the time theyre just so mentally unwell if they had help as a child or just someone by their side supporting them enough in life they wouldnt be doing any of that shit 3 half the time theyre just. right. about the status of things? and i got that autistic sense of justice behind me so i automatically side with them like they go about it the wrong way but theyre right my bad 4 not all antags are evil even theyre literally there because the protaganist needs a foil the whole light needs dark dark needs light thing blah blah 5 theyre bad bitches i cant deny a bad bitch their non-heroic deeds.
i need to type up another slideshow about the intricacies of characters and why so and so did what they did or why so and so shouldnt be faulted for their ideals. god i love writing about characterization i love writing i need to write of course people can dislike "bad guys" theyre written to be disliked because of the perspective you see them from but i love being like oooh hoo hoo you are a hidden gem you are a diamond in the rough damn ya ass fat whats ya trauma? oh god this is long uhm. yeah :]
anon you're spitting but im too drunk to make a good response just know im nodding and listening and agreeing

i just rewatched ‘taste of armageddon’ from tos and god what an episode. objectively its not “the best” but i think i was right to put it at the top of my rankings
basic plot summary if you forgot: kirk and the enterprise are ordered to approach a planet and establish diplomacy with them even though the planet warns them to stay away. when they land they learn that the planet has been fighting a war for 500 years but purely done through computers. the enterprise is declared a casualty so kirk and the landing party are taken hostage until the enterprise crew agree to come down and submit themselves to a disintegration machine, which the civilians of that planet do if they are declared casualties. kirk and the landing party end up destroying the computers and force the planets to either negotiate peace or fight a real war.
there are so many things i enjoy about this episode. i think for me, if you ask me to name you a quintessential TOS episode, this is it. theres some sort of strange premise that seems like a silly concept on the surface but leads itself to further philosophical thought. spock gets to do some weird vulcan telepathy. kirk busts out his sick karate moves. scotty blatantly denies the orders of a federation ambassador. kirk is a wiseass who comes up with some sort of solution somehow. the primary directive is almost certainly disobeyed but no one cares. its missing some things i would have liked, for example sulu is replaced by some guy and bones and uhura don’t get to do much, but for the most part this is everything i expect in a TOS episode wrapped in one.
feel free to stop reading here but i’m just gonna mention specific things that i like
1) spock saying there’s a certain logical approach to the computer war, and when the council leader says “i’m glad you approve” spock is like “i do NOT approve”
2) a female character who is not a love interest. this is an incredibly low bar but every time they played that violin music i would get scared
3) kirk saying “you will have a longer casualty list than you know what to do with if you don’t let us out of here” like he really said fuck the laws of this land i WILL slaughter you
4) the council leader using a voice disguiser to pretend to be kirk and scotty immediately being like “that’s not kirk” ashdjksahd
5) kirk watching spock do his vulcan telepathy. he’s a little too turned on by it
6) to follow that kirk’s little smile as he watches spock trick the guard to knock him out and take his gun. he’s like heehee hey girl look what spock’s gonna do i love this trick
7) spock getting the gun in the stupidest way possible. like hello
8) the ambassador being wrong. i love when federation officials look like dumbasses. yes i love search for spock why do you ask?
9) kirk’s little “come here” finger motion to the council member before throwing him headfirst into his own guards. incredible work king and he almost won the fight too with his karate chop action
10) spock telling the yeoman to “sit on her if you have to” to get the other woman not to kill herself
11) “what are you doing, mr. spock?” “practicing a peculiar variety of diplomacy, sir” *blows up disintegration machine*
12) the council leader saying kirk is a barbarian the scene before, and then the next when he’s like what kind of monster are you kirk goes “i’m a barbarian :)”
13) also that whole scene of the council leader being like war! destruction! death and violence! millions of lives slaughtered to save your 500 people! how could you let this happen! and kirk is like that is literally not my problem
14) kirk somehow taking down a room full of guards and getting TWO guns and saying “now we’re talkin :)” he’s like hell yeah TWO GUNS
15) spock walking in like oh. i guess you’re fine. ok then
16) the fucking line delivery of kirk saying “knowing we’re not going to kill......today” i need to clip that because i quote that shit all the fucking time. he’s like yeah i have an innate bloodlust and every day i have to fight my own instinct to bite and rip and shred but i won’t do it......today! god it’s so funny
17) last but not least in case you bitches forgot THIS EPISODE is where the incredible luck and miracles line comes from. it absolutely comes out of nowhere and they play it for laughs? for some reason? but this is where it comes from! LUCK AND MIRACLES BABEY!!!! YEAH!!!!!

This post is no shade to Izzy fans. (Obviously I'm sick of Izzy stans but the Izzy Jar guys and Izzy enjoyers are cool and can probably skip this post because I'm gonna complain about your boy) It's just my personal opinion.
Izzy is so boring dude. Like my initial impression of the show is like oh what a neurotic little villain, and the role he plays cross Ed is interesting. But to me Ed is what makes him interesting. Ed is an interesting character and Izzy plays a huge role in his story. Their relationship is interesting.
But Izzy on his own is like... So boring to me. And every time Ive said "idk what's interesting about him" I've gotten in trouble for it. I even had one person say "IDK what to tell you when we have so many wonderful interviews and panels from the creators" and I was just sitting there like... Yeah I've seen those. They make him even more boring. Like am I the only one without the Izzy wool over my eyes? Because like at the C2E2 panel for example I feel like Con said "he's got a lot of layers and all of them are bad" and everyone just stopped listening after the word layers.
Like in the interviews there's been a some of talk about Izzy's sword fighting, like that's his one skill, his signature weapon. And people are like 🥹 he likes sword fighting!!! And I'm like "oh... So there's no secret piano skill that he's hiding? His hobby is just violence?"
Like the most interesting thing about him is that he likes getting choked and force fed his own toe. Like the fact that he gets horny about depraved shit is my favorite thing about him. But also the depravity isn't even like fun it's about exerting power for him, which is like the most boring reason to be into it. It would be so much cooler if he was into erotic forced auto cannibalism for the love of the game rather than some 24/7 bdsm fantasy of being Blackbeard's dog he has. It's like I love it don't get me wrong, but also whip my balls is the superior masochistic flex. I'm being fed too well by this show to succumb to that
Ill admit that part of this is that I find people who are obsessed with power to be viscerally unappealing (I'm an anarchist politically so) and I think repression is the enemy and hedonism is like my favorite thing and I hate work. Like I'm predisposed to be a hater. Except despite all that I'm not actually a hater I just don't understand the hype.
And again, if you like Izzy that's fine. My brain decided to latch onto Calico Jack I do not sit on very solid judging ground here. But it seems like I'm the only one who's just like "yeah Izzy? Useful for causing problems, kinda mid."
