@sepulkralkreatur and i binge-watched the new kafka biopic-series, produced by german television. and i got to say - i loved it so much.
it combined the littlest details from kafka's life and also his aftermath, with his literary work - which often was linked to certain events. for those who read his work and diaries/biographies, spotting all the little references was very fun. and one of my most favourite things was probably the narrator with the reoccurring break of the fourth wall - as well as the music and collage-esque animations.
every episode was told through the perspective of significant people from kafka's life and dealt with a certain theme:
- as well as a 7th bonus-episode "kafka and me", which was more of a documental biography take with interviews, with a dog narrating the scenario and kafka's impact on our society.
joel basman did a great job at portraying franz kafka. the voice, the laugh and facial expressions being awkward all were very fitting and closing the hole, that we as readers experience towards kafka as a person.
the non-linear series served the exact atmosphere, that i associate with kafka: tragedy, humour, and the absurd. daniel kehlmann and david schalko did a great job on writing it. chapeau!
Lex Granerud: No suits in ski jumping from next season
Voice over: This is what it's gonna look like, the ski jumping of the future. It's the talking point in Planica: The FIS is gonna strip the jumpers off their clothes.
Sandro Pertile: I think it's time to make our sport more attractive. We want to be a modern sport. I think this is the right way to go.
VO: That way means: No more suits from next season onwards, and lots of bare skin instead.
VO: Is that not embarrassing?
Consti: Well, you need to show what you've got. I've got no problem with it and I'm sure it's nice for the spectators.
Eisei: It's not a problem for me, I also like going in the sauna. Everybody's got a different body and you just need to be happy with your own body. I'm happy with mine.
Others are less relaxed about it or even angry and suspect it's due to media pressure, according to the motto "sex sells". Others are calling it a "Lex Granerud", the winner of the overall world cup jumps naked often, he might be at an advantage.
Granerud: [English in the video]
ORF reporter: Here at the World Cup in Planica there's only one topic: The decision by FIS to take the suits away from the jumpers next season is causing a big commotion. Some want to jump naked, others don't.
Andi: I generally like this idea because we then don't have the problems with the suits.
Karl: It's definitely a lot fairer. Aerodynamically, there's a lot less lift.
VO: The FIS has already backpedalled. Jumpers can cover themselves if they wish.
Consti: I just hope they make a decision for either boxer shorts or briefs because it makes a difference if it's hanging freely or not.
Christian Kathol: Boxer shorts are not an option... These would be nice... These are too wide... These are too chequered.
Christina Kathol: Jumping in underwear is definitely presentable. And also there are then lots of possibilities for marketing and advertising on the body. We can regulate the sizes of tattoos, we can do different things to market the jumpers.
Eisei: I think something like this is really sexy.
Stefan: Yes, I already bought myself some fetching pants in different forms. I think the spectators can look forward to this.
Another one of my weird wolf OCs I love. His name was Gerard, but I’ve decided to rename him Ard.
Ard has two big ol monster arms on his shoulders that are covered in feathers. The limbs are not functional for gliding, let alone flight. They’re just two very dexterous arms with clawed hands and apposable thumbs.
